Fatphobia is so popular and normalized that you don't even need to watch fatphobic shit for YouTube to recommend it to you.
Making fatphobic shit is also so lucrative that you can get 500,000 views on a less than two minute video made by AI, meaning that you didn't even have to do the work yourself. All you have to do to get half a million views is put a picture of a fat person as the thumbnail and make the most unoriginal garbage pile of a pun that you can think of to slap on the video as a title.
And you want to know why?
You want to know why everyone and their mother loves to freely harass fat people? You want to know why this makes half a million views on a video that doesn't even meet the two minute mark?
It's because fat people are one of the only oppressed groups left who you can abuse and oppress with zero backlash. We aren't protected by anti-discrimination laws. There's a single organization that gives a damn about our oppression, and it's not even a powerful or well-known organization to people outside of the very small community of fat liberationists. You won't even be shamed on social media beyond a tiny percentage of accounts like this blog. I can't begin to describe how many fatphobic bigots I have dealt with over the years who were people who claimed to be "progressive" and said they supported equality. So many fatphobes I have dealt with had pride flag icons and argued to me that fat people aren't oppressed because "[insert whatever other group here the fatphobe was using this time] has it worse!" Fat people have even been thrown out of the body positivity movement that WE. STARTED.
So if I can't even rely on "progressive" people who give a shit about everyone else to give a shit about me? People who claim to care about equality and all of my other oppressed identities but treat me like the dirt underneath their feet as soon I'm not "fuckable" to them? You can see pretty fucking clearly how this world has a strangling hold on fat people and refuses to let go of their last punching bag that has zero consequences for pummeling into the ground.
The world knows that you will endure consequences (legal, financial, and/or social) for being bigoted against any oppressed group with a mainstream activism movement, so that's why conservatives and progressives alike wipe their brow in relief that there's at least one group they know is okay to harm as much as they want without having to worry of backlash.
And for the people who never developed their reading comprehension skills, no where did I say that other oppressed groups don't have it bad. No where did I say that other oppressed groups aren't still harmed today. Stop it with your bad faith takes and attempts to make this another "piss on the poor."
There's a major difference between what I endure as a fat person and what I endure for my plethora of other oppressed identities. If you discriminate against me for being gay, there's anti-discrimination laws and policies. There's financial losses to your business by the people who will boycott you. There's loss of reputation. There's loss of relationships, social status, and trust. People have even lost their jobs for being homophobic. It's not perfect, but it's far from lacking consequences.
But when I'm discriminated against for being fat? All those people who supposedly cared about me for being gay are not only silent when I'm discriminated against for my fatness, they often actively support the fatphobia I faced.
That is the fucking difference.

YOUTUBE EXODUS MASTERPOST
fuck youtube and fuck their anti-ad blocker policy. aside from advertisements being a capitalist nuisance where we are the actual product being sold, ads which contain flashing lights or otherwise triggering material can and do harm people, and youtube's decision to ban ad blockers will impact these folks the most. here I'm gonna talk about what I use to mitigate this bullshit!!!
DESKTOP - FREETUBE
Ublock and Youtube are basically in an arms race right now, and the instability and inconsistency of FF working with ad blockers isn't great. Today, I can't watch anything on desktop, it's totally blocked for me as long as I'm logged into my account.
I would recommend switching to Freetube, which is a client for youtube that runs on your computer, ad-free. You're able to import your subscriptions and search history, and a proper playlist function is in the works.
In order to export this stuff for Freetube, you'll need to log in to youtube and click on your icon. In the list that pops up, click "In order to export this stuff for Freetube, you'll need to log in to youtube and click on your icon. In the list that pops up, click "Your data in Youtube".
From here, click on "Download Youtube data" on the dashboard card. You might have to click "see more" for this option.
This is where we get particular. First, hit the button that says "All youtube data included"
In the list that pops up, deselect everything except for history, subscriptions, and playlists. Then click okay, which will return you to that ^ page above. You then need to click "multiple formats", scroll down to history, and change the format to JSON.
Once you've done that, you can click "next step" and decide if you'd like for the data to be emailed to you or put in your dropbox or whatever. all the files will be in a .zip folder, so extract them somewhere convenient, and if you plan on using Newpipe for your mobile device, KEEP THAT .ZIP FILE!
