A few things:  

You’ll notice on this form that it’s pretty basic, generic—this is gathering information for both writers and artists! Once I have this information, I’ll export it to an excel spreadsheet and from there, anyone who signed up as a writer will receive an email by no later than 6 JANUARY 2025 

In that email, I’ll ask for a basic breakdown of the fic that you’re writing, including a brief summary, pairing, rating and 3 key points you’ll want to touch on during that fic.  

Once you sign up, you are free to start on this fic—however that may be, with an outline or just outright writing it.  

Artists, on 13 JANUARY 2025 you’ll receive a link to a sign-up sheet with the information I’ve collected from the writers, there will be NO names included with this information, so you’ll be picking based on the summary, pairing, rating and key points.    

Once picking has closed, you’ll receive an email with you and your partner included, this will be a brief introduction email giving you a way to contact your partner. From there it is up to you to make contact with the person you’re working with. If you haven’t heard from your partner in 10 days, please contact me and I’ll reach out to them for you.  

There will be a couple of check ins on 15 FEBRUARY 2025 and 10 MARCH 2025 these are just to gauge where you are and if you’re needing an extension! Be truthful and don’t let this bog you down, I’m here for you!  

Once we reach the end of the writing/art period, you’ll receive another email with posting dates! Depending on how many people sign up, we may spread this over the span of a few weeks! You’ll pick a day from the ones listed and in agreement with your partner, you’ll post your works! As long as it’s during your timezone of the day you chose, that’s all that matters!  

There’s an AO3 collection for this! But feel free to also post and share on tumblr! Comments and reblogs will be doled out for everyone!  

You’ll notice on the signup sheet that there’s an option for Pinch Hitter (Artist)/Pinch Hitter (Writer), please only select that if you are comfortable pitching in if an Artist or Writer drops out and leaves someone without a partner! This means you will most likely write more than one fic or create multiple pieces!  

A few more details:  

Writers: Your fic must be at the minimum 5k but you can always write more!  

Artists: There must be at least 2 accompanying pieces of art for the fic you’ve chosen! This can include things like banners, scene breaks, traditional art, digital art, manips, mood boards, etc!

This event is 18+, and as such, you must have your age in your bio somewhere, whether it be an exact one or an age range.  

We are all adults here and we’re here to have fun in our little fandom. If something happens and you need mediation, please reach out to me either by email, tumblr DM or discord.  

Do not under any circumstance knowingly engage with content you do not like; this includes purposefully picking a fic idea you do not like specifically to spread hate about the creator. If you are found doing this, you will be kicked from the mini bang. This also extends to bullying in public spaces i.e discord or tumblr.  

Beta reading is not required for this event, but feel free to have someone read over it if you’d like! Your artist (if they have time), a friend you usually ask to beta read your work. Unless there’s a need, I don’t think there’ll be any beta reader signups for this one, but if anyone would like to be put on a list of people to reach out to if a writer needs someone to look their fic over, then let me know!  

Have fun! If at any point in time you feel like you’re running out of time/you’re not going to finish by the deadline, then reach out to me and we’ll set up an extension! This isn’t a college essay; there’s no penalty for posting past the due date.  

I’d rather extend this for half the year than ever make someone feel like they’re being rushed to complete something for a hobby!

Welcome to the third annual Sailor Moon Rare Pair Week! The event will take place from March 24th - March 30th, 2024, but I'm announcing the themes early to give everyone plenty of time to create their fanworks.

What counts as a rare pair for this event, you ask? Any pairing that isn't Usagi/Mamoru (or any of their incarnations), pretty much! (Don’t get too hung up on the word “rare”. Just roll with it, okay?) They usually have their own week, so this event is a chance for fans to show their love for pairings other than the Miracle Romance, canon or not. You can even include poly, platonic, and cross-over ships, if you'd like! Almost anything goes, as long as you follow some simple guidelines.

Fanworks should somehow incorporate the one of the day's themes. (You can pick just one; you don't have to use both.) How you choose the interpret the theme is up to you!

A non-UsaMamo pair must be the MAIN focus of the work (although Usagi/Mamoru can appear as a side pairing or as part of a polycule).

All ratings allowed.

No smut involving underage characters, which I'm defining as under 18 years old. Otherwise, as long as the characters are portrayed as adults in the fanwork, go wild! Just please make sure to properly tag.

