Watch Alicent lure a motherless girl to King's Landing to secure her allegiance to their cause- by any means necessary. Private communications, private dinners... does Alicent truly care for the teenager she's brought into her home? Or is she merely a means to an end- fodder for the war, meant only to protect her children?

When your father is Daemon Targaryen, pretty much anyone looks better in comparison- and Criston Cole is no exception! Once fearful of the knight, Rhae quickly comes to appreciate his strength... and his tutelage. He's a tough instructor, but Rhae will put up with anything if it means learning to fight from the best of the best.

Sometimes it feels that Rhae can trace all her problems back to a singular cause- that being none other than her father, Daemon. The Rogue Prince killed her mother and abandoned his daughter for fifteen years. Rhae thinks she ought to kill him for that... but not before understanding one thing: Why?

How is Rhae - a young, disabled, dragonless girl - ever going to face her father? Work. Hard, long years of it. Will her efforts to learn combat and claim a dragon be enough? Can she protect her new family from his wrath? Will she be able to avenge those who have already fallen victim to it?

It would have been SO interesting if s4 showed us Nancy not-quite fitting in with the group while Mike and the Byers are in California. The Hawkins team is basically the Party + Scoops Troop, Nancy hasn’t teamed up with them since (kinda) Steve in s1! I mean, Steve’s her ex, she didn’t know Robin in s3/doesn’t know Eddie, and we’ve seen that she’s not close with her brother’s friends… Nancy isn’t used to the way the kids will steamroll anyone who gets in the way of their plans like Steve is. Would have been funny & interesting to see her expecting the kids to fall in line, or freaking out when they try to do something dangerous, or realizing how much the kids have grown up. Maybe even could have been something Nancy, Steve, and Robin bonded over, which could have helped set up stancy for s5 if that’s the direction the writers want to go.

yes yes yes! Nancy being out of her depth with a group that has established dynamics within it! Her feeling wrong footed with them because everyone involved in the Hawkins story line already know each other in someway, even if not directly (like Eddie and the older teens) Even though she's been through the Upside Down from the beginning, she would still feel like an outsider or newcomer, because everyone is already relatively close! Nancy is the one completely separate from this and has no idea how to get control of the people in this situation, which is something Nancy needs and strives for. Using that to highlight the remaining guilt and alienation and helplessness she feels over Barb would have been so good. Exploring how Nancy is, in some ways, still stuck there, and how it's hindering he ability to work with this group...

If they were/are aiming for s5 stancy then it also would have been a good opportunity for them reconnecting! Steve stepping in and supporting Nancy sometimes, (but not every time) and assisting her adjusting to teamwork rather than having a sidekick (sorry jon buddy but. You were Nancy's sidekick) and integrating into the group. That would have highlighted Steve's growth, while also facilitating Nancy changing as well. It would have been so neat to see, so dynamic! It would have also felt a bit better for the stancy rekindling because it wouldn't have just been Steve not over his ex it would have been an actual re-connection between them, and a different dynamic between them would showcase they've changed as individuals and as a (potential) couple.

I'm kinda confused on where you're going with HoS plot or ending. It seems to hint that darling will undergone some sort of assimilation with Jenova as in your recent stories shows that darling eyes could turn pink occasionally. And it seems all Sephiroths are looking forward for that day to come.

Then I thought... what if when darling is fully absorbed into Jenova or she herself somehow fully absorb Jenova essense into her own being, she becomes something else? It could be a change in her personality or demeanor and it impacted her relationship with Sephiroths in a way that he/they didn't predicted. It could be Jenova has given Sephiroths a false image of the future he wanted. Afterall, Jenova is still not Sephiroths' real mother and might very well has its own agenda.

༻❁༺ Why do Darling and Jenova have a bond?

Great question and observation, anon. Sephiroth acts as the catalyst for Darling and Jenova to form their symbiotic bond. The two are constantly swaying and being swayed by each other, all because of Sephiroth. The doll analogy is prominent here, as the darling is being painted over, especially since she has no recollection of her past life, and the Yandere Sephiroths have their distorted fantasies of what life should be for them and their loved one.

