There's a certain level of bonding that groups formed from survival programs have. It's different from any other type of group and it has bonded these ten together forever. Despite no longer being the youngest member, Haru adjusts quickly. He slips into the role of oldest in the maknae line like he's been doing it his whole life. Despite his quieter nature, he is always joining the maknaes in their little games and teasing the older members, but he is just as likely to help Hanbin rangling them together. Haru was convinced that he would never be able to find a family like the one he made in Japan, but Zerobaseone has proved him wrong time and time again.

₊✩ˎˊ˗ Hanbin + Haru ➔ HaruBin

Haru thinks Hanbin is easily one of the coolest people he's ever met. Haru has always admired dancers more than anything else and so when he'd looked up Hanbin after the older man's introduction on Boys Planet, he was immediately awestruck. Haru becomes awkward with people easily and this was made very obvious with Hanbin when Haru couldn't be in the same vicinity as him without blushing and stuttering through his sentences. Fans were quick to notice Haru's celebrity crush on Hanbin and fell in love with the two of them.

After the introductions on Boys Planet, Hanbin had felt a tug of empathy towards Haru. How a boy could debut so young was insane to him and then learning that his group had been disbanded on such short notice was awful. They had ended up being placed in the same room for dorming setups and it was an easy way for Hanbin to attempt to start a friendship. It was difficult at first due to Haru's nervousness around him, but through the long journey that was Boys Planet 999, the two ended up becoming a lot closer.

Now, in Zerobaseone, the two are like genuine brothers. Haru almost always goes to Hanbin when he has a problem, even if it's just something as small as needing help opening something. Haru mentioned on a live once that Hanbin really reminded him of one of his old group members and that's why he was so easily drawn to the older.

₊✩ˎˊ˗ Jiwoong + Haru ➔ HaWoong

In order to further his understanding of Korean, Haru would oftentimes watch K-Dramas which lead him down a rabbit-hole until he'd stumbled across Roommates of Poongduck 304. He'd nearly passed out when Jiwoong had been announced on Boys Planet and then came the mortifying realization that he'd have to live with him for the foreseeable future. Similarly to Hanbin, Haru was extremely shy around Jiwoong and it was obvious. He'd hardly be able to look him in the eyes, which Jiwoong found incredibly cute and endearing.

Jiwoong was intrigued by Haru almost immediately because of his past. Jiwoong himself had been in the idol industry for a long time, but here was a kid 5 years younger than him that had years more experience than him. Despite his curiosity, it was clear he wouldn't be able to talk with Haru often as the younger would only be able to get a sentence or two out before he nearly broke down. It was fun to tease the younger, which Jiwoong did often until he felt bad about the way Haru looked like he would explode if his cheeks got any more flushed.

After they debuted, Jiwoong felt it would be best to sit down with Haru so the two could get over Haru's nerves. It was honestly a really good and long conversation with the two of them bonding over their shared bad experiences. It was embarassing for Haru to have to explain that he'd watched all of Jiwoong's dramas and had a slight crush on the older man. Jiwoong was nothing but supportive and understanding, explaining that it didn't make him uncomfortable if that's what Haru was worried about. After this talk, Haru was finally able to be around Jiwoong without feeling like he was going to spontaneously combust.

₊✩ˎˊ˗ Hao + Haru ➔ Ha2

Haru looks at Hao like he hung the stars. He respects Hao so much as an artist and as a person. The two didn't really have an awkward stage and clicked almost instantly. It was easy for them to get along and so Haru ended up going to Hao for a lot of his problems which he felt bad about for a while before Hao told him he was glad to be a person that Haru could trust like that.

Hao thought Haru was adorable. The younger was like a baby duckling who would just follow him around. Especially considering Haru's size, it was just the cutest thing to Hao so he was immediately smitten with him. Haru is genuinely like his son despite only being three years younger than him. If anything, it's even worse in Zerobaseone and Hao babies him constantly. When asked about it, Hao said that there wasn't really a specific reason that he was so drawn to Haru, it was just that the younger seemed like he needed an older brother to be there for him.

Now in Zerobaseone, the two are very close. Haru typically reverts to calling Hao Gege rather than Hyung just out of habit. The call of "Hao-ge?" was a familiar one in the background of variety content and lives. The two are often together as Haru's quieter personality is a good way for Hao to recharge his social battery as an introvert.

