Chapter 2 — New Beginnings.
The frostnip falls upon Hauteclaire’s face—the pokey sensations of pins and needles all over her face and body. Her eyes rise open, only to stare up at the clearing between the dense forest trees to see the white sky powdering her with snow. She's on her back with her limbs splayed out awkwardly as she thinks aloud—
"What time is it?" She sighs, then she begins coughing a lung up from the freezing morning air chilling her down to her bones. "…So tired…" She murmurs, threatening to fall back into an empty dreamland.
Being torn from her lifeless dreams, she hears a distant, "Hey! We found someone!" And then the rapid crunching of snow beneath boots made for this weather approaches her side. "Hey, hey, are you alright, Miss?" They kneel down next to her, but her eyes are so foggy with sleepiness and pain.
"…Does…Does it look like I am…?" She barely breathes out, eliciting an awkward chuckle to come from the man beside her.
"Ah, you got a mouth on you… We'll bring you back to the city swiftly. Don't you worry another moment." His deep, resounding voice reassures her, and then she's fallen back asleep once more. "Dang, she fell asleep…" He sighs.
———
Rousing into a much warmer area, Hauteclaire breathes a heavy sigh of relief while shifting in the soft bed beneath her. Attempting to sit up, her once-frozen bones snap and pop from the lack of usage. She groans, rubbing the joints of her arms with both opposing hands. Golden eyes laden, she stares at the long window to her right side through thick eyelashes.
(Where am I?) She asks herself before shaking her head, placing her feet on the floor to the left side of the bed. (I should investigate…) She stares ahead at the open doorway, leaving behind a crystalline ornament on the bedside table.
Before she's able to leave the room, there's that resounding voice from earlier speaking,
"She can't be dead. Her Vision is still lit up, I even checked." He remarks, crossing his arms firmly.
"It is suspicious, but… She was definitely dead when I checked her body. No pulse or breathing found…" A blonde woman with a stern voice chimes in.
"That's nonsense, someone can't simply just revive like that." He argues with a sigh rolling off his lips. "Let's go check if she's dead then, alright? Maybe you were hallucinating again."
"On the contrary…" Hauteclaire speaks up, pacing past the cathedral nave.
"Ah!" The woman screams in terror, jumping into the man's arms, "Sh-she's alive! A zombie!" She yowls. “D-Don’t eat me!”
"Calm down already." The man sighs, holding the woman without much issue.
"Just who are you, anyway?" The woman breathes heavily.
"Hauteclaire." She nods, "And you are?" She raises a thick brow.
"This is Piep, my betrothed and a nun here at the church," The man gestures his head to the woman in his arms, "And I am Eduard, a local Knight." He gently places Piep back down on her feet.
(None of these things make sense to me except the knight part…) Hauteclaire stares down at the polished floor for a brief moment, and when she looks up at them again, "I see. I presume you saved me, so thank you."
"No problem." Eduard nods, "Mind telling us about yourself, stranger?"
"I do mind." She crosses her arms beneath her bosom.
"…Wow." Eduard and Piep say in unison.
"All I can tell you is that the Abyss Order wants my head on a pike at the moment." She sighs; gaze shifting elsewhere.
"What?!" They yell in surprise. In unison. Again.
"Wow, you two sure are on the same wavelength—"
"The Knights of Favonius will protect you, Hauteclaire. Stay within the city walls and you'll be dandy." He nods and offers a beaming smile.
"…Sure." Hauteclaire's eyes screw shut, vexation growing in her chest. "I suppose I don't have much of a choice." She shakes her head, more than a bit disappointed in herself.
"Why not live with us here in Mondstadt? You don't look like you've got any Mora on you." Piep smiles as well, although it almost looks embittered.
"…Thank you. Truly." Hauteclaire stares holes through their souls, causing chills to run up the couple's spines.
"By the way, I found you with a Cryo Vision in Wolvendom this morning. You should get your things if you're feeling better." He remarks.
"A what now?" She replies with a face warped with confusion and dread.
"Uhhh…" Piep murmurs, offering an awkward smile. "How do we explain this?" She turns to her fiance, whispering to him.
"I got this." He nods before speaking up, "Simply put, it's a channel for elemental energy granted by the Gods. It's a very rare phenomenon."
"Oh, I see." Hauteclaire hums, "That's neat, I guess." She shrugs with a confused frown etching into her features, "By the way…"
"Yes?"
"What's a Mondstadt?"

Zhongli's Stalker/Lover! Bottom!FTM!Zhongli x Top!Male!Reader Warning: Cunnilingus, drinking, drugs, stalking, unprotected sex, mentions of female genitals Zhongli doesn't even know how it came to this, hell, his brain isn't even functioning properly, all because of you. Currently, you're eating out this spoken-highly-of dragon's cunt, making him a moaning, cumming mess. Before this, a few hours ago, Zhongli was just at the bar, drinking alcohol, little did he know, that someone spiked one of his drinks when he was already just slightly tipsy. Since he's a dragon and a Geo Archon, he couldn't really get fully drunk, but Zhongli had drank very strong liquor, so he got just a bit drunk. And that allowed, someone -you- to spike his drink. After you spiked his drink, he had passed out, and when he woke up, all he saw was darkness. You had tied up his arms to the headboard of the bed and blindfolded him, he doesn't even know who did this, yet. Once you realized he had woken up from his slumber, in your usual, soft, and velvety voice, you say "Oh, you're finally awake, my love! Did you enjoy your sleep?~" Zhongli floundered around, knowing that he had been drugged, that stripped away his Geo elemental powers. "Who are you and what do you want?!" Zhongli said firmly in his calm tone, despite his helplessness. "It's me, dear, [Name]~ Your one and only~" you speak with a soft, but malicious tone. Zhongli stops thrashing around immediately, his beautiful orange and brown eyes widening underneath the blindfold. When you finally take the blindfold off, you can see Zhongli, the fear swimming in his eyes.... Oh how that only fueled your sadistic side and lewd desire. You've known Zhongli for a while, and you're obsessed with him. Yes, you're a stalker for Zhongli, but who wouldn't be if they knew your precious angel? You've always said that to yourself to bury down the guilt, -aka, the sane part of you- and it works. Back to the present, you continue to eat out Zhongli who's completely out of it, his slender fingers intertwined with your (h/c) locks, soft whimpers and moans escaping past his perfect, soft, dreamy lips. This was literally out of a -your- dream, this calm, strong man, falling apart in front of you, presenting himself, his cunt dripping their delicious juices onto your chin. You're like a starved man as you eat him out. And when you reveal your length, Zhongli can feel his eyes widening, and his pink hue on his cheeks turning scarlet. Zhongli and you know that he is scared, but more excited than any other feeling. You slip your length inside Zhongli's pussy, cooing soft praises and comfort in his ear, the dragon arching his back once you were fully inside, his mesmerizing brownish-orange eyes dissapeared to the back of his head, he had already squirted around your cock and you've only just put it in. Zhongli could feel your cock fitting snuggly inside of his dripping pussy, the tip of your cock kissing his cervix, making him cum again. Your cock was girthy and lengthy, pressing all of the right and sensitive spots inside of him. Since you didn't have a condom on, he could feel the skin of your cock pressing in him. At first you were thrusting in and out slowly and sensually so Zhongli could get used to your length. But after a bit, you started speeding up, you started speeding up, his moans getting louder as well. "Hnnng! a-aahh~♥" Zhongli moaned out, white ropes of cum spurting out of his t-dick. "Such a good slut for me, hm?" You hummed out, your tone soft and innocent despite the dirty words. After a while, you cum inside of him, despite his pleas of 'no' yet in his head, he kept on repeating "Cum in me, please~". You gently stroke Zhongli's long, soft, disheveled hair.
