i feel like whenever i talk about emotionally manipulative behaviour people who are doing nothing wrong get worried and people who are causing problems double down, so ftr here is some delineation.

obviously i can't speak for everyone, but most people are not bothered by:

sending asks about the subject of their blog (ie, if someone's blog is about death note, sending asks about death note is probably fine)

sending personal questions in response to an ask meme specifically soliciting personal questions

a single unsolicited DM or ask, and a continuation of the conversation if that gets a positive response

compliments, comments or questions about their artwork, including their process

what nearly everyone on earth is bothered by includes:

sending love confessions to strangers, either platonic or romantic

sending asks to strangers requesting emotional support

sending multiple asks or DMs which are NOT responded to. like the occasional double-text is generally fine if you've got some sort of rapport with someone, but a barrage of unanswered messages is not

following someone across multiple platforms when they don't respond to you

contacting people's friends or acquaintances when they don't respond to you

sending suicide bait, effusive compliments or self-flagellating apologies when they don't respond to you

vagueposts, especially suicide-bait, about someone who has not responded to you

informing strangers you have collected personal information about them

block evasion

i would love to say this is chronically online behaviour but it really is not. people do this offline and offline and ime they do it with shocking frequency. i feel this often gets described as poor boundaries and that's not technically untrue but i genuinely feel it's more sinister than that. i don't know if it's necessarily malicious, but having dealt at length with some of these people it seems to me that most of them are aware on at least some level that they are actively causing distress and that their emotionally manipulative tactics are likely to solicit specific responses. it is hard to say no to someone who is showering you in flattery or implying something bad will happen to them if you don't coddle them.

anyway: i'm directing this not towards the people who do these things (bc as far as i can see they really do not care) but towards normal people who are afraid their perfectly reasonable messages are freaking people out AND to anyone who is getting a message like this for the first time. block on sight bc it almost always escalates.

ANYWAY ok so i saw a tiktok last night that was the rising signs and their appearance and Ofc they said cancers often have very soft, rounded features "like the full moon" and generally have very prominent chests and my spindly ass is watching that shit like No.

SO what do cancer placements actually look like!!! Bc i actually went thru the comments and saw a lot of cancer risings not relating and im like OK so it's not just me-

first off, i see ppl saying cancer risings look different compared to cancer suns or other placements and i have never noticed this myself. im not entirely sure why a rising placement would look different from a sun placement but what do i know i could just be an idiot-

ANYWAY-

in my experience, both personal and observational, cancers tend to be very lanky and spindly people-

they might have Slightly softer facial features but not without definition.

being their sister sign, ive noticed heavy capricorn placements tend to have jawlines of the gods, and so do cancers usually, just in a slightly different way.

capricorn bone structures generally look very <. Like very sharp and strong as if they have like no tissue on top of their bones and it's just skull and skin kinda- Cancer bone structures look very???? Not ) but like if < was a just Slightly more rounded- they have more muscle definition in their faces rather than bone definition if that makes sense.

all this to say that in my experience, cancers are not rounded or large chested, they tend to be very lanky, small-chested actually, potentially tall, and have very defined eyes for some reason or another-

in my case i have the most dark purple bags under my eyes you will ever see in your entire life (i got a sleep disorder that makes me legitimately nocturnal 🙏😔), and you can see like every emotion im experiencing in my eyes very easily IF u know me well enough (which my mom is the only one who can genuinely see everything)

i also have a REAL bad case of resting bitch face AND crazy eyes, which the crazy eyes i think are boosted by my mars conjunct asc and my uranus trine asc 🙏🙏🙏

one thing the tiktok said though that did make sense a little was "cancers are usually the spitting image of their mother, like copy + paste"

1. More historic than classic texts related

Since men didnt marry until their 30s usually, and im very sure they did not tend to be THAT chaste nor was birth control safe or common (im assuming lol), what happened to illegitimate children? I'm guessing theyd stay with their mothers (who more commonly probably wouldnt be free citizens from all i could guess) if they didnt get abandoned (which probably ended deadly or in slavery often enough ig unless they got extremly lucky?) ....idk just a random shower thought x)

But from what i remember from the one or two lectures I had on ancient history and troy, there are a bunch of inconsistencies of descriptions in homers work (iirc the example being used was a helmet not worn anymore at the time of writing) but they also mentioned that during Homers time they mightve seen the ruins and archeological finds of that time which he/the oral tradition couldve used as inspiration or more like, coming up with a story for these finds?

So what is that assumption of when it'd happened based on?

The descriptions , archeological finds (tho i think with the whole "did they find troy" story, they wouldve based their assumption of having found the city on the already established time frame of how old the city wouldve had to be), other text evidence? Cultural evidence?

DID Homer mix (to him) historic/archeological/cultursl finds AND (to him) current descriptions/customs/etc?