Once you've installed Freetube, go to settings -> data settings and import your subs. the file for this will be nested in a folder named "subscriptions" in the .zip file you extracted. Do the same thing with importing your history, but make sure to select the file that's named watch_history. importing playlists is not yet a feature for freetube, but I recommend downloading yours anyway.
From there, you're free to watch desktop Youtube, addless as God intended.
MOBILE - NEWPIPE
I've used newpipe for years now, and it's a game changer. You can download as audio or video files, play in the background with your phone locked, and still have your subs and playlists. it's lightweight and has a great UI.
The great thing about importing your subs and other info to Newpipe is that it's less fiddly. Go to your subs, and then tap the three dots in the right upper corner. Then tap import from, and select Youtube. Select the .zip file from earlier (you saved it, right?) and it should import all your stuff. If this doesn't work, Newpipe provides instructions on alternative ways to import your subs/playlists/etc on-screen.
Don't subject yourself to advertisements. You deserve better. Get Freetube, Get Newpipe, and if other people have suggestions, feel free to add it to this post!

To the anon asking if there were other boyfriend ASMR/audio roleplay channels with plots at least on par with Redacted, you're in luck! I mostly listen to plot-driven stuff so here's my recommendations.
Good Boy Audios: He has multiple series, all of them take place in the same universe but in different settings. His romance is a lot more slower burn than something like Redacted but that's fine, because I like slow burn and the plots keep me hooked. I recommend Bastard Warrior and Space Pirate Saga.
Escaped Audios: Super cinematic channel with a very strong focus on storytelling. He has a good balance between adventure and romance, and his playlists perfectly blend the two in almost every series. All of of his series feel like living through a movie. I recommend The Neon Barbarian/Neon Wings if you like bittersweet romance/angst, and The New Jersey Rats if you prefer a more light-hearted romantic adventure.
ZSakuVA: Priest already mentioned him but he's great. He has tons of characters who each have their own playlist. Some of his characters occupy the same universe and share the same story, kind of like what Redacted does. I recommend listening to his Elias (mafia son) and Issac (boss) playlists back to back, they complete eachother's stories and I love the boyfriend stuff.
Desmond ASMR: He uploads on a really slow schedule but all of his videos are super long and well made, almost movie length sometimes. I love his voice and his characters, and there's always an element of adventure in his work. I recommend his arranged marriage series and his gladiator series.
Siren's Son: He's kind of like Redacted in that a lot of his work takes place in a shared universe and there's a mix of both plot-driven arcs as well as fluff/comfort/boyfriend roleplay arcs scattered throughout. His Westhaven series is one of my comfort series that I re-listen to over and over. Also, honorable mention to Obsidian Lantern. Siren's Son and him collab together on a series called Gator Boys set in SS's universe and it's great.
Scythe Audio: A super exciting channel. He has romance/boyfriend roleplay but he's more of a story and action focused channel (we love him for it). I love his fucked up monstrous and villainous characters. I've been obsessed with his V/Villain Saga for like two years now and it just keeps getting better. I also recommend his Werewolf action/horror series, The Alpha Claw Saga.
Nomad's Tales: He's been around a long time and has a huge body of work with really entertaining series. He's just now starting season two of his series Frosthaven so it's the perfect time to catch up! I also like his Yandere Knight playlist and A Theif's Tale (a modern romance/thriller).
Those are the best story driven boyfriend ASMR/audio roleplay channels I know of. If anyone has more recommendations I'd love to hear them.
- 🖤 Blackheart anon
.
(usually don't respond to confessions and whatnot, but i will say that you should probably NOT support Siren's Son. He has made it very clear that he is anti-choice/pro-forced birth/anti-abortion/pro-life whatever you wanna call it. I wouldn't be giving youtube revenue money to someone that thinks half the human population doesn't deserve or have a right to bodily autonomy)
Receipts below the cut.

