Mingi — he’s more than likely getting a lot of gifts from fans, some being weirdly expensive for a stranger. If you give something, even if it’s a little box of chocolate, he’s fucking you for a few days straight.

Yubin — if it’s chocolate he won’t like it, he doesn’t like chocolate, but he’d eat it anyway because it’s from you. Anything else he’ll ziplock it so it stays safe

Vincent — he’ll find it cute, but that’s about it, he’s not into receiving things, or he’s just not used to it (plot that will be explored lol)

Noeul — he’s going to be giddy and so happy, he’ll immediately post about it on his Instagram and then quickly give you his gift, because obviously he got you something too

Yuki — he’ll be a bit unfazed, he gets a lot of stuff like Mingi so he’ll prefer just spending time with you, no need for a gift

Yohan — he’ll act nonchalant in person but as soon as you leave he’s kicking his feet like a kid as he takes multiple pictures of the gift to remember it

I had to write this down so it would stop being inside of my brain--devil judge stupidity

I have a clinical dx that proves I lack the emotional self regulation to stop myself from doing stupid things and I just really really want to write something funny okay!!!! No clue if this is going anywhere. I have approx 100 ideas right now and can't be held responsible for my actions.

Actually, the whole thing is Elijah's fault, because if she exercised any of the restraint she used on the Korean-speaking internet for her English language shitposting accounts, they wouldn't be in this mess at all.

That said, she'll argue to the death that if her shitty uncle is going to subject her to his sweaty, old man chest and walk around the house after one of his workouts dripping sweat with his workout pants half-hanging off of his ass, she's going to shame him like truth coming out of her Instagram.

Unfortunately, the general reaction to her caption ("god my uncle is so gross") turns out to be a tsunami of absolutely unhinged horny commentary from a community she'd previously believed to be upright, clear-minded young women with promising careers in STEM. There's a run on eggplant emojis. There are so many eyeballs. Prayer hands left and right. People are calling Yohan "daddy" in sixteen languages.

It's funny in an absolutely repulsive way, and here, even Elijah has to admit to culpability, because in retrospect, when someone had commented, "so can your auntie fight?" she absolutely should not have posted a picture of Gaon from his army service, sun bronzed with his arms out, and said, "lol yeah."

Yohan works approximately 18 hours a day with breaks for the gym, to psychologically torture her over dinner, and an hour where Elijah puts on her noise canceling headphones and assiduously does not listen to whatever the fuck is happening down the hall in his bedroom. But he's also the nosiest, most intrusive person on the face of the earth with a squadron of terminally online assistants so it's only a matter of time before he's going to find out he's now internet famous and that there's an AO3 tag for "hot uncle/soldier boy (not The Boys)" and destroys all of her electronic equipment.

Gaon, who hasn't logged into social media in like three years, could feasibly go to his grave not knowing--except that he works in the juvenile court system which means she's not totally surprised when he comes home on Tuesday with a weird look on his face and says:

"Elijah, I think we've been hacked," he says, because he's a genuinely nice person who must have committed some kind of heinous crime in a past life to attract Kangs left and right. "I think someone got into our phones, or our wifi. One of my clients showed me a post today that looks like someone stole a CCTV picture of Yohan, and then posted some old picture from when I was in the army."

Elijah is listening with an active grimace on her face, trying to decide what to say and how to say it, when the SmartHome speaker crackles to life and Yohan's voice echoes out of it, saying:

"Kang Elijah, did you out Gaon and I with your fake instagram."

aesthetics matter, unless you're a meliora member of course, just kidding.. mostly. i guess it all depends on what you deem an 'aesthetically pleasing' instagram, but nonetheless, they're all a perfect demonstration of each members' personality

﹫ KACHIAT : it's clear what this man prioritizes, his dog, his members, and his abundant collection of silver jewelry. for a guy who documents everything on video, he isn't even in the top three of members who post the most. every few months he crawls out of his void to surprise everybody with a shot of his face close up, he's really trying to sell the barista bit, who knows? maybe he's getting fired soon.

﹫ HANKKIZ : a raging hypocrite that's what he is, he's chained to that phone, chained to that instagram app because he knows people go crazy and begin cheering whenever they get those notifications. compared to the other members (i guess you could probably eliminate hajoon), his page appears to be themed enough. it's a consistent feed of himself, friends, the members, and his cat. hot people turn notifications on yohan's posts.

