You know how you look back at past shitty connections, friends, family dynamics, and relationships and you're like "I can't believe I let them treat me that way"? I think it hits differently with disability because when you're disabled you don't always even know that you're being mistreated and/or abused in regards to it.
I know statistically disabled people are more likely to be abused but sometimes there's an additional type of abuse that's hard to identify even in hindsight because no one tells you how abusive it is.
But ableist abuse relating to your disability can look like:
Pushing you to do things beyond your limitations despite their awareness of them.
Blaming you for the "inconveniences" brought on by things beyond your control (ex: missing a movie because you had to wait for your pain meds to kick in).
Not allowing you to take breaks or antagonizing you when you do.
Bullying or making fun of things you can't help like gait, a lisp, an embarrassing symptom.
Trying to "cure" or "fix" you, often framing it as "helping" you. Sometimes they look similar and you might be able to tell by their reaction towards lack of improvement.
Holding over you the things they have to do for you (cooking, cleaning, driving, working, etc).
Giving ultimatums that demand things of you that you can't do (getting a job, keeping up with multiple chores).
Using insulting terms, language, and/or slurs that you have not permitted them to or in a context where there is intent to harm you.
Interrogating you about your disability or trying to find discrepancies between your experiences and what they've heard/read/seen about it.
Implying or saying anything along the lines of you faking, being lazy, or exaggerating. Reducing you to a hypochondriac, saying you enjoy being disabled because you seem to like having things done for you, or that you're lazy or abusing them by depending on them for things.
Asking you about it not to learn more, but to use it against you in some way.
Having a martyr complex, acting as if they're a hero for giving you the support you deserve.
Calling you a burden, implying you to be one, or treating you like one.
Acting like you owe them a debt, sometimes even demanding some kind of repayment. Keeping track of money they spend on you that you won't be able to pay back, feeling entitled to things like control, sex, a portion of government benefits, etc.
Self victimizing. They act like you being disabled causes more suffering to themselves than you.
Accusing you of being addicted to your medication. If you genuinely develop an addiction a normal response is concern not rage, finger pointing, etc. if you don't have one baseless claims are very harmful
Trying to force you to stop "depending" on things you need like medication and disability aids
Comparing you to others that are doing "better" than you. Maybe showing you inspiration porn of someone with no legs for example doing incredible things- which is great for them but the "I don't let my disability stop me so you can do anything" shit is harmful. Some of us will get very unwell if we try, and some just can't.
Trying to make others also see you as dramatic, faking, or lazy. Often embarrassing and mocking you as well.
Withholding things you need like medication or disability aids as a punishment
Saying your disability is karma or something inflicted by a divine entity/religious figure. Maybe as punishment for not praying, being queer, or something else they disagree with.
Saying that it's a result of being "promiscuous"/LGBT. For instance if you have HIV or ME/CFS that was a result of something like mononucleosis ("kissing disease").
Shaming you for things related to your disability beyond your control or expressing embarrassment over these things. including but not limited to: appearance (general but also things like say a lupus butterfly rash or weight gain/loss), having to lay down in public (ex: with POTS), inability to keep up with hygiene, etc.
Lacking boundaries and acting as if they are entitled to information or intrusion of your space/belongings due to the power they hold over you and assistance they may provide.
Implying/saying you're living an extended vacation. Maybe one they say they wish they had because they have to do x y z while you "sit around"
Abandoning you solely for your disability (ex: because you can't hang out, they don't want a disabled partner, think you're faking, etc)
Note that someone doing one or two of these things a few times doesn't always mean they're abusing you (also depends on which). It's about the patterns and frequency of this behavior as well as refusal to improve once aware that they're hurting you. People who care about you don't want to hurt you and the normal response is to do their best not to repeat the action that negatively affected you
There are more examples and you can feel free to list some
✨This is about physical illnesses and disabilities, please don't derail✨

Spoon Theory
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is arguably the single most important The Bear meta post I will ever make so please bear with me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first spoon we see in the entire series is when Carmy takes Sydney's spoon to try her stew. This is right after he cut his hand from not being able to find his sharp knife, and before he has to meet with Natalie to get Mikey's jacket, which was stressing him out. She "gave him a spoon" and a bit of positivity when he needed to calm down and get some energy by knowing at the very least Sydney can cook well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Needing a spoon is needing help. When he hands over the brigade to Sydney he is waving around spoons the entire episode, when she really needed his help and his "spoons". Later on Sydney is not afraid to just ask him for his help.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the risotto she gave him a "spoon" that would help the restaurant, that brought in a good review and customers, but he didn't have enough of his own "spoons" to deal with it as he was stressing out over the window that just got shot through and the IRS needing the missing tax returns. Right before trying the risotto Carmy had told Richie he is afraid of something good happening. He is afraid of Sydney and him doing well, because the better it gets the more it will hurt him when something goes wrong. That is why he keeps self sabotaging the restaurant and doubting Sydney.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Sydney quit, she is still using her spoons for mental energy to make sure Marcus is okay and to try and figure out her next steps career wise. Carmy grabbed a spoon to open the tomato can lid, which he really didn't need because he could've just used the can opener, and then found the money. When he finds the money they both know they would be fine on their own, she could find another job, he could fix up The Beef. But they still need each others emotional spoons to achieve their passions, so he reaches out and she comes back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Season 2 she did need his "spoons" to help create the menu and decide on the details for the restaurant, but he barely gave her any because he was still so caught up in his past trauma and the literal and metaphorical forks in his life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fixing the table really didn't physically need more than one "spoon"/person. But he needed her there to work through his mental block. With the inspiration food tour, she did it on her own and she didn't physically need him for it, she needed his emotional spoons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When they are not communicating well with each other and Carmy is trying to reach back and be involved again, he gets as close as he can to her spoon without actually using it.
And now the dark side of spoons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The originator of spoon theory has lupus and first came up with this theory at a restaurant to explain what it was like living with the condition to a friend. They could've easily said Sydney's mom died of cancer or an accident or anything else. But this is all so intentional, out of all the things it is Lupus. I don't want Sydney to be sick as much as the next person, but Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that has higher likelihood of developing when you have a family member with it, and can be triggered by environmental factors such as stress. It is an invisible illness and Christine's own handle is butyoudontlooksick, which could really explain Sydney and what she has going on behind her walls that people can't see. She has been a rock to so many people and over exerting herself, but there might come a time soon when Sydney will genuinely need other peoples "spoons", especially Carmy's, because she's all out.
Tumblr media
Now that Carmy said he is choosing to give Syd his focus aka his "spoons", will he actually be able to follow through?

AVATAR MASTERLIST | Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Tumblr media
Neteyam and you landed close to their home. So close that Jake and Neytiri became alert when they heard the screams of their two children. They both looked at each other with concern, getting up from the comfort of their home. Running to see what was happening. It was very strange that you and Neteyam were arguing. Neteyam quickly pulled you down from his ikran, the difference in size at the moment bothering you so much. You couldn't escape from his grip, still holding on to your arm. You try to move away from his grip, but it was not working.
"Let me go!!! Let me go" you shout, neteyam relaxed his grip on your arm a little. So you could move away from him while giving him a push. "What the hell were you doing with Tsutey? Are you crazy?" says Neteyam, who is screaming. Both of them are showing their horns, walking back and forth. You were about to throw yourself on top of neteyam. "You shouldn't have treated Tsutey like that, stop interfering in my life," you say. Neteyam was upset, pacing back and forth. He couldn't analyze what he just saw, tsu'tey his role model, the family friend for so many years kissing his sister.
"He was kissing my sister…of course I had to react like that" speaks neteyam, almost shouting. Not realizing that your parents had arrived. They approached quietly, wanting to hear the reason why their older children were arguing. They were a little hidden, but it wasn't until Jake heard the word kiss and tsu'tey on the same line that all their alarms went up. Jake quickly runs towards you, while neytiri tries to keep up with him. "Ma jake" neytiri can already see discomfort jake has, of course she heard the same thing too. Jake approaches, he had an authoritative posture placing himself in between the two of you to have more space. "Nothing… nete" you start to speak. But neteyam walks to now stand in front of his father. "I found Y/N far away in the floating mountains and he was with tsu'tey…they were kissing" neteyam says. He felt proud of himself, he had fulfilled his mission to take care of you. Not realizing that he was doing the opposite.
Jake feels like a bucket of cold water is being thrown directly in his face. He had just heard what his son had told him. His baby…his little princess? Jake looks down to meet yours, which you had a terrified look on your face. Your eyes were watery, and you were starting to get nervous. "You kissed who?" shouts Jake. Neytiri noticing her partner's behavior, runs to her daughter. Pulling her into his arms, so that she was lying on his body. She knew that Jake would not hurt her daughter, but it was an instinctive move. Something motherly…neytiri could feel how nervous and afraid you were right now. "Jake…calm down" neytiri speaks. Trying to calm jake, who was already agitated. His tail was wagging from side to side, his breathing was fast. And he was looking at you very angrily. "Dad… I" you pause a little. Everyone was waiting for your next answer. You look up and look at your mother. "Mom…I love him, he is good to me" you hear a growl from your father. You have never heard him so upset, so you hug your mother more.
Even this scared neteyam, who had moved more to neytiri's side. "No…no and no. Tsu'tey and you can't be…no no no no" jake kept repeating the same thing. He was furious. "Ma jake..calm down, we have to talk about this" neytiri says trying to find some solution. She was a little confused too. But she was taking this very calmly. It was not something out of this world, she could even say that jake's reaction was a bit ridiculous for her. Her daughter had met her mate, what was wrong with that? Besides, he was a navi who fulfilled all the requirements to be a good mate. And he was tsu'tey they knew him. But neytiri could not understand how jake was feeling right now. Jake might have been all this time in pandora, but some things could not change.
In Jake's head, Tsu'tey was older than you and he couldn't accept the fact that his daughter was in love with him. It was not right, his daughter could be of legal age. But there were many young Navi males that he was sure would be willing to be with his daughter. Why tsu'tey? Did he force her or did he push her? His thoughts were making him angrier. But it wasn't until he heard a voice in the distance that made him angrier. Tsu'tey had been following neteyam since they left the waterfalls. He had gotten a little lost, because neteyam's ikran was quite fast. So as soon as he landed on the ground. He tried to find them, so he decided he would go to your home. He had to know what was going on, he was worried about you. Your brother had taken you away very abruptly. "Y/n" shouts tsu'tey jogging towards the group of friends. His jogging stops slowly, when the man sees an angry jake approaching him.