hi rae! do you have any articles/resources on like. why tiktok sucks. because i had a conversation with a friend earlier today about this very subject and i want to show her some information (plus youre like the tumblr smart person so i thought you might have something)
tumblr smart person....love that for me lmao
i don't have a ton of like. articles that are specifically like "here is why tiktok is bad" bc most of my anti-tiktok critique is coming from the synthesis of various ideas about capitalism, art, surveillance, identity, media + control. like -- i don't think tiktok is the root of most of these issues, it's more that i think it's a petri dish for the rapid growth of the already-existing virus of capitalism. so this might feel a little disjointed but here is like. a web of various articles/essays/writing that has ideas which connect back to why i dislike tiktok
capitalist realism, by mark fisher - i think this text provides essential background on the ways in which capitalism has become so ingrained; if you don't wanna read the whole book then at least read ch 2, which talks a lot about the role of media + is particularly relevant when thinking about social media platforms like tiktok
social media is not self-expression, by rob horning - also start here for a perfect explanation of the ways in which social media encourages us to police our own identities as if we ourselves are consumer products
the anxiety of influencers, by barrett swanson - this is my rec that deals most specifically with tiktok and is just. such a great synthesis of the way the app is spreading the poison of a consumer economy such that the boundaries between consumer/product are broken down and we are all becoming consumers-as-products
personal style is dead and the algorithm killed it, by charlie squire - a really excellent essay that also gets into the way that consumerism + algorithms are like....eroding our sense of art + identity
cj the x's youtube channel - really fantastic video essays about art + media consumption in the modern age which make me reflect on the ways tiktok promotes engagement with art as a product rather than art. in particular i recommend 7 deadly art sins and the kronk effect
west elm caleb and the feminist panopticon, by rayne fisher-quann - another excellent essay that gets into the ways apps like tiktok can like....create this online surveillance state where we're all being encouraged to police each other
against character vapor, by brandon taylor - an essay that gets into how modern anxiety over embodiment + the sense that everything is now a performance thanks to social media influences our literature/art
keep it in the group chat: fanfiction and influencer culture, from into the fic of it - podcast episode where they discuss a lot of these issues with art + consumer culture specifically in the context of fanfic
objects of despair: mirrors, by meghan o'gieblyn - another article that touches on social media + identity formation
every "chronically online" conversation is the same, by rebecca jennings - discusses an issue that is not unique to tiktok but is exacerbated by tiktok
and if u wanna read some of my own more organized thoughts about tiktok, i have 2 essays on substack. one is you are what you eat: identity as consumption and what went wrong with jegulus, which ignoring all the jegulus stuff just contains like. a synthesis of how i think tiktok/algorithmic social media promotes a fucked-up method of identity-formation. and then i also have why does tiktok hate masculine lesbians? which is less about tiktok itself and more just an example of one issue that has festered on the site thanks to lack of critical thought + discussion -- both of which are literally impeded by the way tiktok is set up.
here is like. TikTok Thesis from my jegulus essay:
right now, in our current historical moment, almost all social media is being slowly (or not-so-slowly) swallowed by the vast and yawning chasm of the Algorithm. that’s because the Algorithm is good for capitalism. the Algorithm breaks down the boundaries between content and consumer, streamlining the system so that everyone is consuming each other all at once. we, the social media users, are consumers consuming the content of social media. at the same time, social media is consuming the content of our data. that data is then consumed by advertisers, who use it to sell us more content. we are thus increasingly stuck in a never-ending cycle of consumption, held captive by algorithms that soothe our anxieties by offering us tiny, consistent dopamine hits while working to break down our attention spans and our capacities for critical thought so that they can keep us trapped in echo chambers of endless consumptive entertainment.
and then there are of course all the rantings and ravings i post here on my blog lol!
anyway, a lot of what i've collected here is a little more philosophical and focused around identity + consumerism + art, but i'm sure there are also plenty of people out there making additional points about the way tiktok is horrible for privacy, how it's harvesting all our data, and how it's designed to be addictive + keep you scrolling + is in the process deteriorating your attention span. these are all issues that, again, are not unique to tiktok, but are grossly exacerbated by tiktok. especially bc the rapid growth of tiktok as a successful social media during the pandemic has made it like....this epicenter of pop culture such that
a) other social media apps are now trying to copy tiktok's model and become more like it
b) almost all commercial art is now influenced by tiktok to some extent. books, music, etc -- if u want people to invest in something, it needs to go viral on tiktok!
the consumerism of capitalism is the cancer and tiktok is the malignant tumor growing at an unprecedented + life-threatening rate <3
#ask#ranting and raving#book recs#kinda....really only one book in this post but tagging it anyway lol

Sinophobes are a fun batch of people because they will write shit like this and completely mean it. 🤣
They always refer to the Red Guard and the evil CCP and how badly it destroyed Chinese culture and tradition, but they never want to address the fact that there’s a historical domino effect for why China rejected tradition for a bit (if you get stomped on by colonizers for a lengthy period of time, you’re naturally going to feel like you didn’t modernize fast enough to fight back against said colonizers).