Well I cannot say that really they DIDN'T get married before their 30s, it is just that this was considered the ideal age for them to marry

That is because in ancient Athens men had plenty of dues to fulfill to the city before settling for a life such as finishing their education or serving the army etc. In one essence it was considered the perfect time for them to be married given how they have finished all their dues towards the city and society but that doesn't necessarily imply they never got married before that age. It was just considered the ideal. Just like nowadays they say the ideal age for someone to have children is till roughly the mid-30s but that doesn't mean people do not have children early or later etc.

Oh that is a very good question. Indeed by n large the illegitimate children didn't have rights on the family's fortune and by n large they stayed with their mothers unless of course one would adopt them and recognize them officially but of course the status of the children differed massively depending on their parentage. For example if the illegitimate child (or Νόθος, Nothos, "bastard") was a product of two Athenean citizens or from an Athenean and a non-citizen (mētroxenoi) then of course the status was expected to differ. And that of course might have played much greater role for the time when the Athenean pure blood propaganda was high enough. One would expect that being illegitimate was a reason for someone to be stigmatized. Mythologically for example Odysseus was often called "Son of Sisyphus" being insulted that not only he was not legitimate son to Laertes but also a product of a man that was sinful and shameful. So even in myth it was a sign used for offending him (see also my random inspiration on Philoctetes where I partially use it) Historically they say that Diogenes the Cynical Philosopher mocked a boy that was born out of a prostitute who threw stones at public by yelling "Hey watch out you might hit your father!"

And we do see a series of laws as to who is considered illegitimate and what responsibilities or rights they bare. Other writers such as Aristpphanes also mention stuff even in their theatrical plays such as A nothos may not have the participation-right-of-close-relatives (anchisteia) if there are legitimate (gnēsioi) children. But if there are no legitimate children, then the estate is to be shared by the nearest kin. So by n large the illegitimate children have no right to the estate apart from those who were officially adopted although there seems to be a generally smaller amount of money called "notheia" that a father can leave to their bastard children if he sees it fit. I believe initially the illegitimate children still could hold some hope for succession but later on that was less and less possible to happen. Need to research more on that though. For example Plutarch mentions how a child that was born from an etaira (aka official concubine) shouldn't be even looking for their father anymore. Demosthenes also agrees Neither male bastard (nothos) nor a female bastard (nothē) may have participationright-of-close relatives (anchisteia) in the sacred and holy rites (hiera kai hosia) from the archonship of Euclid So yeah by n large we see a separation of the illegitimate chilren from their father unless the father seems to wish to adopt them. A classic example in Homer is Teucer and Ajax. Ajax is legitimate but Teucer even if he is older he is illegitimate. Ajax is the leader of the fleet of his city, Teucer's job is to support him instead and we can expect after Ajax's death Teucer was left alone with no kin due to his illegitimate status. The father usually recognized a child upon the tenth day of its birth in an official ceremony (decate) but that didn't automatically give them economical rites of succession, rather than religious ones. With the latter the classical athenean constitution basically considered anyone not owning land or rites of their family not useful for the prosperity of the land and so the bastard children fell often in this category since as it was above they rarely ever inherit their father's estate.

Which I find quite interesting given how many children in mythology are technically illegitiate born by some god or other and succeed. Quite possibly blood indeed runs thicker than water for high class bastard children over common ones I would suppose. Okay that is a very blunt analysis. 2. Yay! Here we go!

Okay the short answer would be; thanks to Schlieman! The dude dug up the city that we now know as Troy in the 19th century. Ever since the city was thoroughly examined by modern day archeologists and based on not only the descriptions in Homer but also the evidence provided from the city itself we do believe that Troy fell probably around 1200 BC. One key point is that we do not see for example in Homer Doriean greek tribes such as Macedonians or northern kingdoms of Epirus etc which are mentioned later as part of the campaigns of the greek heroes to the north such as Neoptlemous establishing the kingdom of Epirus or Odysseus traveling to Thesprotia to repent himself to Poseidon. We know the Doriean Greeks arrived to the area around 1100 BC so the fact that Homer doesn't include them in his narrative was an indicative of the time the war took place. It is also linked to the fights and wars that we believe happened among the greek kingdoms before the fall of Bronze Age kingdoms and the beginning of the "Dark Ages" at the Iron Age which was the time Homer lived in. Th layers of the city that we now know as Troy are very well preserved despite the fact that Schliman did a great deal of damage by digging deep. Archeologists have timed the layers they discovered based on evidence or stylistic details. The city itself named Troy is not just a hypothesis of modern archeology but it seems to be a roman hypothesis too given that we have found tablets from Roman times speaking on the city of Ilium/Troy. Possibly it was already a tourist attraction for the romans at that time given how it was their legendary origin city through Aeneas. Can we say with 100% certainty this is Troy? Perhaps not but we still have very good evidence to support it. Obviously we cannot be sure of the timespan given by Homer to my knowledge but it is safe to assume a war happened at that time in Troy we just establish it was probably a war over the control of the area the coastline and the crops and the passage with the east.

