does not take no for an answer when he apologises. that is a bad trait of his— sae thinks everything will go his way. so when you flat out said you wouldn't forgive him this time for even disrespecting you in the first place, his anger heightens. when you want to walk away, he will simply pull you back, heartfelt apologies he muttered in hopes of you forgiving him. but you're so hurt by him that he could see it in your eyes. it held the fading reflection of the last chance. and maybe, just maybe... you've lost the spark with him. he died a little on the inside at that surfacing realisation.

a/n: hi! i was able to write a little bit about it since i know a bit of the story white nights... but only the general scope of it, still hope you enjoy!

walks into the room and sees you absolutely sobbing. 

his immediate thought: someone died. 

his second thought: you’re breaking up with him. 

“what the hell happened? who do i have to kill?” 

you, sniffling: “... nastenka… she was in love with someone else… and he just let her go and was happy for her and–” 

he blinks. “who the hell is nas–” 

and suddenly you’re spiraling, explaining every detail of the story, your voice cracking as you quote the most heart-wrenching lines. you’re devastated. he is confused. 

rin: “is this a real person?” 

you: “NO THAT’S THE TRAGEDY!!!” 

he just sits there in silence. stunned. reevaluating how dangerous literature is. 

itoshi sae

walks in sipping a drink and sees you curled on the couch clutching a book like it betrayed you. 

“... you okay?” 

“no.” 

“... you hurt?” 

“not physically.” 

“... someone in the book died?” 

“no. worse.” 

he raises an eyebrow and sits down. listens to your dramatic retelling with a bored face, but he’s actually paying close attention. 

“… so he waited for her. and she just left?” 

“yes,” you cry. “AND HE WAS STILL HAPPY FOR HER.” 

he stares. nods slowly. “damn. even i wouldn’t do that.” 

actually kind of impressed by the emotional devastation. gives you a tissue and tells you he’s never letting you near russian literature again.

he panics. so fast. sees your tears and is IMMEDIATELY on his knees beside you like “what happened? who hurt you? was it me?” 

you barely manage to whisper “... it was dostoyevsky…” 

he blinks. “who???” 

and then you launch into an emotional monologue about the book’s themes, the tragic character arcs, the lost love, the gut-wrenching ending. like you’ve fully become an english lit professor mid-breakdown. 

isagi is so overwhelmed. nodding too much. doesn’t know half the words you're using but he’s trying to comfort you like “i-i’m sure… the guy in the story… um. he’s okay now. in heaven maybe?” 

gives you hot chocolate and wraps you in a blanket. tells you to read something happier next time. like manga. specifically sports manga. 

mikage reo

thought someone harassed or assaulted you. got so scared. 

when you tell him you’re crying because a fictional man couldn’t be with his true love and just let her go… he’s SHOCKED at your loyalty to characters you’ve known for like 200 pages. 

“so like. this man just lost everything?” 

“YES.” 

“and you chose to read that?” 

he’s baffled. voluntarily choosing pain is not in his rich boy vocabulary. 

hugs you dramatically like he’s the one who lost nasenka. buys you a fancy notebook to “write your feelings.” starts researching classics so he can join your next breakdown. 

nagi seishiro 

“why are you crying?” 

you show him the book. he reads the first line and immediately goes “nope.” 

not built for literary pain. not even a little bit. 

listens to you rant while lying upside-down on the couch. looks vaguely horrified when you start passionately yelling about unrequited love. 

“why didn’t they just… text each other or something.” 

“nagi. it was 1848.” 

goes completely silent. 

“oh.” 

he lets you lie on his chest while you cry. plays soothing music in the background. he doesn’t understand it, but he respects it. kind of.

walks in while you’re sobbing and immediately gasps like he just read the ending.

you tell him it was a fictional man in 19th-century russia who just wanted to be loved. 

instantly invested. 

sits beside you, holding your hand, fully immersed as you retell the story. reacts to every twist like it’s a soap opera.

cries with you. then doodles little fanart of the characters afterward. names your tears “artistic expression.” dramatic soulmates.

sees you crying. looks around. sees no blood, no broken bones, no evidence of trauma.

“it wasn’t stupid. it was tragic.” 

you start explaining it and he immediately starts judging the characters like a reality TV show host.

BNHA 407 : AFO is a lying liar who lies

Today is a very sad day because I am about to do something I genuinely dislike: I am about to defend All for One. In order to cope, I shall make fun of him the whole time.

AFO and Yoichi's backstory is finally out, with AFO narrating it, and there are two possibilities: he is either completely lying about it (boring) or he is lying a little about it (very in-character for him) because he is also lying to himself.

Lie number 1: AFO was born evil.

The narrator (AFO, seriously, it's AFO) says things such as "The baby drained the lifeforce of both his mom and his brother.", "It was born an arrogant baby." and such but it really reads at AFO villifying himself to add to his own legend.

That's what babies do. Children, before they're born, kinda have to take their strength from their mother. That's why pregnant people aren't supposed to do anything taxing.

AFO and Yoichi's mother didn't die because baby AFO drained her like a vampire. She died because she was a homeless woman who had access to nothing and had to go in labor alone.

Same thing here: during twin birth, a twin is often bigger than the other (well, probably not to extent of Yoichi and AFO, but you get my point).

Lie number 2: AFO, as a demon baby, is shown killing for no reason, just because he can.

There are two things that are strange in this scene (apart from... you know.... a baby murdering people...)

AFO had no reason to go after them because they don't have any quirks to steal.

It makes no sense for someone to attack a group of people with nothing to gain. I doubt that's the kind of behavior you have when you're in survival mode as you're barely surviving in the street.

However, a previous panel points at some context we might be missing.

The same panel that indicates that those guys don't have a quirk to steal also shows that they are wiling to do some "preventive attack" on a bunch of quirked people who might or might not be those who assaulted a protest group (reminder that in this context, that protest group are protesting the rights for quirked people to exist).

I could be wrong but odds are that they did something to be qualified as a threat to All for One and we are missing the additional context.

Now, the poor souls who just got absolutely wrecked by a toddler wearing what I suspect to be a garbage bag have quirks, which makes more sense than the previous scene.

