The tension smothers her sentence, despite her efforts. Kiara continues to stare at her. She really is not smiling.

Ritsuka swallows.

Kiara’s center of gravity slowly begins to shift.

She takes a step to Ritsuka’s right, eye contact lingering. And then another.

And then another, eye contact breaking as she begins to circle around behind her.

“And what,” she begins, “exactly, is it that I ‘really want.’” She stops. She’s so close. Ritsuka’s breaths are trembling. Sessyoin Kiara is standing behind her. It’s like turning away from a tiger, intentionally, knowing that’s the signal to pounce. Knowing that you would stand no chance.

She leans in close, so close right where Ritsuka’s shoulder and neck meet, and Ritsuka can feel the warmth radiating from her skin. Her breath tickles against Ritsuka’s ear. Her knees might give out.

“Hmmm?” she hushes, right in her ear. “Fujimaru. Ritsuka.”

Like the amount of people trying to erase these characters queerness is insane if you can’t accept that character for their sexuality then that makes you homophobic . And who cares about people writing fem x readers about straight characters like hello did we forget straight is the default sexuality? Also just because a character has a partner of different gender doesn’t automatically make them straight.

The fetishization, sexualization of lesbian’s is absolutely sick. Woman can NEVER have a space without a man being upset about something. you guys have a SHIT ton of media out their that are directed to you. Like even lesbian porn, GL’s and Yuri’s are directed to men never the audience it is attended for which is woman.

Writing Male X readers about Lesbian characters is a form or fetishizing which is overall very sick and homophobic and overall harmful. And getting mad and upset about something that is a very serious issue makes it seem as if you don’t see lesbians as humans but as a toy to your sexual mind.

Lesbian fetishization is the act of treating lesbians as sexual objects for the enjoyment of a privileged group, rather than accepting their sexuality. It can have real-world consequences, such as homophobic attacks and corrective grape.

And for all the men mad because Lesbians or woman in general are Men haters look at yourself and see why. You can’t respect anyone and then get so butt hurt when your called out for it. When people were speaking up about you guys writing Male readers about lesbian characters you tried to justify it when their isn’t any justification for your sick and twisted mindset.

If you maybe idk use your brain and realize why woman don’t like y’all you wouldn’t ask yourself “why doesn’t woman like me” like come on now look at the media, look at what is going on in this world right now for woman just existing. The light-leaks and scratches on the old film flicker over her face, masking her reflective white eyes. The video kicks back and loops. “My name is Nettie Schultz and I have died three times,” she repeats.

happy new year time for me to bother you with a TRAILER for my short animated film about a mars mission 🎉

surprise I have cobbled together shots I have done from my [traditional] animation I'm working on along with a TEST recording (which is why it sounds like it's being recorded in a toilet that is also a cathedral) of some of the music clips. I tried to edit it like a Real TM Trailer but the pacing is a little weird bc it's a silent film sorry

OK LOTTA BACKGROUND INFO UNDER THE CUT

So if you haven't seen my other posts, I sort of have this thing for doing projects I know damn well shouldn't be done by Just Me however if there's 3 things I enjoy it's exacerbating my wrist problems, traditional animation, and social isolation so last year to get my mind of the trash fire of an election season I bought a bunch of cels and paint and started working on this short film. It's gonna be maybe 10-15 minutes when done and, aside from a handful of tweaks*, it is all traditional 2d animation - hand drawn AND painted (which is why the frame rate makes even the recycled clips in 80s he-man cringe) .

Anyway if you didn't gather from the intertitles, this [a FICTIONAL STORY WHERE EVERYONE IS FICTIONAL PLEASE NO ONE SUE ME] is about the US and Russia collaborating on a mission to Mars where they're gonna send some folks up there to hang out and do research indefinitely until another mission happens. While the crew - comprised of an astronaut Adam and a cosmonaut Yuri - is in transit, war breaks out between the US and Russia back on earth, snapping the ever tightening rubberband of willing cooperation between the countries. Everything goes to hell, and in this case it also threatens to compromise the mission, meaning an uncertain future for the crew, who have to choose between loyalty to the death cult of blind nationalism, or loyalty to science and each other.

