i agree 1000% with what an earlier annon had said about utahime getting with satoru and y/n getting with toji is by no means similar, (ily annon who said this ♡♡) and i wanted to also add that while i get angry with certain characters, i cant help but be perplexed about their true intentions and their feelings-- and it doesnt make me angry anymore when i look more into it.

yes, utahime is a bad friend but shes a very intresting character. i love the "forbidden love" trope because it shows how characters really are like. utahime-- i cant help but love her character. she interests me, and im not sure if this was mentioned yet, but she also reminds me of cassie in a way . she feels horrible, she feels like a bad best friend, she knows what shes doing isnt right but at the same time she cant help but love; she cant help falling in love-- even if its with someone who shes not supposed to be with. and utahime is one of my favorite characters so i might not be in the place to say this... but shes getting a lot of hate and people need to know that this happens in real life; that this is realistic; and that this isnt just happening because you "favor her".

I looked at the pages and first: the amount of christian hate, like yes there are fundys and orthodox toxic movements that harm people and are if they get power dangerous, but there are also nice christian churches that are harmless in fact even lovely for the comunity, like black churches, progressive lgbtiq churges,

I love the progressive normal churches in the Netherlands, for me this religion makes more sence

also a sub hint of anti semitism, and it feels like this website is written by vilains in a story to make them look good.

Also the ego to tell that satanism is the mother religion, that rubbs me the wrong way, most paganism don’t involve satan as a godd, mostly they godds of death.

"Loki! Stop! Your going to tangle my hair before the party!" You yelled running away from the older boy.

"Oh come now! Its so fluffy like this I just want to pet it. I have never seen it down. It looks like Thor might have accidentally struck you with his lightening." He laughed following you. You stopped running and turned to him with tears in your eyes.

You had hated your hair since you could remember, bright red ringlet curls that hung down your back and smaller frizzy hairs that stuck up every where on top of your head. Not to mention the nightmare of your mother having to brush the long thick hair ever morning. She always kept it in a tight French braid down the middle of your back except for today. Today she sat you down for what felt like hours tending to each curl making sure it looked perfect for the feast at the palace tonight.

"That was very mean Loki." You balled you little fist in anger.

"Oh dear I am truly sorry." The boy said sarcastically placing his hand on his heart.

"Your a bully Loki Odinson and I dont want to be your friend anymore." You yelled stomping off.

"Oh come on, y/n, dont be that way." He laughed chasing after you. You ignored him and turned your face away. "Please y/n! Don't be that way." You stopped and looked up at him.

"What? Oh yes, I'm juat looking for your brother. Have you perhaps seen him?" You asked whipping you tears from your face. He pointed toward the palace garden with a smile amd waved as you walked past him. You entered the queens garden to see Loki sitting on a bench under your favorite willow.

"You are very lucky that you do not have to go to classes." You sighed sitting next to him.

He laughed looking over at you. "I did have to go to class just like you, you are almost done. Just two more years and you can follow your dreams."

"I hate them. I hate them all. They laugh at me, call me a prince courtesan." Your tears began to fall again as you told him how you were treated at class.

"What are the names of these people?" His porcelain skin taking on a pink hue.

"Dont worry about them, the last thing I need is for you to get in trouble. If something where to happen then who would be my friend?" You asked whipping away the last of the tears.

The sun shined bright into the room waking you from you peaceful state, a strong grip pulled you closer to a warm body. Flesh met flesh as lips trailed down the curve of your neck and teeth started to nip at your shoulder trying to wake you further from your dream land. Hands dancing upon your goose bumped flesh, graceful, powerful, all consuming during the nights activities, a deed that was forbidden to happen between a man of his status and a girl of the locals.

"Loki. Please let me rest." You hummed burying your head farther into the pillows. He continued leaving open kisses across your shoulder blades.

"But darling, I was just getting started again. I want to show you how much you have consumed my heart and soul." He said rolling you over to your back, his black hair creating a curtain as if shelding the two of you from the rest of the world.

Tears of embaressment sprang to your eyes as you pulled the sheet closer to you, trying to make your self smaller, less noticeable.

"Get dressed, both of you to the throne room immediately." His face shown red as he walked out of the room.