Jenova is an incredibly valuable asset because of her ability to shape-shift and take on the features of those around her, while also being an object of Sephiroth's affection. Sephiroth's attachment to the darling has been a constant throughout the past, present, and will be in his future. And the darling would already have Jenova DNA within her, from Sephiroth, if not another source. So it'd make sense why this relationship between her and Jenova naturally developed. In this AU, some Sephiroths actively nurture the relationship when they discover what is happening. Other Sephys note it, but stand back and let nature run its course, not interfering with it in any way.

For C.C, it's really complicated... C.C.'s shattered, immature mind could not comprehend the complexity of this situation, as he was pulled from his world during a crucial moment with his Jenova. He is the only Sephy who experiences enthusiasm, apathy and ignorance towards this situation at the same or different times. It's extremely hard to read him... I've written a past analysis on his view of it if you're interested here.

Initially, Jenova was dormant at the start of the AU, but as she started to embody some of the darling's qualities, she's grown more active. I introduced the darling's eyes becoming pink like Jenova's to signify her deepening connection to her. For the darling's eyes to turn pink, it's likely these following factors: darling having any intense emotions regarding Jenova (like in doll), engaging with OG Sephy/Jenova!Sephy (like in his recent HoS episode) in any way, or engaging in a highly emotional act with more than one other Sephiroth (like in the gangbang prompt). Again, all the Sephiroths are facilitating this growing, symbiotic relationship between Darling and Jenova, whether intentionally or unintentionally, depending on the Sephiroth in question.

I like to think C.C can induce the eye transformation (SOMETIMES) within the darling on his own because of the unique bond between him and her. The bond that was built on his craving for the maternal love he found in her. The other Sephys will be able to induce it soon enough too, with their connection to OG Sephy and each other deepening.

It's interesting that you mentioned the personality change, something I'm trying to slowly communicate through my recent depictions of the darling. She's becoming a bit more fiery recently, if you noticed. She had even managed to shock AC Sephy with her bold defiance lately. I wonder if we'll be seeing more of that... 😏.

༻❁༺ Crisis Cuties's bond with each other and Jenova.

The Sephiroths themselves are increasingly intertwined with each other. They often echo each other's words, mirror some of the other's habits, and act in perfect harmony sometimes. It's almost akin to a beehive, with darling as the queen bee, her devotees tending to her every need...

At the start of his downfall, Jenova may have misled Sephiroth, but his determination will make the future he wants come true. And he is using Jenova to make it happen. I always been of the opinion that Sephiroth is in complete control by the time FF7 happens and that is the idea I'm going with for this AU. I also believe Sephiroth made his own decision to commit atrocities during the Nibelheim Incident, with Jenova influencing him. His rage and sorrow were so heavy in the air, and with him so close, it would be effortless for Jenova to charm him and have him wrapped around her...

But Sephiroth's sheer force of will was so powerful that it overwhelmed Jenova's, making her subservient to him over time. In the AU and some of my yandere Sephy works, the Jenova and Darling symbiosis reflects Sephiroths' powerful drive and his twisted fantasies. It also emphasizes his authoritative presence and affection for both of his beloved objects by them slowly becoming one.

But in HoS, the Sephys didn't expect the darling's powerful will, regarding her amnesia. Nonetheless, it only makes the process of breaking her even more tantalizing.

Hope this clears up some confusion.

Moonlight Chicken Ep 3 Stray Thoughts

It's been an incredible week reacting to this show, and I've been particularly enjoying some of analysis from @telomeke and @respectthepetty, particularly this examination of the film Jim can't watch anymore. I'm also taken with how much homage and respect for film tradition that exists before them permeates Aof's work; there's a quality to this show that reminds me of Wong Kar-Wai that I can't exactly place yet.