Homer is actually surprisigly accurate in some things (for ecample Meriones giving a boar tusk helmet to Odysseus and the helmet is very well described and fits the mycenaean counterparts) but yes he uses anachronisms a lot for example the mention of iron weapons in his narrative even if Iron was't widedly used at that time or round shields mentioned were more common in Homer's time than mycenaean times. The same goes with other weapons. It is more a case of anachronism rather than a case of inconsistency. We also see burial customs that are more consistent with Homer's time and later times as well rather than Mycenaean times. Or some politica ideals and so on such as the gatherings for voting among the kings or soldiers or the ideal of straightforward battle or being remembered in eternity which were all ideals we know were establishing by Homer's time but we do not know how much of it is true about the mycenaean times. Which makes sense given how Homer was mentioning things he and his audience were familiar with. Another we can see from subjects of shame and modesty such as Penelope covering herself in a veil for modesty. That we do not know if it was a thing in mycenaean times although in Homer's time we can assume it was more common which was done again in classical times where women should by n large be covered in the presence of men.

Yeah probably it was a mix of oral mythical traditions and historical traditions that survived from mouth to mouth given how we unfortunately do not have much written evidence from that time and since myth and history were often tangled together in ancient greek tradition it makes sense how both travel the same way. Homer probably hears the stories and the traditions and indeed mixes in some of the customs or details more familiar in his time and creates his story. Unfortunately given how the mycenaean scripts are scarce and all of them are logistics and not literature or history, is really hard to be 100% certain on their society and history but it does seem to be a very good amalgamation between history, myth and anachronysm. Homer also provides us so much detail on warfare and wounds that it is estimated he was at war possibly at a high position or that he was trained as a doctor among others. Many of the anatomical details he mentions are simply on point which makes it even more interesting as a hypothesis.

Obviously one cannot use Homer as a historical source to learn about the war of Troy but rather they can use it as a reference as to how these wars of the late Bronze Age Greece passed on to the immediate next generations a few hundred years later.

So like. bullet points time, this is an approximate summary of what i think the Plot would be like - wordbuilding aside

Except tommy is pretty much a normal guy, liked by his family and such. His parents have enough children they can gamble for at least one to be successfull, so they send him to be a painter's apprentice in the hope he'll make some kind of money. There, in the slighter bigger town thats almost a city but not quite, he meets tubbo. Now Tubbo would have been a normal guy, except he was born with facial deformities so now everyone thinks he's a demonic freak hated by the gods (this renaissance world is politheistic bc kristin needs to be there and also i wil not do christianity if i dont have to lmao.)

Tommy is not intimidated by any gods. obviously. also his dad is really into the goddess of death and he prays enough for both of them, so he's like. protected and shite. And he immidiately hits it off with the cursed boy

surprise hes not actually cursed but people are dicks anyways. Tommy makes him a fancy mask to cover his face - even thought its totally cool as shit, but its cool enough only tommy should ever get to see it - and that eventually does help him. Because tubbo wasnt like, a shit guy. Hes a damn good builder and knows how to read, which are talents big enough that the costruction workers for that church out of town are ready to ignore the whole probably cursed thing. As long as he as the masks.

Tommy: makes him the first genuine gift hes ever received in fifteen years of life Tubbo: never takes it off again. like never Tommy: shocked pikachu face

anyways so tommy dies like. super young. They have their fun for a few years but at like seventeen tommy is called to be the artist for this very fancy duke of the town over - and at the start they'r super happy bc that means Money and Food and Roof over your head and shite. its a very good fucking deal.

except the noble is a bastard. His town revolts against him, and when they storm the castle they aren't exactly asking names or faces: tommy gets immidiately like, super destroyed by the crowd, and dies a few minutes later.

Tubbo hears of this like five months later bc its the fifteen hunderds and hes poor.

He goes a bit murdery - basically hes like "im not living without tommy, might as well burn down a village while im at it right, right."

Now ranboo, in all of this, freshly the equivalent of seventeen for an immortal death being, is starting on their training to actually become death- His mom send him on a quaint little village in europe thinking "hey, the most those guys die of is like. malaria. consumption maybe. itll be easy as hell"

And now like two hundred different souls are around him with FIRE written on their foreheads and Ranboo feels distinctly outside of his range, to be really honest.

he steps a couple ethereak planes down just to see what the heck is the matter - if this is another of those voide beings his mom will be Super Pissed and they want to see that reaction

And it isnt the void people

Instead, in front of their eyes, the singular most beautiful person hes ever seen - and hes seen lots, in this line of work.

