bf vinnie x gf mom reader
reader visits the hype house for the first time with her daughter. None of them knew she had a baby besides vinnie(11 months ) from a toxic relationship before, mia starts to be bitchy toward reader on how shes using vinnie and vinnie defends her.
PROTECTER
GF!MOM READER AWH STOP , imma need more (or bf!dad vinnie) 😇
pairing: vinnie hacker x fem!gf!mom reader
warnings: cussing, use of pet names, arguing, use of y/n, lmk if i missed anything !!
summary: you visit the hype house to see your boyfriend but things quickly take a turn
the minute you met vinnie you told him you had an eleven month old daughter, not wanting there to be any lies or miscommunication up front.
to your surprise, vinnie took the news well and had no problem with it. except for the fact he wanted to smash your toxic ex’s face in.
as the days passed and you saw vinnie more often, he started to become a regular thing, part off your routine.
the two of you took things slow, but he knew one thing was for certain — he wanted to make you his girl.
he didn’t care if anyone gave him shit for dating a girl who had a kid, he just knew his feelings, and knew what he wanted.
when he asked you to be his girlfriend you were over the moon excited, loving every little thing about the blonde man you had grown to know.
your daughter seemed to warm up to him too. he’d come by your apartment to see you, and she’d bring out all her toys and mumble incoherent words, since she was still learning to talk.
you loved watching vinnie interact with your daughter, it was the most precious thing to see. the way he’d so intently get into all the little toys she’d bring out, getting down to her level so she could understand him more.
your heart was full, you really thought nothing could get any better. the relationship between you and your ex had broken you to no end, so meeting vinnie really did make your lift so much brighter.
◛⑅·˚ ༘ ♡
vinnie had mentioned to you the first time you met that he was a content creator and was living in a house with other people that did the same thing he did.
you thought that was cool, how he had gotten an opportunity to meet new people and share the love and passion for the same thing he did.
today, you were going to his place for the first time with aurora. you had mentioned to vinnie not to let his roommates know that you had a kid.
nobody needed to know other than him, plus you hated the way people looked and judged you for being a younger mom.
vinnie had told you not to worry, that he’d never do anything like that unless you told him otherwise.
as you made your way to the front door, you held your daughter in your arms with her diaper bag on your back, ringing the doorbell and waiting for an answer.
you smiled at the man behind the door. “hey you,” he said, mirroring your smile. “hi aurora!”
vinnie tickled your daughters tummy, making her giggle and smile widely.
he stepped out of the way and let the two of you inside, closing the door behind you before wrapping his arm around you.
“everyone’s in the kitchen,” he stated. “you want me to put the diaper bag up in my room?” he asks.
you nod, setting aurora down and handing vinnie the backpack. you grab your daughters hand before turning to vinnie again.
“can i come with?” you ask. “i’m just a little nervous to meet them all with rory, don’t wanna be alone.”
vinnie smiles before kissing your cheek, he swings the bag over his shoulder and grabs aurora’s other hand.
“course you can,” he smiles. “come on rory.” he carefully helps the girl up the stairs with you.
once back downstairs, the three of you make it to the kitchen. vinnie’s hand is in yours while you hold your daughter on your hip.
everyone notices the three of you and smiles as you make your way farther into the kitchen. vinnie moves his hand to your back, rubbing small circles to try and calm your nerves.
you’ve only been here a few times, still feeling nervous around his friends. to add to it, you brought your daughter that no one knew about.
vinnie had told his friends he was seeing someone, but didn’t give them the detail that you had a daughter.
“hey guys,” vinnie greets as the three of you stand off to the side. “you guys remember y/n, right?”
last few times you were here you didn’t get much of a chance to officially meet vinnies roommates. you recognized faces, but not names.
a couple comes up to you, wide smiles on their faces as they greet you, telling you their names.
alex and kouvr is who you find out they are. you remember them now, them having been so nice to you the first time you were here.
vinnie smiles as his hand reaches yours, squeezing lightly as he watches you meet all his roommates.
“is this your sister?” kovur asks. it wasn’t an uncommon question, many people would ask if the toddler was your sister, not knowing your situation.
vinnie feels you squeeze his hand tighter and he kisses the side of your head in reassurance.
“this is my daughter, aurora.” you reply with a smile, looking at your daughter.
a girl with brunette hair who had been standing next to you assumed boyfriend scoffed, making you along with the other three people next to you turn your heads.
everyone could do the math, plus it was an easy thing to solve. you’re in your early twenties with an eleven month old on your hip.
“you look a little young to have a kid.” the girl retorts, walking closer to where you and vinnie stood.
you clutch aurora in your arms a bit tighter in a protective hold. you hated the judgment you got, the looks, the stares, everything that came with it.
vinnie sees your demeanor change and rubs his hand up your arm, trying to comfort you.
taking a deep breath, you try to push away the irritation and be civil.
“so?” the tone comes out more mean then you attended.
the girl scoffed with her hands on her hips. she had to be about the same age as you, and she was acting like a kid herself.
“you’re probably just using vinnie as a father figure for the father your daughter doesn’t have.”
that sentence alone pissed you off to no end. you wanted to hit her, anything to show how frustrated you are at her words.
you look down at your daughter, then at vinnie. he knew from the very start what he was getting himself into.
he wasn’t here to replace aurora’s father, not yet anyways. vinnie didn’t even know if this would last, let alone be a step-father to an eleven month old.
“mia calm down, she is not using me.” vinnie cuts in, trying to calm the girl down.
mia scoffs, rolling her eyes at the two of you. “how do you know?” she asks. “how do you know she’s not gonna beg you for some kind of money?”
you can’t help but laugh softly. mia and vinnie look at you for a minute before turning to face each other.
“i know because i know her,” he says sternly. “she is the most kindest, loving, supportive mother i know. she doesn’t need my money, hell, she doesn’t even want it.” vinnie states, making you smile.
you smile at vinnie, grabbing his hand before you hear him continue to defend you.
“if she wanted my money, she would’ve taken it and ran already. y/n wants me for me, mia. i don’t mind if she’s got a kid or not, i’ll love her and aurora until the day i die if it means i get to be with the two of them.”
you almost cry at his words, loving the way he stood up for you. hugging aurora tightly, you look at vinnie as he gives you a smile.
mia on the other hand, just huffs and walks away, leaving it to just the three of you.
“you didn’t have to do that, baby.” you whisper to the boy in front of you.
vinnie smiles and grabs your free hand. “i’m glad i did,” he smiles. “i mean what i said too.” he finishes, making you furrow your eyebrows.
“what i said about loving you and rory until the day i die if it means i get to spend the rest of my life with you.” he repeats.
this wasn’t him proposing, it was too soon for that. this was him telling you he has no intentions of leaving.
a few minutes ago he didn’t think this would last, but now, now he knows what he wants.
vinnie smiles at you as he leans in, hand finding its way to your hip as he presses a gentle, soft kiss to your lips.
you met the guy of your dreams. one that you know will love you and your daughter unconditionally. one that you see becoming a great dad.
you smile against him when the two of you pull away. aurora started whining in your arms and the two of you looked at her.
“whatcha’ want, rory?” vinnie asks softly, stroking her cheek softly.
the girl points to vinnie and you smile. she’s never really wanted someone other than you to hold her, so this was a big step.
you handed your daughter to your boyfriend, aurora smiled widely.
“there’s my girl.” he says, tickling the girl.
you look at your boyfriend with a playful smile on your face. “oh so rory’s your girl now?” you playfully tease.
vinnie looks at you and laughs, he thinks you look adorable like this.
“you know you’re my number one, get in here.” he says, holding out his free arm for you.
you smile and walk right into his arms. he wraps his arm around you and you kiss his cheek before aurora’s.
“my girls.” vinnie says softly as he holds you protectively, making you smile.
you could definitely get used to this feeling.
hiii i absolutely loved writing this , thank you for the request !!!!
i hope you all enjoyed as well !! <3

The Lizzie Bennet Diaries
Everyone who knows me knows how obsessed I am over P&P so when I read a Tumblr thread on Pinterest that said that this is one of the best things in the world... okay I didn't watch it instantly cos I'm prejudiced (badumtss) BUT a few years later, I found another thread that says it's amazing and people should go watch it and I'm bored so I thought, "alright?? maybe i WILL watch it????". And I did and it was the BEST FREAKING THING IN THE WORLD OMG.
I've watched the BBC and 2005 version and while I loooveee both versions equally in my heart of hearts, I think this version perfectly encapsulates my idea of Jane when I read the book. Jane was described in the book by Mrs Hurst and Caroline as "a sweet girl". In fact Jane was the only one in the Bennet family who received a compliment from both their judgy ass which further proves just how sweet Jane really was. And the actress totally nailed it, she was so soft-spoken and calm and good natured, when you see her all you can really think about was, "Oh my God she's so sweet".
Charles Bingley/Bing Lee's charac is much more nuanced in here and when you look at what he did to Jane in a modern eye, you might dislike him just a bit honestly. But I guess in this version, their feelings were mutual and they both knew that. In the regency era versions, he didn't know Jane's feelings because she's shy and didn't show it much and along with her family being soooo embarrassing, he was persuaded to end the "engagement" by the people whose opinions he hold in the highest favor. He fully redeemed himself tho the moment he knew and in all the versions, you just couldn't help but like him in the end cos he's an overall good guy and good person just surrounded by judgmental people lol.
Wickham's a first class a-hole, I hated him before but now I LOATHE him, he's a HORRIBLE person hope he dies a most painful death. Meanwhile Lydia, I looove her in this version. I can't believe I'd say this really, it sounds so crazy but yes I do love Lydia. I think she was a victim of her choices but she shouldn't be held majorly accountable for that. She's a kid, she didn't know better but when she did, she gained a lot of wisdom from it.
Lizzie couldn't be more relatable—she was relatable before but now with all the technology, it feels like she's speaking for my soul. Meanwhile Darcy is soooo dreamy, and much much more hilarious. Everytime he shows up I just wanna rewatch it all over again. He's also more intimidating tho in a sense probably bcs of his limited screen time and how the vlogs are structured to only see what Lizzie wants you to see and only what is sometimes taken from a camera "candidly". No other point of views and no other camera points that might suggest otherwise. The whole vlog was totally Lizzie, it's like travelling inside her mind and only knowing people through her. It was definitely a whole other experience to which I absolutely loveeee as I do like to experience P&P in different ways.
Kinda sad that I didn't get to watch it at the height of its popularity tho cos I can only imagine the hype?? the chaos?? the excitement for the next episode next week?? the intensity of waiting for Mr. Darcy to finally appear on screen?? It must've been sooo crazyyyyy
Overall it was 10/10 I can't believe I finished it in 2 DAYS WTHHHH I WAS SO OBSESSED