₊✩ˎˊ˗ Matthew + Yasuharu ➔ YasuMatt

Matthew was the easiest to approach in Haru's opinion. The man is just walking sunshine and it was hard to be nervous when Matthew always tried to hard to make friends. Matthew was also really curious about Haru's past as a J-Pop idol and constantly asked questions about it, but never pressing too hard when he accidentally asks something a little to personal. Matthew always seems to gravitate towards Haru which the younger doesn't mind. Haru has never really been big on physical affection, but he's quick to accept the hugs Matthew so willingly gives and doesn't question it when the older hangs off of him.

Matthew was slightly intimidated by Haru at first, especially after learning that he'd previously been an idol for 6 years, but that was quickly shattered when he'd actually spoken to Haru. The younger was quiet, but always kept a level-head and thought about things as logically as he could without hurting other people's feelings. Matthew was quick to pick up on the fact that Haru was constantly worried about being too pushy or mean with how he handled different stages, so Matthew always tried to make sure that the younger was alright when he could.

The two are often labeled the cutest members of Zerobaseone together which makes Haru's ears go red everytime it's brought up. Because of Matthew, Haru is now more accepting of physical contact and doesn't shy away from it. If anything, he's started subtly searching Matthew out for physical affection which makes Matthew happy.

₊✩ˎˊ˗ Taerae + Yasuharu ➔ YasuRae

When Haru had moved into the trainee dorms at WakeOne Entertainment, he was terrified. His Korean was just barely at conversational and it had been barely 8 months since the disbandment of his former group, so he was understandbly on edge in the beginning. It wasn't until his fourth month at the company when he was paired up with Taerae that he finally managed to make a friend. They both joke that they clicked so fast because they have the same MBTI type so there was a level of understanding they had for each other. Haru is forever grateful that he was paired up with Taerae that day because he's sure that there wasn't going to be another chance for him to make such a good friend.

Taerae remembers seeing Haru at WakeOne for the first time and being shocked at how someone that tall could be so cute at the same time. The two of them were basically attached at the hip after their shared monthly examination, inseperable besties that were constantly found together. He's honestly shocked that someone could be almost the exact same person as him, just shyer than him. Taerae is glad that there's at least one other T in the group besides him because they're so different than the Fs in the group.

When Haru's name was called during the final episode, Taerae had felt his knees go weak. There was such a rush of relief in both of them that Haru had basically blacked out during his speech until he found himself collapsing into Taerae's arms on the podium. The two had just held each other as the rest of the newly formed group surrounded them. The multiple angles of the entire thing went just as viral as Hanbin and Hao's moment and fans are glad that these two debuted together.

₊✩ˎˊ˗ Quanrui + Haru ➔ HaRui

Ricky was probably the third most intimidating member in Haru's opinion. Ricky seemed really cool to Haru when Boys Planet had started and so he wasn't really sure how to approach the younger for a while, but he quickly learned that Ricky was actually really cute under his cool, suave facade. After that, Haru was quick to approach Ricky to make friends with him. Haru still thinks Ricky is much cooler than him, but he also understands that Ricky has a much softer side as well and the two get along really well.

Ricky didn't really have an opinion on Haru at first. Other than the fact that the older was in an idol group before, Ricky didn't know much about Haru. Obviously, that changed when Haru sought him out with a shy request to be friends. As the two got to know each other, they realized that they had a shared love for strawberry flavored things. They get along a lot better than they originally thought they would.

In Zerobaseone, they don't have as many interactions as Haru does with other members, but fans cherish the few they do. Ricky often softens his voice when talking with Haru, not out of malice, but just habit and fans think it's the cutest thing ever. The two have started doing more and more things on camera though which makes zeroses happy to see them interacting more often.

₊✩ˎˊ˗ Gyuvin + Haru ➔ HaruVin

Haru was almost immediately smitten with Gyuvin. He can't really even explain it, there was just something so charming about the younger that had him captivated. He had searched Gyuvin out the quickest, deadset on making friends with him. It was easier than expected as Gyuvin seemed just as eager to be friends with him. Despite the fact that Gyuvin is rather sporty and Haru has never done a sport outside of dance, the two get along extremely well.