You gently take a clean, but damp cloth, cleaning up Zhongli a bit, the dragon shuddering a bit from the dampness of the cloth, before his eyes widen a bit. You had just picked him up, bridal style, you carry Zhongli's sensitive body to the bathroom. The bathroom pristine, fancy and clean, but cozy. A light on the ceiling, the lighting is a soft mellow white, so it doesn't hurt your eyes, but still lights up the room, there was a tub and shower, the shower had glass doors, while the tub was sparkly clean, towels hung up where they are meant to be, the towels pure white, definitely clean. You gently sit Zhongli down on the toilet seat, turning on the faucet of the shower tub, putting your hand in it to make sure it wasn't too cold or too hot for your dear dragon. Once the bath was ready, you set Zhongli down in the tub, making sure he was comfortable, you get in the tub as well, sitting behind Zhongli, despite having unwilling sex with you, Zhongli still enjoyed it. You wash the dragon's hair tenderly, like you did with the rest of his body. You had to clean your cum out of him so.... you had to put a finger back in his pussy, gently scraping it out. Zhongli was now facing you, his face buried in your shoulder, moaning softly at the sensation. The noises close to your ears, traveling down to your dick, you were getting hard again, but it would've probably been too much for Zhongli, so you ignore it. You finish cleaning the exhausted dragon, drying him off and putting your clothes on him after you took him out of the tub and sat him down on the toilet seat. You carry Zhongli's limp body to your bed, you had changed the sheets before cleaning Zhongli, so you just had to lay Zhongli down. You lay down beside him, wrapping your arms around Zhongli's body, the two of you cuddling. The last thing you say and hear before nodding off is "I love you". You both fall asleep in each other's warm, comforting embrace... (A/N: This is my first actual post that isn't a choose your ending like the Jealousy one. I saw that I got a lot -well to me- of likes on that post, i hope you guys used the actual AI Bot where the original little script came from. Thank you for all of those likes!)

' How lucky you would be to catch a sight like this '
Tumblr media
I love how this turned out and I truly cannot stress that enough. I haven't felt this happy about an art piece of mine in what feels like ages! Not saying I don't feel happy/proud of my other pieces, just saying that this one is just above all of those. It was a comfort as much as a passion to work on this. It's my lockscreen now❤️
My babies ❤️
This is just an AU of sorts where Jerenika lives during his time as the Prime adeptus as an immortal creature herself. I love them, you honor akwjeo2iek

I Wish You Died Instead Ch. 7
[Scaramouce x Fem!Reader]
A/N: I started writing this before all of his lore came out/Before the last Sumeru Archon quest, so there will be a handful of inconsistency later on. My advice to you? Just go with it!
{Also on Quotev, Ao3, and Wattpad under Gabriel Xander}
Chapter 7: He Totally Loves Your Letters
Fiddling nervously with your hands, you sit silently at the table while Childe, Zhongli, Kazuki... and two other people talk with each other about the recent passing of Rex Lapis, the God of Geo, and, like, 50 other fancy titles.
You're not gonna lie, his "death" was a little funny to you. Honestly, it kind of looked like Lady Ningguang was the one who did it. She did this whole performance thing and shot this power into the sky. Two seconds later, a great dragon fell out of the sky dead as hell.
No one seems to think about it like that, though.
Anyway, the two other guests that Zhongli and Childe were talking to were:
The Traveler and Paimon.
They are the man(s), the myth, the legend...
The Traveler, who introduced himself as Aether, was actually very pretty. You first confused him as a young man, a potential little baby, a little son you can spoil because he's just a little guy. But alas, that is not the case with him. He looked a little sad when he had to correct you about his age.
You and Kazuki were already with Zhongli at Liuli Pavilion when Childe arrived with Aether and Paimon. That's when you officially met them both, and Aether's aura was one of someone who has lived and experienced more than you can ever imagine. Aether wasn't very talkative, instead the weird fairy, Paimon, did most of it on his behalf.
Kazuki puts a hand on your bouncing thigh, giving you a passive look. Calm down, he's telling you.
You smile at him.
You were only nervous since you were unsure if the Traveler and Paimon knew of your true identity, and you didn't want to go around announcing that if you could help it.
"In fact," Zhongli looks at you with a smile, "[Y/n], why don't you accompany us? You have always shown interest in my work before, and I can allow you to witness it firsthand just this once if you'd like."
Wait, what? You were not paying attention.
"Uh, I–Sorry, I zoned out," You laugh nervously, "What did you want my help with?"
"It's not like you to be so out of focus," Kazuki teases, nudging your leg.
You scoff, "Leave me alone, I zoned out for not even a minute."
Childe chuckles, "The Traveler, Paimon, and Mr. Zhongli were just discussing the fulfillment of the memorial service for the passing of Rex Lapis. I agree with him, I think it'd be a good opportunity for you to learn. You do always ask him about it, after all."
You laugh sheepishly, embarrassed at how easily they keep revealing that.
It's not that you're super interested in the work of a funeral consultant, more so the stories Zhongli always shared about the clients. He always knows so much, and he's so knowledgeable about that dead person's life, and you don't know why, but you just love hearing about it.
You wouldn't consider yourself a "dang I love people" type of person, but life itself is so wonderful to you. You love hearing about life through a person who seemed like he experienced so much of it.
After all, your fascination with life itself is the reason why you became a Fatui, to begin with. You're given resources to travel the world and study the land under the guise of doing work. You especially love learning about the history of Teyvat, the Abyss, Celestia, and Khaenri'ah, kind of like lore hunting.
"Is-Is it really okay if I come, Mr. Zhongli?"
Still, you have to ask. Childe never hid his identity from Zhongli, so you never bothered either, he knows you three are of Fatuus. Is it really okay with him if you go along knowing that there's the possibility that your superior will ask something suspicious of you?
La Signora hasn't yet, but still. Surely he knows?
He nods with a smile, "Of course. I wouldn't have offered otherwise."
You light up and sit up straighter, "Then yeah! Of course! Thank you for having me!"
"Hm," The brunette nods, "Now then if we have agreed, come with me. We will speak of the details as we walk."
It wasn't until after your group left (leaving poor Kazuki with Childe) that the ginger asked his subordinate a question.
"Do you think... [Y/n] would be upset with me if I had asked her to be a double agent while with Mr. Zhongli?"
Kazuki nods immediately, "Yes, My Liege. Unfortunately, you two are friends now. Though she tries not to show it, sheis quite sensitive. Especially when it comes to the topic of friends. Why do you think before meeting you, she was only friends with me?"
"I just thought she was a loner," Childe raises a brow.
"No. Her philosophy is: that betrayal hurts because it can only come from the people you care about. And in this line of business, that is inevitable. Now that you are her friend, you fall under that category," The Pyro vision user hums as he sloshes around the drink in his hand, "I personally have no issue with it, but for [Y/n], never mix friends and business with her."
Tartaglia had to think to himself for a moment, wondering if it was a good idea to become your friend at all. He doesn't regret it, but it does make situations like these more difficult. It took a while for you to even want to warm up to him, so... No, he doesn't want to risk it so soon by asking you to spy on your guys' mutual friend.
"Wait," Childe frowns at Kazuki, "What did you mean earlier when you said, "Unfortunately we're friends?"
The man with light brown eyes smirks very slightly, nearly unnoticeable, "Because you are a Harbinger, My Liege. And your task here requires violent actions, remember? You're going to do something that upsets her, and she's going to cut you off. It's inevitable."
...
Childe slams his forehead on the table.
Well... fuck.
————
You lightly smack your cheek, blinking hard to keep yourself awake so late into the night so you don't pass out in the middle of reading.
You're lucky you managed to befriend Jifang, the Boss of Wawen Bookhouse before you knew she was the boss of the place. This ended up working out for you when you wanted to read a book, she'd allow you to "rent" it out rather than a full purchase. She even trusted you to stick around to keep reading even after she closed shop for the day. You'd say you're doing a good job maintaining her trust since you never stole and you always made sure to honor her payment methods.
"So even the Salt God stood amongst the other Gods before the Archon War..." You mutter, reading the next passage out loud, "...before being ruthlessly murdered by one of her own followers."
Holy shit, that's fucked up! Just because she was kind, she had to die? But that doesn't make any sense. If this was during the Archon War, and the God of Salt was technically considered a God of Liyue, why didn't Rex Lapis help her out? Or at least, helped her people so they didn't feel like they had to kill their own God?
You hum to yourself as you keep reading the book: "Her remains are likely to be found somewhere in the ruins of the area known as "Sal Terrae."
The rest of the Volume goes on to talk about the "Flower Toss", or more commonly known in Liyue and Mondstadt, as the "Flower Ball", the God of Salt handed her people a bunch of flowers as a blessing to them. Or at least, if not a blessing, then a small gesture of comfort to stave off the bitterness of the Archon War.
You close shut Volume 1 of Customs of Liyue, neatly putting it back on the shelf from where you got it. Volumes 2 and 3 are about the Rite of Decension and Silk Flowers, both of which you know have nothing to do with the Salt God.
You skim through the spines of the books, trying to find something else of relevance. It's a bit hard to read in the dark, and the only light you have is a lantern above illuminating a small area.
"Ah, here we go. Hopefully, this has something," You muse to yourself, "Volumes 1 and 2 of Records of the Gallant."
Spoilers: it was a fucking bust.