Last time, we learned that Praew was pregnant, and Mark Pakin made me cry when Saleng received the dowry Jim acquired for him. Jim currently can't afford car insurance, and backed into a pair of folks on a motorcycle. Wen paid the folks off, further connecting the two of them. Speaking of Wen, he and Gaipa are now at quiet war over Jim, who is definitely in danger. Elsewhere, Li Ming opened up to Wen about his desire to travel, and began bonding with Heart (and, coincidentally, our hearts).

We're opening with Wen's work with this mall to demolish all of the traditional and street vendors. Hate how this is happening everywhere. Even Americans want street food. Look at how popular food trucks are.

Chapter 3: The Dream of the Eternal Moon

Gaipa is not happy about his mom helping them convince people to sell their businesses, and seems to be holding his tongue. I think Khaotung said that Gaipa completed college, so it's possible that his mom isn't keen on keeping her stall because she thinks he can take care of himself.

Well she's not wrong about traditional neighborhoods becoming a tourist attraction, and demolition being a missed opportunity.

Gemini and Fourth have learned a lot in their training. They use their eyes really well for newcomers. Heart seems genuinely happy to teach someone else how to communicate with him. I also like how they only have one pad and pen. It's very clear who is trying to say something that way, and the other has to agree by surrendering the tools.

Saleng is never gonna miss a chance to tease Jim.

Jim's existence feels anti-modern in so many ways. Despite his struggles, he donates to a community event and refuses promotion. You can see it affecting Wen, because it makes him uncomfortable to wear his work badge in the face of so much local camaraderie.

I like Jim's half-joking, practical view on faith. It's something he turns to when he's troubled, and believes helps him; or he convinces himself that they have already helped.

When will a man look at me the way Wen and Jim look at each other?

Oh snap a flashback. So Papang gets to play the man who made Jim give up on love? They took the risk to open this business together, and now he's gone?

Why would Beam leave his phone unlocked if he's seeing someone else?

How long has Jim conflated his failed romance with the beef he has with his homophobic sister?

At least the landlord came face to face to talk about the future of the diner. It also seems like he just assumes he can have whatever food he wants?

I'm with Li Ming. Why does a man with an upscale bike and is planning to sell off their livelihood deserve a free meal?

I'd be angry if I was Jim, too. Sleeping with someone working to demolish your livelihood and community, and who you let into that world?

Gaipa and Jim may get along, but does Jim know of his mom's role in this as a facilitator? Also, not sure how to read Saleng looking at them from the balcony.

Li Ming is failing school, and it doesn't look optimistic.

I wonder if Fourth will be playing a loser in 23.5 degrees as well. Both of his characters we've seen recently aren't great students, and have a lot of obstacles in front of their dreams.

Man, I really hope tensions ease between Li Ming and Jim. I never like when the kids in our extended family circle are at odds with us like this.

Absolutely losing it over Li Ming's Sesame Street "Everything I know I leaned on The Street" shirt.

I like how careful Wen is with Li Ming. He only asks questions so Li Ming can voice his frustrations, and then gives a gentle nudge to express those feelings clearly to Jim.

It's really clever to show Li Ming picking up on sign language as he's struggling with school. Shows that he's not dumb; he's just unmotivated with school.

Also, we can confirm that the chin thing is a Fourth thing with Gemini.

Not keen on the teens raiding the liquor cabinet, but I don't see Li Ming resisting a cute boy.

Interesting, this is Wen's stepdad, and he offers useful perspective on managing complicated romances.

"We're just friends," he says as he drinks Jim's beer of choice.

Oh no, the teens think they're clever by watering down the liquor.

Again, it's interesting seeing Gemini and Fourth twice right now, because Fourth looks down at Gemini's lips at similar timing as in My School President.

I feel like Fourth must have grown after filming this. Gemini seems taller than him here more than he does in MSP.

This notion of a hard life in America being better than life in Thailand is hinted at in The Warp Effect as well, and reflects conversations we've had with Thai friends we have locally.