"It will be ok." Loki turned to you putting his palm to your cheek. "He will not keep us apart. This I will promise." He leaned in and kissed your forehead. The two of you got dressed in silence and made your way to the throne room where Thor, Frigga, and Odin stood waiting. Neither Frigga nor Thor came to stand next to the two of you but looked on.

"Loki Odinson, this is an embaressment that you have brought to the family. A commoner, a mear pes-"

"No!" Loki yelled back. "She is no mear peasant. I love her."

"Do not play that hand with me son. I have told you, to stay away from the help." He looked over to you at this time. "What have you say about this?"

"Y/n Y/L/n. You are banished to Midguard to live out your miserable days." Odin took his staff and tapped it on the ground three times sealing your fate as an outcast. Loki yelled beside you as you were pulled from the room by the two guards leading you away to the Bit frost.

Two more guards stopped him from following you out. "It is for your own good Loki." Thor said behind him as he watched you being lead away.

After practiclly being thrown into the abyss you landed in what looked like a empty field, until you seen a man dressed in a black trench coat and a solid black outfit with a patch over his eye.

Lets take a look at the symptoms; 

Having an unstable or dysfunctional self-image or a distorted sense of self (how one feels about one’s self). Keith definitely has a problem with feeling worthless. We all know that Lance has problems with insecurity, but what goes over a lot of people’s heads is that Keith does too. He assumes people dont like him, the only thing he’s actually sort of proud off are his flying skills. He doesn’t want to lead Voltron cause he doesn’t think he’s any good as a leader, and while he’s not as good at it as Shiro, he defnitely has some leader qualities but he doesn’t see them himself. He came a long way in season 3 in a very short time but he didn’t see it.  And his self-sacrifice at through-out of season 4? It could just be the blade of marmora influencing him with their “the mission is more important than the individual” crap, but I don’t think it is. He goes back for other memembers and even tries to fight Kolivan to save the guy when he would maybe be able to throw the guy to safety but never run back himself. And the final eppisode? Keith cares more about anyone and anything than himself. He’s literally willing to die to save anyone else. 

Feelings of isolation, boredom and emptiness. We all know Keith suffers from not really feeling a connection with others. He’s literally been on a ship in space with six other people for God knows how long and they still describe him as the lone wolf, he still trains on his own all the time. And the common misconception is that he wants to be alone. He really, really, really doesn’t. I cannot stress enough how much this boy would love to join in on the fun all the time, to not be so far away from the rest of them, but he just can’t.  He’s too scarred he’ll be rejected or something along those lines so instead he just... Lone wolfs it. 

Difficulty feeling empathy for others.  I decided against highlighting this one because we haven’t really seen a lot of it. Although, there have been a few cases of this, like when Pidge tried to leave. In my personal opinion, I don’t think he can summon the empathy very well unless he’s going through or has been through the same thing.  When he and Allura went out to space because they both though Zarkon was tracking them he showed quite a bit of empathy towards her but that was also because they were in the same boat (no pun intended) he was sort of going through the same thing. So he understood. When Lance came to him with his issues of insecurrity he got it because he’s scarred of being kicked out too. Of not being a valueable member to the team.  But when Pidge wanted to go find her family he couldn’t relate. Cause he’s never really had a family to look for. We don’t know what happened with his dad, whether he died or just up and left like his mum did. But seeming it’s more logical, lets assume his dad did die, he doesn’t know his mother, so... He doesn’t understand Pidge wanting to look for her brother.  You may argue that he had Shiro to look for, but if you watch the first episode of season one its pretty clear he wasn’t looking for Shiro. He’s surprised to see him there and he was tracking Voltron before that. Finding Shiro was merely conicidental.

A history of unstable relationships that can change drastically from intense love and idealization to intense hate.  Again, I didn’t want to highlight this one because, well, we don’t know enough about his backstory to be able to judge if he’s had unstable relationships in the past.  However, you cant tell me he doesn’t have and intense idealization of Shiro that kinda turned into a sort of hate (but not really) when he was left in charge of Voltron. But that’s all I got on that one. He doesn’t really seem to hate people or idealise them (apart from Shiro) Some may argue that he hated Lance in season one, but honestly, I call bullshit on that. Annoyance, yes. Hate, no.  Annoyed neutrality. 