Tsu'tey was no fool, he knew that jake was much bigger than him. In stature and in position. He had to respect him, he could not rebel. So he stops, as he sees jake approaching. "Get away from my daughter…you fucker" jake says, pushing tsu'tey to the ground. He falls on his back. "Jake…can we talk" tsu'tey calls him by his first name. Jake was about to launch himself over the man, until neytiri steps in front of him. Stopping any move jake could think of. "What's wrong with you? Calm down" neytiri yells, now she is the one who is furious. "You can't act like that" neytiri is scolding jake, while you had already run to where tsu'tey was on the ground. The push was strong enough. "Are you okay?" asks tsu'tey, he can see that you were crying. And you didn't want to look him in the eyes. But you were still helping him up. "Get away from him" shouts jake, pulling away from neytiri. Grabbing you by the hand dragging you towards him. Jake looks for neteyam with his eyes, who is cautiously looking at the whole situation. "I want you to take your sister home," jake says. "And you…I want you away from tsu'tey, got it," jake says, lowering himself to your level. You lower your gaze further. "Yes sir" you speak, as you feel your father let you go with neteyam. "Y/n..wait" says tsu'tey, but you don't dare look back. You had so much respect for your father, you would not break his rules
Jake quickly turns to tsu'tey. "I want you out of my daughter's life… you played with the trust I had in you. So you were the fucking crush everyone was talking about? Just stay away, otherwise we're going to have problems" says jake, warning tsu'tey. "Jake please we have" says tsu'tey. "You need to go…go. Then I'll come and get you" says neytiri, pushing tsu'tey a little to get him further away from jake. He had turned around and started to walk around in one place. "neytiri…I want her," tsu'tey says, looking at her friend. Neytiri's heart broke, tsu'tey's look was so sincere, there was honesty in his voice. "I…I'll talk to you later" says neytiri, she really doesn't know how to act to the situation she was going through. But she sees how her friend obeys her. And walks out of the area. … You arrived at the family hut with your brother, you didn't say a word to him the whole way. Neteyam was trying to talk to you, he knew he had rationed impulsively but you had to understand that he cared about you a lot. "Y/N please…listen to me" says neteyam as you both entered his home. Kiri and lo'ak had arrived minutes before, they were ordering something. When they see you rush in, Kiri notices your tears. She stops you in your tracks, grabbing your hand. "Sister…what happened?" says Kiri. You turn around, and Kiri drags you closer. Now you were in front of her, and your sister was wiping tears from your cheeks. "Nothing… " you are crying, you were a crying sickness. Making kiri hug you, and put her arms around you. "shhhh calm down" kiri comforts you, while lo'ak moves quickly to kiri's side. Searching for your face, stroking your hair. Both brothers see neteyam, who was watching everything. "What have you done to her?" asks lo'ak.
Neteyam tried to explain everything calmly, the more he talked the more annoyed lo'ak and even kiri were getting upset. You kept hugging kiri, burying your face deeper into the hollow of his neck. You looked like a baby hugging its mother. Lo'ak stood in front of his older brother. "And that's it…I really did what daddy told me to do," says neteyam. "That's your problem…you didn't think about Y/N. And why she was doing that. Plus you acted like tsu'tey was a stranger. Please…we all knew something was going on with tsu'tey and our sister!" shouts lo'ak. Neteyam is struck dumb, as if they all knew. "You guys knew?" says neteyam somewhat confused. "Of course" says kiri, holding you tighter. "And why didn't they tell me anything?" asks neteyam trying to get closer to you. "Don't touch me" you push brother. Lifting you off the ground, and walking over to where your hammock was. Kiri and lo'ak look at him with annoyance, Kiri still had his arms outstretched. "You need to go to her and apologize," says kiri. Neteyam started to approach your hammock, he touches the side of your back. "Y/n…I didn't mean to, I'm sorry" says neteyam. He didn't get any response from you, so he lets his head lay on your ribs. "Sorry" speaks neteyam. "I'll talk to dad…he'll understand that you two like each other" says neteyam. You turn to look at your brother, who is teary-eyed. If there was one thing you knew very well, it was that neteyam was a sensitive. "He won't do it…he's too stubborn. But don't worry, I'll be fine" you speak. Noticing how your other two brothers move closer to you, surrounding you. You knew they supported you, even if they all disagreed. You look back at neteyam, and give him a shy smile. You couldn't be mad at him, you know his attitude was instinct. You know he wants the best for you. …
Jake keeps walking back and forth. He was still upset, he couldn't believe what was happening right now. Neytiri walks up, and grabs her partner's arm. This takes jake by surprise, but he didn't expect neytiri to punch him in the arm. "Are you out of your mind… did you just see what you just provoked?" says neytiri. "Wait!!! Are you mad at me?" says Jake. Neytiri smirks in annoyance, and yells at Jake. "You fool!!! You just pushed your daughter's mate away" says neytiri. " mate!!!WHAT?" jake's mouth dropped open, like what mate?. Tsu'tey could not be your mate. "Neytiri…tsu'tey is too old for y/n…no no and no" yells jake a little. He was having a crisis. He can see neytiri start to look at him curious and confused. Sure, now he understood. Neytiri didn't share his concern, because his annoyance that his daughter was younger than his supposed partner. It was not a concern for the omaticaya. Love is love…and when two navis choose each other there is nothing that can be done. On the other hand it took neytiri a while to get the message that jake wanted her to understand. But after several minutes she was able to understand.
"Come here" commands neytiri, taking jake's hand. Making him sit on a set of rocks that were next to them. "Y/N is a ready-made woman. She is ready to find a mate and start her family" neytiri says calmly. She wanted jake to understand everything. "Yes I know…but" jake tries to speak but neytiri interrupts him. "She is of age…there is nothing wrong. If tsu'tey is the one you better accept it. Besides…" neytiri lowers her head, now she was the one showing sadness. "It has been so hard for y/n to fit in with the clan…I came to think she would never find someone" says neytiri. "Tsu'tey is a good man…accept that. I will go talk to him and confirm if his intentions are good" says neytiri. "And how will you know that?" jake asks with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "I will know…everything will be fine. Now you have to think about how you will apologize to your daughter" neytiri says. Jake's tail tucks between his legs, now he was the one getting nervous. How was he going to apologize to you.
Jake and neytiri arrive at the home. They found all their children on place. Neteyam, kiri and lo'ak. They were sitting around talking about you, while you and tuk were taking a nap in your hammock. It had been a while since you had arrived, so to calm down you decided to take a nap and tuk always accompanied you. "Did she fall asleep a long time ago?" asks Jake, approaching your hammock. Stroking your hair, adjusting some strands of hair you had on your face. "Mmm yes" says neteyam timidly. He still felt bad. Jake turns to look at neytiri, who was looking at him with concern. Jake gets a little closer to your face and gives you a kiss on the cheek. "Baby…get up. I want to talk to you?" jake says, seeing you whine, and somewhat sleepily you turn and hug tuk more. "mmmm" you whine. "Ma jake let her rest… later you'll talk to her" says neytiri, caressing jake's shoulder. They both walk away and decide to let the afternoon run quietly. You didn't get up all afternoon and kept sleeping all night. Even tuk had already gotten up, and you settle in so you can continue to sleep. "Y/n…baby come eat" jake says quietly. He was waiting for you to answer. But he only got silence in response. … … Morning came quickly, and neytiri left the house earlier than usual. Everyone was still asleep, so she went out quietly. She wanted to talk to tsu'tey. After all…she knew it was her job to know how he felt about his daughter. She was doing this for her mate, she wanted Jake to feel secure in his daughter's new partner. Neytiri approached tsu'tey's home, to her surprise she saw her friend getting ready to go hunting. Tsu'tey was more than her childhood friend. He was like her brother, once her fiancé. She knew what he had been through, neytiri wanted tsu'tey to be happy. "Tsu'tey" spoke neytiri, the man turned to look at neytiri. The woman could notice how he just gave her a simple greeting. But he did not smile at her as he always did. "What's wrong neytiri? I don't want more…" says tsu'tey moving a little away from the closeness neytiri had created between the two of them. "I want to talk to you…about Y/N" says neytiri. tsu'tey's eyes widen. "Did something happen to her? Is she okay?" tsu'tey approaches, neytiri stops him by placing her hands on her friend's shoulders. "No…she's perfect. But I want to talk about what's going on between the two of you," says neytiri. Tsu'tey stands silently, relaxes a little and invites neytiri into his home.
This situation was difficult and strange for tsu'tey. Why did he have to be going through all this. This was not normal in the clan. Why was it such a problem to be with you. He knew he had to ask your father's permission, but why was he being denied to be by your side. He was a good man, one of the best warriors in the clan. He would give his daughter a good life, be a good mate and take care of her. He didn't understand why Jake had acted this way. Neytiri sat down and very calmly explained to tsu'tey everything that was happening. Why jake was acting like this, and what his reasons were for being as upset as he was the day before. Even for her it was difficult, but she tried to do the best she could. "I want you to go and talk to her…I don't want this to break you two up" says neytiri. "I promise you that I only want what is best for her" says tsu'tey. "I know…and don't worry about jake. He'll understand…don't worry" neytiri gives a warm smile to her brother. She approved of this union..she knew they both deserved this, deserved to be together.
Jake was waiting for neytiri to approach him. She looked quite happy, her tail was wagging from side to side. "So?" asks Jake. Neytiri walks over and gives him a quick kiss on the lips. "He's coming to talk to her…" says neytiri. Seeing the look of annoyance on jake's face. The woman places her hands on her partner's face. "You have to let your little girl grow up…she will be fine. The feelings they both feel are good. Eywa has everything under control. Take it easy," says neytiri. Jake leans back a little on the touch and laughs. "y/n went for a walk… she didn't want to talk to me. She didn't even want to eat anything" jake says. "She'll be fine…you'll see she'll get over her anger. And you need to apologize too," says neytiri. Jake did apologize to you, as soon as you woke up in the morning. Your father ran to apologize to you, but you didn't speak to him again. You just got ready to leave and told neteyam that you were going for a walk. "I'm going to walk for a while neteyam..so you can tell dad" you speak, neteyam just nodded with a face. Giving a quick glance at his father, who was across the room.
You wanted to go outside to clear your mind, you were still upset with your father. The situation that had happened the day before was very painful for you. Why did he have to act like that, he had behaved very badly with tsu'tey. He had done nothing wrong…but you knew this was going to happen. You knew your father was going to act like this. You were lost in thought, sitting on one of the rocks near the fruit trees. Some omaticaya women were picking fruit, and from time to time they looked at you with concern. You had always been so cheerful, and now you had a sad look on your face that was very noticeable. " Honey, are you all right?" asks one of the women. You lift your face, laughing a little to relax the woman's concern about you. "Yeah…I'm fine" you feel her give you a squeeze on the shoulder and continue working. Tsu'tey had arrived at the fruit picking area, he knew you used to be in this area. When he arrived he was able to locate you quickly, it wasn't as if you were hard to find. But he was surprised to see you sitting on the rock, playing with your toes. You seemed so lost in thought. He walks over and picks a fruit from the tree and kneels down in front of you. You didn't even notice his presence, your head was down. But you are surprised when you feel a strong kiss on the top of your head. "Hello sweetheart" says tsu'tey with a big smile on his face. Out of excitement you let out a gasp and jump in for a hug. Wrapping your arms around his neck, burying your face. "You came back!!!" you almost shout, pulling away a little. To place your hands on his face, analyzing every expression he was making. He looked so happy, the scene was not foreign to all the navi women who were working nearby. It was strange for them, but they didn't decide to make a big deal out of it.