Fanfics should be a minimum of 500 words. Poetry may be shorter, though. I ship sebaciel but I only like their dynamic, in my head I imagine an adult Ciel and I only read fanfics when Ciel is way over 18 and can decide by himself/not be manipulated. I was raped when I was 15, I could never ship something like that. But anti pro shippers never bother to see the nuance. I'm afraid if I start publicly shipping it, people will call me a pedo lol Also I think that the ones who like the age gap still can't be compared to real pedos who consume lolicon/ realistic drawings who REALLY resemble children and explicitly are in a setting of a child being molested. I see incels doing that, and the kuro fandom is mostly women.

Hi, anon. Sorry I didn’t reply yesterday. I had COVID a couple weeks ago and now have bronchitis and i just ran out of gas to formulate a response I felt this ask merited.

First of all, I’m sorry that happened to you. I hope you’ve been able to get past it enough that it doesn’t affect your daily life too badly 🫂.

Sadly, a lot of antis act as if they’re the only ones who have been victims of (sexual) abuse, and that any survivor who doesn’t behave the way they do either must be lying or “deserved” what they got— which is absolutely awful to do to anyone.

As I’m sure you’re aware, we’re not a monolith. Some survivors find rape play (whether role play or in fictional works) helps them move past their trauma because it helps them to have the control they didn’t have as victims. But others find it triggering and upsetting and not helpful at all— and that’s valid too.

I personally don’t ship sc anymore mostly because I just don’t click with Ciel in the ship the way I do with other pairings. I also personally get very very uncomfortable with some underage depictions. For example, there was a fantastic sc fan fic a few years ago that I had to stop reading. It is one of the best written works in the fandom, but it just made me so uncomfortable (it’s underage) I had to stop.

But what did I do? Did i leave the author an angry message saying I was not gonna read it? No, ofc not. I just clicked away.

So if for you, you need situations in which you feel Ciel can fully consent/is in control to feel comfortable and happy then that’s perfectly valid! There’s no one “right” way to ship anything, and you have to look out for yourself first. Because we come to fandom to have fun and escape, so no need to delve into things you don’t like or that make you uncomfortable.

Antis are incapable of seeing these kinds of nuances, or realizing that purposefully consuming content that upsets you is self harm.

Sadly, if you openly ship sc (or even aren’t absolutely against it) you may get some hate. I know I have gotten my share, and it’s *always* about Ciel, no matter how I’ve depicted other characters or what ages they are in my stories. But I’ve also gotten hate for being a fujoshi (misgendering me at that) more than once, and some of it even before I joined the fandom… for my original work.

My point is that people are gonna attack you if they’re gonna attack you…. if you’re not willing to take that risk by being public about your ship that’s valid too. I definitely get how exhausting antis can be and if you’re just wanting to stare at your blorbos for a bit you don’t wanna be fighting of negativity left and right too.

It’s a shame that antis have started using the word pedo as a word for anyone they dislike, devaluing it, but the real shame imo is that they refuse to see that actual CSEM is bad not because it’s gross or immoral but because it harms actual children, who grow up to be adults with trauma.

I think it’s very important to distinguish actual CSEM (or “fictional works” that were intentionally modeled off real CSEM) from anything that’s purely fictional. Because you can never really know why someone made something or why someone likes something.

I write about child abuse, sexual and not, a lot because I find it very therapeutic, but someone might read my works and may draw other, completely erroneous conclusions about me and my motives.

I honestly think a huge chunk of the kuro fandom is nonbinary, but I don’t really know the demographics. I’m sure they’re slightly different depending on if you’re looking at the western or eastern fandoms…

But women can be toxic just like anyone else. Some of the absolute most vile antis I’ve seen identify as female.

Ultimately, I think that the best thing to do with the fandom (or any fandom, really) is to curate your experience. Block accounts that trigger you or don’t vibe with you. Find like-minded friends to chat with in private, so you don’t have to worry about strangers hopping on what you say. Filter tags and use apps if you need to.

I think it’s a shame that antis are so vocal in the fandom and have divided it so much. As a multishipper not much into sc, I have definitely felt that fracture more than some others, since sadly too many non-sc shippers think they need to scream about how icky that ship is and be jerks when we could just ignore sc entirely and enjoy the other ships we like instead together?

But the no matter what antis claim, sc shippers have always been and will always be the column that holds the fandom up, and you either need to make peace with it or learn to ignore it.

We're seeking writers, artists, and concept designers to join in. While writing is the main focus, all contributions are welcome. I’ve drawn inspiration from creators like LovesArt23, Kaldeya, and others, and I’m blending in my own characters and lore.

Animators and concept artists won’t have too much work since this project focuses on writing, but fresh visuals are always appreciated!

