FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT!!!!! i loveddd my first durge playthrough but the lack of dialogue was quite disappointing

I am once again lamenting how neglected resist!Durge has been for months. The final climactic scene to their arc is met with some of the most milquetoast companion reactions I've ever seen.

We literally die.

Like Durge just stops being alive. Where's the angst? The emotion? None of this half-assing shit, give us the shock and denial. Hell, give us weeping! Make it unflattering, because loss can be ugly.

I wouldn't even be opposed to Withers not showing up immediately? Maybe they have to physically drag Durge's dead body back to camp. Show us Gale using the only revival scroll he has and his face falling when it doesn't work. Shadowheart being the healer, desperately expending all her energy to bring you back to life as a last hail mary. Minthara not caring that Bhaal is a god, vowing to make him pay. Lae'zel threatening you to wake up, and the devastation that follows when she realizes you won't. Wyll thinking of bargaining his very soul to Mizora just for the chance she could bring Durge back. Astarion and Karlach praying to whatever gods they can think of even though they don't believe in them anymore.

Show the grief, the exhaustion. Then Withers appears.

As it stands, the emotional weight of what happens to Durge gets resolved so quickly, there's never a moment for any of us to really react to it.

It's an issue all across the game tbh. Why do the companions have no reaction to Kressa's reveal that she tortured Durge? Why are there no consequences to your relationships when they find out you were behind the Absolute plan? Outside of Astarion, the other romanceable companions have very little unique interactions with Durge, which is a shame because there are plenty of them who share many parallels to Durge's experience of being used by a god/higher-power.

I feel like I'm playing the world's smallest violin when I complain about the lack of resist!Durge content because good god, Wyll and Minthara are fighting for their lives over here. But man, it really sucks knowing that patch 7 is allegedly Larian's last big content patch. Like if there was ever going to be an update where this sort of thing was added, it had to be this one. But it doesn't seem like Larian has any intention of closing the content disparity gap.

But I think when you're a college prof and you get an essay published and it's online for people to read everywhere without you, one, not giving the context behind Ganondorf's creation and the coding of his appearance and motivations, two the complexities of a corporate conglomerate in a notoriously socially conservative country taking aesthetics from countries who were historically colonized. And Three, The way that video games are a collaborative effort with usually no singular vision, this is very true at nintendo despite what people may think, and at any moment changes can be made for any reason by team leads or executives that would hinder or even hurt a story. It detrimental to the audience reading it that you do not provide them more of a couple of screenshots

Basically, many things go into a story and now I'm taking this more from a DOYLIST view right here talking about Nintendo. I’m the same OP who has congenital disability. The pain and trauma I’ve endured through my life don’t make any sense to me. I think my brain is literally damaged from complex trauma and all the medical procedures, now as result I have multiple mental illnesses along with neurodevelopmental disorders, and I’m extremely tired and angry. It seems like you don’t understand me to the core, maybe our disabilities are too different or it’s double empathy issue. I’ve dreamed about having my own kids since I was a girl, I love babies, but no way I will give them my genes and make them suffer like I do. Because IM NOT SELFISH.

Trust me, yes, I’d still choose to be aborted in womb, as I’d most likely didn’t feel anything and remembered anything, even if it’s cruel. Bringing a child to the world that will never be really happy and normal - it’s egotistical, period. And I’m not talking as an eugenic fanatic, I’m talking from my own experience, that NOT being born is NOTHING compared to things that kids with severe disabilities experience. For me, abortion is a mercy. Think about those DISABLED kids, not their parents in a minute. Everyone is like «Aw, what a strong mother/father you are!” or whatever, but nobody GAF that their child suffers immensely.

I feel a lot of sympathy for you, it sucks that you've suffered so much. You're probably right about C-PTSD. I think the compassionate response to human suffering isn't to get rid of the sufferer, especially not through violence. That's what euthanasia is, and abortion. It sets up a horrific double standard that while abled and "healthy" people get suicide prevention, disabled and sick people get suicide assistance and "mercy" killing. I think that's wrong. I think that's legal murder.

