German customs and superstitions in the Holy Week and at Easter
Apart from having days off work, eating chocolate bunnies and hunting easter eggs with the family, there are some lesser known traditions in Germany around the Holy Week, mixing Christian and pagan traditions. The first mention was in a letter from 751 by missionary Saint Boniface to Pope Zachary, asking him how to deal with this pagan tradition. Meanwhile, it has been incorporated into the liturgy of the Catholic church, when at the beginning of the Easter Night, a small fire is lit from which the presbyter lights a candle, which is brought into the church in a procession of the congregation.
First and foremost, there is the tradition of the Easter Fire. Depending on the region, there are different manifestations of this tradition. In the north, villagers or neighborhoods set up a huge bonfire from tree and shrub cuttings at a place that is visible from far away. It is lit and burned down on the evening of Holy Saturday or Easter Sunday, depending on the region.
In some places, the figure of a witch is set up on top of the bonfire. The youth keeps a watch during the nights before to make sure that no one from the surrounding villages sets it prematurely on fire. The villagers or neighbours gather with drinks to watch the fire. In some places, a betting game is held on the time when the central tree trunk will collapse, the earnings being donated to the local voluntary fire department.
In Bavaria, the fires are small and used to light candles and incense. In some places, arm-thick birch branches are set on fire and burned half-way before they are taken out of the fire, extinguished by dipping them in water, and stored in the attic in order to prevent fire in the house.
Good Friday is a silent holiday, which means that loud music, dancing and comedic events are forbidden. This leads to yearly protest by the party folks. Some religious people try not to speak the entire day. In some regions, children are sent out on the early morning of Easter Sunday to fetch Easter Water from nearby rivers or creeks, which they must bring home without talking a word. Otherwise the water turns into useless "Babble Water".
Some people don't wash any clothes during the Holy Week. There is a superstition that anyone who wears a piece of clothing washed during the Holy Week will inevitably fall ill and die. The same will happen when they will cook peas, sew clothes, chop wood, or slaughter an animal.
Another taboo is digging in the garden and breaking up the soil during the Holy Week. It is said that this will disturb the rest in death not only in the surrounding graveyards, but in particular that of Jesus Christ.

hello, I'm Hand (he/him)! This is my first post.
I'm an artist and mainly draw my ocs, as well as occasional fanart (depending on my current interests) :P
I'm currently 19 years old.
Feel free to ask me anything on here (I'll be especially happy, if it's about my ocs), I don't bite and love interacting with others! I might also take doodle request, if I have the time and am open for arttrades! (Mostly mutuals though).
English isn't my first language, so I apologize, should there be any errors.
I'm german/polish for anyone wondering! ^^
Here's my linktree (it should have the links to most of my social media as well as for my Toyhouse and Artfight)
I'm very obsessed with my characters, and like lore dumping about them, whenever someone is interested in knowing more. (I also make playlists, moodboards, figures and other stuff of them)
I do not consent to having my art reposted (especially without credit)
Below is some of my art, of my main oc, Gabriel! :D
As well as of his roommate and best friend, Christoph:
And some silly doodles of them:
And there's some art of other ocs too:
The first one is Edward, the second one is my dnd and bg3 character, Zachary.
Okay, that's it for now :P

Spring Awakening catapulted stars Lea Michele, Jonathan Groff and Skylar Astin to fame when it hit Broadway in 2006 — and created an original musical that inspired a generation.
“I just learned that Dan [Radcliffe‘s Merrily We Roll Along] understudy, Coby [Getzug], came to see Spring Awakening when we were on Broadway when he was 16. Now we’re on Broadway together,” Groff, who made his Broadway debut in the show at age 21, exclusively told Us Weekly in June 2024. “I was just talking to him about the documentary. It’s incredible. Yeah, theater really saved me. Looking back, I didn’t realize it was saving me … I was so compartmentalized and so closeted that I didn’t realize at the time what a lifeline getting to sing and dance and emote and cry and be joyful at all of that was when I was that age.”
Spring Awakening was inspired by Frank Wedekind’s 1891 play of the same name. Nearly a century later, Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater came together to pen the music, book and lyrics. The show follows a group of 19th century German teenagers as they discover their sexuality. Michele and Groff, who became BFFs during the Broadway run, played leads Wendla Bergmann and Melchior Gabor, respectively.
