As I’m doing my umteenth rewatch before s3, it’s clearer every time that Syd as a character is allowed no grace for her flaws, whereas the incels constantly worship Carmy and Richie regardless of their flaws. They overlook Carmy leaving the cigarettes next to the stove, Richie’s unsanitary proxy job, Carmy starting the brigade and dumping everything on Sydney, the way Richie is literally an asshole to everyone and super microagressive to Sydney, Carmy’s toddler level meltdown during the to go mess. Yeah, the GGDD 'parking lot incident'. Fans get really excited about stuff like this. Well, here are the photos so you can decide for yourself:

Both of these are much clearer than the alleged 'parking lot kiss'.

The photos behind this and many of the other supposed sightings of GGDD together are so blurry you can hardly make out humanoid shapes in them, and even if you suspend disbelief and accept that the shape might be a person, it could literally be anyone. The only thing we ever have to support the idea that it might be GG and DD is the word of the stalker scum who claims to have taken the photo/video. And they have a lot to gain by lying about it, or even staging these sorts of things and making the accompanying material conveniently blurry and indistinct.

Consider the source and what they might have to gain by lying. Consider the possibility that the source might themselves have been misled or misreading what they were seeing. Consider the power of mob mentality and wishful thinking. Consider whether you need someone else to tell you what you're looking at in order to be able to even 'know' what you're looking at, and what that might say about the BS level involved. Consider whether you have any evidence at all in front of you.

And I'd like to remind everyone that this kind of thing is a knife that cuts both ways. If we're willing to take seriously a blurry photo where we can't even make out humanoid shapes let alone identify who those people might be or what they might be doing, then what's going to happen when antis show us a fake photo that they claim depicts an actress wearing a bone necklace, for example?

Please be careful out there, and learn to evaluate 'evidence' in a rational, critical way. There are plenty of free resources for learning critical thinking, and even many free university level courses available online. I can't possibly overstate the importance of understanding these concepts - not just as a fan but as a person trying to navigate an increasingly fact-averse world.

But on to the bigger issue with this particular type of material, which is our attitudes toward GG and DD's privacy and well-being.

I've talked about this a lot over the years, and I've even answered this exact 'parking lot' question multiple times in the past (this claim isn't from 2024, it's actually many, many years old - I think it goes back as far as 2019 IIRC). This kind of invasive BS is far, far beneath our dignity to explore and dig into. I hope we can all strive to be better people than this.

If GG and DD were actually ever photographed kissing in a parking lot somewhere, would you not think the kinds of people who would get excited about this and share it around and breathlessly comment on it are total assholes? Because I certainly would. This is stalker behavior, and people having a wank off of an invasion of GG and DD's privacy. It's putting fandom insecurities and 'proof-seeking' above GG and DD's well-being.

As fans we should always have GG and DD's best interests at heart. There is no leap of logic where going after this kind of thing can be perceived as being in any way in GG and DD's best interests.

We shouldn't be dupes, we shouldn't be stalkers. Please always remember that GG and DD are human beings, not characters in a drama. If we don't see photos of them together it's because it's not in their best interests to be seen together. Sit with that for a moment. Take it to heart.

I know this kind of response from me can feel harsh to some people, but I really feel that these ideas will be totally self-evident to anyone who centers the humanity and well-being of GG and DD in their fandom experience. It's sad when people's first thought isn't for GG and DD's safety and privacy, especially when we're talking about a gay couple under a queer-hostile government.

Whether the photos are real or not, the attitude we have toward them and the way we discuss them creates a climate and a standard for how fandom handles such things. Treating this type of thing as exciting and salacious rather than as invasive and disrespectful gives people social license to pursue and share stalker material. It helps fans disassociate GG and DD from their humanity and treat them as objects or fictional characters rather than as people.

I understand that it's easy to get swept up in things and I don't want you to feel judged or disliked by me. I don't feel that way at all - I truly don't - and I hope you don't take my feelings about this topic personally. I just get so angry when I see stuff like this.