He cant see their face, but their actions speak enough. The sheer rage, the almost dance like movement of their body perfectly framed by the light of their torch, seeing no humanity or mercy in whatever their searching for. their hair look angelic in its softness, burnt by the worst flames of hell and yet tended by the same hands who wield it - strong hands, clearly forged by hard work and dedication. This is a guy who has nothing to lose, and there's little Death loves most than someone who doesnt fear it.

He has to go down, has to speak to them immidiately.

So he does.

There's really no time - his mom had given the singular rule not to interact with humans, shell be on them in Seconds- but one question can be asked in the haste: "What brings a mortal to do this?"

"It's all for you, love!" the mortal says. They also say some other things, after, but Ranboo is not very well versed in the human tongue and they are speaking Very Loudly.

Their mom is Pretty Pissed but she does undesrtand stupid things done for young love. So she's like "eh, ive loved mortals too. go have fun" and everything

Except a year passes, and ranboo still hasnt even spoken to the guy, and she remembers suddenly Mortality Exists.

Shes never had them take a soul who died naturally - for lack of occasion, mostly - and they may have been. a tad sheltered. They most definitely do Not know what death actually is like for humans, nor how long does it take for them to die

she wonders if it would be a tad overprotective to take this over for them

she thinks about seventy years in the future, at most, when the boy dies. She thinks that her son cannot cry but can definitely cry. she thinks of their screams of sadness ringing through her ears-

Tubbo wakes up in the river, alive.

He did not Intend to be alive, and it's actually quite unfortunate for him to be so.The survivors are quite angry and probably close to him, now. Welp, no way to die is reallt any worse than another, he thinks. Ill just wait here for them.

When the pitchfork collapses his heart and he continues breathing, he understands something might be a little bit wrong.

And like, a good five hundred years pass like this.

getting stabbed does not hurt less just because youre not actually dying. Poisoning is actiively way worse since you're not actually dying. Diving off cliffs is Not Fun. In general, try not to do dying things even if youre immortal

theres a hole in his heart where his loved ones were and it will never get filled

Do you have any food i dont know what he eats but its so small and i didnt know where else to go- please i dont want it to die or something and-

The moon shines on their long, wet hair and their stupid fucking suit is as wrinkled as ever. They look like they desperately want to rub their hands against each other but there is a kitten in the way and it probably makes them even more anxious - theres very little messes bigger than him, right now.

Tubbo falls in love.

They heal the kitten and keep enderchest in their now shared apartment.

They grow closer, and closer, and something is forming. Ranboo is aware a relationship cannot be based on lies, as much as it worries him how tubbo will react.

so he prepares like a romantic ass evening

roses and candles and a nice dinner with a fancy wine

tubbo almost gets flustered

except at the end of the night the confession isnt "i love you" but "im the guy who took away your only ffamily".

and he sees Red.

Ranboo doesnt remember what tubbo screamed, not exactly. He remembers grief, and crying, and feeling worse than he ever believed he could. He remembers the endless guilt sitting in his chest, and the slam of a door - maybe from the inside out. Hes definitely outside, now, and the house ifìs far away enough eh cant see it, but that could also be the tears.

His mother finds him crouched in a patch of grass, tears steaming down their cheeks in a constant flow. Shes not aware if they'd returned to death form to feel safer, or because they believed they deserved the burn. Shes not sure what option makes her feel worse.

shes aware that this is. pretty much her fault

TO HER DEFENSE she was not really aware humans were so touchy about death. The souls she reaps arent very talkative and the guy shes with is chill about it so like. maybe this one is weird

(the guy she's with is Phil, whos Decidly not a human but has also decided not to tell her yet. For the bit, yknow? He's been a live a couple thousand years, it would be awkward to drop it now. He's also somewhat a serial killer and Not Normal about death At All)

Th modern world is full of sounds and weird textures and the food is fucking fantastic but also Too Much, and Tubbo introduced him to this weird ass potion hed called a bong and now hes seeing gods the likes of which had never been discoveres

The forevermore series change the outcasts view from caution to intrigued, it's why endespair is such a niche streamer bc it's not everyday you see a supposed scary werewolf scream like a little girl and admire a woman.

Also seeing as imperial gold (ship name of helios and Viper) is literally Wenclair, yes Helios is a late bloomer and Viper is into the dark and macabre. It's why the show decides to go with Viper narrating some of helios' scenes and vice versa for that good contrast.

Wednesday doesn't at all feel obligated to pop into stream as Willa. They just work in the same room and if Enid wants to go stand up to bring her wife into a hug then that's their business as chat cries abt how single they're making them feel.

