oh man its so random, but i either use the name lumi or clora for everything whenever i play rpgs (baldurs gate 3, dragon age, you name it) and clora originated from rune factory 4 LOL. theres a character named 'clorica' and i really liked that name, it sounds so elegant and fantasy ish, so i eventually just shortened it to clora bahaha. now its my go-to. i like how simple it is but it also sounds unique and works in modern AND fantasy settings, imo

my first and ONLY playthrough was as clora! i originally did try to make myself at the start, but i have short brown hair and straight across bangs, and they didnt have a style that felt 'me', so i went with just making a ravenclaw that i liked, and then gave her my go-to name of clora HAHA. and yea, i built up her and sebs relationship in my head as i was playing, especially with all the running around the castle i did. i just liked to imagine her constantly out of breath and flushed and seb just watching like ....🧍girl chill...

AND SPEAKING OF MY DARK RELIC COMIC/SMUT, my biggest advice for writing smut id say is to have a reasoning behind it, i guess? i focus a lot on their headspace/WHY they're fucking at that moment when i write it LOL instead of just the movements/sex for the sake of sex. in your case, the sexual tension leading up to the first time gives you SO much to work with, since you can just be in his head with how much hes looking forward to it, how much hes savouring it, how he's also nervous but enjoying it and trusting the other person, etc. the thoughts are hotter than the actual deed a lot of the times (which is why when clora and seb did it for the first time it ended up being like, 15k words of just foreplay and build up from sebs perspective LMAOO) so yeah id just try to focus on their emotions and desires if you can! and a lot of the times with consent stuff it CAN feel forced, and you dont even really need your characters to talk about that stuff verbally, at least not too much. you can do it in body language, or just something as simple as 'ill stop if you want'. it doesnt have to be a long therapist-like conversation about consent, which CAN tend to sound a little awkward and unrealistic (esp in the heat of the moment), if thats the problem you're having. HOPE I COULD HELP

Heeeyyyy Hydra! How ya feelin after floor 2 dropped?

hiii !!!! this is gonna be a long rant

okok after several playthroughs and gave up n just ended up watching kreekcraft beat it, i got a Lot of thoughts

floor 2 is DEFINITELY difficult but there's no surprise there. the only nitpick i have is the stark difference with the hotel - as in, in the hotel there are a lot of rooms to breathe, like take a quick breather between the chaos that can happen throughout the hotel.

in the mines, there's hardly room to breathe - screech constantly spawns which is def annoying and i feel they should balance it a bit more; there's waayyy less safe rooms (i.e. infirmary, curious' room etc.) and it sorta feels like the backdoor in terms of you need to leave every room like quickly.

i definitely love the update !! i like the new entities, though keep in mind i havent gone past door 50 so im not sure about the halfway point/ending. the new mechanics are nice, i just think there's room for balancing since yes the difficulty is insane.

i think the devs really outdid themselves and red talked about them revamping their whole system and engine(?) so future updates shouldn't take as long as this one

guiding and curious getting new death screens, it really does feel more personal that these otherworldly beings are speaking to us personally rather than just floating text on a rainy texture. hiii guiding hiii curious :3 :3

hide getting a redesign + new mechanic was something i was not expecting - i thought that odd red entity that was leaked a while ago was a new entity but apparently not. the heartbeat minigame was a cool twist, definitely had to readjust to the new mechanic. getting ambush in the early doors was Not it as an introduction to it though, seeing as you can no longer jump in and out (despite guiding telling me to, unless im doing something wrong) and have to do a minigame that gets more and more difficult the longer you stay in. could be that you have to get out before hide spawns to get back in but idk.

i just didnt like the fact that hide spawns Instantly in later rooms, or that it also happens in the hotel. i'd rather keep the timed closet than the minigame in the hotel tbh, and just make it seem like an enraged version of hide in the mines.

