So I’ve noticed that in this fandom it’s common to include Deaf/ASL-using-characters into stories, which is honestly AMAZING and makes me SO HAPPY TO SEE, but many of us aren’t deaf we rely on resources, therefore:

My ASL teacher gave us this website cause it’s updates constantly (ASL evolves lots) and it’s a lot more accurate and reliable than just google :))

To work it- type the word, and a word bank will pull up, click on the term u want and a video/description of the sign and word will appear!!!

It’s rlly simple and has most words and if it doesn’t it’s bc it’s finger spelled probs!!!!

If u want more in-depth good grammar, search up “five parameters ASL”, “glossing in ASL” and watch a few videos to see “how sentence structure differs in ASL”

As always, remember it’s ok to make mistakes/notice a mistake, just be mindful and kind :D most of us aren’t out for malice and if someone is it’ll probs be very obv 😭

i can’t express how rewarding it feels to have made it through the climax i’ve been looking forward to ever since i first started the fanfic. and i’m so pleased that with this newest chapter comes an art piece i’ve been hanging onto:

i had such a vivid image in my head for the climax of the climax, the biggest moment of all the moments, and i saw it in @cupcakeslushie’s art style. and she did not disappoint ♥️

I finally read the neon void and I knew it was good but I didn’t realize it was THAT good. Holy cow @sugarpasteltmnt you are a fantastic writer. That being said this is based on the chapter “Mosaic.” I just really really like the Leo’s perspective, it’s so so good fhshdhjdjdjdhdnjf thank you for helping me out of my creative rut :D

Recently I found a list I made several months ago of Big Mama words that she uses in canon, so I thought I'd share it. (Note: this is not complete and the notes on meaning/use are limited by what I guessed from context.)

Even though I haven't finished sketching this chapter just yet due to some difficult scenes, I still really hope you all enjoy it <333

I also am hyped for the tmnt au competition and thank you all for your support in the first round <33 I am going to try and draw some propaganda and interact with other participants, but I'm already a bit overwhelmed with irl stuff + drawing Kid Leo, so it's a HUGE maybe.

“Leo, stop laughing at him.” 

Leo does not stop, because every time he looks at the tiny, fluffy, angry kitten that was his twin brother two minutes ago, he like physically CAN’T handle it. He’s been laughing for those entire two minutes and he’s getting a little lightheaded. 

“Sorry, sorry,” Leo wheezes, tears streaming down his face. 

Raph pinches the bridge of his nose. “You’re not sorry.”

“I’m not sorry, look at him.” The kitten Donatello skitters backwards on the sofa and hisses at him. Leo opens his hands and makes kissy noises. “C’mere Tello-lello, don’t you want a snuggle?”

Donnie makes a swipe for his face, claws out, but Leo dances backwards with his super fast ninja reflexes. Donnie tries to scratch Leo even when he’s not a cat, so it’s pretty par for the course.

Leo spreads his hands innocently. “Come onnn.”

“Leo,” Raph says, exasperated, probably envisioning Donnie taking Leo's eye out. “You can't tease him the whole time.”

“You have no idea how long I can tease someone,” Leo says haughtily. “But for real. I promise I'm not gonna hurt you, D. Just hoping to help with some data collection.” The data being: are those tiny fluffy ears really as soft as they look? Can we get a cuteness rating on the little toe beans, a standard ten scale, please? 

Leo reaches out a hand for Donnie to sniff, which he bites immediately and mercilessly. OW. Okay. That one's fair. An acceptable sacrifice. Leo scoops the tiny kitten into his arms. Donnie meows angrily at him, high and shrill, probably scared. But Leo is an expert in Donatello and this is no sweat. 

“Look, you’re okay, D.” Leo puts his hand on Donnie’s back, the fragile, shivering thing in his arms. “I’m not gonna hurt you. Promise.” 

Donnie meows again, weaker. Leo’s not a monster. He knows it must be scary to be suddenly so small and so vulnerable. Earlier Donnie was backed into the corner, hissing, in full panic mode. 

Leo tucks Donnie under his chin and hums, trying to convey incredibly warm and soft vibes. The gushy stuff, the sort of embarrassing sappy shit he would N-E-V-E-R say out loud even with a gun to his head, the I would die for you thing and the you’re safe with me I promise thing. Maybe one time when they were eight, Donnie found Leo hiding under his bed during a thunderstorm, and he crawled in there with him and rested his head on Leo’s shoulder, a flashlight and a book with too many big words for Leo to really understand but what he did understand was that his twin was there and he was safe.

“I’ve got you,” Leo says, so softly he has plausible deniability. Donnie brushes against his chin and Leo can feel his little heartbeat slowing under the feather-soft fur. Really really quietly, he starts purring.

The pillars of smoke rising toward the red sky told a different story than the people and mutants hugging and dancing around them. In your peripheral vision, you could see some of them only just getting the news, dropping their weapons faster than their knees could reach the floor as they broke into cries full of grief for the ones who'd been lost and glee over this newfound victory. The Technodrome had fallen, the Krang machines lay lifeless on the former battleground. The war was over, and the ones you'd lost along the way had not gone in vain.