What the f-
UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HELLO EXCUSE ME WHAT-
Yeah. This is fine. This is great, even! I'm just scrolling around on Tumblr, havin a good time, then I see some asks talking about the new page and I get excited. I riot in my head, even! I squeal with joy because I absolutely adore your art!
Then Sonic pushes Shadow away and my heart breaks in half.
wtf /pos and /lh
I wanna psychoanalyze this so fuccin bad so I'm gonna try my best but everything is so clear and easy to see so idk how obvious this will all be. I'll have a TLDR at the end that will hopefully be shorter idfk
Also before I do that I just wanna say that I absolutely love THOAM and I'm so glad I've been along on such a crazy journey for this long. Love seeing your art evolve throughout the 2 years I've been here!
ok let's get on with it already-
---
Okay so the first thing I noticed is Sonic's demeanor in this entire chapter so far. Sonic wasn't necessarily pissed at Shadow before coming here, (I still fail to remember the name of their location) but he was a bit... He seemed angered to some degree. This obviously has to do with the lack of sleep he's been getting due to his incredibly painful transformation, and uh side note here, transforming on its own would be enough to make someone feel out of sorts. I totally understand why Sonic is acting odd, in this case.
Anyway, the point I'm making is that Shadow has slowly been testing Sonic's patience throughout this and the last chapter. In the last one, Shadow said something incredibly rude and impulsive, which lead to Sonic staying behind in the dorm while Shadow and Chip were getting mawled. He only came back because he knew they were in deep trouble. The hug he got from Shadow didn't really help all that much, even if it was a kind gesture and something the Ultimate Lifeform wouldn't typically do. Because, y'know, it's just a hug. People hug others all the time, and it's not even close to a real apology.
Then Chip stayed behind with Tails. And... Suddenly, Sonic took a complete 180!
Without Chip around, without Sonic's emotional support buddy, the blue blur is left with all these pent up emotions that he's been refusing to let out for a long time. The last time he cried was days ago when he accidentally attacked Amy, and for us, that was probably like 3-4 years ago at this point. He's hardly had enough time or room to really feel anything, and that leaves him all constipated and icky. Sure, he had to kind of mellow his real feelings when Chip was around because he's just a kid in Sonic's eyes, and when Sonic lashes out it impacts Chip in a bad way. This doesn't mean Sonic feels any better without Chip, because without him, there's no hype man to make him feel better. There are no comforting words or small chit-chats for the road and no pit stops to get snacks... It's just him and Shadow now, and since they're on a pretty important mission to, you know, fix the entire fucking world, there's like no time for breaks.
Combine all this with the fact that Sonic is stuck as a Werehog for this entire chapter, and for the entirety of this specific mission... Yeah, you've got a pretty cranky hedgehog. And here's the sad part in all of this: Sonic doesn't like feeling this angry and this alone, but no one seems to really understand him anymore. Not even Shadow. They don't know what it's like living two whole lives at once, having to go through all this pain and agony for so long and not able to tell a soul. They couldn't possibly comprehend!
So how should he feel when his closest companion makes an effort to understand, even just by a little bit?
---
TL;DR
Sonic is confused and angry at the world. He doesn't understand what to do or how to act, and without Chip's support and unintentional therapy, he's just kinda... Left to his thoughts. Shadow suddenly trying to help after being not very helpful for a while made things even more confusing, and the fact Shadow never told Sonic about the constant nighttime thing... Yeeeeeaaahhh, Sonic's not doing too hot.
Hope this wasn't too long and I hope Tumblr doesn't eat this up due to its length. Thanks so much for reading to the end and thanks for just being you. Because if you didn't exist the world would explode-
<3

Request for some Headcannons about Lips since we learned that he is/was a kindergarten teacher?
Wait the teacher thing is cannon?? I thought he was just a manny and the teacher thing was a popular hc (are mannys and teachers the same thing?-)
Well either way cannon or no I think it's a super cute idea so yes, lets have some teacher Lips headcannons!
-Like you said I picture him being more of a pre-school/kindergarten teacher, I just think he'd vibe so well with the younger kiddos
-If he did teach pre-school/kindergarten, this man is the number one at baby talk. Yes even better then the babies own mother have you heard him talk? This man will draw giggles from babies without even trying (speaking of he is such a cuddler when holding babies he gets so excited whenever he gets to hold em)
-He's the type of teacher I can imagine sometimes being accidentally referred to as dad or mum by his students and it literally makes his heart swell everytime
-The type of teacher to role with the punches during playtime. If the kids are painting, he's sitting by making sure they're having fun and not getting paint on too much equipment, if the kids wanna dance he'll stick some bouncy music on, if the kids wanna play hide and seek he'll make sure to hide in places that aren't too hard for them, or if he's the seeker he'll give the slower kids a few extra seconds to hide
-So this is a more sillier one but imagine Lips, cuz he speaks gibberish, being able to perfectly understand toddlers. When he was a teacher he has had full blown debates with two year olds over why chocolate chip biscuits are superior to raisin (he probably had those same lengthy, in depth debates over kiddie food with little Caleb and Lottie and it totally threw Floyd through a loop)
-Since Lips in the show is shown to know a LOT of famous people I don't think it's that far of a stretch to imagine he knows how to speak a few different languages, maybe also sign. He sometimes had to use sign to help with some of the kids and another language for any kids with a foreign tongue/just to help them learn if they where curious
-If he was a teacher to slightly older kids, like 6 year olds, I like to think of him as like the laid back substitute teacher every kid gets hyped about
-Floyd totally nominated Lips as Animal's babysitter when he had to had up on sleep. A tired Floyd would barely hobble into the room with baby Animal, hand him to Lips, then he'd proceed to sleep for the next seventeen hours. It probably took some time for Animal to warm up to Lips, who in his tiny child brain he just saw as some bizarre, fluffy, yellow thing, but eventually Lips got into a rhythm and babysitting became easier (he never quite nailed bathtime tho. None of the band really have-)
-With him working with kids he's probably got three bucket loads of patience. It's why he's so hella chill in the face of general chaos cuz more often then not he's faced worse when he was a teacher. Kids are chaos creating machines and Lips, though he loves them, knows better then to take his eyes off them for even a second
-Got so excited when he began to teach his students music, he'd play his trumpet for the kids and they'd love it! He'd also play his trumpet whenever the kids where playing something like knights and dragons for extra flare
-His students probably cried for HOURS when he was gonna join the band and he had to leave the school. Lips had to give a lot of cuddles to sooth them, eventually they all calmed down and spent the whole day having a little school party/disco before Lips had to go

You mentioning Game of Thrones season 8 is other undisclosed trauma.
I don't think I cried this much when Sirius Black and Dumbledore died.
Game of Thrones was other disappointed. I just hate how the writers build up the hype from the beginning and they just let it ruin without any legit context.
Gege did one thing I never liked about writer that is to take away key character from the plot. Whose importance to whole story is indisputable.
My mind is numb at this point, I just don't wanna think about it. So I'm avoiding it.
Thanks for Another level, at this point that is my canon and I have a good cry after re-reading it since yesterday. To be honest I'm re-reading all of my favorite Gojo Satoru's fanfic.
I can't wait for Professor au, being in academic myself it's very exciting to see an au of the same field❤️
OKAY.
So here's the thing. Kiko is about to fucking RANT.
So it's below the cut 🙃
I didn't ever watch GoT. But I saw what happened and absolutely hated that it felt like reverse character development for the sake of time.
My best friend and I have had conversations about character deaths and the impact they have a lot. Here's the thing that I feel JKR did very well: death. She covered death so well in Harry Potter. None of the deaths felt meaningless or like they didn't fit. Sirius had to die in order for Harry to become the man he became. His death was something that was devastating and we felt the pain with Harry. But it drove the story forward, genuinely. Dumbledore had to die in order for the climax to happen. Because the entire fucking point was that Voldemort was afraid of Dumbledore. His death, the way it happened, how powerless Harry felt, was so well done. People can hate on JKR as a person all they want, but she is an incredibly skilled and talented storyteller. She shaped an entire generation of book lovers. And she did a very good job.
The Harry Potter series was well-paced and just well-written. And I had many friends in grad school who were getting their MAs and PhDs in literature because Harry Potter put them on that path to loving reading.
It's also not just Harry Potter. Not to be a JKR stan, but her detective series is actually very good. It's tense and it's got a will-they/won't-they romantic undertone. For every single book of that series, I actually haven't been able to figure out who the killer is before it's revealed in the end, but it always makes sense. That is such good writing.
Gojo's death felt sudden and like it will stunt the plot instead of help it grow. None of the kids are ready to fight Sukuna. Not a single person there could beat Gojo in a fight, so why are we supposed to believe that they'll be able to beat Sukuna? As much as I adore Yuuta, he's not ready to face Sukuna. Yuuji sure as hell isn't ready, but I can see them pulling some dumbass protag bullshit to make him ready. Hakari and Yuuta together might be able to kill Sukuna. But Gojo had the best odds and looked like he was beating the shit outta him.
But what do I know? I'm not a sadistic asshole who enjoys breaking fans hearts 🙃
As for academia in Physical Paradox: I will say that it isn't going to be as dramatic as real academia 😂 I spent a few years in it, and while I enjoyed aspects of it, academic politics made me want to burn the entire campus down. There will be some dramatics, but they won't be as extreme because this is a fluffy AU where everything works out in the end because I say so 😬🥹

Tommy Boy
Hi I know that technically Specs and Tommy tied But I didn't want to make any of y'all to wait any longer I'm so sorry to that one specific person who always reblogs our polls with Specs hype
T/W for transphobia & Refuge talk below the break
Quickfire Favorites
Food: “Pepp’mints! Really like the sof’ ones.”
Color: “Yella. Like the sun. N sunflowers.”
Season: “I don’ have a pa’ticler favorite season.”
Weather: “Sunny. I like sunny days ‘cos then I get to walk ‘round an’ hawk wit’ me fellas.”
Hobby: “Jacobi le’me help in the kitchen once. That was real fun. Wish he woul’ le’me do it again.”
Animal: “Do Blink count? I’on think I knows ‘nough animals to have a favorite.”
Memory: “Movin’ to Manhattan. Ev’ryone was real nice. Finch was gon’ fight ev’ryone that ain’t get my gender right.”
Comfort Item: “I don’t really got one. Ain’t never really had nothin’ to keep.”
Buckle up folks, this one’s real fucked up
Tommy Boy pretends to hate his nickname but it makes him feel fluttery inside. He rolls his eyes and groans and shoves Finch every time he says Tommy Boy/my main man/my home boy/anything else with boy or man. But it makes him giddy and excited
Because he’s a boy
And he knows all the others would fight for him
And that makes him feel real nice
Only knows how to solve things with his fist (but he and Albert are learning together)
He’s also still learning how to take compassion from the newsies. And how to not flinch when the others go to high five or hug him
Because non pain inducing hands on him is weird
He puts his hands in his pockets because he’s scared of hurting his friends or scaring them
He tells everyone it’s so he doesn’t get pickpocketed
Surprisingly good at cooking
Honestly dumb as fuck
Like most of the newsies have either street or book smarts
Tommy has neither
Puts the sexy in dyslexia
Thinks he can do no wrong
Not in a pretentious way
In a “I just learned I had dyslexia, something I’ve been angry about my whole life, but when someone explained what it was to me, it doesn’t bother me anymore. It’s just a part of me and that’s neat” like a psychopath
Just kinda very aware of the fact that no one is made perfectly, and has come to terms with that
Likes to pull pranks
No longer dumb enough to pull them on Elmer or Davey
Because they always know
And they know where he hides
And that’s not fair
He’s an angry crier. And he hates it. He hates crying, it makes him feel weaker than he already does when his emotions get the better of him
When he’s only a little mad, he yells to try and feel bigger (it’s a defense mechanism), if it gets worse he starts crying (even though he tries and fights it), and if it keeps getting worse he starts hitting things (he usually turns his anger to trees or punching bags. Inanimate objects. He doesn’t like hurting people), but it’s when he goes silent that’s the scariest. Because no one can tell what he’s thinking or what’s gonna happen. And he just stews in it
Loves music. Prefers music without words, but hates classical music.
When he gets affectionate, he likes holding people (and by people I mean Mush and Specs and Blink and occasionally Finch) but when he gets real deep in his head he needs to be held and his hair played with and just told that everything’s gonna be okay. His head is a dark fucking place. And he sometimes needs help finding his way out.
Jojo used to attack him with cuddles and hugs when he’d get too wound up
That earned Jojo several black eyes when they were first happening
“I love you Tommy Boy”
“Fuck you”
Flirty comments come easy to him. Except when it comes to his partners. They make him so nervous
Was really wary of Les and Davey hanging around, because they felt like outsiders, but Les once roasted Morris so hard that Tommy laughed for at least half an hour. He stayed close to Les when the brothers would come around.
He didn't wanna miss anything else the kid said.
Originally from Brooklyn, but they were too rowdy and angry, he kept getting triggered into panic attacks (and also a few of them kept deadnaming and misgendering him) so he moved to Manhattan
Most of the newsies that don’t know him are intimidated.
“That’s Tommy from Brooklyn… I hear they kicked him ‘cross the bridge because he was too wild for even Spot Conlon”
Doesn’t care about the rumors. He’s okay with intimidating the people he doesn’t know.
Real fucked up backstory shit:
His birth name was Tamsyn, and he had a twin brother named Thomas.
His brother was the first person he’d told about feeling more like a boy than a girl. And Thomas was so supportive of him.
And one day, Thomas disappeared.
Tommy’s dad wouldn’t tell him what happened, just that Tommy didn’t have a brother anymore.
And Tommy knew that he was in danger. And he ran away. He stole some clothes to blend in with the newsboys on the street, got sent to the Refuge for three months, where he was kept in the feminine section of the prison.
Tommy was originally sentenced to one month, but he fought against Snyder when he tried to take Bumlets away, once he realized what was happening.
He stood up for others in the Refuge who were getting bullied and abused by Snyder.
He ended up at the Brooklyn boarding house not long after his release. He’d gotten tougher and buff while in the Refuge, and he’d finally gotten some clothes to wear (and keep)
Not many of them were too kind about his transition. Spot had only just become a leader for the boys, and was still trying to get his regime under control. Hotshot was one of the kindest to him, and one of the few he told about leaving.
Spot, Hotshot, and Swipe were the only three he told.
He crossed the bridge to Manhattan, talking to Kloppman about everything that had happened, and moved in that same night.
He adopted his brother’s name in honor of him, but the others thought Thomas was too hoity toity for a newsie, so they called him Tommy.
And then he told them that he hadn’t always been a boy, and that’s why he got called Tamsyn and she a lot.
And so Finch starts his crusade to get everyone to call him Tommy Boy.
I hope y'all loved reading that as much as I loved writing it
Please no one mention how it's been not even a week and we already messed up our timing again

