Summary:

Alright, so this is basically...an art dump for all the pics i drew when i was trying to draft the ending i wanted my Odile looping Au 'Like a Wheel Ever Turning' which...is not even SLIGHTLY how this fic is going to end now, but while figuring that out i still like draw all this and had to do SOMETHING with it.

So figured I'd post it and be like 'hey! fun Odile looping act 5 boss fight vibes not connected to anything else!' since like...that basic IS what they are at this point lol.

The one cool idea i loved that i think is now FIRMLY ditched is the act 5 boss fight starts when Odile uses wish craft to splinter herself into two halves.

The 'old/current' her that is meant to be her coldly logical side, and a younger 'copy' version, which is meant to be the childish irrational side...that is what's stopping her just shutting down the time loop because she can't figure out how to be happy with her friends leaving.

I mean, if you murder the part of you that WANTS the wish to come true, that's basically a 'get out of time loop free card' right? Right! Totally sound logic!

Yes the 'young' version of her firmly believes that she's real, and also also got memories going up to about age 21, and also that she ought to be in Ka Bue not HERE among these french weirdos.

Also yes again, a 'young' Odile is EXACTLY as unhinged about this as you'd expect a 21 year old to be upon finding out that apparently the 'real' her think murdering her is the correct solution to this problem!

The shift of the fight was meant to have the inverse 'colors' shift from one version to the other by the end, wrapping up with the point where the 'original' Odile is forced to have a heart to heart with the personification of her perceived 'worst' qualities.

Pretty sure the vibes for this ending was a lot more focused on the resolution of having deeply complex feeling about EXPRESSING emotion directly to other people. That along with a side helping of how isolating it is to be perceived as a 'real' adult such that you can't be weak enough to ask anyone for help. Because really if you can't even be that then why are you any different then when you were irritating mess of a youth?

Not saying any of that isn't still present in the story, but like...there is a LOT of other stuff going on, and those themes are now linked into many other ones too, and that's not even TOUCHING on how Loop's been...somewhat complicating my redrafting lol.

...Also I might have drawn/plotted this version before i knew about two-hats lol. THAT also is a factor.

Anyway! Still liked all of these enough to want to do SOMETHING with them, and figured this worked, so i could like map out my thoughts on them, even if i never got to write this.

After watching the Screen Rant interview, I want Season 3 of Prodigy without Admiral Janeway or Chakotay appearing at all. Holo Janeway is more than enough. Kate is clearly against J/C for whatever reason, and she even went after Brett for wanting Gwyn/Dal. I'd rather enjoy Season 3 with the Protostar kids only and not get frustrated with the J/C stuff. Please, I'm begging. Brett, my beloved.

Media and art are escapism. We live in super messed up times, and I just want two imaginary, make-believe characters to kiss so my mind can escape into something positive and feel the love that the world is so clearly missing. People find comfort in art and can feel a bit of love through imaginary characters in this messed up world. The rest of Prodigy is about hope; J/C is about (romantic) love, and it's a positive path to take, especially in times where men are being taught to hate women by idiots like Tate. And here you have a character, a man (Chakotay), who gives zero fucks about power dynamics and gender roles. We want them together as a middle finger to the gender roles imposed by social norms. Janeway hates to cook and do house chores, Chakotay does not. Janeway likes to be in command, Chakotay is fine being her support. They are breaking the tiresome stereotypes, and dunking on the shippers for wanting them to be together is just playing into the 'a strong woman can only be strong if she is forever alone' trope. It's an outdated mindset.

That is why Kate. For every girl and woman who was told repeatedly she'll be alone and that no man would want her because she didn't fit the gender role. Because she wanted to be in power and be loved at the same time. For daring to want both. Women can have both. Women are allowed to have both. Being in a romantic relationship is not weak, and it's freaking weird to be saying that having two characters be in a romantic relationship who clearly love each other beyond words would do them a disservice. What does that teach the kids? That you have to choose? That having a powerful bond and a romantic relationship is mutually exclusive? It's weird, and I'm tired of pretending that it's not.

My other housemate has only watched a few episodes from the ST marathon and none of the movies (and has kind of magically escaped a lot of pop culture awareness), but that was enough for her (someone with her own deep investment in very different fandoms) to be O_O at the Kirk and Spock interactions.

We were talking about how shitty the parent corporations etc were towards many slash shippers of the 70s and 80s, and she was like, "I don't really get why anyone would be mad about people seeing their particular relationship as romantic, it's just... this isn't coming out of nowhere. There's a lot of intensity and they obviously care deeply."

me: Yeah, the series finale includes Kirk saying that Spock is closer to him than anyone else in the universe.

Ash: Wait, really? Like, literally?

me: Yes. That's just about the exact wording, actually.

Dear author i just discovered "You were written in the stars" I just wanted to tell you how beautifully written it is. I found myself sighing and smiling like a lunatic in some. Very well written and I love the original storyline. I cant wait to read more of their love story and I hope they find their happily ever after especially after what they've experienced in life. Thank you for taking the time write this little gem.

Disney rewrote the blue milk lore, and it’s for the worst.

So the Blue milk was originally from Banthas, a local herd animal from Tatooine itself. One that’s been around for a very long time, seeing as the Sand people are so attached to them.

Disney decided to rewrite the milk lore for some reason, and make it originate from these elephant seal looking things. That live on an obscure coastal world that you need the force to find.

I’ve read a collection of short stories from Tatooine, a legends continuity book. All from different character’s perspectives.

Labria, the devil looking guy at the cantina, is from a cold planet. His people’s swear by the cold, and he’s confused by human swearing.

“The Emperor, may he Freeze.” “By the Cold, I’m a lousy spy.” The word for Cold meat is a swear that gets lost in translation.

So naturally, being from a very cold world, he had to invest in a cooling system for his little apartment in Mos Eisly. That cooling system is terribly overpriced and takes hours and hours to get to the right temperature for him to be comfortable.

Milk is perishable, you would have to pay to keep it cold if you shipped it from some other planet to Tatooine. It would be risky to drink because sellers could be running the bare minimum cooling systems to save money. Or they could get scammed into buying a faulty cooling system and unintentionally make someone sick. Jawas could take components from a shipping freight if it wasn’t guarded.

All of that means blue milk imported from off world would be ridiculously expensive and highly risky to consume. That. Is not taking off with the folks living on Tatooine. They could buy hard liquor for the same or better price, so why waste income on this milk?

But if the milk is from Banthas, it’s automatically going to be cheaper and safer to drink. Moisture farmers can raise these native herd animals for their milk and save the water to sell.

They can ship the milk or other dairy products made with it to town for a much lower price; it doesn’t have to shipped nearly as far, which also reduces the chances of it spoiling and giving someone botulism.

That being said, it’s stupid that Luke would waste hours of his day going to the hard to reach coast, just to get milk. The man is an excellent pilot but decided not to build or buy a skiff or land speeder. Tatooine is known for moisture boys becoming pilots because they have to drive so far! He and his Tatooine friends all love tinkering and piloting.

He could have had a paddock off the beaten path of the ancient huts on that planet, with Banthas or some other hoofed animal for meat/milk. Luke Skywalker is a farmer. Him farming near the village could help explain why the caretakers have let him live there for 14 years when he isn’t even a practicing Jedi, using the planet to grow in his faith.

Disney, you couldn’t even write about milk properly, and you brought it back up in the first place. smh.