"Why wouldn't I?" says tsu'tey. "Sorry for what happened…I didn't" you tried to apologize, you were so embarrassed. "yawnetu…you don't have to apologize. You didn't do anything" tsu'tey comes over and gives you a quick kiss on the cheek. You notice that they were in a public area, where your father could see you. So you pull away and push tsu'tey a little. "Hey..no wait!!! Dad might see you and" you speak, while you feel tsu'tey holding you more by the waist. "Relax…we talked and everything will be fine" tsu'tey says, you could tell he was in such a good mood. "What do you mean you talked to him? Everything is ok?" your excitement was so big, you go closer to give him a kiss. But you hear some giggles in the background, and you turn to see some little girls giggling nearby. You knew it was innocent smiles. Tsu'tey giggles a little, and comes over to give you another kiss on the forehead. "Yes…everything is resolved" says tsu'tey.
And yes, everything had been settled. Before going to look for you, tsu'tey had taken it on himself to go and talk to jake. He knew that neytiri had told him not to go, but he had to settle this somehow. He didn't care what happened. Besides, jakesully couldn't claim anything from him. She shouldn't have treated him like that. He went to the Sully home and confronted Jake. To his good fortune, Jake was in a different mood. He seemed calm and passive. Apparently neytiri had talked to him, and made him understand. Because Jake even greeted him, and apologized to him. They were able to talk, and set the issues straight. Tsu'tey could understand Jake's point of view, you were his eldest daughter, and you were different from the rest of the clan. Jake didn't want them to play with your feelings, to use you. But after almost an hour of talking to the man, Jake accepted tsu'tey. Not completely and he still had his doubts, but he knew his daughter would be okay. Besides, neytiri was at his side, pressing his hand. Just to make sure he would accept his daughter's new partner.
After a while, 4 months to be exact. You and Tsutey had united before eywa. And you were preparing your new home, tsu'tey insisted that he had to have a completely new place for you, that would be comfortable and functional for you. Although you kept reminding him that you could live comfortably in his home, he insisted that he had to have one from zero. And he was taking care of all that work. Neytiri was trying to keep Jake from getting so involved in your relationship with Tsu'tey. He was always giving tsu'tey opinions on how the whole place should be, so that you would feel comfortable. But neytiri would tell him to leave you alone, that you two knew what you were doing. On the other hand, the one who was very excited about your new life was Kiri. Your sister was so happy for you, but on the other hand neteyam was still a little suspicious about your new life change. He was having a hard time getting used to living without you. He was very close to you, and the thought of you leaving the family home was killing him, but you were trying to calm him down.
"Come here!!!" you shout, as you run towards one of the spirit trees. As you heard tsu'tey's footsteps behind you. The little smiles and shouts of enjoyment, could be heard all around the forest. You moved forward faster, and reached the tree. It was a quiet night, tsu'tey told you that he wanted to go to the spiritual tree for a while, he was going to give you a surprise. You look around and see no one. "Ma tsu'tey…where are you? Stop the jokes!!!" you speak, waiting for it to come out from either side of the glowing branches falling from the tree. You are surprised when you feel Someone blow on your back and you scream in fright. "Hey!!! Don't do that!!!" you whine, as you turn around while tsu'tey laughs. "Come here sweetheart…sit down" tsu'tey speaks sitting down on the floor dragging you with him. So that you would settle into his lap. Your back crashed into his chest dropping all your weight on it. Which realistically was nothing to him.
"And what was the surprise?" you raised your head to look at him. He had a tender smile on his face, and you swore he was getting nervous. Because the sounds of his tail tapping the ground could be heard. "I want to give you something…" he pauses, as he reaches for something in one of the little bags around his waist. A very pretty little bag that you had made for him. From it she pulled out a handmade and hand-woven necklace. It had many feathers that matched the ones in your earrings. You are surprised and you settle down to stand up straighter and look more attentively. "I had prepared this a long time ago…for the love of my life, Sylwani. I never got to give it to her… I only got to give her that pair of earrings you have here" says tsu'tey quickly touching your ears, tickling them. You laugh and turn your full attention back to him.
"I thought I could never give it to someone who meant so much to me… but here you are. My sparkle of hope, my new life. Now I understand that this always belonged to you" says tsu'tey taking the necklace and placing it around your neck. You help him and lift your hair with your hands letting him adjust the necklace. "I love you" you speak, looking up so you can see him smile. You have never seen this smile before…it was one of love, of peacefulness. He wraps his around your body, and you let yourself be carried away by the new feeling of warmth. You could swear you feel someone else join in the embrace. But you decide to ignore it and continue to wrap your arms around tsu'tey's arms. " I already found my own family" tsu'tey says softly.
"You already found it" says Slywanin. Hugging them both. At last she could rest, at last he would be all right.

Tumblr media
“Oh, come on. Not now...” You mumbled as you were in that elevator.
The small light that illuminated the cabin seemed to want to give you a bad time, blinking and threatening to leave the place in complete darkness.
It wasn't the first time you had walked that path and you were certainly delighted to do it but... It was... Terrifying. At least for you.
Even though you were old enough to stay calm in a situation like that, about to be left in the dark in a terrifying place, you weren't able to do it. Your father and sister always tried to help you overcome your fears, but they never succeeded.
Being a scared person in this village was strange, but hey, you were strange.
You were strange enough to catch one's attention. They said the most dangerous one in the place. Lord of Mother Miranda, Donna Beneviento.
Without really knowing how you had ended up madly in love with her, and, apparently, she with you, it hadn't been long since you had something resembling a relationship. You didn't really know if she was your girlfriend, or just a “special friend”, but you didn't care too much either. You were happy with her.
Like every afternoon for a couple of months, you went to the old estate to pay her a visit. You loved spending time with her, the more the better.
But the bad thing was that to get to your beloved's house you had to overcome a terrifying landscape of unstable bridges, crows hidden to scare you at the best moment, and sinister trees. If you didn't love her so much, you would never have dared to go to that place alone. You thought that maybe thanks to that you would begin to overcome your fears, but quite the opposite.
At least the elevator gave you a respite; stopping at your destination and opening the doors with an ominous creak, making the hair on the back of your neck stand up as you ran out of there.
“Oh, okay, okay,” you said, calming yourself as you walked away from that sinister cave, with Donna's house already in your field of vision.
Shyly, you knocked on the door, replacing fear with the desire to spend time with Donna.
Nothing, no response, just an even more sinister creak as the doors opened.
“Donna?” You asked, playing with your hands, which soon began to sweat.
Silence.
“Boo!” An unexpected screech made you step back, shrinking your chest.
“Ah!” You screamed scared, almost tripping in the process.
A mocking laugh appeared just before you ran back to the elevator. You should have imagined it. The Angie doll came out of her hiding place, laughing in amusement, enjoying your fear.
“Have I scared you? Coward, coward, (Y/N) is a coward…” She crooned in a sinister voice while you tried to catch your breath.
“What? No, you haven’t…” You said, pretending to regain your composure.
“Angie…” A soft voice made your heartbeat relax. Donna's voice. “Oh, tesoro, has she scared you?” She asked tenderly, approaching the door.
You smiled when you saw her. That's why you had come, to spend time with Donna, not to be scared.
“No, no, not at all,” you said, feigning a bravery that was hard to believe as the lady in black removed the veil from her face. She still had a hard time showing her appearance with you, but less and less.
Donna smiled, leaving that horrible black cloth on a table in the entrance and approaching you to place a tender kiss on your lips.
“I've missed you...” She murmured, slowly caressing your cheek, making you blush.
“Me... Me too,” you answered, kissing her again and taking her hands, swinging them, enjoying a silent moment of reunion. “Well… What are we going to do today?”
The lady in black smiled fondly, walking closer to you, leaving the doors behind.
“Well, I had thought that... Well, if you feel like it, of course...” Donna said, with a shy smile. In that you were the same, two shy fools.
“Yes, I feel like it,” you said, jokingly, letting yourself be grabbed by the waist.
“I haven't said anything yet, (Y/N)” she replied, amused, grabbing your body with that delicacy that drove you crazy.
“Well, I'm sure I'll like it... If it's with you,” you said, looking away from her, feeling the heat of your blush on your cheeks.
Donna smiled and caressed your flushed skin before shaking her head.
“I had thought about taking a walk around the grounds, so I'll show you them,” Donna finally said, after that moment so typical of first dates, in which you thanked the Black Gods for having made you meet.
“Oh, I…” You said suddenly, taking a step back. In your mind you were looking for an excuse to reject her offer. The road to her house and the surrounding woods were terrifying. You always shook when you walked around.
“Don't you feel like it? We can do something else, if you want,” Donna said, studying your expression. She knew there was something wrong with her innocent proposal.
“No, no,” you said, putting your hands in front of your body and faking a smile. “I mean… Yes, of course, I would love to, Donna.”
She smiled, kissing you again, pleased by your response.
“Alright. Don't worry, this time Angie will stay home,”  she said amused, looking askance at the doll who opened her mouth in protest.
“No, I want to go with you!” the puppet protested, pulling comically at the black dress of her owner.
“Angie, stop complaining,” the lady in black reprimanded, making Angie release her clothes. “This way you'll learn not to scare (Y/N).”
Donna wasn't stupid. She knew Angie had scared you, but you... You couldn't allow yourself to look like a coward. No, that was the only thing you didn't want her to know.
“Don't worry, Donna, she hasn't scared me, I'm used to it,” you said, making a gesture with your hand to downplay it.
The doll maker looked at you suspiciously but she nodded, closing the door behind her, drowning out the doll's childish protests.
“Let’s go?” she asked, extending her hand towards yours.
A walk with the woman you loved? Even if it was in a terrifying place? It didn't sound so bad after all.
At first it went well, the first two minutes, until you reached the elevator, where that infernal light that threatened to go out finally did.
“Oh, wow. It seems like it is finally...” Donna said, stopping talking when she noticed your arm in hers, squeezing it tightly out of fear. “Broken.”
You didn't say anything, you tried to stay calm even though your body was already speaking for itself, shaking and breathing heavily.
“My love, what's going on? Are you shaking?” She asked, affectionately, grabbing the arm that was clinging to her dress.
“I just tripped,” you lied clumsily, just as the elevator finished its descent.
You couldn't think she believed you, but she just smiled, giving you a soft kiss on the cheek, rubbing your back comfortingly.
The ride was fine as disturbing as those terrains were. There was still light and that made it much more bearable.
Donna explained each and every one of the plants that were in the place. You wish you had paid enough attention. You were more careful that a monster wouldn't come out of the bushes, or that a bloodthirsty crow would attack your neck mercilessly. At least you were next to her.