i reaallyyy love eyes new mechanic - it teleporting around instead of just staying in one spot? love that. also the sound it makes is so satisfying.you're doing great sweeties

screech is like. Super annoying. like i get that its his whole thing but theres a slight difference between bearable annoying and frustrating annoying. i think screech spawns waaayy too often especially with a screech and eyes combo. definitely should lower the spawn rate if they want screech to constantly be a threat throughout the mines and not like it only spawns in dark rooms in the hotel.

i loovee what they've done with halt's new hallway. the hotel one especially, its fucking sick and probably one of my favourite rooms. the mines' one is alright, i dont like the meanders but i guess its a switch up to the linear one in the previous floor. i love u halt keep doing what ur doing

the new seek chase was absolutely amazing, i cant believe we can Jump now. new music is banger, lsplash drop the spotify release NEOOWW . only nitpick is the rng of having to crouch right before an intersection, so you cant see where guiding is trying to lead you before its too late. probably a skill issue on me, but so far i havent beat seek chase yet.

next ramblings are gonna be based on kreekcraft's playthrough since i never got past door 50.

the whole 'locate the transponder(?) and enter a code then come back' is cool but definitely drags on for WAYY too long even for its size. library probably takes a third of the time it takes to beat this one. though i do like how the main transponder points to where it is.

ok the ending is Absolutely insane. another seek chase sure, in the new environment. then once you go in 100 (or rather, 200), he fills up the Whole place. like jesus christ seek what is your problem. the parkour looks like it feels a bit janky but that's probably a roblox thing. seek can be worm. silly worm. would you still love me if i was a w

and once the door closes seek stares you DOWN. definitely gives the main antagonist vibes unlike figure. also what happened to figure is he just stuck in the mines. seek's following us ig.

oh i forgot about figure tbh. sometimes its sections are a bit janky but i think? i think its cus im always in the section where gloombats spawn beforehand, and figure does NOT like the gloombats. also alarm clocks in the hotel's library, its so funny seeing figure run to it, stomp on it and scream. you fucking toddler/aff

overall i feel like the main issue with this floor is difficulty and also how every room feels like it drags onn. like waayyy too long. but overall, cool update, will be playing a lot more later. i Need to beat this damn floor. literally less than 800 people have beaten it.

So i've been watching blaze lifehammers lemuria playthrough to refresh my memory on Daseins story and one thing I don't think i've seen talked about is the fact Dasein felt envy towards us when we were being praised by the Ursai village he brushed it off as being the old one's feelings and not his but i'm like not so sure I feel like it could come into play again later

Like another thing i'm also heavily noticing that I think will fuel these envious feelings coming back is in early lemuria (I just got to the part where hes like I don't want to look like the old one anymore) it seems Dasein wants to be like us I mean the game is not shy about the fact we are 2 sides of the same coin (I mean the quest at the end of Karamelle when he first shows up is called they is us) but during Lemuria he often asks if we are doing the good thing seemingly looking for the wizards opinion on his actions furthermore when we get to the malughast questline he says to us "To create his heros. To create his Scions. To create his version of you, Wizard." We are good in his eyes we are a hero to him but when he tried to replicate what he saw from us it fell apart on Novus

Another another thing that I think confirms this even further is when we first reach him on Novus he was in the form of the abberant paradox (but I think his eyes were blue) it kinda took me by surprise because I was expecting to see Dasein but he was us and I know that he can change his form and he does so multiple times but I feel like theres some significance in him taking our form like that

Im excited to see if they'll play on this more I think it would add an interesting conflict between the Wizard and Dasein that we can hopefully work out !

