Rewatched Princess and the Frog today and honestly it feels more like a celebration of Disney's 100 years than Wish. A classic fairy tale respun in interesting ways while still being undeniably Disney? Check. A traditional story with modern twists and a (narratively) strong female protagonist? Check. A return to 2D animation in a time when the medium was dying out? Check. Hell, it even takes place in the same time period (1920s) that Walt Disney released the first animated feature film and started a hundred years of magic. There are multiple references to older Disney movies, from classics like Pinocchio and Sword in the Stone to (then) recent films like Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. It features the fucking wishing star! In a more narratively sound manner than Disney's actual 100th year celebration!
And even beyond that, Princess and the Frog feels like it pays tribute to the magic of magic - the power of believing in stories, of having a dream, of working hard to reach your happy ending while never losing sight of what's really important. There is so much effort put into this movie and it shows: the animation is gorgeous, the story is creative and structurally sound, and behind the scenes reveals that the producers put their backs into making sure both the African American aspect and the New Orleans cultural aspect were accurately depicted. It was the first Disney movie in over a decade to return to the Broadway musical format, and they literally had to dust off the abandoned 2D art tools because the company hadn't used them since 2004.
Princess and the Frog was a labor of love through and through, a heartfelt tip of the hat to Disney's legacy while still being its own story. I don't know what could be more celebratory of Walt Disney's dream than that.

Thoughts on/during Mochi Mayhem? I'm curious. Especially towards the... memetic dance scene(s).
I LOVED IT!!!!
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet really put me in the "I wanna be a kid doing stupid dumb goofy things with my friends" vibes and Mochi Mayhem really delivered! everyone coming over to the player's house and hanging out at the start and the whole finding the remote mini quest at the community center really got to me. We're just a couple of kids doing kid things!!
Also the fact that Arven says Clicker like an old man means so much to me. We really are siblings.
SPEAKING OF ARVEN
He knocked it out of the PARK during Mochi Mayhem being just??? So funny??? Like, he's so pushy about being the player's one and only Best Friend
And he's so agro at Kieran over it to the point of ending the epilogue apologizing for it... But Kieran didn't even notice because he's so use to his sister being agro at him like that???
Also the fact that he has just enough control while mind controlled by Pecharunt to be embarrassed by the stupid dance dskgjdfjgjdfh Hysterical
There's a lot of other really silly moments that got to me very personally, like how much everyone calls out Nemona for being entirely too much, or just the implication that the three of them were hanging out without me, implying they've all become friends as well really gets to me
I don't like the paid DLC direction Nintendo is going in, but this is the best Pokemon Game post DS Era in my opinion, even if with the DLC it's more than double the price of a DS era Pokemon game with about the same amount of content...
But yeah! I really liked the Epilogue! I had a great time, I loved seeing everyone getting to have a fun time and being silly, I ADORE Pecharunt to no end, and am super happy to have Kieran back in the club room finally!

one thing about me is that i will always, always be mad about trilobites being dead.
like, come on. you’re telling me they lived for about 270 MILLION years (the dinosaurs were on earth for approximately 165 million years, btw), they showed up early on in the fucking CAMBRIAN (~521 million years ago), and managed to diversify into approx. 25,000 identified species, they managed to survive 2 (TWO!!) mass extinctions and they just fucking. died at the end of the Permian???? like what the fuck?????? they should be kicking around today!! i should be able to own some in a fish tank!!
their closest living relative is the horseshoe crab, which looks INCREDIBLY similar to them, and they’re so well evolved to survive that they’re known as ‘living fossils’ (they’ve been virtually unchanged for 445 million years, most notably the same for the past 200 million), THATS how effective that body structure is!!
just to give you perspective, they evolved before jaws, before bones were even a THING, before PLANTS, before FISH!! and they lived until the fucking DUNK was an apex predator!! and they were around so much that they are used as index fossils because they are some of the OLDEST FOSSILS WE HAVE. and there are so many of them that scientists don’t even know what to do with them! you can buy them from any store that has cool rocks for like, 10 bucks!!
i am forever going to be pissed off about it because what the FUCK!!!!