A persistent fear of abandonment and rejection, including extreme emotional reactions to real and even perceived abandonment I feel like I dont have to go into this.... So I wont... AT LEAST NOT THE OVERLY OBVIOUS STUFF.  Okay so, our boy has abandonment issues. We all knew that. But I honestly don’t think y’all are seeing just how far this stuff actually goes.  When he though Lance hated him (EXACTLY HOW CANNON THE HATE IS IS UP FOR DISSCUSSION, FIGHT ME ANNONS) he really didn’t want much to do with him. Even made a few jabs at him so that he could reject Lance first.  With the B.O.M however, we see him literally almost work himself to death during the trails in fear of being rejected to the group. The boy has major issues with self esteem, which is probably why he did so well at the garrison, cause he needs those results to feel okay about himself. He doesn’t think he’s good enough so he works towards being better, yes its pragmatic, but ultimately he’ll end up.... oh I don’t know... sacrificing himself. 

Intense, highly changeable moods that can last for several days or for just a few hours.  Again, I didn’t highlight this one because, well I don’t have too much to back it up other than that he seems very easy to upset. A little comment like that he’s the lone wolf, even though he’s trying to fit in can really get to him. And just... can people stop hurting my baby please? 

Strong feelings of anxiety, worry and depression Honestly, this is another one I don’t feel like I have to explain. It just, Keith is a guy that worries a lot, and he definitely has anxiety when it comes to interacting with others. From the way he talks about his mother to the way he looked at his blade when he was figuring out his Galra identity, and the look on his face when the others were pissed off at him in season 4, I think depression is definitely a concept he touches on. Maybe not fullblown, actual depression, but I think he has... issues with feeling like a depressed person feels sometimes.  But he’s never actually vocalized this, so this may be me projecting. Though he does show some general symptoms fo depression. 

Impulsive, risky, self-destructive and dangerous behaviors, including reckless driving, drug or alcohol abuse and having unsafe sex I just, r e c k l e s s  d r i v i n g  Yes, he’s a skilled pilot but you cannot tell me he doesn’t throw caution to the wind a lot.  Also remember that king he held hostage?  Also remember how he worked himself to death during the B.O.M trials? Also remember the self sacrifice?  Also remember the putting himself in danger to safe his teammates?  Also remember how he ran away with Allura in the middle of the night because he THOUGHT he MIGHT be getting tracked and left the team unable to form Voltron without telling anyone?

Hostility “What? Keith is a total hothead”- Lance, 2016.  No but, Keith has said himself that he can be this way.  Even Shiro has pointed it out to him. This one is kinda also just very self explanitory. 

Unstable career plans, goals and aspirations Well I mean, his plans do kinda seem to be all over the place. He got kicked out of the Garrison... and tracked alien life for a year???  And other than finding Shiro in season 2-3 and joining the blade he never really has a long term plan. His only goal is defeating the Galra, it doesnt go deeper than that. He doesnt necessarily want to go home or settle down. He has no plan. He just kinda floats through life.

With BPD you have these things called modi. Modi are... in simple terms, fragments of your personality. There are five modi, the protector, the strict/punishing parent, the abandoned/abused child, the angry/impulsive child and the healthy grown up. Everybody sort of has these a little bit, but when you have BPD your healthy adult mode is a little... under developed/overwhelmed by the other modi. 

I personally also suffer from BPD and I honestly see a lot of these modi in Keith. The protector is the main one that seems to be present with him. (I also have this one, I call mine richard/dick for short). The protector’s main job is keeping people at arm’s lenght, its hard to get past this guy, esspecially if he’s the main dude running the show. Keith’s protector seems to work a lot with the impulsive child which is why he has such dificulty being a leader. 

I want to give an example here of how Keith’s modi seem to coexist; 

So lets take the scene where he just started leading Voltron and he chased Lotor into the gassplanet. So, he has an objective; get Lotor. His strict parrent modi will lock onto this WITH A FUCKING DEATH GRIP. It doesn’t matter what he has to do, he needs to get his objective. The impulsive child then takes over with the the stirct parent fueling him by telling him he needs to do this, when the team tells him to stop the protector shrugs them off. 

Later, once he failed, and lost everyone, the child and the protector regress, leaving the abandoned child and the strict parrent to yell at it and make the child feel like shit about itself. This is when Keith is vulnerable. That’s why Lance could approach him, and he knows it. And while acknowledging that Keith fucked up, he appeals to the healthy adult in his system to try and get him to move on. 