if you're having trouble finding letsplays for buddy sim as a whole, here's one by mashe99, each video (many of them) is about 15-20 minutes long. another one i found is by RUIN, who has less videos in their letspay, that vary from 30-60 minutes. they also have a cover of one of the songs from the ost, so im willing to bet they felt Something about the game!! another one - though, its more of a playthrough? theres 2 videos and theyre both an hour long, is by gab smolders. this is the one i'm most familiar with, though only in the way that i've seen their thumbnails a few times lol. i've never actually watched the videos, but this is the one i'd rec most i guess? not for any solid reason though. there's also other playlists i saw out there (jesse cox) (mrkravin) (cadplays) (joystickjams) but those first 3 are the first that stood out to me as something i'd watch. i also cannot promise that any of these people have played all of the game. they may have gotten an ending and never played it again (there's 4 endings).. but if the game interests you enough after seeing an ending, you could watch somebody else get another ending..? there's also walkthroughs without commentary (1) (2) (walkthroughs for all the endings), and what's a walkthrough but a silent playthrough....

i also know that markiplier and call me kevin (dont think i have to link those) played the game - i know marikiplier didnt finish his (for this he will never see the lights of heaven (joking)) .. and .. i am unsure about kevin? he has three (i think?) videos on it, and one of the titles references a lategame thing, so i'm assuming he got at least near the end. i'm also assuming he got the 3rd ending if i remember who he is correctly (the guy that aims to get the worst endings in games, i think???? or is that somebody else...)

finished my second playthrough of signalis, was going for the artifact ending. then loaded my save and got the memory ending. such a good game aaaa

the memory ending made me cry, it was really heartwrenching when ariane said sorry i dont remember, i just crumpled. watching elster be so exhausted was a lot.

not really sure if i understand the artifact ending. i feel like either its really vague (on top of all the other vagueness) or if im missing something. it kind of feels like a burial of arianes memory? like elster dies and we see ariane thikning about her and elster dancing in the wrecked ship? i’m not sure. maybe someone could give me their interpretation of it?

i also found out that theres a difficulty setting and really wished i had set it to survival before my second playthrough. woulda been nice!!! I do have one more ending so i might play the game again but might also just watch it on youtube and play the game again some other time(gotta let it ruminate so i can go back in with different eyes), I wanna get all the achievements anyways.

its crazy to me that the game exists the way it does. the style, the mechanics, the story, the music, everything about it oozes so much passion and care and thought. very few games have made me want to stare at every part of it to figure out how they made it look the way it did (THE GAME IS SO STYLISTICALLY RICH LIKE HOIW DID THEY DO ALL THAT) and the game mechanics are so nice to my brain, everything is so tactile and clicky and inventory management and ammo management and horror stratgey and the flesh and rust and death and love and lesbians and robots and anime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! edit:(thinking about the first time i played compared to the second. i was considerably less scared since i had a clue of waht was going on but the fear that i felt playing the first time was special to me. i really like games with stories about ‘time loops’ because the replay-ability is baked in in a cool way. especially with how the game throws information at you, viewing things again having experienced perspective shifts from information is really cool. seeing scenes again re-contextualized makes my brain go ^-^(hots quest ding sound) but going in completely blind and being afraid of everything (i especially remember being scared of the dream beach, i had literally no clue what to expect and it was nice) it all had a different flavor than the second time which is cool because i feel like i experience that kind of emotion change *with* elster. (girlie needs a FUCKING cuddle nap)

the way the game balances reality and the surreal i think is super neat. i love surrealist dream stuff a lot and i think that a video game is a super good medium for that kind of experiential stuff that really inspires me to wanna make video games. especially because then theres also this super nerdy sci fi stuff going on about robots and space regimes and magical tech(my favorite) and planetary systems and military systems and all that good shit. i similarly wanna get nerdy about stuff like military logistics while also telling a story about gay robots and girls that keep missing each other just barely in the space time continuum. i love that the game tells you a lot but also is vague and also says fuck you (affectionate) stop looking for answers and just feel it. it explains just the right amount to not feel esoteric while keeping enough vague to leave a lot up to interpretation/figure it out by playing it again/thinking about it. it plays with themes and reality and reoccuring symbolism and all that good shit that makes stories addicting to think about.) ((also one of the endings requiring beating the game once among other things that keep between playthroughs, yummyyy. games that know they are games/stories/worlds that are aware of themselves., thats good shit right there))

Mommy by R.I.P -- please don't be put out by the name! It's an instrumental from an animation on youtube; the music is very atmospheric, and it has a lively build-up.