These sinophobes also never want to address the fact that so much of Chinese tradition and culture is actually alive and well in China! It still exists—meaning you can literally fucking wear a hanfu on the street or eat some traditional food or go to a fucking museum or read a traditional poem or look at some traditional art. And what even is the Chinese tradition and culture they’re referring to, anyway?
China is so big and diverse with such a long history, are you going to say the other ethnicities don’t count as part of China’s cultural identity? Like on China destroying culture, does that mean the Qing dynasty doesn’t count as Chinese because it had Manchu leaders and influence? Are we really going to act like Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia can encapsulate all of China’s complex history and culture when a) it is so complex and b) they have their own fucking cultures and histories???
Like I’m pretty sure if you told a Taiwanese person or a Thai person that the place they’re from is an embodiment of China, they’d be pissed off at you.
Even with how contentious Taiwan is, whether you’re pro- or anti-China, you’re not going to bring up the history of Qinshihuang and the terracotta warriors or the Great Wall etc as being part of Taiwanese history. So why would you expect to find the major aspects of Chinese culture and tradition in Taiwan? Especially when I thought we were supposed to see Taiwan as its own thing!!!
Comments like this one just fascinate me because they’re obviously wrong, yet they’re so happy being wrong since they come from this stubborn prejudice that doesn’t fucking care that China actually does still have its historical traditions and cultures and that they’re actually pretty decently intact for a nation with a history as long and as chaotic as China’s. But this comment fascinates me all the more because it feels like they went so anti-China they got confused by their own messaging, because why does it sound like you don’t see Taiwan and Singapore and even Thailand and Malaysia as having their own unique identities and cultures? 😂
This is also why bad faith comments like this become amusing after a while:
People like this don’t believe that there can be anything good about China. They pretend to be all civil and tell you to “just focus on the good of China,” but they don’t mean it lmao. Because as soon as you post something about China that is positive, such as praising its greener energy efforts or its high speed rail or what have you, these people will tell you it’s fake or ask, “But at what cost?”
It’s just ironic, and in multiple ways.
It’s not okay to run accounts and channels hating on the US but it’s okay running accounts and channels hating on China like China Uncensored or that one David Zhang guy who I swear to fucking God I wish YouTube would stop recommending to me when I search up “China vlog”—?
But most of all, it’s ironic because Chinese people can and do “sell the beauty of China,” but sinophobes have their ears and eyes closed to shit like that. What can you do, am I right? ;P
Which is why more and more Chinese people are becoming pro-China, and then sinophobes wonder why Chinese people are so brainwashed.
It was literally just a few weeks ago that someone praised a video on Chongqing because it showed the city in a more mundane light rather than painting it as a cyberpunk city, and when people disagreed with them, they said this:
The answer to their last question is obviously “the sinophobia here stems from you immediately doubting anything positive about China as propaganda and then assuming anyone who disagrees with you is a CCP shill while also insisting that China itself must be a dystopia in reality” (also, Chongqing went viral because of tourists on TikTok, and no, you can bet they weren’t paid by the Chinese government, so how exactly is it propaganda again?).
People like this wonder why there are so many “CCP shills” out there to the point they feel the need to call them the “CCP Junior Kids’ League” without realizing they’re contributing to the creation of these “CCP Junior Kids’ League” members.
Because oh, I don’t know, buddy—maybe antagonizing an entire nation doesn’t always endear you to that nation’s citizens?? I know I for one became more pro-China after being surrounded by sinophobia online, and I’m a Canadian-born Chinese who never even really felt Chinese growing up.
And the funny thing about sinophobia is that it’s just this quiet, increasingly acceptable aspect of western society. It’s not a hate that’s outwardly violent or brutal, so it’s not as big of a deal. It’s almost mundane and banal. That’s why I always feel weird discussing it, like I should be putting disclaimers everywhere that emphasize I’m western, I’m educated, I’m critical of nationalism and patriotism, because if I didn’t, I’d just be another “member of the CCP Junior Kids’ League.”