You are by no means the first people to get caught up without thinking, and you won't be the last. I just hope you'll reflect on it and understand why it's not a good path to go down if you want what's best for GG and DD.

I firmly believe that everyone should engage in fandom in whatever way best aligns with their values and interests. I just think that choice should ideally be a conscious, informed one.

Okay, I've applied a few patches to y232* including using a different backend for yt videos, I'm seeing big speed improvements but I did have to retry so its definitely not immediately solving the problem but we'll see how it pans out, I think tomorrow I'll write a proxy pausing algorithm for when the dreaded error pops up so hopefully that'll solve a little more of the issue

Toby Appearance HCs

It's been awhile since I've read his backstory and I am aware of the tobyxclockwork fiasco, so this Toby will be a little different.

I picture him to be about 5'5, 6 pretty average height, he has a pretty slim muscular figure and has plenty of scars.

He has multiple scars from the accident and many more from being a proxy. He counts them every day and tells EJ so he can document them.

His hair is brown and very curly, it kinda shags behind his ears when it gets too long so he cuts the sides, kind of like funkyfrogbait (on yt) if you've seen them.

He still has the mouth hole on his face but he got it for a different reason when he was younger (more in my backstory section)

His fingers have bandages courtesy of EJ cause he keeps biting them and he wears gloves or oven mittens (funny story) to keep them away.

Although he bites absentmindedly, it helps when they can't be seen.

He usually wears a variety of cardigans, pullovers and hoodies with baggie jeans and some sneakers, not a specific brand, but most likely a high top of some sort.

He has some piercings but they can't be visable around Slender because of proxy dress code (more on that later) so he either takes them out, wears them only on special occasions, or has them hidden.

hey, it's me, the anon that left the ask about studying Native American history and cultural appropriation. Thanks for the book recommendations, I've added them all to my to-read list.

It's crazy how much people seem to dislike the topic of history I've chosen, but you genuinely helped so much. Definitely reassured me. I've also bought bury my heart at wounded knee which is a *bit* outdated but was the first book I bought on the topic so I always think of it fondly, and another called Blood and Land, and also one called a Century of Dishonour, which was written in the 1880s (very outdated in areas but also. definitely against the government policies). I'm also trying to expand my reading horizons from what happened in the 19th century USA.

(Btw, wasn't Killers of the Flower Moon turned into a film recently starring Leonardo di Caprio?? I wondered if you'd watched it. I would like to find some more modern films/tv shows with good indigenous rep - I watched Annie Get Your Gun a while back but frankly it was shit. I want to purge it from my mind).

Yes I am very excited for the movie to come out, and there’s nothing wrong with outdated books besides biases told by the white people at the time, you gotta be picky and not take everything at face value. I read so many old books and university papers of recounts of native history and it’s kind of an art to describe them and the bs some of them say and the crab meat of truth you’re trying to find. Or like by proxy of growing up and hearing stories, and then using those accounts to figure out "oh that’s what they mean" or "Oh they mean this thing not that, they mixed it up." Cultural and language mistranslations are just so prevalent.

Then here’s some movie and video recommendations, I’ll just say with Wind River and Bury my heart again be kinda thoughtful about them. Bury my heart has like this Hollywood kinda atmosphere, more cinematic it’s a great movie but it’s also based on events and they kinda dramatized some. Gives me the same feeling of "woman who walks ahead." Still great movies and a great way to get a feel for thing that happened back then. I really love news of the world too especially what they show with the buffalo and little girl, but I really wish they hired a native actress, it’s true that adoption of any race of people happened a lot in tribes but the representation of native kids in Hollywood is nonexistent and I think these movies would be so much better portraying native head leads. With Wind River if Jeremy renner and Elizabeth Olsen where switched out with native leads the plot would be so much richer. Like a city native and Rez native story would be so good. Movies that greatly follow white leads or have white characters for the yt audience to attach to just limits the movie for me.

I think there are a couple of reasons why the Sussex Squad became so prolific.