Trailer by Alec Holovca -- this is from the Night In The Woods ost, and also an instrumental. If you haven't played the game or watched the playthrough then I really recommend it. It has a particular vibe that I think marauders fans would enjoy, although I've never heard anyone talking about it. And, of course, you should start with the trailer for the game! Wow, I sound like an ad 🫠

Що якщо by DoSliz, SadSvit -- Ukrainian post punk song. The lyrics are roughly about changing as a person and growing up. I roughly translated the chorus to "what if we forget all of it // who we are and who we could be // can not find the sense and meaning // only time that keeps on running." Really reminds me of marauders, so it's only natural to recommend it. Oh, and the name just translates to 'what if'.

Muse by Isabela LaRosa -- Maybe you've heard it, maybe you haven't. If you haven't then please please please give it a listen. LaRosa has an outstanding voice, and the lyrics🤭🦋🦋 The instrumentals are lovely as well, of course!!

Вона сама сюди прийшла by Zhadan i Sobaky -- I LOVE THIS SONG . ITS- okay, this is gonna be kinda long. Style is rock/punk-rock. The song name transletes to 'she came here herself' or 'she came here alone' and it's about the the singers description of a mysterious woman they met at a party, how she was a complete antithesis, making people meet and then making them argue, how she "set fire to the curtains, like pirate flags", how she defied authority. After the first chorus the singer begins to have a full crisis or something, it's up to interpretation. Either they straight up go insane or just their morals change a whole lot and try to come to twrms woth it. The chorus: "In the morning I started to sort out the debris// Where did she go and what was her name?// Why can't I get enough of evil?// No one called her, she came here herself". The most fire line: "... knew that everything in the world was built on faith// That this damn love is full of miracles// She stood by and did not interrupt."

I'd reccomend obsessed by Olivia Rodrigo and La Paura Del Buio by Måneskin but you are already a fan of both artists so I feel theres no need.

Naked Poetry by SKYLAR -- This song is outstanding amazing and great. It is mildly explicit tho and has a Dumbledore jumpscare, so be warned. The best part is at 1:40 if you want to skip the jumpscare.

Сон Амур by Schmalgauzen -- It's Jazz-esk. It's pining. It's romantic. It's poetic (although I cant translate the full lyrics). It's theatric. You can look up Schmalgauzen preformances! "Confucius writes with your hand// I'm taking you to the grave, my dear// Before I have time to hurt with shame// Judas touches [] forehead with his lips// People are burning sulfur above me// And you're already alone// And I'm sleeping alone" (Note: the blank is cause I'm not sure who it's reffering to)

Backstory: “Psychic circus kid with a cursed blood line, who ran away to become a psychic secret agent”

• “They have psychic powers, the main thing of the games, and because of this run away from their family in the circus, to a summer camp where the first game begins. This is because their family hates psychics because one cursed the family to die in water.”

• “Born and raised in the Aquato family circus. Was always told by his father of a bloody past feud with a family of fortune tellers from a rival circus wherein they cursed the Aquatos to all die in water. Because of this, Raz assumed his father hated psychics and so would practice his psychic abilities in secret. He grew up reading a comic series about a psychic spy agency known as the Psychonauts. When he was given a pamphlet for Whispering Rock Summer Camp, a secret government camp designed to train young psychic into Psychonauts, he decided to run away from home to secretly go to the camp.”

• “Raz comes from a large family of acrobatic circus preformers. his family is very predjudiced against psychics, because of the curse that a psychic placed on their family. some fun things thats happened in my early access playthrough with them below the cut

>Galethor not intervening when Aradin and Zevlor yell at each other and watching with great amusement as Zevlor gets knocked on his ass. I think that was the moment Astarion became intrigued by Gale (yes his nickname is gale, no i did not know of gale the companion before i made this character because galethor was created for an upcoming d&d campaign asdhfdlk)

>Gale thinking he tricked the teifling child by stealing the ring but failing every perception check to notice his bag was lighter. Very in character no notes.