“Wow... It's impressive,” you said when you reached a small hill from which you could see a large part of the village. The sky was getting darker and darker, but little by little you began to get used to that disturbing place. “I can see almost the entire village.”
“Mmm,” Donna murmured, sitting next to a tree and encouraging you to do the same, in front of her, with your body resting on hers. “You are the most beautiful thing I see,” she whispered romantically, kissing you very close to her ear.
“Oh, I forgot,” you said, searching for something in your bag. “I brought you the cupcakes that you like so much,” you said with a smile, giving her paper bag full of those homemade sweets.
“You know I love them...” She whispered gratefully, taking one of them and offering another to you “Especially because you make them.”
You smiled again, blushing at the compliment.
And so the minutes passed, in silence, contemplating the landscape, enjoying each other company. A wonderful afternoon like the others, but... In a place you didn't like to be.
The crack of a branch distracted you from the erratic play you were doing with her hand in yours, causing you to stand up immediately.
“What was that?” You asked, again with your heart racing, looking around you, looking for the source of that sound.
“What?” Donna asked, standing up as well and putting a hand on your shoulder.
“That, that noise, haven't you heard it? I think, I think there's someone around here...” You said scared, with your legs shaking, threatening to give out.
“There's no one here, tesoro...” Donna whispered, making you look at her face. “You're shaking...” She said, rubbing your arms and looking at you worried.
Time to pretend again. Once again your absurd fear was making you ridiculous.
“Well, I... I'm, I'm cold,” you said, moving away from the woman, who looked at you with a frown.
“Do you want us to go home?” She asked, hugging you around the waist, as if she were trying to comfort you even though she didn't know what exactly was happening to you, even though she didn't know that you were scared to death.
You looked around. That romantic walk would have lasted forever if you had the choice, but a flock of black crows and the sunlight disappearing further and further into the mountains made your fear almost unbearable.
“I... Well, yes,” you said stuttering, searching with your eyes for any source of danger.
“Fine, because... I have something to give you too,” Donna said, whispering softly before kissing you quickly and taking your hand again, a hand that made you feel protected in some way.
“(Y/N) and Donna, kissing under a tree...” Angie hummed as you walked through the door. You were already used to her joking.
“How do you know that?” You asked curiously, while Donna was in charge of turning on the lights. The night threatened to come soon.
“We are connected, silly,” the doll mocked. “Also, even if I didn't know it, you just confirmed it to me.”
“Angie, leave her alone,” Donna said, scolding the puppet again, who crossed her arms, offended. “Come, tesoro…”
You held her hand again as she led you through the house.
You felt comfortable in that place, at least until you went down another terrifying elevator, towards the basement.
“Sorry, (Y/N), it's a bit dark down here,” the lady in black whispered, guiding you through those horrible hallways.
She probably said it because your fear became your main emotion again. The darkness was everything except your friend.
“No, it's okay. I'm, I'm used to it,” you lied, clinging to her arm, perhaps too tightly. You didn't want Donna to realize how terrified you were, but it was almost inevitable.
Donna opened a double door and stepped aside for you to enter first.
You gulped as you took a look at that room. It was the workshop where she made her dolls. The lack of light generated terrifying shadows on the ceiling. Hands, legs, heads... Limbs hanging from the ceiling that seemed to want to catch you. When light became, you calmed down a bit, but just a bit.
“So…” you said, clearing your throat. “This is where you work.”
She nodded, picking up what looked like a necklace from one of the tables, a necklace she left in your hand, closing it over.
“This is for you,” Donna said nervously, probably worried about pleasing you.
“I...” You said, looking at that small gift. It was a silver chain, from which hung a majestic wolf that seemed to be made of ceramic. “It is, it is beautiful.”
“Your last name, Lupu, is a derivative of the Latin lupus, which means wolf...” The lady explained, going around you to help you place the necklace on its place. “I thought it was appropriate.”
“Donna, I... Thank you very much,” you sighed, taking that wolf in your hands. Fear took a backseat. At that moment what you felt was love, pure love.
“Everything just for my precious girl...” Donna whispered, turning you to kiss your lips softly.
“Wait,” you said amused, putting a hand on her chest. “This isn't so I can give you the recipe for my cupcakes, is it?” You asked amused.
She sighed in amusement, shaking her head and burying her head in your neck, kissing it quickly.
“Of course not, tesoro... But hey... If you want to give it to me...” She said amused, biting her lip and diverting her eye from yours.
“No way. If I do it, you will make them better than me,”  you joked, being grateful for that small moment without tremors, without fear preventing you from enjoying that love.
Unfortunately, fate was not kind to you. One of the half-finished dolls, which was resting next to her companions on a nearby shelf, decided to fall against the stone floor, causing you a strong start that made you about to jump into the arms of your beloved.
“Ah!” You screamed in terror, putting your lover as a shield in front of you.
“Calm down, (Y/N),” Donna said, looking for the source of the noise. “It's just a doll that has fallen.”
You peeked over her shoulder, proving that she was right, but that didn't make it any less scary.
“Oh, well, I wasn't that scared,” you said arrogantly, putting a hand on your chest while Donna picked up the doll from the floor. It wasn't the best time to lie. Your actions spoke for themselves.
“Bad doll, you scared (Y/N),” Donna said amused, pretending to talk to that disturbing doll.
“It hasn't scared me. It was just the noise,” you said in your defense as the lady in black approached you with the porcelain object in her arms.
“I'm sorry, (Y/N), I'm very clumsy, I didn't mean to scare you,” the lady said, imitating the doll's voice, showing off her impressive ventriloquism. “I'm not scary, you see? Seriously, do you see? Because I don't, I don’t have eyes.”
That attempt by Donna to make you laugh worked perfectly. She was like that. Even if she believed your words, she always tried to make you feel better. And she got it, she always got it.
“You don't scare me,” you said with a tender smile, pushing Donna gently by her shoulder for that joke.
“Are you staying for dinner?” The lady in black asked, placing that terrifying doll on the shelf again.
“I... Sure,” you said almost without thinking.
It was a plan that you wanted, and the one that you always accepted but... But returning home through that forest at night... That was the worst part. Even so, you always made an effort, even if you died of fear trying to return.
Despite everything, dinner was as always. Romantic, silent. The conversation was calm, without surprises. Even Angie seemed to take a pity on you, which you were grateful for.
After dinner something happened that didn't usually happen. A dance, a romantic one. Your bodies moved to the rhythm of the music; stuck, silent, innocent, in love...
When the music stopped, the slow kisses came, the caresses on the face, on the body. The demonstration of the love you felt.
“I could be kissing you forever...” Donna whispered in your ear, swaying your body as if the music were still playing. “I love you.”
It was the first time she had said it and you had to reciprocate, of course you would.
“I love you too, Donna,” you said, hugging her, feeling the warmth of her hug, an affectionate and tender hug, because of which you even dared to close your eyes.
“I... I, I would like to ask you something,” Donna said, separating herself a bit, nervous, agitated. It wasn't the time for a crisis, but something told you that what she was going to propose to you was something serious.
“Yeah?” You said softly, imagining in your mind a wide range of possibilities, each one the better.
“Yes, I know it's early and... Well, I know that...” She stammered, squeezing your hands tightly, hands that you caressed to reassure her. Now it was your turn to be her comforter.
“Tell me, Donna...” You whispered, encouraging her to speak.
“The time I spend with you is... Wonderful and... Well, I... It hurts me so much to see you walk out the door, I keep thinking about when I can kiss you again and... Well, what I want to say is that maybe you would like...”
Before she could finish that proposition, which you were already prepared to accept, a flash of light illuminated the entire room, followed by a horrible clap of thunder that bounced off the walls of the old house.
“Ah!” You screamed, clinging to the woman in black, who took you into her arms.
But everything was even worse, because, after another lightning strike, the house went completely dark.
“Don't worry, tesoro... It's just a storm,” Donna said, reassuring you, stroking your head, which was clinging to her chest.
“A storm?” You asked with a trembling voice, moving away a bit, embarrassed.
“Well, it's Spring, it's normal, can you hear it? It's already raining,” Donna said, not letting you go.
You, forcing your courage, stopped hugging her, looking for any source of light in the house.
“The fuse must have been blown,” Donna muttered, moving away from you and looking for something in a drawer. “Stay here, I'll see if I can change it.”
“Are you, are you going to leave me here?” You asked scared when the lady in black lit a small candle holder, taking one of them.
“Are you afraid?” She asked kindly. A direct question, right where you were weak. You had no choice, you had to lie.
“No, no,” you said hastily, approaching the candlelight. “It's just… Well, maybe you need some help,” you said with feigned confidence.
Donna looked at you, smiled and shook her head.
“I appreciate it, tesoro, but it's not necessary. You don't know the house and you might stumble. Stay here with Angie. I'll be right back,” she said, kissing you on the lips and disappearing into the shadows.
You, sighing, containing the tremor of your body, sat on a sit near the table, near the glow of the candles, near the security that the light provided you.
“Okay, okay. It's just a storm, it's just...” Your cowardly murmurs were silenced by a flash of lightning and another clap of thunder, this time louder. You had to stop yourself from hiding under the table.
“What are you murmuring, silly?” Angie asked, appearing by surprise on top of the table.
“Nothing,” you said passively, looking away from the puppet.
“This is good, right?” She crooned, sitting on the edge. “Come on, come on, let's tell scary stories,” she said animatedly. To shake your head didn't take you a second.
“No,” you said firmly, suppressing the trembling of your legs.
“Okay, I'll start,” Angie said, completely ignoring you.
“Haven’t you heard me?”
“Then the two of them, brother and sister, went up the stairs to the old attic. It was a stormy night and the lightning illuminated their ghostly faces...” The doll started, making you want to not hear anything or run away.
“Angie, stop,” you said, in a tone that betrayed your fear.
“Someone said there was a ghost up there, the sister said, opening the attic door, illuminated by the storm,” the doll spoke with a dark voice. “Then they looked inside and…”
“And?” You asked scared, tightening the fabric of your dress, moistening it with the sweat of your hands.
“Nothing, there was nothing... Only darkness. The sister seemed confused, she was sure that the footsteps she heard at night came from up there. The boy turned slowly, blowing out the candle. A flash of lightning illuminated his pale, smiling face. The clock had just announced midnight. What are you doing? She asked. The brother approached in silence, whispering a few words in her ear...”
“Enough,” you said with a broken voice, seeing smiling faces on the walls of the house.
“Do you know what he told her? There is no ghost up here…. I’m the ghost!” Angie screeched, bringing her face abruptly closer to you, making it look much scarier in the candlelight.
“Yiahhh!” You screamed, on the verge of a heart attack, falling back in the chair and crashing against the wooden floor.
Just then, the light returned to the house and next to it, the sound of heels running towards you.
“(Y/N), my love, are you okay?” Donna said, bending down to help you up while the Angie doll laughed out loud.