﹫ _EUNJUNS : genuinely where the fuck is he!?!??? #junmincomebacktoinstagram. in contrast to the prior member, junmin pretty much avoids instagram like the plague, and when he does decide to show up, it's barely a photo of him alone. the members are the main characters of his own feed, you could probably find any cute meliora photo on junmin's instagram. he hasn't posted in a good ten months though, it might all be over..

﹫ JUNHAYZ_ : do half the people who follow him know who he is? no, but they can all agree on one thing, he's hot as shit, this man has a face for the ages. also an insanely consistent poster, putting that photography hobby to good use. his captions are these long poems about certain flowers, and whenever he posts the members he always has to detail his appreciation for them in these essays. he's a hot guy with a big heart!

﹫ KAHNLI : kyuhyun is a man who loves his girlfriend, like a lot, he's crazy in love it may be insane, kiarra rules over his posts and it's as disgusting as it is adorable. he posts too much, and when he doesn't, that's cause for concern. if his feed isn't full of photos of his girlfriend (kiarra), then it's full of photos of his boyfriend (haneul). new post everyday, follow him and you're fed.

﹫ _KKULJINZ : hwan is a very simple man who posts what he likes, cookies, dahlia's, his iced coffee addiction, his charm bracelet creations. his instagram account is basically a peer into his mind, you could figure out stuff about him from just reading a post. he puts the aesthetic in more of videos, he has that nice smooth voice that probably puts him in the league of an asmr-er (is that what they're called?)

﹫ HANOTWO : he is also a very simple man, except he enjoys adding on photos he took of the members when they were glaring at him. he really does admire them a lot, and he exercises that admiration by snapping an unknowing photo as a taunting device. no matter what, this man is always outside, the opposite of a homebody for real.

﹫ YOIKITM : listen, he's a sanrio guy through and through, got an army of pochacco plushies and everything. it's nothing short of confusing, if it's not him then it's one of the other members and if it's not them then it's a my melody mugshot photo that he has saved to his phone forever. of course there's a taro pic thrown in there for good measure, that's his son.

﹫ YAEZKANG : he has full management over his account clearly, because he can't resist posting about gay garfield shirts to elevate his mood. the pingu pfp was an artistic choice, he carries love for childhood shows wherever he goes. don't question the mothman post, he won't give a correct answer, it'll be a different answer each time. if he isn't posting himself or the newest cryptid meme, then he's posting hajoon, his first ever man crush.

﹫ THESTARAE : a star lover through and through, his icon just happens to be the picture of his favorite constellation, auriga. it can really all amount to anything, photos of waffles, z, an exo album, that rilakkuma plushie yohan got him for his birthday, all of it is cute. he's actually pretty consistent, if you count stars in the sky as consistent instagram posting.

﹫ KUMOSIM : this man loves clouds, he could cloud watch to death, but not before his clogging his feed with photos of kristian to spike his growth. ignoring the cute strapped hello kitty his page so beautifully displays, it's all pretty normal, the regular photos of himself paired with features of his bffs and his big brothers (i.e hajoon & z).

﹫ .KHRASN : he's obsessed with two things, himself, and his babies (the cats), oh and taro too. jaehwan always glares when he takes out that phone, which does not end up working in his favor unfortunately. there really isn't much of a sense of class, but at least his humor remains, if he isn't arguing with jaehwan in replies for hours, then he's criticizing the people in his comments for crying over boys, it's such a waste of time!

﹫ YOIRO.COM : that miku ramen photo was completely necessary, he has a very healthy obsession. no it might not be very pleasing for the eyes, but it's a beautiful encapsulation of.. his head, it doesn't consistently stay on one topic, it's always going back and forth. he misses nanami, but he also thinks he's spiderman, but he also stole jian's sunglasses and thinks he looks better in them. despite the constant flip of topic, he's happy it all makes sense in his terms.

the time has come – GLASSHOUSE fans' favourite holiday of the year, aka, HALLOWEEN. the people have been waiting a year in suspense for the company's annual event, and they haven't been disappointed with this year's celebration. at the end of september, GLASSHOUSE posted on their official website a link for something they called FREAK NIGHT. just like the previous year, you'd have to pre-order the tickets, and the winners would be randomly picked, while those who haven't been selected would receive a signed album of their choice and a virtual fan meet.