I am aiming to finish this in 2025...The story has been in the works for a while, but I only recently felt like "huh I kinda wanna animate this"

Im sorry the music is so....Like That lol. I wanted to get this done today before I go back to work and like I don't think anyone who follows me really minds if it's not perfect rn. See I only have a keyboard at the moment and I was trying to do an aux cable from it to my laptop to keep from recording the UNMANAGEABLE CLOMPCLOMPCLOMPITYCLOMPPP of the keys but it just made the sound toilety uhg oh well. Anyway I am writing some original stuff for the eventual whole film, but for this trailer I arranged some snippets of Tchaikovsky's sleeping beauty for piano (the score is in the public domain fyi...My arrangement is my own...). I've got some other bits of that in the works as well which will also show up in the full film.

Oh another thing is, most of the technical stuff should be fairly grounded in science (maybe aside from some Artistic License Engineering for story/ease of animation reasons, but....). So there's that. I don't think it makes much of a difference for the trailer but IM TELLING YOU BECAUSE I DID SIT THERE AND PAINSTAKINGLY RUN A FUCKING ORBIT PROPAGATION ALGORITHM TO BALLPARK WHERE THE SHIP SHOULD BE AT CERTAIN POINTS IN THE NARRATIVE AND YOU WILL KNOW I SUFFERED. FOR YOU, THE AUDIENCE.

*full disclosure by tweaks I mean stuff it's barely noticeable to you but impractical for me bc cels are REALLY expensive, so stuff like blinking and mouth movements I drew in photoshop because that's probably 100s of mouth-or-eye cels I can't really afford to waste, and you can only scratch paint off and reuse a cel so many times before it looks like crap. Some of the panning I also did by scanning the hand drawn cels and then changing the subject position in photoshop for each frame because I'm compositing frames essentially by sticking them face down in a stack on my scanner bed and haven't found a good way to do it yet. I've attempted to built a little track before but can't get it flat enough for the cover to make contact with the frames and smash them into the glass. If you have a solution for this, let me know.

anyway the target audience of this is people who liked Apollo 13 but wished it was worse quality and was more gay and anarchist so if you are vaguely that please enjoy and follow for updates on this costly and questionable venture

Happy new year! I continue to love yuri!! (and also... sonic the hedgehog... which has yuri in it now so really lucked out there)

2024 saw the end of one of my fav new(er) manga to come out recently, Monthly in the Garden with My Landlord! It really crept up on me for how much I've ended up liking it but dang, what a good ride! Sad to see it go but I'll defo keep up with the author's future works!

I've been doing a lot of catch up this year as there are plenty of longer running series' I just hadn't dug into, such as How Do We Relationship? Delicious in Dungeon and This Monster Wants to Eat Me.

Delicious in Dungeon is now so easily in my top 5 favorite manga of all time. Love the group dynamic, love the funniest morally grey elf Marcille Donato, love that its doesn't feel like it drags or goes too quick within its 14 volumes, just love it!! Also wild to see so much Farcille merch in the artist alley this year, it felt like every other table had something and I can't really think of another f/f pairing that's hit that level within the con circuit merch scene. It was a lovely to see!

On the more textual yuri side of thing: How Do We Relationship? Oh geez, of man, and what god damn read! It took me a few volumes to really get into it but the reveal that it's not “story about what happens after you start dating someone” but is actually “a story about what happens after you breakup with someone” is devastatingly good!

Rip to all the college yuri I'll read going forward because every one of them is going to be compared to HDWR, its set the new standard for me haha. It was so good I had to go and buy the whole thing in print as soon as I finished.

