hey! this is actually something i've thought about quite a lot before so here's how i see it:

since monsters are so diverse in the monster world, there are a vast amount of factors that are considered beautiful. some monsters may like 1 eye, some like 3 eyes and some like 8. some like feathers, scales, or fur. it just comes down to preference. but for monsters, generally, scary = beautiful

firstly, for the teeth thing, i imagined that just like human beauty standards, monster beauty standards can change. perhaps yellow teeth used to be the standard, but then it was discovered that whiter teeth made them more visible and gave them a scarier appearance. also, maybe they discovered that poor dental health caused monsters to lose their teeth sooner, which is a problem if you rely on them for scaring. proper dental care allowed you to stay healthy and kept your teeth in good condition, keeping you in the scaring career for longer. like when sulley is brushing his teeth in mi, mike really emphasizes getting rid of plaque

A few days went by of normalcy before you heard a knock on your office door, and they didn't wait to hear you answer before entering.

"Harvey, you know normally people knock to get permission before coming into a room." You said dryly.

Harvey smirked before striding to your desk, leaning on the corner before looking around appreciatively.

"I knew you'd tell me no, and I wanted to see this fancy corner office they gave you."

He'd come to your office later that day, clearly pissed about the verdict. The energy in the room turning nothing short of intense the moment he stepped foot inside. It was later that evening when yet another knock interrupted the silence of your office. As you turned, Harvey stood in the doorway, a mixture of determination and vulnerability on his face. Okay, in response to the anon who asked about Dean and his nicknames, what’re your thoughts on Sam? We don’t see him use nicknames in the same way Dean does, but my own personal headcanon is that they’re both pretty similar even in ways they aren’t aware of.

oh! sam, personally, is a whole different kind of nickname person than dean. where dean's nicknames are effortless and part of his personality, sam's feel more deliberate, more meaningful. i have this perception that sam would be easier to "befriend" and dean often has his guard up more often, but getting to his heart for real? i think it would be so hard to actually get to know the real sam!!!

It took a lot of convincing for you to join, and had you known he was this broody you probably wouldn't have joined.

At the beginning, you were stubborn on joining the Spider Society because you had thought it was a pity invite, given that you felt you were more intelligent than agile. Although you admit your body was pretty strong and durable- it was only because your parents had enrolled you in a strenuous amount of classes that ranged from dance to karate- and even cooking. The classes had helped with getting into a good college that allowed you to pursue your dream career, but you never sought out anything besides yoga.

When you got bitten by a radioactive Black Widow you thought it was the end of your story, that your years of classes and college were coming to an end, eventually you realized that you weren't actually dying. And as time went on you started to see the new things you could do, and you embraced them. You were excited, you began practicing moves and spent a lot of time learning how to use your webs properly. You felt like you could become a hero, save lives, and become a beacon of hope for your city.

After some rough events that left you feeling depressed, you decided that becoming a hero was no longer something you could pursue. You felt upset about your own decision for days, you felt useless doing nothing but you felt the same way doing something. The life of a hero felt emotionally, and physically, taxing on yourself and the people around you. With time you managed to overcome the guilt and began to understand that there were different ways save people.

Your new path was to be promoted at the Alchemax company in your world- they were good, you had deemed it so after hearing what they had done in other Earths. Eventually you wanted to lead a research department that could help hospitals, and homeless, worldwide.

Even though the current path was similar to that of a superhero, you still felt an immense guilt in your chest. You thought that your powers were a miracle that should be used, but you couldn't, it's not what you wanted anymore and if you went back now- it would only make things worse.

Miguel had spent many months sending Jessica to your dimension to convince you to join the Spider Society. Every time you gave a different reason to reject the offer, feeling as though you wouldn't bring much value to the team.

It only took the man himself showing up at your apartment, on a Tuesday at 3 am, for you to join. He explained thoroughly why he wanted you, although crude, you felt recognized for something other than your powers. It felt like he provided the missing reassurance you needed, you joined.

"He leaves me alone for the most part, the only interactions we have is him sending me emails, and me going to his 'office' to give him his drugs for the week," you let out a soft laugh, you had to admit, was very handsome under all of the stress, responsibility and arrogance. Despite his handsome looks, you still thought he was an asshole that needed to comprehend people better.