If you don't want to pass down your genes, then I highly recommend getting sterilized. Because once you fertilize another human being, it's too late, you've passed down your genes to another person, and abortion would murder them.

So your argument is that lack of pain perception and cognitive inabilities disqualify humans from being people? I think that's an ableist framework to be working from. Not to mention, a medically inaccurate one; pain perception likely begins as early as 12 weeks, and at just 8 weeks an embryo begins to flinch if touched. Just because another human doesn't process pain the same as you doesn't make them subhuman.

And bodywide memory begins at fertilization; our body absolutely keeps the score of the traumas inflicted upon us early on, remembered in our very cells. This is why abortion survivors often exhibit C-PTSD symptoms; their bodies absorb the attempt on their lives, even though they cannot consciously recall it. Their body-minds do. We've also seen in case studies that the siblings of twins who are selectively aborted have worse life outcomes due to the early trauma of experiencing their sibling's demise.

And none of this even addresses that much of in-utero testing happens after the first trimester, when some disabilities first become detectable. So disabled and sick babies are often killed in later abortions after 20 weeks; they are premature infants, they absolutely have pain perception and early cognition. Abortion is literally suffocation, poisoning, and dismemberment. It's not mercy. It's deliberate violence. I think about disabled kids all the time, and I think they deserve better than being murdered. You really think Harriet is better off because her brain got sucked out of the back of her neck? i will preface this by saying amanda and angela are easily my top 2 cast members. they are the main reason i watch smosh. but this “discourse” (if you can even call it that) is getting a bit silly.

do i agree with everything said in this blog? no, not at all. but OP and the anons can have whatever opinion they want on them. also, i think it’s important to point out that 1 or 2 negative posts does not negate the OVERWHELMING support amanda and angela get. they are arguably 2 of most popular cast members (in terms of tiktok, tumblr, reddit, youtube and twitter fandoms) and clear fan favourites, so in the grand scheme of things, a few people on tumblr not vibing with them/getting tired of them isn’t going to change how the vast majority feel. and they are completely valid in how they feel.

every cast member gets hate… look esp. at trevor, damien, noah, keith, olivia etc. (im not commenting on the last 3 as i think some of it is justified), but it’s different with amanda and angela. it’s like the same opinions can’t be said of them. i love them, but it’s okay if others don’t. it’s why there are 15 cast members… to cater to every type of humour. there are certain popular cast members i don’t vibe with from time to time.

i will also say, i don’t think OP has really even said they hate amanda. i’m pretty sure i saw previous blog highlighting how she is arguably the best actor at smosh. though i am genuinely curious OP, what is your OVERALL opinion on her? is it a positive or negative one? do you think she’s a good addition?

I fucking love Amanda, which is why it's been deeply upsetting that people are skipping straight over the multiple times I've stated this. Amanda is hilarious, and incredible actress, dedicated, smart, gorgeous, and an all around joy.

That being said, I'm also still well within my rights to dislike some of the things she does, but as you've said, people get pissed at any criticism about the things she does. She is not infallible. She is human and she has bad behaviors just like we all do! We all have stuff that we can work on and Amanda is absolutely no different.

She's one of my favorite cast members. 8/10 times she's on screen I love everything that is going on with her.

That doesn't mean I (or anyone else) shouldn't be allowed to discuss the 2/10 times that we don't like.

I keep seeing posts of people hating on afab autistics (with the word white tacked onto it for people to sound progressive) accusing ‘low support/high functioning’ (put it in quotation marks because I know people don’t like functioning labels including me) afabs of ‘centring ourselves’ in the autism community especially on social media, accusing us of turning autism into a ‘quirk/superpower’ and saying we aren’t taking it seriously. What’s worse, a recent post I saw was by an autistic woman herself! When I called her a misogynist, she said I was ‘misunderstanding’ her post 😡

I understood perfectly well the ever ongoing debate on how there are ‘too many autistic afabs’ now. It was baffling to me that OP has a pretty large following for posting content on how she is constantly treated badly for being afab, then contributes to the stigma and responds to autism moms accusing afabs of ‘minimising’ our condition?!! I lost all my sympathy for them.

