I need to thank @celluloidbroomcloset for planting the phrase "Izzy Hands is an angry incel" in my head because that is truly how I see him. It's the entitlement; the violation of boundaries; the jealousy; the creepy love confessions; the fury at not getting what he wants; the centering of himself in other people's stories; the constant lying and manipulation; culminating in him positioning himself as a romantic hero to save Ed from himself.

He's Yolanda to Ed's Selena. He's Joe Goldberg. He's only saved from that path by moving on and accepting community from the crew.

Elwood received the best gift of his life on Christmas Day 1962, even if the ideas it put it in his head were his undoing. Martin Luther King At Zion Hill was the only album he owned and it never left the turntable. His grandmother Hattie had a few gospel records, which she only played when the world discovered a new mean way to work on her, and Elwood wasn’t allowed to listen to the Motown groups or popular songs like that on account of their licentious nature. The rest of his presents that year were clothes – a new red sweater, socks – and he certainly wore those out, but nothing endured such good and constant use as the record. Every scratch and pop it gathered over the months was a mark of his enlightenment, tracking each time he entered into a new understanding of the Reverend’s words. The crackle of truth.

They didn’t have a TV set but Dr. King’s speeches were such a vivid chronicle -- containing all that the Negro had been and all that he would be -- that the record was almost as good as television. Maybe even better, grander, like the towering screen at the Davis Drive-In, which he’d been to twice. Elwood saw it all: Africans persecuted by the white sin of slavery, Negroes humiliated and kept low by segregation, and that luminous image to come, when all those places closed to his race were opened.

The speeches had been recorded all over, Detroit and Charlotte and Montgomery, connecting Elwood to the rights struggle across the country. One speech even made him feel like a member of the King family. Every kid had heard of Fun Town, been there or envied someone who had. In the third cut on Side A, Dr. King spoke of how his daughter longed to visit the amusement park on Stewart Ave in Atlanta. Yolanda begged her parents whenever she spotted the big sign from the expressway or the commercials came on TV. Dr. King had to tell her in his low, sad rumble about the segregation system that kept colored boys and girls on the other side of the fence. Explain the misguided thinking of some whites -- not all whites, but enough whites – that gave it force and meaning. He counseled his daughter to resist the lure of hatred and bitterness and assured her that “Even though you can’t go to Fun Town, you are as good as anyone who gets to go to Fun Town.”

That was Elwood -- good as anyone. A hundred miles south of Atlanta, in Tallahassee. Sometimes he saw a Fun Town commercial while visiting his cousins in Georgia. Lurching rides and happy music, chipper white kids lining up for the Wild Mouse Roller Coaster, Dick’s Mini Golf. Strap into the Atomic Rocket for a Trip to the Moon. A perfect report card guaranteed free admission, the commercials said, if your teacher stamped a red mark on it. Elwood got all A’s and kept his stack of evidence for the day they opened Fun Town to all God’s children, as Dr. King promised. “I’ll get in free every day for a month, easy,” he told his grandmother, lying on the front room rug and tracing a threadbare patch with his thumb.

Somewhere, distantly, Courtney thought that this had all started because of a bad photo in a locket. Justice for a grainy memory of a father who hadn’t even been real, not really. It had grown, quickly. It had been about Joey. It had been about Henry. It had been about saving the town, the country, the world. But this was what it was always going to be. The JSA--new, and shaken, but there-- versus Icicle. 

Cameron was a surprise. Courtney’s heart clenched. Starman stood behind him, behind Icicle, the Staff in hand. It still glowed, but dimmer. 

Icicle gave some carefully worded speech--about neutral ground, and his family. About setting aside differences. Like this whole thing had been some big misunderstanding over something as small as which was better, chicken or dumplings, and not decades worth of senseless murder. Courtney clenched her fists, wishing She had the staff, wishing she could blast him right in his smug, unrepentant face.  Did he think that just because she'd seen how hard the Crocks and Cindy had worked to be heroes that she'd just believe him when he lied? 

"Where's Pat?" she asked. 

Starman spoke. "Pat's gone, Courtney." 

She didn't drop. She wanted to. 

"Gone?" she repeated. Hoping she'd just misheard. 

