Episode 11 Review (Jason & Thomas)

I actually have rather little to say about this one, overall it was an okay-ish episode and it didn’t have much in it for me (still keeping it under the cut to contain the yapping lol)

One of th few times I saw both routes fully, i usually only go see Thomas' special scenes and illustration but I was pretty curious about this one and I am starting to like him more and more, the scene felt so shooooooorrrrt I wish they had talked more and discussed his finger licking habits 👁👁 the ilustration was very pretty too, i LOVE his expression~ I was a bit sad when we couldnt go to the planetarium :c I hope its a hint for a future episode, maybe an actual date?

Now Jason's route... I am a damn broken CD repeating myself over and over but I really and i mean REALLY dislike Ysaline. She is such a brat and so rude and judgy for no reason.

The whole "uuuuggghh i dont want to have dinner with himmmmm but i gave my woorrrddd but i dont want to be with hiiiimmmm" was so silly cause... dont go? say no? whats he gonna do sue you for hurting his feelings? why are u acting like u have a gun to your head lmao and also why are you acting like spending time alone with him is a torture? the last few times you two spend time together he was sweet and kind, he opened up to you, he helped you and clearly showed you that he DOES like you as a person!! what is there to hate at this point i dont get it, and youre also obviously horny for him get your shit together

And just dipping from his house leaving the dinner there.... I'm sorry that is extremely rude I cant deal with that. The reasoning is, again, so stupid. No, she is not betraying her company because (like Jason says) the rivalry is between him and Devon, Ysaline is not part of the equation she is not even a variable to consider. And no, she is not betraying her "friends" either because she has none! the game is very focused on the route to the point of our MC not making friends, this is not HSL where you got to constantly interact with the cast, raise their LOM, get to know them, etc. Here Ysaline is alone with her LI (and I cant take the argument of "the friendship happens behind the camera" cause thats just lazy af and leaving up to the VIEWER to fill in plot holes, for all I know she could also be addicted to cocaine and thats why she doesnt have money to pay the groceries).

Anyway, her bullshit aside, I actually loved Jason this episode! He is funny, witty, bratty in his charming way, he is so gentlemany, he cooks for her, drives her in his car (sighs like a teenager). I really like his character these past few episodes (it does bother me tho that this ep is SO bland without the special scene :/) and i hope he continues this way !!

Back to bitching- Just to quickly comment on the whole cameo thing: I am not a fan. I dont really mind them per se and I am not bubbling with rage, the cameos are well placed and they make sense and dont feel super out of pocket (amoris is a small city after all) but... I want our own characters, I want our own NPCs to interact with semi-frequently, I looooved the introduction of Devon's brothers and that cap remains my fav up to date (i want to rewatch it on Thomas' route again just to see Tasha and the boys more~). I want more characters that Ysaline can befriend and forge friendships with :c

That's pretty much all, like I said a mid chapter, not bad but not good. Pretty curious about the next one and how Jason will fit there!

Just asking how do you feel about smg34?

Prepare for a long rant lol bc oh boy do I have opinions on this.

I like the ship, don’t get me wrong, but they’re just really god damn boring for me. Not quite as boring as Melony x Axol but still very vanilla.

It’s just a typical enemies to lovers trope which is so overdone now. They aren’t even enemies anymore. Just frenemies. Let’s face it, they’re never going to be canon. Their relationship will forever be teased but I will be VERY surprised if the SMG4 team actually follow through with them. The moments are nice but it’s just fan service.

2023 was an amazing year for SMG34 and it showed a real development in their relationship with IGBP and Wotfi 2023. But honestly, outside of a few teases, I really don’t think we’re going to be getting any concrete development for them for a while.

Without development, they really are just textbook enemies to lovers and that trope just doesn’t interest me on its own. Especially when they’re past the enemies phase but not quite lovers. It feels like they’re just eternally stuck in this weird grey area that only exists for the sake of fan service and I just couldnt care less about that kind of stuff.