Idk, I’m just tired of afabs constantly being told we are taking resources, and now even ‘space’ online (can’t friggin win) when talking about health conditions/autism. We are always ‘taking from people who have it worse’ according to others. We are ‘taking high support needs people’s voices’. Exhausting.

I MEANT TO ANSWER THIS IN APRIL IM SO SORRY

With everything that's been going on in the sphere of gender issues, it's definitely made me realize that quite a few women or afab individuals have taken the misogynistic treatment they faced and then projected it onto others, perhaps as a way to process all the hurt and trauma. It's definitely not okay to do, but oftentimes projection is a way that people try to soothe themselves, but all it does is create more problems. As an afab individual myself who largely acts able-bodied despite the harm it does to my health, I've had a lot of people attempt to use my femininity to both praise my damaging work ethic while also sowing doubt into my own abilities, which is super fucking ableist to anyone regardless of their disability. Feminism should work to be more inclusive because whenever there are discussions around women's rights, a lot of it is rightfully on empowering women and balancing out gender inequality, but I don't think a lot of it can apply to those with disabilities. I think bout what happened to the term "girlboss": originally, it tries to empower women and womanhood to positions of power, but then the term became a meme and with it, all of its credibility was lost. Sexism turned it into a term where women in power can be ridiculed because "girlbossing" has shifted where the idea of afab individuals receiving authority is treated as a mockery due to undeserved effort, and that's ultimately what sexism is: anything outside of manhood and traditional masculinity is not given the same respect and thus allows anyone to degrade a whole person's effort based on their gender alone.

I hate functioning labels as well because by that logic, the fact that I'm college-educated and working makes it seem like I don't require support, but I do. EVERYONE needs support, but because the U.S. in particular is obsessed with individuality, community and mutual aid has been ridiculed by the capitalist mindset. Although I'm not autistic, I've had quite a few autistic friends, and genuinely I think autism is so cool. Like with my own disability, it can definitely suck ass, but everyone I've known with autism has strengths surrounding intelligence and humor. What's so wrong with considering it a superpower? It's literally your life and how you function, and especially since many able-bodied people want to make disability and neurodiversity a bad thing so that they can shame you, refusing to play into that and empowering yourself is huge. Plus, it's genuinely fun to upset people by being yourself. And since this particular autistic woman is complaining about both gender and autism, her projection just shows why ableism needs to be openly discussed and pointed out. I will probably struggle with internalized ableism all my life because neither culture nor disability awareness currently allow me to truly live life WITH a disability. Unfortunately, I feel that too much of the conversation is still about hiding or minimizing disability to appease the thoughts of others.

Sexism is also the reason for why people will complain about too many afab individuals with autism. I feel like the autistic community is well aware of the difficulties in being afab and getting a diagnosis because sexism is alive and well in our perspective of health. While getting my degree, I realized that gym bros are not actually wrong when they talk bout health and fitness; the actual issue again stems from how we view health and disability. Not only are gym bros operating on this assumption that everyone's health is fully able-bodied, but also they assume that every health issue can be fixed with a healthy lifestyle which isn't true? Ignoring the fact that research still uses white cisgender male data as the human physiological default, if you have an enzyme that doesn't function correctly in metabolism, intense exercise will definitely make you sicker, not better. It's the same with disability. With autism, the diagnostic criteria is supposed to help identify what possible supports you could need, but it still depends on what is actually helpful to you personally. With this economic crisis and the potential downfall of capitalism, disability is actually a great way to talk bout how capitalism isn't possible for anyone because productivity and the economy are talked about as if they are magical forces instead of behavior carried out by people. Capitalism pushes even able-bodied standards, so by supporting disability, we can also argue for better conditions for everyone, but that's the ideal scenario.

