River Conwy Sunset
flickr
River Conwy Sunset por Peter Roberts Por Flickr: The River Conwy Welsh: Afon Conwy) is a river in north Wales. From its source to its discharge in Conwy Bay it is a little over 27 miles (43 km) long. "Conwy" was formerly Anglicised as "Conway." It rises on the Migneint moor where a number of small streams flow into Llyn Conwy, then flows in a generally northern direction, being joined by the tributaries of the rivers Machno and Lledr before reaching Betws-y-Coed, where it is also joined by the River Llugwy. From Betws-y-coed the river continues to flow north through Llanrwst, Trefriw (where it is joined by the Afon Crafnant) and Dolgarrog (where it is joined by Afon Porth-llwyd and Afon Ddu) before reaching Conwy Bay at Conwy. During spring tides the river is tidal as far as Tan-lan, near Llanrwst. Please click the pic and view LARGE!

Isolated. por Peter Roberts Por Flickr: Heaven or Hell ? I am going to leave it to the viewer of this pic to decide, is it heaven or hell for you ? Could you live in such an isolated cottage ? Just a few sheep for company, no neighbours, no mobile networks, no shops in walking distance. You could be snowed in for months through the winter, you decide!! The Llanberis Pass lies between the mountain massifs of Snowdon and the Glyderau in the county of Gwynedd, in northwestern Wales. The summit of the pass is 359 m (1,178 ft) above sea level, and is the site of the Pen-y-Pass Hotel, now a Youth Hostel. The A4086 road traverses the pass. The Nant Peris valley lies to the northwest descending to the town of Llanberis, the Llyn Peris and Llyn Padarn lakes and continues on as the Afon Rhythallt to Caernarfon and the Menai Strait. The valley is narrow, straight and steep-sided, with rocky crags and boulders on either side of the road. About one mile to the east of Pen-y-Pass is the Pen-y-Gwryd Hotel. To the east of this are the headwaters of the Dyffryn Mymbyr, a tributary of the River Llugwy which it joins at Capel Curig. To the south of Pen-y-gwryd are the headwaters of the Afon Glaslyn which flows southwestwards towards Beddgelert. Click the pic and have a look around!

Life's A Beach por Peter Roberts Por Flickr: Kinmel Dunes. Kinmel Dunes gives you the chance, following paths, to walk or cycle through an active sand dune system. The North Wales coast would have previously had large expanses of sand dunes but much is now urban development. Kinmel’s remaining examples of dunes are now a Local Nature Reserve. Kinmel is home to a number of native maritime plants such as the attractive sea holly, bird’s foot trefoil and common rest harrow. Grey seals can sometimes be seen close to the shore and bird life includes the skylark, kestrel and ringed plover. You can learn more on site at the information panels available. The area has extensive sandy beaches popular in summer with sun worshippers and sand castle enthusiasts, but it is also a great place to rest when walking the North Wales Path or National Cycle Route 5. From Kinmel Dunes there are great views out to sea and clear days will show the Isle of Man and the Lake District.

Family-Tree (Blakemere) por Peter Roberts Por Flickr: Blakemere can be found just outside Ellesmere on the way to Whitchurch. There is a small car park from which you can walk down along by The Canal, or you can follow the Canal from Ellesmere and on route you will have the option to walk through a long Tunnel or walk up and over the road. The lake is approximately 8 acres in size, and fed by two streams and two land drains. It has a large outlet ('canal') approx 8 to 10 feet wide and 300 meters long. Lily pads are abundant, with large beds at both ends, and to the side of all swims. There are established reed beds, bull rushes and mature foliage all around. Blakemere was referred to years ago as 'Black Mere' due to its peaty water colour. It was formed in the ice ages along with most of the other Shropshire meres and is abundant in natural life. There is no public access to Blakemere but it can be viewed from the canal towpath. Blakemere is one of the leading fisheries is this part of the Country not least because of its beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Click the pic to view Large!