PLOT WISHLIST FOR: Lisanna Strauss
I keep going back to the childhood years but listen. cana and lisanna seem so friendly with each other, lisanna in generally is just a radiant ball of positivity and enthusiasm and I can’t help but feel like cana would feel inspired by her attitude and that helps her get through the rough times when her self worth hits an all time low, especially when her father comes to visit the guild.
like cana can’t approach Gildarts in a casual way because she’s his daughter and he doesn’t know but she can ask lisanna about him, who spends most of his time with him (next to natsu but that’s a different can of worms lol) and cana just getting excited when lisanna tells her about what they do and cana can almost put herself in place of lisanna and hey, the question finally pops up: why do you want to know so much about Gildarts and cana just freezing because oh wait. No one knows she’s his daughter, aha.
Cana makes excuses and lisanna accepts them without question, but I feel like lisanna doesn’t really believe that’s all to it. But lisanna would be too polite to ask since cana didn’t wanna tell her the whole truth so she doesn’t ask anything more about it.
Lisanna being so understanding and supportive of Cana learning magic because hey! All the FT kids are either learning magic or refining their magical skill and i can see lisanna and cana being super supportive to each other’s accomplishments! Cana would be pretty close with lisanna, if not as close as she is with Mira but nevertheless, and oh yes, Cana definitely would be supportive of the ‘marriage’ between her and natsu (probably the biggest hype man ever if only to tease natsu more lol)
and then there’s the fact that lisanna comes back from edolas
and cana just so happy to see lisanna and excited, just asking how she was while she was gone and lisanna asking her how her siblings faired when she ‘died’ because cana wouldn’t sugar-coat what happened, especially regarding elfman and mirajane. Cana would tell her what happened, how mirajane and elfman grew to be into the people she sees now as well as how the guild reacted- especially natsu and happy.
I’ll add more if I think of anything but this is something at least!

Some one asks me,what would i be and what life situation i want to find myself in five years.
Well, not much of a crazy life changing will come,to my knowledge and negative point of view.even though now we are facing world wide economic challenges, viruses, uncertainty of new technologies related conflicts. the more things change the more they stay the same, histories are the same,we are only human after all.
Back to the topic, i wanna be a STEM dork, recently I’m thinking about the field of electrical engineering/chips,or robotic/automation,i feel like with the emerging of those fast evolving AI,they are coming hot with lots of endorsers and hype, big investment pouring on the table, look at those CGs they made, words they output,it’s safe to say it will be the next singularity with all that support.
So now I assume that we got a fast worker, high yield producer/artist,super smart scientist, what it needs is a carrier,so better circuit, chips make them faster, exist in every corner, and a robotic body will maximize their value of serving us,fully benefit the mankind, and it makes more sense if we realize we are facing another global problem—aging population. That means a huge shortage of labor forces in different job sites, and a big needs of health caring experts.it clicks, louder and louder
I’m Imaging a society that doesn’t require regular folks to do a 9 to 5,another day another dollar job but got rationed of credits bi-week because with the advanced automation, mass production is too efficient for small population, that basic daily supplies are enough for all the people, without oligopoly controlled capitalism,no more tempting stuff,no sensation provocative products,no hidden plots that make you overwhelmed with dopamine.without competition, there isn’t much variety, but simple, honest goods and service.that’s what my ideal society would be like.
My fantasy of events would be,androids taking care of the whole house missions, helping kids and the elderly to live better(freeing human from daily burdens),me taking my hot 3D printed breakfast that takes 2 points of credit(just a reminder of limited resources)into a public reserved self driving vehicle headed to the art center (probably art is the last position human hold) at 11am, to go there for learning how to brush paint a massive canvass using multi robotic arms with the help of androids so no one will hurt in the scene(corporation with AI,to know them better).not to worry about if these kinds of skill set are demanding or not, so to get a Job to feed myself and my family.
maybe human will be satisfied with their needs and greediness after massive production improvement and switch to minimalism. That’s probably the only way we can get out off the hustle and bustle, dopamine rampant swamp.
Im not going to talk about all the related contentions, the impact of the androids and automation toward the society, and I realized I am far from my topic.
Not much can get me excited because I’ve been numb long ago I’ve overdosed with dopamine.but I got goose bumps every time I think that, one day I can live in a cyberpunk world(not the game, but if it’s like a game it’d probably be like Detroit became human lol),embrace it’s both sides.oh man,I wish I could go back to school without the fear of failure and insecurity.
I wish in five years,I can graduate and get the entry ticket, join a tech giant and work at the AI engineering related department, androids, automation, smart vehicle, 3D printing appliances, whatever,as long as I can work in the front line and do some constructions,to witness the ups and downs of this filed, take the responsibilities, solving problems by all means.

Theres something a little heartbreaking in seeing Tubbo go from “no no i wouldnt do sub only chat??? what? I wouldnt do that!” To him joking about how making his problems go away is by making chat subscriber only
#i totally get where hes coming from bc lets be real twitch chat fuckin sucks sometimes#but it hurts to see him be so chill with chat#and then when all of this pops off he just says hes done with it#i feel GUILT even though i literally had no part in it#again i think hes totally fair to use sub only bc its overwhelming and frustrating#but it hurts nontheless#i wish chat didnt fuckin suck#i get that its a lot of children who are just excited#you know kids get excited and people get hyped and they wanna help#but i hate that this is like#the most exposure they get to the fandom#cringy spamming#thats like 10% of it and the rest are really good people who just enjoy the content#and actually just wanna watch the stream#i just hope the streamers know that#anyway this is a vent now#so#vent#tw negativity#negativity#mcyt#mcytblr#im just trying to enjoy my hyperfixation you know?

Alrighty!! Time for part 2 of Monkie Kid season 3 special talk for ep 3 and 4!! This time gonna talk in general rather than in order of the events.
🚨SPOILERS AHEAD!🚨
.
.
.
.
.
.
Well for starters Macaque was ICONIC here!! Also adorablex3 From his expressions to his redemption (which we'll prob see more of next season x3) I LITERALLY DIED WHEN I SAW HIM TIED UP LIKE OMG MY BOY XDDDD also don't get me started on how gentle he was with lbd's host. WELCOME TO THE DAD SQUAD MY MAN!!
Edit: I totally forgot to add the "hero and warrior" part huh? ^^' that was also one of the best parts of the episode! The fact that Macaque kept saying "I'm not a hero" because he doesn't SEE himself as one. So MK sees what this is about and tells him to be a warrior! That hit so hard it killed me qwq and his face while MK said that it looked so puuuure TwT (I'll also like to add the amazing moment with both of them transforming at the same time they looked so cooooooolx33)
I'll also gonna go ahead and say I DIED from the dragonfruit content we got like, "don't you give up on me dragon girl!" I JUST CAN'T!! He was so worried the entire time for MeiTwT AND HE GRABBED HER BY THE CHEEKS! NOT EVEN THE SHOULDER THE CHEEKS!! AND HE CALLED HER BY NAME! HE HASN'T CALLED ALMOST ANYONE BY NAME!! and then the hug at the end omG I'M GONNA CRY!!! He was leaning on her tooooo QwQ the shippers ate good those 2 days UwU
Let's also talk about the interactions we had with Macaque and Wukong cause I honestly loved every second of it! I'll be real I don't really ship it, I mostly see them as a sibling dynamic. I was super excited with the fight scene and the fact that we had some parallels from their first fight!! (now if that was on purpose for us to talk about or to make the animation quicker idcUwU) I'll add here the fact that we FINALLY got to see the monkey king use his freaking laser eyes!! I seriously got hyped there!! X3 and then we go towards the end with them bickering like the bros they are XDD it was super adorable and it killed me how cute and funny it was! I also appreciate how they didn't go with saying "I'm nothing like him" at the same time, making it more realistic!
Now going to the epic final fight!! It was truly a sight to behold!! The way we got everyone helping out was just beautiful!! And the animation was the cherry on top!!
I also wanna give some spotlight to our villain here! It's really cool that we got some backstory at the start of the 3rd ep. And you have no idea how I screamed when we got a reference from the original journey to the west, where lbd transformed into a young girl, an old lady, and an old man afterwards! I can't help but get excited when they do things like that!!! We also got more about the mayor! And how apparently he AIN'T one of the corrupted/ possest people and how apparently he also ages old! But the fact that we don't know wat happened to him after the defeat of lbd kinda concerns me... And talking about defeat, while I did want her ded after what she did to my boy, I kinda felt bad to how done she was afterwards, how she had accepted her "destiny" hehe... Also with what she said to MK about their pursuit always leading to pain I can't help but think we in for sth more angsty than what we got now sooooo... Ready ur tissues next season and let's pray that they get a little break before that qwq.
Finally! Leaving my fav part for the end! MK and Wukong!(this one is gonna be longerxD) This whole situation started because monkey king decided to deal with lbd alone to protect the others.(and mostly MK let's be realUwU) I can't imagine what both monkey king AND MK were dealing with after lbd's cheap shot with possessing the king. The first time Wukong tried to attack MK he got saved last minute by Macaque! The 2nd time Wukong manage to break control for a few seconds thanks to MK!! Not only did he not hurt him, but he even threw him out of the way to make sure he doesn't end up doing sth worse to the kid!! 3rd time saved by Macaque AGAIN! (TY MY EMO MONKEY!!) And thank GOD the fourth time was the last, and our king finally broke free thanks to MK's trust!! And talking about trust, that's what I love about them. During the whole special, MK believed in The king, he knew that he was fighting for control! He trusted him so much that during the 4th attempt to hit MK, he didn't flinch! He knew Wukong was heading towards him and he didn't turn his head for a second nor did he try to defend! Giving Wukong the strength he needed to break free! (God the hug after that was adorable qwq)
And not just MK, Monkey king also trusts in MK's strength! When the kid went to confront lbd Wukong was the one who stopped the others from interfering. Trusting that MK was more than capable on handling the situation!
And during the end, the whole apology scene was everything I wanted to see! At first I thought MK was gonna be the one to start the conversation, but I'm really happy that Monkey king approached him instead. He was aware that he messed up and that he could obviously tell that the kid was still somewhat upset about it. He knows he's a bad mentor and honestly idk why people expect him to be amazing at it.
This is the monkey king we're talking about! The same guy that made an entire mess up in the celestial realm cause he wanted to be called "great sage equal to heaven". He still has a long way to go to be able to learn how to properly teach but he will try! He's trying for his kid. It's good that they finally got the time to talk about it cause that will make their bond even stronger now!(also the fact that he said "I'm sorry MK" and not bud is so sweet qwq) Honestly I'm a big sucker for parent-child relationships especially when they play it right and when the characters are to die for x3
I really can't wait to see what the future has in store for them in the next season ( and hopefully the one after that pls qwq)
#monkie kid season 3#monkie kid#lego monkie kid#Lmk#lego monkie kid spoilers#monkie kid spoilers#Spoilers#lmk mk#lmk macaque#lmk sun wukong#lmk monkey king#lmk lbd#lmk lady bone demon#lmk mayor#lmk mei#lmk red son#lmk dragonfruit#This is honestly one of the best shows I've seen qwq