Gyuvin was fully convinced that Haru was younger than him before his age was announced, completely shocking him. It was something that he still mentions all the time, teasing Haru constantly about it. During Boys Planet, Gyuvin was blown away by Haru's stage presence. He was glad that the older seemed to want to be friends just as bad because it was hard for Gyuvin to approach Haru himself at first.

Now, the two are almost always together and they've made a little trio with Ricky. This is actually how Ricky and Haru started becoming closer on screen. Gyuvin and Haru are also incredibly tactile, Haru more so than Gyuvin. Despit their similar heights, fans have noticed that Haru seems to make himself smaller when he's around Gyuvin. When asked about it, he just said that Gyuvin makes him feel safe.

   ₊✩ˎˊ˗ Gunwook + Haru ➔ HaruWook

Haru, like most other contestants on Boys Planet, was convinced that Gunwook had the bad boy aesthetic down and was pleasantly surprised to find out that the younger was just a big softie. They're basically the same height and so fans find it fun to see the two next to each other just because of their drastic differences in appearance. Haru finds Gunwook unbelievably cute and constantly makes it known. He doens't smother Gunwook, but he comes pretty close to it.

Gunwook was almost equally as intimidated by Haru. The whole thing was rather silly as they both skirted around each other for a while until they realized there was literally no reason for it. They got over it pretty quickly and Gunwook adores Haru now. He likes how the older seems so small despite being a centimeter taller than him, he just overall finds Haru just as cute as Haru finds him.

Gunwook likes to flirt with Haru a lot, liking how easy it is to make the older flustered but being careful to walk the line and not push too hard. On very rare occassions, Haru will flirt back and each time it catches Gunwook off guard, causing the younger to go bright red. Haru saves it for when Gunwook is least expecting it because the less he does it, the more flustered Gunwook gets. Haru really enjoys teasing Gunwook though and finds other silly was to joke around with him.

 ₊✩ˎˊ˗ Yujin + Haru ➔ HaruJin

Haru thinks of Yujin like an actual younger brother and the way he treats him is the same. Since Haru was the youngest member of his last group, there is a level of understanding between the two of them, but sometimes Haru likes to use his position as an older member to tease Yujin when he can. However, Haru also understands that Yujin wants to be treated like an adult sometimes and is quick to pick up on it when their teasing goes too far.

Yujin is honestly surprised at how Haru is so mature yet so childish at the same time. Not a bad sort of childish, just in the sense that you can tell Haru has been in the public eye for a long time and never really had a proper childhood. There are times when Yujin catches him playing with little toys on their sets or things like that and just joins in with him as to make him feel less alone. While Yujin could never understand what it was like to debut so young, he's still a kid himself so he tries his best to be there for his hyung when he can.

Yujin has become a safe space for Haru and they probably have the most interactions on camera. Yujin really helps Haru allow himself to let go of the fact that he's on camera all the time and just enjoy the things around him. They're constantly stealing candies together and things like that. The two of them really are like brothers and Haru has mentioned the fact that if he ever had a brother, he'd want him to be exactly like Yujin.

synopsis: ZBTVing fulfilling yujin's wish to go to an amusement park with the members !

(the only thing i will be making the y/n is an 03 liner, younger than taerae, older than ricky)

"we'll yujin wanted it so badly, now we're at lotte world!"

y/n clapped with the other members, bouncing on the balls of her feet out of excitement. as much as this was yujin's wish, she was just as excited to be able to go to lotte world with the members for the firs time.

"yujin say how you feel as the representative."

"thank you so much!" y/n laughed, watching the youngest bow to the staff.

"yujin, how much fun will you have?!" y/n flinching from gunwook's sudden yell, glancing at him before laughing again.

"i'm going to have so much fun!!"

y/n reached forward, grinning wide before patting yujin's head lightly. "let's do whatever you want today!"

yujin nods, smiling brightly.

after a quick give me my money debacle the group enters the amusement park. y/n's eyes dart everywhere, eyes gleaming in excitement since she's never been to lotte world.

hanbin counts the members, turning to see y/n trailing behind everyone slightly. he smiles, calling out for her and motioning her to catch up.

"have you never been to lotte world before?" he asks once she jogs to join him.