Spring Awakening was eventually revived on Broadway in 2015 by Deaf West Theatre Company, integrating American Sign Language (ASL) into the choreography.
Nearly 15 years after Spring Awakening first debuted on the Great White Way, the original cast reunited for a special concert, which raised money for the Actor’s Fund. The one-night-only performance was filmed for HBO, and Spring Awakening: Those You’ve Known premiered in May 2022. The cast performed at the Tonys one month later.
Scroll below to see what the original Spring Awakening cast members have been up to since their Broadway tenure:
Jonathan Groff
The Mindhunter alum played lead Melchior in the original production before going on to land roles on One Life to Live, Boss, Frozen, The Normal Heart, Glee, Looking and The Matrix Resurrections. He returned to Broadway in 2015 in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton: An American Musical, playing King George. The Pennsylvania native had brief roles in 2022’s And Just Like That and Life & Beth. He won his first Tony Award for Best Lead Actor in a Musical in June 2024 for Merrily We Roll Along.
Groff, who publicly came out in 2009, was previously linked to actors Gavin Creel and Zachary Quinto.

“An Enemy of the People” + Meeting Matt Smith a THIRD time(?!?!)
I saw Matt Smith last night in his play, “An Enemy of the People” in London and I’m still super overwhelmed by it all, especially as I was up at 6:45am for work before I went to the show AND I ended up not getting home until 5am, but to sum up my experience last night with Matt:
I was sat in row A, which is the third row from the stage behind AA and BB, so I was SUPER close to the stage
THEY HAD A REAL DOG (German Shepherd/Alsatian I think?) ON STAGE IN SOME SCENES OMG OMG OMG I LOVED THIS SCENE STEALER
Matt was absolutely incredible, he had a full on like 5 minute monologue where he was shouting into a microphone about capitalism and the rot of government etc, and there was utter silence the entire time
It then turned into an audience trauma dump of sorts because they had some microphones given to audience members to air their grievances with the government/system/society, it was incredibly powerful
The rest of the cast were amazing too of course
I was in the “splash” zone because there was a moment where the cast were along the sides next to the audience while Matt was on stage and then they threw paint-filled balloons at him, and when they hit him they exploded so we had to have tarp pulled up over us just before it happened because the paint would have hit us
Matt has a DILF belly and I am 100% for it, at one point he lifted the bottom of his shirt to wipe the paint from his eyes and I nearly died
After the show, I went to stage door to try and meet him - but because it was a Saturday night in London it was a nightmare and so he could only do quick signatures and no pictures with people
I DID get my program signed by Matt ☺🫶🏻
Also one of the other cast members (Zachary Hart) was talking a lot to my friend just before Matt came outside and he turned, saw me, looked me over and then went “I like your shirt! 🙂” (I was wearing a TNBC check shirt)
After the show, I was with some friends I knew from Twitter who were also huge Matt fans, and we went to a pub that was down the road from the theatre after they had changed clothes… and Matt and the cast were there?!?
Matt brushed up against me twice when he was going to/coming back from the bar and I nearly passed out like one of my friends had to take me outside because I was hyperventilating
(This is also an autistic thing though that’s unrelated to Matt because it was super packed and loud and hot in the pub)
After the pub closed, my friend said the bar in her hotel would be open until 2 so we went there, left our stuff in her room, and then we went down to the bar… and Matt and the cast were there too?!?