Here’s an idea if you don’t mind :^3 : but the camp consolers and older campers having a horror movie night, and so of course here’s Jack doing the ol’ yawn while wrapping an arm around Y/N’s shoulders, along with whispering that if they get scared he’s right there. Y/N laughs it off; bc what else do you do when you think your hot friend is flirting with you as an inside joke? After the movie and lights out though; they’re a lil freaked out by the movie and ask Jack if they could share a bunk..
Y/N is a little surprised by just how hyped Jack is for the upcoming horror movie night considering he seems like more of a comedy guy. Then again he doesn't seem the type to really dislike any particular genre so it's not that odd. Plus the older kids are excited for the double feature so that probably contributes to it.
What was more surprising was he wouldn't tell them what movies were playing, since the counselors are the ones who chose them. "Sorry sunshine you'll just have to be surprised." he'll say with a playful wink. None of the others will tell them either which Jack is happy about.
He'd hate for an unexpected accident to put a damper on the occasion after all.
So they don't realize until the night of that the movies in question are the type of scary movies that freak them out the most. All Jack offers in response is an innocent shrug of his shoulders as the two take seats more twords the back of the viewing area.
Part way through the first movie they just barely hear him yawn before wrapping an arm around their shoulders. When he reassures them he's there for them they laugh off the obviously cheesy move as their friends attempt to settle their nerves.
Jack knows it's cheesy, just like he knows these movies would get at theur nerves. He's the one who suggested the two in the furst place.
By the time the second one finishes & the campers are sent back to their respective bunk houses Y/N is thoroughly freaked out. Which is probably why they weren't as embarrassed over asking Jack to skeep in his bed as they ought to be.
Sure they're friends but it's not lost on them how attractive he is or that he likes to flirt with them alot. But as previously stated they're pretty freaked out so that trumps any other nerves.
Thankfully he has mercy on them and keeps his teasing limited to a simple "Of course sunshine I'm here for whatever you need. Keeping fictional movie monsters at bay included." which earns him a pout accompanied by a playful elbow to the ribs.
Once the two had finished with their respective nightly routines Y/N foundthemselves held snugly against his chest. They weren't surprised by him telling a few jokes in an attempt to calm their nerves, they were surprised by how unnecessary they ended up being.
Laying there against his chest with one hand carding through their hair just felt right. Despite the more intimate setting it felt warm, safe & natural for them like they had always done so. When his other hand begins to lightly trace shapes in their back they wonder if it'd be ok to do this on their more restless nights, in the interest of getting sleep of course.
They also wonder, as they drift off, if the kids little rumors actually have some merit to them. People do say kids are good judges of character & i couldn't hurt to test the waters a bit, they're sure Jack wouldn't mind.
What they don't know is just how little he would mind. How every action he takes with them, no matter how genuine he is, is done to draw them closer. To cement himself as the only oerson they'll ever truly need.
They also don't know that this isn't the first time he's gotten cuddly to help them stave off potential nightmares. But he doesn't plan on telling them that part, he wouldn't wanna embarrass his sunshine to much.

tldr ; yibo is a good boy!
this season so far, the show itself / fans are hyping bobo’s collab with kyoka ( understandable ) and of course bouboo is still there. his favorites. BUT I JUST WANNA TALK ABOUT HIS SUPPORT FOR BEATRICE. He is an amazing dancer and Bobo can collab with anyone but what I enjoy the most is seeing him stand out as a leader and a mentor. He doesn’t have to actively be teaching, he just needs to be there and give his support to a specific dancer. Sometimes, that’s all a person needs.
The cuts uploaded below are from Episode 1: where he gives Beatrice a chance to dance and get a towel by battling Bouboo. He doesn’t know who she is but he heard from others that she’s good. Episode 4: Beatrice “battles” Siwen and she loses, all the judges vote for Siwen but Yibo sides with her.
think about why you came here and what you want. you are the master of your own fortune.
When I heard him say this in episode 1, I can’t help but be inspired and proud of him at the same time. I am not an old time fan of his, I just knew him from Untamed but i’m liking the person he is becoming and will be in the future. He is so generous with his time and praise. He can be strict when he needs to but his soft heart always makes it way through. These are the words Beatrice needed to hear that time. There are so many talented dancers in that show and some of them are even legends. Yibo was right tho, she needs to remembers why she’s there. Focus on that. It’s all on her to make things happen.
I like Yibo playing the role of a mentor. I can only imagine that he knows what that feels likes. Being 18 y/o, with all the talent he had but still feel like it isn’t enough. I wonder what it must be like for his mentors, for those who were by his side and guided him ( for example wang han ) to see him like this. To see Yibo pay it forward to other people and be the one that uplifts them. If you’ve been watching the show, you can see how he pushes people. He seems to know when to use the “gentle motivation” and when to bring out the strict captain yibo guns. For all we say he’s aloof, yibo has always been a good judge of character and how to interact with people.
In Episode 4, Beatrice says she was happy even if it was only Yibo that “voted” for her. This really shows how when you’re “Yibo’s person” he will see it through till the end. He is very loyal to those he puts his trust to. In the Hip Hop Diary bonus video, it was even shown that Yibo was asking the master/judges why they didn’t vote for Beatrice. I hope Beatrice makes him proud and that she makes it through the finals. She’s got so much potential and she needs to be more confident and put herself out there. I am excited for what she can offer to the audience.
I joke about Bobo talking like he’s 35 y/o when he mentions the “youth” in this season but I guess I can understand. Being 18 might be so far away from where he is now. So many things happened— he’s learned so much — he is definitely not a kid anymore.
I will stop myself here. That’s all. I just love Captain Yibo very much 🤍 and I know people are getting pissed with how Youku rolled out this season but it’s still a good show! I hope some people can reconsider. Anyway, my favorites so far this season are Sean, Beatrice, Lucas, Abby, Tanarka and Shaadow. ✌🏼

what a treat
pairings: bonten x gen!reader
a/n: edited because i didn't like the ending T0T
warnings: lots of food, suggestive, pretty wholesome??
life with bonten series
sanzu dumped bags full of pastries onto the dining table, all executives looking at him as he stood with a smug smile and he went through them to place each on the table.
"i bought you guys food, eat it!" rindou shuffled towards the table, he was actually pretty hungry and the smells from each food made him drool a little. rindou and ran showed a knowing smile towards each other when looking at where the bags came from.
kakucho held up his container with his name and he was actually.. delighted? he opened it and it was 6 round creampuffs for him and he thanked sanzu quickly, a bit disturbed that sanzu suddenly wanted to pay for everyones'.. what supper? bonten's meetings were really complicated and had some executives talking in the meeting with empty stomachs that they wouldn't be suprised if they heard one of their stomachs growl.
whatever sanzu just did after the meeting 5 minutes ago had kakucho kissing his feet, not literally but he just helped himself by diving into the creampuffs he bought.
"haru are you fucking kidding me-" sanzu expected akashi to react to what he bought for him and both of them let out a boisterous laugh, ran scooted over to see what his sanzu's brother bought and it was two crispy curry buns that were held gently by akashi.
curry buns brings them both back to middle school whenever they finished school and crave bread from the local store, halfing it so they could share; sometimes even stealing the other bun in the container whole when the other brother's too slow to split the other.
"wanna split it like old times?" "fuck no greedy bitch get your own" whenever the whole crew's around, meals are always noisy. always filled with screeching and groans of satisfaction from their food that it sounds like a porn set rather than a daily bonten after meeting meal with each other.
rindou couldn't contain his excitement and bit into his garlic bread, tilting his head back that the food is still warm to how sanzu ran into the meeting room like he got chased and ran didn't bother saying anything cause his bao buns were waiting for him, ran looked around and tried to see what everyone was eating.
koko had his croissant in hand and he didn't want to eat it yet, why is he hesitant to try it? he looked deep in thought. from hearing how the two brothers share their food, it reminds him of how inui and him would bake croissants as a kid with akane and inui would enjoy his with lots of butter. he let that memory melt in his head before indulging in it and moaned, turning to sanzu asking where did he get all of these bread?
"from y/n's cafe right?" sanzu looked over at ran and let his teeth show, he went and thought it thorugh how your sweet bread and treats would make a huge success with everyone and it did with how much everybody's enjoying it.
the clouds cried out for a while and rain began to stop when sanzu stepped right infront of your shop, it was in a secluded area where people could hit the jackpot because the heavenly scent of all kinds of creations you made hit him in the face.
you started recognizing him when he wanted to reach out for his order and his obvious tattoo stuck out and you had to gasp out in joy.
"aren't you sanzu? quoted by ran that you're the scar mouthed fucker? anyways excuse me but did he asked you to come here?" you thought about ran telling everybody in his work about your food, sneaky. sanzu smiled widely, saying he didn't because one of his coworkers were eating brownies and he managed to snatch one for himself, that's how he knew the place.
ran busied himself with his bao after telling sanzu that you were defitenely gonna be hyped about everybody's comments like a cutie but then realized his boss wasn't around.
"sanzu, where is mikey?"
sanzu checked his phone, message by mikey that he was going out and sanzu was up on his feet. why did the boss wanted to go out? he rarely went out!
"be right back!"
sanzu ran out accompanied by ran and rindou who sadly left behind his last bits of garlic bread, though they didn't need to play bodyguard they were sure mikey had some with him but they had to be more cautious now because of the recent traitors that they had to punish.
they tracked the location of their boss and his slow movement to wherever he's going manage to let the men relax a little because they were about to arrive at where he was.
they opened both doors of your cafe and you jumped seeing three lean men you knew erupting the silence in the place and you almost spilled whatever was in your hands.
"boss! boss..?"
mikey had an annoyed expression knitting onto his face but you tried to wave it off setting down a glass of creamy parfait and he nodded, smiling a little to show courtesy towards you infact he couldn't wait.
sanzu slapped a hand over his forehead, forgetting his boss' orders cause he was too hyped to bring back the treats back to bonten and sanzu was scared mikey went off because he noticed his treat wasn't ordered so he went off his own towards your cafe.
"he just wanted to see me, don't worry"
the haitanis let out a sigh in relief, grateful their boss was just hungry again but didn't expect him to go out just to see you. with how the parfait looks, no wonder he's coming back to see you.
eventually after asking their boss if he's enjoying his meal, both brothers looked at you with adoration in their eyes when you start taking sanzu's orders of his cookies and how you worked quick to deliver them to him right away.
after all, they accidently stumbled in your cafe to find out their friend from years ago; y/n l/n had their hands full with life full of pastries and sweets.

that's why they gotta thank whatever lured them towards your place because the same joyful expression they missed years ago is now back smack dap infront of their faces.