“Damn it,” you growled, letting yourself be helped and rubbing your back.
“Angie, what have you done to her?” Donna asked, brushing the dust off your dress. The doll cowardly fled, still laughing.
“Nothing, nothing, it doesn't matter,” you said, trying to regain your calm, something that seemed impossible, since the old clock in the hall announced midnight. “Ah, shit! Damn…”
“Don't worry, honey,” Donna said, confused, glaring at Angie, who was hiding behind an armchair. “It’s just the clock”
“Yes, I… Yes…” You stammered, running a hand over your sweaty forehead.
“Midnight, Cinderella, go home,” the doll squealed, still not daring to show her face.
“Yes, I...  I'd better go,” you said, getting up from the chair. At least you would suffer all the fears at once.
“Wait. It's raining a lot,” Donna said, gently grabbing your wrist. “You, you should stay the night.”
“The night?” You asked, letting the fear go away for a moment. At least that kind of fear.
“Yes, I... Well...”
“With you?” You asked again, with a light illuminating your face.
-Yes, of course, I… Don't get me wrong, no, I don't mean... That... I just wouldn't want you to get sick,” Donna said bowing her head, shy.
“Oh, well, I…” you said, thinking about your options. You didn't even care that it was some kind of strategy of the woman in black to make love to you. She said that she would wait for you to be ready, as would as she herself. There was no rush, that wasn't her intention, you should know that.
“I don't mean anything, (Y/N), you can, you can stay in the guest room,” she said, afraid that she had hinted at something that she didn't really intend. Or so you thought.
“The guest room?” You asked, a shiver running down your spine. “Alone?”
“Yes, well, if you feel more comfortable...” Donna said, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
Before you could respond, another horrible flash of lightning, with its corresponding thunder, threw you back into your lover's arms.
“You know what? Not…. I…” You stammered, embarrassed for hiding your fear in her arms again. “I prefer, I prefer to sleep with you.”
“Are you sure?” She asked, looking for some sign of lying in your eyes.
You nodded.
Unfortunately, Donna's room was in that scary basement. The excitement of spending a night together was laced with fear, with dread, with that stupid Angie story clouding your thoughts.
After Donna lent you some clothes to sleep in, and left you alone so you could change as you pleased, you began to believe that you weren't so bad. At least there were no windows in that room, so the trees couldn't make horrible sinister faces on the wall.
“Are you comfortable?” Your girlfriend asked, yes, your girlfriend, getting into bed next to you. The sight of her hair free of its restraints made you forget your fear for a moment, even if it was just for a moment.
“You look beautiful with your hair down, Donna,” you said, letting the words flow freely through your mouth.
She smiled sheepishly at the compliment, and joined you under the covers. She kissed you slowly, an innocent goodnight kiss, but grateful, grateful to be able to share that night with you.
“Good night, my love...” She whispered in your ear, turning around to reach the light on the nightstand. Okay, you were starting to have problems.
“Wait, what are you going to do?” You asked startled, grabbing her arm so it wouldn't reach its destination.
“What? Well, I’m going to turn off the light, tesoro,” she explained innocently, frowning at your attitude and the tremors in your hands. “You are shaking, are you cold?”
“No, no, I... I'm fine,” you said, with that need to fake a bravery that you didn't have. “Good night, Donna.”
She shrugged and, after another quick kiss, turned off the light.
Your body was shaking. Time passed and you were unable to even close your eyes. The darkness of the room was overwhelming. You felt thousands of smiling faces watching you, waiting for you to get careless, for you to fall asleep so they could possess you.
“Damn it...” You whispered, hearing a creak coming from the floor above. The house was old, the wood creaked, it was normal. That was what your mind should tell you, but it didn't. It only imagined wandering souls that wanted to attack you.
In a gesture of childish cowardice, you raised the blankets until they completely covered your head, creating a fictitious shelter in which you were safe. Even that way you couldn't stop shaking.
The calm breathing of Donna, who had long been fast asleep, was not enough to silence the fear in your body. You snuggled closer to her, the blankets covering you completely.
“Please, day, come quickly...” You said to yourself, on the verge of a panic attack. Your lover's hot body turned around and her arm fell on your cowardly hidden body.
“Mm?” Donna murmured, sleepy, probably surprised by not touching your skin, but a blanket. “(Y/N)?”
You didn't respond until, after a few seconds, the light returned to illuminate the sinister room.
“What are you doing, tesoro?” Donna asked, discovering you, freeing you from your infallible protective shield.
“No, nothing,” you said embarrassed.
Your lover placed a hand on your forehead, looking at you worriedly.
“Oh, Black Gods, you're sweating...” She sighed, making you sit up. “Have you had a nightmare?”
“No... It's just... I'm hot,” you lied again. How funny, you hadn't even been able to sleep. Now you had a new fear, doing it and having nightmares. Brilliant
“You're very nervous, (Y/N)...” Donna said, caressing you reassuringly. “Wait a moment, I'm going to prepare a relaxing infusion for you, okay?”
“No, nothing's wrong with me... Come back, go back to bed,” you said, reaching out your hand towards her wrist so that her warm and protective body wouldn't abandon you.
“It’s just a moment. Whatever scared you, it's gone, honey. Let me help you,” she said, ignoring your poor excuses.
“I'm not scared!” You squealed nervously, causing her to suddenly turn her head towards you, opening her eyes wide.
“Okay, okay, (Y/N) But still, you have to calm down. I'll be right back," Donna said, disappearing from the room.
“Wait, don't leave me alone...” You murmured, in a tone so low that surely she didn't hear you.
Fortunately, it didn't take long for Donna to return.
“Here,” she said kindly, bringing you a steaming cup. “Drink it, it’s good for you.”
You nodded, sorry for your attitude, for the cowardice of admitting that you were a coward.
“I'm sorry for yelling at you,” you said, bringing the liquid to your lips. She shook her head, sitting on your side of the bed and stroking your hand.
“Don't worry,” she said, smiling tenderly. “Talk to me, tesoro, tell me what's happening to you.”
“I...” You said, noticing how your strength was disappearing, how that attitude of wanting to pretend what you weren't was beginning to kill you inside. “I‘m, I’m a coward, Donna.”
She didn't change her sympathetic expression.
“I... Despite being 23 years old, I still sleep with the light on. My sister Elena is sick of me because of that… Everything scares me, even my own shadow…”
“We are all afraid of something, you have nothing to be ashamed of,” she said whispering, controlling her tone of voice.
“It shouldn't be like that, I... I'm not a little girl anymore and... Nor, I can't even be calm in the light of day. Everything scares me, everything terrifies me.”
“Hey, come on, (Y/N). It's okay. You know I would never let anything happen to you,” Donna said, caressing your cheek.
“I know but... Damn, you must think that I'm a coward, that I don't deserve to be with you because I scare easily, because I'm still... I'm still childishly cowardly...” You said, looking down at the blanket, letting the liquid of that infusion will go down your throat.
“No, honey, don't say that. I don't love you less because you're afraid of darkness,” she said, wanting to make it clear to you quickly. “It’s normal to be afraid. There is no problem with it.”
“Are you afraid of something? I don’t think so. You've been walking around the house in the dark and you haven't even flinched,” you said in your defense, removing your hand from hers.
“Well, maybe, maybe I'm not afraid of the dark... But that doesn't mean there aren't things that scare me, you know?” Donna told you with a calm voice, with no sign that for any reason she lost her mind at your abrupt way of speaking.
“Oh, there are? What are you afraid of?” You asked with a bit of irony, leaving the cup on the table and crossing your arms.
“I'm afraid of losing you...” She whispered, without looking at your face. “Of being alone again.”
“What nonsense. I would never leave you, Donna,” you said, huffing and shaking your head.
“Is that nonsense? What about the monsters you imagine in the dark? Isn't that nonsense?” the lady said, with an amused smile. You went blank.
“I... Well, I... Oh, well, I can't contradict that logic of yours,” you said, sighing, tilting your head so that it rested on her chest.
She laughed, kissing your hair softly.
“You see? Fears can be rational or irrational. But we're all afraid of something, (Y/N). The important thing is to overcome it, and have someone by your side to help you. I have you, you have me.”
“Okay,” you said, letting a tear slide down your cheek. “Will you protect me?”
“Of course, tesoro. You'll see how together we can handle it,” she said, cradling you in her arms.
You felt better, safe in her arms, safe next to her. Fear and Angie's stupid stories had made you forget something important, something that was left half-finished.
“Hey, Donna,” you asked, moving away a bit. “Before the blackout… You wanted to ask me something.”
“Oh, yes, well, I...” Donna said, starting to get nervous “I just, I just wanted to know if...”
“If?”
“If you would like to live with me,” she said, lowering her gaze again, tightening her grip on your hand too much.
“Oh…”
“I know it's hasty but...” She said, interrupted by a surprise kiss on her lips, by your hands caressing her face, her scar, making your opinion clear.
“Yes, I want to live with you Donna, but promise me one thing.”
“Whatever you want,” she said excitedly.
“Promise me that your hugs will protect me from the darkness.”

I just finished Wednesday today and I'm full on the wenclair ship!!!! so I'm glad to have seen your art just as I'm done lmao. if you read wenclair fics do you have any recommendations?
OOOOH Okay nice nice!!!
I'm so sorry this is so late but I hope you still want some recs, bc I def got some for you! I tried to keep these pretty succinct and not too many bc a lot of these are pretty long reads but these are some of my fav Wenclair fics to read and reread! I made sure to put different types/genres of fics in here too so there's a diverse list of flavors on here! Most will be complete but I'll throw in some WIPs i've been keeping an eye on!
If We Make It Through December by overnights: If you love FLUFF and Enid interacting with the Addams Fam! A wenclair STAPLE tbh, fake dating, Enid being invited to the Addams Mansion, and CHRISTMAS fic all in one! The dynamics between the Addams and Enid are always sweet, and Wednesday and Enid just teeter on that close friendship to oh, maybe it's love??? thing and it's so sweet to see. It's just very lovely and wholesome! A great execution of that 'fake dating but oops you were in love all along haha' trope!