Any type of media content is allowed! This includes fanfic, fanart, crafts, edits or photomanips, cosplay photos or any other kind of content you can think of! But... any art, fic, or other media you post must be made by you! This means no AI art or writing (including AI “assisted” fic), and no art theft or edits made with others’ art without their permission. However, collaborative works made with other creators are welcome! You can use the movie or comic versions of Hobie and Pavitr, in canon-verse or any AU you want! Poly ships such as goldenpunksong are allowed! As long as goldenpunk is included.

Upcoming Collection of Trans* Fannibal Experiences

Adapt. Evolve. Become: The Genderqueer Fandom of Hannibal

Submissions close 1st March 2023 *Trans in this instance is used as an umbrella term to include transgender, non-binary, genderqueer and otherwise non-cis people.  We have not sought to exclude intersex people in this definition, however not all intersex people identify as trans* and those who do are included under the above umbrella.

For TransHanniDay 2023 (8th April) we will be publishing a collection of fanfiction, essays, creative nonfiction, personal accounts and art about being non-cis in the Hannibal Fandom. 

The show has resonated with many queer fans, and we know that being in the Hannibal, Hannigram and Hannibal Extended Universe fandom, and the support of Fannibals has been part of many people's gender identity journeys. We want to capture that in a fandom led volume of fanfiction and non-fiction, featuring essays, creative nonfiction, personal accounts and art. If you are interested in contributing please read on!

Via one of the above mediums, we want you to explore with us in as much or little detail as you’d like, your journey as a non-cis Fannibal in the Hannibal fandom, and/or the impact NBCs Hannibal has had on your gender journey. 

A few points for consideration you may wish to explore: 

Whilst fanfiction will be accepted, our preference is for stories that explore what it is to be trans*

Has the show and/or being part of the fandom helped you explore your gender, or made you feel more confident in expressing it - even if only online. 

Has the fandom helped you with your transition and/or medical needs, such as donating for trans-clothing or surgeries? 

Do you want to write an essay exploring the connection between NBCs Hannibal and non-cis fans? Or perhaps one arguing that Will Graham is trans-coded?

Do you want to submit art of Hannibal, Will or another character that expresses how you feel about your own gender identity?

PLEASE NOTE: if your submission is successful you are welcome to use your real name or an online handle for authorship, but you will have the option to publish anonymously or under a pseudonym if you would prefer. 

Word counts: 

Minimum of 100 words Maximum of 7000 words  We would prefer to keep the word count around 3000, but understand that essays and fanfiction for example may go up to 7000 words, which is our maximum limit. 

Art submissions must come with a summary of your experience and/or what you are expressing in the art, this need not be more than a few sentences. 

Compensation: As a fan-led project we do not have any funding and so cannot offer monetary compensation. However, all contributors will receive at the least an e-copy of the collection. 

Due to the timeline it is unlikely we’ll be able to produce print copies, however if we are able to make print copies available these will either by not for profit or the resultant proceeds will be donated to appropriate charities.

Content Restrictions: 

Contributors must be transgender, non-binary, genderqueer or otherwise non-cis 

Contributions must relate to NBCs Hannibal and/or the fandom

The contribution must be your original work

Non-fiction: reprints maybe accepted, please query us via twitter or tumblr

Fanfiction: this can be old fanfic, including fic previously posted online including AO3

Fanart: this can be old fanart, including any previously published online

Explicit works are allowed, however more graphic works might not be accepted

It should go without saying, but we will not accept bigotry and hate speech: We may consider works that feature these things but do not glorify them. For example, we will consider works that discuss transphobia but not works that are transphobic.

Will there be automatic acceptances?

As this is all about personal experiences and relationships to the subject matter rather than a theme, we’re not going to be looking at it in the same way as other fanthologies might. That said, there won’t be any automatic acceptances, we will have to have a limit depending on the number of submissions. 

It is likely that all accepted pieces will be lightly edited for readability, but there will be no changes to the essence of the works.

What is Trans Hannigram Day?

Trans Hannigram Day or TransHanniDay is a day of celebration for trans* fanworks and creators in the Hannibal, Hannigram and Hannibal Extended Universe fandom. On this day old and new fanworks are shared with the intention of filling the timeline with trans* love!

Originally this event was Transcendence Fest, first held in December 2020. The first TransHanniDay was held on 8th April in 2022 in reaction to the release of a certain movie on that day.

Will this collection only be focused on Hannigram?

Technically the focus is on the fans, but we know the influence of NBCs Hannibal and the fandom itself goes beyond Hannigram. Both in written works and in art, other characters are accepted including those from NBCs Hannibal and those from other Mads and Hugh projects (Hannibal Extended Universe). 