You sigh in irritation as you put the books back after a quick skim. You're starting to get a headache from reading in the dark for hours. Dawn will soon arrive in a few hours, making you dread today's assignments.
You stifle through your Mora bag, pulling out... shit, how many books did you end up reading tonight? You read the full series of Customs of Liyue and Records of the Gallant. Not to mention that you had a quick indulgence of the Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru Teyvat Travel Guides before you were on a spontaneous lore hunt. It was 1,000 Mora for each Volume, and 2,500 Mora for each Travel Guide Volume. (Mind you, this is all half-price since you're "renting" them, and not fully purchasing them for permanent ownership.)
You pout very sadly, parting with 15,000 Mora. You put it in a jar that Jifang leaves out for you to put the Mora in.
Liyue's architect and structure still fucking confuse you to this day, so it takes you a whole fucking hour to get back to the Northland Bank. It seemed that Vlad's shift was over, since now Nadia, the guard of the Northland Bank for the night shift, was outside standing at attention.
You smile at her, and she smiles back when she recognizes you. You think it's funny other Fatuus have a hard time recognizing you without your mask on. You don't like wearing it out when you're not on the clock though, and you haven't been scolded for it so you guess it's fine.
"Hey, there, Nadia. Is Ekaterina still here?" You ask her, holding back a yawn.
"Oh, good evening, [L/n]. Yes, she should still be here. She had a busy day today, you know. So she might be a little cranky," The girl with light brown hair tells you, "Oh! Before you go in, I have news about my new pen-pal!"
"Oh? Do we finally have more information about them?" You smile teasingly.
"Yeah! He's also a guard here at the Northland Bank, but he's on duty during the day, while I'm on duty at night," Nadia nervously pushes a lock of hair behind her ear, "To tell you the truth, I don't even know his name."
Dude... She is literally talking about Vlad. You literally know Vlad.
Still, it's actually pretty cute that she managed to get to him. Vlad is always dry when talking to you, and he never cared for socializing with the people here. You decide to keep his identity a secret from Nadia, you think it'll be cuter for her this way to learn herself.
"One time, I accidentally left the letter I had written to my brother at our post. And then perhaps the other guard mistook it as a letter I left for him. He even wrote me a reply. I could read between the lines and tell that he was probably very lonely, so I thought it would be good along with it to help him this way. But eventually, writing to him also became a part of my life. I've even started looking forward to receiving his letters, hehe...!"
You feel a weird, bittersweet emotion from her words. You wonder if your letters to Scaramouch help him feel any better, wherever he is at the moment. He never wrote back to you, but you're still dedicated to writing to him often.
You... You hope he also looks forward to receiving your letters.
"That's good, Nadia! I hope things keep going well with this mysterious pen-pal," You wink at her, nudging her arm, "Who knows, maybe he's very handsome, too."
She blushes under her mask, though you can barely see it. "I-I... Don't you have to talk to Ekaterina?! Ge-Get going...!"
"Alright, alright," You pull open the door, "Have a good night, Nadia."
"Ye-Yes, you too."
Poor Ekaterina was sitting at the counter doing late-night paperwork. You don't know exactly what her job entails, but you have a funny feeling Childe makes her job more stressful.
"Hello, Ekaterina!" You greet her as cheerfully as you can because you have a feeling that your happiness will make her annoyed.
And you were right.
She glares at you and you feel it through her mask, "[L/n]. What. Is. Wrong. With. You."
"Want me to go alphabetically, or chronologically?"
"...???"
"Never mind," You shake your head, "I want to talk to your boss. Is Lord Childe here?"
"Do you not realize what time it is? He's already retired for the night hours ago, so you'll have to try your luck tomorrow."
"Riiiigt, right. I figured, but I thought I should take my chances anyway. Anyway, I wanted to take out a small loan for myself. I'm finally cashing in my vacation starting tomor–Uh, I guess starting today, I mean."
"Wait. A vacation? That's a bit last minute, isn't it?"
"Yeah, I guess. But I already received permission from the Fair Lady, so I'm being responsible, don't worry."
"Yes, I figured as much, otherwise you wouldn't have bothered. But still, don't you want to wait? I mean, the Rite of Parting is the day after tomorrow. Don't you want to stick around for it?
You furrow your brows and cross your arms, "Not to be callous, but no. There's something else I'm more interested in, and I know I'll be way too restless to wait any longer so I'll just do it now."
Ekaterina looks put off by your attitude since you're usually more amendable to reason but it seems that doesn't apply whenever it comes to your own personal interests/research. Ah, but she knows that Childe wouldn't want you to go since he likes you, he's admitted to that before in passing. And Kazuki might have some reservations about it as well, or maybe, he'd even want to go with you.
"I-I see. Well... Alright, then," Ekaterina says with a slight sigh, "Give me a moment to finish up here, and I'll get to the paperwork for the withdrawal."
"Sure, take your time," You smile, "Actually, I'll be leaving now to get sleep. We can get this sorted out in a few hours after some rest, right?"
"Yes, that will be fine. Have a good rest, [L/n]."
"You too, Ekaterina."
You turn around to leave, but you don't get to the door.
"Ah–Wait! I almost forgot!"
You turn around at Ekaterina's sudden shout. You walk back curiously as she shuffles through a stack of papers from behind her desk. You don't rush her, waiting patiently as you lean on the desk. She picks up a small stack of papers, and dreadfully, you believe that it is all yours. To your luck, she stifles through them and separates a slightly thick envelope wrapped in a thin, red string before handing them to you.
Thank God.
You smile and mutter out thanks, taking the envelope from the woman before leaving the bank. You recognize the envelope as being the common ones used in Snezhnaya, more precisely, used at the Zapolyarny Palace. There wasn't a wax seal or a name though, only that it was addressed to you: [Y/n] [L/n], written very neatly. Just from holding it, you can feel there are other papers inside it.
Walking back to the place you and the other Fatuus are staying at takes another about two hours because Liyue is fucking huge. You left the bank around 23:35, but you don't get to your location until 1:42. You hate it here. However, the air is crisp and cool, so you didn't mind the walk too much. There were only a few people out since there were some shops open this late at night. You wave to a few you pass by regularly, though you wouldn't say you're on friendly terms with them, you see each other often enough to at least say hi.
Your identity as a Fatui isn't exactly a secret, so, commonly, you'll get the cold shoulder and unwarranted disrespect. However, you're friendly and outwardly honest enough that you managed to get a good majority of Liyue to like you... Enough.
You still experience distrust and discrimination because of your occupation. You guess there's just no helping it.
Entering your room, you make sure to lock the door behind you and shuck off your coat. You tilt your head side to side, flopping down on your bed face first.
You're ready to pass out then and there, but you're curious about the mail in your hands. You push yourself up and kick off your shoes, moving further up the bed so you can sit cross-legged.
There are separate letters inside it, one addressed to La Signora, one addressed to Tartaglia, and one to yourself. Strange, the main mail was addressed to you, so why did you get Signora's and Childe's letters as well? Was it a mistake?
Either way, you don't want to get in trouble and risk it, so you'll only open yours. You'll just have to make sure to give these out to their proper owners in the morning after you sleep. There isn't a wax seal, so it was easy enough to retrieve the hand-written letter.
————
06 . 08 . XXXX
To My Faithful Servant,
I hope you haven't been completely useless without me for the past six months. It HAS been six months, right? At least for you anyway, but that's beside the point.
I've finally returned to Snezhnaya as of this morning, though I'll be staying at Zapolyarny Palace for another month to complete some work for the Doctor. For your own safety, I advise you to stay where you are in Liyue until I have time to get you myself.
Actually, I think it'd be better if you start working under Tartaglia until then, I don't trust that witch as far as I can throw her. I'll write up an appeal for you to give over to Signora and Tartaglia separately. I'll make sure to include them in the letter before sending it out.
Anyway, you can stop worrying so much. If I knew you'd send letters this frequently, I would've just brought you instead. But now that I think about it, you probably would give me a big headache the whole time, so never mind.
If you want to keep sending your pointless letters, then be my guest. I won't bother replying, but at least that way I know you're still alive and I won't need to hire a new second in command.
You're extremely lucky I happen to find you tolerable. When I see you again, be ready to be put to work.
From "Your Dearest,"
Scaramouche
————
You scoff out a laugh, get up from your bed, and hurry to your desk.
Fuck that guy, you're writing back immediately. As a matter of fact, you don't give a fuck, you're going to be sappy as fuck because you'll admit, you miss that cuck. From the date, he sent this last week. If you send it first thing tomorrow, then he should receive it in a week as well.
