Folded crepe paper garland
Folded crepe paper garland
I used to make these garlands before Christmas when I was little.  I told my sister that I was making them and she had to remind me that they are called mouse ladders in Icelandic. I had completely forgot.  These are great for Christmas but also a very inexpensive way to decorate for a birthday!  Folded crepe paper garland   Ingredients Crepe paper or crepe paper rolls Scissors Stapler (or tape)…

Edible peanut butter and honey play dough
Edible peanut butter and honey play dough
I was very excited to make this for my little friend. She is still to young for play dough and now she can have a pre taste (get the pun, as it’s edible. I’m so funny even if I say so myself) of what play dough is all about. I showed her how to make a ball with two hands, roll it and squish it. She of course loved playing with it and eating it. And oh boy, is it tasty! I could spread this play…

Overnight oats with mango and chia seeds
I found this recipe in a book that a friend got for Christmas. The recipe was in Swedish and I just about managed to read through it with my basic knowledge of Danish and rapidly declining comprehension of Icelandic. The overnight oats turned out good! So I must have read the recipe right?   Overnight oats with mango and chia seeds   Serves: 2 Ingredients 500ml of milk (normal, soya or almond)…

Rosemary roasted tofu
Tofu is one of those foods that people generally don´t know how to cook, me included and I’ve been vegetarian for years. I’ve marinated tofu and used it in a vegetable stir-fry but that it basically. So while browsing on the Internet one evening after Christmas, I came across a very sassy and sexy cookbook called, “Vegan soul kitchen: Fresh, healthy, and creative African American cuisine” by…

When I was about 7 year old my father gave me a weaving loom. I loved it. I still have some of the creations that I made.
Therefore, when I made these cardboard circles, I thought the whole time, I would have loved this activity as a little girl. LOVED it!
I did not have to buy anything for this cardboard circle weaving project. I had cardboard, yarn and beads. If you need to buy multipacks of yarn, these three places are a good place to look; the flying tiger, the works and hobbycraft.
Cardboard circle weaving
  Ingredients
Cardboard
Yarn (different colours and thickness)
Pencil
Tape
Scissors
Beads
Instructions
Find a circular object and place it on top the cardboard and trace around it. Then cut out the circle.
Mark out on your circle where you will cut a notch. You can use a ruler if you want it to be very precise. I marked 12, but you can have it an odd number, which will give the weave a different design.
Cut a tiny notch into each mark.
Thread the yarn through a notch at the back and tape the end down. Run the yarn across and then to the adjacent cut. Repeat until you have finished with the circle and tape the yarn down. You can write down the numbers so it is easier for your child to follow.
Tie the yarn to the centre, cut about 20-30cm long piece and tread the needle.
Then you use the needle to go over and under through out the circle.
When changing the colour, simply tie the next colour onto your last one.
You can add beads at anytime through out the weaving.

My friend and I came across this play dough last summer. We tried it out, and it was a really nice variation to the normal play dough. It´s moldable, but it crumbles when touched and is really soft. My friend really liked the smell. Me not so much! FOAM PLAY DOUGH INGREDIENTS Corn flour Shaving cream Food coloring INSTRUCTIONS There is only one step! Put equal amount of corn flour and shaving cream into a large bowl with a splash of food coloring and then mix together with a spoon and then kneed together with your fingers. That´s it! NOTES If you are sensitive to smell, I would suggest using odorless shaving cream. learningthroughplay #kidsactivities #creativelife #earlyeducation #kidsactivities #kidsactivityblogger #powerofplay #toddleravtivity #invitationtoplay #travelingsheep #finemotorskills #playmatters #crafty #repost #learningisfun #toddlersofinstagram #kbnmums #teacherbloggers #eyfs #toodlerfun #creativelittlepeeps #foamplaydough #playdough #travelingsheep #playforkids #playfun #toddlerplayfun (at London, United Kingdom)

This is a wonderful painting and cutting activity for your children to enhance their fine motor skills and knowledge and understanding of the world! Together you can find out facts about sharks! Did you know that? There are over 400 types of sharks. Sharks may have up to 3,000 teeth at one time Sharks can be found in all seas Sharks have ears I got this idea from artsymomma. It is important to keep the scissors and stapler away from younger children! HAPPY PAPER PLATE SHARK INGREDIENTS Paper plate Grey paint Paint brush Double sided tape Paper triangles Sissors Stapler Big googly eye INSTRUCTIONS Paint the paper plate with the grey paint and set aside to dry. Cut the paper plate in half and set one half aside for the fins and tail. On the side of the plate cut triangle shape wedge for the mouth. On the back side, stick the double-sided tape around the edge of the mouth, and then peal the tape off. Stick the paper triangles onto the tape, for sparkly white teeth. Now take the spare half, and cut out two triangles and a tail (I found it helpful to draw a template of the tail before I cut it out). Staple the fins and tail onto the shark. Peel of the tape from the back of the eye, and stick on the shark (if your eye is not stick on but a dot of glue on the back before you stick it on the shark). Your happy shark is finished! NOTES Older children will be able to help out with the cutting and the stapler, however you will have to supervise the whole project. The little ones can paint and stick on the paper teeth, and it is important to keep the sissors and stapler away from them. #playmatters #repost #toddleractivity #kidsactivities #learningthroughplay #abeautifulmess #finemotorskills #toddleractivities #firstthreadingactivity #invitationtoplay #processart #mixedmediaart #mybeautifulmess #powerofplay #creativehappylife #homeart #momitforward #travelingsheep #kidsactivityblogger #kidsactivityblog #paperplateshark (at London, United Kingdom)