For example, if Bedelia De Maurier or Adam Raki resonated with you as part of your gender journey, we’d love to hear about it. 

How can I prove I’m Trans*?

We aren't expecting you to and in no way expect you to out yourself either online or in real life. We will take on trust that you are who and what you say you are, including if you are questioning, between labels or do not like to use labels. 

As noted above, those who would feel more comfortable doing so, can have their work published under a pseudonym or anonymously. 

Who is publishing this collection?

This collection will be edited and published by Max Turner. Max is a gay transgender writer based in the UK, a Fannibal and the publisher of online publication A Coup of Owls. 

This publication will not be associated with A Coup of Owls, but will receive some promotion.

Lukanette Big Bang FAQ!

Q: What’s a big bang event?

A big bang event is one designed for fandom, where during the course of the event, writers write a fic and are accompanied by an artist that draws art for the fic. This is a collaborative effort, designed to help bring users together to make something fun!

Q: What’s the Lukanette Big Bang event?

This event is just like the Miraculous Big Bang, which is held every year, where the goal is to write 10,000 words in the span of six months. However, the focus will be entirely on Lukanette! This means that Lukanette will be the end goal of the event, not any other ship for either of them. So long as the endgame is Luka Couffaine / Marinette Dupain-Cheng or a gen Luka Couffaine & Marinette Dupain-Cheng, other pairings are allowed in. The set amount of words required for the fic written will be decided in the Interest Check.

Q: What content is not allowed in?

The fic must end with Luka Couffaine / Marinette Dupain-Cheng. If you are writing a gen fic, it must end with Luka Couffaine & Marinette Dupain-Cheng. This event is focused on them two as a relationship, so it wouldn’t be allowed to put another ship as the main pairing. Everything else is fair game, but be warned: if your fic has elements to it that have any of the AO3 Archive Warning tags (Extreme Violence, Underage,...) you will have to specify that in your first check in. 

Q: Is there a Discord server? When can I join the Discord server?

Yes, there is a Discord server! You will be able to join the server after you have submitted your application form, and have received an approval email saying that you’ve been invited into the server. The email will have a link for you to join.

Q: I’m new to writing/artwork/beta reading, but I still want to apply. Is that okay?

Absolutely! There is no minimum requirement for the application process. Try it out!

Q: When can I start working on my fic? Do I have to wait until I join the server to start out on my fics?

You can start writing even before being admitted into the discord server! Just make sure that whatever you’re working on, you don’t post it onto AO3, or any other fic website, until the event is over.

Q: Do I have to post my fic in English?

Yes, please. This is an English event!

Q: Where can I apply?

Application links will be posted on this blog in February, for all three roles (Writer, Artist, Beta Reader). Each application will ask a few questions.

Q: What do I need to participate?

You’ll need an email address, a Discord user and if you’re applying as a writer, an AO3 account.

Q: Can I write NSFW works?

Absolutely! Please be aware that we only allow users who are 18+ to write NSFW in our event.

Q: Who is allowed to work on an NSFW fic?

For this event, you are only allowed to work on an NSFW fic if you are older than 18. This goes by the honour system; if we find out that you’ve lied about your age in order to do this, you will be banned from the project and from the server. No exceptions. We want to keep this event as safe as possible, both for minors and for adults.

Q: How do claims work?

There will be a project proposal within the event where writers will have to ultimately decide what they will be doing for the rest of the creation period. In that project proposal, writers will be asked to provide 2k words of their story, and this will be what artists see. All project proposals will be anonymous, to guarantee that there is no bias when an artist picks on what project to work on. As artists, they will have the option to list the fics they want and do not want. The moderators will walk writers through this, so that there is no confusion.

Q: If I apply and get accepted as a writer, is getting art for my fic guaranteed?

Not necessarily. We will do our best to get everyone a pair, but it is possible that a writer may go without an artist.

Q: How do check-ins work?

There will be a google form posted in the Discord one week before it is due. These check-ins are beneficial to moderators to see how progress is going, and if there is a problem we can facilitate. Questions about your progress, about your expected finished word count, and if you’re having issues with your partners, will be in the check-ins.

Q: Am I allowed to post my fics onto other platforms other than AO3?

Yes! Make sure that your fic is on AO3 as well, as this is an AO3-centered event. Please make sure that, if you have an artist working with you, they’re okay with you posting your work on another platform.

