My Top Albums of 2017: #1 Kamasi Washington: Harmony Of Difference In a year that was jam packed with so much personal growth I feel like Harmony Of Difference encapsulates my year perfectly. This album has wonderful free jazz elements and its contrasting melodies leaves you with a swirl of beauty, fear and hope. If I learned one thing in 2017 it is that life can change, and change although scary can lead to great growth. Sometimes life can leave you feeling chaotic and it can feel like you are being ripped in a thousand different directions. My Top Albums of 2017: #3 Kendrick Lamar: Damn. Kendrick Lamar continues to be one of the most influential and important voices in all of music. Damn. is yet another example of how versatile and honest Kendrick is able to be while continuously pushing the creative envelope. Kendrick has been and continues on Damn. to be the voice for an entire movement and culture. If anyone were to ask me in 20 years how was 2017 musically I would probably immediately reach on my shelf for Damn. My Top Albums of 2017: #4 Tyler, The Creator: Flower Boy (Scum Fuck: Flower Boy, on Cassette) In a year with a wealth of rap albums Flower Boy is an absolute stand out. Flower Boy is a wonderful twist on Tyler, The Creator’s old more aggressive style and a new more audience accessible style. Heavy rap mixed with beautiful vocal performances and instrumentals make this one of the most beautiful albums I have heard this year.
