I fucking love romancing Emmrich as a non-Mourn Watch Rook. I love it I LOVE it!

I've done both routes and I enjoyed the meeting of minds you get in the special MW dialogue options but the JOY of watching Emmrich experience love from outside his own secluded circle is unmatched.

Of course a fellow Mourn Watcher would match his freak, of course they'd get necromancy of course they'd love wisps and the necropolis of course.

But he spends so much energy defending it all to the rest of the team early on, because outside of Nevarra it is taboo.

They don't know if they can trust the necromancer

They side-eye his skulls

But then there's Rook. An outsider respectful of the tableaus, charmed by wisps and friendly with Manfred. They compliment his control and passion. They're impressed, rather than suspicious. He doesn't have to defend himself to Rook and how unexpected...

Rook as a person with no previous experience with Nevarra looks through the taboo and the superstition and the preconceived notions and sees Emmrich. Sees his passion. And loves every piece.

This is just a crazy thought, friends, but here it is.

You're allowed to name your Sole Survivor something other than Nora. Really. I promise the world will not implode if you do. The game will give your spouse the default name, because... actually no one knows why they made that stupid fucking decision, like what the actual fuck, but there's a reason they gave Codsworth the ability to say over 900 names. They wanted you to give her a name, my darlings.

I can't even fathom how many hours Stephen Russell spent in the booth recording so many different versions of each with all those different inflections. Respect his hard work and sacrifice.

"What do you remember of being human, Echo?" The question is out of the blue and unexpected. But Sora offers a patient smile and tilts her head in curiosity, just enough that one of her ears flops over. It's endearing, if anything.

But Echo wishes she hadn't asked.

"Not much. Distinct memories are cloudy." A tired tone says softly, a pained recollection in her eyes and an acrid haze in her soul that endures, endures, and endures, "But I remember the discomfort more than anything. My body always did feel wrong back then. Misshapen. Condensed. Like it was too small for everything buried underneath, and that ache went so deeply some days that it would make my skin crawl. I hated that part the most."

At that, Sora's expression falls. She looks inexplicably sad, as if she'd hoped for a different response, a gentler one despite knowing the harsh truth about the dark future and the struggles Echo must have suffered. "But you had Grovyle, right? I'm sure he took care of you."

"He did, Sora, of course he did." A sigh, a flick of an ear and claws clenched tightly into the churned earth pressed under her paws. "I doubt I deserved his attention, though. I was too busy being angry at the world to give any care back."

In my lore, Echo does not look fully human during their time in the dark future. Since they were Darkrai before becoming human, and as a result of Palkia's reckless shattering of the Dimensional Portal which distorted both time and space, Echo's transformation was broken and accidental. They ended up looking pretty messed up and definitely (not) human. A lot of their characteristics as Darkrai carried over but rather morphed into something else.

And Grovyle, growing up in a world where humans have been extinct for longer than any living pokémon has been alive, has no concept of what a "true" human looks like. The only thing he knows is descriptions of humans from glyphs and texts in old ruins. Thus, he mistakes Echo for an actual human. And Echo, not knowing what a human looks like themselves due to amnesia, accepts this identification with nothing better to use.

Starting to think, going by the MXTX fandoms, that a lot of people are comfortable with being a bit terrible and not thriving for an ideal whatsoever, because they really really reeaaally want to believe Xue Yang and Jiang Cheng are poor cuties who weren't lucky and the heroes are a bunch of holier-than-thou arrogant bitches who need to be taken down a peg when the text says the opposite, because then it justifies their own faults and hatred of genuinely awesome people who seem to have it better in life and isn't that sooo unfair and isn't it fair that they should suffer to learn what it's like to suffer like them, poor tortured, petty, flawed humans who see themselves in the villains rather than the heroes.

Can I just go off about this for a minute? Like, it cuts me to my core how @projectdestati incorporates character themes into relevant songs. This is my favorite so much because it's so subtle, but fits so perfectly.

This version of Treasured Memories solemnly incorporates Rikus theme in a way that is just so beautiful and perfect that it might outshine Rikus theme as a stand alone peice because if how much more weight it carries in the context of Treasured Memories.

It works because Treasured Memories is meant to play when Sora is reflecting on someone he misses- we see that mostly when he thinks of Riku.

We also know that Riku is a deep comfort and grounding presence in Soras life-- a constant in his most precious memories of childhood. We see this in Dream Drop where memories with him and Riku are featured most prominently in the Dive to Sora's sleeping heart.

Green Requiem has a phenomenal series on YouTube discussing the nuances of the KH Music, but I'd really love to do a mini series in the vein of @violethowler's Constructing Kingdoms series mixed with @tennelleflowers 's speculative video essays and @nikutsuneart 's Sleeping Realm theories.

I wonder how much foreshadowing we can uncover from the musically score alone... My music theory is shit, but I feel like there is a lot of hidden evidence to be uncovered and speculated upon regarding the series.

I’ve only just watched the first episode of the new Taskmaster today, and the thing is, everyone’s rightfully cracking up at John’s line about the 2 hours spent working out health and safety and insurance with the producers, it’s very funny, but it genuinely took me a little while to remember how funny it is. It’s the John exposure. As a regular listener to the Elis and John radio shows over the years, you just know that this is genuinely how John is. He’ll mention—and probably even get excited to go over the nerdy details of what counts in the car insurance, I can swear he’s done that on Radio X before. He’s the guy that will do an hour long standup special concerning slotted spoons (with a side of anxiety). He’s wildly funny, but to listeners of the Elis and John shows, this is just Friday afternoon.