————
Scaramouche sighs quietly, closing the door to his chambers gently as he simply lacks the energy for anything else. He's finding himself to be more monotonous as of late, maybe due to the temporary routine of his life. It hasn't even been two weeks since he returned to the Zapolyarny Palace and he's already getting bored of his time here.
He has to endure the Doctor's experiments since returning, doing his own fucking paperwork because while he usually has you doing it, he doesn't trust his other subordinates with it.
He does nothing but train, endure experiments, paperwork, and repeat.
And now it's time for the last part of his routine.
Paperwork.
He sits down at his desk, glaring at the stacks of paper with hatred and disdain, snatching his fountain pen aggressively to get started-
The top of the stack was an envelope with a wax seal he recognized immediately. He drops the pen and carefully (but eagerly) takes the letter and unseals the wax with practiced habit. Scaramouche doesn't realize he's smiling as the familiar scent of your perfume gets stronger when he takes out the letter. He doesn't understand why, but you've always done that with the letters.
He can't say he hates it though.
Ah, the date is from last week. Did you send this the day you got his letter?
————
06 . 15 . XXXX
To My Dearest, Loveliest, Most Criminally Insane Boss,
It's wonderful to hear from you, My Lord! It's okay to admit that you missed me too, I promise to keep it a secret.
I can't lie, I was very happy to hear that you are okay and back at the Palace that I hate spelling. I hope the Doctor hasn't been too overbearing for you, I know how much he displeases you and that's putting it lightly. Let us both pray the days go by fast for us so this month can be over.
I imagine you must have wonderful stories to tell from your time away, I expect nothing less from the mighty Harbinger such as yourself!
...
Are you getting annoyed yet? Haha! Sorry, maybe being in Liyue for this long has put me in too good of a mood lately. There are so many fascinating things about this place and so many things to learn about. Actually, tomorrow I'm taking a short vacation to visit Sal Terrae with (hopefully) my companion, Kazuki. Did you know that the God of Salt was most likely killed by her own people? Well, that's actually why I want to visit it, to confirm it myself. I doubt I'll make any paper about it, this is just to sedate my own curiosity.
I just realized you won't care for this... I don't have the energy to rewrite this though so tough luck.
Anyway, later this morning (it will already have passed by the time you get this) will be the Rite of Parting for Rex Lapis. I already told you in another letter, but that bitch dead as hell. Not to sound disrespectful, but I'm not NEARLY as interested in that as I am for the God of Salt. Hopefully, Lord Childe and Kazuki can tell me about it, I'm sure they'll both be participating.
Sorry for rambling, I tend to do that too much in all my letters don't I? Why is that? Probably because it's easier to talk to you like this when I'm not in pimp-slapping range. And I can't see the disgust on your face because I can't shut the fuck up. Sorry, ignore that.
I'll wrap this up now. You said I don't have to keep writing to you, but then I'd be making your life too easy, and we can't have that, can we?
Take care, and I'll write again next week with another update.
Your Wonderful, Favorite, Totally Amazing Servant,
[Y/n]
[L/n]
————
The Balladeer shakes his head with a smile, opening the top drawer to put it alongside the other letters he's kept. Though, he pauses right as he's about to set it down.
He sets it back on the table and opens up another drawer where he keeps his papers and envelopes.
It'd just be rude to not write back. Not that he particularly cares if he hurts your feelings or not, but this is a lot better than doing fucking paperwork.
————
06 . 21 . XXXX
To My Wonderful, Favorite, Totally Amazing Servant,
These titles are getting ridiculous, and frankly, too tiresome to write.
You're right about one thing, I DO miss you... I miss you doing all my paperwork for me, that's for damn sure. I never realized how tiresome and boring it was to do this, is this what you go through? If so, Thank GOD I won't have to do it for much longer. Once you return to my side, you're going to be very busy catching up on all the work I don't want to do.
I'm afraid I don't have anything worth sharing on my time away, so I'll have to disappoint you with that. From what you've told me, that seems to be the complete opposite of your time in Liyue. You certainly seem happier there than in Snezhnaya, perhaps you ought to stay there.
I at least know you tend to get too caught up in your research. If I didn't know any better, I could've mistaken you for a Sumeru Scholar. Maybe the Haravat Darshan would take you eagerly, though I don't know much about the Akademiya to make a proper guess.
Why don't you give me a brief essay on the God of Salt as a practice assessment once you finish your investigation? I'll determine for you whether you'll get accepted or not; I figure you'll be done with Sal Terrae once you receive this. But be warned, I won't hold back so don't disappoint me with your essay, or I'll be forced to give you a failing grade.
What did Childe tell you about the Rite of Parting? Did anything interesting happen, or is it as boring as all funerals?
You know, you're not as irritating as everyone else who works for me. If you made it sound interesting, then perhaps I can tolerate you telling me more of your knowledge in person.
No promises, though.
By the time you get this, I might already be on the way to Liyue. How about this instead of waiting for me in Liyue, why don't you start making your way to Mondstadt? The Jester wants me to do something for him in the nation of Freedom, so it'll be less of a hassle to meet you there instead. I can trust you to travel alone and make it there alive, right?
I hate to be disappointed in you over something so simple.
Your Dearest, Loveliest, Most Cri
Ugh, like I said. Too much of a hassle.
Sincerely,
Scaramouche
————————
A/N: I actually read ALL books of "Customs of Liyue" and "Records of the Gallant" from the Genshin Archives in game to get the information I wrote down. Not only that, I was walking place to place to determine the lore-accurate time it takes to get from Point A to Point B. It's a thankless job but it must be done.

PROLOGUE
Tumblr media
. .𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘀. .
"Experiment 8509, please try to move your right arm." the smaller silhouette does as asked, the attempt to move the right arm is successful with much struggle and hesitation.
"Very good, you've passed phase one..you may be useful after all. Phase two will be targeted soon..Tomorrow, we will start phase two. Be prepared 8509. Your orders until then are to rest.. Goodnight.." with the sound of heels clacking and a loud slam the room turned shifts into an uncomfortable silence.
...
"This is a doctor lociva, It seems Experiment 8509 behavior has become an issue. During phase one he was blank. Seemingly bored or dead if you wish, we are now at phase 5, he has become unpredictable and brash 8 other clones have been sent into his room to continue with phase 5 testing and each one has came out either dismembered or visibly unrecognizable, this may become a bigger issue later on if his emotional state gets worse. He may become a failed experiment later on. Please keep 8509 on notice.'' Just as the female's voice finishes talking, a slam is heard , the sight of a body flying to the other side of the hallway is seen, dismembered as the organs of the victim are missing as well as his eyes and tongue.
"this makes 9..please add this to the notice."
...
"Kuma.."
"Yes E8509?"
"I don't want this.."
"Unfortunately E8509..i have no say in this. And neither do you."
...
"This is doctor Locova speaking, doctor kuma has been killed by E8509, reason being unknown as doctor kuma didn't record her testing with experiment 8509, with only 5 qualified doctors left we may have to cancel the experiment with 8509. E8509 behavior has worsened much more than we expected. We have attempted to find out the cause of the emotional change, but every time it is brought up 8509 acts harsh and rash towards whoever. Even doctor kuma who was said to be the experiments favorite"
...
"It seems you have been causing trouble for my clones and doctors, no?" A deep chuckle is heard after the sentence yet he gets no response, just two young red eyes glaring at him almost murderously as he speaks."hm, it seems they weren't wrong about your rash behavior. You weren't this way when the experiments started. Or when we 'found' you." just as the male says this a loud crash is heard. "Nice try, but I'm a bit more experienced than my..workers." the male says a mocking smile is heard in his voice. "I suppose so..it's only a matter of time you slip up..." with a ragged and bored toned voice the older male finally gets a response out of the experiment. He chuckles before responding, "I suppose~ you're right, but only time will tell, 8509."
"You disgust me."
"I can tell."
Just experiment grunts at this going back to ignoring the doctor before here hears the sound of liquids being mixed.
"Don't worry. It's simply a numbing agent."
"I'm not going to let you."
"And why is that?"
"I have no reason to."
"Do you not trust me?"
"The last time I did it went wrong for me, did it not?"
"Hm, fair point."
Before The experiment can respond he feels a prick on his arm.
"Goodnight 8509. We will resume phase 12 while you're unconscious."

Chapter 1 — I'll Be Gone.
A tall woman clad in dark shades of red and black passes through the cold and unwelcoming hallways of the Abyss. She's one of the few who has retained her human form and even most of her personality. The Abyss—the Void Realm—does indeed have a dark habit of warping human personalities beyond recognition.