I'm gonna be so honest I got DEEP in the paint here and I'm writing this after having finished answering everything - and. Yuh this need a cut LMFAO so the answers are under the read more! Ain't wanna clog your page without warning - and my most sincere of apologies in advance for yappin as much as I did but. What can I say. Special interest fun.

I have to thank you regardless for having me think about these, because this was super enjoyable!! Plus I find any opportunity to pour my heart out really cathartic ☁️🩷

How I feel about this character

LOVE im. Love im to bits it's quite incredible actually LMAO. As with both parts of that pair they're stronger characters put together, but I think Max has way more nuanced personality as an individual than people tend to think about him!! In Sam's bio in the original Save the World, it states they've known each other all their lives and "speak a common language" - and I think that fact, about specifically Max, goes to show he's more detailed than it appears :] More than their hijinks and playful taunting, they do speak a common language: and it's supporting the other how they need case-by-case 🥺

I don't know, I always appreciated how Max was a deeper character than was outwardly demonstrated most of the time. At the end of TDPH, the moment where Max is recalling what happened in his timeline with nonchalant humor in the face of pretty horrific circumstances (whether used to cope or not), but then sees Sam visibly disconcerted, and Max immediately changes how he approaches the conversation with more tact, is beautifully subtle in showing Max is capable and willing to be gentler with Sam when their usual joking doesn't work.

Maybe it was or was not intentional, and I'm reading way too much into it, but long story short Max is a wonderfully comedic, yet nuanced character, and even as more of a Sam fan (by a mere margin, mind you), I would be remiss to deny that the pair are interwoven pretty inseparably - and Max being any other way wouldn't make their dynamic work nearly as perfectly. Good rabbity thing character 10/10

She's the pair's bestie imo so sure maybe obvious person to say but all the same I think she and Max could be a hell of a lot closer than it appears (⁠´⁠∩⁠｡⁠•⁠ ⁠ᵕ⁠ ⁠•⁠｡⁠∩⁠`⁠) I think she'd be a deeply trusted confidant, and he thinks to go to her first concerning things he couldn't ask Sam about/for - not that that'd be. Though I'm sure the end of TDPH probably went to show how much deeper Max cared for Sybil than what showed on the surface 🥹🩷

My unpopular opinion about this character

PG opinion? Now I am The Number One, Uno, Un, Ein, Énas, Yek crossdressing fan wholly and truly I've never known myself without that passion But I would probably say as far as the content I see, I'm way surprised that Max is the most chosen of the two to do so!! Immediate disclaimer bc one will always be Grateful to be fed and the work is always SUPER delightful regardless but just from what I hear in dialogue and have seen in the cartoon I was always under the impression Sam was more willing and even eager to crossdress, while Max was pretty hesitant and/or did not do so very often :0 At the end of the day this is a huge nothing-offense but it's more something I found interesting in the fandom! Clothes aren't gendered just in case I have to say that but I'm quite fond of the term and the history so it's just how I call it :]

Adult opinion? Max prefers to top and Sam prefers Max tops too. Sure they'll switch off on occasion but I think after that dog does all the work and talkin all day there's a dynamic shift (⁠◍⁠•⁠ᴗ⁠•⁠◍⁠)👍🏼 That's all I've got for now I would further elaborate with great love but being that I'm not sure how you feel about this sort of thing I'll leave it out of courtesy!! One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon

That he gives Sam a big ol kiss right on that snout of his and then rehashes that line about his warmth being alarming

If I can't answer that then I'm also cool with a peek into their actual bedroom!! I was always under the impression they lived right in the office, but I've also seen iterations from other fans of them having a house or an apartment!! Regardless of depiction, I think having a concrete bedroom visual for them would be super interesting (⁠☆⁠▽⁠☆⁠) Though it is fun as fans to be able to speculate and show off our own ideas, so it isn't upsetting or anything of that sort - just something I think could realistically be done!

Sincerely I don't have any specific wishes for Max specifically - I think he was handled very well in all the media he's in, and anything that wasn't directly shown or written is very easily remediable with fanon and community ideas!! I don't find anything wrong with the stories serving their purpose as is, and the people being left to interpret and add onto what exists 🩷

Though, if I can give a more dramatic answer to this, however unrealistic, then I'd say I wouldn't at all hate a musical motif for him (or all the main characters really!!) I understand that hardcore story-telling is not really a Sam and Max special, but if I can be self-indulgent and shamelessly passionate about music, then I'll say especially for a game like TDPH something during more emotional or intense moments including character musical motifs in the background a la God of War reboot style would make things a hell of a lot more impactful.