Wen is tactful. Jim draws the class line between them, and Wen doesn't challenge it.

Aof wasn't lying. Fourth and Gemini are very cute together.

To give some more opinions, I like it most when he’s either at his cruelest or most pathetic. The best scene was when he threatens to skin her 🤷‍♀️

I love the pettiness of them having a telepathic bond and using it for fucking psychological warfare. Or well the Darkling does. Alina takes way too long to catch on and needle him as much. I wish she’d gotten the chance to fuck him up more. But anyway I generally find it so funny how much of the dynamic relies on her just being… fairly normal and then he’s Like That.

I love Alina as the constantly weirded out, narrative and comedic straight main to his supervillain melodrama.

Nikolina

This has been my TGT OTP for awhile, me and like five other people lmao. I like it most in AU and canon divergent scenarios tbh, partially because their dynamic is really chill and I love conflict and angst. I like it when there’s some aspect of pining, unrequited feelings, or just the shadow of other issues looming over the relationship. Like I love this ship in situations where they’re PerseveringTM together despite The Horrors, basically?

And I mean I’ve already talked a few times about how I really like their polar opposite priorities and ambitions. They contrast each other fairly strongly while still getting along very well. And that’s something I usually find very compelling. I like this ship most for AUs where they like self actualize/compromise/learn to cope with shared trauma etc. I want them to work through shit and learn to be happy!

Zoyalina

Rivals to lovers is soooo fun! Alina can’t go two minutes without mentioning how hot Zoya is. And I think LB genuinely meant it more for reader info/to get into Alina’s insecurity but it reads SO gay.

There’s like two main dynamics I really like for them. Okay three. But one is like a riff on early SAB era, where they bond while still both under the Darkling’s thumb, despite being pitted against each other. The other is like leaning into a devotion, saint and warrior/bodyguard/devotee type thing. Third is post R&R Alina retreating to her orphanage and it being explicit in the epilogue that Zoya visits and writes and even gives her a kefta because she’ll always be Grisha. And idk I’m just obsessed with Zoya, who’s so unused to that sort of kindness, being gentle or drawing her out of her shell in her own gruff way.

Genyalina

I love them!!! But also the plot just doesn’t give me much to work with past SaB. That inherent conflict of Genya lying to her and never sending Alina’s letters, while genuinely connecting with her is SO good. I love it, and that’s my favorite dynamic for them. And I also love the explicit comparison drawn between Genya’s own trauma and being exploited by the king, and Alina being groomed by the Darkling even if Alina’s not herself fully like cognizant of it. (Kind of similar to the SaB era Zoyalina dynamic, girls connecting over being manipulated and controlled by men/the same man even is a dynamic that I find very compelling) But past that point in the series I don’t have as much like… thoughts about them? I still love them and love when they interact but it doesn’t intrigue me in the same way.

Zoyanikolina

Okay okay maybe this is the real OTP… OT3… series ship of all time. KoS (more the idea of it than the execution) did convert me to Zoyalai to an extent, the pining is soooo good. And I already love Zoyalina and Nikolina separately so obvs the best way to go here is to smoosh them all together lmao.

My fave take is facilitated through a Nikolina political marriage that’s kind of complicated for everyone involved. And meanwhile Alina seeing all the insane pining going down and being like. Well. Are you going to do something about this or???

I may be writing this lmao so I’m generally thinking about it a lot. But Alina being the most emotionally intelligent one while simultaneously very NOT self aware about her own feelings is just very funny to me.

Zoyalarkling

So having confirmed that this is Zoya/Alina/Darkling hm! Hm! Not sure I can see this one except in very very particular circumstances. I feel like the Zoyalina dynamic when they’re both still into the Darkling is defined by rivalry and being in competition with each other. So I don’t think they’d be… happy about a poly scenario. But also the Darkling’s probably TERRIBLE enough to be like Ah yes here is my teenaged harem. So I could see a very fucked up version. Meanwhile I just don’t get the sense that Zoya harbors like any attraction whatsoever for him the way Alina does after Everything Goes Down. I could see some kind of insane hate fucking scenario, but like only very particularly?