I’m genuinely not joking, we were NOT stalking him, we had talked about going to pub days ago and - as I said - one of my friends was literally staying at that hotel and the bar there was the closest one still open. To be honest, I was feeling anxious at this point because I was terrified Matt would see us and recognise us but also I was freaking out because I wanted to talk to him so bad as I didn’t get the chance at the stage door during the chaos
It’s a bar where they have music playing, like at a club, but there’s no dancing and they sit you at tables and take your drinks orders, and we were two tables away from the cast
Zachary walked past and said hello to one of my friends again, because he recognised them from earlier, and he grinned/shouted hello back when we waved and said hello
Matt walked past us and the friend mentioned above and I shouted hello at him and waved, but I didn’t want to bother him by going up to him because 1) it was nearly 2am, 2) I didn’t want him to be weirded out or think we were stalking him, and 3) I ’m 99% sure he was drunk because he’d been hanging about in the pub and then the bar for a total of four hours 💀 anyway, Matt smiled and shouted hello back
My friends went outside the hotel to smoke after the bar closed (I was the only one out of a group of 5 who didn’t smoke 😭) and the cast came out to leave, and one of my friends asked him for a picture but his co-worker Jessica Brown-Findlay apparently got mad at her and said “no, we are not doing that”. Matt was super nice to her though and said she looked great, and “know we love you!” before he left
(Side note: one of the other friends thinks Jessica was pissed off because when we were outside the pub earlier, her husband asked my friends for a cigarette and were chatting to him while they smoked (I was there under an umbrella absolutely freezing my tits off lol) and they said it might be a possessive thing? To be genuinely honest, none of us had any clue it was her husband even when he said “oh yeah my wife Jessie is in a play down the road”, like it genuinely didn’t click for any of us that he was talking about Jessica, and he approached us for a cigarette, not the other way around)
Unrelated to Matt but still relevant to understanding the night/my feelings:
I was very exhausted because I started my new job yesterday morning, was up at 6:45am because my dad insisted on dropping me off at 8am despite me not starting until 9, I was on my feet the whole day, I didn’t have time to run home and change so I had to do my make up on the train (luckily my uniform was given to me in the morning so I was able to wear my evening clothes, change into work clothes and then change back at the end of the day), my feet were super sore and blistered because I was wearing brand new trainers from work that didn’t fit properly… yeah. Anyway.
(Side note: I LOVE my new job so much, I am not complaining about it at all, it was amazing, it’s just unfortunate scheduling that I started on the same day I had the ticket for the play)
I missed my last tube and my last train home (last train was at 1am) and ended up having to borrow money to get a taxi to Piccadilly station from the hotel, at which point it was 3am and I was feeling very exhausted AND also emotional
There were issues with the tube because of the weather and so I had to wait an extra 30 minutes while also needing to pee and suffering from exhaustion, didn’t get on a tube until about 3:30? 3:40?
I think I was crying at one point after leaving the hotel because when I got to the tube station to wait for a train, a woman also waiting came to check on me and asked why I had been crying
I kept on dozing off on the tube between stops, and I’m very lucky I didn’t get robbed to be honest (probably because I had my bag on my lap and an arm resting over it)
I ended up in South Ealing at 4:15am, and I knew if I got a bus I wouldn’t be getting to the nearest town to me until 5am (and I still wouldn’t have been home) so I decided “fuck it, I’m spending £27 on an Uber I guess”
I fell asleep in the Uber and the driver was pretty annoyed about it, I ended up getting home at 5am - somehow I was able to remove the rest of my make up, message my friends to tell them I was home safe, get in my PJs and climb into bed
Here’s some photos of the stage before the play started, Matt at the end of the play (covered in paint), and Matt at stage door
(I did NOT take photos or videos of him in the pub or bar, because I want to respect his privacy 🙂🫶🏻 I am also NOT going to share the name of the pub or hotel/bar, not because I want to gatekeep or anything, but because of privacy and out of respect)
#very overwhelmed and in an emotionally vulnerable state right now#matt smith#an enemy of the people#jessica brown findlay#london

Some notes about Barbara’s abilities
Small backstory of Barbara:
Barbara Strawberry is a teenager from Ashland in Pennsylvania. She became what is now known as Specimen 5 after being kidnapped by a mysterious cult and sacrificed to entity known as The Mother. The Mother, realizing that her Followers gave her a child ‚tainted’ by the Leader, pitied her. Barbara’s body encased in clay was reanimated by Mother and slaughtered the insencere cult members. Barbara’s soul remained dorment in in her own body for decades, until one day a mysterious person appeared in House on The Hill. Just after few hours from chasing the mysterious explorer, Barbara was resurrected as herself from before the ritual. Barbara remembers nothing from the day of the ritual sacrifice (which is for the better).
With almost everyone she knew from school being adults and indeterminate state of her real family, Barbara decided to stay in the house among other monstrous residents who still recognize her as one of them and Zachary Gāng, the host of Specimen 12 who is in similar situation as the girl, taking on the responsibility of being her guardian figure.