"He's demanding though, and... AND rude" rising from you chair, you scrunch your nose and walk to the coffee machine. There's only so much water could do for your nerves if you continued to speak about Miguel's attitude, as of recent it had been worse and you had no idea why. astgenne's kit builds on chain caster traits through her talent increasing her aspd and her skills targeting multiple enemies, allowing her to apply very consistent slows to large groups of enemies. because of the way chain caster attacks bounce, whenever she attacks 2 enemies at once through her skills, both of those enemies will also get hit by the bounce from the attack that hit the other one first, effectively doubling her damage on each target hit. her skill modifiers look small, but she actually double dips those numbers, and because arts resistance is a % reduction there is no numerical drawback for doing multiple lower damage hits instead of a single high damage one like there is for physical damage

her base module effect also removes the damage reduction on each jump, so her multitarget damage becomes very consistent and a lot higher than you'd think from just looking at her on paper. with a level 1 module and if there's 2 or more enemies, and there should be if you're bringing a chain caster about it, this is actually a 250% damage modifier and an 80% atk buff. very respectable numbers with these sp costs!

on top of that she attacks way faster than her other chain caster colleagues thanks to the stacking aspd buff on her talent. at module level 3, after about a minute of being deployed astgenne has the same attack interval as a core caster and a similar attack stat, except her attacks hit up to 4 enemies and inflict slow. she attacks more, enemies get slowed more, they stay in her range for longer so she can attack them even more, it all adds up to make her a super consistent source of sustained multitarget damage

so a while ago I saw this post going around that talked about, like, when you're picking names for genderbent characters, sometimes just going with the masculine/feminine version of their original name isn't going to work because the context and connotation is completely wrong, and I was like yes! good! excellent! but it used some batfam characters as examples and the name it picked for a genderbent Damian went so completely against the tone of the name "Damian" that I immediately went "nope I'm doing this myself" so uh. here's the Storm version of a genderbent Batfam + reason why I chose those names.

Bruce "Brucie" Wayne -> Elizabeth "Beth" or "Lizzie/Bessie/Buffy" Wayne OR Berenice "Bunny" Wayne Elizabeth, at least in my head, feels like the same kind of "classical english name" as Bruce -- it's well-known, not particularly tied to any one era, relatively formal, and makes sense for an old-money family that doesn't really have East Coast WealthyTM names (think Throckmorton). "Beth" feels like a good parallel to "Bruce" in that it's a short, workaday name, and there are plenty of silly nicknames for the ditzy socialite side - I am enormously amused by the idea of Beth Wayne, Batwoman, going by Buffy in public, but if that's too much of a reference "Lizzie" or "Bessie" also exist. Berenice, meanwhile, is on here largely because of the nickname "Bunny", which is even better, imo, than Buffy. Bunny Wayne. It delights me. (Berenice is. fine. It's a bit fancier than Bruce, imo, which may or may not jive with the tone of any given fic, but it probably wouldn't be my go-to.)

Richard "Dick" Grayson -> Dorothy "Dotty" or "Dolly" Grayson I pulled this one directly from the original post bc I really do like it and think it works well - it's all about the nickname. It needs to be something that was once a legitimate, unremarkable name that is now a deeply ridiculous thing for someone to unironically call themselves and Dotty and/or Dolly are about as close as you can get to that without it being. actual slang for penis. "Dorothy" also works well as a counterpart for "Richard": a well-known, somewhat old-fashioned name but one that's still in use in modern times.

Cassandra "Cass" Cain/Wayne -> Cassander "Cas/Cass" Cain/Wayne This is one where I actually do think just using the masculine version of the original name works quite well. Cassandra is a name from Greek myth, and given Cass's history and parentage, I think that that context is one of the most important things about how that name works with her character: it's a non-English name, pulled from a culture commonly treated as a "lost golden age of civilization", it's long, it's complicated, it's elegant and a little bit strange. "Cassander" was the name of a king of Macedonia, according to behindthename.com it's the masculine version of the name Cassandra, and to me it has that same sense of slightly eerie elegance.