Meanwhile, most in the Abyss have lost their true selves to the never ending darkness. Their minds vengeful as their bodies became vehicles for destruction. And the darkness only spurs them on. To her, this is all more than sickening, and she can only imagine one other person sharing that sentiment—
"Is the plague prepared?"
A sudden voice derails her train of thought, and she's quick to back away from the doorway she had full intention of passing. She leans her back against the wall, falling into a state of silence and stillness.
"Nearly!"
She can only assume the worst about this plague. Choking back a scoff, she files this specific location into her mind for later, she then makes a quick departure.
(I need to make a cure for this plague as quickly as I can,) She thinks; adjusting her black gloves. A nervous habit. (Or else they’ll send this plague to Teyvat in order to cause chaos… And who knows what it’s truly capable of.)
That night, she mixes the cure with the scarce ingredients she could hunt down. It takes two days to find everything as the Abyss is as barren as Khaenri'ah. Sure, there are plenty of vast collections of ingredients, but it's often stored behind lock and key. The Abyss Order never trusted her too much, anyway.
She suffers from her own "plights and struggles"—one's that often interfered with the Order's plans. And the Void Realm itself could never quite tear her down into the little pieces it so desires. She has her reasons for resisting its effects, but it's a deep-seated secret in her heart—one she buried six feet under a long time ago.
Eyes glazing over with so many emotions—she stumbles through the halls in her sleep-deprived state. She worked tirelessly for this very moment. This moment to give Teyvat a bit longer to live in prosperity.
Arriving in the room that hosts the plague vial—she's tearful, fatigued, nauseated; ready to sob and break down at any moment. She pushes herself to persevere through all that stands in her way, all for a place she's never been too familiar with. When she finds the bedeviled vial, she pops it open and shifts her other hand to drip her own concoction in—
"Hauteclaire!" A Herald howls behind her—she can hear the quick summoning of water blades. "What do you think you're doing?!" He takes one step closer, his heavy steps thundering through the room.
"I was checking the vial to ensure its…effectiveness." Hauteclaire—the woman of a bygone time—lies through her teeth. And with that said, she quickly pockets her cure, yet it's spotted anyway.
"You…You are betraying us once more. We have been too lenient with you!" He growls, charging at her with his blades drawn and ready to cut her down.
"Ah, so you knew of my escapades all along—" She retorts, blocking his blade with her own steel one, "—this place is more than despicable, more than disgusting. I've had enough of the Prince and everyone else!" She spits, pushing him back and away from her.
She glances at her sword, a bitter and painful memory filling her mind—
The alchemist's friends' thin lips curve into a mischievous smile, the knowing glint in his shimmering cerulean eyes says it all,
"I know you hate gifts, but…I'd like you to take this. I had it specially made for you. Happy birthday, Claire."
It's a sword of gleaming silver blue, the very one she wields now in the present. And the very one she's left behind—embedded into the Herald's thorax before storming out of this realm once and for all.
“I’m sorry.”
———
As she rushes out of the Abyss, the world becomes hazy and foggy to a disorienting degree. Her sleep-deprived state is now catching up to her more than ever before. Even as she stumbles and trips over her own feet, she makes it out of the Abyss without ever looking back.
She finally makes it into a thick forest prior to collapsing onto her knees, and then falling face down. Thoroughly exhausted, she wheezes into the chilly air—leaving behind a breathy fog. Her hands ball into fists, clutching the freezing yet soft snow beneath her.
Unable to manage her starvation, her fatigue, and her numb heart—she descends into an uncomfortable stupor.

I Wish You Died Instead Ch. 6
[Scaramouce x Fem!Reader]
A/N: I started writing this before all of his lore came out/Before the last Sumeru Archon quest, so there will be a handful of inconsistency later on. My advice to you? Just go with it!
{Also on Quotev, Ao3, and Wattpad under Gabriel Xander}
Chapter 6: Bitches on Me Left and Right
You furrow your brows in your reflection, putting in the red dangling earring that Childe had given you. You tug at the fluffy collar around your neck and sigh heavily. You're going to ditch the coat. It's your first day in Liyue and the weather is already getting to you.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
Who the fuck is that? Aside from La Signora's direct subordinates, no one should be coming to get you. And you shouldn't have any visitors either.
You grab your mask from the nightstand next to the mirror, making sure it's secure on your face.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
You hold back the sigh and drop your coat onto the bed and rush to the door. You swing the door open and automatically stand up straight.
"Good mor-NAOOO!!"
You throw your mask off and throw your arms around Kazuki's neck, pulling that fucker into a hug. You feel his arms go around your waist, squeezing the life out of your. Your best friend chuckles and sways you both side to side.
"You should've told me you were coming. I thought you were working for the Knave for the time being."
"I-I had no time to write to you, the Fair Lady suddenly requested my recruitment," You pulled away from the pretty man, holding him at arm's length with a grin, "Oh, Nao! I missed you so much! Did your hair get longer? We should trim it. You wanna have lunch with me? Show me around Liyue! Oh! How is Lord Childe? Are you two getting along? How have your missions been? Do you think-"
Kazuki cups your face with both hands, and leans forward to kiss your forehead.
You stop immediately, your shoulders relax and you allow yourself to enjoy the moment. He pulls away after a few seconds, wrapping his arms around you again and hugs you close. You just sink into the embrace, smiling to yourself and relishing in the familiar touch of your best friend.
"We have a few hours to ourselves, let's go get something to eat first, yeah?"
You nod.
"There's a few places I want to take you. My favorite place is the Liuli Pavillion, but Xinyue Kiosk is really good too. And maybe later tonight, we can head to Third-Round Knockout for drinks."
"I don't know any of those places, so I'll trust your judgment on this one."
Kazuki pulls away and smirks very slightly, "Come on, let's get going."
————
Kazuki takes you straight to Liuli Pavillion for breakfast, ordering a lot of Liyue dishes that he thought you'd like since you're a bit hesitant to try new foods you're unfamiliar with. They didn't have forks or spoons though, only "chopsticks", which kind of sucked ass.
Kazuki was already a master of them, making fun of you as you struggled to get food in your mouth. You felt so bad though, he ordered so much food but you barely managed to finish one and a half of the seven dishes he ordered.
"No matter," Kazuki simply said, "We'll box this and take it back to where you're staying."
"You're too frivolous with your Mora."
"You're just jealous that I make more money than you."
"Yes I am, and I'll die mad about it."
"Hm."
Fucker.
After that, he takes you around the city to look around, buying you a few trinkets and clothing if you spend a second too long looking at it. Kazuki is too eager when it comes to buying you things, since that's his love language–both platonically and romantically. And Kazuki? He loves you very much, and you love him just the same.
However... Kazuki was insistent on carrying everything for you, but he started buying you too many things that you also have to carry. And not is not an issue either, but both of your arms are getting full and supposedly he wants to take you somewhere else?
"Uh, Nao... I-I don't need that, I swear! My eyes just looked at it for a second!."
"Nonsense. You like the color, don't you?" Kazuki hums, holding up a skirt that, yes, was very pretty in color. "How much is it, boss?"
"Naooo!" You whine, your arms beginning to get sore from carrying so many things.
"Well, if it isn't [Y/n]!"
Ah fuck berries!!
You turn to the voice with a tired smile. "Lord Childe! It's good to see you! Ah, and... you are?"
You don't know if it's good or bad luck that Childe managed to find you. You knew he was still in Liyue, but you thought maybe at the moment he was dealing with his Harbinger duties? Walking next to him was Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome. Well, not really dark since his skin was pretty pale. But his overall color scheme was browns and golds.
"I am Zhongli, a close associate of Childe," The man greets politely with a smile, "I assume you are as well?"
...You are as well what?
Oh!
"Yeah, I guess you can say that. It's nice to meet you, Mr. Zhongli. You can call me [Y/n]," You nod.
You didn't understand why he'd think you're close with Childe, but you guess it's because of your matching earring with the Harbinger. You don't know if that warrants an assumption that you two are close, but you guess it doesn't really matter.
"What are you doing here in Liyue, [Y/n]? Is your boss here too?" Childe asks.
"Uh, he's-"
"-Perhaps we should talk somewhere else and not hold up the stall," Kazuki cuts in, "Not to mention, I believe [Y/n] is getting tired from carrying all this. I should escort her back to where she's staying so we can drop this off."