I can’t help but make Hannibal comparisons when I think of KoS type scenarios/anything where they keep the Darkling jailed. But I could see Zoya as his jailor being very interesting (Chilton or Alana Bloom esque) And we canonically have him like demanding to see Alina, though again canon didn’t do nearly enough with it. So could I see a weird psychosexual SOTL/NBC Hannibal arc for these three? Mayhaps.

Darknikolina

Love them! I’m generally a fan of Darklolai and I think there’s a lot of very interesting unexplored territory in terms of what the dynamic between Nikolai and the Darkling even is. LB, even in KoS, tends to skirt around how they perceive each other fairly carefully? I think probably because she knows how much it’d expose the painfully thin politics and court set up lmao. But I think there’s room for very personal loathing —> fascination.

Anyway I am really interested in circumstances where like Nikolina get married For Politics and then the Darkling’s just in jail 5ever and things get weird. Or alternatively (I basically wrote this already) but a bad ending scenario where the Darkling wins and they’re both basically his captives.

I think there’s also a lot of mileage to be gotten out of the Darkling basically lying dormant inside Nikolai lmao/at least some of his power remaining there. And there are interesting body sharing weirdness places you could go with that. And complicate it even further by bringing Alina into the mix.

This was probably my favorite SoC ship dynamic lmaoooo which I mean I knew was never going anywhere! But then gets further tanked by the clear comparison between Jesper and Jordie. I just really liked that initial pining set up where Jesper was desperate to prove himself to Kaz, to just get him to at all give him the time of day. And Kaz is just… frankly kind of cruel to him! Idk the conflict was really interesting. I would’ve loved to see the dynamic explored

Eh. I didn’t really like them in the books tbh? I think they had some effective scenes in CK particularly but also like it wasn’t effective in a shippy sense to me necessarily. I did actually like them in the show a lot! So that’s made me more partial to it. But it’s still just not something I’d bother to think about outside of actually watching the show/reading the books.

Chronicles of Roses Devlog 3: Design Notes Ursula

Hiya !! 

It’s Scarlett :D

Today I’m showcasing Chronicle of Roses’ mastermind, catalyst, and secondary antagonist: the Holy Prophet, Queen Ursula.

Queen Ursula is the ruler of Lorne, worshipped by all her people as their Holy Prophet. She’s revered as a god-like figure to her people, ruling with benevolence, generosity, and a tightening iron fist.

Queen Ursula is the one who starts the game’s plot as she’s the one who kidnapped Lilith. She’s the catalyst for everything, she's the one who found the prophecy, took Lilith in as a child, she promoted Ronya to a Raven despite Ronya’s heritage. Ursula’s taken care of both these women in her own way (favouriting Lilith quite a lot). She’s the one who’s manipulated countless situations and souls in alignment with her and Lilith’s destiny. Setting off the ritual that corrupts the entire city, or will it cure it?

Ursula is absent throughout most of the game, but she’s set up through other characters talking about her, through notes, and paintings found scattered throughout the city. Her presence is felt at all times despite her only showing up for one fight. 

The main inspirations for Ursula were Queen Marika from Elden Ring, Falke from Signalis, and Odin from Norse mythology. Ronya already had a lot of Raven imagery surrounding her, since I absolutely adore ravens, and Armored Core 6 is one of my favourite games, but the idea of the Ravens came properly into fruition with us connecting Ursula to Odin, who has two ravens Huginn and Muninn which he uses to keep an eye on all nine realms. Putting that and the Valkyrie together really facilitated the bond between COR and Norse mythology. This also impacted the ideation for the Circle of Roots, the holy order of warriors protecting Queen Ursula and the realm; they will be discussed in more detail in the next devlog.