Especially when SMG34 fans absolutely loose their shit about them standing next to each other when they’re the two characters who have had the most development out of everyone! Like bro. The SMG4 team are just fucking with you lot and you eat it up every time until it becomes the whole focus of the entire show!

Like, a side character could appear that we haven’t seen in a year and I just see countless people complaining that “ohhh SMG3 wasn’t in this episode!” Or “Ohh why didn’t SMG34 interact!” But if they DO interact then everyone just completely brushes aside the side character to just fawn over the thing that has more content than anything else!

Oh and god forbid you say you ship SMG4 or SMG3 with someone else. This is mostly directed at the TikTok SMG4 community but bloody hell it’s so annoying.

LIKE STFU THIS ISNT ABOUT THEM! I posted a video dedicated to rarepairs bc I love rarepairs and want to bring more attention to them and I got way too many comments about SMG34 when they are by far the most popular ship in the fandom.

And don’t get me started on the Snowtrapped jokes.

The obsession some fans have with that episode just bc SMG3 and SMG4 had sex in it is honestly just irritating at this point. There are so many good episodes about their relationship! To show their development! One joke every so often is fine but for some people it’s every other word out of their mouths and I’m just sick of it.

What if Mar4 shippers just started going:

“Haha Wotfi 2014!” Over and over again. Or some of the other episodes where they are insanely homosexual with one another. Bc I’m telling you, way too many people brush over the Mar4 tension in the earlier episodes.

In conclusion, SMG34 is that ship you start to ship when you first join a fandom bc it’s cute, there lots of content for it, and it makes sense. A lot of people hold onto that first ship but for me, I end up finding dynamics that interest me a lot more. Now, I only really interact with SMG34 content if one of my friends has made it bc I just struggle to get excited about it now.

If ever there’s a moment in an episode that’s cute, instead of enjoying it, all I can think about is how a scene of SMG3 and SMG4 standing next to eachother is going to completely destroy any actual conversation about the episode.

I don’t hate the ship. I do like it. But it’s just so basic.

I’ll take a rarepair over SMG34 any day.

You mentioned in one of the asks that some countries are like a prototype/based of our existing countries, like Germany=Mondstadt, Liyue=China, Inzauma=Japan....

So even though the language is more or less identical for you to make heads and tails in a conversation or writing in a book, the reverse side does not.

Creator!Reader who knows a couple of languages (plus points if they're atleast fluent or have a understanding of it despite not being able to speak said language) and being born from a country that doesnt have the same language as the countries Teyvat based off. Basically Spanish, Italian, Filipino, Scandinavian languages that also have their own way of writing.

Imagine feeling homesick and the only thing that keeps you occupied is the notebook and pen you have while the others converse in a meeting or in a hangout. You started writing in your tongue and re-reading it to relive memories.

Zhongli, AlHaitham, Albedo, Jean, maybe the Berry bros too (Diluc & Kaeya) get curious only to have a double-take and immediately thinks that maybe there is a forgotten land in Teyvat that has this language, I mean Morax stayed faithful to Liyue and Barbatos blessed his country with abundance of supplies and freedom. Teyvat gods and archons played favourites, so why wouldn't you as well? (Bonus: Khaenriah flashbacks) (also I know these arent enough characters but how should I know? I only have a handful of them and I ran out of Primos😭

The people from Akademiya though? I mean they went hard on theorizing and picking apart the language of their creator. Have you seen Matpat's descent to insanity the more FNAF continues to push out LoRe? Thats basically them because Teyvat doesn't have a country based on Creator's birth country. They're grasping nothing but air and dead ends and the only lead they have is you, but couldnt ask because you look so down and they cant bear to see Creator sad....