However (and thank you for @aimportantdragoncollector for pointing that out to me), we also have this panel.)

Yoichi is shown with bruises on his face and might be broken teeth.

Probably because those same people AFO is shown killing attacked him.

Lie number 3: AFO never loved Yoichi because he can't love, he just considered that he was his. That's all. Nothing more.

(Just... Just ignore the rats.)

AFO didn't care about Yoichi so much that the very conscious first act of his life might have been to swim a river upstream while dragging his brother above the surface with what must have been the deathgrip of all deathgrip.

AFO didn't care about his brother so much that Yoichi was fed and clothed by an AFO who was malnourished enough for his ribs to show and who wore what's basically an improvised toga.

But he just keeps sacrificing what little he has for someone he doesn't care about one bit, that's just his first possession. Nothing more.

Okay, I am going to be clear: anyone who sees that panel and thinks that it's the proof AFO didn't like his brother... You just outed yourself as an only child.

Siblings punt each other for no reason. (There is a reason why the first recorded murderer was an older sibling.) In this case, the reason was Yoichi throwing a can at him.

AFO: "You're not inviting me to a fun activity? You're leaving me out, in the cold, unable to partake in brother bonding activity? Oh, vault for Little Brother! Vault for Little Brother for one thousand years!"

AFO: "Nevermind, we're reading together. All is well, I guess."

Lie number 3: AFO killed the glowing baby for power, because he could, or because the Glowing Baby didn't deserve it

Still laughing about AFO's flawless reasoning... "Comic books heroes' life suck. Better to be a villain. I already did the whole struggle thing, I want an easy life."

AFO killed the glowing baby because he was jealous. It's as simple as that. The glowing baby was considered the first official quirked individual (even though it's not true), was protected by his family (if I remember correctly, the mother of quirks was his mom) while AFO and Yoichi had no one but each other (EDIT: I was wrong, the Mother of Quirks was Destro's mother. thanks to the people in the tags), and had a ton of people following him (while, for some strange reason, people start running away screaming when AFO shows his quirk... What a mystery...).

The last panel was basically AFO saying "I want to be loved' but not having the frame of reference to even know what love is.

In conclusion...

While AFO is definitely a bad guy and a monster, he didn't begin his existence as one. He just wants people to believe that. Because his pride and his ego can't allow him to admit that he lived a childhood full of horrible trauma where he was a victim abandoned by society (to an even greater extent than the LOV) or he would probably combust out of rage and mortification.

Ergo facto, AFO is a lying liar who lies, especially to himself.

However, the chiming of the door grants you an out. You perk up when you see it’s Jay, the delivery guy who runs most of your business packages. “Hey, you,” you greet him halfway.

Jay’s grin is bright as he enters with a pep in his step and insists on carrying the boxes to the counter for you when you reach for them. “Special delivery for my favorite flower lady. Now you’re all restocked on vases again.”

You sign the digital pad he hands you. “Thank you. I’m glad I have my favorite delivery man to keep them up.”

His happy laughter dies down abruptly while you dot your name, but when you glance up to check on him, you only see Isagi giving an overly friendly smile from behind the counter.

Jay clears his throat, wipes his forehead of the sweat accumulated from his stops, and takes the pad back when you’re done. “Anyways, Dove, I was hoping you’d have any of those lilacs in stock?”

A bowl clatters to the floor, startling you both.

“Sorry,” Isagi says and resumes sweeping.

“Uh, yeah,” you will your attention back to Jay from eyeing Isagi in confusion, “we have a good bit in stock. Did you want a small wrap?”

Jay’s big grin returns. “I’d love that. Even better if you have plum blossoms.”

“We’re fresh out, actually. You’re out of luck.” It’s Isagi who speaks up, setting down the broom and approaching the two of you while behind the counter. “But you know what would go well with those lilacs, Jay? Yellow carnations. They’d be perfect.”

His words mean well, but you can’t help the shiver that runs through you; you have a bundle of plum blossoms in the back to get rid of.

“Really? Oh, thanks, man. Uh, and your name is…?”

“Isagi,” he says easily with another friendly smile. But for as short a time as you’ve been around him, his friendliness appears rather forced.

“Right.” Jay’s eyes flit to you and back. “It’s nice to meet you. Have you been here long?”

You decide to fly under the radar and get to work on the wrap of flowers while they talk, but you overhear how awkward Jay is with Isagi. Lacing some yellow carnations around five bundled lilacs, you wrap them in the simple brown paper and tie it all together with a yellow ribbon.

Both pairs of eyes instantly land on you when you re-enter the showroom, one saying “help me” while you’d rather not interpret the other.

“Is this enough, Jay?” You break the silence.

Jay’s smile doesn’t shine as brightly as before, but he accepts the flowers gratefully. “They’re perfect. Thanks, Dove. I’ll catch you next order, yeah?”

You nod and see him off.

Isagi’s face is scrunched up in mild disgruntlement when you come back inside, and you can’t help but laugh. “What’s that look for?”

“Are you two close?” He turns around as he says it, seemingly to occupy himself, but you can practically see his pout through his words.

“With Jay? Not really,” you say honestly and join him in fiddling with what’s been organized five times over by now. “Why do you ask?”

Isagi stiffens for a moment as if caught with his hand in the cookie jar. “You just… seem that way, I guess. You don’t really talk to everyone like that.”

You hum. “Like what?”

He looks aside to you. “Like happy. Really happy. Like… tulip happy.”

Ah. That reminds you, but you bite your tongue on the matter of Jay existing during the before in your life.

“Isagi…” You sigh and absentmindedly place a hand on his arm. “I’m sorry about last night. Being under the influence is no excuse—as your boss, I—” You look up at him and lose your words along the way; he’s looking at your hand on him, and his face is red. He quickly looks the other way to cover his face.

Assuming you really had gone too far, you continue, “If you felt pressured, I understand if you’d like to quit.”

Isagi gasps lightly and whips his head back around. “No, no—! That’s furthest from what I—I didn’t feel pressured at all, Ms. Sato. You didn’t do anything to make me…” he trails off and takes a centering breath to say more confidently, “I don’t want to leave you.”