With Queen Marika, the inspiration is quite obvious; Ursula manipulated countless chains of events which led to the ritualistic sacrifice of Lilith. Such as sending Ronya away for her quest, rewriting her people’s history, and manipulating her entire queendom for decades.

Falke is a great piece of inspiration due to her close relationship with Elster and Arianne and her immense power that potentially helps the sickness spread in Sierpinski-23. In Signalis it’s a one-sided (?) kinship, whereas in Chronicle of Roses, the relationship Ursula has with Lilith and Ronya is real and two-sided (I’m sorry Falke, you will dance with her again i promiisise). And in COR, Ursula's actions might be what undoes everything she's built up.

Most of our visual inspirations are from quite ethereal paintings, royal sets from different Soulsborne games, and for me, Talulah from Arknights. As both Li and I love silver and black, we decided to subvert common depictions of churches and holiness used in media, i.e. the use of white, gold, and red. Instead, we let the witches be associated with those colours, giving the church and holy order black, silver, and greys as their primary palette. Ursula’s armour is heavily based on mid-1600s armours, especially royal armour with their intricate engravings and flourishes. We have yet to decide on a weapon for her but I’ve been heavily leaning towards her using a Zweihander or some sort of great-sword. 

Thematically, Ursula is a foil to Ronya. Ursula will do whatever it takes to fulfil her prophecy, and Ronya will do whatever it takes to save her wife. Ursula clings to her destiny with every fibre of her being, and Ronya clings to Lilith with every fibre of her being. What differentiates the two, is that Ronya learns to let go, to move forward without the need for another being, ideology or faith. 

I love Ursula. She was the character that really tied everything together at the beginning of our ventures with this game. Li and I were quite lost in the beginning of the summer on how to progress and flesh out the story. Then we started riffing on and on about Ursula, her prophecy, and her role in the whole game as she was very underdeveloped. Developing her also led to us properly fleshing out Lilith and her relationship with Ursula and Ronya, leading to Li getting fully on board with the game ! Which I’m very thankful for to this day haha :3

Ursula is also a fascinating character to write about and explore, her relation with destiny and fate, both growing more and more weary and tired of seeing any attempt at deviation leading to exactly where she needs to be while also pushing further and further to see it through. Her relationship with Lilith is so juicy to write, the irony of Ursula growing so close to the lamb that she has to slaughter for the greater good. And to be 100% set in going through with it nevertheless rather than having her change her mind right before plunging the knife into Lilith’s heart. Ursula’s fully intent on killing Ronya for it; another girl that she’s seen grow up, taking care of her little by little. Fascinating.

so right and also this isn't just riding the wave after walking dead, bc we have to give it to them, they were the first ones who did a setting where the zombies were just a facilitator for the interpersonal connections and societal changes taking place in an apocalyptic scenery. before that, zombie media focused mainly on the zombies as a creature feature and the main emotions were fear, despair and building up the will to fight, with characters usually painted in a less in-depth way. and the walking dead shifted this focus to the people, detailing the complex processes of interactions between them and the multitude of emotions experienced (however I think they kinda fucked up by dragging that shit for what seemed forever but whatevsies still got to give this to them). AND THEN tlou (the game) shifted this to another level by taking you even further into a shorter but more personal storyline while also strengthening the bonds between the player and the characters by interaction, making the emotions truly yours in a way, while making you take care of characters, and by this extending your investment in the story, showing multiple sides of it, making you question the morality of the characters in a thought provoking way, they give characters in you hands, that you have to protect now, that you fucking tried to kill!!! earlier. and in some cases did actually kill. the game makes you go back in time and you have to experience the other side, meet the people who you already viciously killed. by this for me it's unlike any other game with similar functions bc its so much more emotionally (for me!) AND THEN tlou by HBO fucking went and twisted this whole thing, expanding and examining the societal and personal connections even deeper, giving you more time to rly face things that i guess a lot of us didn't think about before. it emphasized the diversity of people even more, pointing it out for gamers who didn't notice this before (for example a lot of people who aren't that queercoded or just don't pay that much of attention to these kinda things didn't realize Bill was gay, and that they were partners CANONICALLY and they got mad at the series and it's like?? they were queer all along and also u were playing a game with a lesbian main character so whats up?? ) making it more evident that we have to pay attention to marginalized and minority people, we have to lift them up and take care of each other or else we fucking die. all of us. it's a transparent message that we have to get our shit together, and that all kind of people deserve happiness, love, safety and understanding. can't wait for s2!! (also if you haven't played the games yet, I highly recommend (even if you're not familiar with these kinda games) if you're able to play!!)