Jason "Jay" Todd -> Jessie "Jess" Todd This one is more about sound and and vibes than anything else - Jason is a well-known, plain, fairly workaday name that gives me the impression of someone who is strong and no-nonsense, and Jessie (not short for Jessica) gives me the same impression, especially if she habitually goes by Jess in public. Also, they're very sonically similar, and I liked that.

Stephanie "Steph" Brown -> Sidney "Sid" Brown OR  Zachary "Zach" Brown I'll be honest, I don't know nearly as much about Steph Brown as I would like to, so this one is based mostly off of sound, nickname quality, and some context - Stephanie sounds relatively modern, to me, it's a name that wouldn't fit a pre-1980's character (at the earliest). I went with "Sidney" and "Zachary" because they both also have that relatively modern feel with a well-known short form. "Sidney" is here because it starts with S and I think "Sid" fits okay? with the character despite being pretty sonically different from "Steph", "Zachary" because it has a closer sonic feel to "Stephanie" despite the name "Zach" being a little further, vibes-wise, from "Steph".

Timothy "Tim" Drake -> Cordelia "Cora" Drake OR Theresa "Tess" Drake Okay, okay, listen. I know "Cora" sounds nothing at all like "Tim" BUT. in my heart. the name fits the character better than any others I could find. "Timothy" feels very Victorian Boy's Name (or like. animated movie about talking animals set in the 1920's/30's) to me, and in modern days it's a longer, very formal name that's basically never used full-length, but the shorter form is plain, well-known, and still very common. "Cordelia" was also popular in the Victorian Era, would be a familiar-but-uncommon name to most people, and having "Cora" be the everyday name I feel just. fits the character well. Theresa is on here as a closer-sounding alternative because "Tess" is the closest I could get to "Tim" without just stealing Tamara's name (although come to think of it, in an "everyone is genderbent" world just swapping Tim and Tam's names would be very funny), and it has that same "common short form of an uncommon, slightly old-fashioned full name" element, and because "Tess" is a better fit for the character than the other two candidates ("Tori", short for Victoria, or "Tilly", short for Matilda - I liked those two because they give me the same vibes as Timothy, but the short form is the more important part).

Duke Thomas -> Blue Thomas Okay. I know, this sounds nothing at all like "Duke", but again. in my heart. same vibes. It's a name that's very modern-sounding without being Trendy, it's a single syllable, it's a name that is also a common word, and just. idk, they feel similar to me. A little bit cool (in multiple definitions of the word), a little bit laid-back, like they'd both work as nicknames for a 1920's jazz singer. You get it.

Damian Wayne -> Alecto Wayne Yes. I know. Hear me out on this. The original name proposed for a genderbent Damian is what prompted me to make this post in the first place (and no I'm not saying it because I don't want to rag on OP too much) because Damian, as a name, has. just. so much meaning and so much context that is so important to my perception of Damian as a character. It's a Greek name, meaning "the tamer" - it's clearly non-English - it's strange and unusual and stands out among a modern American crowd - it's older, darker, dangerous - it's pulled from a long-gone civilization that for a long, long time was treated as one of the pinnacles of human achievement and yet was just as fucked up as any other society and often was significantly more so - and, most importantly, it is such an Edgelord of a name. It's the name of the overdramatic bad guy in a vampire play (not movie. play.) who stands in a tower drinking blood out of a jeweled goblet. It's a name given to a baby who was raised by assassins and the grandchild of an immortal assassin bent on destroying civilization in an attempt to make the world better. Damian is a sharp prickly pompous brat of a ten-year-old and part of that is looking down at a little kid with a sword with a name like Damian. It's just. how do I even explain this. it makes perfect sense for the League to have named him like that and it makes perfect sense that part of his personality is trying to live up to that and yet he can't because he's like ten. If you had to cast the Bridgerton actors into glee 09-15 as special guests stars, have you any thoughts on who any of them could be? I could see Jonathan Bailey as a cousin of someone, maybe Blaine (and bring back Cooper) or Rachel. Or pick a Bridgerton actor as love interest for any of the glee characters? ...as Ellie. She's the student director of the all-female play that Rachel is starring in. She doesn't really like Rachel, and felt somewhat forced to have her in the production, but deals with her anyway. She's smart and clever and really opinionated and very direct, and she and Rachel butt heads a lot. But Rachel becomes a better person after being in the production and having Ellie really help her get her shit together.

