Well-Known - SPY X FAMILY; he thinks it's cute and appreciates the sentiment of being able to live in a happy family despite the secrets hidden away. For obvious reasons, he relates to Loid the most.

More Obscure - THE CASE STUDY OF VANITAS; he likes the portrayal of vampires and likes to compare it to Bram Stoker's Dracula. His favorite character is Dominique de Sade, whom he refers to as "tragic and feisty."

Mammon

Well-Known - ONE PIECE; he's just one of those people that loves to scream "THE ONE PIECE IS REAAAALLLL" and likes the treasure-hunting aspect combined with the camaraderie.

More Obscure - BLUE EXORCIST; funny, right? He used to mock Satan every time his name popped up until the couch was destroyed. He thinks Rin is cool and argues with Lucifer all the time that he's better than Yukio.

Leviathan

Well-Known - SWORD ART ONLINE; Levi likes the concept more than the characters if he's honest, but he thinks Heathcliff is a total boss.

More Obscure - THE EMINENCE IN SHADOW; like many people who watch Isekai, Levi thinks the tropes start to get a little too copy-and-paste after a while, and he appreciates the parody. He loves Cid and goes into great detail to explain why the anime is genius.

Honorable mention - SAO ABRIDGED because Levi also loves it 10x more than the original even if it's fan-made.

Satan

Well-known - BLACK BUTLER; A revenge plot mixed up with detective stories and a cruel demon butler that loves cats? He vibes with Sebastian and would like him *just a little more* if Levi hadn't pointed out that he looks like Lucifer.

More Obscure - MORIARTY THE PATRIOT; it's Sherlock but anime; what more could he ask for? When asked who his favorite character is, he usually can't decide between the Moriarty's because he likes all of them for different reasons and usually says William by default.

Asmodeus

Well-Known - INUYASHA; Loves it for the romance and thinks Inuyasha and Kagome make a great couple. He even likes the "Inuyasha... Kagome... Inuyasha! ... Kagome!" moments.

More Obscure - KAGUYA-SAMA LOVE IS WAR; Wants to kiss half of the cast because they're beautiful and will sometimes yell at the screen when Shinomiya and Shirogane misunderstand each other (he ships it hard).

Beelzebub

Well-Known - VIOLET EVERGARDEN; he cries every single time, but he loves it because Violet reminds him of Lilith, and he likes how it has a hopeful ending.

More Obscure - FOOD WARS!; It's literally a cooking show, and he couldn't be happier. The fanservice often goes over his head until one of his brothers mumbles something about it, at which point he might feel embarrassed.

Belphegor

Well-Known - JUJUTSU KAISEN; he likes it because it's more on the dark side; his favorite character is Mahito and has remarked at least once that he thinks it would be fun to carry humans in his pocket like that (he said this specifically to scare you).

More Obscure - MAOU-JOU DE OYASUMI; he loves this series because it's all about his favorite past-time. He often writes down what Princess Suyaris says, muttering "wow, I never thought about doing that..."

Blue Exorcist 147 summary

The official translation is delayed relative to the raws this month so I get to paraphrase a chapter just like old times! The nostalgia!

Fairly detailed spoilers and no images:

Asmodeus goes on about how Shura is full of contradictions (young but also somehow aged, cold like ice but with a burning passion, full of life but death has always been close by) and says she's his type (ewwwww) Shura says Asmodeus is not her type, sorry, and shoots him full of icicles XD He tells her to go deeper with it (eeeewwwwwwwww), the pain makes him feel alive

Rin and Yukio have another round of "BUT SHURA!" "BUT THE WHOLE MISSION!" and the mission wins out They safely make it to the door with the rest of the team, but the door won't open normally so we've got some kind of RPG style door puzzle on our hands Yukio sees the L (probably Left) and R (probably right) on the doors but that doesn't explain THAT MESSED UP LITTLE DISPLAY OVER THERE So the real question is what on EARTH does the bleeding corpse suspended over a meat grinder with the inscription "VL" mean Yukio and Neuhaus together wonder if the V is roman numeral 5 and 5L means you have to give it five liters of blood (one person's worth) to open it They get as far as wondering if you could just borrow like a freshly dead corpse from the battlefield, (they're not using their blood anymore, does it HAVE to be fresh?) before Rin is like….yeah we could take a look at the whole thing from above first though? Heh I think Rin is using fire to burn some footholds as he and Yukio climb? (Edit: wait I'm dumb it's Satan's fire, I already forgot that the walls burn you when you try to climb them lol) Yukio showed off his fireproofness and Rin was all impressed and Yukio very nearly almost smiled