"nope! i'm glad my first time here is with you all." hanbin smiles, always happy to see one of his members excitement.

the members continue to walk around before deciding to finally go on French Revolution. y/n turned to hao, lightly tapping him to get his attention.

"are you ok to go on the ride? you can wait a bit longer." hao thinks for a moment before shaking his head.

"i'm good, you might want to run if you want a front row seat because i think the others will take them." he responds, smiling cheekily at her.

y/n gasps dramatically, running ahead of the members causing hao to laugh. the video cuts to y/n pouting in the 2nd row, the video editors adding a baby cry.

gunwook laughs, poking her arm. "you can sit in the front when we go on the log ride."

y/n smiles for a second before realizing what that meant. "i'll get soaked!"

"but you'll be in the front!"

"that was so fun!" y/n yells, the camera catching her skipping excitedly out of the ride exit. "everyone, i recommend coming here and going on the French Revolution first. unless you've eaten food or get motion sick easily..."

the video cuts to the member's running to the bumper cars, y/n watching the members as she walks with hao. arms linked, she walks him to an area where he can rest.

"do you want me to get anything for you?" hao shakes his head, mumbling that he just wants to rest his head for a moment.

y/n takes off her school coat, folding it and placing it on the table. "lay your head here." hao nods, laying his head down before shooing her away.

"ill go take photos and videos of the members! if you need anything tell them to come get me ok?" all hao does is show an ok sign before y/n walks off.

as the boys begin to drive around, y/n is seen taking videos and laughing as they bump into eachother. it really gave her joy when she watched her members have fun.

she couldn't help but burst into laughter when she watched hanbin bump into jiwoong. "jiwoong are you ok?!"

all he did in response was give her a weak thumbs up before she burst into laughter again.

"why don't we wear the headbands?" matthew points out.

"the what?" y/n asks, gyuvin giving her a look.

"headbands! c'mon let's go look!" gyuvin drags her to catch up with matthew.

y/n ends up with a lion ear headband, holding a handheld camera above her head looking at it through her lashes.

"zerose, is this a good angle?"

any angle is a good angle for zerose~ the editors add in.

"isn't that the snack shop?"

"where?!" y/n begins sprinting past the members once she catches a glipse of the food.

her running, being caught as a blur to the camera, matthew and gyuvin quickly following behind her.

she held her handheld camera up to the display case, excitedly pointing out everything she wants to try.

"doesn't it all look good?? i can't decided what i want to start with."

y/n decides to have some of the chicken bites, "one for zerose and one for me."

she finishes the chicken, immediately asking for the dip and dots ice cream she saw gyuvin get.

out of excitement, she began to eat it quickly, stopping just as quickly as he head began to hurt.

"bad idea, bad idea, bad idea!" yujin points and laughs, gesturing the cameramen to record her demise.

"it doesn't look too bad." y/n mumbles, following the members onto the Pirate Ship.

"you need to have your family who cheers for you. mom and dad need to watch you." jiwoong responds, taking a bite of sotteok-sotteok.

"mom! dad! take videos please!" y/n yells.

y/n sits beside ricky, leaving yujin to the outer seat.

"are you ok sitting there?"

"i'll be ok, you're stuck with ricky whose probably going to latch onto you." he responds, already knowing how funny that's going to be.

once the ride starts, y/n already has her hands in the air. the ship swinging higher and higher as the ride goes on.

"this isn't that bad!" she yells.

"i ate a lot of sausages..." she whips her head towards ricky who laughs at her wide eyes.

"please don't throw up on me!"

screaming with the others she puts both hands up, feeling ricky grip the seat behind her. she reaches back with one hand, holding his hand.

"you might get hurt!" the grip on her hand gets tighter as ricky nervously smiles.

she turns towards taerae, smiling widely as he continously does jazz hands every now and then. turning to yujin she can see how happy he is, her heart feeling warm as she's happy the youngest gets to enjoy himself.

hearing ricky and hanbin beg for the ride to end just made her laugh even more, unknowingly snorting from how funny it was to her.

"one more time!" she cheers with taerae and yujin, hoping to try the back row to see if the experience is different.

sitting with taerae and gunwook, she sits on the edge next to taerae.

"is it really that different sitting here?" she asks.