7. Adjoa Andoh

...as Mercedes's favorite aunt, Agatha. She's in town and helps Mercedes decide how to move forward in her life. (And also shows up to attend the wedding between Mercedes and Sam.)

8. Luke Thompson

...as Ben, Tina's new boyfriend. Who figures out he's bisexual when he does a play with Blaine. Blaine helps him figure out his sexuality (not personally - Klaine is still very much a thing) but it's alright, he does actually like Tina, too, and they stay together. :)

9. Yerin Ha

This is part of why I'm less interested in the gifts stuff that a lot of other people. I think it does muddy the waters with things like this. Like, are Edward and Alice actually compatible as siblings/friends or is it just like "you're the only one who understands because our author gave us these specific gifts?" And at the end of the day maybe it doesn't super matter; they DO have those gifts and it DOES help them understand one another so what it would be like without them only really matters if you're writing some All Human AU that removes the supernatural. In their world, compatibility with gifts is a thing, and probably just as valid as other kinds of compatibility and sympathy.

It is interesting that Edward thinks Rose is selfish and vain but loves Alice, when you know if it were Rosalie spending all this money on clothes they only wear once and throwing parties he would see it as another sign of her poor moral character. But part of it may be that Alice and Edward are different enough that they don't annoy each other in the same way Rose and Edward do. Both of them are more melancholy, more negative, more judgmental. Alice is more fun and happy and extroverted so Edward probably doesn't see his own flaws in her the same way he does in Rose (although they can be similar, too, in their sort of manipulative "I know best" dealings).

With Bella I think the gifts thing is even more of a factor. I mean if he could hear Bella's thoughts he'd be getting a lot of "Edward is SO hot" because that's what her narration is in the book, and I don't know that he's find that any different than how Jessica or whoever thinks about him. But because he can't read her mind, he's able to project on her, and also interpret her choices and actions in flattering ways rather than negative ways as he does with most people. And like I get it. I certainly think things I wouldn't say or do. I'm very patient and helpful at my job at the library, for example, but in my head when I see certain people coming and asking for help I'm like "ugggggh not THIS person" and "why can't you do this yourself?!?!" so if Edward were reading my mind he might be like "oh she's not as nice as she seems, she's two-faced, what a scoundrel!" when it's really just . . . being human?

If Bella's behavior was more like Rose and Jessica but Edward couldn't read her mind, that would be interesting. I guess if she also still smelled delicious he might fall for her, and then make up flattering explanations or excuses for the behaviors he doesn't like in others. "She just moved here/she's lonely/she misses her mother/she will grow out of it/whatever" when he's not willing/able to extend that same grace to Jessica because he can read her mind and judges her on her thoughts.

And this isn't me badmouthing Edward; I'm sure it WOULD be genuinely hard NOT to judge people when you're hearing what they are thinking all the time. That's going to flavor your perceptions of people in a major way. But I do think it's not really a fair or accurate view of a person, because what we DO and SAY matters more than what we think. We can have bad thoughts and re-direct them. We can think something mean and choose not to say it. We can internally grumble but do the Right Thing anyway.

I also think having the first two people he spent any time with being the uncommonly "good" Carlisle (super compassion!) and Esme (unconditional love) probably didn't help Edward get a realistic picture of what most people's thoughts are like. Judging a teenager's developing brain against a centuries-old compassion-motivated vampire doctor isn't gonna be a fair comparison. "Carlisle would never think like that" sure but he's also been actively choosing to fight baser instincts for hundreds of years, and Jessica's a 17-year-old navigating social cliques and history exams. They are not the same.

Jason frowned in concentration, and it actually made her feel a little better that he took the time to think about his answer. "I don't think so. I think Hera did more damage than anything. Besides, your powers are more based on your own intent, right? You have to really try to make people do things."