Nameless Feyd Fic Teaser

Feyd awakened something in me, and I've been puzzling over how to write it. I have to get this out of my head, but trying to add plot keeps getting in the way. It won't be the best written fic you've ever read, but we're all just trying to stay fed out here. Also I know basically nothing about tumblr, so help a girl out with the formatting, tags, etc.

Your cardinal rule was not to mix business and sex. The way he held your gaze, waiting to strike and devour you at any moment, you might be convinced to make an exception. 

You gently press the cloth at the hollow above your collarbone, letting two small rivulets of water trace down below the collar of your stillsuit. If you had your way, you would linger to enjoy the light breeze in the courtyard whispering across your dewy skin. Palace tradition dictates that you treat the luxury as trivial. Three quick dabs across your face, a quick press of moisture on your lips before dropping the cloth on the ground for the beggars to wring water from. Picking up your cases, you follow a servant inside. 

As you walked further and further down the halls, schlepping your cases, you thought this Harkonnen had better make a considerable purchase to warrant having called you here from Carthag. Perhaps some price adjustments are in order to make it worth the trouble. Originally, you had half a mind to refuse the request entirely, but had thought better of starting off on his bad side. Though Feyd-Rautha was reputed to be more cunning than his brother, but you didn’t suppose he would be any less vicious. Better to make the trip to Arrakeen than deal with the potential consequences of refusal. 

Finally, the servant stops in front of a set of doors. She meekly stands to the side, unmoving, gazing at the floor. 

“Do you mind?” you ask, gesturing towards the door handle with one of your cases. She shrinks further back against the wall. Sighing, you set down the case and knock on the door. You pull back your shoulders and lift your chin, ready to get this over with.

The door pulls open, but you cannot see who opens it. To your surprise, it is not a meeting hall, but a bedroom. No wonder it took so long to get here from the entrance. A tall, formidable frame rises from an armchair and slinks towards you. 

“You must be the Temptress,” he softly growls, the hairs at the nape of your neck seem to vibrate. “What have you brought for me?” 

“I’ll be glad to show you, na-baron, if there is somewhere I may set my cases. This is a rather… unconventional place for a meeting.” You pause, raising an eyebrow. There are no tables in the room, save a small end table next to the chair. 

“I thought you would prefer the unconventional,” he smirks, waiting for you to respond. You remain still. 

“The bed will suffice.”

As you lean to unlock the cases, you can feel him approach you from behind. He leans over your right shoulder, close enough for you to feel the heat radiating from his body. He reaches in front of you to retrieve an item from the case in front of your left hip, without making contact. You hate it when clients try to put their hands on you. Though he hasn’t touched you, the proximity has drawn your ire. You glance down at his hand, holding a flogger with metal tips.

“That one is quite a stinger. If you like a sharp, biting feel, I also have a selection of crops in the other case.” Feyd curves around you as you step to the side and click open the latch. With both hands, you pull out a handle with a long, thin reed. Feyd shakes his head. He presses a finger down along the cane, guiding you to put it back. 

“No? Alright. Tell me what you like, then.” You follow his gaze as he scans the toys, not lingering on any particular item. He runs a finger over clamps, harnesses, handles, then steps in between you and the bed, so you have to lift your head to look at him. His leg brushes your inner thigh.

“Is this it?” he asks. “With everything I’d heard about you, I thought surely you would have something I hadn’t tried before.”

 You grit your teeth, trying to tamp down on your irritation. You close one case lid, barely avoiding slamming it closed. 

“How was I to know what you have and haven’t tried before? I can’t carry my whole store here. If you want variety, you have to come to the shop. What a waste of time,” you huff.

You close the second case, and as you start to pull the handle, Feyd presses the case down into the bed. You snap your head to look at him. He’s grinning, mouth slightly agape. 

You yank the case out from under his hand and charge towards the door. He could have held his place, instead he lets your arm to his chest push him out of your path.

“Firey little pet” he calls out, but you round the corner without looking back. 

“Now, that’s something new.”

Author's note:

I'm returning with shorter chapters for this "Hashira Training Arc" (which will last around 3 chapters before the "Final Battle Arc"). I've been feeling a bit down lately, so writing shorter chapters seems more manageable. This arc also offers a brief respite for the characters before things get even tougher for everyone.

Your return to Komazawa was delayed to make a detour to the Butterfly Mansion at Kyojuro's insistence. He deemed it necessary for you to undergo a thorough examination due to your recent utilization of your Blood Demon Art. Given that he was transporting you during daylight hours, your objections couldn't stop him, even though you considered this stop entirely superfluous.