You list it all, the quintessential: quesadillas, empanadas, tamales, chorizo (you had to combine at least 5 different spices to Mondstadt sausages to get anywhere close to the real thing) the dips obviously, salsa, queso, guacamole, and the easy street tacos, and finally the horchata, but also all the weird fruits Teyvat has with chile, like Sunsettias mixed with Harra from Sumeru or Lavender melons with Wolfhook berries… all surpringly pretty good

(the Sun-Harra combo tastes like mango, a sort of deeper taste of pineapple/kiwi and a sort of light orange taste? all with the nice addition of chile flavors, the Lavender melons and Wolfhooks helped imitate chamoy enough that your heart was satisfied)

…you realize you’ve just been talking about the last meal you had with your family/friends instead of the food after a bit, and Zhongli hasn’t said anything…

you trail off and look back over your shoulder (u were practically about to get your shirt in the imitation guac u were leaning so far over the table to point and talk)

you’re about to sheepishly apologize for taking over the conversation, and ask if he wants to try anything (Zhongli can handle spice so u dont have to worry abt that at least)

but as u finally see his face, u just stop, and dont end up saying anything

He’s just, looking at you.

his smile's not huge, but big enough to make his eyes look happy, and Zhongli’s just… looking at you.

You can’t describe the look he’s giving you, but you suddenly feel… a wave of shyness wash over your heart in your chest, because he’s looking almost like, maybe like, he’s sort of, waiting for you to keep talking, his tan skin warm in the golden rays of the sun beginning to set, you don’t know why you’re noticing any of these things, and he gently, slowly, makes a move to lean into your space a little

almost above your armrest, head inches from your shoulder, he finally moves to stop looking at you-

He looks like a painting as he looks down, his eyelashes almost sitting on his high cheekbones,

you have to move your head to looking at the table too as he moved so close,

you feel your shoulders reflexitively hitch upwards as you brushed the hair on the side of his head as you turned away

He looks around, and then moves his head, not his body, he’s still leaning toward you, to look you right in the eyes again

“Why did you stop? I haven’t said much, I apologize, but it’s only because I wanted to hear you without anything interrupting you.”

You cough a little strained, “Oh! Oh I get it now yeah, thanks-”

“I want to hear you more,” his black eyes begin to warm with gold, you can vaguely see the shape of his diamond pupil revealing itself, “I want to hear about… everything, if you’ll tell me? The language, the food, the drinks, your family, your dances, your country, I want to hear it all. Won’t you please let me hear your voice some more?”

honestly ı am glad sarcastic chorus quit cuz his analyze videos about hb was more complaining on how the New ep oh Helluva didnt go into the direction he wanted rather then actually critisizing the show in his latest videos . it was obvious he didnt enjoy watching season 2 .and he does over analyze things a lot..this show is is comedy mixed drama kind of thing well ıts not really comedy anymore but it still has silly moments..funny gags

and yeah ı agree that hb sometimes has a shtty pacing it makes me so frustrated too (especially S2Episode4) ,though ıts an indie animation and sadly they cant just release the whole season in a week or smth like that like how some shows does.

And in prev episodes we had to wait for like 3 months or more until the next One come in SOMETIMES TWO OR MORE MONTHS ONLY FOR A GIF(full moon episode lmao) 😭 so it makes sense Why the writing is flawed in some ways ..cuz they have to keep the tension so the fans wont get bored waiting the next episode for months ( ı know it relases monthly now but it wasnt like this before).

I actually think that Helluvaboss was never really suited taking a whole season slow character arcs and relationships yeah ı also love shows with more then 4 seasons and at least have 30 minutes episodes or more though ıts not really possible to do that with indie animation ..Helluva only has 4 seasons and SO MUCH to tell in its story YES hb again has flawed writing but ı am just tired Twitter talks about it like ıts the WORST writing in a show .

tbh ı used to not really like Helluva Boss..before season 2 djdjssj.. OKAY OKAY ı'll be honest Lol ı actually couldnt stand watching clips of season 1 whenever ı saw it on YouTube or on other socials well the jokes in season1 didnt make me laugh it was annoying for me ı thought hb was just another shtty show like family guy where the jokes are so gross and cringe .. ( ı still dont really like sum of the seggs jokes in the show but dont really agree that hb is only HAHA CRİNGE UNFUNNY SEGGS jokes !)