Speaking of which, this year I went back to buying manga in print and I'm really glad I committed to that! At first it was more a reaction to the waves of delisting we've seen but It was a lot of fun hunting down deals to populate the Yuri Tower. This corner of my room now legit makes me smile when I look at it, even if I'm going to have to work out how to fit more books on there soon.

On the video game side of things I played an old SNES RPG called Eternal Filiana and was sooo charmed by it. The game is based on a 80s light novel that is very much influenced by Lady Oscar's popularity at the time, having its own protag also be a blonde haired women who was raised as a man for plot reasons.

The part that was most interesting to me though was that the André to Filena's Oscar ended up being a woman she marries within the first 30 mins of the game. Filena and Lila can be a bit goofy in the games (b-b-but we're both women??) but they still have some legit sweet moments and having watched the OVA first, which is tries to take itself more seriously, I now have a real fondness for the pair. Here's to the first married yuri couple!

And finally... Sonic. It's been another good year for Sonic! The comics continue to be a fun read and I really liked Sonic X Shadow Generations despite being apathetic toward Shadow lol. He was good in it though and all his levels ripped! Great game! Third film also fun! Very excited by the characters who show up in the stinger :) I also got into making custom figure with my brother this year so that's been a fun hobby for us to do together.

For 2025 I'm looking forward to the anime of This Monster Want To Eat Me and suuuuper looking forward to The Moon on a Rainy Night! I need them to break the yuri anime of curse of having trash budgets though..... we cannot have another Whisper Me a Love Song situation..... AND WE WONT!! IM MANIFESTING GOOD THINGS!!

One thing I didn’t not expect before the end of the year is Quartet Night from Uta no Prince-Sama releasing two new songs (album?). The only way I found out is from Spotify’s Anime Playlist that had a couple of new releases on it.

Man, UtaPri is nostalgic. Watched the entire season 1 & 2 as well as played the gacha game for a bit. Couldn’t actually finish any of it cause I grew out of it. But man was that an intro to the Japanese Anime Idol fandom and a BIG yaoi/BL fan awakening for me. Also lowkey yuri from the anime MC and Roommate.

Back to the new Quartet Night song. Was indifferent to the group when I first learned about them in the anime. But now that I’m older, I appreciate them? Or understand the group better since I’m an adult and can think of the struggles they must face if they were a real life idol group.

I swear if UtaPri makes a comeback in 2025, I will be surprised and just give a simple congratulations and move on with my life.

i had a good time overall!! i really do like kang aeshim and that may have swayed me. a lot. her character was lovely and i like the way she SPEAKS and IS but im like that with every kang aeshim character so im biased

and what they did with daeho rly did tug on my heartstrings, im a sucker for a ptsd storyline and im very VERY interested in his character. the whole raised around girls kind of feminine forced to join the marines by his father to man up and getting visibly uncomfortable when his father is praised and for it to pay off with him just freezing up and crying and flinching when anyone comes near at the mutiny... just WONDERFUL WONDERFUL

ANDDDDDD doomed yuri round 2 but make it TRANS oh that was wonderful. i think hyunju is a wonderful character and her leadership was YUMMY.

i found myself ultimately bored by jo yuri and her baby daddy. i thought there would be more there and there just isnt and it just felt like... oh is that it? they killed my beautiful futch semi and that made me sad.

also NOEUL (likely) SHOOTING THE DAD SHE WAS PROTECTING THROUGH THE GAMES? whatever the fuck is happening on that ship? it felt... unfinished? i dont want a cliffhanger especially when it doesnt feel satisfying like... at all? "more in 2025" no more now dont piss me off finish your work.

tops character was funny but lacking any real EVIL. when i felt it building itd just disappear and overall it was very... eh. even when he was choking that guy out it wasnt enough to make him Evil Evil you know?

Pretty Cure is a long-running magical girl anime franchise (it celebrated its 20th anniversary last year) created by Toei Animation. It started out in 2004 with Futari wa Pretty Cure, and there’s been a new season every year since!