Another chiming makes you jump away from him.

Mr. Kaji hobbles through the door with a hunch to his back, his cane in hand. “Well, good afternoon, Ms. Sato. It’s been so long, I don’t recognize the new face you have here.”

"And here you are," you say as you hand a large handful of wrapped roses to the elderly man. "I wish you and your wife a happy anniversary." You give him a parting smile that holds your condolences.

"Thank you... Oh, she'll love them. She always loved roses the most. Have a good day, Ms. Sato. And you too, young man. I hope to see you both again next year."

An ache wraps its fingers tenderly around your heart and squeezes as you watch the man leave to spend time with his late wife at her up-kept stele, which he's told you much about over the years he’s been coming to your shop. He had the edges engraved with roses to remind her, even in death, how much he loved her. There was a time when you believed your marriage would end much the same. But you're both very much alive after the end, with nothing to show for it but distance.

Maintaining that distance has done the good of keeping your peace as long as you don’t turn on the television. There are always headlines of that name you wish would vanish already. Even in strangers, his aftertaste is hard to shake, like a snake that doesn’t know how to let go once it’s coiled; he always knew how to stop someone from moving forward.

The simplicity you’ve garnered was hard-won, so you guard it. Your little shop and little life only need so many hands, but lately, your peace has woven into something knotted and all by your own making. The memories of last night’s dream resurface to remind you of this.

You rub at the drumming that starts in your temples.

A soft touch to the hand laden on the counter draws you back into the present. Your gaze drops down to see Isagi’s pinkie finger laced over yours.

After everything that’s happened, you admit it to yourself. Isagi Yoichi is attractive.

It's not that you see him as a kid. He is most definitely a man, young as he is. But the reality of him, the amount of space he takes up, and his determination to stick around are slowly chiseling away at your resolve. You’re honestly tired of having to fight at all.

His presence is oddly soft as he steps close enough to bump hips. His voice is just as soft. “He really loves his wife.” He turns to face you squarely, leaning a hip against the counter, and covers his hand over yours.

“He does.” You nod, refusing to look up at him, not after how last night went, so you watch his hand and the dips between his knuckles, how easily it is for his hand to envelope yours. The memory of this hand on your cheek during your shared kiss raises warmth to your face.

“I…” Isagi takes a moment. “I meant what I said, Ms. Sato. I don’t want to leave. Actually…” He leans down to rest his forehead on your shoulder. A surrender. “I want to continue where we left off.”

When he offers himself so easily on a silver platter like this… what do you do? The metaphorical road forks in two ahead yet again.

PART 2, AFO FINDS YOU AND MANIPULATES YOU.. MEETING THE LEAGUE.

Walking through the cold and dark halls of the lab you spent the most of your life in you tan your fingers across the walls, haunting you with the good and bad memories.

The only things good being the two friends you ever had, the two people who only ever made you feel human. ‘Sonic’ and Yoishi.

‘Sonic’ was forcefully sent for ‘scientific purposes’ by his family a little later on in life, once they’d found out about his ability of speed. Therefore when he was given his name, he decided that was all he went by.

If you were sent a little later one, same as sonic things might’ve been different for you, except it was all you’d ever known. Enough power to destroy the world. Enough power to make you a weapon. But so much, people would’ve been afraid if they knew about you, so instead you were locked away like an animal. But it’s not like you’d known any different, no previous family, or home..

Yoishi and was the only one between him and his brother who made any effort to create a bond between the three of you, making sure you were okay even in your circumstances.

Every step you took reigniting a memory.

One of them being when you were 9 and sonic was 10. It was his second year on the facility. And you finally had a friend, someone like you.

“Catch me if you can softy shadoooow.” he grinned, running in front of you as you air glided centimetres behind him.

“Im closer than you’d think blue blurr!” You shouted, not knowing you both were about to miss a corner and run right into the wall..

The memory made you slightly crack a smile, looking through one of the windows, seeing one of the tables you were sat on, wires attatched to your head, yoichi had just snuck in and made up an excuse about the doctor needing you, ripping off the wires and taking you out to eat the food left for the scientists.

Finding one of the main rooms you stood in front of yours and sonics glass chambers..

“Ah, the ultimate life form. I’ve waited for you my dear.” A voice spoke from behind you, almost slyly.

You blipped in front of the man, he had an unrecognisable face, just a mask connected with a multitude of tubes.

“Who are you.” You demanded more than asked, narrowing your eyes instinctively,

“Oh you don’t remember me Shadow? Or can I call you y/n? ..you’ve been asleep for too long y/n. And I’ve waited for you this whole time.” He replied smoothly taking a step closer to you.

“Doesn’t answer my question. Who are you and what do you want.” You don’t let down your defensive and cold manner. Yet there was something familiar about him.

“Well now I go by all for one. But you knew me before as Shigaraki. My brother was ..fond of you and the speedy little one..” his tone darkened.

“Yoichi? Where is he?!?” You asked, a glimpse of hope flickering, only to be blown out by ‘all for one’s’ next response.

“He died. During the cross fire that very night sonic died too. They took everything from you, from. us.” He lied, manipulated. He killed his brother, of course you never knew that, hearing that yoichi died the same way sonic did itched something in your brain, built up the chaos energy inside you. From working there, he understood your quirk, he knew how powerful it was. The stronger you were, the more afraid people would be of him.

“I’m offering you a chance for revenge? For what they took from us. These heroes aren’t trusted. They’re just the same as the people that took yoichi and sonic away from you. They either just want to use you or dispose of you.” He realised he’d now caught your attention.

“What do you want me to do..?” you asked fiercely, feeling the chaos swirling inside of you.

“Join me.” He lent a hand out to you, once he felt your hand reach out to his he realised he’d successfully caught his prey, just as the cunning predator would.

After weeks of being with AFO, thinking you were there for good, he introduced you to “ the league ” since he wouldn’t always be able to accompany you.

After his entrance and beginning introduction, he left with “she is Shadow.” Everyone had their own questions, like

“Why do you have rings on? Or are they bracelets? Either way they’re super cute!!” A girl with blonde hair in space buns, who you later learnt to be toga, complimented.