MEANWHILE Amon is struggling with Osceola more than he thought In fact, the fight has damaged/destroyed his emerald ring! His 10.8 carat emerald ring!! Tragic He stomps on Osceola brutally while yelling THAT WAS WORTH MORE THAN YOUR DUMB HUMAN LIFE and OH JESUS IS THAT A DISEMBODIED ARM My Concern For Osceola Gauge just spiked again guys Katoh please he's two days from retirement!! Amon decides screw it, he's just gonna blow everything up at this point. Apparently being a sun god comes with the ability to go supernova and be reborn later (Huh! The sun disk over his head is his demon heart! and he's able to shatter it and have it reform) It'll take like ten minutes for this drama man to do his drama thing so let's cut back to the kids

Rin and Yukio find that the door leads to a bottomless pit even if you DO get it open So what gives? L might be "left" but what's the V? Rin observes that there's some patterns/symbols/something on the ground. Yukio recognizes them as Indo-Arabic numerals. V is 7. So I guess the seventh symbol on the left is the real door. They go there and find a little hidden entrance. No blood sacrifice required! The weird meat machine is a gross red herring! I feel like this is a lil jab at the first anime ending XD

On the way to bring everyone to the entrance, we run into This Asshole Again ("BUT SHURA!" "BUT THE WHOLE MISSION!") Asmodeus says that it's a pretty sweet gig, being a demon of his or Amon's level. Easy to find hosts and they don't disintegrate too fast. But BECAUSE of that, you don't REALLY get to feel alive (He shoots nasty energy beams at the kids and Shura defends them as he's saying this) Asmodeus says that pain and fear and despair are all proof that you're alive! And he can live vicariously through Shura by making her feel these things! Ew!

Cliffhanger on him winding up to kill someone or other in front of an exhausted Shura, while Osceola tries to stand up Osceola is just absolutely maxing out my Concern For Osceola Gauge in that last panel. Concern levels are off the charts here

MAJOR BLUE EXORCIST MANGA SPOILERS BEWARE

Here's a post I wrote last October responding to an ask with my theories on the main and supporting casts and whether or not we've seen death flags for them. Though, rather than a death flag, I would say Osceola had straight up foreshadowing leading up to the events of the recent chapters lmao. Now we all know that when someone gets a short backstory chapter that something will happen to them soon! It happened to Izumo's mom too! :,D

Since it's been about 4 chapters since I wrote that post, I guess I could update it a bit, though to be honest, I haven't been reading super closely lately. If I could choose, I would wait until the volume release to read this arc but alas, I would get spoiled no matter what in 2 seconds after the chapter drops (has happened)

Lewin- I do not think he has a death flag, at least he's not dying just yet. His character story arc is not anywhere near finished yet. He is a major piece on the chessboard and we are only just beginning to get a feel for what his true purpose in all of this is. Whether or not he survives afterwards is not certain though! I wouldn't be surprised either way.

Shura- I'll be super pissed if all of Asmodeus's comments on her being "close to death but yet full of vitality" or whatever is actually true. She, like Ryuuji, and Izumo and Takara has had her character arc told already and they're all sitting on the sidelines as benchwarmers in terms of plot relevance at the moment. I very much hope that she survives all this and ends up with aa family of her own at the end of the series TwT.

In my last post I even said "Shura might come close, but she'll hang in there so she can attend Rin's graduation." and look at what happened OTL "Hang in there"... Kato are you testing me right now... Close call number 1 out of ??

Exwires- so like... this is a Shonen manga right? Where's my cool power ups and special moves...They can't die before they get those!!!

It was good, we're getting some more action!! I like seeing Shura battle again, and I'm also worried about Osceola now after the fight with Amon, he looks like he was in rough shape. I hope he pulls through and we can see the extent of his power instead of keeping him off to the side for the most part

And seeing Rin and Yukio work together while still bickering like siblings was great, and we get to see how they've sort of made up and are learning how to actually work well together by utilizing Rin's strength and Yukio's strategizing to find a way into the castle

I'm curious about what they'll be met with in the fortress now that they've found a way in

I wouldn't say there was much for character development this chapter however, other than seeing a bit more on what kind of people (well, demons, but whatever) Amon and Asmodeus are, nothing much for the main cast though

Still curious as to how Arthur is gonna show up again and what Lightning is currently up to, I feel like at least Lightning might get some focus next chapter though