"i don't think so?" taerae responds.

cue the video cutting to y/n gripping onto the bars. "this is totally different!!"

while the two beside her confess their love to the members, y/n begins yelling to her two "parents".

"hao!! jiwoong!! i can't do this, i can't!" the members on the ground laugh, jiwoong doing his best to record the moment.

once the ride stops, taerae and gunwook turn to y/n whose "passed out" on the side.

"wake up! y/n!!" she smiles, laughing as taerae shakes her lightly.

"please tell me we're done..."

feeling a bit dizzy after the last Pirate Ship round, y/n decides to rest a bit and watch the members go on the log ride.

she holds her handheld camera, motioning to the ride behind her.

"everyone, i was defeated by the Pirate Ship ride..." hanging her head in defeat. "i've learned my lesson, but it was still fun!"

"hao dropped water on my head!" gunwook walked up to her, shaking his head causing water to hit y/n too.

"what?"

gunwook points to the little bridge, "there! can you see?! im soaked on my head."

y/n points and laughs as she finally notices how wet gunwook got.

"that's karma for saying i should go in front!"

joining the other members, they all decided to go on one last ride, the carousel!

sitting on one of the horses, she sighs happily. thinking about her first time at lotte world, she was able to make the most of it with the members.

Being the one female member of a group with nine male members isn’t always easy, though it helps that most of the guys are very chill and like my brothers. It also helps that one of them happens to be my boyfriend. It felt weird to live with the nine of them in the beginning but now, about one and half years later, it’s become normal and comfortable. We have all created our own routines with one another. 

Mornings were always a fun experience, Matthew loves to sleep in for as long as possible, he also has a talent for falling asleep in a second, so making sure he stays awake in the mornings can be a handful. However, now that Matthew and I are in a relationship, I have found some ways to get him to wake up quickly. 

As my alarm goes off, I wake up and turn it off, I feel Matthew’s strong arms around my waist and hear his soft snores from behind me, I try to turn around and face him, but this particular morning, his grip was extra strong so the only thing I could do was manage to pry his hands off from around me and slip out of the bed. A frown formed on his face at the loss of contact but he quickly shook it off and he returned to his peaceful slumber. I walked over to the bathroom, happy to find it empty, so I slipped inside and finished my morning routine, once done in the bathroom I opened the door to find Jiwoong waiting. “Good morning, Woongie,” “Morning, (Y/n), is Matthew up yet?” “I doubt it,” We joked, and then I walked back to Matthew’s and I’s room. 

Once inside our room, I found Matthew still sleeping on the bed, I walked over to him, and gently shook him a little, saying his name, “Matthew, baby, time to wake up,” He mumbled something incoherently, but soon enough he opened his eyes, smiling widely at the sight of me, I assumed at least, he opened his arms, wanting me to crawl back into the bed with him. But I stepped back so that he couldn’t reach me. “Come on, Matt, we have to leave soon, even Yujin is up and ready, so come on, hurry up, you can sleep more in the car, but only if you get up,” “Mm, just five more minutes, please???” He gave me his best puppy eyes, but I knew not to fall for it, five minutes usually end up being more like an hour, or until Hanbin comes in and drags us both up from the bed angrily. 

“Either you get up now, or no kisses or hugs for the entire day, not even from Gunwook,” We both laughed at the joke because Zeroses are convinced Matthew and Gunwook have something going on, no one has even mentioned the possibility of Matthew and I, which is, in a way, positive, but outrageous at the same time. Matthew shot up out of bed and ran to the bathroom with some clothes in his hands at the ‘threat’ of no kisses. It works every time. I finished packing my bag with things for today's shot and walked out to the kitchen to see if someone was making breakfast, I found Hao and Hanbin in the kitchen. 

“Binnie, are we eating breakfast here or in the car?” “I think either in the car or we’ll get something on the way, it’s quite a long trip today, but they said not to eat beforehand,” Hanbin said as he took out two glasses and filled them with water, he gave one of the glasses to Hao and the other to me before he took out another glass and filled it with water for himself. “Alright, and thanks,” “Have you managed to get Matthew up?” Hao asked. “Yeah, he’s in the shower right now, other than him, are we waiting for anyone?” “Not really, Taerae is packing up his things and waiting to brush his teeth but both bathrooms are occupied, the rest are supposedly done,” Hanbin said but he didn’t sound too convinced, Gyuvin has a reputation for being late, and so does Yujin. Gunwook is usually one of the first to be ready, only late when he ends up having to help someone else with something. 