⭐️Barbara Fun Facts⭐️
Originally, Barbara was a rip off of Oka Ruto from Yandere Simulator (I created her around 2016-17, long before the shit plumeted)
Originally, Barbara had skills of summoning demons from Goetia and that was ther reason the cult kidnapped her. Obviously, that got scrapped later on in my life
She loves collecting 80’s tech, victorian era china and overall etheric/astrology decor
She’s 1/4 American, 1/4 German and 1/2 Korean
She has a younger brother
Her favorite dish is Ramen with wontons and kimchi (her mother’s invention)

A Journey into the World of Microscopy: From Humble Beginnings to High-Tech Magnification
The science of looking into the hidden invisible Microscopy has transformed our understanding of the world around us. It can explore the universe beyond the reach of our naked eyes, with complex cellular structures, red blood cells, viruses and other viruses and microorganisms taking on amazing perspectives
The history of the microscope is a fascinating story of human curiosity, scientific genius, and relentless exploration. From the humble beginnings of simple magnifying glasses to the sophistication of modern electronic microscopes, the invention of microscopes has shaped our understanding of the microscopic world
In the 1600s, Dutch opticians such as Hans and Zachary Janssen are credited with inventing the first microscope. Known for this hybrid microscope, many lenses were used to magnify objects up to 30 times. At the end of the 17th century, Antony van Leeuwenhoek, Dutch draper some changed our perception of thumbnails. Armed with a well-made single-lens microscope, and explored the hidden reaches of nature. In 1674, Leeuwenhoek discovered microorganisms in lake water, which he aptly named “animalcules”. His discovery laid the foundations of biology and inspired generations of scientists. This incredible feat allowed him to uncover a hidden universe – the first sightings of bacteria, red blood cells, and other microorganisms.
Formation of the scientific environment (17th-19th centuries): Leeuwenhoek’s discoveries boosted scientific research. Robert Hooke, an English scientist, established these developments. In 1665, his book "Micrographia" recorded his observations with a compound microscope. Notably, the term "cell" was coined by Hooke when he examined cork tissue, laying the foundation for cell biology.Microscope systems flourished throughout the 18th and 19th centuries Joseph Lister and other scientists addressed the limitations of the early lenses, introducing improvements that reduced image distortion.
Beyond the Limits of Light: The Beginning of the New Age (19th-20th century): As the 19th century progressed, the limitations of optical microscopy became apparent and scientists yearned for a tool which can go deeper into cells. This research culminated in the development of the electron microscope in the 1930s. The 20th century was revolutionary with the invention of the electron microscope. Unlike light microscopes, which use visible light, electron microscopes use electron beams to achieve much higher magnification.Formation of the scientific environment (17th-19th centuries): Leeuwenhoek’s discoveries boosted scientific research. Unlike light microscopes, which use visible light, electron microscopes use electron beams to achieve much higher magnification.
In the 1930s, German experts Max Knoll and Ernst Ruska made the first electron microscope. This tool let us see tiny things like cells and even atoms by using electron beams, not light, getting images many times bigger. This cool invention showed us the tiny parts inside cells, viruses, and stuff too small to see before. The 1900s brought even more cool microscopes. New kinds like phase-contrast and confocal microscopy let scientists look at live cells without using stuff that could hurt them. Now, the world of looking at tiny things is getting even better. Today, we have high-tech microscopes that use computers and lasers. These let us see and even change tiny things in ways we never could before.
Modern Microscopy's Diverse Arsenal - Today, the field of microscopy boasts a diverse range of specialized instruments, each tailored to address specific scientific needs. Here's a glimpse into some remarkable examples:
Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM): Imagine a high-tech camera that captures images using a beam of electrons instead of light. That's the essence of a SEM. By scanning the surface of a sample with a focused electron beam, SEMs generate detailed information about its topography and composition. This makes them ideal for studying the intricate structures of materials like insect wings, microchips, and even pollen grains.
Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM): While SEMs provide exceptional surface detail, TEMs take us a step further. They function by transmitting a beam of electrons through a very thin sample, allowing us to observe its internal structure. TEMs are the go-to instruments for visualizing the intricate world of viruses, organelles within cells, and macromolecules like proteins.
Confocal Microscopy: Ever wished to focus on a specific layer within a thick biological sample and blur out the rest? Confocal microscopy makes this possible. It utilizes a laser beam to precisely illuminate a chosen plane within the sample, effectively eliminating information from out-of-focus regions. This allows researchers to create sharp, three-dimensional images of cells, tissues, and even small organisms.
Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM): This technique takes a completely different approach, venturing into the realm of physical interaction. AFM employs a tiny cantilever, akin to a microscopic feeler, to physically scan the surface of a sample. By measuring the minute forces between the cantilever and the sample's surface, AFM can map its topography at an atomic level. This provides invaluable insights into the properties of materials at an unimaginable scale, making it crucial for research in fields like nanotechnology and surface science.
Fluorescence Microscopy: Imagine illuminating a sample with specific wavelengths of light and observing it glowing in response. That's the essence of fluorescence microscopy. This technique utilizes fluorescent molecules or tags that bind to specific structures within a cell or tissue. When excited by light, these tags emit their own light, highlighting the target structures with remarkable clarity. This allows researchers to visualize specific proteins, DNA, or even pathogens within biological samples.
Super-resolution Microscopy (SRM): Overcoming the limitations imposed by the wavelength of light, SRM techniques like STED (Stimulated Emission Depletion) and PALM (Photoactivated Localization Microscopy) achieve resolutions surpassing the diffraction limit. This allows researchers to visualize structures as small as 20 nanometers, enabling the observation of intricate cellular machinery and the dynamics of individual molecules within living cells.
Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM): This powerful technique takes a snapshot of biological samples in their near-life state. Samples are rapidly frozen at ultra-low temperatures, preserving their native structure and minimizing damage caused by traditional fixation methods. Cryo-EM has been instrumental in determining the three-dimensional structures of complex molecules like proteins and viruses, providing crucial insights into their function and potential drug targets.
Correlative Microscopy: Combining the strengths of multiple microscopy techniques, correlative microscopy offers a comprehensive view of biological samples. For instance, researchers can utilize fluorescence microscopy to identify specific structures within a cell and then switch to electron microscopy to examine those structures in high detail. This integrated approach provides a deeper understanding of cellular processes and their underlying mechanisms.
Light Sheet Microscopy (LSM): Imagine illuminating a thin slice of a sample within a living organism. LSM achieves this feat by focusing a laser beam into a thin sheet of light, minimizing photobleaching and phototoxicity – damaging effects caused by prolonged exposure to light. This allows researchers to observe dynamic processes within living organisms over extended periods, providing valuable insights into cellular behavior and development.
Expansion Microscopy (ExM): This innovative technique physically expands biological samples by several folds while preserving their structural integrity. This expansion allows for better resolution and visualization of intricate cellular structures that would otherwise be difficult to distinguish using traditional microscopy methods. ExM holds immense potential for studying the organization and function of organelles within cells.
Scanning Near-Field Optical Microscopy (SNOM): This innovative technique pushes the boundaries of resolution by utilizing a tiny probe that interacts with the sample at an extremely close range. SNOM can not only image the surface features of a sample with exceptional detail but also probe its optical properties at the nanoscale. This opens doors for research in areas like material science and photonics, allowing scientists to study the behavior of light at the interface between materials.
X-ray Microscopy: Stepping outside the realm of light and electrons, X-ray microscopy offers unique capabilities. By utilizing high-energy X-rays, this technique can penetrate deep into samples, making it ideal for studying the internal structure of dense materials like bones and minerals. Additionally, it allows for the visualization of elements within a sample, providing valuable information about their distribution and composition.
From revealing the building blocks of life to aiding in the development of new medicines, the microscope has played an undeniable role in shaping our scientific understanding. As technology continues to evolve, one can only imagine the future breakthroughs this remarkable invention holds in unveiling the secrets of our universe, both seen and unseen. These advancements hold the potential to revolutionize our understanding of biological processes, develop new materials with extraordinary properties, and ultimately pave the way for breakthroughs in medicine, nanotechnology, and countless other fields. As we continue to refine and develop novel microscopy techniques and the future holds immense promise for further groundbreaking discoveries that will undoubtedly revolutionize our perception of the world around us.

MWW Artwork of the Day (2/1/24) Henri Fantin-Latour (French, 1836-1904) Un atelier aux Batignolles A Studio in the Batignolles Oil on canvas, 204 x 274 cm. Musée d'Orsay, Paris
Les Batignolles was the district where Manet and many of the future Impressionists lived. Fantin-Latour, a quiet observer of this period, has gathered around Manet, presented as the leader of the school, a number of young artists with innovative ideas: from left to right, we can recognise Otto Schölderer, a German painter who had come to France to get to know Courbet's followers, a sharp-faced Manet, sitting at his easel; Auguste Renoir, wearing a hat; Zacharie Astruc, a sculptor and journalist; Emile Zola, the spokesman of the new style of painting; Edmond Maître, a civil servant at the Town Hall; Frédéric Bazille, who was killed a few months later during the 1870 war, at the age of twenty-six; and lastly, Claude Monet.