Ever since Cecilia’s birthday, any respect for the brothers, the royals, and even the angels and the Solomon was gone. No one even bothered to hide their disdain for them as they all ignored them and carried on with their day. The boys on the other hand? Miserable. To hear those very words come out of your mouth as you looked down at them with a burning hatred made them flinch just by remembering it. Cecilia on the other hand, was still shameless as ever, as she continuously acted scared around you. It was really pathetic, to even breathe in their general direction, as you simply chose to be with Lamia, and Mephistopheles and enjoy their company. One fine day you were hanging out with Mephistopheles when suddenly you were yanked into an empty classroom. You clutched your head in pain as you groaned and looked around you. Your vision was still hazy as you heard the door being locked. “What the fuck..” you muttered as you got up, trying to process everything as someone muttered “look what you’ve done, scumbag. You’ve hurt them again.” Scowled Asmodeus. You immediately realised the situation as your face darkened. “What the hell were you all thinking?!” You yelled at them as they flinched at your harsh tone. “D-Darling, we’re sorry-“ “Can you shut it already?” You stated as you raised your hand at Asmodeus. “Mc! Are you okay? Did Mammon hurt you-“ “Honestly you’re more annoying than Mammon, Simeon. Please keep quiet.” He immediately shut his mouth, he honestly looked more pathetic. “So. What was I dragged in here for? I thought you guys didn’t want to associate yourselves with someone like me?” You asked mockingly, as you eyed Lucifer. “Mc..” “stop being fucking slow and answer me, surely you did not drag me into a fucking classroom and lock the door just to act pathetic, right?” “We want to apologise.” “Oh? The Lucifer wants to apologise? Damn.” You chuckled as you sat yourself on a desk. “Well? It was then the prince, he kneeled in front of you as he looked at your eyes. “Hmm? What sort of display of shame is this? Do you have something useless to say?” He immediately took your hands in his as he stated. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry for the way I treated you, the way we treated you. If this has hurt you in anyway I’ll take responsibility Mc, please don’t leave us, nothing will be the way it was before without you. Please, I’ll take the appropriate punishment and I’ll suffer for what I’ve done, but please just-“ it was then you yanked your hand out of his and slapped him across the face. The prince only looked more and more dejected as he knew he deserved it. He stopped Barbatos from helping him as he chose to bear your full wrath, “You have no right to talk.” You stated as you grabbed his hair. “You have no idea, NO absolute idea how I felt from the beginning. YOU kidnapped me from MY normal life. He wanted to cry as he knew, he too, was one of the reasons you were like this. “Im sorry.” “Don’t apologise.” “Huh?” He looked surprised as he looked up at you. “Don’t look at me like that. You’re just a kid, you did what your guardian did, it’s natural. Besides, you didn’t do anything wrong, you just wanted to spend time with Cecilia.” You stated as you removed his hands from yours gently “I don’t want to hear anything more. I need time to process this. Please, let me be.” You stated, as everyone suppressed the urge to hold you. To see you so broken, and to know, that they were the cause of this, oh god they wanted to cry. “I understand. This won’t be easy, take all the time you need Mc.” “Shut it.” And with that you immediately ignored everyone as you ran back to the nearest restroom as you cried locking yourself in the closest stall.

Was once offered an energy drink and accepted it, resulting in him not sleeping for three days and cleaning the entire dorm. The second energy drink (and every following one) did nothing

He owns. So many penguin related items. Do you know those people who don't really have a hobby or an interest but you know their favorite animal, so that's all they get for their birthday/other holidays? That's him

Once he moves out, he probably gets household items with penguins on them too. Notebooks. Soap. Towels. Socks. At some point it stopped being funny but became funny again because there's just so many

Yukio doesn't have many penguin plushies though, because he thinks they're impractical and it's embarrassing to have a stuffed animal. (also because sometimes Kuro will sleep in his bed and Kuro is extremely jealous of anything vaguely shaped like a stuffed animal)

Keeps up Skype calls with Liu (the guy from the movie) and also taught himself some Chinese to talk to him. They usually switch to another language very quickly because Yukio is too embarrassed and doesn't want to say something wrong

Knows that Shura takes her hot chocolate with rum, so he keeps some in the kitchen for her but will not touch it himself

Whenever he can tell that he might get worse, he texts Rin and they'll go out and eat their favorite food. Their other friends sometimes join as well

He owns a copy of that children's book from the movie (courtesy of Liu) and once spent an afternoon with Rin trying to write (and draw) an alternate, happier ending

actually really enjoys being cuddled but only accepts it from Diavolo, Solomon (and Asmodeus but it's more a matter of... Asmodeus simply cannot be stopped and he gives good hugs)

oddly competitive when it comes to playing board games/games of any kind with Lucifer

does NOT react well to energy drinks. Vibrates on a different frequency you can't possibly imagine. Time and space no longer exist for him. He hates it

will not say "i love you" to his friends but instead things like "this is my favorite reality because of the relationship I have with you"

Diavolo picks out his wardrobe except for the human world outfit because I will give the blame to Barbatos here

seriously, what is that outfit, what is he trying to do there. He should know better

apparently knows a lot about the world at the time he joined Diavolo but years of spending time at the Castle made sure that he lost touch. That's the only explanation I can give you for that outfit