the event was happening on an abandoned farm, where fans would be thrown into a extended maze and would try to escape it before their beloved idols "kill" them. the people involved would be randomly assigned into groups of five to seven, which would then have to work together to escape the FREAK NIGHT safe and sound. once the fans safely found an exit, they would receive a card with a mysterious link written on it. the link would then bring them to GOOGLE FORMS, where people had to provide proof they were at the event, write their address and favourite group / singer to receive a tote bag of goods, which would be filled with the [ CHOSEN ARTIST ]'s 2024 SEASON's GREETINGS ( SMART ALBUM VERSION ), an album with BEHIND THE SCENES of the event, FREAK NIGHT's official POSTCARD, CANDY SET which was personally picked by the [ CHOSEN ARTIST ], JIGSAW PUZZLE, official [ CHOSEN ARTIST ]'s HOODIE and a PERSONALISED LETTER, commemorating their time at the GLASSHOUSE's FREAK NIGHT.

the event proved successful not just for the fans, but also for artists from different companies who entered the fun maze, which was shared on instagram for the rest of the world to see! GLASSHOUSE was praised for their dedication during the annual holiday and the company was mentioned in various american magazines for such a cool and interesting approach to interacting with fans.

Bez Reviews Independent Books 2: To Wield The Darkest Night

Hey everyone!  I wanna do little reviews/writeups for the independently-published books I find on itch.io, and so, here I am.  I want to review one book every month or two (or quicker, if I’m lucky); it’ll get me reading more, and get authors who often go without feedback some thoughts on their work!  I think it’ll be cool for everyone!

I’m back, and sooner than expected!  Today I’m reviewing To Wield The Darkest Night by Beau Van Dalen, which is a medieval fantasy book I was looking forward to for quite some time.  It’s about a transmasc apothecary named Sol who is seeing a handsome knight in his dreams—then, the knight (named Yohan) shows up IRL asking for Sol to help cure the king with a potion!  Sol & Yohan set off on this quest, and end up falling in love along the way.

This review contains light spoilers and discusses adult topics!  Minors, stay out!

The story definitely came across to me as a wish fulfillment type of tale.  Yohan is perfect boyfriend to Sol: he’s affirming & accepting of Sol’s transness, advocates for his boyfriend whenever he can, and is a wonderful lover in bed.  It’s not “totally realistic” or whatever, but it doesn’t have to be—when being transmasc is tough (I’m transmasc, if you didn’t know), sometimes you need a babygirl knight in a book to tell you that you deserve to take up space.

That’s especially important for Sol, who is struggling to be out as himself at the start of the book, and also has a lot of trauma thanks to a past mentor.  I related strongly to both of those things, and I thought they were depicted with great care.  Yohan basically demonstrates how one should act towards someone with that baggage.

Existence is a theme woven in throughout the book.  There are multiple times where the line “He [Sol] exists,” is said, usually to emphasize a moment when Sol’s transness is affirmed.  Sol refers to being out & open about his transness as “finally existing”.  And the book ends like this:

“And in the darkness the world has never been this bright—between their sweat-soaked skin, glowing orange under the flicker of candlelight in the room there is warmth, and they exist. “Finally, they exist. “They exist. They exist. They exist.”

To exist as you are as a queer person is a blessing like no other, and it is a blessing Yohan gives Sol.  Through Yohan’s affirmation & love, Sol gains the courage to be who he is, to finally live instead of just survive.

I’ll touch on the sex scenes briefly.  There’s a beautiful arc within the sex scenes as Sol lets Yohan explore more of his body, and the two experiment in bed, all while growing closer to one another.  You can also feel the desire they have for each other oozing off of the words on the page.  Their love is absolutely potent.

If I had any complaints about the book, well, the beginning is a little rocky.  There’s lots of information dumped on the reader in the beginning—quick bursts of info, like pow pow pow!  It can be a bit overwhelming.

I also wish the book dwelled more on the dreams Sol had about Yohan.  I would have like to see what exactly Sol’s visions of the knight were, instead of being told about them in passing.  We are told that the dreams grip Sol’s mind, but are never shown the exact contents.

But those are minor nitpicks about what is otherwise a very beautiful book.  Honestly, the book feels sacred in a way, a beautiful tale of transmasc affirmation and undying love.  I really loved it, and definitely recommend it.