And now I feel guilty discussing it because sinophobia can’t be easily compared to other forms of racism that manifest in far more brutal ways, especially in this current day when Israel is committing literal genocide with such cruel, fully dehumanizing, hate-filled, racist roots.
But whenever I do discuss sinophobia, it’s stuff that’s built up over weeks and weeks and weeks. I do curate my spaces and I do ignore prejudice when I have to (eg I learned the hard way to NEVER search up “中国🇨🇳” on Twitter because you will get a lot of racism against China from Japanese users). It’s only when it gets to a point that I’m exasperated and rolling my eyes that I vent on Tumblr.
I will admit though that the more time passes and the more sinophobia becomes normalized, the more my exasperation also turns into mild amusement. They hate China so much, man. They will literally never change their minds. They will always be this ignorant. Isn’t that wild? 😂
And although, when I do think deeper about it, I do admit I think it’s a pity that people can walk the streets and think of what are essentially my people (ancestrally speaking, anyway) in such a degrading, delusional fashion and be so wrong about China, yet it’s just a fact of life. It’s pretty normalized and not something that will likely be challenged because it’s “not wrong morally” to hate on China as long as you emphasize “I hate the government.” So I can only be exasperatedly amused by their ignorance.

Speaking of targ/dany fans being crazy their currentely harassing a chinese author (xiran jay zhao) who met grrm for committing the heinous crime of loving dany but being anti monarchy??
Oh I have seen that, I love Xiran as an author and when they were still uploading videos on YouTube I always had a blast (I still rewatch the historical ones, it's a great easy access gateway for anyone who wants to start learning about Chinese historical figures, highly recommend). It's especially weird because even beyond the fact that Xiran never said anything particularly outrageous, it's like they said in one of their Tweets about it: they're the one who was talking to GRRM about these characters and their preference for the story, not randos on Twitter. And again: all Xiran said was that they liked Dany but didn't want her on the throne! That's a fair thing to say! I like Dany but I don't necessarily want her on the throne, because I find Robert's Rebellion and the overthrow of the Targaryens entirely just and righteous and would be disappointed if it got overturned. It'd be one thing to say that Xiran's statement was a bit of a copout given that, at least so far, it doesn't look as if GRRM is gearing up towards dismantling monarchy as a whole by the end of the series (to me, I'm not an ASOIAF theorist so maybe I'm just missing stuff), or that maybe Xiran might wanna rethink reading fantasy since it tends to include monarchies a lot (where's that post about fictional monarchies being interesting because of the impact fucked up families have on fictional geopolitics even tho real monarchies are boring and stupid), which would still be kinda dumb and condescending responses, but this is just ridiculous. Anyone's allowed to have any opinion they want about fictional characters and their rights to fictional chairs, it's insane to get pissy that someone doesn't like your fave just because they happen to be your fave.
It's annoying because again, I like Dany, I like a lot of Targs, I'm not joking when I say shit like "i should be allowed to make the conquest show" I say that because I legit really love these characters and wish I were in the position to be able to craft story around them as well given my fascination for the world around them as well as their own dynamics. But the broader Dany/Targaryen fandom is just so fucking ludicrous. Part of it is part of a larger trend I've noted previously in response to some anons, that fandom has really honed in on this idea that it's not enough to just like something, you need to be in the moral right for liking it, and thus people who don't like it need to be in the moral wrong for being opposed to you and the thing you like. It's fandom as morality and ethics that's really corrupted nearly all fandom spaces as a whole, like that criticism you get about how if you like X fictional character than you must also support the bad actions X fictional characters in your real life. And being in the ASOIAF fandom you really see a lot of that, especially with HOTD providing the first new material the fandom has gotten in a long time, and it's turned a lot of y'all into crazy people.
#personal#answered#anonymous#xiran seems so cool and their outfits always slay could not imagine pitching a fit at them on twitter about a book#like are y'all just jealous that they met grrm and hung out with him and that you didn't? is that it?#you feel you deserve that more rando twitter user?#and don't even get me started on how this fandom as morality thing turns a LOT of targ stans into lowkey fictional neonazis#like i'm sorry but if you start talking to me about blood purity with any kind of sincerity beyond just analysis of the targs#as part of a broader fiction#like legit calling alicent's children 'halfbreeds' or 'not really targaryens'#you're a ginormous fucking freak and should remove yourself from society#again as someone who also likes these characters but is normal it's so irritating

Inspired by @josilverdragon!