1. Initially, this is between late 2015 to 201, MM spent a lot of money and time, buying bots and then consolidated this bit army to make herself popar on social. Mainly via her website and her personal+tig insta.

2. She used very strategic PR, short videos, cutsey appearances, interviews, pre-election political soundbyttes etc, to make it seem like she was very popular and in demand. Then used paid bots to make these videos and articles popular via engagement. So, then when she blew up on the world stage it seemed like she had a fan following already. New people became fans. And more bots and paid accounts padded the numbers.

3. Sunshine Sachs was a huge win for her. They literally created a fan army for her and then made it seems like a bigger deal than it was. I do think they ran a lot of parallel fan campaigns along with hate campaigns for her to make it seem like she was a bigger celebrity than she was.

4. She bought or paid off the more vocal social media accounts covering her. YouTube, twitter, Tumblr accounts. I think she also created fake accounts, dummy profiles and proxy handlers for YT, Ig, Tumblr, Fb etc as both fan accounts and hate accounts, which garnered followers and pushed her desires narrative. She created cults in either side this way.

5. She employeed certain people, who became the face of her hate campaign or defence campaigns. She also recruited the fans, made a group, and gave them directions about what to do. These individuals in turn, ran their own bots, and ran multiple accounts. Which made it seems like their were more people in the squad, when in reality it may just have been 2 people running 15 accounts between them.

This is just my assumption from whatever has become public knowledge about her more fanatic fans. And from what I know of how PR agencies manage/orchestrate fan followings for celebs.

Apart from all the above, MM also benefits from being - a Hollywood celeb. A biracial American celeb. A woman. A College educated and articulate celeb. An LA girl. Relatively unknown, pre-harry. An American. An American married into the whitest, most privileged, very well known high profile family. The underdog and the inherent bias most people have against Britain's colonial past. Being married to an idiot.

Makes sense.

I tried so damn hard to move on with my life and ignore the petty games people were playing around me. First with Lupin and now this. Lupin 2.0, I guess. Hell, actually, if Lupin somehow sees this... you are now relieved of your title. Jess has taken that. She's worse in every sense of the word.

Now, unlike her, I'm not gonna ramble you to death because I'm gonna get straight to the points I need to make and not feed you lies like she does.

Stalking: Undeniable. Screenshots of blogs that you did not have access to. You were blocked. And if you were sent screenshots by third parties, that is stalking by proxy. Period. She has provided her own self damning evidence in her own callout for me. If you've looked at that and thought she was in the right? Well you need to take a step back. I have asked to be left alone. I have attempted time and time again to just write and enjoy my life. But nope. She's a sad and pathetic child who has to win every argument. CLASSIC narcissistic traits.

Harassment: Being unable to let things be and let me move on. You don't like me? I don't care. Deal with it. I exist. But that's too much, right? I would like to hear your thought about what this brand new Kaworu analysis video said on YT: He does get interested in Shinji, but merely in agape love way, especially when the early draft that showed Kawoshin as not at all subtle, but it got rejected in the end. Therefore we should view Kaworu as he is in the final product: way less blatantly homoerotic, but his entire character history and biography also had to change. He is now pretty much Adam himself in the final product, very different what he was originally planned to be. Which is why his homoerotic traits need to be reevaluted within the context of the final product. He is a deity representative of an idealized version of Shinji's psyche, inability to contact with people outside of universal speech and with selfless righteousness regarding morality. The way he connects with Shinji may appear as romantic, but to suggest a god-like character of his bg and role could conceptualize having a romantic relationship with a human he had planned to kill indrectily makes no sense within the story. It was clear to the audience that he was not human and did not see thing from a human POV, but he also calls all humans Lilin, suggesting he sees Shinji as an other. Apparently Kaworu was even directly modeled after Jesus Christ. If Kaworu was romantically attracted to Shinji, it would mean he is an emotional sadist who finds broken people attractive, would be capable of falling in love with with a complete stranger within 24 hours of meeting them, and that he's capable of full human emotions. None of these add up given Kaworu's history and behaviour, which is why Kaworu's love feels more like an agape kind, as he likely doesn't understand love like a human would. His screentime is also so short that it's hard to fully understand him as a character.