Or

“Who does your hair? It’s magnificent” a man with a top hat with a yellow feather and a white and black mask asked juggling marbles, you later found to be mr compress.

But finally someone who was more serious.

“So what’s your story ..why are you so dark? Hm?” A tall guy with black spiky hair and purple patches on his body asked you, putting out a cigarette on the wall and sitting on a stool with you while kurogiri made you something to drink.

“I was tested on for years. One day my powers caused an explosion in the lab. People died so they killed the closest people to me and froze me for 50 years.” You eyes low, your voice intense.

“Wait your like 50?” Toga asked, jumping to sit by you.

“No. I’m 16. Like I said, I was frozen in time and space, so I didn’t age at all.” You explained to her.

“Your like a walking time capsule then huh? What was it like 50 years ago?” She grabbed your hands and began squeezing.

“I don’t know, I was stuck in a lab. Didn’t really have much time to sight see.” You brood.

“Your funny I like you. Your so pouty.” She twirled one of the red pieces of your y/h/l, y/h/t hair.

“Ignore her.” ‘Dabi’ raised a glass to his mouth.

“But I get it, the whole lab rat thing. I had a similar situation.” He raised his brows, and looked down at you knowingly. It was almost comforting.

Maybe it wasn’t gonna be so bad after all.

Back at UA, none of the pros could find any background about you, but izuku, being one of the wielders of ofa, and being able to speak to yoishi, even briefly, was able to find out about her, it was little but at this point anything helps.

The pros, working with police and being able to check every camera in the city found footage of you being led by afo and thought it was kidnapping. Now they buckled down even harder to save you.

It had only been two weeks, but they knew enough from izuku, and eventually to understand the fully situation principal nezu met with the colonel and got their side of the story.

Bakugo couldn’t stop thinking of you. The thought of someone being stronger, faster. So mysterious and even ..beautiful. He’d never thought about any girl this way before. It even angered himself when he did because the thought of you was uncontrollable, yet you’d only met once.

But little did they know, they’d see you sooner than they thought. Because the league was planning to attack the USJ..

Ultra Age bits: the OFA owners

So I'm going to try and look in deep at the various bits of the fanbook, at least those that look potentially interesting to see if there's something new and comment on my finding or lack thereof. Beware, my comments might not be positive.

The second thing I tried to look at is the description for the OFA owners to see if they can offer some more informations on the so called 'dark age' or 'dawn of the paranormal'.

This part is much better than the timeline as it gives us some new info... but without really giving us a timeline. We don't know for how long each successor kept OFA and we've no idea how Yoichi figured out he could pass his Quirk to Kudō. I genuinely think it would have been better to include their story in the timeline but somehow it was decided otherwise. As this was more interesting I smoothed a bit the google translation but I didn't really devoted to it too much.

On the other side this shows again an example of favouring Hero work over your own kid in fact it explains that Nana's husband was in the anti AFO's organization and when he died, instead of worrying about how his newborn son remained fatherless, asked Nana to support the organization even though this would mean paint a target on her back and risk leaving their son motherless too. Nana accepts to follow his last wishes and, by total accident, and up inheriting OFA, which leads her to the decision to part ways with Kotarou. This bit don't tell us if Nana has a Hero name, let's assume it matched with her own name otherwise she would be using her Quirk illegally.

It also explains why she passed her Quirk to Yagi even though she wasn't dying or was seriously wounded, it was because she somehow believed he could complete OFA, why Yagi would be able to do so instead than her who could have kept on training like Shinomori did is left unexplained. I surely hope it wasn't because Yagi is a boy while she's a girl. Whatever anyway here it is.

Successors of One for All

Introducing the successors who have entrusted their power and hope to shatter All for One’s ambition

First owner: Shigaraki Yoichi

AFO’s younger brother. OFA was born when Yoichi’s original Quirk and the “one for All stock power forcibily given to him by AFO mixed together. In order to stop his brother from making mistakes he entrusted his Quirk to his Hero, Kudō, who saved him.

Second owner: Kudō Toshitsugu

The man who stood up against the exploiting AFO. Those who shared his drive and determination gathered around Kudō and formed an anti-AFO organization. The "man of the beginning" who reached out to Yoichi.

Third owner: Bruce Lee

Originally a researcher, he uncovered Yoichi’s Quirk together with Kudō. When their organization is defeated by AFO, and he realized that the age of darkness is coming, he came to the realization that Yoichi’s Quirk “would only shine in a long term perspective” and with a prayer and irony he called it “One for All”. During the years in which he was on the run, he heard rumors about Shinomori and entrusted OFA to him. Afterward in order to get as far from AFO as possible he crossed the sea with the few surviving members and died in his hometown. At this time OFA’s power was still small, and he had no way of knowing that the power that was still brimming with him as he went to his death was just an ember.

Forth owner: Shinomori Hikage

Due to the nature of his Quirk he became tired of the mundane world and became an hermit, living with the nature. He accepted OFA without questions and searched for the next successor. Without ever being found by AFO he significantly developed OFA through 18 years of training.

Fifth owner: Banjō Daigorō

A man who continued to face AFO even as those who challenged AFO disappeared. The records and memories of the former anti-AFO group were all buried in the darkness and their will was never passed over, but his code name “Lariat” secretly encouraged those who were smoldering all over the country. When Shinomori realized that he was near death, he contacted Banjō as someone worthy of being entrusted OFA as the next owner and told him of the story of OFA and its origin. At this time it was said that if he hadn’t train properly his body may not have managed to withstand OFA. However with this transfer AFO rediscovered OFA. As Banjō began to cultivate his power he realized that AFO had never paid any attention to him until then.

Sixth owner: Tayutai En

A boy who was inspired by “Lariat” and through him found the meaning of his life. He chases after Banjō, but Banjō, who had heard about 0FA from the Fourth Generation, continues to poke fun at En in order to avoid any further incidents that may occur to those around him. During a battle in which Banjō’s defeat was imminent, AFO and Banjō talk for the first time, and En learns about the existence and the inheritance of 0FA. Then, as Banjō dies, 0FA is entrusted to him along with the words "Run away and pass it to the next one". He is exhausted by years of fighting, fleeing alone, accumulating strength, and fighting, but someone finds him due to the relentless movements of AF0. The passion left by "Lariat" helps him, and a team of several dozen people is formed. Among them are Gran Torino and Shimura's husband. And when her husband is killed in battle, Shimura Nana learns that her friends and husband have been fighting a great evil in secret to protect the her future and the one of her newborn son.