Ah, you know that look. To outsiders, his blank expression is one that never changes no matter what emotion he feels. However, yOu'Re NoT lIkE tHe OtHeR gIrLs and you notice every slight change in his expression and body language. You can read that he was actually feeling quite annoyed that his alone time with you is likely coming to an end.
"Oh, why don't we help you with that?"
As Childe decides this all on his own, he takes the bags from your arms, and the boxes you were holding. He was having a much easier time than you were, and Zhongli even took it upon himself to take a few things from Childe to help him too.
You smile at Kazuki apologetically, taking some things from his arms now that you had more help. He narrows his eyes slightly, getting more irritated as the second passes.
"Lead the way, [Y/n]," Childe smiles.
And lead the way you did. You take your gaggle of friends (Can you call Childe and Zhongli your friends? You feel that's a bit unprofessional and a bit presumptuous of you to assume you're all already friends) to the place you, La Signora, and the other Harbingers under her command are staying. Though as you get closer, Childe seems to light up.
"Oh, you're staying here?" Childe speeds up a bit to walk closer to you, "What a coincidence! My troops and I are staying here as well!"
FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC!!
So not only are you blessed that Kazuki is in the same building as you, you're also cursed that Childe has easy access to you too now!
You'd be more open to being Childe's friend if you weren't super cautious of ALL the Harbingers. He seems really nice, and expressed that he desires to be your friend, but that doesn't suddenly make you more trusting.
"I should warn you, Lord Childe. I'm not here for Lord Scaramouche, I'm here with the Fair Lady," You inform, walking up the stairs to get to your floor, "So you should do your best to avoid her... Don't tell her I said that."
"La Signora?" Childe frowns, "But why are you with her? You're Scaramouche's subordinate, aren't you? Did something happen?"
You shrug, "My Lord was sent somewhere, but that's all I know since he refused to tell me anything more. He said he could be gone for a while, so in the meantime he ordered me to assist any other Harbinger so that my skill isn't going to waste. The only person he prohibited for me to help was the Doctor, so there's that."
You're too busy to not trip over the stairs to see the look on Childe's face. Maybe if you were paying more attention, you would've noticed how... guilty he looked when you mentioned the Balladeer was sent somewhere.
"So that's why I'm here with La Signora. Before this, I was with the Knave."
"I heard she's a stone cold bitch," Kazuki hums, "I hope that wasn't too unbearable."
"Ooh, watch your tone in the presence of another Harbinger," You snicker, "Lord Childe might rat you out."
"Ah!" The ginger makes an exaggerated noise as if he was offended, "Comrade! I would do no such thing!"
"It's true. Lord Childe's favorite pastime is to shit talk-"
"Ah-ha ha ha! Ah, Kazuki...!" The Harbinger clears his throat, sending a not very subtle message to keep the other quiet.
"Yeah, yeah," You hum, walking down the short hall until you get to your door, "So, Mr. Zhongli, what do you do for a living? I don't think I've had the chance to ask yet."
Appreciating that he could be part of the conversation now, the brunette offers you a smile even if you couldn't see it, "I am a consultant at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. I perform all manners of ritual for burying the dead, along as funeral rites for the adepti."
"Oh wow! That's pretty serious stuff. And that's really admirable too, you know? It can't be easy being surrounded by death all the time, and having being the one to send them off too? Your work is very important to a lot of people, Mr. Zhongli. I hope you take a lot of pride in that."
Zhongli smiles a little more genuinely at your words, "I'm glad you understand and see the importance as well. It's nice to meet and talk to someone who can appreciate what I do... No offense, Childe."
"Wha–Well, I didn't take offense until after you said that!"
"Me personally, sir," Kazuki leans towards the ginger, "I wouldn't let that slide."
"Do NOT be an instigator, Kazuki!" You laugh.
Putting your shit in the room didn't take too long, as you told them you'll properly put it all away later tonight. You did forget that Kazuki plans on keeping you busy for a long time, so it might actually have to wait until tomorrow morning. But that's tomorrow's problem.
Today? It's your day off and you might as well spend it with some friends while you can.

05 . 14 . XXXX
My Dearest Scaramouche,
...
...
Ha ha! I bet that got your attention, didn't it? Since I've never addressed my letters to you that way; it's always been "To My Lord" and all that. I thought the change would be funny, and it would keep you on your toes.
Let's see.
It's been about five months since I've last seen you, five months since you were sent away by Lord Pierro. I wonder... I'll just be frank. I am, admittedly, getting worried about you.
I've been told my letters are getting to you, but I haven't received anything back. And if you had died, I CERTAINLY would've gotten word about it, too. But that might be very presumptuous of me to assume that you'd even write back. We're not remotely close, or friends for that matter, so you have no reason to respond. But you ARE my boss, and it's always been my duty to protect you.
How have you been? I hope you haven't been through too much, I know how much work inconveniences you very easily. How are the people who accompanied you? I heard you only brought along two other people; are you treating them well? Are they treating YOU well?
I've done as you said, helping the other Harbingers, staying clear of Il Dottore, doing my best, not letting my skill go to waste.
...
Do you remember all those months ago when we investigated those Treasure Hoarders? Noah, Ivan, and Isaac? And when we got the information we needed from them, you...
I think about them a lot. You had the mercy of allowing me to look away and not help you bury them, but I still carry the burden knowing that we had killed them. That YOU killed them and I did nothing about it. I always took it for granted, how you always let my hands stay clean, how you never forced me to look.
... I've seen a lot of fucked up shit when I was working with the other Harbingers, especially the Knave. They made me do horrible things too. Well... normal things expected of a Fatui, I think.
For the past month, I've been working with the Fair Lady, and we've been residing in Liyue. I don't really do much. She makes me do paper work, help out at the Northland Bank, keep tabs on Lord Tartaglia and Mr. Zhongli of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. She hasn't told me why, but I honestly think she might just be nosy. Don't tell her I said that, okay?
Kazuki has been a little more... reserved? I don't know what happened to him while we were separated, but I hope one of these days, he can open up to me and tell me what's happened to him. He's my best friend, you know? He's my person. Did you have someone like that before? DO you have someone like that?
I'm getting a little sleepy now, so I'll wrap this up. I know you're getting these, but I have no idea if you're reading them or not. If you don't, then that's fine. At least then you wouldn't have to read all my embarrassing thoughts.
And if you do...
I hope you're okay, and I hope I can see you again soon. Please take care.
Your faithful servant,
[L/n]

"Hmph..." Scaramouche smiles tiredly, "What an idiot..."
He sighs through his nose and folds the paper up, tucking it away in his open kimono for safe keeping with the rest of the letters. He looks down at the two spots near his camp. Two half-assed graves that he made almost immediately when he arrived.
The two that had accompanied him survived the best they could, but he's not completely surprised that they have died after a few years. After all, they're only human.
It's moments like these where he's glad he fought tooth and nail to convenience Pierro to let you stay behind with the other Harbingers instead of letting you accompany him.
In your letter, you said it's been about five months since he had departed, but to him it's been nearly three centuries. Time works differently in the Abyss. If he had to make the estimate, one day to you is about one year for him. So by that measurement, you've been sending him letters once every two weeks, but he's only been receiving them once every 40 years or so.
He's actually very grateful for your letters. It helps him keep track of time, helps him stay somewhat sane, helps him remember that it hasn't ACTUALLY been 300 years, helps him not feel THAT lonely...
It helps remind him you haven't died, and that you're still waiting for him.
You're still waiting for him...
Scaramouche stands up and works to put out the fire.
He can't send you anything back even if he wanted to, the only papers he has are for his reports back to Pierro and he's already running out. You'll just have to wait for him for a little while longer.
For now, he'll do the best he can to hurry up. It's not that he particularly cares about you, but he supposes he should repay you with his presence.
It's the least he can do in return for all your letters.
Scaramouche leaves his camp with a slight smile.
He can't let himself die, he's extremely looking forward to your next letter, after all.

Tumblr media
kaeya alberich
kaeya had been sitting in his seat for far too long (it’s really only been a minute) and decided that he needed some fresh air. being captain of the knights of favonius really took so much time out of his beautiful day. he sighed and easily reattached his fur cape onto his collar with one hand before he began to seek you.
he strode down the streets of mond, greeting the locals with his charming smile. but there was still no sign of you yet! perhaps if he took one more round in the city centre he’d find you…
“i think that’s it for me, thanks blanche!” you were about to take your bag of goods from the counter when you felt two arms snake around your waist. “huh—”
you turned around confused until you saw who it was, a relieved sigh then leaving your lips.
“hello snowflake,” he greeted you with a smile reserved only for you.
