There’s been a bunch of scenes so far where Dexter is given a pep talk about how he’s a good man/good BPA analyst/would make a good father/etc but like everyone is missing the fact he’s a fucking serial mass murderer. Like Dexter’s looking up at the ceiling like ‘yeah maybe they’re right I am good’ like no no Dexter they don’t know you’re a serial killer. No little guy they’re making a judgement without the full context trust me do NOT have that kid please don’t listen to Debra

You can’t be too good at your job: FALSE.
Richard Mansfield’s 1880s onstage portrayal of Dr. Jekyll’s transformation into Mr. Hyde was so good that people accused him of being Jack the Ripper and even wrote letters to the London police encouraging his arrest.

Not only, ladies and gentlemen, do I stand on the fact - nay, the truth - that both Armand and Louis want to fuck that old man; but I suggest that Lestat de Lioncourt is also perfectly amenable to fucking that old man - if only because Armand and Louis are both doing it and like fucking hell is Lestat getting left out, thank you very much.

temple is an unreliable narrator and is more at fault for biff’s death than he lets on/remembers: juicy. delicious. tragic. what’s the truth? does anyone even remember? how much blame falls on carolina? how much on temple? how much on biff? everyone has a different version of events and they’re all conflicting and no one knows what really happened except that biff ended up dead and temple can never, ever let that go.
temple is an unreliable narrator and is completely at fault for biff’s death and carolina had nothing to do with it: okay well you’ve made it even more boring than canon

i think i’ve learned a lot when it comes to not applying my own values to the media i consume
for my script analysis class yesterday, we discussed two gentleman from verona, and nearly every classmate of mine was up in arms about how sexist the story is.
and i'm not saying it's not, or that it's not infuriating to read. but i'm also not putting my energy into getting upset about something written 500 or so years ago. and i'm not about to put my own beliefs onto these characters that are not me. i'm going to let their choices speak for themselves, and interpret it in the context of the story.
all that said, this now brings me to the point of alastor in episode 5, and how viscerally people are responding to it. those of you up in arms about the choices he’s making, and the violent threat he gave husk, you’re missing the entire point of his character, of this place they’re in, of the story being told. he’s an overlord, and he became an overlord by killing much bigger overlords and broadcasting their deaths over the radio.
HE IS NOT A GOOD PERSON.
if you started this show with the belief that every character working the hotel is a good person, you’re in the wrong place. watch the good place if you’re looking for a good wholesome story about getting dead sinners into heaven, because that’s not what this show is about.
you’re more than welcome to hate him after seeing the way he exerted power over a being whose soul he owns, but you’re doing the media you’re watching a disservice by writing it off so quickly. if you don’t like to be uncomfortable watching media, watch something else. this is an uncomfortable show, it handles uncomfortable topics, and it’s going to be an uncomfortable ride, and if you’re not up for something like that, then you should take a break from it and pick up something else. you don’t have to get online and defend your own ideals while you watch a show that goes against your ideals.
#hazbin hotel spoilers#that’s not even touching on the fact that husk was an overlord too#he also owned souls that he used as currency to supply his gambling addiction#he’s also not a good person!!#the majority of these characters are in hell for a reason: they’re not good people#i quite frankly love the way this show blurs the lines between good and evil#our heroes are sinners and overlords and demons. while the enemies are angels. but that doesn’t mean our heroes are good people.#you HAAAVE to come to terms with that!! you have to stop seeing the world in black and white or you’re not going to survive this world#if you’re upset because alastor was cruel to husk fine! be upset! but explore why you’re taking yourself out of that world.#in this world sinners own other people. there’s no ifs ands or buts#‘oh alastor is a poc why would he own people’ he was a serial killer when he was alive do you really think you can apply your values to that#(and this is me speaking as a poc. specifically a mixed race poc.)#i cannot speak to who vivzie is as a person. but i’m interested in the message she’s writing and thus far i’m finding it compelling#it’s a similar story as the good place but it’s going the distance to explore even worse people than those in the good place#i don’t think it’s responsible to write something off just because unsavory things happen in it.#and she’s giving us so many different types of representation that don’t involve race (although we’re also getting a lot of hispanic rep)#just like cool your jets and maybe process some of the anger you’re feeling. and maybe nothing will change.#but if you act. instead of react. if you understand why you’re feeling some type of way and then make a choice.#that’s so much stronger and more responsible than reacting and not thinking anything through#hazbin hotel#alastor#husk#hazbin alastor#hazbin husk#anyway let me get off my soapbox#long post