The stories usually follow the same formula: a group of girls is recruited by one (or more) fairies from another to become legendary warriors called Pretty Cure, to fight and protect the world from some type of evil (monster of the week). New seasons start in February and usually have between 40-50 episodes. This is a very simple way to describe it, as every season puts its own spin on the formula, as each season often has different variety directors, writers, animators, etc. There’s also some things that could be described as Pretty Cure’s signature style, which makes it stand out from other magical girl series:

While the Pretty Cure have magical powers, as well as magical weapons, one thing that makes the series stand out is the physical fighting the Pretty Cure engage in. They aren’t afraid to fight with their hands and feet!

There’s a general lack of focus on romance, as instead the girls’ friendship is the most important thing in the story. There are also yuri undertones quite often.

Magical items that are sold as toys in Japan! Every season has it’s own transformation items, as well as magical weapons which are sold in real life as merchandise for kids.

Every season features a new cast of characters, story, theme, villains, etc. While the story formula stays similar, the change up every year keeps things different. The only exceptions are the seasons of Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart and Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo, which are sequel seasons.

Because pretty much every season changes up its story & cast, you could start with any season, as they can all be watched separately. For example, you could start with the very first season (Futari wa Pretty Cure), but you could also catch up with the season that’s currently airing (Wonderful Pretty Cure). Or any season in between really… The Pretty Cure wiki has a very helpful list with short descriptions of every season here. While there are some seasons that are considered ‘best’ (Futari wa, Heartcatch, Go! Princess, Fresh, Hirogaru), I think the fun thing about Pretty Cure is that there is a season for everyone. You might end up loving a season that isn’t as popular with most fans, there’s many seasons to choose from! (My favorite seasons are Splash Star, Suite & Go! Princess :P)

Some other fun things to know:

There are quite a few All Stars movies, where Pretty Cure from different seasons meet up, and fight evil together in a special movie storyline.

Both Smile Pretty Cure & Doki Doki Pretty Cure got english dubs, where the seasons got some changes and were adapted as ‘Glitter Force’. They made changes to the story, and cut some episodes, but if you’re interested anyway you could find it on Netflix.

The first main male Pretty Cure was introduced last year in the season of Hirogaru Sky Pretty Cure, with Cure Wing joining the team.

There’s been some spin-offs, with a stage play called Dancing Star Pretty Cure The Stage, which features an all male Pretty Cure team, an anime sequel to Yes! Precure 5 & Yes! Precure 5 Gogo, following the girls from that season as adults aimed. A spin-off for Mahou Tsukai Precure was also announced, and will air in 2025.

This was written for Otayuri Week 2025 by @otayuri-challenges! I had a lot of fun with this day and can't wait to see what everyone else came up with!

Summary after the cut

“Since I regularly stalk your Instagram, I happen to know that you have a DJ gig tonight,” Yuri said as if that was a normal thing to say. To be fair, it was pretty normal coming from him. Otabek sat beside him, trying to ignore how that comment made him feel. “Is that so?” “Mhm.” “If you were anyone else I’d be creeped out.” “Aren’t I lucky? Anyways, you’re still going?”

Otabek realized what Yuri was insinuating and beat him to the punch. “I am. Would you like to join?”

Yuri pretended to consider. “Where is it?” “The club with the actual DJ booth. The full room with the tinted window. The one we always go to when you’re in town.” Maybe he was laying it on thick, but he really wanted Yuri to tag along.

Yuri sighed dramatically, fighting off a smile. “Well, then I guess I’m forced to go. For the sake of tradition, of course.” “Of course,” Otabek agreed.

Yuri let the joke die and laughed. It was a youthful sound, not like the dry chuckles he tried to pass off for laughter around competitors and interviewers. Otabek used to enjoy those fake snickers whenever he could draw them out, but now that he had tasted the ichor of Yuri’s real laugh, they were fool's gold. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Or, Otabek has to fight his painfully obvious crush on Yuri when he surprise visits him for New Year's. He fails.