I'm not really fond of the 'agape love' angle for a few reasons. Sure, Kaworu is altruistic, but that doesn't undermine his romantic feeling toward Shinji. Kaworu's status as an angel is used as a counterpoint to say that he doesn't quite love like people can. That the love he can/does process is that of God to His children. I express this exact same grievance to the 'worthy of my grace' angle from the retranslation of Netflix's Evangelion.

The point of angels and humans, or hell, any thing that seems vastly different is that we're more alike than meets the eye. Angels are treated as these eldritch beings, and make no mistake they still are in some ways...but they understand emotions too. Emotions aren't a human-exclusive complexity. Since we're here, Evangelion isn't about the human condition. The similarity culminates in End of Evangelion, where Misato states to Shinji that humans and angels are basically the same. The greatest difference is our progenitor.

Kaworu's characterization didn't take an absolute overhaul. He's not a transfer student or owning a cat, sure. Certain things are more subtle than others, such as Kaworu's deep fears. The draft manifests Kaworu's vulnerabilities via self-harm scars on the wrist. Or even the dark implications extracted from the words 'because living is so difficult.' Kaworu's issue in the final cut is a subtle anxiety not easily gleaned by action alone and that's a topic I'll cover further down this thread.

Kaworu is Adam on virtue of housing their soul. Given that Adam is the mother of angels, Kaworu is by proxy, his own mother.

He is a deity representative of an idealized version of Shinji's psyche, inability to contact with people outside of universal speech and with selfless righteousness regarding morality.

Kaworu is not a deity and neither is Adam. Adam's status as a progenitor doesn't equate to actual godhood. In order to become a god in Eva's universe, one must possess both Fruits of Life and Wisdom. The angels born from Adam possess Life. Mankind possesses Wisdom.

He is however, an idealized version of Shinji. Someone who, to Shinji, is so awe-inspiring that he can't help but gain a complex from him.

I'd also like to argue that Kaworu's somewhat detached way of speaking doesn't come from the idea that he isn't human (there's a lot of debunking from the show's narrative) but due to his upbringing. On that end, Rei speaks in a similar pattern to Kaworu. Detached but not unsettling. Rei was heavily surveilled by Gendo and Kaworu was under the eyes of SEELE. Also, what about Kaworu was self-righteous? Kaworu never showed an inkling of conceit in the show's canon.

To reiterate: not a god. Also, 'planned to kill.' The angels merging with Adam weren't meant as a show of conceit at humanity/lilin. It's biological drive. There's nothing moral or immoral of it whatsoever. Kaworu actively questions the desire of returning to mother Adam, knowing this would annihilate humanity. I'd also like to add that there were several factors, and that Shinji wasn't the sole reason for Kaworu's qualms during his descent to Heaven's Door. Kaworu's comment about music has always stood out to me for years because he states it to be the 'highest' form of lilin culture. Implying there's other interests of his from people. Considering how he's so interested in Shinji's issues, it's very possible he has marked interest in the living condition.

Furthermore, if Kaworu did plan to kill Shinji from the jump, then why not use Unit-02 to easily dispose of Unit-01 rather than using the Evangelion as a distraction? Kaworu can fenagle with sync rates of an Evangelion, provided it has a non-dominant/shut off soul.

Othering isn't about differentiation, it's about the contempt you have for those who aren't you. Kaworu calls Shinji Lilin...because he himself isn't human. That's all. He didn't see anything from a human POV...despite questioning the desire of merging with Adam.

I see this notion quite often and I notice a pattern each time: Kaworu's supposed lack of attraction is used to say that he 'manipulated' Shinji's mental state at the time. Or that he feigned emotion because emotions are a foreign concept because he's not human. But if Kaworu did love Shinji, it's because he's secretly selfish and gets his jollies off from Shinji's trauma. It's chiefly fueled by bad faith in either direction.