“kaeya, hi.” your face brightened at the sight of your lover, hands resting on his biceps. “what are you doing here?” you could feel his fingers playing with the hem of your shirt, a habit you noticed he did every time his hands were on you.
he made a melodramatic sigh, nuzzling his face into the crook of your neck. “my love, i’ve been looking for you everywhere.” he felt himself recharging with every second you were with him. “my day is beautiful again now that i’m with you, what are you doing here anyway?”
“i was buying things for… dinner,” you said the last part quietly, cheeks warming because you’ve never really cooked for kaeya before but the idea happened to cross your mind earlier in the afternoon, hence why he found you at the general goods shop. “wanna join me?”
“for dinner?” kaeya removed himself from your neck, raising a brow. “are you going to cook for us both?” he asked, tone ending in a teasing lilt. his voice made your knees melt.
you purse your lips in an embarrassed manner, nodding your head. “if you’re free after—”
“now, now—” kaeya shook his head, swiftly taking your bag of goods from the counter before snaking his free arm around your waist again. “—you know i always have time for you, snowflake.”
diluc ragnvindr
you were by the couch in front of a fire, reading through a book that’s caught your attention for the past hour. it was usually around this time that you would visit diluc in his office to ask for cuddles but… you never came.
thus diluc made the courageous decision to seek your attention. he made his way out of his office and down the staircase, spotting your figure sitting on the couch. your nose was so far up the pages in your book that you didn’t even hear his footsteps.
“have you had dinner yet, my dear?” your eyes snapped away from the book, revealing your face and warm cheeks to diluc. you shut your book softly, not forgetting to bookmark the page you left off.
“i haven’t, i was so caught up in my book i didn’t realise,” you said, naturally not realising what diluc was here for. he was a tad bit unimpressed with how you forgot to visit him; he was expectantly waiting for your cuddles, staring at his office door and focusing on the sounds outside to identify which footsteps were yours. but none of them were.
“was it the book you bought from our journey in liyue?” diluc inquired, casually plopping his head on your lap. his messy ponytail became even messier but that was fine, he knew you would offer to redo it for him later.
your fingers acted on their own as they gently carded through his soft crimson locks. “it was,” you replied in a whisper. then his eyes suddenly locked with yours and it startled you so you had to ask what was wrong.
“is that why you didn’t visit my office for the past three hours?” he deadpanned at you, jokingly of course. when the man discovered that you had grown fond of this reaction, he couldn’t help but make the face more often.
you laughed and the corners of diluc’s lips tugged upwards in a smile. but what caught him off guard as he was lovingly gazing up at you was when you began pinching his cheeks.
“your expressions are so cute, if only everyone else could see them.” diluc tried to conceal his blush, clearly working to no avail because you seemed to laugh louder as he averted his gaze elsewhere.
“i won’t forget to visit you next time.” you leaned down to plant a kiss on his forehead, grinning in satisfaction when diluc’s cheeks completely camouflaged with his hair.
zhongli
zhongli was in need of something from you. as he sat in his usual spot at third-round knockout, his head could not stop turning about, perking up to the slightest calls from one person to another. where were you? he normally saw you running around this area at this time.
but of course! on the day zhongli needed something from you, you coincidentally weren’t around. if the adeptus had learnt anything during his time on teyvat, it was that the world really knew how to test one's patience. he sighed inwardly, about to revert his attention back to iron tongue tian until he saw the figure of your head amongst the crowd of people walking around.
the poor adeptus almost spit out the tea he was supposed to swallow, and after apologising to nobody for his poor etiquette, he stood up and rushed over to you.
“y/n! y/n, hello,” zhongli greeted you warmly with that smile on his face that made him look like a happy puppy that found his owner.
your expression softened at the familiar call of your name, knowing immediately who the voice belonged to. grinning, you thought it was adorable. which made you reciprocate his energy.
“my dear, the look on your face is making me believe you’ve done something audacious.” you raised a brow, looking at him up and down suspiciously.
zhongli’s heart churned, this was it! the look that did something to his poor heart made him unable to contain the expression that crept up to his face. he was waiting the whole day for you! and now that you’re here giving him what he wanted, he just couldn’t quell the excitement surging through his veins.
was he blushing? was he just hot from the weather? whatever the look on his face was, you were still absolutely stunned. never in your time with zhongli had he made a face like this before.
you quite liked it.
“hm…” you tilted your head, looping your arm with zhongli’s. he heard the playful tone in your voice and he was living for it. “it seems that mr zhongli of the wangsheng funeral parlour is in need of some entertainment. might i borrow you this afternoon, dearest?”
zhongli nodded his head (with such enthusiasm too, there were practically stars in his eyes!). his smile was accompanied by the light blush dusted across his cheeks, arm tingling when it came in contact with yours. “of course dear, my time is yours.”
childe
you were by wanmin restaurant, chatting it up with xiangling about her newest dish you were just obsessed with. you wanted to order it again for takeaway but those incoming footsteps from behind you were quite concerning. so you turned around in curiosity because why is someone running to you at such speed?
“my looove!” oh.
you chuckled, opening your arms to accept childe into your embrace. “now what are you doing here?” you greeted as he nuzzled his face into your neck, feeling him softly exhale on your skin while his arms wrapped snugly around your waist.
“i’m not allowed to come see you when i want to? that’s so unfair of you.” childe pouted, removing himself from your neck.
“thought you’d be out ‘til the evening so i wasn’t expecting you,” you reply, briefly combing his hair down from its usual wildness. “oh! have you returned from a spar?” you bid xiangling a goodbye before heading out with ajax.
“i have! and…” the bright look on his face quickly dissipated when he showed you his upper arm after rolling up a bit of his sleeve. “i got just a little carried away in the process.” ajax looked at you with his blue eyes that feigned pain. “fix me up?” he suggested meekly.
who were you to say no to that? of course you would help your lover patch up his wounds. so after walking over to your home, you sat ajax on a chair and told him to stay put to which he replied with an animated nod of the head.
you returned with a first aid kit, quickly dabbing alcohol on his cut before bandaging him up. normally ajax never came to you with any wounds after sparring so this was a little unusual—but he was human. he would get hurt.
while you were in your little bubble of thoughts, childe was practically vibrating in his seat. the toothy grin on his face brighter than the sun that shone upon liyue, he finally had you all to himself now! and you were patching him up, these results were much better than he could’ve imagined. he’s always wished of being aided by you, since your touch was so gentle and warm.
he leaned into you, placing his forehead on your shoulder. and like a kitten he nuzzled his face into your neck. “missed you,” he mumbled, although muffled you understood what he said. pulling him further into your embrace, you let your warmth surround him. “missed you too.”
kaedehara kazuha
kazuha sits idly by a tree in liyue, whistling softly to greet the sight of the serene horizon. the sun rises gradually and soon, so will you. he lets the leaf he was playing with fly with the morning breeze, getting up to greet you a good morning.
kazuha knows just how far the sun has to hover above the horizon to know when you begin stirring out of your slumber. he enters the inn and takes the staircase to your room you booked, opening the door to find you stretching on the bed.
“good morning, my love.” his sweet voice makes your head snap upwards, your expression brightening at his presence. “morning, kazu.” you open your arms, inviting him in for a hug and he plays right into your little trap when you pull his body on top of yours.
kazuha yelps in surprise, face smacking into your pillow as he’s slotted right beside your face. he lifts his head up, shaking his head slightly in fondness. his baby hairs tickle your cheek. “you’ve just woken up but you already have the energy to play tricks like this.”
you snake your arms around his waist, pulling him flat against your body. “that’s what makes life fun, kazu.” you nuzzle your face into his warm neck. “but i might have to cut this moment short, boss needs me at the restaurant.”
what. kazuha blinks owlishly at nothing in particular. what do you mean your boss needs you at work right now? no. nope! kazuha doesn’t like the turn of events. he swears today is your day off!
“i thought you had the day off?” he raises a brow at you, trying not to sound too disappointed.
“i was supposed to but boss came over last night when you went to buy us dinner and practically begged on her knees for me to go to work.” your voice is laced with amusement as you remember the look on your boss’ face. “apparently two other employees had last minute plans they couldn’t cancel.” you remove your hands from his waist to place them on his cheeks.
kazuha doesn’t normally make such expressions so when your eyes land on his face, you can’t help but coo. “well we may stop by for some breakfast before i leave.”
his expression doesn’t improve.
you purse your lips. you’re trying your absolute hardest to contain your laughter. “i’ll ask boss to give me another day off? so i’ll have two days off to spend with you.”
kazuha shakes your hands off his cheeks so he can nuzzle his face into the juncture of your neck. “your boss should learn to keep her promises.”
thoma
“y/n! would you like me to make those pastries from yesterday?” thoma’s face pops up from behind the book you’re reading. you smile and put the book down momentarily.