I ramble a lot when I write because writing is essentially how I think, but yeah, it's unfortunate that she's currently using her platform to push harmful ideas about gender, disability, and autism. No matter how severe your disability is, there is no such thing as taking away needed resources because those resources are for you. It's great if you don't need as much support as others, but if you need support, you should absolutely be allowed to do anything that makes your life easier. I'm largely going to be ignoring what society thinks bout disability and even about life in general because doing what society thinks has only ever hurt me. It's very funny to me when people try to complain about marginalized people as if we're the problem, not the people and the systems who reinforce the perspective that asking for help, asking for accommodations, is somehow a big ask. It's not, and I think we should be more mean about it because it's wild that we let people dictate what kind of support we can ask for.

so i’ve been curious about this game since...before i was old enough to play it, probably. i listened to the OP pretty frequently and would try looking up info on the story now and again. problem is, it came out 16 years ago with no sign of an english release. i’d also heard rumors that black cyc games are programmed weird and impossible to insert text into, or something? so basically i gave up on it and moved on to greener more euphoric pastures

it FINALLY got an english release in november 2022, and i found this out...on the last day of a JAST sale. so i figured, fuck it, no time like the present

which brings us here today. is this game good? no clue! is it gory? most likely! but nothing can faze me after euphoria, right? ......r-right?

so the plot is this dude moves back to the town he grew up in and lives with his hot older cousin. he will probably fuck her. sorry. don’t kill the messenger. he reunites with his childhood friends who are all girls with color-coded names. he will probably fuck them. for some reason there's an ossan with a gun. he will probably fuck him?

so whoever you try to date, you get harassed by this purple-haired little girl and her creepy murder clown buddy and you have to stop them from killing your three weed-smoking girlfriends

also that caution tape says "delicious"

I have been screaming about how Jon got the literal SAME treatment as Chris for AGES but people can't seem to get over the fact DC decided for the UMPTEENTH time that you know what couples need? Biological kids over adopted ones we have always been screwing over anyway! Chris isn't the first adopted kid to get fucked over by DC! Stop concentrating your anger on the fictional characters and start getting angry at the writers and editors! I want THEIR asses on a platter, not Jon's!

Oh, let's not forget the fact Chris was always going back to the Phantom Zone at the end of his debut run— but because Last Son's artist had to take a nearly year-long break due to health issues, the other writers took that as an opportunity to develop Chris and his relations with the Superfamily.

Superkids are disposable for Clark angst, whether one accepts it or not. Chris isn't the first to get the shaft (that would be Cir-El, who was even retconned as not being RELATED to Clois because people hated her guts as a Supergirl-replacement so much) and as you can see, he certainly isn't and won't be the last (see: Jon). I'm sure those twins won't last long either.

(I have beef with Kennedy so I tend to ignore the twins' existence unless someone forces me to acknowledge them. He is on my shit list though— at least Jon wasn't created as a (blatant) replacement for Chris, unlike those two! I can't believe he even admitted that! In an interview!

You could have found a way to deage Jon and solidify yourself as a legend regardless of how the rest of your run goes, but noooo, you had to cram in your own OCs instead! You don't even get to own their IP, idiot!

Oh, and I read somewhere (or was it in the same interview?) that the girl was gonna die at the end of the Warworld saga too! As if the boy twin wasn't enough of an obvious replacement (who I might add even has some similarities with Chris too)! And you had to screw over the New Gods for them too! They are barely recovering from King's Mister Miracle, dude!)

see anon, one thing i've realized about BOTH dc fandumb and dc editorial after being off dc comics for nearly ten years is that......... they not reading 😂😂😂 that's literally it, and im tired of pretending like that's not a problem on BOTH sides. it's so funny bc yeah, chris was never meant to last, but he DID have an impact, but you would think that after the nuking of the universe, the failure that was the new 52, and then the rebirth initiative to bamboozle hoes back into buying overpriced singles.............. they would, like, make a genuine effort not to be stupid with their own heritage properties, but the clowns keep clowning!!!