THAT is why Lance is so good for him and why he stablizes Keith mentally. He is able to tell him that he made a mistake while still accesing the healthy grown-up. Shiro, on the other hand, doesn’t do that. He is constantly trying to shape Keith to be better and sometimes, yes he gets through to Keith’s healthy adult and stuff (patience yeilds focus), but mostly he appeals to the strict parent telling him to be better. 

It doesn’t surprise me that that’s why he saw Shiro during the Galra trials. He really, really, really wants his approval. He might even see Shiro as the strict modi if he were to personify it. 

I hope you’re as sad about this as I am, because it’s two a.m and this suddenly hit me like 20 minutes ago and I’ve been keeping my emotions in check ever since.

(Y/N) smiled entering in the chinese restaurant, Jade Wolf,  where her boyfriend was waiting for her.

Outside of the restaurant it was awfully quiet, like everyone vanished. For the shadowhunter girl it was weird not to see any werewolves hanging out there, but she also enjoyed it since most of them were too noisy for her taste.

The door opened with a click, the bell ringing through the restaurant. No one was in there either. The lights were off, only candles making light.

The room wasn’t decorated with its usual handmade crafts, instead the walls were decorated with pictures of her and Alaric, her boyfriend; there was only one table, surrounded by roses and red balloons. The ambient being even more magical with the help of classical music that was coming from the radio.

(Y/N) smiled widely, “ Alaric?”

A pair of hands grabbed her waist, turing her around.

“ Happy two years anniversary, angel.”

She gasped, “ you remembered?”

The werewolf looked shocked, “ how could I even forget?” he smirked

(Y/N)  moved her head closer to Alaric. He sit frozen, from both love and excitement. She leand in, so her foreheads rests against his. They close their eyes. Both their breaths were shaking.

“Thank you,” she says in barely more than a whisper.

“For what?” he replies, his voice low and husky.

“For being you.” Her voice wavers, exhilarated from the tension between them.

“ And for always being here for me and doing this amazing things and lastly, thank you for loving me.”

(Y/N) stared at him in surprise; he was never the one to be sentimental or say everything that’s on his mind, so seeing him like this was a surprise even for his girlfriend.

She looked at his beautiful hazel eyes , perfectly framed by his dark curls, for her he was like some kind of angel, even if in reality it was the other way around.

His fingers gently ran up and down her spine, coaxing shivers out of (Y/N).  With her cheeks blushing hotly, she glanced up into his captivating brown eyes.

Alaric leaned down, resting his forehead against hers. (Y/N) watched breathlessly as his eyes studied hers with silent intensity.

He smiled, “ you see, the thing is that I want to spent the rest of my life with you”, Alaric placed one of his hands on her cheek, “ I think that relationships are more than just dating and kissing and holding hands. I know that until now, this” he gesticulated between them, “ was a secret, but now since I know that our relationship its about accepting each other’s weirdness and flaws, is about being yourself and finding happiness together, is about seeing a imperfect person perfectly, I want to move further. ”

Alaric got down on one knee and pulled out of his jacket a small black box; opening it revealed a diamond ring.

“Will you (Y/N) (Y/L/N) be my wife for the rest of eternity ?”

(Y/N) gasped, “ of course.”

The shadowhunter helped Alaric to get up , wrapping her hands around his neck.  She  leaned in a softly kisses up and down Alaric’s neck. He let out little moans. (Y/N) worked her way back to his smooth lips.

Just as she felt a rush of euphoric bliss envelop her, making her heart sing with pure joy, Alaric drew away. She instantly missed the lovely heat curling within her.

“ Aldertree. ”

“ Did I stepped on your moment?”

(Y/N) jerked at the sound of Aldertree’s voice; he was the head of the institution and she perfectly knew how much he hated downworlders.

“ (Y/N), what a shame. I didnt know you’d go out with every filthy werewolf. ” he said in a mocking tone

“ Victor.” she said with her hands already curled up in fists

“ Don’t bother, I only came here because I needed to talk with the leader, but he’s not here I see. ”

The couple watched as the uninvited guest left the restaurant; it was tension between them until (Y/N) decided to break the silence.