Again IF stolas was this heartless evil gay augar daddy to blitz and he somehow started to "fall in love " with blitz and become a good character ..it would be like Jinx or..like other basic toxic yaoi bs where the seme is rich af and he sexually ass*alts the uke where He is only there for seggs and he somehow catches feelings for the uke later on the episodes and oh he is nice now aww look at them they are cute and love eachother now!!..(ew)

So ı dont agree on "it would have been better if they kept stolas the evil mastermind who is this heartless cheater to his wife and an Abuser to blitzø also has some sick obsession with him and sees him nothing more then a seggs toy for his sick twisted fantasies and he somehow starts fall in love with blitz later on the show ..ı think it would have feel so forced and out of character for pilot stolas .

ALSO..some people are forgetting hb was actually going to be a sitcom kind of thing where blitz is this horrible selfish main character who Does messy fcked up shit and has no character depth at all he is One of hell of a Boss(lol) ! he would have been just HAHA FCKED UP HORRIBLE DEMON DOES MESSY SHIT! so ı am so glad viv didnt stick to the pilot for the show's original idea , cuz if she did hb's only purpose would have been to be cringe af and has actually unfunny overly seggs jokes well..gross "dark fcked up humor" like family guy or south park..

honestly ı disagree on stolitz is "softened" for making them more likeable..ı think stolas and blitz are really complex characters and so human ALSO just because stolas is being abused by stella doesnt mean viv decided to write that to make stolas seem all nice and not flawed at all "and he is innocent" thats not true .

if you looked on old insta posts( where the spindle crew used to roleplay as some hb characters) you would see that stella was always meant to be abusive to him ( where stolas takes a photo with pilot stella and it obvious he is bothered by her holding his hand on the table you can also see he put a sad emoji on the post SO NO viv never changed how STELLA was abusive to him in the show ..her character was always like how it is in hb now .

and yeah ı honestly agree on them not really exploring stella's backstory but like not every bad person in shows needs a sad sob backstory to make them a villian though yeah ıts kinda annoying stella didnt even speak to Octavia or tried to manuplate her into making her hate stolas in the Last episode and well she just laughed with Andy .

though if ı recall correctly we will see her backstory in season3?..ı really dunno ,ı really hope they show more flashbacks of stolas's teen-young adult years and well how STELLA was always abusive towards him before even he "cheated on her")

( ı know hb showed us that she was always abusive even before stolas "cheated" on her .. ı mean in S1 episode 1 where she shittalks behind how stolas sucked in bed and she SA'd him but ı just want to see her abusive Side much more then just her laughing at stolas's face yannow?)

Also it is shown in S1E1 that she tried to hit him and he blocked her hand this means she did phsically abuse him before cuz she was in shook when stolas blocked her hand ..so NO... she isnt this misunderstood character who is angry at her husband cuz he cheated on her .

The reason Why she was pissed to stolas on him "cheating " on her was because he cheated on her with a low ranked demon .. an imp .

Again ı wish and WANT Helluva Boss to show more abusive side of stella if they ever show flashbacks of her marriage with stolas when they were young adults .

Also ı want hb to show her manuplative relationship with Octavia MORE (well we do know stella doesn't really care about her and uses her as a tool for andrealphus's plans as it was shown in mastermind episode where stella smirks while hugging to her crying daughter..or not Letting her speak to stolas in sinsmas ep and was happy to seperate her from stolas )

but ..ı want to know more of their dynamic ..like Why Does Octavia cares for her if they are not so close. Does she thinks she has to love her because stella is her mom ?

Well in octavia's drawings when she was a kid shows us that she was more close with her dad since she never included drawing stella on them.also having similar hobbies and interests with stolas..( where they both like stars ..plants..well drawing. Singing to cope with their emotions ..)

..but again ı REALLY want to know Why she said.."you don't love mother" to stolas .Does she even know her parents didnt marry with love and it was actually an arranged marriage Does she thinks her dad ruined everyhting when he cheated on her mom ???

