It rained here for the first time in a while. Like a hard down pour. I got so excited that Zeus had answered my prayers that I ran outside and danced in the rain and blasted music and sang. I love Zeus so much! :D Hail to Zeus Ombrios!!

Somebody make a reproduction of this so I can buy it immediately.
Graeco-Roman chalcedony intaglio of Zeus enthroned, with scepter and eagle, dated to 30 BCE to 200 CE. The gold ring itself is modern. Found in the Thorvaldsens Museum.

It’s funny how sometimes it feels like the gods know just what to do. I was in such a bad mood because I missed something important so I went on a walk. It started raining and I was too annoyed to go home so I just stood there. And little by little the rain began to make me feel better. So much so that when it stopped I was sad to see it go.
The gods care for you. They may not always seem there, but they are. I don’t work with Zeus often - mostly to ask for his protection when I get anxious during thunderstorms - and yet he was still there for me. And I’m just so happy and thankful for that

Zeus and Hera
I’ve seen several posts defending Zeus lately and honestly I love it. Entire cultures called Zeus father; he’s a protector of the home, foreigners, and sacred hospitality, among many other things.
For me, at first he felt scary and unapproachable even as the good king of the gods. I eventually incorporated Zeus Erkeios and Ktesios into my household prayers, but not much else.
Little by little, our kharis has grown, and Hera, patient mother that she is, has guided her daughter on the path of devotion to her husband. I am still learning, but now, Zeus feels fatherly and kind.
It’s difficult to explain, but I surprised myself today by praying to “Father Zeus” extemporaneously and just sharing my feelings with him. I’m not close with my own dad, so to be able to do that means a lot.
I guess what I’m saying is that I don’t understand the negative perception of either Hera or Zeus, because in worshipping them, I feel as though I’ve found a family. I love my gods, but I’m always overwhelmed and blown away by how much they love me in return.

Litany to Zeus by GreekPagan
Just a note before I put the prayer: This is not my work. I did not write this prayer, this post is simply a reposting of a beautiful prayer by Greek Pagan. I found it on greekpagan.com, and I simply love this prayer and wanted to repost it. I really love a lot of prayers that they have written, and wanted to share this one. I hope you enjoy as well!
--
Zeus unparalleled, king of the deathless gods, who strides the halls of Olympos, who sits enthroned, greatest among the mighty ones. Zeus of the strong will and the swift strike, whose firm hand guides the path of men: I praise and honor you, I thank you for your blessings.
Lightning-wielding Zeus, master of the sudden storm, at whose whim the winds rise up, the warm spring showers, the earth receives your gift and becomes fruitful. Zeus of the thunderbolt, Zeus the rain-giver: I praise and honor you, I thank you for your blessings.
Far-seeing Zeus, friend of the Fates, whose words were shared with men at Dodona and at Didyma, and at shrines throughout the world. Zeus who hands each one their lot, author of chance, father of fortune: I praise and honor you, I thank you for your blessings.
Kindly Zeus, who hears the voices of the troubled, the entreaties of the poor and the desolate, gracious Zeus who receives the offerings of all who approach, merciful Zeus whose wrath may be appeased: I praise and honor you, I thank you for your blessings.
Benevolent Zeus, protector of the traveler, defender of the stranger, whose righteous wrath falls on those who prey upon the lost and the alone, whose favor falls on the good and generous host: I praise and honor you, I thank you for your blessings.
Honorable Zeus who supports the works of men, who guards the larder of the household, who watches over home and family, town and nation, who upholds the speech of the assembled crowd: I praise and honor you, I thank you for your blessings.
Zeus of the law, Zeus of the righteous, Zeus of the just, of courts and of councils, advisor of kings, who guides the work of the lawmaker, of the judge, of those who bring peace and order to the land, I praise and honor you, I thank you for your blessings.
Zeus, to whom the oath is sacred above all things, who hears each vow we make and holds us to our word, whose anger falls on those who break those bonds, who rewards the upright and the honorable: I praise and honor you, I thank you for your blessings.
Zeus the vengeful, whose fiery bolt comes down upon the evil-doer, friend of the weak, friend of the wronged, scourge of the villain, the scoundrel, the brute and the fiend, Zeus who punishes the guilty as they deserve I praise and honor you, I thank you for your blessings.
Zeus who keeps away all ill, who wards off the harmful, the baneful, the base; Zeus whose goodness and might preserve the city, hold safe the home, bar the gates against any foe, keep sorrow and woe at bay: I praise and honor you, I thank you for your blessings.

"The mythology was only a way of talking about Zeus, a façon de parler. No one believed that the gods actually had a palace at the top of a mountain in Thessaly. Mythology was always a parable, a transposition of the mysterious into another language. If the Greeks often treated their myth with a sense of fun that might shock generations brought up on scripture and holy books, that was at least partly because they did not take it quite so literally or naively. Ancient Greeks were no less sophisticated than ourselves."

Cute Zeus Fact: Zeus was so beloved in ancient times that he was the god most written about and the one with the most hymns, songs and myths. (They feared Hades because they believed he would take souls with him if they bothered him, which is why he's rarely seen in mythology).
As a Hellenic Polytheist actual Zeus is so much kinder than people realize (I pray to him when I'm giving money to a homeless person because Zeus takes care of homeless and immigrant people) and the only reason why he has myths that give him a bad reputation is because historically ancient kings commissioned those myths to legitimize their lineage by making Zeus be a part of it. No different than modern politicians swearing harmful laws are ordained by God himself. It was a form of control.
The more you learn about and work with Zeus, the more amazing he becomes!

it's okay. you can be vulnerable in front of the gods. you can cry your heart out. you can be naked. you can dance like an idiot. you can scream, enraged, or break down in silence. you can be yourself, they will never ask you to hide your humanity or be ashamed of it.