Magus et Lupus by wigglewyrms: Ok like I had to rep one of my pals in here but in my defense this is genuinely so good and one of my favorite wenclair fics before we even became friends! It's a fun fantasy Wenclair with dialogue that's just so fun and snappy and witty! You're gonna have fun reading their conversations and then you're gonna get caught up into the world and the story! The plot is very fun and the end is a very fun payoff! I think I might have overused the word fun a lot for this fic but like that's just what this fic is--It's entertaining, it's engaging, and it makes you feel like you're having fun reading wanting to know what's next or what's this person gonna say or etc. It's a fic you read and you feel good! 100% Recommend! I even drew art for it if you're interested (which I should honestly repost on here soon)
I'd recommend their other stuff too-- Stubborn, Single Minded, and Obsessive is great if you like the slasher horror genre with a dash of Addams Family Values Lore, and their most recent one that's a WIP, When The Moon Shines Red is a very fun fic focused on Enid's werewolfisms but dangerous, with a very sweet friendship to relationship evolution between Enid and Wednesday!
i know the end by thriftedstars: If you're an angst lover like I am, you're gonna LOOOOVE this! A sort of groundhog's day type of fic, it focuses on the day of the last episode of the first season--Enid, Wednesday, Tyler, Crackstone, all that entails in that night. It's a really fun read just to know what happens next and how Enid gets out of the situation but also to see the girls' relationship grow in this terrible situation. Lots of emotion! Listen sometimes you just need the hurt for the ending to be sweeter! Recommend wholeheartedly!
curtain call by hanjisgirlfriend: on the complete opposite side of the last fic, Curtain Call is an enemies to friends to lovers Wenclair that does an amazing job of capturing that kind of high school love story kind of vibe but like also a dash of youthful nostalgia. It gives me the same vibe of like, if I was listening to the Kids album by Mac Miller--They're kids and they're friends and they're growing up and they're growing up together. I HIGHLY recommend as well, like it genuinely makes my heart lighter thinking about how sweet this is.
raven in the den, wolf in the nest by Barbara_Lazuli: So you might be familiar with the author's name--Artist, Comic maker, Writer, literally what CAN'T she do!!! This fic is another fake dating fic but a different flavor from the first one! This one really dives into both Enid and Wednesday's relationships with their mothers, as well as the building feelings they already have for each other. Their bond in this fic is nothing short of sweet and heartwarming, and I genuinely think this is one of the best fics in the tag! Just got so much substance! Also all the Addams family media references and the Loona refs-- like Barb if you read this you're a champ for making Wednesday play Sonatine and also listen to Hula Hoop and just for making this in general????? Seriously how are you so talented bro
queen of the night by heyfools: Look, a flower shop AU hits okay? And this? THIS HITS. Wednesday is an owner of a flower shop, Enid needs a job, and we know where this is going. But man the way you get to know both characters a little more--their histories, traumas, likes and dislikes and their personalities beyond "appropriately polite cowoke" (well, polite for Enid, not so much Wednesday at first) it's soooooo good! You have a journey along with the characters and you really get invested in their relationship! A great read, especially if you wanna read something like in the afternoon light with a nice lemonade maybe, or like just a very relaxing fun read!
Forged in Blood by RiseAboveTheAshes_203: Okay so this one is a HEAVY HITTER! We're getting into the big bois! It's a 100k fic about Wednesday and Enid basically dealing with the consequences of Enid becoming a blood wolf-- and bro you are seated, belted, strapped into the ride every step because PHEWWWW what a RIDE! It has really interesting lore building upon werewolf society in the show and also witchery and magic from the Addams family. And all of that is great and amazing but the real star of this is just Wednesday and Enid being Wednesday and Enid--they are DEVOTED to each other! Even if they don't quite understand the full means of it yet, and if it gets them in trouble sometimes. It's amazing to see their relationship grow and them understand what they truly mean to one another and it's a captivating love story that also happens to have fun world building for the show and amazing moments that just leave you so tense to know what happens next! I was so tuned in when this was still a WIP I remember refreshing the tag every lunch time for a while for a chapter I was HOOKED, and I'm sure you will be too!
A Kidnapping By Any Other Name by Ravenmoon33: So bear with me this is gonna be a long one; Ok! So this is the other WIP I've put in here (aside from When The Moon Shines Red) and let me tell you--this fic changed my life fr. Some TLDR lore about it tho--the version I linked above there is a revised version! They have an old version they still have up on their account and honestly I also HIGHLY recommend that version too bc it had me in bed giggling kicking my feet like ROMANCE. ROMANCE WAS MADE in these ao3 walls!!! (The flower scene???? No spoilers if you know you know but OOOOOOOOGGHHHH I would not shut up about it for WEEKS Im so sorry to my friends and my poor gf) but I also highly recommend the new version as well! If you've read the first version and are keeping up with the new version, the new things are also so good and you can tell the author is so locked in and excited with what they've added and what they've changed, I honestly recommend both;
So onto what it's actually about-- Enid is "kidnapped" by Wednesday and is "forced" to stay at her best friend's mansion for the summer. And you know what happens? LORE. So much worldbuilding on Addams family lore like it's AMAZING!!! You read about new characters the family past and what it means for Wednesday and Enid, and if that's not enough, there's also the MYSTERY aspect too because Weds and Enid will have to deep dive into that lore to figure out a problem in the present and it's so much FUN to like try to figure out how things go together! I love that aspect of both the versions so much that it's only rivaled by my immense love of how everyone's relationships are written! Enid's relationships with the other members of the Addams fam, especially Morticia, is so healing and heartwarming, and we see Wednesday's different dynamics with her family and how Enid affects her and helps her grow and you see those relationships with her family members grow because of it! And of course, the obvious, Wednesday and Enid basically having a love story for the ages cause JESUS, this is ROMANCE. Wednesday BIG FUCKING ROMANTIC Addams!!! It's amazing omg I wanna say more but I also don't bc I don't wanna spoil but I absolutely cannot rec it enough, even if it stays unfinished it will still be genuinely one of the best wenclair fics for me.
Tumultuous Waters: Wednesday Season Two by KrackenoftheDeep: So we're here at the last one. I didn't really list these fics out in specific order but I did save this specific one for last bc I genuinely think this is my favorite Wednesday fic. This is like a full ass season 2! It's a telling of how season 2 could happen, continuing from season 1 and picking up the ball the first season threw with stuff about the Morning Song cult, a deeper dive of Crackstone and Goody, more worldbuilding about the outcasts and the school, and best of all-- THE Wednesday and Enid dynamic that to me would be so fucking ideal for season 2 if Timothy Burton wasn't a COWARRD!!! /j /maybe
The growth Enid and Wednesday have in this fic, along with the exploration of the other characters, more investigations not just by Wednesday but also the other nightshade members helping and getting involved as well! You really get to feel so many things for these characters, and all of that pays off in one of the most satisfying endings for me in a fic like the author really fucking knocked this out of the park I felt like giving a standing ovation!
I genuinely don't think the Wednesday writers could like, live up to this. At least for me, it's that good. This is everything I've ever wanted for a Wednesday s2 honestly and I honestly, HONESTLY could not recommend this enough.
And after you read this, you can follow along the author's sequel to this fic, The Infinite Black Sea: Wednesday Season 3. Again, also highly recommend! A new mystery afoot!!!
I'm so sorry I didn't expect this to get super long but sometimes you just gotta give tens where tens are deserved!!! There are so many more great wenclair fics out there that deserve a reading and loving, like I know the tag can look a little scary sometimes but seriously there's some great gems there underneath all the scary stuff lol
These are just some of my personal favs, and honestly thank you to all the authors here yall are doing God's work fr!!!

Hi, I Just read Devil in Winter and OMG what a book, I wasn't expecting the level of care taking Sebastian was doing with Evie but I absolutely loved it, can you please recommend books with that kind of dynamic? Of the hero being like that?
And also now that I have the courage to así lol do you have books with the classic he's a super grumpy man but has a soft spot for her?
Hiii Devil in Winter is an amazing book! It's one of those novels where you totally get why it's a classic. Hot, romantic, well-written, and yes! I agree, the caretaking is something you don't expect and frankly don't get from a lot of rake books especially.
And also, don't be worried about asking me for recs, I have anon on for a reason, if I have recs to give I will always give them!
Caregiver Heroes:
When a Duke Loves a Woman by Lorraine Heath. Historical. Just read this, and it actually has mutual caretaking! The heroine is a lower class tavern owner who begins by discovering the hero (a duke lol) after he's basically been mugged and is badly hurt. She nurses him back to health (not like breastfeeding nursing despite his best efforts but you get me) and he can't quit her so he comes back and ends up taking care of HER after she gets a concussion and is very like "you deserve nice things, let me show you what it's like to not have to take care of yourself all the time".
Between the Devil and Desire by Lorraine Heath. Historical. One of Lorraine's best, about a widow and a lower class scoundrel who becomes the guardian to her son (a baby duke). Olivia is super in charge and though her husband wasn't mean he never gave her the attention or care she needed. Jack really takes over (while not undermining her) and becomes this loving father figure to her son, and she's resistant at first because they dislike each other, but she gradually caves and lets him care for them--and when she gets sick??? Oh, dude. He is CARING for her, including a scene where he has to put her in an ice bath and it's sooo good. TW for discussions of childhood sexual abuse.
Surrender to the Devil by Lorraine Heath. Historical. Follows the previous one, is more about psychological caretaking. The hero is a duke who wants to take the lower class heroine as his mistress, but she has a lot of trauma (TW: childhood sexual abuse) and is super independent. It's another one where he has to basically convince her to let him care for her, and it's big on recovery and tenderness.
Never Seduce a Scot by Maya Banks is a medieval romance with these vibes, for sure. The hero and heroine are in an arranged marriage, and she's deaf, so a lot of people think she was set back mentally by an accident she had years ago (which actually just caused her deafness). The hero is super gentle with her, and though he's attracted to her he initially is resistant to being with her because he doesn't believe she has the capacity to consent. He's actually a very sweet guy, despite being a warrior lol. They develop this very tender relationship where he takes such good care of her and understands her in a way nobody else does.
Reel by Kennedy Ryan is a contemporary I wanna recommend because the heroine has lupus and the hero is her director (she's an actress, and he's giving her her big break). He is soooo caring, and he was actually a caregiver for his mom before she died. The heroine is resistant about being vulnerable about her condition, but man, it's lovely.
Seduce Me at Sunrise by Lisa Kleypas is a historical, came after DiW. The hero and heroine were childhood friends, and he actually took care of her when she had scarlet fever, while she took care of him after an incident that made him super ill. His issue is actually that he doesn't want to hurt her, and he thinks he will if they have sex, because her body is still weak after she recovers. So he rejects her, and she comes back from Europe after a couple of years much stronger. So you get a different take--he's so caring, but that makes him hold himself back from her physically.
Waking Up with The Duke and The Earl Takes All by Lorraine Heath are two of her more well-known historicals (the "local mask asks hero to impregnate his wife" book and the "hero pretends to be his identical twin to spare twin's wife the shock" book). They're both, as Lorraine often writes, focused on heroes who sort of try to show the heroine a different side of life, a different level of tenderness. The hero of Waking Up with The Duke like, rubs the heroine's back and feet. The Earl Takes All has a hero who gives the heroine this different level of affection and tenderness than what she got from her husband, etc.,
Forget Me Not by Julie Soot, again if you're open to contemporary, is a second chance romance between this driven wedding planner heroine and the florist hero who just really wants to take care of her and give her a soft place to land--which is hard for her to accept.
The Rakess by Scarlett Peckham has a heroine who's super independent and controversial, and she begins an affair with this lovely single father widower intending to love him and leave him, but he wants to show her tenderness!!!
Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage by Jennifer Ashley is a second chance romance between an estranged husband and wife, and he wants to rebuild the marriage while she doesn't trust that he can, essentially, give her the emotional support she needs. He spends the book trying to prove it to her!
As for the grumpy hero, absolutely! Try:
What I Did for a Duke by Julie Anne Long. Classic, lol, he's so grumpy and he initially is trying to seduce the heroine to get revenge against her brother, but quickly develops a major soft spot for her.
After Dark with The Duke by Julie Anne Long. Another "he's starchy. and grumpy and withholding" book--and initially, he's that with her too, but he gradually softens and she becomes like, the light of his gloomy life, etc.
The's Perfect Wife by Jennifer Ashley has a hero who's so known for being grouchy and aggressive, but when his ex-fiancee comes back into his life he is immediately so into her again, and she's the only one who can really stand up to him and break down his walls. An all time favorite!
In Which Matilda Halifax Learns the Value of Restraint by Alexandra Vasti. This has a very shy yet very horny heroine who runs afoul of the stern hero, who everyone finds scary--but she doesn't. So good!
The Duke Who Knew Too Much by Grace Callaway. Stern, cold hero who everyone basically thinks committed a murder, lol, but while he and the plucky heroine are initially at odds, she quickly worms her way into his heart.
Managed by Kristen Callihan is a contemporary, but I'd so recommend checking it out. The hero is the uptight manager of a rock band everyone is kind of scared of--the heroine is the whimsical photographer he hires to chronicle the band's tour. They begin this weird arrangement where she sleeps in his bed platonically because he needs her to help with is insomnia lol.
The Truth About Cads and Dukes by Elisa Braden is a marriage of convenience book with a hero who's super stuffy and stern, but ends up falling for his wife despite his best efforts. And becomes OBSESSED.

My father ain't getting his Christmas present today. Everyone in the house will get presents, multiple. But he won't get a damn thing from me now or probably ever again for that matter. He doesn't even love me. Why should I spend anything on him?
When my brothers and I went to go get my wheelchair I bought, my father pulled me aside and didn't even look at me as he said, "You can become magically able bodied if you just exercise and lose some weight. If you buy that thing, it has to go into storage and you have to pay for storage. You're making a big mistake." I told him then and there I don't appreciate him and he does nothing for me. Then I left.
On our way home, my father tried to physically blockade my brothers from pulling into the driveway, and said we have to take the wheelchair directly to storage. We... don't have a storage unit anywhere, and it's New Year's Eve, so none are open. Additionally, we have a double garage which you can park 2 vans inside of. We've done it before. And here was father, yelling at us that we can't fit a wheelchair inside...
A few months ago, my father tried to obtain legally confidential information from my therapist which I legally signed documents to make sure he could never get. And he sent lawyers after her and her staff, angry phone calls, and it got to the point the staff texted me and asked for assistance. Twice.
What's more is, I've gotten dozens of blood tests from half a dozen different doctors over the years. All of them confirmed I have high numbers for lupus and arthritis. There's no denying it. And yet, my father said they're wrong. My doctors are wrong, my therapist is wrong, and science is wrong. There is nothing wrong with me. He asked me, "How did you get around Universal Studios?" I told him I limped and complained about my leg pain the entire time. He said, "I don't remember that." But considering he gaslights me on a daily basis, I can promise he remembers and is lying.
And then, I remembered something else. My father has a cousin who was born with a deformed spine. She cannot walk, never has been able to, and yet, whenever my family visits her or she visits us, my father will make offhand comments when she's not looking or isn't in earshot, that she doesn't need to be in a wheelchair and she could walk if she just tried hard enough and that it would straighten out her spine if she did. She... has a shifted spinal column that's missing discs. I uhh... I don't see how you can fix that by walking.
Anyway, yeah. I'm not going to give anything to my father today, tomorrow, next year, ever. He takes my money each month just to turn off my electronic contact with the outside world whenever he's angry (he disables my phone, wifi, TV, data, etc. on all devices). You know, I learned to hack so I could hack his account to gain that access back. He somehow found out, and set up 2FA which I don't know how to get around (my guess is he was tracking when the account was logged into, from which IP, and checking the trace logs).
There's a reason I send all my messages to friends through encrypted apps, or untracked accounts, and hide all my social media posts from my father. I've learned the sounds of everyone's footsteps in the house, so I know when to be silent if my father comes around. I know to lock my door if he does. I fear him and everything he says. Nobody should have to live this way. But I do.
And sometimes, I ask myself if it's worth it to live at all when these are the conditions I'm forced into.
Here's to 2024. Maybe, somehow, it'll lead me to freedom...

a brief update on life and the blog (contains medical stuff)
If you don't want to read, I kindly ask for your prayers :)
Brief introduction: my name is Liv, I'm 27, and I'm an orthopedic/ocology nurse in Florida. Diagnosis with an unknown cause of myocarditis (heart inflammation) in August 2023.
I was expected to make a full recovery within 2 months. January rolls around, I'm still sick. April rolls around, I'm even sicker and they finally test me for an autoimmune disease. Let's roll to today where in 3 days they'll finally give me a diagnosis and treatment for lupus induced myocarditis. Long story short, I have a severe autoimmune condition that is attacking and actively killing my heart.
I'll save the details, but over the last nearly 11 months, I've been in the hospital 6 times and admitted for 2 of them with no answers. This last one was 3 days and I underwent a cardiac cauterization, which is something they do for people who have heart attacks. Luckily, there doesn't seem to appear to be any permanent damage despite my heart levels being the highest I've ever seen in my career.
Bad news is that over the last year, I've suffered intense chest pain that makes it difficult to breathe, my ankles are swelling, and I have no energy and life just overall sucks. I surprisingly never stopped working. However, being a bedside nurse taking care of actively dying cancer patients is just mentally exhausting and one week ago, I finally hit the breaking point and sobbed in the bathroom before my shift started. I still don't have the details, but I've requested an extended leave of absence from work.
In 3 days, I'll finally have an answer. My doctor already warned me that treatment will be intense. I'll be undergoing chemotherapy.
But, hey, guess what? I'm an oncology nurse and guess what I do for a living?
This last year has been exhausting. It's been the worst. I'm very blessed to say that I've never suffered from any mental illness or depression, but in the last three months I really think that's what I've felt. Nothing makes me happy that used to, I've stopped cleaning my condo (and I'm a minimalist who hates clutter btw), my eating habits are trash, I can't exercise since my heart gives out, and I've completely isolated myself from my friends and my wonderfully supportive family. Every time i do go out, I just bring them down, too.
And guess who bought a condo literally one week before this all went down? I'm not in a safe financial position to stop working for a long time, but I can for a brief time. I'm thankful to be where I am in the sense of good healthcare and a small emergency fund.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that my life this last year has been bad, but the last three months have been the worst, so my activity on this blog has been sporadic and inconsistent. I know my writing quality has gone down; I can't apologize for getting sick, just know that soon I can have some answers and recover to get back to where I was.
My faith has taken the hardest hit. I am a firm Christian and I believe in the power of prayer. I'd really appreciate a prayer from everyone, even if you don't believe, it would still mean a lot.

Lingshan Hermit: We discuss the clouds in the sky, the tea in our cups; we refrain from worldly chatter.
Today, almost every Buddhist seems to be advocating the Rimé philosophy, which has nearly become a diplomatically correct term. This isn't just within Buddhism; politicians globally are also striving hard to showcase their embracement of Rimé sentiments. You seldom hear any religious or political leaders (except Trump) saying, "We only consider our own sect or country, and never others." But in reality, their actions contradict their words. Even within Buddhists, those who genuinely embody the spirit of Rimé are extremely rare. Many Buddhists are not even aware of what Rimé truly signifies.
Many people ask me what Rimé is. Rimé is an attitude; it means all Buddhist teachings, irrespective of Tibetan or Han traditions, originate from Buddha. They appear so distinct or even contradictory because they are spoken to different audiences, or have been shaped by various traditions and styles across different regions. Not everyone requires the same teachings, nor should all teachings bear the same facade across regions. You may not understand for whom a particular teaching is intended, but it will undoubtedly prove beneficial for some practitioners. Therefore, we must respect all teachings and traditions, for they are all Buddha's teachings. Each lineage has proven its significance; countless enlightened beings have emerged from each lineage. It's akin to a visit to a pharmacy: we may only need aspirin, but that doesn't mean all other medicines should be discarded, or that every patient, be it an AIDS or lupus patient, should take aspirin. Nor should one think that they must take every medicine simultaneously. All medicines demand respect; you might only need one kind, but many others need different ones to treat their conditions.
It's said that when Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo was giving teachings, if he was teaching the Gelug school's Dharma, he would put on the Gelug hat and follow the Gelug tradition to show respect for the Gelug school.
Rimé does not imply everyone should celebrate together, forgetting their differences. Rimé is a sentiment only very advanced practitioners possess. Although everyone says they should be non-sectarian, it does not mean everyone who says so truly embodies it. In fact, it's quite the opposite; most people are not Rimé at all; they are merely pretending. But the issue is, you can't fake Rimé; it's the result of spiritual practice. The more advanced your practice, the more Rimé your attitude. If you are honest with yourself, you should realize you don't care about the survival of other sects. You don't see all teachings as equal. Even if others are eloquent, you don't think their sect is better than yours. Among Buddhists, everyone is talking about Rimé, but Rimé is increasingly becoming a politically correct diplomatic term. Buddhists speaking of Rimé increasingly resembles politicians lying for political correctness. This is precisely my concern.
You know, I've always discouraged gathering people from different sects together—those who like doing this might have had a stroke—even if everyone is a Buddhist, there will be a lot of unpleasantness resulting from it. Maybe you won't see Buddhists shooting at each other with AK47s due to displeasure. But the problems triggered by various emotions aren't few. Why bother? Therefore, I strongly advise against people from different sects becoming friends or getting too close—unless they never discuss sectarian practices, unless they are enlightened beings. In fact, I've had friends from other sects, and when we were together, we only talked about things unrelated to Buddhism. We would discuss the clouds in the sky, the tea in our cups; we didn't talk about sectarian matters. Our sectarian views are very different; only a fool would try to explore these.
But you should know, not every Buddhist knows how to get along with people from different sects. When most people are with others from different sects, they actually do one thing—try to prove that their sect is better or promote their sect. This is bound to invite resentment. More often than not, it leads to a counterattack.
In early 2015, many Europeans naively thought they could live with Muslim refugees. I don't know if they still think the same. Let alone getting Christians and Muslims to coexist peacefully. Even Buddhists, who are generally considered very mild, would generate a lot of friction if they lived together, even if they are from the same sect, even if they share the same teacher. And what about different sects, different civilizations? We are all humans, and we all have human flaws.