Upon arriving at the medical estate, the Flame Pillar received an urgent summons to an emergency meeting with the other Hashira. Consequently, he entrusted you to the care of Aoi, one of the few butterfly girls who was aware of your demonic nature. After a battery of tests, including bloodwork, she guided you to a room with thick curtains veiling the sunshine, granting you a secluded space to await your reunion with your childhood friend. As you reclined on the bed, a peculiar lethargy washed over you, plunging you into an irresistible slumber. How odd, you thought. You had never felt such an overwhelming fatigue since becoming a demon... But you fell deeply asleep before you could ponder about it.

"As some of you may know already, Kamado Nezuko has managed to conquer the sun." Ubuyashiki Amane officially announced during the Hashira's emergency meeting.

She was right: most of those in attendance had already caught wind of this feat. Since Nezuko's archievement, demons attacks had dwindled to an unprecedented scarcity. Paradoxically, what should have been a reason for jubilation now loomed as a foreboding sign, had predicted the bedridden Kisatsutai's leader.

The precognition abilities of the Ubuyashiki family were held in high regard, prompting Amane's recommendation that the Hashira redouble their training efforts to manifest their Demon Slayer Marks, a topic they delved into further as well. Presently, only Kamado Tanjiro, Tokito Muichiro, and Kanroji Mitsuri had awakened these distinctive marks. Kyojuro recalled encountering mentions of similar features in the memoirs of your ancestor Nagase Oai, which he had been keeping since you gifted it to him. It appeared that Oai had an Infinity-shaped mark, and that his own ancestor, Rengoku Genjuro, the second practitioner of the Flame Breathing, also possessed a fiery one. The enigmatic significance of these peculiar skin adornments had now become clear to him.

"I propose that we plan an extensive training regimen within the Kisatsutai," Gyomei declared once Amane had departed to take care of her sick husband. "Each Pillar will lead a training group, and all Slayers must participate sequentially. Mastery of one Pillar's teachings will be a prerequisite for advancing to the next exercise. Furthermore, inter-Pillar training sessions should be implemented to refine our techniques against adversaries of equal caliber."

"Hmm! I like this idea, Himejima!" Kyojuro exclaimed with enthusiasm, his fist clenched fervently before him. "By confronting numerous opponents and a few equals, we'll significantly enhance our chances of awakening our marks, just like Kanroji and Tokito did, all while preparing our subordinates for the impending battle!"

The other Hashira also hummed in approval of the Stone Pillar's proposal, though Shinobu and Giyuu voiced their decision not to participate.

"With one of my leg missing and the injury still healing, I don't think it would be wise that I train anyone. Besides, I have a considerable workload in the laboratory with Tamayo-san," the master of poisons explained apologetically. "I won't be able to devote my attention to both tasks, so I'll have to skip supervising our juniors."

"I won't join. It's a waste of time," the Water Pillar tersely stated.

"Oi, you fucking..." Sanemi nearly erupted at the seemingly insolent remark from the aloof warrior, but his outburst was quelled by Gyomei's thunderous clap of hands

"Enough. I will dispatch messenger crows to request the participation of former Hashira."

Without delay, he set his plan into motion. The previous Flame Pillar, Rengoku Shinjuro, immediately rejected the invitation by flinging an empty sake bottle at the crow. The retired Thunder Pillar, Kuwajima Jigoro, was not present at his home and did not respond to the note left to him. His friend, the former Water Pillar, Urokodaki Sakonji, agreed to assist but outside of the training grounds. Ultimately,  Tengen stood as the sole volunteer to lead the first training session, which focused on endurance. He even extended an invitation for another gathering to explore the specifics of their individual teachings while savoring one last moment of relaxation together.

... And that's how almost all of his former colleages agreed to join him at his splendid domain the evening after he confirmed his participation. They gathered around a colossal table, accompanied by Tengen and his wives. Notable absentees were, as expected, the Water Pillar, and quite surprisingly, the Flame Pillar.

"I wonder how Tomioka-san is going," Mitsuri thought outloud with her usual innocent and cheerful demeanor, her cheeks as rosy as ever. "Were you unable to convince him to join us this time, Shinobu? You seem a tad disapointed whenever he's not around."

"Why would I trouble myself with a man who rarely considers others?" Shinobu responded in a dispassionate tone, a smile gracing her lips though a vein of annoyance surfaced on her temple. Perhaps the Love Pillar's assessment wasn't entirely off the mark...