“ Alaric ? I hope that it’s okay if-”

The werewolf knew what she was going to say so he nodded, “ Sure, go on. Talk with that douche bag. I’ll be waiting.”

Before she left, he put the ring on her finger, to it’s rightful place.

=======================================  GKD: It’s gentler to DotNW than some other rankings I’ve seen. I tend not to trust people that like Vespiria best “because the writing is good” to like DotNW at all because they’re looking for some VERY different things in the narrative than I am and most definitely will not like Emil as a protagonist if they like Yuri as a protagonist. I agree that Abyss belongs pretty high on the rankings along with Symphonia and I agree with the rankings of the other games I’m at least aware of (I haven’t played most of the titles yet but I’m planning to and know a decent amount through osmosis.)  Most people that don’t like DotNW tend to have the same few complaints: “Lloyd bad? No! GAME BAD!” Like... Lloyd stans, I love y’all, but I know a fair chunk of people refused to play the game because they heard Lloyd was the villain and instead of going “that’s not Lloyd, Lloyd would never do that, I wonder who it actually is or if we’re playing as the real bad guys.” a lot of them went “That’s not Lloyd, Lloyd would never do that. Therefore the game is bad for implying Lloyd is any different than the Lloyd I loved playing as.” This ties into the second group of people that don’t like DotNW for the “nostalgia goggles” reason. Symphonia was probably their first Tales game and they loved it so much that this game not being everything they wanted out of a sequel made them so disenchanted with it that they can’t enjoy the parts of it that make it a separate game and just see all those parts as “places they could have made it MORE like the game I loved” instead of “Ah yes, the new content that’s good on its own and is kind of ruined by the fact they tried to cram the old cast in here for me.” Then there are the people who hate the mechanics which is... fair but... unless a game’s mechanics have made it impossible for me to do something because of a poorly timed button press (see the rope swinging levels of Wind Waker which were easy for me as a kid and make me want to scream as an adult with slower reflexes.) I’ve never hated a game for the mechanics alone. If people find the game unplayable or unpolished because the mechanics don’t gel or aren’t intuitive? That’s fine. That’s just not something I’ve ever had a problem with before. Then there are people who hate the story. These people and I will never see eye-to-eye because apart from a few unanswered questions, which kind of leave intrigue more than frustration, Marta’s development being completely shoved into the journal and a few skits, and some of the best content (the Alice and Decus and Richter sidequests) being too easy to miss, the story is one of my favorite things about the game if not my FAVORITE thing. Maybe they like the plot to spell everything out for them. Or maybe they like even more vagueries. Maybe they want more twists like in Symphonia. Maybe they want a straightforward narrative and hated the plot contrivances. I’d be curious how the haters of DotNW’s story would react to the original Baten Kaitos and the prequel Origins, because I think it would be about the same. I think Symphonia lovers would like BK but not Origins and DotNW lovers would like Origins and either dislike or just kinda enjoy the original BK. And then there are the people who hate DotNW because of Emil. And again, I don’t think I’ll ever see eye-to-eye with them. Emil’s development as a character is almost perfect to me. IDK if people just happen to prefer silent-protags with snarker options like some of the new Links from the Legend of Zelda series, or just hated having to play in the shoes of someone who wasn’t always heroic, but I honestly LOVE when a game doesn’t give me just a cookie-cutter protag like Lloyd. If a game wants the protag to be a version of me? Then I want things like the Elder Scrolls where you can customize a fair bit about your character including the dialogue, even if it’s just window dressing. If the game wants me to play as a character they invented? I want that little bugger to be interesting. I want to get attached. And DotNW does that for me with Emil. Baten Kaitos did it for me with Kalas. I don’t need them to be perfect. I need them to be interesting. I don’t need them to be my mouthpiece, I need them to be fun to watch. Sonic the Hedgehog is a perfect example of that. Sonic’s personality is completely independent of my actions in the game. He’s a free-spirited 90s kid who likes to go fast, though his exact aesthetic seems to update depending on the demographic playing since he wasn’t always a 90′s kid aesthetic. XD To me, the entire point of DotNW is watching Emil grow (it would be nice if it was about watching EVERYBODY GROW, like Marta and Richter and even the original cast.) Having Emil start out as a whimpering little “coward” and watching him grow as he learns more about himself, the world, and how he fits into that world is so good. Lloyd was always kind of cut out to be a hero