Emotions are a complex thing. You can't necessarily make a few behaviors The Standard and shun anything but. People process their feelings differently. Also, to tackle the emotions thing, I wrote a few observations of certain subtleties that debunks the long-held 'human' emotion notion.

Apparently there are always two eps in advance available for the premium subscribers but I'm not caught up plus I think it'd be a little harder to sign up for an actual paid account so I probably won't be able to do that.

So normally I would use youtube-dl/yt-dlp to download the eps but that won't work here, or at least not without some extra steps, because these are DRMed. This is where it gets a little tricky and the whole process isn't super well documented both because it changes a lot and it makes more sense to teach people to learn how to do it than how to do it and also because, well, the more these methods are spread, the more networks change things up and make things harder.

That provided command in the second post, that's something to be used in your command line, on Windows in Start you can open that by typing in cmd or PowerShell or just google what you'll need for your computer.

These are the things you'll need to get to run the command:

N_m3u8DL-RE is a tool you can google and download, and also ffmpeg and mp4decrypt. You'll want them in the same folder for convenience. (I think you might need to install python too? If it says you do, then go ahead, lol.)

The way to get the key, this is the most gatekept part, probably. The various streamers out there use different methods of encryption and increasing security levels, and if you read up on it, you'll see stuff about kid and pssh and cdm and L3, it can be overwhelming, but in this case, the things you need are relatively easily accessible.

I'll tell you how to get the pssh and the license URL and you'll be able to use those to get the key. There are several tools you can use them on, one is public and easy, one is private but still easy-ish, and one is pretty complex and not a route I've gone down myself yet (it's the pinned thread in that particular forum). I don't want to link any of them myself, but I'll link to a thread that mentions the easy public one. It does go down at times which is why the hardcore people recommend that last method.

First, before you click on an ep, open up your browser's Developer Tools, usually Ctrl+Shift+i will do the trick. Go over to your Network tab, this shows all the requests your browser makes when you go to a site.

Then click on the episode in the actual browser. You'll see a flood of requests in the Network tab, filter on mpd.

Select the mpd result and the details for it show on the side, click on Preview. Scroll down until you see <!-- Widevine -->. A couple of lines below it, you'll see something like <cenc:pssh>AAA[a bunch of characters]</cenc:pssh>

Grab that whoooole part that starts with AAA, that's the pssh. Go to the Headers detail tab while you're there and grab the Request URL, this is the mpd link we're going to use later.

Now to get the license. Usually you can filter in your Devtools Network tab on license or, in this case, widevine. Since we're already on the Headers detail tab, grab this Request URL now, it should start with https://widevine-proxy-m.prod.p.tf1.fr/proxy?

Now go back to that easy public tool linked in that thread I linked, lol, and just fill in the PSSH and the License. Hit Send and you get a list of three keys at the bottom. I've always gone for the one in the middle and not bothered with all three, but you can try them all.

So at this point, you should be able to fully create and use the command in the first forum link above. If you read the documentation for N_m3u8DL-RE, there are various flags you can use, --save-name "Outputname" will let you name the output what you want, -sv best defaults to the best video quality, -sa best is best audio quality, and so on.

The way to get the subtitle is to turn on subtitles on the video player on the site and to go back to the DevTools box and filter on textstream. Grab the first request, the one that ends with =1000.dash and paste it into a new browser address, and change the .dash to .vtt. That's the subtitle. :) You can use the free tool Subtitle Edit to both convert it to srt, which will let most video players play it with your video, and there's also an Auto-translate option that lets you translate to English. It offers several ways but as I don't have a Google API, I just use the normal "slow" method, it's not that bad.

A second way to get the subtitle is to use the same command as when you're downloading the ep but remove the -M format=mp4 at the end, and instead add -ss 'id="textstream_fra=1000":for=all'

This was all figured out through a LOT of trial and error on my part so please do try your own best if you hit some issues, that's the best way to learn. Also, I just don't want to be the helpdesk on this, lol.