Like Max's motif could be something lively, something typically with drums and violin or harp, or even flute, and changes depending on the progression of the story - during his initial power sequence, it's powerful and upbeat and smooth; during his beast transformation, it's chaotic and defeaning and gritty; during Sam's departure from the lab after finding out they couldn't bring Max back, it's quiet and drawn out and almost sounds like a lullaby before Sam takes to the streets and the motif stops playing to transition into Sam's sole motif, which would be equally quiet and solemn, to imply Max being left behind and Sam left alone. Maybe Sam and Max while they're together also have a motif that's both of their individual ones combined - and when it matters most, their motifs can be separate like when Noir Sam happens or when Max is trapped in the ship.

There's a lot of potential in music being powerful for this series, and while I think the sound direction is good as is (I mean, "That Rainy Neon Glow" is a pretty damn good Noir Sam track), I think a little extra care to make motifs to consciously and subconsciously recognize themes would be tremendous. I mean shit maybe they're gonna do that for the upcoming remaster and I'll be taken aback but I'm more of the belief that this is something only in a wistful dream ☁️🩷

i’m not gonna actually reblog it bc i don’t feel like getting dogpiled but this is the most allistic take i’ve seen in a hot fucking minute like first of all since when are the two options “mind numbing small talk” and “traumadumping your deepest darkest secrets” like there’s a middle ground… there is talking in a meaningful and connected non-small talk way that also isn’t therapy session-level sharing😭 and secondly i cannot fathom on any level how it would be enjoyable to engage in small talk with anyone. like im not “speedrunning” anything i am just having a conversation as a human being and as a human being i do not want to engage in some pre-constructed social ritual that i can barely navigate half the time, that drains me energetically and affords me no sense of connectedness (and usually feels like it alienates me even more). if having a human conversation with someone makes you uncomfortable that’s not my fucking problem. if you don’t understand how one might feel glimpses of connectedness from a conversation with a stranger that is also not my problem— obviously i’m not looking for emotional intimacy with the cashier at the grocery store or whatever but that doesn’t mean that there’s no human connection when we chat for a couple minutes about some life experience or something. connectedness isn’t a sigmoidal response you can find human connection in people you meet once in your whole life and in people that you see once in a while and in people that you’ll never actually be that close to. anyways i think what primarily pissed me off was the all or nothing framing of the issue because it’s a dire misrepresentation of the experiences of at least some of the people op is referring to, and also the phrasing of the post makes it evident that op is painfully allistic and probably unkind to the autistic people in her life.

I’m ngl lmao I genuinely did like a quintuple take when I saw your tags on the “what do you remember by as a writer?” post say it might be a long shot bc you haven’t written a ton. I think your fic masterlist is one of the longest I’ve ever seen on snzblr, and the fics are sooo good!

From time to time, I’ll go back and reread some of my favorites or just all the Sh/ado/w and B/one fics (despite never having seen or read the series!), and I always end up being extremely tempted to try getting into the fandom sometime just bc your fics are so enjoyable and you make the characters, their dynamics, and little glimpses into the plot/missions/etc seem so fun! They always come to mind whenever I see the names Ka/z or In/ej anywhere lmao

“Bound” is probably the one I remember best and, ig I’m not sure on the Statistical Accuracy, but I honestly always tend to think of it as one of the most iconic fics in snzblr, esp since I remember seeing it be reblogged a lot and people absolutely dying in the tags lmaoo. One of very few fics I know by name without even needing a second to try to remember it. And I’m usually really not a pollen girlie! But it’s SO well-executed and hot. “Tease” comes to mind for me a lot when thinking about snz while hiding scenarios, esp ones where 1+ character has supernatural/magical abilities

Generally, I definitely remember your writing for being SO good with characters teasing/flirting/being charismatic and smooth (all things I feel like can be really hard to pull off!), kink!chars, struggle to keep composure (love seeing all the ways in which Ka/z, resident composed and collected man, ends up disheveled and a lil pitiful lmao), power dynamics, snz while hiding, wide variety of causes and scenarios that are all bangers, and snz that is Very Well Done and I am Looking So Respectfully at ahdjhajdhsjsba

im sorry you've literally never talked about Pan before on this blog but I've been thinking about it recently. in her introduction in GT, she wants a boyfriend, but it seems more like a status symbol for her than a romantic desire. But she occasionally talks about people who are together in a way that implies it's Very Important to her, which combined leads me to think she cares about it in the context of 'people who are romantic should care for each other' i.e. it's less about the romantic aspect than it is about the bond. because she comes from a HEAVILY family-oriented family.

idk where im going with this my brain turned off. but pan never talks about her husband or wife. and it made me think too hard. do you think it was too painful and she hid it all away? she outlived everyone. even her grandkid. do you think she gave so much of her heart that she had to hide it to cope?

She's so real for prioritizing that bond ... I always felt like she wanted a BF at the beginning of GT becasue A.) she is a maturing girl .. allow her to follow her nature ..... And B.) Becasue she's trying to seem more grown (another thing that kids her age tend to do and it makes sense that we see her do it a lot becasue her parents seem very strict in GT, she is just DESPERATE for her freedom and the power to be responsible for herself!) But yeah she's a kid venturing out into the world, her wanting a BF at that young age does not contradict at all with the idea that she may end up someone without romance but with a priority for interpersonal bonds.