Seventh owner: Shimura Nana

AFO doesn’t tolerate the unity that was present in the rival organization of the past and pursues the team with ferocious forces. Shimura, who supported the team in accordance with her husband’s last wishes, was the person closest to the sixth owner when he was fatally wounded and inherited OFA. After passing it to her the sixth twisted his body which should not have been able to move after having been torn apart and created an enormous smoke screen to allow Shimura to escape, then Shimura separated from her son. By that time OFA has become a powerful force and the pain that she felt when she inherited it as well as the words she heard from the sixth about how her body might crack made her think about the “capacity of a vessel”. On the other hand she also noticed from the sith’s brutal end that he only had the embers. As she remained the only surviving member along with Gran Torino, she fought painfully aware that they were still one step away from AFO and was touched by the boundless vitality and pure will of a bosy she met by chance. She had a strong feeling that he would be the one to complete OFA. After that she protected and trained her disciple while deceiving AFO with the embers. However she was finally cornered and so she challenged AFO alone to allow her disciple to escape but she’s defeated.

Eighth owner: Yagi Toshinori

Although society appears to have settled a dark world is spreading behind it. He learns from the death of his parents that peace has not come but that no one is resisting. Immediately after graduating at U.A. high he is forced to flee to America where he devotes himself to training as a warrior. AFO cannot afford to loosen his grip on Japan and tries capturing hi alive using his local subordinate but he’s defeated every time. For the first time, he feels threatened by Yagi’s extraordinary power and prepares to intercept him. However Yagi who has returned with his power cultivated, far exceed AFO’s expectations, and he whittles down AFO’s force with a storming rage, finally destroying AFO.

"I told you, I didn't know she was twenty at the time!" Banjo protested. "And stop calling me cringe!"

"Deku?" Uraraka asked worriedly. "You okay?"

"You've just been sitting there, not blinking, for forty seconds." Jirou supplied.

"Oh, sorry." Midoriya blinked, making one extra hard to get feeling back into his eyes. "Hey, quick question, how moral is it to date the older brother of your boyfriend so the ghost possessing you stops thirstposting about him?"

"Izuku-kun, please stop trying to re-enact the fanfiction where you were sold to Tensei's hero agency." Iida frowned.

"I'm sorry, back up." Shinsou looked more frazzled than ever. "You're possessed?"

Yoichi Isagi - he’s a blushing mess when you turn up at his match wearing his away shirt. Gets teased relentlessly by the team and turns into a teenage girl “stoppp it guysss”. Will hide his face but he can’t help but sneak glances at you during the match.

Rensuke Kunigami - he’s not surprised to see you in his kit since he had left you no choice but to wear it. He slowly started to hide all your tops until you had nothing to wear except his conveniently placed football shirt in your wardrobe. Will definitely be pulling this move again.

Jingo Raichi - at first he’s in awe and once that dies down, he’s showing you off to anyone who he runs into. But will ultimately double down and freak out at people when they actually look at you because he’s possessive as fuck.

Meguru Bachira - he loves it and compliments you every second he gets, leaving your face to cosplay a tomato. Will continuously ask you to wear it so he can gush over you. Secretly takes a shit ton of photos the first time you wear it, he wants to cherish this moment forever.

Shoei Barou - every top player needs a cheerleader partner on the side. That’s where you come in. You are his motivation to do his best he can’t be losing especially when you’re watching him with his shirt on, declaring to the world you’re his. Will tackle you in a hug after the match.

Seishiro Nagi - he demands you wear his shirt but not for the obvious reason. He just wants you to wear it and take it home so you can wash it for him to wear at his next match. It works for the first few times but you soon catch onto his sneaky tactics and you steal his other shirt instead.

Reo Mikage - takes even more pictures than bachira but instead of gushing he acts nonchalantly. As if he couldn’t fathom why it’s a big deal but then secretly freaks out in his room while looking through the pictures. He’s embarrassed that he is acting like a fan girl but can’t help it you look so cute.

Hyoma Chigiri - he notices you with his shirt on but pretends not to, just so you can come over to him and show off your outfit first. He feigns shock and awe at you and that’s all you’re getting if you’re in public. Alone it’s different, he will cling to you like his life depends on it.

Rin Itoshi - low-key love loves it but will not admit it. No matter how much you tease him and try and get him to crack, he will not budge. Now that you challenged him he simply can not and will not lose his composure. It turns into a game that will forever go on because rin does not like to lose. Ever.

Sae Itoshi - from day one, he had given you an old football shirt of his so it’s nothing new for him to see you in it. That doesn’t mean he won’t brag about it still. You’re always on his insta story and lives wearing it so the crazy fans know he’s taken and by who.

Explain the Timeline

So my Hero academia. You know where 2 century ago Quirks Emerged and quickly became a dominant trait in human society. And I started thinking. How long did each holder of one for all hold onto the Quirk.

I started doing some calculations and we were short.

Like half a century Short. About 50 years unaccounted for.

Explain your calculations.

Let's gather what we know in approximately the order it's revealed in.

A baby of light was born 200 years ago

One for All is Yagi Toshinori's (All Might) Quirk there are Seven people before him that have held it.

Midoriya Izuku is the Ninth.

It has Stockpiled so much energy that one's body must be trained to hold it.

Yagi Toshinori has been an active hero in Japan for over 15 years (middle school midoriya) as The All Might's Japan debut was already Old News when Izuku was rewatching it.

Yuui Academia (UA ) is Toshinori's highschool. Also worked in American.

Yagi Toshinori master died in combat.

All for one is as old as the dawn of Quirks (aka 200)

Yoichi All for One's brother is that age. Thus the QUIRK is that age

Yagi Toshinori has been Number one almost his whole Japan career. He is close to 50 Years old

Shinomori Hikage died of old age at 40 he received it when he was 22. Cultivating it for 18 years. Having it for the longest time. Before All Might

All other users died before then.