Here's the top five songs I've been listening to this week (I use Youtube Music) and a couple of sentences of what I think about them. I've added screenshots of what the song card is in YT Music with the link to the YT video, in case someone doesn't have YTM.
Tagging: @flashhwing @heart809 @dismalzelenka @luddlestons @barbex and anyone who wants to share! Tag me back, I wanna see what you're listening to!
1) "Blood // Water" by grandson
This has been my most repeated song this week. With everything going on in the world over the last, uh, forever, scream-singing it in my car has been rather therapeutic. I've even added it to my karaoke repertoire for when I'm in A Mood and feeling kinda crunchy about it all. I put it on when I'm angry with the world and daydreaming about a hypothetical world revolution.
2) "Feed The Machine" by Poor Man's Poison
More of the same. It's got very bourgeoisie vs. proletariat, anti-capitalist overlords, and anti-ologarchy vibes going on, and it speaks to my rage at the system I find myself living in. Plus, it's just a bop! It always gets stuck in my head, and it's just fun, kinda. I like the band's sound and overall vibe; everything I've listened to by them has been really great.
3) "Welcome to the Internet" by Bo Burnham
So I absolutely love this song. I absolutely love this whole special, both the film and the album. I wasn't a Burnham fan before this, though I was familiar with his music/comedy and was fond of a couple of songs, but INSIDE squished my brain inside out (ha) and turned me into jello. It's one of, if not THE best musicomedy or comedy specials in my heart. Plus, The Internet/the assembled websites as a villain/s is just such a fun thing to think about, and it's inspired me to work on crafting a drag number with an unfortunately elaborate costume with 3D printed custom retractable claws.
4) "Murder at the Bingo Hall" by Amigo the Devil [live video]
This absolutely fucks. The frenetic guitar, the kinda manic-touched quality of his voice as he's singing, the rather absurd and simple scene for such an energetic song to be written about - it all comes together into something insanely memorable. This video of his live performance really highlights all that for me, too. It's a super fun song, and it makes it very easy to get into his music. The drive of the guitar and his slapping accompaniment is pretty common throughout his music, and the imagery here is very descriptive without being overly heavy, which I feel is one of his great strengths throughout each song. Highly recommend!
5) "Primo Victoria" by Sabaton
This is just a big "fuck you" to Nazis everywhere. Written about Operation Overload and D-Day/the storming of the beaches in 1944, it's super metal and just gets my blood racing. My steering wheel and dashboard have each taken such beatings from my not-so-air drumming! It always makes me amped up whenever I have it on. This past week had it in especially heavy rotation. It's the first track on my "No Nazis in Valhalla" playlist. Fun fact: the a capella band Van Canto made a kickass drums-and-vocals (almost a capella) cover of this song, and the singer of Sabaton, Joakim Brodén, sang the lead on this! It's stripped down by nature of the musical approach but is no less awesome!
Honorary Mentions:
6) "Automatonic Electronic Harmonics" by Steam Powered Giraffe
Who doesn't love steam-punky bands? Who doesn't love androids and automatons? I love them so much! SPG is a fictional band of automatons built by a robotics engineer/scientist in attempt to win the heart of his love interest, a fellow scientist. He was unsuccessful, and he continued his research while feuding with a social and professional rival who had also been wooing his crush, and ultimately they went to war. After a long existence as weapons and soldiers, the band has since returned to their roots in entertainment as comedians, actors, and musicians.
IRL, SPG is known musically for their harmonies. A couple of their songs are less smooth in that regard but on the whole, their harmonies really show off how much of an influence and inspiration The Bee Gees have been to them as a band. Those harmonies get really elegant, emotional, and tight!
7) "The Fine Print | The Outer Worlds Song" by The Stupendium
I'm a sucker for a pop-culture song, and though I haven't played The Outer Worlds, this definitely scratches that itch and has put the game on my wish list for when I get rich. But like, it's directly attacking capitalism and its predatory exploitation of the working class and even poorer people in order to further capital gains. Again, I'm not familiar with the game, but as far as I understand it, its premise is built around a work colony that people go to and then are effectively indentured to the company. The song has made me really eager to see how it's viewed in-game and what the common views are of the power dynamics there.