✩•̩̩͙*˚⁺ swimsuit shopping with stray kids ⁺˚*•̩̩͙✩
gender neutral! reader.
a/n; jisung's is a little 👀
chan
he's kind of uncomfortable tbh
but only because he feels like him seeing you not fully clothed makes you uncomfortable
covers his eyes every time you come out of the changing room
gives his opinion even tho he isn't even looking at you😭
such a cutie tho 🥺💕
"babe what do you think of this one?"
*is facing the other way* "it looks great!! you should get this one!!"
"chan you're not even looking at it🙄"
[rest of the members under cut!!!]
minho
fashion critic to the m a x
fashion critic to the m a x
if you look bad in a swimsuit he will n o t hesitate to tell you
would never let his s/o get caught looking bad😤
sometimes he's the tiniest bit harsh but he always immediately apologizes
you take him with you whenever you go clothes shopping because if how honest he is
"how about this one??"
"y/n put that back!! you're gonna look like a crazy person🙄"
changbin
omg so changbin right??
c h a n g b i n!!
first of all he would be sitting like this the whole time 😖
everytime you come out of the change room he looks you up and down and asks you to do a spin
says it's ok but you can find something better
but in reality he just wants to see you in more swimsuits🙄
you get tired of changing every 2 minutes but changbin basically begs you to keep going
has a little smirk on his face the whole time
"bin! this is the 5th one I've tried on😫"
"come on just 1 more, the next one might be the one!"
"fine🙄"
hyunjin
he's literally no help🙄
he's always like
"oh that looks pretty on you!!"
or
"you look so good in that one!!"
and as much as you appreciate all the the hype and compliments
you can't make a damn decision because you "look hot in all of them" according to hyunjin 😐
jisung
so uh......
you no longer let jisung go swimsuit shopping with you😭😭
because everytime he sees you in one, he tries to get you out of it 👀 if you know what I mean
it happens every single time he went with you so you stopped bringing him with you
he begs to come with you but you always refuse
"come on, plzzzzzz🥺🥺?"
"omg no, I'm not trying to get kicked out of the mall again for public indecency🙄🙄"
"well at least send pics this time!!"
felix
he's such a sweetheart💕
he waits patiently and gets so excited everytime you show him a different swimsuit
he tells you which colors/patterns/styles he likes more but is always like "but you're the one wearing it so just get the one you want☺"
thinks you look amazing in everything!!
sometimes if one of them is a little 😳 he gets a little red in the face
but he's so cute tho🥺😣💕
seungmin
pretends he doesn't wanna be there
complains the whole time about how long you're taking
but deep down he feels so honored that you let him see you in such a vulnerable state
because wearing swimsuits in front of people can be kinda nerve-wracking no matter how close you are with them
so he actually helps you make a decision on which swimsuit you should get
but not without being snarky about it😭
"how about this one seung???"
"that one looks good on you. now get it so we can finally get out of here🙄"
jeongin
he's not there to see you in swimsuits tbh
he's just there to spend time with you 😤💕
the swimsuits don't really matter to him
if he sees one that really pops on you then he'll say something
but most of the time he just silently admires you and wait for you to finish
sometimes he takes pics of you and sets one of them as his homescreen 👀