we all have that one toxic self ship that our friends side-eye and grumble about—especially when we pull up to events with them as our plus one because they bring out the worst in us and we are truly insufferable to be around. but alas we can’t always pick winners!

okay essential now that u imagine with me. preteen millie, all awkward and acne-riddled, this socially stunted girl-thing that bobby has no idea what to do with whenever she’s left with him, the few times she’s left with him. (because sam and dean are “easy” because “boys are easy” but girls are supposed to be different. (bobby voice) boys play ball and girls like dolls, right?)
(not that millie would mind or even really notice if he just sort of left her to her own devices. she’s about as independent as a twelve year old can be. most of the other people john leaves her with have just sort of ignored her beyond the basics of making sure she’s fed and sleeping when she should.)
but one day, bobby drops a hat on her head and tells her to get bundled up, they’re going out. she already knows how to use a gun. there’s a little he doesn’t have to teach her, but a hell of a lot more he does, because monster hunting and hunting hunting are two different sports.
she likes this. a lot. she likes it more when bobby says her brothers are too squeamish for it. that dean doesn’t like how animals panic and flail when they don’t die quick enough, that sam didn’t want any part of it after the first time he tried and couldn’t get the glassy eyes of his kills out of his head. and at the end of the day, she’s got a turkey half as big as she is and she wants to know how to eat it.

whats fun about barry as a protagonist vs other Morally Complicated Guy Shows is that he seriously has no ambition lol, his wildest dreams arent like becoming super rich or relishing in holding power over people, like all he wants is simple happiness, maybe career success, normal life stuff, his wildest dreams are like…. being able to have a wedding. having a kid or two. and theres something reasonable about that, it makes him relatable for a while until the show is very clearly like No dude, that is a fucking serial killer, you should not gaf! and you’re like oh right lol. it’s crazy to make such a simple desire seem so malicious but still human
#like the true success of the show is that he feels just as entitled as walter white even though what he wants is so much smaller#L + serial killer + you’re a war criminal + you’re abusive + kys#barry#but i think it threads the line a little where by s5 of brba i had 0 care for walt i did not feel any emotional attachment#and tbh by the end i didnt even find the whole corruption arc interesting because he was just so painfully malignant and annoying#but barry wants sooooo little. and he’s sooooo stupid. and hes soooo arrested development 15 year old boy#that it still manages to be compelling and he still manages to feel like a human being#not a knock on brba which is incredible television obviously just doing different stuff#idk. something about how it’s tragic but also held at an appropriate distance so as to be laughed at too#like: the irremovable mark doing violence leaves on you.. the inescapability of it… IS sad! it’s sad#and most often IS the result of social conditioning and masculinity constructs and your dads friend grooming you etc#but it’s not the prime sadness. which would be of course the victims of that violence#like. duh#walter my reaction is just. Well i wouldnt do that. I would never choose to do that so who cares#but with barry. all he wants is to not be defined by the hurt he has caused. which is something everybody wants!#but the extents of that hurt are so extreme and are teased apart so well in the show. like theres 0 apologia just exploration#anyway if im doing brba comparisons barry is literally todd

So I'm rewatching season 9 episode 4 of Bones (as one do). And can I just say, I fucking hate, hate, hate the whole Pelant in love with Brennan thing. It just came out of nowhere! When I catch you Hart Hanson it's on sight. You ruined my good ol' boy couldn't something more original/funny have happened. I mean, you already made the guy a bit goofy (what do you mean he can write computer code on bone?!) So at least send him off to his death in some interesting way:(