“that would be love—”
“oh oh! what about those cakes from two days ago? i recall you saying that it was delicious for afternoon tea or i could make you—”
you stifle a laugh. to be honest, it has been a while since you two met up due to your busy schedules so his hyper attitude right now is understandable. but you don’t think you can have a proper conversation like this so you decide to mess with him. pulling a business smile on your face, you say, “good afternoon, commissioner.”
“h- huh?! good afternoon, my lord—” but when thoma lifts his head to greet his lord, he isn’t there. his brows furrow, whipping his head around to see the mischievous look on your face.
“y/n! that wasn’t funny.” he blushes at your teasing, pouting unintentionally in response.
you chuckle, raising your fingers to pinch both of his cheeks. “you can be so naive around me. it's adorable, thoma.”
the use of his name makes him gulp embarrassingly loud. in his kneeling position, he holds onto your wrists that now cup his warm cheeks. “i- i was just wondering if you wanted any cakes! my lord said i’m free for the rest of the afternoon so i thought—” thoma exhales shakily from your intense gaze before continuing, “—i thought i would be of service to you today.” he ends his sentence with a smile, bringing his gaze to meet yours.
your heart pounds in your ears. maintaining composure around your beloved one soon became difficult after time passed. but you learnt that letting your walls down for him was worth it.
“then let’s make those cakes together. didn’t you say you would help me improve my baking skills?” you take his hand from your wrist to guide both of you on your feet.
he nods his head like an obedient puppy. “i did!”
“then let’s head to my kitchen.”
kamisato ayato
it is rare for kamisato ayato to leave the main office. oftentimes he is drowned under paperwork that needs him to provide his official signature or input for upcoming events. however, ever since you came around, even the commissioner’s most capable retainer finds himself at a loss when in search of his lord.
the only reason ayato even leaves his office is because he hears the echo of your voice entering the estate after your afternoon walk around the city with your ladies in waiting. with swift movement, ayato relocates his work from his office into yours.
when you slide the shoji open, you flinch at the sight of the figure who’s been awaiting your arrival for the past hour (ayato’s distracted himself by busying his mind with official documents).
“welcome home, darling,” ayato greets you while his gloved fingers continue to sign pages with his brush, ink gliding over the documents smoothly.
heat rises to your face at the pet name. you promptly dismiss your ladies in waiting before they can see the expression on your face, maintaining it to the best of your abilities until they are gone.
“have you been here this whole time?” you slide the shoji shut behind you.
ayato raises his gaze from the document to flash you a smile. “yes i have.”
unfortunately for him, you don’t miss the cheeky glint in his eye. sitting down beside him, you scold him jokingly with a pointed finger. “tsk, you’re lying. i just saw thoma bring out your tea set from your office.”
“oh.” the single syllable word is emphasised by his lips that form an ‘o’ shape.
you don’t realise you’re holding in a laugh until it bursts out of you at the sight of him acting like this. ayato’s posture relaxes as your laughter fills your office. he puts his brush down to pull you closer to him so he can lay his forehead on your shoulder while an arm wraps around your waist.
“did you happen to bump into someone on your afternoon walk?” ayato’s eyes flutter shut, fatigue finally hitting him when your warm palm rises to caress his cheek.
strands of his hair tickle your chin as you reply, “yes, i met lady hiiragi near uyuu restaurant. she said she was waiting for one of her retainers.”
“you mean you spotted lady hiiragi on a secret outing with sir kujou.” ayato doesn’t fail to correct you, the corner of his lip rising in amusement.
you gasp knowingly, patting your lips to correct your words. “indeed that is what i saw.” you nod with a smile. “no wonder she was wearing such an atrocious looking kimono and styled her hair… like that. she was disguising herself.”
ayato lifts his head to meet your gaze and jokes, “i can only imagine what sir kujou was wearing.”
your eye twitches, a grimace appearing on your expression. “i’d rather not.”
the yashiro commissioner can only chuckle at your reaction. ah, he just loves it when you’re around.
alhaitham
the akademiya’s scribe is a rather quiet man. he only opens his mouth when necessary. for example, when his roommate, who cannot stop blabbering about a rather irritating client, comes waltzing through the hall, disturbing the peace of the scribe’s reading time, does he open his mouth to shoot him a sharp “shut up.”
another example is when a certain knock on the door is heard and kaveh goes to answer it.
“kaveh, hello! is alhaitham home?” it’s you.
the scribe is on his feet immediately. the blond yelps when he is shoved out of the way to make space for your lover, who greets you with a gentle smile. the book from earlier is now left disregarded on the chair.
“my dear, you’re here.”
alhaitham finds it difficult to stay quiet around you. there’s just always something to say when you’re right next to him. like right now as he offers his arm out for you to hold, before promptly announcing that he and you will take a stroll around the city. kaveh only gapes at the unusual behaviour of his roommate. poor man can never get used to it. you offer him an apologetic smile before leaving with alhaitham.
you sigh, patting on your lover’s arm scoldingly. “be nicer to that roommate of yours, did you see the stunned look on his face?”
“don’t look at his face, dear, it’ll stress you out,” alhaitham says bluntly as he takes the path towards treasures street.
you have to cover your own mouth before a sound so unbecoming can leave it.
alhaitham takes pride in how he can make you laugh. he loves watching your eyes twitch and how you purse your lips to contain the boisterous reaction, how you have the self-control to maintain your composure in public despite wanting to cackle loudly like a maniac. knowing he can prompt such a reaction out of you makes him huff proudly when he’s alone with his ear pieces in.
but right now, his ear pieces are turned off. he finds himself carrying the conversation as you and him find seats in the audience, waiting for a scheduled performance hosted by the zubayr theatre. he keeps you close to him as you squeal in excitement when the lights dim for nilou to appear on the stage.
alhaitham finds himself speechless when he yearns for your presence. the most he can do is pull up that smile on his face and pray to lesser lord kusanali that you’ll see the faint twinkle in his eye that is telepathically asking for your attention. the man doesn’t even realise he’s doing the latter, that’s just his unconscious bodily response.
fortunately, the dendro archon is of kind nature, and what archon of kind nature would ignore the prayer of one of her most loyal followers?
cyno
the general mahamatra comprehends his silent need for your presence when he takes a quiet stroll through caravan ribat. he misses you and your curiosity—your hand that grabs his wrist to take him to a stall that has trinkets and things that have caught your eyes or how you’re so quick on your feet to run to the next thing that shines in your field of vision.
cyno stops in his tracks, staring at the path that would show him out of caravan ribat and into the greenery that leads towards the city.
he could leave right now.
you know your lover has a demanding job so you obviously don’t get in his way with distractions. but when your head snaps to your right side at the sight of your lover donned in his usual attire, walking towards you with a rather intriguing look on his face, you have to burst his bubble of personal space.
“cyno, what are you doing here? i thought you had something to do at caravan ribat.” cyno only smiles gently, offering his hand out for you to take, which you do.
“work is finished,” he tells you, bringing you closer. “and i missed your company, my love.” he whispers lowly, gaze pouring into yours.
you raise your brows, gulping, making you break eye contact with him to stare at the interesting potted-plant behind him instead. “cyno it’s only been four days since we last saw each other.”
“that does not change anything.” cyno tilts his head to find your pretty eyes again, a crease appearing in between his brows as he stifles a laugh. “my love, my eyes are here.” and he only pulls you by your waist when you act like you don’t hear him.
he’s so insufferable.
“hm, it’s a lovely day today, how about a round of TCG with me?”
your head snaps in his direction. an expression of disbelief takes over your face completely. “are you serious? you come back after four days and you ask me if i wanna play—”
a smug look grows on cyno’s face as you complain. then it clicks in your head and you click your tongue, folding your arms and looking away. “go and play with your friends then, i can just go to treasure’s street and—”
“oh come now, love, you know that was a joke, right? or do you want me to explain what my true intentions are? because if you would like to know then i’m happy to mmph—” cyno grins into the kiss you give him, effectively shutting him up. perhaps this is what he wanted in the first place.
you pull back, heat rushing to your cheeks at your own actions but really, you miss your lover. so that seemed to be the most appropriate thing to do at that moment.
“dinner. we will have dinner.” cyno relishes in the way you grab his hand, squeezing it as you lead him towards puspa cafe.
