Blueberries and Grapes AU

This is my first official post on here so please be nice.

As Leo flies through another wall, his mind wanders to his brothers, smiling softly as he accepts his fate, surprised when he sees an orange light of a portal. “Took you guys long enough,” he mutters, weak from his fight with Kraang. Leo reaches for his brothers, Raph quickly grabbing his arm, pulling him to them. Kraang quickly appears behind Leo and grabs his leg, trying to keep him there. In the small moments as Leo is half way through the portal, Mikey feels the world spin before going dark. Donnie catches Mikey and in an instant, the portal is closed..Leo being chopped in half. He lets out a gasp as Raph and Donnie scream out. Then..everything goes dark. Raph sat there, holding half of his little brother in his arms, his ears ringing and his head spinning. The world was too loud. Raph tried to stop the bleeding, desperately trying to help his brother live. Donnie begins hyperventilating, laying Mikey down and backing away, screaming in agony as he feels his connection with Leo snap. His brother, his twin, his other half..is dead. How was he supposed to function without his brother? How is he supposed to live without his twin? He can’t live without his twin. Donnie eventually calms down enough to take Leo’s body from Raph, sobbing into his twin's cold body. Raph can’t do anything but stare at Donnie holding Leo. He wants to cry more but..he’s so tired. His eyes feel so dry. Raph notices Mikey beginning to wake up, the smaller groaning softly and looking around before his eyes land on Leo’s upper half, eyes widening in surprise and terror. He couldn’t save his brother. It’s his fault. It’s all his fault. How could he let this happen? How could he fail his older brother like that? Eventually April, Splinter and Casey made their way over to the boys, all of them seeing Leo’s upper half, face expressionless and eyes void of the life they had before. Splinter rushed to his twin boys and held Donnie close, trying to bring comfort to his now only middle child. Donnie just stood up and began walking. They went home in silence.

After a year and a half, just about, Donnie grew tired of his silent mind, unable to focus on anything he tried. He looked at the time, too late to text Usagi. Donnie goes into Leo’s room and looks at the altar they made to honor Leo, grabbing one of Leo’s swords and yelling out in anger as he swings it, opening a blue and purple mixed portal, spotting Leo on the other side, his top and bottom halves separated. Donnie noticed the portal already closing and without thinking, he grabs Leo and pulls him through the portal, unintentionally trapping Leo’s soul in the sword. Donnie collapses to the ground and begins sobbing, holding the sword close as Leo hugs him. Donnie’s eyes widen when he feels the air grow cold around him, right where Leo touched. He looks at his twin in surprise as Leo smiles softly at him. “It’s been a while, huh Donathan?”