I want to know that

AND WELL ı think stolas didnt even cheat on stella , just like he said "cheating implies a betrayal". these two people were forced into marrying eachother for making an heir together. They NEVER loved eachother . so he CANT betray something that was never there in the first place (love) also him sleeping with blitz was the only "selfish" choice he made in his life..

AND YES stolas and STELLA are both victims to this fcked up goetia system.. BUT that doesnt excuse stella taking her anger out on stolas and abusing him.

lottie woke up to the sound of an alarm going off knowing very well it didnt belong to her. it belonged to the snoring and now slightly grumpy boy wrapped around her. who was tightening his arms around her waist because he didnt want to let go. he turns and puts his alarm on snooze and turns back to the beautiful girl in his sheets mumbling something about how all he needed was just five more minutes. 

“gabe you have to go, youre gonna be late” lottie softly says sleepily.  

gabe huffs and untangles his arms from her waist as he sits up; not before leaning over and giving lottie a kiss on the cheek that never managed to fail and give her butterflies even if it was five AM. lottie watches gabes tall and dark haired figure disappear into the bathroom as her mind begins to wonder off into a realm of wonder. 

lottie knew what she was getting herself into when she met gabe and ultimately decided to get involved with him. hes a hockey player who happens to be a pretty darn good one meaning he was going to be gone on roadies and there was going to be days where he was going to leave for roadies. at days at a time.  

he walks out stuffing something in his bag so he can leave off and save the world; or go play hockey. Its the same thing to lottie. atleast in her imagination. 

“you okay?” he softly says as he sees his girlfriend sitting up on his bed staring at him, in his shirt having a bit of a dazed look on her face. 

“im fine, it just sucks youre leaving again. I feel like you just got back” lottie sighs. 

she was right seeing as they just came back from christmas break last tuesday and it was currently friday morning and he was already leaving. again. 

“i know baby, but i’ll call you everynight and ill be texting you as long as i have my phone” gabe says walking over to her and gently stroking her hair. “we’ll be fine we always are” he mumbles before giving her the sweetest forhead kiss. 

lottie looks up at him with some words hanging off the tip of her tongue but for some reason she just cant voice them. shes not even sure what exactly she wants to say. 

he has his mothers eyes. 

lottie cant help but notice. as she stares into them.  

they get pulled out of their little admiring eachother moment when gabes phone goes off. lottie knows its most likely will or ryan waiting for him downstairs in the car ready to drive to the buses. she knows he has a busy day.  

“ill be out in a moment” gabe says into the phone rushing to get his bag not before giving lottie a swiss kiss “bye babe i love you” he says rushed. 

if lottie wasnt awake two seconds ago she was definitely awake now. they stopped and looked at eachother wide eyed knowing damn well they hadnt said those words to eachother yet. I mean lottie knew she felt them she just didnt know how to voice them. he knew she loved him. right? 

gabe looks at lottie for a moment waiting for her to say them back like any boyfriend who does nothing but support and love her, but lotties mind was anywhere but in the room. at the moment just wanted to crawl up into a little ball and cry because she couldnt help but overthink the fact he probably didnt mean them and it was most likely one of those moments where you accidentally say i love you like when your five and you accidentally call your kindergarten teacher mom. your not his kindergarten teacher lottie, your his girlfriend. 

she decided to do what she does best and acted ditzy.    

“good luck!!” she said, patting his chest with a smile that looked eerily ill. 

gabe was taken aback. a little because the first time he wanted to tell lottie he loved her, he wanted to make it special. he couldnt believe he did it just like that 10 seconds before he had to be out the door. but mostly due to the fact lottie looked like a deer in headlights. 

does she not love me? was it too soon? is there someone else? gabe couldnt help but think. 

he stared at charlotte for a moment before nodding to himself in what lottie couldnt tell was disappointment or anger? walking out the door. 

he had to know lottie has always loved him since the very first day. right?!? that she'll be waiting for him when he gets back, right? 

lotties mind was going about one hundred miles per hour. 

meanwhile, gabe couldnt wrap his head around what just happened.