HER GRANDKID DIED IN THAT MOVIE ? I don't believe you. Also that's too sad to think that she is all emotionally-armored and is holding unto the pain. I want to believe that she has the grace to let it go...

(please not that i dont think this has been adressed in depth in the comic, but is more seen in fanfics and the fandom)

it's not just the whole deal with Wild not being able to easily hunt, but also the idea that the others are contantly annoyed that Wild wanders off, even though logically speaking most of that time would be used to either hunt or gather fruit and vegetebles.

Especially since as you said he has to feed the chain while on a very active lifestyle. So that is at least 27 meals every day (likely more cause of snacks). Combine that with the fact that they dont really know where they are going and you need either a big village or more likely a town or city to provide 9 men for multiple weeks. I personally dont see Sky's, Hyrule's or Wilds hyrule as having those (i also headcanon that in wilds hyrule travellers tend to hunt and forage to supply their diet while on the road). im not sure if Four, Legend and Wind would have big enough places, seeing as the first is still in the building Hyrule part and the latter two are both post apocolypse

I think it could be interesting to show Wild having trouble working in a group and cooking for so many other people. But it's generally depicted more like a bunch of heroes reigning in a feral cat and teaching this poor little caveman child the civilized ways of real people, you know?

Also, I just realized that they probably aren't hauling around several pounds of horse feed, so he might even be having to collect horse food, seeing as he's the only person we've seen feed her literally anything at all. I'm pretty sure horses need more than just apples and carrots and are much larger animals than Hylians, and she's doing just as much exercise as the Link's if not more since she's hauling all their shit everywhere. She needs to be fed too. Though I could accept the idea that Twilight or Time knows how to take care of it.

I'm going to go against the grain and say that Wild may actually have to shoot whatever he sees because he knows how important it is to be prepared. They never know when they're going to go to an area where food is scarce.

The rest of the Link's just packed lunches for themselves while they were on the road bc they knew they'd get back to civilization pretty fast. I mean, most of the time they're just carrying soup, milk, or potions around as all their food.

I think that even Hyrule, whose world is usually described as poisoned would have to go to towns to obtain safe enough food to eat.

So yeah, I think it's perfectly reasonable for Wild to hoard food and hunt whatever he deems it necessary. He has to make so much food daily in less-than-perfect conditions and they're in a situation where it's impossible to know where or when they're going.

what qpr ships do u ship that most see as allo & why do you ship em in a qpr/pr way? like what makes them interesting for you?

tho it is especially bad if you are particularly fond of female characters specifically (✨ misogyny✨)

there are three main reasons why I tend to prefer qprs:

1. I hc a ton of characters as aromantic and while it is theoretically possible to be an aro in a romantic relationship (if you're a happily dating aro-spec more power to you) I personally could never. and thus my version of the characters that live in my soul and love gnawing on my remaining braincells wouldn't, either.

2. fandom and spite. I'm just so tired of all the stupid "there is no platonic explanation" (yes there is, it is called loving your friends) or "a platonic friend wouldn't do that" (yes they would, it is called loving your friends) or (picture of two people hanging out) OH MY GOD CHECK OUT THEIR ROMANTIC DATE FULL OF ROMANCE (<- cannot stress enough how these are just two ppl enjoying each other's company. do allos just hate their friends)

the most annoying part of that is the way it devaluates every friendship that isn't somehow (forcibly sometimes) linked to romance (they only sacrifice themselves for each other because of their *romantic* feelings specifically, everything they do with and/or for each other is basically just buildup for their REAL important relationship - as if, if they never started dating, it would all be "a waste" or "for nothing")

3. we've all seen it. two perfectly fine complex layered interesting characters become a couple and along with their new relationship status they also receive a new personality trait: being a couple. unfortunately for them, that is now also their only personality trait.

but I think that with qprs that is much more difficult to do? when you speak of romance everyone has a pretty clear picture in mind for what that means; qprs however are by definition undefinable. meaning that in order to make a qpr work you are more or less forced to have a little character study (even post relationship): how do they perceive the qpr? how is it different from other friendships and/or past romances? or even: how do they deal with being in a relationship outside of the widely accepted romance/platonic binary? (and that's just off the top of my head)