Shimura Nana met yagi Toshinori while he was in Middle School.

Yoichi was rescued by Kudo and Bruce from a Vault.

Yoichi died by All for one's hand while fleeing with Kudo and Bruce.

Kudo was Targeted with the belief that Kudo Killed Yoichi.

Now we have some information let's do some math. There is some Head canon in here.

Let's say Yoichi died when he was 35

Kudo received noticing a small power holding onto it for close to 10 years as he's a wanted man.

Kudo and Bruce experimented with OFA during the time. Thus the time frame where he then Dies fighting AFO. The Hot potato has been passed.

Bruce figures he is probably also wanted so giving him 10 years is Generous

He finds and teaches Hikage about the Quirk before passing it and facing AFO.

Hikage held onto it for 18 years. He started to rapidly age gifting the Quirk to Banjo.

Banjo becomes or is a Hero he can hold his own so 15 years picking up the wet cat that was En training and giving the quirk to him before cracking the foundation that was AFO's power.

En holds onto it for 10 years as AFO knows the holder. Hero society has a foundation and is gaining traction.

Nana is selected. gaining a husband and kid while holding OFA . She meets Toshinori(11–15) Training him for the Quirk before her death. About 10 years

Toshinori has it for almost 40 years

Now if you add that all together

35+10+10+18+15+10+10+ 40 =143

That's me being generous and on the reasonable.

So they are either as saying we are in the second century of Quirks coming to being. Or I'm underestimated.

But I figured that I would inform you of what I think is an accurate estimate of how long each holder before Izuku would need to hold OFA for everything to be true

Yoichi is 56 when he dies.

Kudo holds OFA for 16 years

Bruce holds OFA for 16 years

Hikage hold OFA for 18 years

Banjo holds OFA for 16 years

En hold OFA for 16 years

Nana holds OFA for 16 years

Toshinori holds OFA for 46 years

Voila 200 years.

Yeah it's inaccurate with how the quirk works in the latter years. Another way would be if All for one used a youth quirk on Yoichi not giving him it. But using it on Yoichi. He's obsessed with keeping Yoichi so he could be anywhere between the 35 to 106 years old. It really shows you how much we know about Yoichi and All for One's relationship. And the beginning of the era of Quirks.

Thinking about both of AFO's death scenes (og body and vestige) and my own differing feelings towards them which derives from one important aspect that ultimately makes me prefer one over the other

Yes, both have him admitting his need for Yoichi and have him completely losing his composure at the end, and alone they are good scenes showing him finally getting what he deserves.

The one important difference that changes everything for me is how in the first death he is completely consumed by Tomura's hate while in the second death he is being his true vulnerable self. The baby AFO we see is still being influenced by all of Tomura's own emotions and its messing with his own head. He's more focused on trying to win that we don't get much from him in terms of vulnerability until the last second when he realizes Bakugo is going to keep him from reaching Tomura. Even after that we just get him screaming from the overwhelming amount of hate he feels knowing he is about to be defeated by someone he called an extra. It's poetic that he dies through his own fault (rewinding) and was prevented from killing All Might by someone who he overlooked. While I found these aspects of this death good, I felt it was lacking. I just wanted to have that moment where he genuinely loses while in his right frame of mind. Also I needed a scene where he talks with Yoichi one more time before he dies, that's what I wanted more than anything. Which was why I was hoping so hard that vestige would return soon so we could get it after this chapter dropped.

I don't hate this death scene though I do love is how we see him admit for the first time that without Yoichi all his efforts would be in vain.

Contrary to what many believed initially having Yoichi with him is more important than ruling the world. Ruling the world is his ultimate goal but to him it would be unfulfilling if he has to do it without Yoichi by his side.

The second death scene it's everything I ever wanted when it comes to concluding AFO's character. He's in his right mind, Tomura's hatred is no longer a factor, but he's full of grief because he thought Yoichi was gone forever because of how he shattered after being thrown in Tomura so he's forlorn. But the moment he sees there's a part of Yoichi still left he completely loses his composure. Look at his face when he realizes there's a piece of Yoichi that still exists

His whole appearance instantly changes to how he looked before his injury starts screaming at him to show him his face and to not fade away. Great way to show he's being his true vulnerable self here.

And I love it so much, seeing the man who prides himself in staying in control and calm at all times just making a fool of himself to get his little brother to stay is just *chefs kiss*. He was so smug telling Yoichi that he has to stay with him because he's too weak to ever stand on his own and now here he is finally admitting that he needs Yoichi more than anything.

Honestly, there's something sad in how he doesn't think he's anything of worth without his brother in his life. Truest display of codependency shown in the entire manga and unfortunately for him the feelings aren't reciprocated. Yoichi is trying to gently tell him that's it's over for them, but AFO refuses to accept the reality. He's trying to command the situation by saying he won't allow it but this is a situation where he has no more control. It's time for him to pay the price for all the evil he has brought upon this world.

I like that his death wasn't gentle because I can't ever imagine AFO accepting a peaceful death. Til his final moments he won't let go of control because he still has to cement his legacy as the demon king of this world. His work isn't finished yet. He doesn't want to go until he ensures that he'll never be forgotten. He'll do anything to stay alive, but he's helpless to stop himself from being punched to death. Yoichi couldn't save him, but he displayed a last act of kindness by staying with him and taking the punch as well.

So yeah both deaths are good, but I have more of a preference to the second death than the first one. I only wish the second one was a full chapter instead of sharing it with Tomura's death but alas.

How old is AFO and OFA

[Mile long post incoming]

Long story short this is a theory/headcanon/thought exercise to keep my brain busy while I'm bored at work. I wanted to figure out a more precise estimate for how old All for One is since his birth is essentially the earliest moment of quirk society emerging and so his life spans the entire timeline of this story which I find interesting. And then the whole thing spiraled into a full One for All timeline of headcanons, so enjoy that.