"Not at first!" she said, a tad hysterical. The whole reason I was at the wilderness school was because I got that guy to give me a car!" Sure, she had good control of her powers, now, but whenever she first learned about them, she was basically just manipulating people. It felt icky then, and it felt even worse now that she'd seen what those kinds of abilities could do.

She looked up to see Jason staring at her, concerned. "Don't look at me like that, with your big sad Chris Evans eyes."

Jason's nose crinkled, and his blue eyes - big and sad like Captain America - turned downward. "Who's Chris Evans?"

Any other time, she would have made fun of him for that, but she was too upset to appreciate how funny it was. "The guy who plays adult you."

If it was possible, Jason looked even more confused. "What?"

"Oh gods, oh gods," Piper muttered. "Did I force myself on you? Was everything we did even consensual?"

There was a scratching sound over by Jason's bed, and Piper looked over to see Jason scribbling something down. She was willing to bet it was Chris Evans' name to google later. Again, she wanted to laugh but was freaking out too much.

When he was done, Jason said, "Yeah, I think it was. Even thinking about Hera, we were 15 to 16, and you're very pretty.” So he was he, but whatever. “Exploring your sexuality is what being that age is for." He started walking over to her. "Besides, we never really got past kissing."

Piper vowed to show him the Captain America movies if only so he could understand the archetype role he filled perfectly - if she could ever look at him again. He waved a hand. "It doesn't matter. Piper, you know this is something we all deal with? I could do terrible things with my powers, too. I could short out the entire eastern seaboard's power grid if I tried hard enough." He snapped. "And Nico - you hang out with Will, I know you've heard some of his stories - Nico can and has done some pretty terrible things, but we all still love him." Piper almost said this wasn't the time for Jason's weird older sibling obsession with the Italian before he pulled out the big guns. "Think about Percy. Do you know how hard he has to work to keep his powers in check? Your powers aren't even half as strong as his."

Damn. That was a good one. The boy was practically a ticking time bomb. The focus he expended just to not turn into Luke probably took most of his strength. "You're right," she said. Jason looked relieved. "I should go talk to Percy."

She ran out of Cabin One and booked it to Three.

Predictably, Percy and Annabeth were a bit startled when Piper burst into the Poseidon cabin.

"Percy," she declared, "kiss me."

The boy in question sent an alarmed look to Annabeth who seemed equally surprised. "...That's gonna be a no."

Piper narrowed her eyes and threw every bit of concentration into her next two words. "Kiss me."

A fog seemed to come over him, and he actually started to get up. Then, he shook his head. "What are you-"

"Percy, don't listen to her, she's having a crisis," Jason blurted as he shot through the door. The blond did a double take when he saw Percy, Annabeth, and Piper just staring at each other. "Oh, good."

Annabeth held up a hand from her spot at the corner of the bed. "What is going on?"

It was a good thing Jason started talking first because Piper had no idea where to even start. "We were watching Jessica Jones-"

"Oh, I love that show," Annabeth interrupted. "Well, the first season. Krysten Ritter is so hot-"

"So hot," Percy echoed.

"-and David Tennant is so good as Killgrave." Thankfully, that appeared to be all it took for Annabeth to understand Piper's current crisis of self. "Killgrave's powers freaked you out?"

Mutely, Piper nodded.

Annabeth put out a hand. "Percy's demi, it won't work as well on him. Ask me, I'm bi."

Before she could reconsider, Piper said, "Annabeth, kiss me."

Just as it had to Percy, a fog seemed to come over her face, but unlike her boyfriend, Annabeth didn't stop. She got to barely a few inches in front of Piper before she stumbled a little and pulled her head back. "Wow, that's so weird."

Piper was vaguely aware of Percy and Jason watching them in her periphery. "Do you feel violated?"

If she'd expected Annabeth to get uncomfortable at the question, she was sorely disappointed. The daughter of Athena just laughed at her. "I mean, only in the sense that I knew I was being coerced. Otherwise, you're my friend - my very beautiful friend - and I know you wouldn't hurt me. Honestly, if it weren't for Percy, I probably would have kissed you."