(though I think that another big thing for me is that for the longest time I thought that "being in love" and "having a crush" were synonyms. my nine yo brain thought that after confessing (regardless of the outcome) these feelings just started fading after a while since theyd outgrown their usefulness. so even if the feelings were reciprocated you just stayed together out of convenience after a while - until you "fell in love" with another person. I know by now that that's ideally not the case but I think that I've thought of it that way for long enough for it to be baked into my worldview lmao)

i don’t really know how much my age affects my experience because i’ve never been an ‘older’ person on tumblr. from what i’ve seen/heard in the past, not necessarily in this fandom, is that fandoms tend to segregate themselves between adults and kids naturally because most adults don’t really wanna be friends with kids and kids are wary of adults nowadays so that might affect it somehow?? i don’t talk to any people younger than me on here because i disagree with a lot of their perspectives, though i’m sure there are some other based people around my age somewhere, and the mutuals i do have are all a few years older than me. that divide makes me wonder if that’s why i get less anons/casual interaction with people because i am younger but i only really fit in with circles of older people. it doesn’t bother me bc i get it, i wouldn’t wanna be friends with a 12 year old, so this is mostly just based off observations. obviously that isn’t a universal thing and i do actually talk to a few people on here but it seems to be a much lesser degree than other blogs in my circle.

sorry for the rant but y’know. People watching. i’ve only got the perspective of a teenager so i can only navigate my interactions with the people i currently know based on what i’ve observed from other comments on the age issue. i know there’s probably some question of the legitimacy/maturity of my analysis and theories because of my age, which is whatever, but i like to keep track of stuff like that. being younger but surrounded by the older people of the fandom is definitely unique and i don’t comment on it a lot but people tend to take it to two extremes when it comes to discussing how age affects our online experience and stuff

but yeah i don’t know how affected my experience actually is bc of my age, or if things are bc of my age or my position on certain topics, or anything else. i never ended up in any discord servers or chat stuff with people on here with the exception of the rare dm but idk if that’s an age thing or a Me thing or i just don’t know how that stuff works because im really bad at people but yeah !

uuhhhhhm. in terms of old old stuff i used to have an entire comic i was making when i was like. 12. sometimes i miss making comics. more recently. honestly i finish most of what i start bc i haaaate unfinished stuff but i sketched a version of the hapsburg lippp animation meme that i never ended up lining or anything. back in january of 2021 i think. maybe someday i'll remake it but thats a very slim chance

first off as a warning there's probably a bunch of typos here beacuse I just got new glasses for the first time in years and am currently literally seeing double.

mostly because a lot of people want to insist that certain pronouns (including nounself pronouns) aren't really neopronouns, because they don't like them, and they want things to only be considered neopronouns if they're like,,,,,,,respectable enough. Using star/stars/starself pronouns isn't considered respectably by these people, and neither is using it/its/itself pronouns.

Also because a lot of people just pretend that real life people who use it/its pronouns don't exist, so therefore it's not a problem when we get misgendered or when fictional characters who use it/its pronouns get misgendered.

A lot of people -- including binary trans and other nonbinary people -- will jsut straight up say that if you use pronouns other than she/her, he/him, or they/them, then they will not use your pronouns no matter what. This is the hill they're going to die on . They will not use your pronouns if you use anything other than she/her, he/him, or they/them. If you use nounself pronouns (like star/stars), they'll misgender you. If you use novapronouns (things like ze/hir), they'll misgender you. And if you use it/its pronouns, they'll misgender you.

A lot of people who are even okay with novapronouns and nounself pronouns wll flat out refuse to use it/its pronouns for people. I've had several people tell me to my face IRL that they're never going to use my pronouns, and I have to just pick a real set - she/her, or he/him, or they/them. They're not going to call me by my actual pronouns because tehy don't like the pronouns I've chosen for myself.

I made this post because the other post on the same topic let anyone vote, including people who don't use it/its pronouns, which is just inherently going to include people who hate people who use it/its pronouns.

I made this poll because I wanted to see what other people who use it/its thought of it.

I consider them to be neopronouns, because I consider any English pronouns other than she/her and he/him to be neopronouns, because those are the ONLY Acceptable pronouns in this language right now, even inside the Queer and trans communities.

People who use they/them pronouns are more likely to be accepted in Queer spaces than people who use any other neopronouns, and people who use it/its are, in my experience, the ones lwast likely to be respected even compared to any nova or nounself pronouns.

People tend to gloss over and ignore people who use it/its pronouns, even in instances where they're supporting people who use nova or nounself pronouns.

and the coining post for the word novapronoun, because so many people disparage nounself pronouns by trying to exclude them from the category of neopronouns.

what it boils down to is this:

people who use it/its pronouns are ignored and erased at every turn, even within the Queer, trans, and nonbinary communities, even with people who are fine with, and use, nounself and novapronouns. People who don't use it/its pronouns who want to argue we shouldn't be included in the neopronoun community are usually doing it because they think we're an embarassment or going to make them look bad.

I'm aroace and I was here for the whole ace exclusionism harassment campaign, and I don't feel like doing that again but now with pronouns.