especially because the plot bent around him to ensure basically anything and everything he wanted was “the right choice.” Lloyd never had to change. He never had to grow. He stuck to what he believed and made the world change around him. I guess that’s powerful to some people, believing they can change the world and are already perfect as they are. But Lloyd never struck a chord with me the way Emil did. And before I started liking Colette more, Zelos was my fave from Symphonia because he WASN’T PERFECT but also wasn’t a shitty dad like Kratos. XD Emil was WAY more captivating and engaging because HE HAD TO CHANGE to make the world around him change. He had to go from being Ratatosk -  a powerful summon spirit, alone, depressed, enraged, vengeful, completely broken after what happened to him - to a human boy - timid, weak, but caring an passionate - and then spent the entire game becoming a synergy of those two aspects. Merging the best of both sides into something BETTER. Perhaps getting closer to what Ratatosk was before his tree died. Mithos did say that Emil’s kindness and Ratatosk’s strength and confidence are what he remembers most about the original Ratatosk. So Emil might not have gotten fully back to that, hell he may NEVER be that Ratatosk again, but the fact that he PUT HIMSELF BACK TOGETHER AT ALL, the fact that he didn’t have to become unkind to be strong again and the fact that he didn’t have to stay weak to keep his kindness was VERY POWERFUL as was the message that kindness is a strength of its own, maybe even more powerful than physical strength, because it’s only when the characters show each other kindness that things really seem to change (and kindness takes COURAGE which as we know is the magic that turns dreams into reality.) Like... the game was SO MUCH MORE about emotional beats. So as much as I like the original Symphonia, the OVA is WAY better because Lloyd actually has a bit more personality and HAS TO CHANGE if only a little bit, though he still has MASSIVE plot armor. DotNW might fair better as an OVA since it could linger on the emotional aspects I liked a lot more and it might provide that separation for people who just hated DotNW because it “made them play as a sniveling brat.” And then there are people that hate it for the monster-catching thing. Which was like a bonus for me because I love Pokemon but like... if you don’t like catching Monsters then just... don’t? I sucked at catching Monsters and I still got strong enough that the later half of the game was manageable my first time around. If you don’t like your “worse version of Pokemon” then just... don’t use that mechanic. You can level up enough by grinding like the original Symphonia to get strong enough for the rest of the game. I’m sorry you joyless people don’t like adventures with cute critters. The monsters, other than Richter and Emil, are my fave characters in the game because they’re ALL SO CUTE! XD But yeah. These aren’t all the reasons I’ve heard, and just because I disagree doesn’t mean they’re not valid reasons. Liking or not liking DotNW is an opinion and everyone is allowed to have an opinion. People can like what they want and dislike what they want. So I was glad to see an opinion piece that didn’t eviscerate DotNW off-hand (some critics never even played the game and this person at least seems familiar with the controls so they played at least a bit.) It’s still always sad when people don’t like DotNW, and it’s especially sad since a lot of DotNW’s fans are the JP audience that I can’t talk to very easily because I’m an American idiot that only speaks basic Spanish and only knows minimal Japanese from being a teenaged weeb. But I’m happy that at least this particular critic recommends the game for Symphonia fans, even if they didn’t like it themself. I’m also very happy that Bamco made it a main title and not a spin off so it’s canon now and people can stop saying the game doesn’t matter or doesn’t count because they didn’t like it. I’m fine with them still hating it, but they have to at least acknowledge that this is a story the developers wanted to tell in line with the main series and not just “something they made because Symphonia made lots of money.” I do think that DotNW would have done better with the USA and European audience if the team had gone with their original idea and set it far enough in the future that the Symphonia crew wasn’t there or that only the half-elves and possibly Lloyd and Colette (or Zelos since he’s technically an angel too) were there. Emil’s story, Richter’s story, and (the good parts of) Marta’s story are all interesting enough that they could be told without the Symphonia cast being involved at all. That being said, I LIKE the old cast being there. But because they had to change the old cast to fit the new narrative, I know that it disappointed a LOT of people who were expecting “more of the same” from the old cast and didn’t get it. So while I love the game as-is and wouldn’t change it, if it had been released according to the original vision and NOT had the original Symphonia cast in it, I think it would have been at least a little bit more well-recieved.