Now, everyone - barring Percy, who had apparently had extensive conversations with his girlfriend about what celebrities they both thought were hot - was staring at Annabeth. Piper shook her head and turned to Jason. "See? See how easy it would be for me to force-"

"I think you're looking at it wrong," Percy said suddenly. The son of Poseidon was giving her a thoughtful look. "I don't think your powers are as persuasive as you're thinking they are. You had to really try just now to get me to do anything, and Annabeth was, uh-"

"Ready to do what anyone would be when their awesome friend tells them to kiss them with their superpowers," Annabeth quickly declared.

Jason threw up his hands. "Thank you! And whatever you think you did to me should really be blamed on Hera because we were young-"

"So young," Annabeth agreed.

"-really, not old or experienced enough to be sure about what we wanted, not to mention the memories and manipulation, and you didn't realize you weren’t straight until a lot later, either-"

"So really, if anyone is guilty of mind control and sexual assault, it's Hera," said Percy, who was not afraid of pissing off the queen of the gods. No, he looked perfectly content and not worried about cow shit at all.

That made Piper smile.

"Plus," Percy started, "our powers are there to help us. We're not like characters who get powers by accident or give themselves power ups for their own gain or security. We're born with them because monsters are constantly trying to kill us."

That was...surprisingly insightful. It was easy to forget that Percy was actually pretty smart. "How do you guys do it, then? Deal with these crazy powers?"

Jason shook his head. "Percy can answer that better than me. Anything more than some sparks and flying takes a lot out of me."

His comment very nearly sent Piper back into a tailspin. She never would have considered herself anywhere near as powerful as Jason; hell, she wouldn't even consider herself as powerful as Annabeth. This new responsibility - knowing she could leave this cabin and ruin lives just with her voice - was almost more than she could handle, and she didn't like it at all. She couldn't believe Percy just lived like this, but 100 times worse knowing that his powers could - and had - hurt the gods.

The black haired boy cocked his head. "It's not like...I mean, I don't do anything special. You learn to live with it. You just have to find a way to not be bothered by it or lose control." Her face must have fallen or something because Percy said, "Annabeth helps a lot. I know if I ever did lose control, she'd pull me out of it." He grabbed Annabeth's hand. "Or kill me."

Annabeth blanched. "But it won't ever come to that."

Piper could tell from Percy and Annabeth's faces that it absolutely could come to that and that they'd probably had this exact discussion between the two of them before.

Maybe she should make a kill-pact with Jason or Leo or someone in case she ever went supervillain and turned into Killgrave.

She finally took the time to look around the room and realized that Percy and Annabeth had been doing homework. "Thanks, guys, I feel a lot better. See you at dinner."

"See ya."

The second the door to Percy's cabin was shut, Piper rounded on Jason. "Swear that if I ever go off the deep end, you'll kill me."

Jason's eyes bugged out of his head. "Piper-"

"Swear."

There wasn't any charmspeak in her voice - at least, she didn't think there was - but Jason still said, "Fine, but only if you do the same for me."

Piper nodded. "I swear by the River Styx that if you start using your powers to hurt innocent people and there's no chance of stopping you non fatally, I'll kill you."

Jason repeated the oath, and Piper dragged Jason back to his cabin for a Chris Evans binge.

A week later, Leo returned from Indiana and sat next to Piper on the steps of the amphitheater. "Hey, Beauty Queen."

"Hey, Repair Boy."

"I hear you're to blame for Jason suddenly writing Captain America fanfiction?"

The Embroidery Stitch Bible

I mentioned this book in another post as an offhand comment but thought I'd spend a bit of time talking about it properly because I've found it extremely useful as a way to learn more embroidery techniques (more useful than the course materials provided by the course I paid to go on). They main point of this book is to show you how to do a whole bunch of different embroidery stitches and it does so in a clear and easy-to-follow way. 

There's some information in the book about embroidery basics like how to mark a pattern or how a cross stitch chart works and stuff like that. I don't have much to say about that part of the book because, honestly, I didn't bother reading it. The sections of the book I care about are the Stitch Selector section and then the instructions. The stitch selector bit consists of 16 pages showing little thumbnail pictures of different stitches with their names and a page number for where to find the instructions for that stitch. The stitches will be grouped together so that ones that are similar in technique will be in a little cluster e.g. chain stitch, open chain stitch, heavy chain stitch are all next to each other, and you can skim through the thumbnails looking at the pictures to find one that looks interesting or looks like it will have the right effect for the thing you want to achieve in your embroidery piece.

