Hello hope you doing well!

I have a question when you started learning how to draw did you start with the basics like drawing lines and shapes every day?or did you start a different way I just don’t know where to start or how to start.

So I'll be quite honest, I'm aware I have a talent for art. Might be cause I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, but I know this stuff comes easier to me than some others for some reason. BUT I'm really not the best person to ask for art advice.

I never tried to go out of my way to learn in a class or learn from life (outside of the most basic high school art classes you can think of). I liked anime, I started drawing anime stuff cause I loved it and it gave me attention, but I should've taken a step back at some point before now and REALLY tried to learn the basics first, cause now I'm suffering the consequences..

Most of my art leaves me incredibly unsatisfied, I've been too lazy recently and nothing has humbled me more than starting this project where I have to actually know what I'm drawing and I have to make it make sense for an inking process, instead of just posting sketches

I cannot stress enough, please don't do what I did, learn and study from life first. (even if it's at the most basic level)

It's boring! Trust me, I know! The past few weeks, I've been spending almost exclusively drawing from life and studying anatomy, perspective and inking.

If you wanna start from scratch like I'm doing now, I really recommend buying an art book or finding a good place for references online and copying them. To prevent burnout, try to split your practice between drawing from life, then sketching characters that you like using those same principles (use references pls!)

Pinterest is also a really good tool for artists, I highly recommend it for references and small tutorials and tips! (Avoid AI like the plague)

The "just draw every day" thing people tell you will help you to an extent, but you do have to understand at least the basics of what you're drawing. Personally, drawing everyday mostly helps me 'stay in shape' as to say, making it easier to not get rusty and taking a long time to warm up before sketching.

Anyhow, this was very long. Sorry, it most likely wasn't the answer you were looking for, but I'm really not as good of an artist in the technical sense as some people think I am, just.. lucky I guess. At least for now.

Okay so I said I was drawing a sangihun kiss and that I would hopefully finish and post it tonight. Well I didn't finish it and I also got distracted and started drawing another sangihun thing and I love the sketch so much that as an apology y'all are getting that now. i cannot ever get over gi-hun actually. the fact that he chooses to believe in the good of humanity even after witnessing what he has, and that he joins the games AGAIN with (mathematically) even LESS chances of survival JUST because he wants to save people, people who DON'T CARE, people who are SELFISH and who continuously betray and hurt him just fucking KILLS ME. a very big critique from many people (and i've noticed, especially men) about the second season and gi-hun's character is that he is stupid. they find him to be stupid that he has this weak spot for an uncaring crowd, that he comes back to the games to save people who wouldn't think of him twice, instead of going to his daughter. they think that him caring and despising a system this deeply is a sign of weakness and stupidity.

but if anything, i find it admirable. maybe i can't bring myself to hate him because i think i'd do the same thing. i watch him on-screen and think, "yeah, i would do that too", every single mistake, every single thing, i get him. and he may look stupid to some but i think if anything, he's just too caught up in an ideal world in which people care, but i find it admirable that this is his personality even after witnessing the previous games. he still has hope, they haven't wiped it away from him. comparing him to in-ho is like night and day, because in-ho was broken by the games and came back to perpetuate that same hurtful system, while gi-hun was broken by the games and came back to break the people that created the system, and the system itself.

he speaks to me, as an individual who clings to hope until his very last breath, who can never seem to learn from his mistakes because he is so stubborn, he wants to prove that humanity could, and should, have hope and that it's worth to fight for it, not to just leave for a different continent and forget about it. that's what draws me to him, this endless fight in him, i can't find him stupid because he's so desperate to change things. and he never gives up even after his friends die before him.

idk i just am really unwell about gi-hun. i think people treat him too harshly. i'm unsure how well this is worded, but what i really want to say is that i don't think he should be perfect and immediately learn from every single mistake he has ever made. the fact that he is this broken given his past, even before the games he's set up as this really caring and traumatized individual, and that they double down on his same characteristics that make him so incredibly real... he's just really special to me. i really admire the way he is written and i think he's a really good representation of people who fight for a change even when it all seems lost. he's just that kind of guy that doesn't, couldn't, will never give up. and i really love that.

Price is the one to find you hours later, curled up against Maggie on the couch and he sinks down next to you. “What’s wrong pretty? You know I get worried when you shut us out.” He frowns, rubbing your arm until you lift your head to meet his eye, and his gaze softens.

“I just.. I don’t know.. I woke up upset and it’s just gotten worse through out the day. I thought it would get better but it didn’t and-“ you cut yourself off, taking a deep breath and Maggie presses snout into your belly, whining softly as she looks up at you.

“Take your time love.” Price murmurs, pulling you to his side and he feels your shoulders shaking. “I just didn’t want to be angry with you all for no reason, you don’t deserve that.”

“You think we’re not use to some misplaced anger?” He laughs, but he sees the way your face falls and he gently tilts your chin up so you’ll look at him. “We are here for you. You’ve been there for us since we got here pretty, we are more than happy to take care of you for awhile.” He caresses your cheek, pressing a kiss to your head before arranging the three of you to where you’re laying on top of him and maggie is tucked into his side, there is not nearly enough room for the three of you, but hearing you laugh when Maggie barks, leaving wet kisses on Price’s cheek to which he cringe’s, turning his head away.

“Damn it Mags! Stop!”

“She’s just saying thank you.”