In high school, peer pressure tends to come in different forms. For you, it’s taken the shape of this.
“Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”
You look around your classmates, scanning each and every face chanting with glee like you’re a star player scoring the winning point. The tall figure shifts beside you, glancing at you like a blinking idiot. You’re not even on the losing team but it feels just as frustrating.
You glare at the boy beside you. The trouble is Jung Sungchan. The trouble has always been Jung Sungchan.
“Come on!” Chenle calls with a teasing grin from the buzzing crowd. The little shit. It’s getting hotter with each minute you spend by the green soccer field and its dusty chalked lines, just at the tip of the bleachers. You didn’t even get enough time to breathe before you were surrounded, the soccer team pushing a stumbling Sungchan onto you. It’s too sunny for this today.
“The star soccer player gets a kiss from the lead cheerleader after a winning game! That’s the rule.” Chenle announces.
Sungchan looks at you and you turn to him, the both of you looking at each other like fish out of water. Even though you’ve clarified at least a hundred times that you’re just friends, your peers don’t seem to be satisfied. (“Famous last words,” they say.)
“No,” you say, firmly.
“No,” Sungchan agrees, nodding his head wisely.
“Don’t copy me,” you say, smacking his chest, and a quiet ‘oof’ escapes his mouth.
The fact that you’ve been best friends since Sungchan offered you a light green crayon in elementary school just fuels the idea that you have to date. There’s this difference between elementary school kids teasing and high school kids teasing—it was so much easier back when boys were afraid of cooties from girls. It was innocent too. Now, it’s more of nudges and sly grins, teasing with unnecessary innuendo. (What else do you expect from teenagers experiencing puberty?) It doesn’t stop you from being best friends though. Sungchan still visits on Fridays to get on your mom’s nerves and help you with homework (or try to). You still have all the little trinkets he’s gifted you over the years and the lock to his phone is still your birthday. You’re best friends and strictly that.
When you got into the same middle school though is when it started going downhill. Holding his hand was awkward, touching him in any way was awkward and god forbid you compliment him on something. The kids around you would run across the halls saying “(name) likes Sungchan!” or the other way around sometimes. Heathens, the lot of them. But at the very least, he wasn’t too fazed and you wonder how he could be that even-tempered. If it was just you feeling that way, then maybe you did like him more than he did you.
You shake it off.
Sungchan’s much more grown now and at least a foot taller since his awkward adolescent years; he looks handsomer too but you wouldn’t be caught dead saying it out loud. After all, it’s only going to spark another debate on the anonymous school forum. (“(name) finds Jung Sungchan attractive, they’re totally dating.” “I knew it. A boy and a girl can’t be friends, especially if they’re both good looking.”) If you’re being honest, you hate the rumours so much—it’s one of the reasons, apart from puberty, stopping you from being as close as before. However, you do understand that this is how the passage of time works. You’re not going to be spending all of your time with each other, yes, but you still regard him as important. Your life is too busy now, with exams and practice—and you’d think a busy bee would get some honey as reward.
Sungchan’s curls stick to his forehead, unruly after he wiped at them with a towel. The sunlight plays with his eyes when he looks at you intently and you shrug. The smell of sweat is starting to make you nauseous. You remember that you too need to take a shower.
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” you mumble.
“Not today?” He asks.
You shake your head. “The girls have a plan.”
It’s not just the sweat. Or the crowds. You don’t like being here at all. There’s one more problem with this place.
You hate soccer.
And by hate, you mean you despise it. Like you’ll throw up at the sight of it. What’s so riveting about a bunch of smelly, sweaty guys excited about chasing a patterned ball? You’ve tried to understand it but every time your dad explains the rules, you find yourself zoning out of whatever alien language he speaks.
Sungchan has been the closest to getting you to understand the game and even then, you refused to learn. It’s not like you’re society’s definition of girly—but you’re not a tomboy either. The school has granted you the “ice queen with a warm interior” stereotype so you’ll just go with that. To be honest, you’re just a little more awkward at open affection than your friends. (And Sungchan has the “friendly beagle” stereotype which you’ll agree is partly true. He’s more of a retriever though, with that size.) It’s just funny how you can never seem to know who you are but other people see so clearly.
You hurry up to the locker rooms and hope for a better evening than this afternoon.
-
The sky burns blue and you wipe the sweat off your brow once you step out of the changing room. Cooling off from your shower has gone to waste. Adjusting your school skirt, you take your usual strides to the school gates.
Ryujin seems to be showing Yuna a very flamboyant dance move while the latter hypes her up. Ryujin is in her gym uniform because she has no care for her reputation apparently, but she makes it work. Yuna’s about to show her own move when she notices you and waves at you vigorously enough to make you jog towards her and stop embarrassing herself in front of the after school crowd. But then again, she’s too cute for that.
“We got bored waiting for you,” Yuna explains, voice hoarse from her cold. Poor thing wasn’t let into performing because of it. “Do you wanna see our cool new move? Ryujin came up with it!”
Ryujin rolls her eyes. “You’re trying to advertise me to (name) so she can recruit me into cheerleading, aren’t you?”
You smile and cross your arms, facing Yuna who’s been caught mid-act. She smiles sheepishly and pats your shoulder like she just said a funny joke.
“Actually…” You begin and Ryujin holds up her arms in a cross.
“No. Never. I’m already part of the hip-hop dance club.”
“I was going to say that I’ll join you instead.”
Yuna gasps in betrayal, big eyes widening, and Ryujin grins before sticking her tongue out and potentially ruining her image with that expression. She doesn’t care, however.
“Anyway, I can’t wait to get to college and join a dance club.” Ryujin looks at the two of you excitedly. “I keep getting snaps from Yeji and feel so jealous.”
Yuna pouts. “Don’t be so happy about leaving me.”
“Aw, is the baby afraid of not getting any more sisterly doting?” Ryujin teases and you laugh at the disgruntled expression on Yuna’s face.
“Don’t worry,” Ryujin continues with a sly grin. “Taehyun’s here to keep you company for another year.”
Yuna turns red in the face, a high pitched complaint emitting from her throat. “I told you to keep quiet about that!”
“Oh, what’s this?” You wiggle your eyebrows. “We’re starting boy talk early today.”
Yuna huffs. “At least, mine’s just a crush. I don’t know what relationship status: complicated you have going on with Mr. Soccer Captain.”
You flush hotly. “There’s no relationship status to be complicated about! Seriously, why does everyone think we’re a thing?”
“You’re cheer captain and he’s soccer captain,” Ryujin answers logically. “Plus, you’re best friends.”
“You have a lot of sexual tension,” Yuna answers honestly.
You make a face, slipping your arms into theirs and pulling them along the sidewalk. You better get something to drink before the sky starts to turn purple from pink tinged blue.
“Ooh, another desperate attempt from (name) to not get teased,” Ryujin leans back to whisper to Yuna.
You stop walking. “Wait. Where are we going?”
Yuna shakes her head. “I’ll lead the way.”
Skipping over the concrete sidewalk, you laugh at your friends and their stories (read: Ryujin gushing over Yeji’s college dance club and Yuna’s newfound crush on Taehyun). The blue sky has tinged orange by now but it’s the sort of colour that sits in between more significant timeframes, like night and evening. Passing by a city square, you eye the people with wonder. A girl in a pink skirt skateboards smoothly over the concrete, her boyfriend filming her with a loving smile.
“We’re here!” Yuna announces.
You look around the large open plaza, with people of all ages and in different attires trying out skateboarding and rollerblading over the grey concrete. It’s been getting popular lately, with idol pop stars taking to it too but you never knew there was this big a community. There seems to be a few stalls renting out skateboards too. The wind caresses your hair, evening cool settling in nicely on your skin. The sky is purple but it’s lit up with the city buildings and street lamps flickering on. It’s not a bad day at all.
Someone catches your attention. A boy that sticks out like a sore thumb everywhere he goes.
“Sungchan?!”
Your eyes somehow always settle on his figure, tall and standing out in the crowd of teenagers. He clutches his blue bag, the one he’s had since third grade, close to his chest and looks more like a tourist in this place than a frequent visitor. He’s not the only one in school uniform now that you’re here.
“(name)!”
You hate how you love the way his face lights up when he sees you. You’re not actually into him. It’s your friends brainwashing you.
“I was going to invite you,” Sungchan says, a sorry smile on his face.
Ryujin and Yuna frown at each other but you can’t exactly ask the reason for it.
“Isn’t it great we had the same plans?” he beams at the three of you.
Yuna suppresses a smile and you wonder why. It’s not like your friends would know he’d be here—you’d know first as best friend.
"How did you guys come across this place?" He asks, eyes round with curiosity.
"Somi's Tiktok," Yuna answers, smiling. "We thought she works here but if she really was, guys would be swarming this place."
Ryujin raises her eyebrows. "Speaking of which, I can clearly see why there are so many girls here."
Sungchan beams, turning to you for affirmation and when you don't give him any, he drops his grin to a more polite smile.
“I don’t work at the stalls though,” he answers. “I’ve just been here a few times.”
“You’re trying to learn, aren’t you?” Ryujin asks, raising an eyebrow.
He nods. However, you furrow your eyebrows at her. How does she know? Eyes widening, you realize it must be the school forum. You remember reading a post about a student wanting to learn skateboarding and the wording felt familiar but you didn’t think much. How they figured it out, you will never know.
“Oh! Oh, I think my nose is bleeding. Oh god.” Yuna sniffs vehemently, her finger at her nose. “I think I’m going to need Ryujin to get me to a clinic.”
Linking her arm through Ryujin’s, Yuna makes an apologetic expression and runs off into a particularly crowded area.
You blink. The realization dawns.
"They just left me," you tell him, exasperated. "How could they just leave me?"
He shrugs. "My team left me at a rival school's field once."
Great. Your last outing before midterms and your friends have abandoned you. If this is the case, you wonder why they complain about you spending so much time with Sungchan and allegedly ignoring them.
You regain a sense of your surroundings and turn to him. "Wait. They really left you?"
He nods diligently, eyes trained upwards as he tries to recall the memory. "I told you, didn’t I? On the plus side though, I made friends with the opposite team."
"That's so… cute."
Your cheeks heat up at saying it out loud. If Sungchan is affected by it in any way, he doesn't show it. Instead, he has his usual smile on.
“Do you wanna try?” he asks. “Skateboarding. Or rollerblading but I personally don’t recommend that.”
He curls his lips, shaking his head slightly. You laugh. Of course this beanpole has trouble balancing on skates.
"I- I figured you'd be good at skateboarding. Since, you know, you're so balanced and all."
You raise an eyebrow. "You wanna add skateboarding to your resume or something?"
"Yeah, that and the ability to imitate dog sounds. Wanna see?"
"No, thanks. I’ll pray this weekend to cure your furry behaviour."
Before he can respond, you’re interrupted by a whirlwind of colours and excited calls. A few girls run up to the two of you, younger and probably in middle school, flocking to Sungchan like bees to honey. Never in your life have you felt so ignored as in this singular moment.
You blink, turning to Sungchan who looks like a rather helpless, flustered eye of the hurricane. The winds don't seem to be stopping any time soon.
You clear your throat trying to get their attention.
"Wow, you brought your girlfriend?" One of the girls exclaims, sounding disappointed.
The other girls make similar whines of disappointment and you have half the heart to whack them over the head and tell them to focus on their academics instead of boys.
"You're so lucky to have him as your boyfriend," a girl comments, round eyes brimming with jealousy.
“He’s not my boyfriend,” you declare sharply.
Sungchan looks at you with his doe eyes, blinking cartoonishly. You nudge him with your elbow.
“Yeah!” He agrees, with far too much gusto to be believable. “I’m not (name)’s boyfriend. I have no idea why everyone keeps saying that.”
“Let’s go, babe,” you say, resisting the urge to stick your tongue out at the girls. They’re younger than you and you have high school dignity, you remind yourself.
Slipping your hand into his, you take a few long strides away from them before you realize what you said.
“I- I did- I didn’t mean to call you babe,” you sputter, pulling your hand from his to look at him with wide eyes.
“It’s okay though?”
Sungchan raises an eyebrow and slips his hand back into yours, smiling.
“I don’t mind the rumours, you know?” He says honestly but his smile feels all too teasing. “Maybe we should go out for real.”
You huff, separating yourself from him again. “Maybe you just love attention. Disgusting.”
You point an accusatory finger at him and he bites at it playfully.
“While you're here, wanna see a cool trick I learned?" He straightens only having to tilt his head to look at you.
"If it's you falling on your face, then yes."
"I mean, hey, I could totally do that. Done that several times actually."
You smile despite trying your hardest not to. You like this about him—that he’s easygoing enough to make you look at life less seriously. If it’s with him, you could quit everything that makes you unhappy and start everything you love.
“So where is your skateboard?” you ask, walking side by side with him, who has finally learned to match your pace.
“It’s with one of my friends,” he answers, and points to a tall girl with long brown hair, wearing a pair of tomboyish shorts and T-shirt. Another girl with short hair and a bucket hat accompanies her, wearing a long hoodie and shorts, but she leaves before you reach them. They must be from a different school because you’ve never seen them before. The first thing that pops into your head is that they’d be good replacements for your cheerleading position if you were ever to leave. You shake your head. Now is not the time.
“That’s Jimin!” he introduces, and you wonder how he’s this way—how he makes friends so easily.
Jimin waves at Sungchan and then proceeds to ask if you’re his girlfriend with a big smile, like a script being followed everywhere you go.
She seems a little disappointed at the answer. “Well, I was going to suggest one of the couples skateboards.”
You flash her an awkward smile.
“But those are pretty difficult! I’ve been here for a month and my idea of skateboarding is still sitting on it while Soeun pushes me around. That’s my friend, by the way.”
“Ah.” You nod. “This is my first time skateboarding, actually. The only ‘sport’ I’ve ever done is cheerleading.”
Jimin furrows her eyebrows before her eyes widen. “Wait a minute. You’re the cheerleader best friend that Sungchan wouldn’t shut up about!”
Sungchan flusters, in the subtle way he usually does, and waves his hands robotically trying to explain. “I was just saying- that- that you’d be good at skateboarding. Because of the cheerleading.”
A boxy grin accompanies his explanation.
“Right.” Jimin covers her face and sends an obvious wink your way. “Anyway, you can have my skateboard for the day.”
She hands over a smooth black skateboard with white wheels, but on closer inspection you find that they’re light-up wheels instead. It’s oddly fitting for someone like Jimin even if you’ve known her the entirety of ten minutes. Sungchan is good at finding friends, rather. Soon enough, she runs off after making Sungchan promise he’ll deliver the skateboard home.
The trick Sungchan wanted to show you was a failed kickflip. At the very least, it made you laugh so hard you almost spit out the strawberry milk he’d bought you. Sipping his own banana milk, he sulked for a moment or two, telling you to try it out and see how difficult it is.
On the contrary, Sungchan was right. You are good at balancing on skateboards. But that’s where it ends. You don’t think you’ll be naturally good at kickflips, though being able to glide through the plaza while Sungchan runs after you with the drinks puts a big smile on your face. It’s the most fun you’ve had in a while.
Accompanied by Sungchan’s panicked “oh no”s and “oh we messed up”s, the two of you try the couple skateboarding move too; no one’s watching you here. It’s fun to see him stress over a skateboard because frankly, you’ve never met anyone as easy-going as Sungchan. (“I’ll figure it out along the way,” he says when you ask if he’s studying for finals, and proceeds to get a decent enough score). Suddenly the wandering gap is closed again. You’re not going to worry about stupid rumours from now on.
But for some reason, ‘you like him as a friend’ doesn’t sound right either. Despite having said it so many times, you might not believe in it. You shake off the thought. This evening, at least, you’re going to enjoy with Sungchan without thinking of teenage drama and hormones.
"You still don't think you and Sungchan make the perfect pair?" Yuna pouts.
You narrow your eyes. "I don't take opinions from traitors."
Chaeryoung leans back on her chair, and whispers to you asking if you’re okay. At least someone is concerned about you.
“It hurts to be left by my own friends but—”
“No, I meant, are you okay? Why aren’t you dating Sungchan already? You’re so cute together! And you’re best friends—Netflix writers literally daydream of this.”
You groan, throwing up your hands in defeat.
“And,” Yuna adds, knocking her chair closer. “Who’s really the traitor here? Us who ditched you with the love of your life—or you, who runs off every time she gets a call from her boyfriend?”
“Sungchan is not my boyfriend.” You cross your arms.
“She even shares her lunch with him more,” Ryujin complains from the side. “And they’re not even in the same class. Unlike me, by the way. Class 1 Shin Ryujin. Same class as you, (name).”
You slump, resting your forehead against the desk. At this point, you wish the teacher would walk in and start the class already. Unfortunately, lunch break isn’t over for another ten minutes and lady luck clearly isn’t smiling upon you.
“Speak of the devil!” Ryujin announces monotonously, leaning against her desk.
Sungchan and a few of his friends from the soccer team wave at you and the girls from the classroom door. Noticing Taehyun, Yuna quickly fixes her hair and you would tease her if Sungchan hadn’t casually strolled up to your desk and sat down on the chair in front of you. Long legs barely contained in the space, he adjusts himself by resting his arm on the headrest and his chin upon it. It’s all normal. However, when he leans down to match your eye level, you hear the sudden pit-a-pat of your pulse in your ear. At this proximity, you can even see the mole on his lip that he’s pointed out before. The sunlight from the open windows is pulling golden strings over his eyelashes and his lips aren’t dry as a desert like you expected. You know he uses the watermelon flavoured lip balm.
“Too close,” you croak. Embarrassed at your own voice, you rise sharply and glare at him.
“Is your heart fluttering?” Sungchan asks, smiling as he looks up at you.
You roll your eyes.
You can hear Yuna’s giggling and before you can shoot her a glare, Sungchan calls.
"Do you have any bandaids?"
He points to a rough scratch at the base of his palm, fingers slender and less calloused than what you'd pictured. Then again, soccer players don't use their hands much, do they?
You blink. "You came all the way here for bandaids?"
"Well… I remembered you keep band-aids in your phone case. And the nurse hates me."
You giggle.