Once you've found a stitch you want to try, you flip to the page number it says, and you will find clear diagrams and step by step instructions for how to do that stitch. Most stitches will have one or two diagrams showing you how to work it but some of the more complicated stitches will have more. I think I saw a stitch with six diagrams to explain it (I haven't tried that one yet). I haven't necessarily found doing the stitches easy (looking at you, bullion knots) but I've found the diagrams very easy to understand.

I highly recommend this book if you want to learn new stitches because it makes them so easy to see what you're supposed to do and because the stitch selector at the start lets you skim through the options to decide what to try. It doesn't include every possible stitch. I found some in the RSN Stitch Bank which aren't in the book (including Jessica Stitch, which I'm still delighted by) but the photos in the stitch selector makes it so much easier to see what the stitches will look like on fabric while figuring out what to try. With RSN, I have to click into each page to see the stitch because the icon diagrams don't give a clear view of what it will look like in thread, which makes it much harder to skim.

Supernatural S.5 Ep.3 - Free to be You and Me - Liveblog

The past two episodes of Supernatural have been emotionally hard to get through, and today was kind of a rough day for me since I forgot my meds, so let's see how terrible this episode is for my mental health.

Also, judging by the summary of the episode, it appears that my inference of the archangel that attacked Castiel being Raphael/Israfil was in fact correct, which makes me very happy. I love when I can correctly guess things.

Now to the episode!

Opening on Sam seeing visions of Jess... My jaw actually kind of dropped, I looked just like Sam for a second there. Jess, I miss you. You and Sam were such a power couple, I miss you and I want you back. Why do I have a feeling that Jess is actually Lucifer though, similar to how Lucifer in the last episode came in the form of Sarah. I'm probably wrong, but either way would not surprise me. I'm happy to see Jess even if it's like this, because I love her and she deserved better. Samjess, you will always be famous to me.

The way Sam talks about himself makes me so sad... And now Jess blaming him? She would never, she loves him too much. Don't do this to me, Supernatural show writers, don't do this to me.

Is Sam condemning himself to a life of loneliness here? I think he is.

WOah I like that scene change with the door of the car with Sam switching to the trunk of the car with Dean, that was cool to see! I like shots like that!

Sam burning all of his fake IDs, part of his connection to hunting and to working with Dean- I hate this I hate this-

The escape from hunting he always wanted, but he doesn't get it how he wanted. Or how he deserved. He's with Jessica, but not in a good way.

I'm absolutely loving the cinematography in this opening scene and the parallels of Sam and Dean. I praise highly.

Sam fighting the urge to call Dean... I hate this, I hate them being apart.

I've talked a lot about how this show makes me think about my sister, and seeing Sam and Dean separated makes me miss her a lot. I saw her on facetime today but it's not the same as seeing her in person. She's my best friend, I hate not being able to talk to her (which sucks because she ignores my texts sometimes). Maybe I'm just a sap.

Cas I think we should talk about your willingness to die...

Castiel looks so uncomfortable and man, do I feel him. I too, sitting here watching this, am uncomfortable. Cas' face in this scene- I can't- The way he walks away like a scolded child-

Oh I love Lindsey- She seems so sweet and like she really cares about Sam. And she's giving him advice he needs to hear.

The look in Raphael's eyes and in his face. It's incredibly unnerving, kudos to the actor.

God is not dead. I don't believe that for a second. He's definitely walking on Earth among people, if the angels think he's dead.

The way Raphael is talking about God creates parallels in my head to what happened with John in season 1... I can't fully explain it though.

Poor Castiel, the internal struggle with his faith can only be increasing now.

I looked up the actor for Raphael because I wanted to know his name. Demore Barnes, you have one of the most incredible voices I have ever heard, I love it.