I don’t like crayons or markers lying around after one of my friends drew a (beautiful) picture on the wall in his living room. I asked him, “What is this?” and he replied, “Gunna, this is art”. I didn’t have an answer to that, because he was right. Therefore, this activity is a safest way to let little monkeys colour without the worry of them wondering off with the crayons or markers to create wall art. They also concentrate for longer while in the confined space of the box. You do need to keep an eye on your little ones though, because some children do like to nibble on the crayons and or colour themselves with the markers. CARDBOARD BOX COLOURING INGREDIENTS Large cardboard box Crayons (or markers) INSTRUCTIONS This activity kind of says what’s on the box! LOL! Open the box up, lift your child and put him or her inside. Hand over the crayons and let the artist colour as all the sides with beautiful pictures.Sent via @planoly #planoly #travelingsheep #playmatters #repost #toddleractivity #kidsactivities #learningthroughplay #abeautifulmess #finemotorskills #toddleractivities #invitationtoplay #processart #mixedmediaart #mybeautifulmess #powerofplay #creativehappylife #homeart #momitforward #kidsactivityblogger #cardboardbocolouring (at London, United Kingdom)

Here comes Sensory bottles-Part two as promised. I was very excited about this project when I went to the nicest arts and craft store in Helsinki. They had so many fun and colorful stuff to use for the bottles (and other projects). They kindly let me store my things behind the counter, while I spent a long time ticking things of my list and asking them for help with this that and the other. Sensory bottles are clear bottles that are filled up with a variety of materials that stimulate your children´s senses through sight, touch, smell, taste and hearing. The bottles were a great success with my little friend, especially the ones with the feathers and the pipe cleaners. Maybe they are lighter and more colorful? I’ve asked him why he liked them the best and he just answered, “Maa”. Bless his cotton socks. SENSORY BOTTLES-PART TWO INGREDIENTS Clear water bottles Glue What I used was; Feathers Match sticks Beads Pipe cleaners You can also add; Beads Buttons Pom poms Ribons Foam letters or animals Plastic eyes Glitter (bigger is better) Sequins Dices INSTRUCTIONS Collect clear empty water bottles, wash them and remove any labels and glue (let them dry on the inside). Fill the bottles with materials of your choice. Glue the cap securely on the bottle. When the glue is dry, start to play!

I made these buttons for my little friend and her best friend. They have been perfect entertainment in the pram while walking around town. This is a sensory toy as the buttons make a fantastic clicking sound when shaken, and are great for exploring with their mouth and hands. I also love that I can teach my friend about shapes and colours. I cut the string very short, so that my friend would not wrap it around her neck. I bought the buttons here and the shoe laces from here. BUTTONS ON A STRING INGREDIENTS Large buttons String or shoe laces INSTRUCTIONS Thread the buttons onto the string, and tie a double knot (very securely). NOTES I cut the string very short, so that my friend would not wrap it around her neck. Also tie the knot very securely, as the buttons are a choking hazard. #activityblogger #sensory #learningisfun #letthembe #kids #child #instakids #blog #kidscrafts #education #crafty #preschool #school #momitforward #earlyeducation #creativetimes #sensoryplay #sensorytoy #sensorytoyforbabies #invitationtoplay #travelingsheep #kidsactivities #kidsactivityblogger (at London, United Kingdom)

Facebooktwitterpinterestmailby feather This game is fantastic for a rainy day! Like today! When your children have been inside all day and are ready to burst from unused energy. Get the tennis rackets out (or fly swatters) blow up a few balloons and ready steady go. You may find that you will enjoy it too. I did. But then again I’m a silly goose. This is a great game for gross motor skills and hand- eye coordination. I bought the tennis rackets in Poundland. Please be careful with the balloons, when they deflate they are a chocking factor for small children. BALLOON TENNIS INGREDIENTS Tennis rackets or fly swatters Balloons INSTRUCTIONS Blow up a few balloons and then let the kids go to town. #travelingsheep # (at London, United Kingdom)

Do you have any of your children's paintings lying around the house? Don't know what to do with them? Well, here is what I do. I make cards! These cards are easy to make and don't take a long time. And if your child is old enough, they can help with the design, the cutting and the gluing. What you need: Cardstock paper Sissors Glue Fold or cut the cardstock paper to your desirable size. Cut out a design from your children's painting and glue onto the cardstock paper. #playpretend #playmatters #repost #toddleractivity #kidsactivities #learningthroughplay #abeautifulmess #finemotorskills #toddleractivities #invitationtoplay #processart #mixedmediaart #mybeautifulmess #powerofplay #creativehappylife #homeart #momitforward #travelingsheep #gluingactivity #artcards

The pipe cleaners are firm and therefore an easier way for little fingers to hold on to when learning to thread for the first time. It will take time and patience to learn, you may have to offer lost of support and encouragement in the process. This activity will increase your child´s concentration and fine mother skills. This activity has small parts and therefore not suitable for very young children. I always supervise children during this activity. FIRST THREADING ACTIVITY INGREDIENTS Pipe cleaners Scissors Chucky beads Plastic tubes A small plastic bowl (optional) INSTRUCTIONS If you pipe cleaners are very big you are going to have to cut them to size (then put the chunky beads and pipe cleaners in the plastic bowl). You both choose a pipe cleaner and a bead, and then you demonstrate to your child how to tread the bead onto the pipe cleaner. When the first bead is on, you start on the second one and so on it goes. Twist the two ends together when finished. NOTES This activity has small parts and therefore not suitable for very young children. I always supervise children during this activity. I bent the pipe cleaner at the end so the beads would not fall off. #playmatters #repost #toddleractivity #kidsactivities #learningthroughplay #abeautifulmess #finemotorskills #toddleractivities #firstthreadingactivity #invitationtoplay #processart #mixedmediaart #mybeautifulmess #powerofplay #creativehappylife #homeart #momitforward #travelingsheep #activityblogger (at London, United Kingdom)