"Ohoh... you're emanating quite an irate melody today, Kocho. More than your usual, I mean," Tengen teased. "I've heard that the Water Pillar pays you a visit when he's feeling a bit down. I wonder about the nature of your meetings..." He flashed her a knowing grin.

"Ha," Muichiro interjected thoughtfully. "Now that I think about it, shortly after their return from their mission, I thought I saw Tomioka leaving Kocho's bedr-..."

"Oh! Rengoku-san! You're running late, that's unusual!" Shinobu exclaimed, beaming and clapping her hands together as she attempted to redirect the focus on the newcomer.

Her strategy proved effective. Upon Kyojuro's arrival, Tengen's eyes sparkled with excitement, and he declared, "Rengoku! I'm glad that you could join us after all. Without you, these evenings lack a certain fire!"

The Flame Pillar responded with an amused laugh as he took a seat beside his dear companion.

"Please accept my apologies for being tardy, my friends. I made a detour to Komazawa to greet my father and brother and inform them that I'll need our dojo for the upcoming weeks for the kata drills I will be organizing."

"Has Nagase-san awakened?" inquired Shinobu, her expression shifting to the seriousness she wore as a doctor.

"Not yet. I presume the use of her powers must have left her exhausted!"

Despite his boisterous and carefree demeanor, Kyojuro couldn't help but feel somewhat concerned about your prolonged slumber, which appeared rather unusual. However, Tanjiro had reassured him that this was a regular occurrence for his sister, urging him to divert his thoughts from the matter. The chekered haori boy argued that there was no point in lingering at your bedside, and his logic resonated with Kyojuro. Not one to sit idly, the Flame Pillar had decided to let you rest and join the evening's gathering.

Sitting across from him, Sanemi shot him a somewhat disdainful glance. The respect and sympathy that the Rengoku heir had garnered as Shinjuro's replacement had waned since your trial. Because of Kyojuro and his tsuguko, the Kisatsutai now counted two cursed beings among their ranks. However, since the Master had endorsed their presence and their missions had seen success, the Wind Pillar begrudgingly restrained his anger and complains.

Despite the underlying tension among some of the group's members, the Hashira's meal progressed smoothly and remained quite animated. Slightly intoxicated, Tengen observed his fiery friend closely.

"There's something different about you, Rengoku... your melody isn't quite the same as usual... there's something more... mature, shall we say," he mused with a sly grin, rubbing his chin. "Did you happen to finally lose your innocence on your last mission?"

Caught off guard, Kyojuro froze just as he was about to take a bite of tempura. Mitsuri choked on her food and quickly covered Muichiro's ears. Shinobu and Tengen's wives perked up with keen interest at this unexpected allegation. Obanai and Gyomei grimaced, not entirely approving of the direction the conversation was heading. The snake-like man oscillated his gaze apprehensively between the Flame Pillar and the Love Pillar. Meanwhile, Sanemi arched an eyebrow, a predatory smile playing on his lips.

"Really?" taunted the Wind Hashira. "Our virtuous defender of widows and orphans, who supposedly never has time for fun in brothels, has finally taken an interest in some lost cultist bitch, huh?"

"Not the most flamboyant choice, Rengoku! Don't bother preaching to us again after this," Tengen chided with a hint of amusement.

"Eeeeh? Why do you assume he did that with a cultist?" Mitsuri asked, her face completely flushed as she continued to shield Muichiro's ears, who was struggling unsuccessfully to free himself.

"Your hearing is as impressive as ever, Uzui, even if what you are paying attention to is rather questionable!" Kyojuro interjected, placing his chopsticks down and crossing his arms, an enigmatic smile playing on his lips. "In the interest of my own honor, I must correct you immediately: I haven't laid a hand on any of the Cult's followers."

"Oh! But you're not denying having sex with someone! Interesting! Who's the lucky person?" inquired the former Sound Hashira, although his playful expression somewhat fell as he began to anticipate the answer.

"Could it be Tomioka?" Shinobu teased, her expression also taking on a touch of concern. "I ask only because the alternative seems even less likely..."

"The alternative?" Mitsuri wondered, not yet fully grasping the implication.

"Nagase Kanoko!" Sanemi erupted angrily, abruptly rising from his seat and pointing an accusatory finger at the man before him. "Don't tell me you've slept with that demon!"

The excitement died down, replaced by a deafening silence. Kyojuro's smile waned in response to his colleague's hostile reaction. He maintained eye contact as he replied matter-of-factly, "Why the surprise, Shinazugawa? I love her, after all."

