I might get burned at the fandom stake here, but I personally think Zuko x Katara x Aang being a thing when they are older would be very interesting and hilarious. Just hear me out-

Katara and Aang, married, both looking at Zuko: "Hey so my wife and I saw you across the bar, and we saved the world together and all so, can I get you some tea?" kinda vibe.

Like the three of them are all each other's narrative foils and parallels. They circulate each other narratively and emotionally throughout the whole series and even comics. When they're all older restoring peace around the world, they would have all spent so much time together I like to think it would just, kinda Click for them

Was reading a review for Link Click (a FANTASTIC series btw) and someone commented that the characters had the BL “contrasting hair trope” so the fans would think they’re cute, or whatever.

Consider this a PSA that in anime, paired characters that have contrasting black and white hair are almost always representing yin and yang. A few other visual motifs that reference yin and yang concepts are missing eyes (in Mushishi they even contrast this with a monocle), facial scarring, and arrows (think Killua’s skateboard or Aang’s tattoo).

Sure, the fan service brings in the audience, but many creators are trying to make something meaningful, too.

You know what really slaps about Rimmer/Lister as a concept? You can ship them in the fluffiest, warm-cocoa kind of way, or as fatally toxic, codependent freaks who cannot communicate and should absolutely not involve anyone else in their shenanigans. and somehow both of these interpretations are equally supported by canon.

you know how sasuke is associated to amaterasu, who is the shinto sun goddess and itachi to tsukuyomi, the shinto moon god and in the tales, amaterasu after feeling hurt by tsukuyomi’s actions and labeling him as evil, they are separated forever. meanwhile sasuke and naruto’s moon and sun symbolism comes from yin and yang, that are meant to go together and balance each other… yeah

I dont necessarilly dislike fluffy fanart of them, lots of artists that draw them like that are really talented and its an enjoyable part of their dynamic. little moments of respite among the endless fighting.

but yeah my favorite part of their whole deal is that they kind of always are fighting (makes the more tender moments better when theyre purposefully hurting eachother the other 80% of the time) that push and pull really makes the whole dynamic fun and theres definitely not as much stuff out there as id like of them just being objectively a terrible couple

they probably like fighting, its comfortable, familiar and easy to get into. mutual understanding i need to let off some steam and youre my eternal punching bag kind of thing.

and its funny because in the show/manga theyre very much shown as like. constantly fighting like the dysfunctionality is in the text and yet... sigh... no one gets em like i do more fruk evil cheating more fruk fistfights more killing eachother something something hate you so much i want to kiss you