To start though, it would be easy to guess that he's 120-and-some-change because of Garaki. Mic claimed Garaki would be about 120 (and we're just assuming he's exactly right instead of guesstimating for the sake of things) and Garaki confirms that his quirk allows him to live longer than a regular human lifespan, and when they met, All for One was given a copy so he could also live absurdly long. But I want to try a more exact method to ensure that his generations of adversaries could have actually reasonably worked time-wise. So, we can use Garaki's age to check our work but, reasonably, All for One should fall somewhere in the 120-150 range.

Right off the bat, we do have a frustrating lack of information regarding ages and time passing but there are a few things we can establish. Firstly, we know AFO and Yoichi are twins, so when determining age we can start both AFO individually and the OFA users as a collective at the same point. Secondly, Yoichi and AFO are shown to be the first people to have developed a quirk in the way we see in current time. There were vaguely quirk like mutations in people before that (like with their mother) but quirks as we know them are presented to us as originating from these two twins.

I bring this up because while Yoichi, Kudou, and Bruce are all in the same vague realm of "adult" at the same point in time, Yoichi has to be the oldest of the three. Even if it is only by a few years, Yoichi and AFO preceed any characters with a quirk. And while we're on the topic of Kudou and Bruce, we can safely say Kudou is the older one of the duo. He's confirmed to be the head leader of the resistance group against AFO and Bruce is second in command, so, frankly it would just be bizarre if Bruce was older in age but lower in rank. That being said, I don't think their difference in age would be significant.

Exact ages is where things get vague and headcanon-y. There isn't really any hard evidence I can point to other than "that sounds about right" and "I guess they look about that age" in an animation style that is notorious for just slapping a, borderline arbitrary, age on any design regardless of logic. So, rather than trying to justify it too much, my personal choices for their ages are, at Yoichi's time of death, Yoichi is 39, Kudou is 30, and Bruce is 27. At this point in the story AFO has been amassing power and followers for a while now, long enough for a resistance force to rise up against him but not long enough that he's considered it more than a nuisance for other people to handle until now. Late thirties seems pretty reasonable, possibly a bit too young but this man has also been killing people since he was 0.

For Kudou and Bruce I aimed for the older side of military age. Old enough to lead an operation like this but still young enough that AFO's rise to power was during most of their lifetime. Also, there's the issue of the age ceiling. Thanks to Shinomori (who I will get to), users 2 through 7 cannot have lived to be over 40 years old. That is a hard, non-negotiable cap on their ages as the strain of OFA alongside a different biological quirk drastically shortens a person's natural lifespan.

Anyway, back to AFO's age. If Yoichi dies at 39, this would also make him 39 (duh) and given the climate of the world at this point, I think Kudou lasted the shortest with OFA, personally. He receives the quirk immediately upon Yoichi's death after getting his blood in his mouth (Yoichi probably thought of him in his dying moments aww) and likely a week or two later is when Kudou and Bruce find out about it. The chapter frames Kudou finding out Yoichi carried on into him at the same time AFO has the same epiphany so, generously?? I give Kudou a year. Max.

All for One is now filled with seething hatred for Kudou specifically after Yoichi's death, so everything has been put on the back burner so he can both take the quirk from Kudou to get his "possession" back (ew) and to kill Kudou along with everyone he ever knew, loved, spoke to, looked at, or had any genetic lineage with. Even for a guy this powerful that is going to take a bit. A year gives AFO time to find information and strike down the entire resistance and time for Kudou and Bruce to think of a counter strategy and gain an understanding for how OFA works. So, Bruce takes the quirk at 28, Kudou dies at 31, and All for One kills him at 40.

After Kudou's death is a very big blank spot where I need to unfortunately just blindly headcanon again, so bare with me. Kudou and Bruce's plan was for Bruce to take the quirk and slip away from the massacre of the resistance to build OFA stronger and come back to finish the job. I believe that Bruce met Shinomori while he was lying low. Judging by the one image we have of Bruce confronting AFO, he did seemingly attempt to rally people together to defeat him, which would have taken a bit longer than when Kudou was leading an established resistance, since he didn't already have people under him. But he clearly thought to pass the quirk on again as a backup in case he lost, which is why he chose Shinomori to take it. With time needed to plan this attack and also get AFO's sights off him, I'd give it about five years between AFO's fight with Kudou and his fight with Bruce. It's estabished that Shinomori takes the quirk at 22 so, Bruce dies at 33, and All for One kills him at 45.

Shinomori is actually a very clear-cut piece of the timeline. He takes the quirk at 22 and dies at 40, having passed the quirk to the next user shortly before that because he realized his health was rapidly declining. He keeps the quirk for a total of 18 years, making All for One 63 at the time of his death. Judging by how the flashback panels are structured, AFO has received Garaki's quirk by this point.

Also, we have reached the point where every following user of OFA has been a professional hero, so I think it's safe to assume that each link in the chain met through either being colleagues or possibly through a sidekick internship. I doubt All Might was the first one to think of scouting hero students for successors. I'm going to assume that users 5, 6, and 7 were somewhere in the 16-24 range when they received the quirk for that very reason.

Moving on though, Banjo is the next user. I do think Banjo knew Shinomori for a somewhat significant time before his death. Banjo clearly knows about Shinomori's reclusive nature in some level of detail based on how they interact as vestiges and while it is possible for the already deceased OFA users to peer into the thoughts and memories of the current user, it doesn't appear to be the same retroactively, unless it's something the vestiges want to show the current user. All this to say I came to conclusion that Banjo was already likely a pro hero when he recieved the quirk from Shinomori. Shinomori realized what was happening and reached out to one of the few trusted friends he had to carry on the burden because he knew he could handle it. So I'm going to peg Banjo at being about 22 when he took the power as well. Old enough to be experienced as a pro with enough time to have actually met Shinomori before he died. Just like all the others, Banjo died to All for One after being trapped under rubble and gave the power to En just before he croaked. Given his bordering-on-middle-aged appearance, I'm going to put forward Banjo dying at 37 and All for One killing him at 78.