Sanemi thrashed the dish off the table and seized Kyojuro by the collar, hoisting him up. The Flame Pillar caught his opponent's wrist and assumed a defensive stance. He held firm to his principle of not harming humans, but he had no intention of allowing himself to be beaten up either.

"You damn bastard!" snarled the silver-haired man, his eyes bloodshot. "So all those noble words and demonstrations of bravery and selflessness were just an act, huh? You only think of yourself in the end!"

"Shinazugawa! Calm down!" the others tried to intervene.

"You're supposed to be a Hashira!" Sanemi indignantly reminded him while shaking him, his words dripping with fury. "From a damn lineage of Flame Pillars, no less! What example are you setting for our recruits if you're messing around with a demon, huh?"

With his free hand, the Wind Pillar began to rain blows upon his opponent, who deftly blocked them with his forearms while attempting to loosen the grip on his collar. It was hard, as their strengths were fairly evenly matched. Despite the surge of anger within him, Kyojuro staunchly refused to respond to his fellow Slayer's violence.

Fortunately, Tengen intervened, seizing the white-haired warrior from behind and forcibly separating the two men. Once freed, the Flame Hashira replied as calmly as possible.

"Still as energetic as ever, Shinazugawa! Don't fret too much about our subordinates. Kanoko has proven her worth many times as a Slayer, even in her current condition. And so have I! Moreover, there's no reason for them to be informed. It's none of their concern."

"You don't plan on getting married?" Tengen asked worriedly.

An official event would raise questions about the future wife of such a popular man as the Rengokus' heir and make it difficult to hide the forbidden union. A wedding was usually necessary to formalize a relationship, and he knew his friend was attached to traditions. Additionally, one of the main purpose of marriage was to prevent the birth of children out of wedlock and assure a legacy – but that issue did not concern demons, as they were sterile.

"No... I am aware that an official union would draw too much unwanted attention on us as long as she's cursed," Kyojuro answered dimly.

He refrained from mentioning that his father would attempt to kill both of you if he discovered your new nature and the fact his 'worthless' son had spared you. Not to mention the unprecedented shame his genitor would probably feel if he heard about your romantic relationship... Tengen felt a mixture of relief and sadness, seeing the visible regret in the Flame Pillar's expression. While the shinobi did not approve of the situation either, he couldn't bring himself to blame his friend and felt genuine compassion for him.

"Well... I believe we have no concerns regarding our recruits, Shinazugawa, so let's try to calm down," the evening's host attempted to placate his short-tempered comrade. "You heard the master: we must stay united, as the final battle against Kibutsuji and the Upper Moons is drawing near."

"Tch!" Sanemi spat, glaring at Kyojuro with hateful purple eyes. He broke free from the giant's grip, who released him cautiously. "I'm leaving. This sick bastard has ruined my appetite."

The Wind Pillar exited the room, sliding the shoji door shut behind him. The atmosphere around the table had turned notably chilly. Shinobu spoke first.

"Rengoku-san... this choice of partner is quite unexpected from you, even though you did admit to loving her when she was human... However, we must respect your decision. I hope everything goes well for both of you, and that our research with Tamayo will help find a cure for her and Nezuko. I honestly believe we're close to a breakthrough," she added, attempting to be encouraging.

"Thank you, Kocho," Kyojuro replied with a thin but grateful smile.

He resumed eating in silence, more slowly than before. Mitsuri and Tengen made a valiant effort to keep the conversation going after that, but it was evident that everyone was lost in thought. Eventually, the guests retired one by one at the end of the meal, until only the shinobi and his best friend remained.

"Don't you want to share a drink with me, Rengoku?" the former Sound Pillar asked. "I know you usually don't drink, but let's make an exception. It's been a tough day, and the days to come don't look any better. Even a tecanious guy like you needs to unwind."

Kyojuro hesitated for a long moment but eventually accepted a glass of sake, although he barely touched it. The gesture of camaraderie was enough to please Tengen, who drank directly from the bottle.

"Well... putting aside this demon business. How was it? I hope you did it flamboyantly thanks to my instructions," he asked with a wink.

Kyojuro stared at him with a blank expression, then chuckled heartily in response. Taking ghostly sips from his cup, he shared some news with his dear friend and engaged in carefree conversation for the rest of the night...

Taisho Secret: The former Sound Pillar can draw and paint very well. It's possible that, has the circumstances of his lifetime and upbringing being different, he would have made something of this artistic talent. He used this skill to draw explicit images for his best friend to illustrate his sex education courses. Kyojuro is a diligent student, so he studied and memorized them thoughtfully but swiftly burned them afterwards, embarrassed at the idea of being caught with them.