“I’ll go and pack Matt’s things up so that we can leave soon,” “Sounds good, (Y/n), we’re lucky to have you, Hao, and I’ll go check on the other as well, our manager just texted that they’ll be here in 10 minutes so we need to hurry up,” I just made a joking salute before I went back to my room and packed my boyfriend’s things. As I was packing an extra hoodie into his bag, I suddenly felt two strong arms around my waist, the familiar arms didn’t surprise me, this was part of the morning routine, “Good morning to you too, Mattie,” “Good morning, darling, can I have a kiss now? I got up and I’m ready to leave,” I turned around in his hold to find his signature charm smile, and who am I to resist it? “Of course you can,” 

He leaned in, and soon enough, our soft lips met, in a sweet passionate kiss, that was interrupted by Ricky who stuck his head in our room, “Ew, wrap it up lovebirds, Hanbin is calling for everyone,” Matthew broke the kiss of only to glare at the younger boy, “Yeah yeah, we’re coming,” He mumbled before giving me one final quick peck on the lips, grabbing both his and my bag as well as one of my hands. And then we left our room, walking out to the hall, where we found the rest of our 8 group members. Oh, how I love our morning routines.

Excellent! The story in question features the nine members of ZeroBaseOne (well, 10 actually; including you, dear Player!) and their journey both in the real world and the Metaverse to defeat a company that has taken advantage of them for years. But before we get too far into the plot, let me introduce myself. I'm Kara, aka jebewonmorelike and I'll be your Game Master. I'll check in with you at the beginning of every chapter to give you reminders, content warnings, and any miscellaneous info you might need.

I know! I can't take all the credit, though. This fanfiction game is heavily-inspired by the JRPG game Persona 5. What is Persona 5 about? The great part is that, honestly, it doesn't really matter whether you've had experience with the game or not in order to play the game I've designed for you today...

Don't sweat it! I'm gonna explain everything you need to know right now and it's nothing you should find too complicated. How does that sound, Player?

Wonderful! I had a good feeling about you right from the very beginning, Player.

Our story is, of course, about a group called ZeroBaseOne... Or, well... To be more precise, it's a story about a group that used to be called ZeroBaseOne. A little over a year ago, some sh*t went down and turned their whole world upside down forever.

While all ages and genders are welcome to play this game (our OC is pronoun-free!), there might be some mature themes in this game. Nothing too crazy-- swearing, mild violence, angst, drinking, crime, some suggestive themes, and, above all, bringing justice to a company that mistreats its talent...

Are you okay with a PG-13+ rated game, Player?

Great! And, don't worry: there will be plenty of comedy, too. Comedy, to me, is essential to any plot. I think you're gonna really like this game! I hope. *Sigh*

Like I was saying, ZeroBaseOne doesn't really look much like the one we know in real life. Instead, the members are a bit older, a bit more worn out and, honestly, having a pretty rough go of it at this point. And whose to blame for that?

You're so smart, Player! Of course it's their company. I'd like to just state quickly that this game is just that-- a game. Fictional; a story! No agencies or people in this game are representative of real life things. Especially not their fictional company. *Bombastic side-eye*.

So why did I decide to make this game? Well, we all love reading fanfiction. But wouldn't it be even more fun if the reader had a say in the story? If the reader's choices led to the creation of their own specially-crafted fanfiction just for them?

Maybe, by now, you're wondering just what exactly are you playing this game to win? Well it's what almost everybody wants a shot at in life... Love. Throughout this game, you will make decisions that will give you points towards different group members. Keep track of your score and, at the end of the game, the member who you've earned the most points for will determine your ending (and your love interest).

All game resources will be listed in the description of each chapter, at the top and bottom of this introductory post, and on the Steal Your Heart masterlist. There will be many opportunities to interact with this game and it will include a lot of hand-edited graphics to look at it! I hope you enjoy them, as I've planned them quite tediously.

Haru watches as all nine of his group mates read out their letters, feeling their emotions wash over him as he does. All of them had written such heartfelt letters for the group, explaining just how much this means to them. After hearing nine different letters, it's scary to realize that his is going to be read last and that he has to read it himself.