"Canadian artist Zachari Logan isn’t your usual artist with his idiosyncratic style that blends a Lars von Trier-level sense of doom and the romanticism of the British poets Keats, Shelley and Byron. This is an artist, after all, who offers an ode to a cypress tree that the German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once sat beneath in “Goethe Cypress, Sunset; Guisti Gardens.” In his poetry book “A Natural History of Unnatural Things” he describes looking at art as “a dialogue with ghosts” as simple and as true a distillation of the magic of creation that spans centuries as any. As with so many of his drawings, the tree is captured in an unusual composition that changes mere rendition to subjective vision. The tree is represented by a portion of its boughs leaning into the frame, as the tree might be experienced lying beneath it and looking up. The cypress is framed against Logan’s soft blue paper that stands in for sky."

Put On Your Raincoats | Randy: The Electric Lady (Schuman & Strong, 1980)
This is the second movie I’ve seen co-directed by Zachary Strong, and like Little Showoffs, there’s a deconstructive streak. That movie was about exploring the fantasies of its participants, alternating between interviews and enactments, and eventually pulling back the curtain to show the work that goes into making these things. That movie’s overall attitude was fairly warm and supportive. This one’s, maybe less so. Here we find ourselves at some kind of institute of sexual studies where scientists are doing some very scientific research on the science of orgasms. For science, you see.
How it’s presented is any number of beautiful women in the throes of ecstasy, subject to stimuli either external or self-applied, while strapped to electrodes and the like, so they can be observed. For science, you see. Now, one might not take too much issue being conflated with the nice looking ladies in the cast, but one might object a little more to their relative lack of agency. The movie is softening the blow, but it’s still poking fun at you the viewer. The height of these jabs comes during a sequence where the subjects are forced to watch specially edited "commercial porno films" and masturbate, and what we see of the films is played so quickly and cut so incoherently, that one wonders how anyone can get off on it, which I suppose is the folly of skipping to the good parts. One of the scientists admits that pornography doesn’t do anything for him, as “there’s never any story” and you never get to know the characters, and the movie’s satire comes into focus. And even a character’s eventual sexual actualization is defined by a number of preprogrammed stimuli and positions.
The plot eventually turns to the extraction of “Orgasmine”, which allows two of the scientists to experience sex with each other entirely in their minds without actual physical interaction. One can speculate what sort of applications this might have in the name of science, but one should be wary lest it be used for less altruistic motives, such as world domination. Which may or may not be the motive of a mad scientist played by uberMILF Juliet Anderson, who may or may not want “enough Orgasmine to control the vurld!”.
Listen, you get Anderson chewing the scenery with a shitty German accent and a femdom lite routine, and this is automatically a good movie. You get the cute as a button Desiree Cousteau as the titular character (yes, Randy is a girl’s name here) and you have an even better movie. You get Lori Blue and Jesie St. James in the supporting cast and I certainly ain’t complaining. But what takes this to the next level is the forceful style with which this is executed. There’s an emphasis on sensory overload, like a sequence that cuts between Cousteau’s garden fantasy to her masturbating frantically to a pair of scientists fucking while we’re hit with colour effects and punchcards explode out of a computer (another scientist warns them “There’s no fucking in the sex institute!”). Or the porno sequence where we’re hit with a barrage of explicit imagery while punk rock blares on the soundtrack. Or the scene the dissolve-heavy scene where Cousteau and Blue masturbate together while reminiscing about past lovers, which has probably the best cross-cutting during sex scenes I’ve seen in porno.
The horror movie aesthetics and mix of coldness and camp invite comparisons with another pornographic favourite of mine, Nightdreams, although this leans heavier on the camp than the coldness. The lab setting, which includes a sassy mainframe computer and a mechanized dildo, on top of all the monitors, tape machines and cold interiors, help give this a distinct visual identity. So much so that the heavily degraded print, which alternated between giving the movie a gummy candy green and steely blue colour palette, didn’t manage to sink it. Ideally we’ll get a restoration of this at some point, but in any case it’s well worth a look.