“gabe-o you good buddy?” ryan ask, seeing as gabe got into the car looking like he was about to break into a million pieces. 

“yeah ill be fine” he said while irrationally muting lotties messages of her telling gabe to call her. he puts on his beats quickly after that signifying he didnt want the conversation to go any further.

ryan and will give eachother a look before taking off and ultimately deciding to let it go knowing gabe would probably just temm them later.

meanwhile lottie was sitting on gabes bed wondering what the hell is wrong with her. gabe is what anyone would want in a man. hes a gentlemen he treats her as if she was a princess and hearing those words wanted to make her scream and kick her feet. yet when the time came she stared at him. he probably felt like crap and that was not what he needed going into a weekend of gamedays. she felt horrible seeing as he was leaving her on delivered or just read. 

part of her knew she deserved it and she just wanted to desperately tell him how shes loved him from the very first day and she just hoped he didnt go off and do something irrational,  because he had to know lottie was going to be here when he got back, waiting for him right?

If you could assign one song to each of your ocs to describe them, what would it be and how does it fit them? Ooh and also what's ur favorite little thing about them that may or may not have any importance?

Ok so for The Vampire, the blond one, pre being turned 4 sure (or growing pains)->

They have this HUGE admiration and idealized idea of themself and their partner from the past. EvenIN the past, they had this super twisted version of their partener in their eyes, not ignoring bad things but those things being clear from the beginning, but a part of why they wanted to be theirs. They were very naiive and throughouy their relationship right up to the turning still believed them to be perfect. They could watch their partener do bad things to ppl and come back and straight up tell them and only see them as good. Its just them!

And The Lover is def->

This is a representation of their need for the hunt, to have a prey. To have their prey(The vampire). They originally see The Vampire as this pure thing that they have the urge, they tried to surpress it, but they couldnt. They still took their life and turned them. And they take pride in it, and they realize how sick that is. They dont want to see them anymore but they will because they have to, it makes them feel powerful. This is their karma for it, they knew as soon as they saw The Vampire, and decided to interact with them itd end up damning them.

And then them together is->

The Vampire was a bit of a lonesome child and teen, they were always interested in the morbid (hence their love and admiration for the lover). The Lover played on this, with their vampirism(tho the vamp. Didnt knwo ab this yet) they always had all of these gross/disturbing imaging + actions around. And now, post turning, the Lover still comes around and plays with them. Almost teaches them how to be, like before. I made a drawing based off this lol. The drinking of the alligator blood is more of a metaphor for how the lover literally forced them to become this monster, to grow up tough and a survivor, to drink blood. Yet still loves the side of them that is how they were before all of it. The Vampire got what they wanted but it went wrong, it got too much, it killed them.

And then this i chose specifically because of their idealized version of their partener. They grew up in a not so good and complicated relationship with their family, they are trying to hold out hope that these are better days now that theyve escaped them with their new amazing and cool partener. Theyre unknowing being lulled with their charms. They have always struggled with perception issues, but after being turned it went for the worst. They completely cant remember anything but hazy-scary thihgs, and super clear good things (even tho one vastly outnumbers the other). They make up this story of how they actually were w their lover and how they fell in love, when really it was much creepier and bad. And once on the road as a bounty hunter, they meet new lovers and try to input their ideal lover from the past onto them. They spend eternity comign up with everything about their lover.

Okk, and so my fav things, that are mainly just surface level. For one, my oc has a super sick bat revolver and snake lasso. Their fvaourite is knives though, with anything. They looovveee knives. I like love them both sooo much like. Theyre so bad for eachother and evil but theyre epic and awesome too. The evilness and sickness of their relationship is part of the apeal. Also the vampirism in this is NOT out of desire or love. It is used as control. Thats the metaphor NOT love. Lets be clear!!! The Lover NEEDS the control over them. In their shared obsession they have both lost themselves.