Yujin mouths from behind Sungchan, “He just wanted to see her.”
You would feel flattered if you didn't know these people and their shenanigans. They'd do anything for some drama (and to get two innocent people into the dating trap).
“Why would I waste my cute band aids on you?” you mutter under your breath. “They’re limited edition, you know?”
No way are you sticking Ice Bear on your urban hazard of a best friend. A tall, cute, surprisingly polite hazard but he still annoys you nonetheless.
However, Sungchan's pleading smile has grown on you.
You reluctantly take the band-aid out of your clear phone case, the pink panda doll attached to it swaying with the movement. Proceeding, you take Sungchan's hand and lay it on your desk. With careful focus, you place the band-aid, admiring the size difference of your hands before snapping to reality.
Enough with the pink cloud of thoughts, you scold yourself.
When you look up, the proximity makes your heart skip a beat despite the logical part of you saying you shouldn't. Your faces are too close and this time, you don't even have the energy to croak it out.
"Thanks, (name)," Sungchan smiles at you.
Right then, the sound of a chair sliding harshly against the floor makes the two of you jolt away from each other. All of your friends and his friends seem to be sporting Cheshire cat grins and you don't like it one bit. You don't like not being in on the gag.
"Anybody up for gaming after this? My treat." Chenle looks around. “Sungchan is banned from the arcade soccer game though.”
"'Ey," Sungchan complains.
"Hey, Jisung and Ryujin are banned from DDR too but that's because they almost broke the handles off last time."
The memory makes you smile. Sungchan was there too, and you don’t know why you’re only just recalling all the memories with him in it, carefully and in detail. Every one of them seems to have been amplified, the little interactions suddenly coming to mind.
“(name)? You’re coming?”
You take one look at Sungchan and give up. Even if this is another childish ploy by your peers, you don't mind spending some more time at the arcade with infuriatingly addictive games. A tiny part of you is even willing to go along with them and see if it turns out the way they want it to.
“I’ll go,” you mumble, and the rest of the group cheers.
“But I have cleaning duty today.”
The group groans.
“Just get someone else to do it. Like a junior.”
“Isn’t that bullying?” You ask, frowning.
“Ask nicely. Anyone would be willing to do your bidding, (name).”
“Chenle, will you do it?” You give him a sickly sweet smile. “You’re class president after all.”
Chenle wrinkles his nose. “You’re getting stupider every day, (name).”
You sigh. “Fine. I’ll ask one of Yuna’s classmates then.”
“By the way,” Chenle announces. “Only twelfth graders are invited—”
A bunch of groans interrupt him.
“Quit whining.” He crosses his arms, glaring at them. “What do you even have to worry about? We’re preparing for the exam of our lives. Oh, and Jisung is an exception.”
“We’re only two years apart,” Yuna mutters under her breath.
“Oh, and from class 5, only Sungchan is invited.”
Another round of complaints pass and Chenle breaks into laughter. “Just kidding.”
Your friends are and will always be an odd bunch. Sungchan has previously proved to be the weirdest (several times) and it makes him the most lovable too. But then again, you don’t have free space in your timetable to put in teenage crushes, much less falling for your best friend. What you do have time for this afternoon, however, is relaxing at the arcade.
-
“Let’s go! I am so good at this. Think I’d impress your Steve Curry?” Ryujun gloats, after having scored three hoops in a row at the arcade basketball game.
“It’s Stephen Curry,” Chenle corrects. “And no, let’s focus here. Our goals are—”
He points to the two figures by the DDR machine, looking like a real couple. He’s been acting as damage control for the rumours and making sure you don’t drift apart because of it. They really don’t make guys like him anymore, Chenle sighs. He should get a friendship award or something.
“—those two.”
Really, Sungchan better be thanking him by the end of this. He’s never met anyone quite like Jung Sungchan, especially because Chenle cannot picture himself liking the same person since elementary school.
“Man, now I wish I had a girlfriend,” Chenle mutters.
Ryujin snorts. “Who’s going to date you?”
“You don’t have a boyfriend either,” Chenle reminds and gets a basketball to the shoulder.
“Why are you playing that when you don’t even know how to use it?” Your voice rings through to them.
“I said I’ll figure it out!” Sungchan reasons.
Chenle and Ryujin stare at the two of you blankly, as you bicker over a claw machine game and they share a look.
“Do they need our help?” Ryujin whispers.
Chenle shakes his head. “I think they’ll figure it out from here.”
Soon enough, you were laughing at Sungchan’s failed attempts and trying to outplay him. Your friends have already given you the shove. Chenle and Ryujin share a high five and that’s where the new story begins.
You finally know the thrill of a teenage crush. It makes you so damn infuriated that it had to be Jung Sungchan.
Now every time he waves at you from the field or hands you a bottle of strawberry milk or explains the calc notes you missed or does the bare minimum, you need to deal with the quickening of your pulse and a few butterflies loose from their cage in your stomach. It doesn’t help that you’re almost always together.
The two of you currently sit by the school field, Sungchan tying his shoelaces while you cool off with the water bottle he offered you. Practice ended a while ago for you and the girls have receded into the air conditioned indoor gym. The indoor gym is apparently occupied by the gymnast club and you couldn’t be more disappointed that you didn’t join them instead.
If anything, however, you’d rather leave this whole thing and focus on your academics. Hobbies shouldn’t be draining you—they should feel like skateboarding on a lilac evening with the wind in your hair.
With a friend you like very, very much.
“Sungchan,” you call quietly.
“Hm?”
When he looks up, you can’t hold in the urge to fix the hair out of his eyes. You’ve never been very physically affectionate so it might have come off strange. Sungchan looks at you quietly, stars in his eyes and you clear your throat.
“How long have you been playing soccer? It was before we met, right?”
He hums, eyes traveling up and then back to you when he remembers. “Since I was six. You were there at my first soccer match actually.”
“I was? Oh my god, was it the one you lost horribly and the whole team started crying?”
“Yes. Yes, it was.”
You giggle. “Six year old you would be so in awe now.”
Sungchan beams at that.
“Who knows?” he smiles, looking into your eyes with firm determination. “Maybe I’ll be the next Son Heungmin.”
“Even I know who that is so… no.”
Sungchan pouts and you make a face in disgust. “Don’t act cute, it gives me hives.”
“Okay, maybe not Son Heungmin. I could definitely be the next Park Jisung—and I don’t mean him.”
Sungchan points to a boy passed out on the benches, his exhaustion typical of any high schooler while another boy sits beside him, fanning him with a bunch of assignment papers. Jisung and Chenle really are more entertaining than any game on this field.
You turn to look at Sungchan, who’s moving his head around trying to catch their attention. When he finally does, he waves at them and gets big grins in response. He’s not all that bad, you think. In fact, he’s quite possibly the most amiable boy in senior year.
“Just be Jung Sungchan,” you mutter. “Not Son Heungmin or Park Jisung.”
Sungchan turns to you, smiling wide. “Advice taken.”
You scoff. “Whatever.”
Maybe it’s just you but Sungchan has been glancing at your lips very frequently today and mentally thank Chaeryoung for letting you borrow her lip tint. You didn’t know something so subtle could get you this giddy.
“Are you… going to give the CSAT?” You ask, glancing at him nervously. Part of you is sad you only developed your first high school crush in the very last semester. Or if it’s comforting, you could believe you’ve liked him all this time.
“Nah. Sports scholarship,” he says nonchalantly. “I was going to tell you but… I’ve been scouted already.”
You gasp. “That’s… great. Your future’s all settled.”
Sungchan seems to dislike the idea, lips pursing. “I don’t think anything’s settled except for the next step.”
You nod, somewhat understanding.
“What about you?” He asks. “Any university in mind? SKY? I’ve seen you study extra hours at the library.”
You look away, not feeling ready for the conversation.
“I don’t know,” you say quietly. “I don’t know what I like and what I want. I don’t even like cheer anymore.”
Sungchan gazes at you wordlessly but it’s the most comfortable you’ve felt talking about this.
“Maybe I should quit,” you mumble.
You don’t want to commit to something you no longer have passion for. But then again, you’ve spent so much time on it that it’s hard to leave.
“You should,” he responds, honest.
You scoff, shaking yourself from that moment of vulnerability. “But why would I quit something I’m good at?”
“If you don’t like it. If it hurts to leave but isn’t any better when you stay, you should leave.”
You roll your eyes. “You’re quite the philosopher.”
“I’m smart, right?”
You smile.
“Oy, you two!” Chenle calls, making his way to you two with Jisung trailing behind. “I don’t mean to interrupt your flirting but you got a spare water bottle?”
“Are you two going out now?” Jisung asks as a follow-up, and you feel a hot flush for some reason, unlike the previous times you’ve been asked this question.
“No,” you answer. You don’t mind the idea though now.
“Don’t lie,” Chenle complains. “I saw that picture of Sungchan teaching you how to kick a ball. You? And soccer? Something’s up.”
You throw up your hands in exasperation. “Seriously, who keeps up posting to the school page? And where do they get the time?”
"Two people with this much compatibility will always be a hot topic."
"We're not compatible," you retort quickly.
"Wait," Jisung says. "I know how to resolve this."
You raise an eyebrow.
"How do you have your cereal?" He asks, looking from you to Sungchan.
"Cereal first, obviously," you answer.
Sungchan looks up, finger below his chin as he thinks. "I drink the milk first, then eat the cereal and then breakdance to mix it all together."
You pinch your nose. "I swear I question your sanity all the time."
"Hah! That means you're thinking about me all the time."
You look away, rolling your eyes. He responds with an open-mouthed smile and finger guns.
"See?" Jisung grins. "Compatible."
The gruff voice of Coach Lee startles the four of you and Sungchan leaves with a sigh and a promise of meeting after practice. Jisung leaves with Sungchan and Chenle gives you one last teasing smirk before sitting down and going through the assignment papers he was using as a fan previously. You will never understand his miraculous ways of performing his presidential duties.
You don’t have a good feeling about the next match. The only reason you’re even sticking around anymore—as embarrassing as it—is to spend more time with Sungchan. Being with him puts you at ease, even if the school tries to wrap the two of you in a rope of uneasiness. This is your very last practice, for the next match is the final one of this year and then you’ll be back to spending even longer hours at the library with a stack of textbooks. It’s supposed to be a carefree age. At least, adults say that. Your high school life seems to be riddled with worries, and with that thought, you head into the air conditioned room to take a breather off your anxieties.
Only one more match, you remind yourself.
The pre-match buzz is driving you to the edge.
Your form is off, you can feel it already and Coach Kim isn’t as sunshine-as-rainbows as she usually is, courtesy to it being the last match of your life. She’ll never know though, how much you don’t want to do this.
Sungchan waves at you as he usually does before a match, disappointing a third of his fangirls, but it helps you ease. One last time, (name).
Watching the crowd of people, parents and siblings and friends, all excited and talking makes you take a deep breath. You practiced but it wasn’t good enough. You can never do well at something you don’t like anymore. This time, you feel guilty for committing to things half-heartedly. You want to start that fresh new college chapter already, with all of this behind.
There’s ten minutes left. You go back to the empty hall outside the lockers only to pace. This isn’t helping.
“(name)!”
You turn around abruptly to find Sungchan’s tall figure, and you must be looking miserable because his smile falls.
He doesn’t even ask what’s wrong, only takes careful steps towards you. “Do you need water? Medicine?”
His hands hover over your shoulder but he doesn’t burden you with them. You put your face in your palms and sigh, sinking down to the floor in a crouch.
“I want to quit,” you whisper. Your voice comes off more brittle than you’d like, and you realize that Sungchan hasn’t seen you cry since seventh grade when you failed a math test. You didn’t tell him then but you appreciated him studying extra hours for math just to teach you.
“You don’t have to go out there if you don’t want to,” he says quietly, dropping to the floor beside you. “I’ll stay with you.”
You stare at him dumbfounded. “Don’t be ridiculous! They’ll lose without you—you’re the ace, Sungchan!”
“There will always be an ace,” he retorts. “Maybe Jisung will finally get to shine. Or anyone else. I don’t mind spending an hour with you alone.”
You feel a hot flush spread over your cheeks. Looking away to the side, you mumble an ‘alright’ and only glance from the corner of your eye to see him smiling. Jung Sungchan is the most unreasonable boy you’ve ever met. Perhaps it makes him somewhat loveable too.
“It’s your last match,” you whisper helplessly.
“I’ll join the college soccer club and get to play more matches.”
You sigh, giving in. If he’s so adamant, you think that perhaps there is something in you worth sacrificing his game over. It makes an oddly warm feeling bloom in your chest. Sungchan is so damn convincing with his words. You wonder if it’s really okay.
With shoulders touching, an awkward silence takes over in the next second. You turn to him and open your mouth, watch him do the same and close it at the same time he does.
“You know,” he begins, “I was kind of lying about not worrying because I get the feeling coach will evaporate me tomorrow but—I can handle it. Mostly.”
You stare at him with wide, worried eyes. “You don’t have to do this, Sungchan. I’m the one running away.”
You slouch, pulling your knees closer to your chest and burying your face in them. The urge to scream is boiling within you but you can’t get caught. Not now.
“Sometimes to run is the brave thing,” he responds, insightful. “If you’re not up for it, it’s better to quit early than to regret it in the long run.”
You don’t know if it’s the fact that he just quoted Taylor Swift or spoke like your old school counselor—but you find yourself laughing. He makes sense. Sungchan, in his weird, oddball ways, always makes sense. And in that same way, he feels like home.
“You’re so good to me,” you say, looking up at him and at a proximity you’ve never been before.
It’s his turn to fluster, though he doesn’t do so as visibly as you do. He clears his throat, shifting his eyes around before meeting yours. “I- This is bad timing but… I like you. I really do. Since third grade when you drew that birthday card for me. I have it in my bedside drawer, by the way.”
He looks away and makes a face, probably wondering why he said that out loud.
You press your lips tight to prevent the smile that tugs at them. He looks at you with a wobbly smile, trying his hardest to resume his usual dignity—but he’s just a boy, after all.
“My type is dumb and pretty, though?” You tease, the smile escaping. “You said it yourself.”
He blinks. “Well, I am pretty but if you want me to be stu—”
You shake your head. “I like you too. You don’t have to act cute.”
He pauses, thinking. “I have never acted cute in my life ever. I was born cu—”
You hold his face between your thumb and forefinger. “You do that again and you die.”
He breaks into a smile.
“I’ve never met someone quite like you,” you whisper, embarrassed of your own feelings bubbling up from the bottle you had kept them in.
He laughs, open-mouthed and pretty.
“Actually, hey, I didn’t like you all this time from fifth. I liked you and then I didn’t like you and then I liked you again—”
“Okay, I get it.”
His shoulders relax and he smiles at you. You look up at the clock on the wall by the entrance to the field and bite your lip. You don’t love performing anymore but you know all the girls do, even the stand-bys. Jisung might not have to take over Sungchan’s position but you bet one of those tenth graders would love to take yours, the same way you did back then. They’ve practiced harder than you too and it’s only a matter of deserving.
You take a deep breath and get up, pulling up Sungchan by the hand. He raises an eyebrow, inquisitive eyes scanning over your face and you smile at him, strengthening your resolve. You should have done this way sooner.
-
Sungchan plays. You don’t let him sit it out with you.
Halfway through, you cheer the hardest you ever have, plastic decorative gemstones stuck by your eyes borrowed from the other girls cheering. It’s much more fun, you think. You’ve never experienced soccer like this. You’d love to sit at stadiums and join in victory chants. There’s enough weight off your chest to yell your lungs out.
Sungchan scores a goal almost immediately after and sends a thumbs up over to you. You laugh. This is the best break you’ve ever taken from cheerleading.
“Ooh, is this perhaps the (name) effect?” Chenle’s voice rings through the speakers and you feel yourself shrink slightly under the eyes. Out of the corner of your eye, you can see your homeroom teacher signal very angrily to the commentator box. You shake yourself off it. So what if everyone’s looking?
Sungchan places his hands on his hips, chest heaving and sends another signal to you before beelining for a straight goal. You whoop and the girl with a notebook beside you is visibly annoyed at this point but you don’t care.
Without doubt, your school wins and you watch as Sungchan runs to his team, a big smile on his face. The second he’s done getting pet by the team, however, he rushes to the bleachers, skipping over the steps to you, panting when he stops. The risk he took was definitely not calculated. He holds up one finger while he heaves.
“My cheering worked best this time, it seems,” you say to him, laughing.
His face is flushed from the exertion but he laughs heartily. “You could be yelling profanity at me and it’d still encourage me.”
You shake your head at the cheesy line. He takes a step forward, well inside your space but you don’t mind. He leans in.
“Everyone is looking at us,” he says under his breath. “Is that a good or a bad thing?”
You look behind him to find the whole team, along with your girls sharing furtive glances and giggling at the sight of the two of you. A few of the junior girls slap each other’s arms, bouncing on the balls of their feet in excitement. You’re not a celebrity. But everyone wants to cheer things on once in a while, don’t they?
“Good,” you answer, before pulling him by the shirt into a chaste kiss. When you pull apart, Sungchan’s face is so struck with awe that you want to look away but instead you bite back an obvious smile. It’s about damn time, someone from the soccer team yells.
“Woah. I think I scored a goal either way,” he says, an offbeat smile on his face.
“Oh come on, we didn’t even get to chant ‘Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!’ yet—oh shit, the mic’s on.”
Chenle is definitely getting an earful from your teacher after this. The two of you wave at him at the box and end up laughing at him trying to hide behind the desk.
As expected, the whole crowd surrounds the two of you in less than a minute’s worth of time, with several congratulations and “good score” offered to the two of you. The boys mess up Sungchan’s hair while the girls compliment you on how cute a couple you are. There’s also the question of when you started dating that pauses the buzz and makes everyone look to the two of you for an answer. Sungchan turns to you and you turn to him, and there’s no way you’ll tell half the school that your confession came in a private hallway outside the field—teenage imaginations run wild.
Instead, you slip your hand into Sungchan’s and run down the bleachers and towards the exit, laughter spilling from your lips. There’s only one place you can think of going to spend a cool blue late afternoon with.
“Skate plaza?” He asks.
“Skate plaza,” you answer.