"He came to see me, after Jordan and I settled things," he said, his tone unaffected. "I apologized and tried to convince him to join forces with both of us. He refused. He went into the woods alone, looking for the Ultra-Humanite."

Beth gave a tiny shake of her head. Courtney wasn't sure it was bright enough for anyone else to see it, but she knew Beth, by now.  The goggles had told her that Starman was lying. 

"--who killed him," Starman finished. 

Courtney felt Beth freeze beside her, heard the tiny gasp.  She couldn't believe it. But Beth did. Rick took one step left, a subtle raise of his shoulder, Yolanda mirroring it. 

Whatever you say goes, they telegraphed. We've got your back.

"If we're going to get any justice for Pat, we need to team up, Courtney," Jordan said, that same oilslick tone in his voice. 

Justice.  Courtney felt her blood run hot. Across the packed dirt, she saw the Staff flicker.

"Justice?" she repeated. "You--you're talking to me about Justice?"

"Courtney," Cameron said. "I'm so sorry." He took a step forward, and Jordan put out a hand to stop him. 

"You did this," Courtney said, eyes still fixed on Jordan. "You murdered the Crocks. You murdered Joey. What did you do to Pat?"

"I didn't do anything," Jordan said. "Courtney, I've already--"

"It was Starman." Beth's tiny whisper broke through the blood pounding in Courtney's ears. "Dirt under his nails. Bu--burst calluses from--a shovel--" her voice cracked. 

Courtney stared. "You killed Pat," she said, cutting off Icicle. "You said you were his friend. and you killed him. You've been with Icicle this whole time." 

Neither of them denied it.  Courtney held out her hand, even as she watched Cameron take a step back. 

"Dad? You said--"

"I said what I had to," Icicle said. "I did what I had to. We both did. It was for You. It was for a better world."

"Liar!" Courtney burst out.

The Staff, in Starman's--in the Thing pretending, because Starman would never--hand, exploded with light as Courtney held out one hand, singular in purpose.

It tore away from him, streaking to her hand like the meteor that had once ended the world. The warmth of it fit perfectly in her grip, two flames becoming a bonfire. 

If Icicle and his parents, if the Killer, realized what was about to happen, they didn't have time to do anything about it. Courtney screamed. The October air crystalized, a perfect moment where the dark divided in two, split by golden fire.

Icicle's feeble wall of ice didn't even melt, sizzling into the air with the intensity of the Staff. Courtney could feel its grief as keenly as her own, all of the rage, all of the hurt pouring through her and it. The power that channeled through her matched her scream, held only barely back by three hands on her shoulders. 

Pat wouldn't want her to kill.  Pat wouldn't want them to kill. She wanted to kill, wanted to erase any trace of them. The fire fought her slim control. She bore it back, held it back, tears blinding her as much as the light When the gout of yellow light finally broke, along with her voice, she did not drop, supported by Rick, Yolanda, Beth. Cameron. 

This had started as justice for an unknown father. It ended with justice for her Dad.

"Did you seriously eat all my oreos," She says sternly as she stands in between you and the TV shaking an empty package of oreos in front of your face.

"I didn't eat your damn oreos besides you work for a millionaire you can just ask him to buy you more now move," you say pushing her aside like you used to when you were kids and annoying each other.

"I don't know didn't you, Sofia and Yolanda have a girls night last night, Yolanda always steals your snacks when she's been drinking," you tell her.

You had a point but there was no way Gabi was giving up now, if there was one thing she didn't like to do it was admit she was wrong, especially to her little brother.

Gabi is fuming when Sofia comes home from work and she can sense the tension in the air.

Hey! I did wanna chime in about Bella as well (I’m certainly biased because 1. i’m kinda simple and 2. She definitely one of my favorite models out of the unearned successes of this day and age). I think she is most likely a victim of her mother’s abuse and manipulation above anything. I could also be manipulated by her but she was definitely psychologically and mentally abused by her mother and is still attached to her to this day seeking her “love”. I don’t think Bella is like an ariana grande or meghan markle; as someone else said lunar natives can be total victims of manipulation and Bella seems to be mire in that boat imo, especially when she is also a Venusian. I personally can just read it on her face she is being fully sincere; and her mother is genuinely a sick, evil person forcing her daughters to be tools to live vicariously through as models.