You wouldn't let your painful memories cloud the joy that moment held for the whole planet, quite literally, not now that the biggest threat and horror you'd witnessed was defeated. Amid your resolve, you heard steps approaching you - an ability you'd refined with the war to keep you safe - but you didn't worry it would be an enemy creeping up on you. When you turned around, your heart did a leap, the same one it did the first time you saw him when you were both merely kids. The blue bandana over his eyes was torn and ragged, he was bruised and his eyes held the whole weight of all the people he'd protected battle after battle, and yet, he smiled at you. After all those years, after all that bloodshed, Ninja Master Leonardo was still, somewhere in there, Leon. Your Leon.

Your journey with Leonardo hadn't been perfect by any means, and in the early years when the war with the Krang got bad, your journey with him was no more. You never held it against him, what with every human and mutant looking up to him after the deaths of Splinter and Raphael, but the moment of watching him walk away from you after you'd both called it quits would forever be engraved in your heart as much as his mischievous little grin from the day you met. You had witnessed terrible loss and destruction, and still, ending your relationship with Leonardo was the most painful memory you had.

But there he stood with smoke pillars behind him, bruised and beaten and raggedy, and just as you smiled back, you realized he was bleeding through his shell. You ran to him without a second thought and held your arms out to aid him, and upon feeling your touch, Leonardo let his weight come down slightly, not fully resting on you, but you knew it was his way of trusting you. Despite that, he kept looking at you with a smooth smile while all you did was worry, tearing off a piece of your own cape to put over his wound.

"You're hurt!" You cried.

"I'm fine," came his voice, hiding a slight laugh. "Just-"

"Leon, no, you are not downplaying this, not anymore," you rambled as your battle instincts kicked in, patching him as you readied yourself to call for a medic. You were just raising your hand to signal attention to you when Leonardo placed his own over it, his touch gentle.

"Relax, sweetheart," he said.

You froze. Your gaze fell on him, riddled with nostalgia. When he spoke, he'd sounded eons younger than he was, as if he hadn't just been through a whole war. The mention of the nickname he'd once had for you made you hope for a new beginning now that the war was over, and your chest fluttered when you realized he was still holding your hand.

But then, his smile faded into a look of guilt, and his hand wavered away from yours. "I... Can I still...?"

You made a sound, a mix of a sob and a laugh, and it was only then that the tears of joy and heartbreak streamed down your cheeks.

"Of course you can," you whispered. Before you could sink into your sweetheart, your gaze flew over to his wound. "Did you at least get someone to look at that?"

"Sweetheart," he chuckled.

"I mean it-"

"Just kiss me," Leonardo smiled at you in an attempt to keep his confident front up, but his voice was nearly a plea. It was still enough for you to calm down and oblige, and your body softened into him. If you'd felt a moment's hesitation, you never would have noticed it - kissing him was all you'd ever dreamed.

It started with a brief agitation resulting from all you'd both been through in those past years, but as you gently stroked his cheek and Leonardo held your waist closer to him, you both settled into what it used to be like to be together. Safe, warm, tender, where all that would matter was you and him, nothing and no one else. You broke the kiss with no rush to get away and looked him in the eyes, smiling gently as you brushed your thumb delicately over the red marking on his cheek, basking in the sight of him smiling back at you.

"Didn't waste a moment, did you?" You asked with a glint in your eye.

Leonardo chuckled. "No, I..." you could tell by the way his features softened that he put aside any playfulness that may have come to the surface like it did in the old days. "Listen... living through this war was a promise I knew I could never keep. But I did promise myself that if I lived through this war, the first thing I'd do was find you."

You sighed as your whole heart swelled in adoration for him. "Leon..."

"Please, just..." Leonardo pulled you in even closer. "Kiss me again."

You obliged with less caution than the first time. Throwing your arms around his upper back, you kissed him with all the passion you'd bottled up inside for years, merely happy you could be in his presence and kiss him once, twice, and however many times again you wanted.

A part of you wanted to go back in time and tell younger you that it would be okay, that she was right not to let the sorrow break her and to fight on. You knew that if she could see you and Leonardo now, she'd never doubt for a moment it would all be worth it. In another corner of your mind, you thought back to the first time you and Leon were together at the highest point of the city skyline, you clinging to him out of flirtation but also a fear of heights, and Leonardo flashing that confident little grin as he held you close before he finally kissed you. And like a mirror between two timelines, Leonardo pulled away ever so slowly and looked you in the eyes, and you just knew he'd had a brilliant idea.

"Wanna rebuild the world with me?" He asked you.

"Lead the way," you leaned in for another kiss, one that you would carry close to you for whatever came next.

It had been a long, long time since that first night with him, but all's well that ends well if you could be with him now.

I'm a sucker for war's end tropes. Big sucker. When I saw Future!Leonardo, I knew I had to write something like this. Anyways, the song that inspired this is It's Been a Long, Long Time by Harry James. This song and Future!Leonardo have me swooning. Go listen to it if you haven't!