Viola squad viola squad (this story has nothing to do with the viola) viola squad
I TL’d this one a while ago so I don’t remember exactly how doing it felt, but I know it’s so full of slang that I probably was dying a little the entire time lolol. Regardless, I think it came out pretty nicely
Thank you to @reddoransu for helping me get this story, you’re a star
And, for exciting news!! I can upload my TL’s to yaycupcake now!! @moonlight404-translates was kind enough to walk me through the process. Thank you for helping me figure it out, Moonieちゃん!! This one is up already :)
When I’m cross posting right away, I won’t bother splitting the TL into multiple posts. I’ve also got a lot of stories already TL’d just waiting around, so you’ll hopefully see a lot from me in the near future! A lot of them are hopefully really funny :D
The translation is under the cut. If you see anything that doesn’t seem right, please let me know!

The Mixer ☆ Returns
Part 1
Kazunari: Tsuzuroon! Hey, hey, you’re playing a guy who’s like a total player in the next play, right!?
Tsuzuru: No, he’s not really a “player”ー
Kazunari: No waaay, to think my time has come again~!
Tsuzuru: Huh?
Kazunari: Well like, because I heard that Tsuzuroon was gonna be playing a player! I set up a mixer to help with your role study!
Tsuzuru: HUH!? You WHAT!?
Kazunari: Tsumutsumu asked me for help with his role study when he played a playboy in the Winter Troupe’s second show, so the three of us went to a mixer, didn’t we?
Kazunari: So I like, thought you might come to me for help the same way Tsumutsumu did~!
Tsuzuru: Hold on, you can’t just…
Kazunari: After all, your role’s like someone who’s not really interested in anything but messing around, right?
Tsuzuru: Roughly speaking, yeah, but it's the “skipping practice to go play games at an arcade” kind of messing around.
Kazunari: Eh!? Seriously? …did I get the wrong idea?
Tsuzuru: *sigh*
Kazunari: Crap~. Sorry~.
Kazunari: But that puts me in a bind. Cause I kinda already set it up… (peek)
Tsuzuru: Please stop sneaking glances directly at me.
Tsuzuru: (But even if Miyoshi-san misunderstood, he DID kindly set this up for me…)
Tsuzuru: …I get it… just this once.
Kazunari: Woohoo! The mixer returns!
Kazunari: By the way, I made it 3 and 3 like how it was when we went with Tsumutsumu before.
Tsuzuru: What are you going to do about the last person?
Kazunari: Right~ I’ll invite Tsumutsumu again~?
Tsumugi: Misumi-kun, thanks for helping me with the gardening.
Misumi: You’re welcome~ I had fun too~!
Kazunari: Ohh~! Tsumutsumu and Sumi! Hyper nice timing!
Kazunari: Hey, hey, Tsumutsumu, there’s another mixer, wanna go together?
Tsumugi: Eh? A mixer?
Kazunari: Yeah! By the way, the schedule is~…
Tsumugi: Ah, I’m sorry… I have a tutoring job on that day…
Kazunari: Ah, oh, really?
Tsuzuru: You’re kidding…
Tsumugi: Kazu-kun, Tsuzuru-kun, are you participating this time too?
Tsuzuru: That’s right. Apparently Miyoshi-san set it up to help with my role study.
Tsuzuru: But if Tsukioka-san can’t come, what now?
Kazunari: Then~ Sumi! How about it?
Misumi: Me~? No problem!
Kazunari: Yaaay!
Tsuzuru: …I hope the other people can keep up with Ikaruga-san’s energy…
Tsumugi: H-Hang in there, Tsuzuru-kun.
Tsuzuru: Tsukioka-san, why are you only completely booked when I need you…?
Kazunari: I’m super excited~! Let’s get hyped together!
Misumi: Yaaay, tri-tri-triangle~!
ー
Tsuzuru: *Sigh*...
Izumi: Tsuzuru-kun? You’re sighing; what’s wrong?
Tsuzuru: It’s… apparently Miyoshi-san misunderstood my role this time around as a player character.
Tsuzuru: So now we’re going to a mixer together to help with role study for that…
Izumi: Huh, a mixer?
Itaru: Ahh, so that’s why he suddenly got so excited while we were talking, Kazunari.
Tsuzuru: Huh?
Itaru: Oh, Kazunari asked me about the Spring Troupe’s play the other day. I said that Tsuzuru’s role is someone who messes around and seems to not have too much motivation.
Izumi: I see… so Kazunari-kun misunderstood that.
Tsuzuru: It’s YOUR fault!?
Itaru: Haha, sorry, sorry.
〜
CHOOSE
1. Tsuzuru-kun, you seem like you’d be popular at a mixer.
Izumi: But Tsuzuru-kun, you seem like you’d be popular at a mixer.
Tsuzuru: Eh?
Izumi: You’re calm and kind, you’re good at taking care of people since you’re an older brother, you’ve got plenty of knowledge and experience from working all sorts of part-time jobs…
Izumi: And chatting with you is always really fun, Tsuzuru-kun.
Tsuzuru: Oh, um… th-thank you very much.
Izumi: ?
2. It could become material for a script
Izumi: B-But hey! It could become material for a later script, so…!
Tsuzuru: That, well… I guess it could.
Izumi: Yeah, since Tsuzuru-kun, you’ve said that your various jobs have been references too. This is part of that too.
Tsuzuru: You’re right. I’ll keep your words in mind and power through this mixer.
〜
Itaru: Who else is going to the mixer?
Tsuzuru: It looks like Tsukioka-san couldn’t come this time, so it was decided that Ikaruga-san would be going with us.
Izumi: Misumi-kun… I feel a little nervous…
Itaru: The trickster feeling is strong there.
Izumi: (Even if I say I’m worried, those three are adults, so I wonder if it’ll be alright…)

Misumi: We put on triangular plays~! Tri-tri-triangle~!
Girl B: Ahahaha, you’re so funny! How cute~ triangle~!

Kazunari: Hold on, hold on~! Tsuzuroon, aren’t you looking a little down? Liven up more~!
Girl A: Let’s turn it up!
Tsuzuru: T-Turn it up?
Girl C: Then to get Tsuzuroon’s vibes up, should we play a game or something?

Girl B: Of course!
Misumi: I don’t know it~ what kinda game is it~?
Tsuzuru: I don’t know it either.
Kazunari: It’s super simple! You just say “mozzarella cheese” around the circle!
Kazunari: But, the rule is you gotta say it with higher energy than the person before you!
GIrl A: It’s so fun, you’ll get it if you give it a try! Let’s do it, let's do it~!
Kazunari: Ok then, we’ll start with Sumi! Tsuzuroon will go last~.

Izumi: G-Good work today…!
Tsuzuru: The quality and encouragement of that guess is just what I need right now…

Itaru: Feel like this is gonna take off, Flubberoon.
Tsuzuru: Don’t say it on purpose! I mean, I’d like for it to NOT take off!
Chikage: Haha, we’re joking.
Tsuzuru: Ugh, geez…
Izumi: Ts-Tsuzuru-kun. Should I pour you some tea? Or some sweets, are you hungry?

Izumi: Huh?
Tsuzuru: …! No, that…! I meant that I can talk to you without worrying because I’m used to it…!
Kazunari: Booold, Tsuzuroon!
Itaru: Good thing Masumi isn’t here.