For Buddhists, staying where they should be and practicing their Dharma is enough; there really isn't much need to get too close to each other. Based on my limited observations, most inter-Buddhist socializations end up in disagreements. Because everyone thinks they are right, everyone thinks the other should listen to them, everyone thinks the other is insignificant, and everyone thinks their Dharma is better—because it is "theirs." This is exactly the attitude Rimé aims to eliminate—we favor our own Dharma, our own sect, because we love ourselves. Therefore, keeping a moderate distance from each other is a beneficial attitude for both parties.

Friend woke me up with a text message saying, "URGENT" in all caps. I thought he was going to have a mental breakdown again and want to die.
Turns out he was just late for class, and might've missed his final...
Bro, that ain't urgent. That's a "Hey can you give me a ride?"
Dude gave me an anxiety attack.
Then my leg cramp is only getting worse. I'm in agony. I can't walk right. I called my doctor and she can't see me until tomorrow. She's gonna just tell me to go see a rheumatologist, I know it, and not give me anything because American health care is fucking shit, and she'll say she isn't authorized to give me anything, and by the time I can find and get an appointment with a rheumatologist, the cramp will be gone and I won't have the flareup anymore. Aka 2 weeks to 4 months from now. Because specialists book up like hell here. It's pointless, the route I'm forced to go. I want to scream. I don't want to live like this. I've taken everything in the house, I've used every ointment under the godsforsaken moon, I've taken heat and cold to this, I've stretched, and nothing is getting better. Because lupus is going to kill me someday, and I've accepted that. There's no getting better with it. There's just pain. Agony. Suffering. Life is shit. I feel like shit.

Language and Cat Quest 2
More world building stuff, yippee!
So, something I think about a lot when writing +and thinking about) my fic is language. We're working with two different countries here, there has to be at least some difference in how they use language. And there's one side quest that makes me believe they have completely separate languages.
Side Quest: Felinguard's Statue - Rivals of a Kind
(Cat) Peasant: Heya! You ain't afurraid of water, are you? Wanna help me win an epic deathmatch?
(Cat) Peasant: Lookit that dog over there!!
(Cat) Peasant: We've been tryna chase the other off! If only I could swim over there! And he keeps barkin' at me like I understand him- Wait. Are you... a dog?!
(Cat) Peasant: Uhhhh.... OH! You can translate this note I scratched out!! Read it out to him! It'll make him pounce away in tears!
The dialogue here at the start of the quest implies a language barrier (it also implies the two peninsulas where the kingdoms are closest really are as close as they appear on the map), and that common folk are unable to understand each other.
So this gives us at least two languages within the game: Felinguard's native language, and the Lupus Empire's. But then, how are our protagonists able to communicate with each other? Now they don't actually have any dialogue to fill the role of 'silent' protagonist, but we do know they can speak. Both due to Lioner and Wolfen speaking and the fact that they do communicate with people. We just can't see what they're saying. So... How do they talk to each other?
Now, it's possible they know the other's native language, but with the tension between the kingdoms it seems unlikely that they know very much. So, I propose a third language: Latin (or this world's adjacent).
This story takes place in a medieval adjacent world (they have hot dogs for crying out loud, it can't be completely medieval), and based on my limited knowledge of the middle ages (mainly from books set in that time) I'm pretty sure Latin was still in use, though limited to those of high status. It doesn't seem too unlikely to me that our protagonists (and Lioner and Wolfen), who are kings, would know a sort of universal language. I imagine that's how they communicate with each other throughout the game, and translate for each other their native language (and I like to imagine that they begin learning the other's language at some point, seeing how often they move back and forth between the kingdoms. It would be helpful for both kings to understand what's being said so interactions go smoothly).
But, it can't just be them that know it, right? I imagine other nobles can use Latin, too, and folks that have (or had) important roles within the castle.
Here's a list of characters that I suspect are able to communicate with Latin to some extent (plus why I think so)
Kirry (he's supposedly both kings' royal advisor, and at least their guardian spirit. It would be kinda bad if he could only talk to one of them.)
Kit (she's been alive for a very long time, I wouldn't be surprised if she learned at some point. Not to mention she directly addresses Canis and he understands easily. Though it's also possible she just knows the Lupus Empire's native language, considering she was friends with Hotto, and how in the first game it mentions she takes commissions from there.)
Hotto (similarly, he's been around a while, and had to be able to communicate with Kit and Felinguard somehow.)
The imposter head towncat of South Pawt (he and the other dog soldiers invaded, even of they don't know Latin, had to have learned Felinguard's language to stay undercover. Though he also addresses Canis directly, and knowing the Lupus Empire's language as a 'cat' would be suspicious.)
Dr. Jekkit (okay this one is just self indulgent because I love her lol, but it does seem like she directly addresses Canis.)
The Doge Knight (he's a noble, even if be doesn't act like it lol. I imagine he has at least a limited understanding of Latin)
Purrivate Mewman (he's a spy lol. Even if he doesn't knock Latin, he definitely knows the Lupus Empire's language. Otherwise he wouldn't be a very good spy)
There's probably more that I'm missing, but I'm running out of time to write this and if I keep reading the dialogue I'll get distracted lol
Still, even if it's not touched upon very often in the game, I think the concept of a language barrier between the two kingdoms is interesting :) (it's certainly something I plan on touching on in my fic lol. Especially with some of the ocs I have.)

IT SUCKS !!!! Hot tip, if you get into a committed relationship with someone that has chronic health issues please please please understand that that person may not be able to do anything for themselves for weeks to months at a time and a large burden is going to fall on you. Take the time to make sure you're able to handle it before you commit.
I didnt ask for my body to fail.
My favorite quote from my doctor was, “it can’t really be that bad if you are still working and doing everything you do. “ I told him I didn’t know I had a choice. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Years in pain, tired and the many changes in me for no reason or apparent reason ... Hiding everything from someone else, pretending to be doing better than you are; until it no longer works. No matter how strong you want to be.
Then the moment comes when they tell you what you have ... You have mixed feelings: you finally know what you have, but how do you deal with it?
Lack of encouragement, wanting to lie down, taking medication frequently; having a whole pharmacy on top of the nightstand.
Then, the daily responses, "Why did you get so fat?" “I have this great diet, if you just go out and exercised.
That once beautiful hair of yours now awful and it falls out.
What happened to you??....
This is all true and that's why I'm sharing it!
Silent and invisible diseases do exist ...
When you have an invisible disease it is difficult to argue from your perspective with ignorant people.
Life takes a lot of turns !!!
Tired of being told:
* Did you go to the doctor?
* Have you tried this?
* Have you tried that?
* I don’t know what else we can do for you...
Yes! I tried and still try everything !!!
Doctors say this disease is forever. That I will not heal. However, I am not giving up, but I want to make others realize:
* A nap will not cure me but it will help me ...
* I am not lazy, I take medication and it sometimes makes me sleepy.
* I am not angry but sometimes cranky with pain.
* I struggle daily with pain, mobility problems, fatigue, the criticism of my environment.
Most frustratingly, people look at me and say, "It can't be that bad; you look good "
Despite the fact that my body is experiencing excruciating pain everywhere, of course I look good, I always try to look good, it is an "invisible" disease.
This disease affects me physically, mentally and emotionally. Because rare autoimmune diseases cannot be seen, but we feel them.
And they are there ... Silent attack but extra painful.
I AM LOOKING AT THOSE WHO TAKE TIME TO READ THIS POST TO THE END.

Fic Rec🥰
I got the next 3 days off from work!!!!!!!!!!!!! So to spread the love here's a rec😘
I Just Wanna Be With You Every Day by Brego_Mellon_Nin - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 33920, sterek)
When his best friend’s son barrels into the kitchen only dressed in a pair of skintight jeans, lean but defined torso on display, Derek knows he’s truly and utterly fucked. Not only is the kid barely eighteen, but he also happens to be the Sheriff’s only son.
Derek makes a vow to himself that he will not seek Stiles out and he’ll get this thing under control.
History Lesson by Sunnee - (Rating: Mature, Words: 4141, sterek)
Derek let out a heavy sigh that sounded suspiciously like a low growl.
“I’m trying here, Stiles. Can’t you give me at least a little credit?”
Stiles eyes shot back up. I guess we are going to fight.
What I Did On My Summer Vacation by grimm - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 118749, sterek)
There's something weird about Beacon Hills that Stiles can't quite put his finger on. The way everyone in town knows his name the day he arrives. The way they insist the melancholic howling that echoes through the forest every night is just a dog. The way his dad denies getting a dog, even though Stiles comes home to find one sprawled across his bed, some big black thing whose eyes gleam red in the right light. The way that massive oak tree out in the woods vibrates under his touch, pulsing with sickly life.
There's something weird going on in this town, and Stiles is determined to get to the bottom of it.
No Nighttime Shadows by cheshiredog - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 7449, sterek)
Werewolf diseases are apparently a thing, and Stiles ends up playing nurse to a Derek who is maybe not JUST sick.
Little Red Riding Hood by MissYuki1990 - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 35993, sterek)
"You little idiot," Derek muttered, but there was no malice in his voice. "Don't you know what happened to Little Red Riding Hood when she went into the forest alone?"  Stiles laughed breathlessly and Derek chuckled behind him. "Good thing the Hunter found me before the Big Bad Wolf, right?"
Depth of Field by midnitekween - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 7685, sterek)
Stiles loves taking pictures of his pack.
The Best Way to Celebrate by mikkimouse - (Rating: Mature, Words: 460, sterek)
“Lydia’s going to kill us,” Stiles said breathlessly.
Derek hummed against his neck, where he was busy sucking a hickey that felt like it was the size of Stiles’s fist. “Don’t care.”
Calming Effect by venis_envy - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 2443, sterek)
Stiles knows he's too much sometimes. He doesn't have to be told. He feels it...an energy that's too big for his body, a constant buzz in his veins that makes it feel as if he's too much for even his own skin to contain. Some days, he doesn't know quite how to handle it. But Derek does. Derek always knows what Stiles needs.
Based on a prompt smoosh from two separate kinks.
The Night Was All You Had by lupus (khaleeseas) - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 28461, sterek)
Prince Derek Hale, Second Captain of his family's royal army, had suffered a long winter on the road at war with the usurper Deucalion. No one could blame him for wanting to celebrate the warmth of spring and the end of the war in sight with the company of one of the army's cooks. Derek just didn't expect to fall head over heels for a guy he'd paid to have sex with him. But as the war draws to a close and the Hales turn to an unlikely ally, the stakes are raised - testing the loyalty, trust, and relationship that Derek and Stiles have been working so hard to build. All is fair in love and war.
It took a Cemetery by lhr111 - (Rating: Explicit, Words: 6944, sterek)
Derek rushes into a fight and Stiles is pissed, convinced that Derek almost fucked everything up and that they got lucky no one was hurt. He lets Derek know exactly how stupid his behavior was, but the rest of the pack seem more pissed at Stiles. What is he missing?
Some good parenting from the Sheriff may be what he needs to get this mess straightened out.