Before he even starts, he can feel his eyes well up with tears that he desperatly tries to blink away as the members start to coo at him.

"Aigoo~ don't cry Yasu!" Matthew calls from across the lawn

He clears his throat and manages to start reading.

To my Zerobaseone,

It's been a year already... A full year of being by your sides. It scares me how fast our time is going and how soon I'll be far away again. When I first came to Korea, I was scared of finding a new home because of the fear that I'll have to say goodbye again. How funny that my fear is coming true but instead of the all consuming dread I thought I'd feel, it all feels warm. In moments like this, where I'm surrounded by all of you, I'm not scared or worried about the future. I've always been told I worry too much, especially about things that are out of my control, but thanks to all of you I think I'm finally learning how to let go of that and just enjoy what's around me.

I love all of you, please don't forget that even when I fall back into my shell and hide away from you. I know I can be difficult sometimes, but I promise I don't do it on purpose.

Thank you for being patient with me and waiting for me. I hope that the ten of us can continue long after our time on camera has ended. You all have become such a big part of my life and I hope one day I can show you around my home city and the neighboring areas. Let's all wait for that day together.

He does his best to power through the sobs that get stuck in his throat, ignoring the tears that drip down his face as he finishes reading. Pulling the paper in front of his face, he tries to hide away from the cameras as he cries.

It isn't until he feels multiple pairs of arms wrap around him that his sobs become audible. Someone pulls him into their chest and cards their fingers through his hair, Hanbin's voice filtering through his ears to comfort him.

It takes a moment, but he finally manages to calm himself down with the comfort of his members. He feels his face flush as he pulls away from Hanbin, gently wiping his eyes as to not ruin his makeup anymore than he already has.

"Our sweet Yasu~" Taerae coos, softly pinching Haru's cheek.

Yeah, Haru thinks he could see forever in them.

Kuroda Naoko was born on February 28, 2000, in Nōgata, Fukuoka, Japan. She is the only child of mother Kuroda Minami and father Kuroda Yuka.

Her parents both own and work on a farm. Although Naoko lived with them, she was raised by her grandparents who took care of her while her parents were busy with work. Naoko doesn’t talk much about her childhood, so little is known about her from that time.

In 2006, Naoko started elementary education. She graduated elementary school in 2012 and began secondary education the same year.

At 14, Naoko got interested in dance after discovering K-pop. She wasn't able to attend dance classes, so she taught herself how to dance at home.

❝I started dancing when I was about 14. I saw K-pop groups dance and I got interested, but my parents didn’t have money for dance classes, so I danced at home.❞

In 2015, Naoko graduated from junior high school and started senior high school. She was an average student. Naoko graduated from senior high school in 2018.

Months after graduation, Naoko was street cast by a JYP employee and was asked to come to Korea and train. She was hesitant at first, but ultimately decided to try. In September 2018, Naoko moved to South Korea and became a trainee at JYP Entertainment.

Naoko quickly became one of the best trainees at JYP. She was already good at dancing and seemed to find no struggle with singing. She was often praised for her skills and visuals. After she had finished the basic training, Naoko trained with ITZY members, but she was dropped from the lineup 2 months before ITZY’s debut.

In June 2020, Naoko’s grandparents died. She then left JYP and considered going back to Japan. However, 2 months later she was scouted by a CUBE Entertainment employee and became a trainee again, this time at CUBE.

❝My grandparents died during covid. I think I didn’t know what to do at the time. I didn’t want my parents to be alone, but I didn’t want to go back home yet. I left JYP without thinking it through.❞

While training at CUBE, she worked part-time jobs. The longer she trained, the more hope she was losing of ever debuting, but she tried to stay determined until the end.

On April 20, 2023, Naoko placed 10th during BOYS PLANET's finale, making her a member of ZEROBASEONE. She debuted as a ZEROBASEONE member on July 10 with the group’s first mini album "YOUTH IN THE SHADE".

Despite thousands of doubts and uncertainty, Naoko’s debut in ZEROBASEONE was like a turning point in her life. It’s obvious—she smiles wider, sleeps better, and her heart beats a little faster. And although the future is still unknown, Naoko makes the most out of every moment she has with her fans and members.