The hunters are trying for force feed Sam blood? What the fuck- No no no no no no no this isn't okay I am wildly uncomfortable fuck. Okay. I need to take a second. I have to take a break. I can't watch this.

Alright. I stepped away for a few minutes to gather myself. This show has so many cases of assault or removal of autonomy when it comes to the Winchesters, and it's hard to watch. It also doesn't get discussed enough, because it's serious.

Is Sam going to kill the hunters? I mean I wouldn't blame him, but he really shouldn't. Seems he knows that too. Or Lindsey was able to pull him out of it.

DEAN BRINGING UP JOHN- WHAT DID I SAY- WHAT DID I SAY-

"Especially without my brother" oh. um. The shit Dean is saying, it's actually hard to breath. I can't believe what I'm hearing honestly. This is good for Dean though. He needs to learn to live for himself and live alone.

Sam talking to Jess is Sam talking to himself and FUCK I WAS RIGHT. WHAT DID I SAY? GO TO THE TOP OF THE POST WHAT DID I SAY!

Dude. What have I BEEN SAYING? SINCE LIKE SEASON 2/3? SAM IS MEANT TO BE A VESSEL OF LUCIFER! I WAS RIGHT! It's so interesting how Sam is Lucifer's vessel and Dean is Michael's anyway I WAS RIGHT I'M SO PROUD OF MYSELF I FEEL SO SMART.

I have so many feelings about Sam rn. I have so many feelings in general I don't even know what to say.

Oh y'all KNOW I had to talk about this, I don't know about you but I am absolutely excited to see what DC has in store for us in the future with these 2 shows, finally Green lantern is getting the recognition he deserves because ever since the green lantern movie back 2011, nobody really cares or even tries to touch green lantern and instead treats them like a joke or the effing plague, which is really a shame because they're one of the most creative and interesting characters in all of DC,

like between talking place in space and having a roster which basically represents all sides of the damn emotional spectrum, they're never really given that much attention aside from only having 1 cartoon series and a few animated projects here and there, which really sux in my opinion, because they're lore and concepts are so interesting to me that I really wish we saw it more, I'm hoping that this show will be good considering DC knows how to cook when it comes to animation and not really movie's, (unless you're batman, we'll have to see in July but as of now, not really) but also because this will be in the same universe as My Adventures with Superman, which is already a win for me considering how GOOD that show was ^^

Judging from the synopsis it looks like the show will be featuring Jessica Cruz as the main Green lantern, which sounds however a part of me really wishes that they had gone went with Kyle rayner since he's such an underrated lantern and not that many people know about and seeing his journey from going to green to white lantern would've been such an awesome thing to see, I hoping we'll get to see more iconic lantern characters show up and probably help train Jessica like Hal Jordan, John Stewart, guy gardner, killowog and maybe even Kyle rayner, considering you need a lot of training to use that damn ring 😅 I'm also hoping the design for her will be very similar to the one from DC Superhero girls considering that design is just really good and I absolutely just love the little green streak in her hair when she goes lantern mode, it just adds a little bit of extra flavor if ya know what I mean, I'm hoping to see a lot of lantern Villains also show up because GL actually has a suprising amount of rogues in his roster like Atrocious and the man hunters but I'm pretty sure whatever they do it will be absolutely good, it's great to see the impact that MAWS has had and I'm really excited to see what they do next.

I also really can't wait to see what the people at DC have in store for us when it comes down to this Starfire tv show because aside from being 1 of my favorite characters in Teen titans as well as one of my mains in injustice 2, she never really gets that much attention aside from always being associated with the titans, so I'm really interested to see her backstory played out and adapted for modern audiences to see,

I'm hoping the cast and animation will be good considering the absolute TRASH we've had for the past decade *cough, cough, Teen titans Go, cough cough* like don't get me wrong I loved the colors they used for and characters in that show but that series was NOT Teen titans, however I do hope they go with a similar approach and use bright eye catching colors for her, ESPECIALLY since it would be a GOOD contrast between her and her sister Blackfire and would fit really well with the overall theme of space and the Cosmo's, judging from the logo it looks like it could be really good but we'll have to wait and see when it comes out, but lemme know what you guys think, are you excited for these shows or not really? I know I am ^^