>Playing heavily into exaggerating the story of the fight for Volo.

>Not taking the wyvern poison so Nettie was killed. Galethor ransacking her entire laboratory and walking out of the grove like nothing happened. And since the teifling child was spared no one questioned "why do you have the healer's circlet???" like i find that particularly silly. This man getting away with blatant murder will never not be funny.

>Making Vorru bow to Lae'zel for his own (and Astarion's) entertainment.

>I will definitely break some hearts with this one but to be fair, I didn't think this would be the outcome but it Just Makes Sense. Rescuing Halsin went sideways because Galethor decided pelting the bear with rocks was funny. Then the bear got angry. He also took that chance to kill some goblins since they won't become hostile from friendly fire. Anyways, after Halsin was dead at Galethor's feet he went "well fuck guys what do we do now :(" then cast speak with dead to get his information anyways. I hope that Astarion approval was worth it, Gale (it was).

ranking games ive played in 2023:

hi! its that time of the year where i think back on the games and shows ive done this year and rank them based on personal enjoyment :-) i didnt play a lot of games this year, since i played all of them (ok all but one of them) for longer than usual.

and, as always, thank u gifmakers for making the gifs im including here and for all the work u do 💛

7. death end re;quest (2019)

bad game. couldnt finish it. what the back of the box said is not even close to the game’s actual vibe. combat system seems interesting but the rest of the story and characters and writing and design and visuals suck so bad it tanks the whole thing.

6. guilty gear xx ^ core plus r (2012)

…ive learned i just dont enjoy playing fighting games this year. i tried so hard. i want to like them. i just dont love them enough to get thru all of the stories in this game. its fun enough to get to learn all the characters, but needing to play so many of them so well to get it all…puts this game near the bottom of the list. this is the first game in my life ive ever watched someone else do a playthrough of, because i just didnt enjoy playing it enough to do it myself

5. guilty gear strive (2021)

as mentioned i dont love fighting games HOWEVER this one ranks significantly higher because i like the training modes where you complete specific challenges, and the game's visual appealing enough to make up for how bad i am at it.

4. ys ix: monstrum nox (2021)

ive decided to make it it december tradition to play an ys game, after playing ys viii last year. i’m still not finished it (in chapter 6 at time of writing) but it’s really fun! navigating the city with each character’s powers is super fun, and as with the last game i really enjoy the combat system. theres a few twists in the game i’m REALLY excited to figure out, and the cast of characters has charmed me enough to rank this number 4

3. tales of arise: beyond the dawn (2023)

i went back and replayed the main game in preparation for the DLC, so i put about 170 hours into this this year. both the main game and the DLC have some story issues, but the DLC does a better job of getting its points across. if it werent for how much i love the top games in this list, this would be first — i'm a total sucker for the tales games, and the gameplay in this one is so fun (im a law main) that i could keep playing this game over and over again. i also really like what the DLC did with the alphen/shionne storyline, and i think nazamil is a very interesting and well-portrayed character.

2. octopath traveler ii (2023)

octopath my beloved… i was already destined to love this since the first game is one of my all time favourites, but the sequel improved on it in so many ways. the crossed path stories, the in-combat party banter, and the interaction the characters have is a huge improvement on the first. as always, its extremely fun to play, the environment is gorgeous, the characters are well written, and the soundtrack is genuinely the best game soundtrack i've ever heard (along with the first octopath's soundtrack).

1. fire emblem: three houses (2019) and fire emblem warriors: three hopes (2022)

these two get to tie because theyre functionally the same game to me, since i value the characters and story more than the gameplay. these games have spoiled me for other games what the fuck. the huge cast of well done characters all with unique skills and gameplay elements. the different versions of the story based on your house. the replayability. i played each of these THREE TIMES THROUGH this year.