Yolanda is not a loving mother at all and favors Gigi because she looks more like herself, Bella has been open about her mother’s mistreatment of her and it is genuinely the root of her problems and troubles. I think that maybe you might not have known what a horrible person yolanda is but she doesn’t deserve either of her children; it’s common knowledge in the U.S. that Bella is a victim of her fucking monstrous, selfish, narcissistic mother and Gigi was simply lucky because she was her mother’s favorite. I don’t doubt that you’re correct on the fake illness but Bella Hadid is not like the others, although I could be wrong as well, but nothing about her is malignant except for her potential deception. Moon natives that are manipulative in the way you’ve described before have a personal gain and are just cold in the face from my observation. They are not that good of actors because they are so selfish and unempathetic (ariana has a babyface and an evil ass spirit and meghan markle is the devil crying about how she keeps creating her own hell) and Bella is the exact opposite. I don’t disagree that Bella needs to have more boundaries (she posts herself crying and sick and in all these painful situations) but I don’t think it’s a manipulation tactic, she is an unequivocal victim of child abuse and undoubtedly current abuse. The only manipulation she might be consciously doing js just trying to get the sympathy and care she has never gotten from a narcissistic mother—AND victims of narcissists pick up the tactics of their abusers if they never get free of those kinds if people. I don’t doubt your theory at all though, the documents are pretty damning but it’s not out of the evil of bella’s heart—she’s one of the only celebrities in the U.S. who has always been unequivocally pro-palestine as a palestinian herself and her character has been nothing but genuine save for the standard model lies about what actually is eaten and “I just had a good workout routine”, Bella has abused herself from the abuse she has suffered from those around her and if you’re still skeptical you can look it up online. It’s actually very sad and depressing.

Yolanda Hadid is a horrible woman. The vitriol should undoubtedly be directed to yolanda, just look up some vids and you’ll see 🤬. I hate that bitch as much as I hate some world leaders. She deserves the worst for what she did/does to her daughters and Gigi luckily did not suffer as much as Bella did, and Bella will keep looking so sad and sick as long as she still values her mother’s “love”. I don’t doubt she’s lying but she doesn’t deserve any hate at all really. She’s a victim not a villain. I notice a lot of moon women have toxic and manipulative mothers, actually. My best friend and my own mother have had horrible relationships with mothers than had no boundaries and wanted complete control of their children. I just wanted to send in the ask because I feel the gun should be rightly loaded and shot but it’s pointed at the wrong target. Yolanda the Mercurial is the problem here, not Lunar Bella.

I am pretty sure I mentioned in my post that I think Bella fully believes that she has whatever she has and I also mentioned in the same post that Moon dominants are easily susceptible to manipulation as they are manipulative. I also criticised Yolanda?? And I also mentioned that Bella & Yolanda probably use their shared Lyme disease as some kind of bonding activity bc it's probably the only time Bella feels like Yolanda cares about her or whatever (which is very sad) so I don't know what you're pointing out that I haven't already mentioned in my post???

I completely understand Bella being a victim of a horribly abusive mother but I also definitely think Bella also loves to be seen as sick and suffering, which given the long history of Yolanda perhaps validating and encouraging that type of behaviour, could make sense.

I have mentioned several times in many asks that I answered about it that I like Bella and just wish she could get actual help so no I don't think she's evil???

Yolanda's Hitter primary, and I think thief secondary. Rick's Maker Primary, hitter secondary, and Courtney's thief primary, mastermind secondary. not having a Primary Grifter or a Primary Mastermind might cause problems but hey that's what unexpected allies later are for, right?? Episode 3 ~ Brushstrokes

Yolanda eventually had to go home and I hope I gave her something to think about but I have my own relationship to think of first and I have a feeling that Antonio is up to something.

"Where were you all day, did you see Yolanda?" I asked him.

"Umm, she came over? Guess I missed her I was-"

"You were not working out," because if he were I would be able to smell it on him. "You didn't leave the house so what were you doing?"

"I was reading," he says at once but I can tell he's lying. Which worries me. I know he's lying because he's not one for reading much and he’s not much of a liar either. "What? I was reading! I swear!"

Hmmmm...ok, ok, I don't think he's doing something bad like cheating on me or anything but he's definitely cooking up something.