En also has very little information on him but since we only have speculation to work with, might as well stop apologizing for it. En appears to be significantly younger than Banjo, so I suspect he was an internship student to Banjo while he was a pro. Putting En at 17 when he recieved the power is both enough time for them to meet and get to know each other with En having to take the mantle from him sooner than either of them anticipated. En's appearance is still quite young, but he was confirmed to be a pro hero for a time, so he didn't have as short a run as Kudou. Nana was also already some level of hero (whether student or pro is unclear) at the time she recieved the power. Rather than mentor and student I believe they were fledgling colleagues, since Gran Torino fills the role as Nana's older pro mentor. All of this makes me vaguely place En dying at 25 and All for One killing him at 86.

I already mentioned Nana potentially being colleagues with En as their way of meeting. I still think she may have been younger than him at the time but not significantly so. En is another user that is shown passing on the power while at death's door and the following panel that shows Nana accepting it doesn't make her look significantly younger than how she does in any given scene in the series. So I don't think she was a child when she took the quirk but I'm going to set my guess at 20. But! While Nana is another character without a listed age, surprisingly, we can figure it out a good guess with actual evidence this time. Her son Kotaro, grandson Tomura, and pupil All Might all have stated, confirmed ages that we can use to make a feasible timeline for Nana.

Currently, All Might is 57 and Tomura is 21, meaning All Might was 36 when Tomura was born. Kotaro was killed at 32, when Tomura was 5, making him 27 when Yagi was 36. Nana died when All Might was in his last year at UA, making him 18, meaning Kotaro was 9 at the time. Nana gave All Might OFA when he was in middle school, judging by his uniform, so we'll assume he was 14 and Kotaro was 5. When Nana and All Might first meet, Nana states that her family is all dead, in a cold and distant manner. But that wouldn't be true if Kotaro was still in her life. This would mean that she met Yagi after the death of her husband and after Kotaro was sent away. And I'd wager to bet it was very soon after. Assuming Nana gave birth to Kotaro at around 25 years old (perfectly reasonable) then she would have passed the quirk to All Might at 30 and died at 34 after having the quirk for 14 years, making All for One 100 at the time of the transfer. Gran Torino also states that AFO is over 100 at the time Nana died, which makes this whole thing perfectly plausible.

From here things get a lot less speculative. All Might is listed as 55 at the beginning of the manga, adding on Izuku's last year of middle school and first year of high school puts him at 57. We already established he received the quirk at 14, meaning he held the power for 42 years + 1 year quirkless before All for One was finally killed at the grand age of 143. Which would mean that quirks have existed for just shy of one and a half centuries now and we fit comfortably inside our estimate goal!

“yeah yeah sorry my bad” you said putting it down resting your chin upon your palm.

you payed no attention to the food in front of you, well aware of that fact that meguru was stealing some for himself.

you couldn’t care less, instead you stared at nothing in particular, letting out a long dreamy sigh.

yoichi raised his brow at you.

“let me guess, you’re still thinking about that one guy you met earlier” he said in an unimpressed tone.

“obviously!! he’s probably somewhere in this cafeteria right now!” you said gushing.

rin next to you ate his food silently, he hadn’t said a word since you all started eating.

“rin, you’ll help me look for him.” you said as more of a demand than an question.

“no i won’t?” he said confusedly turning to face you.

“oh yes you will, and then you’re coming to chess club with me!” you ordered and he groaned and rolled his eyes.

they carried on eating and you tapped your foot impatiently waiting for them to finish.

“hurry up with your food guys! we need to go find hi-”

“WHICH ONE OF YOU IS (Y/N)?!” a voice boomed through the whole cafeteria.

you turned around to face the entrance which was a few tables away from you. there stood a tanned boy with spiky blonde hair with pink tips at the end. he had a bump on his forehead that was noticeable even from a far and he looked absolutely feral.

you slowly turned back around again to face the table.

“that’s shidou isn’t it?” you whispered quietly not daring to turn round and take a second look.

the three boys simply nodded

just keep calm (y/n)! there’s no way he knows what you look like

you tried to tell yourself but you were panicking on the outside.

keeping your head low, you pretended to eat you food as you heard his footsteps stomping around looking for ‘(y/n)’. the footsteps gradually got louder seemed to be approaching your table.

for some odd reason they stopped right behind your chair.

you turned around and surely enough there he was, looking as if he was ready to end you there and then.

you gulped before smiling nervously.

“hey… what’s up?” you said trying to play it cool.

he didn’t say anything. he raised his hand and attempted to hit you but you had ducked just in time.

“hey!! why're you trying to hit me??” you yelled confusedly.

“because, (y/n), this bump on my forehead is all your fucking fault.” he said pointing to the redness on his head. you honestly thought it was from all the anger.

how does he know im (y/n)??!!

“huh? who’s (y/n) hahaha…” you chuckled nervously looking away.

he pointed to your blazer. “there’s a name tag on the back of your blazer.”

shit.

he started cracking his knuckles and winding up his arm ready to do some proper damage before someone else came from behind.

“shidou, stop causing trouble.” the low and lazy voice spoke up.

you edged your head past shidou to see who had spoken and gasped quietly.

it was him.

shidou growled and shoved his hands in his pockets. surprisingly though, he didn’t bother you any longer and trudged off mumbling some incoherent things.

the guy whom you had bumped into earlier, aka the love of your life.

his piercing eyes scanned over everyone at your lunch table, stopping a second longer on rin before looking at you.

you could’ve sworn you nearly peed your pants there and then as you heart started to beat faster. soon enough he turned around and went the same was as shidou.

you let out a sigh of relief and placed your hand on your chest.

“(y/n)? why are you blushing? you literally almost died.” yoichi asked perplexed at your facial expression.

“that was him! he’s the guy i was telling you about!” you said excitedly.

“who? shidou?” meguru guessed.

“no! the guy behind him!” you said and suddenly all three of them immediately went quiet.

you eyed them all weirdly, wondering what the shift of behaviour was about. the atmosphere was tense and you didn’t feel like you could say anything.

rin, surprisingly, was the first to say something.

“you seriously like him?” he asked, and was it just you or did he sound… mad?

“yeah he’s the guy im sure! is something wrong?” you questioned growing a bit worried.

rin shook his head and hesitated before speaking up again.

“that guy… he’s my brother.”