I need to get over Sam for real.s. I still have pangs if « missing him » sometimes. But I’m not missing him, I’m missing obsessing over him. I miss it being so easy to be made happy by one person, because all my eggs were in one basket or whatever. Because I had ONE ideal, ONE kind of person who made me happy. He checked all my boxes, and that was so addictive. There’s no one who checks all my boxes anymore because they’re not as simple, I understand nuance lol. I’ve changed. « Missing Sam » is just a manifestation of missing who k was then. Someone with simple, easy to reach standards. The bar was low and unconnected to things that are actually good for me. But it was like a slot machine, having a conversation with him. Enough reward for me to want to keep talking but so little payoff that it sucked me dry so I couldn’t connect with anyone else. Because I wasn’t « finished » connecting to him. It felt like things were exponential, like the closer we got the closer we got you know? And that somewhat true, but not in a good way. The more we talked the more we talked yes, and there was bonding and intimacy there, but we don’t make each other more happy overall. He didn’t make me feel stable. The closer we got the bigger the risk of losing him was; the more it would hurt. He didn’t make me more grounded, he didn’t help me find myself, in fact my conception of myself became more blurry the more we talked. It was extremely invalidating. And I know I invalidâtes him as well.

I miss not knowing myself well. I miss battling fo defend my identity to maintain a sense of autonomy. It felt like Sisyphus, but here I am now with a relatively fleshed out identity and I actually feel grounded in myself, and I don’t know what to do with myself.

But it’s important for me to remember that I am in a better place now, and that it wouldn’t benefit me to talk to Sam again ti feel that same sense of purpose, because he wouldn’t give me that sense of purpose because I already have what I was looking for in him. Validation

I don’t feel invalid anymore, at all. That’s wonderful. But I do feel purposeless, now that I’ve achieved that. So the solution to getting over Sam is. To get a hobby that I have for myself, not to facilitate closeness with someone similar to me

Thats thé thing, we were a LOT alike. We were fighting to be the most « like that. » I don’t think we’re alike deep down, but we occupied a similar social niche that we both heavily identified with. And both wanted authority over. We needed eachother close to verify that we were winning. And, we really enjoyed eachothers company. Because of the validation from competition, but also because we’re both engaging conversationalists with similar interests who see each other as fully human and want what’s best for each other. Oh yeah and the attraction. A lot of that.

But, I adapted his hobbies because I knew I would like them. I listened to his music because I knew I would like it. Watched his movies, listened to his podcasts, read his books. Etc etc. I was burdendwd with glorious purpose to prove to Sam that I was the same as him, and better at it. A burden, because I shouldn’t have had to do that. Glorious, because the performance WAS very self expressive and enjoyable. Purpose because, well, it gave me something to focus on and do with myself.

Now it’s like « I don’t have to find myself by looking for people who I resonate with to tell me that I’m not being fake by being similar to them, I can just understand that everything I do IS an expression of who I am and that if I’m really really quiet I can feel a solidness inside me, way at the bottom of a not so bottomless abyss. I am human, and I am grounded » 

So. Well. Core pathology of BPD cured then I guess. But now, as an improvement, I get to be stable by being bored and depressed and lowkey a bitch because I don’t care about impressing people anymore. I have to find REAL reasons to be kind. And I do still want to be kind. I just have to work to get into a genuinely empathetic headspace because there not that same addictive, slot machinée style emotional payoff for it.