Some banger lines:
* "You've been trapped in that ship for an awful long time, so perhaps you have simply forgot what you signed. Oh, honestly, did you not read the colony policy that defines you as company property? That waivers your say in autonomy? The conglomerate's got you in lock and key! We put the "dollar" back into "idolatry." If you're upset, you can rent an apology. We are a family forged in bureaucracy. No 'I' in 'team', but there's 'con' in 'economy.'"
* "We work to earn the right to work to earn the right to work to earn the right to work to earn the right to work to earn the right to give ourselves the right to buy ourselves the right to live, to earn the right to die"

Sometimes YouTube likes to recommend me bizarre videos from sinister, vaguely named, right wing political think tanks.
“Why CO2 is Good, Actually.”
“The Benefits of Brexit.”
With the same old arrogant, sneering smiles and condescending attitude.
The smile of a bloodthirsty, diseased, stupid creature.
A spiteful, vulgar creature of greed, nihilism and bloodlust.
One what wears a kind face and a smile to hide the ugly truth underneath. Their True Self long hidden. (No thanks to PR and image management)
Their long dead, flint-coated, shite-encrusted, filthy, blackened husk of a soul!
One who without any doubt would slaughter their own children and their descendants of it meant they’d make money from it.
A stupid, wilfully ignorant, hate-filled, narrow-minded, syphilitic philistine IDIOT of a creature what can’t abide the idea that it might or would be wrong. Even about the most trivial of things.
At the very least!
Promoting their vulgar, idiotic, anti-intellectual worldview.
Burning down the world and throwing away their grandchildren’s chance of a better future for a few pennies.
All out of sheer fucking SPITE!
Yeah.
No thank you!
Stupid fucking arsonists!
Begone!

(doing a poll so you can give me an answer without interacting non-anonymously. lurkers i luv u)
quick overview: me & my gf are in a long distance relationship and we're watching different youtube vids on a discord call every day.
last vid we watched was actually a remix of a song we both liked. she also liked the remix and said so, and i disliked it and said (with a positive tone) "well its good that one of us liked it!"
her: "you didn't have to say it like that. you could've kept quiet"
me: "but- how would you prefer me say it? 'i didn't really like it', like that?"
her: "you didn't have to say anything at all"
me: "but i sent you music i liked some time in the past and you openly said you didn't like it?"
her: "but you were asking for my opinion by sending it to me. i didn't ask you to comment on this video"
me: "so... why do we even watch anything together if not for hearing opinions?"
her: "just 'cause?"
this might be me being anti-social or neurodivergent in some way or whatever, but i don't understand this interaction.
the thing i commented on negatively (it literally wasn't even that negative, i tried to turn it into a positive thing, but okay) wasn't something she made or had personal investment in. if she showed me her art, for example, and i didn't like it, i wouldn't say anything bad unless given permission to. or if the maker of that remix was with us in the room/call, i would just say it's nicely done.
when our opinions are the same (even if negative), it's perfectly okay to say it outloud, but this time they were different, and i was basically told to not say anything negative? like i get that hearing that something you liked your partner didn't like, because i've been there before with her, once again with music; i've been really upset actually, but those are MY feelings, not hers, and i value all of her opinions. i've worked on myself so i don't get upset when someone insults my passions, which is what i think is healthy and i recommend this to everyone. and in this situation, i think my opinion was really devalued. once again, i get being upset... but i honestly wouldn't have the strength to tell my loved one to not say her opinion if it's negative
and this point is a repeat of what i asked her: why watch anything together if not for sharing our opinions, whatever they may be?
and here comes time for the poll. so i knooowwww these categories can be too steep, but imagine this: you're in a call with us and we turn to you to decide who's right, or, at least right-er. who would you choose? this will help me understand humans a bit better. please help me im definitely fucking neurodivergent
#vent#ig#I KNOW. I KNOW THERES NUANCE. PLEASE JUST VOTE.#LET ME DO THE OVERTHINKING FOR YOU!!!!#ITS MY FUCKING SPECIALTY#also keep in mind that i translated our convo from russian to english#but i think i kept the tone of the convo#and i KNOW its such a small issue.#it's a small issue regarding our relationship but#its def a bigger issue when it comes for my understanding of humans and social code#also if you want to give an elaborate answer my asks are open for anons
