universal healthcare is not broken and anyone trying to convince you it is is delusional and a dckrider for big health insurance. yes there are wait times but waiting for care is Not the same as being denied care.

in america your physician prescribes care and an insurer can still cuck you out of it because someone across the continent who has never met you can say: doesn’t seem medically necessary. Leaving you to handle a bill that is wildly inflated by the same insurers that just denied you.

let me drill it through your head you can pay thousands a year in premiums and still end up sick and financially burdened for years by One incident. no insurance company is Avoiding going broke by denying claims. theyre doing it to profit off your misfortune and your illness. Because healthcare fundamentally does not cost the amount that they claim it to be.

Tartarus is still a little broken and that's Fun !

#so far playing through all of this i have to say. the no level cap increase makes me feel cheated #with how much questing we're doing and all #iirc they said they wanted to take companion promos seriously but did this whole. Hawkules thing #where you have to get a drop and they eventually needed to increase its rate in this recent update #and if you wanted it without farming you have to pay 10 bucks worth of crowns for it now #you know! to promote a companion! but see you can just BUY a companion in the crownshop using that real money #if you cant tell ive not been a fan of this new promotion method and this is taking it 'seriously'?#granted ive just started tartarus so i kind of want to hold my tongue and see the rest for myself rn #so far these quests are Good and Bad. they definitely went in the right direction but. no level cap kind of hurts.#still feels like we're stuck in one place even though we're moving forward #there's a lot of great concepts and even better dialogue to even out the bad #but at what point do we feel it's worth doing all this effort for. a couple new mid comps and a chance at a main comp promo?#keep in mind all this posting is just my own opinion. i know there's ppl out there that either love or loathe these additions #and i find myself in the middle tbh #i find this story fine and good so far i guess but i don't know if i'm still going to feel this way by the end of it #and yes yes 'be grateful p101 even got updates' while wiz continues to get new worlds and level cap increases. wonderful to be where we are #rambling #vent

one time in melliwyk's campaign we were staying in a luxury inn in a dwarven stronghold partially populated by warforged and built inside a volcano and each room had its own private bath with running water on tap and when I/ melliwyk was like 'hot water? 👀' the DM gave me a scathingly incredulous 'no??' like that was the world's dumbest question

Short answer: Season passes and lack thereof, and allowing myself not to like every item in Sky.

Long answer because I'm a yapper:

1) Not having season passes for the last couple of seasons means I can simply get the items that I want, skip the rest that I don't, and just save the remaining daily season candles for post-season conversion.

2) However, having passes from the seasons years ago means the only thing I buy from recent new/first time traveling spirits are their wing buffs (and that won't change until like... Remembrance TS, I think?)

3) Being a player since Prophesy (which was back from 2020) also means that I already bought everything that I want from recent repeating traveling spirits.

4) I don't buy what I don't like/what I think I'll never use. I don't have the Feast Table or the Bloom Fountain or the Nature Cape even now. I don't have the cape from the sunglasses spirit of Sanctuary or the white fluffy cape from Gratitude. I skip buying items if I'm running out of candles like I didn't have rainbow/color pants until its second rerun. (For example: If I didn't have the current TS fully complete from my Performance pass, I'll genuinely only buy the guitar.)

5) I continue to candle run. No, I only occasionally do a full realm candle run; however, I always make sure to get 3-5 candles a day, at least.

I know that the Imperial system is bad and all but I gotta say. I do really like how it works for sewing

#was watching jan misali's video on the imperial measurement system and thinking.#yes metric system is easier to multiply by 10. but you are not multiplying by 10 when sewing #you are dividing #specifically by two more than once #which gets Real ugly with 10 #but is very nice with 36 and 12 and fractions of an inch #I like being able to divide inches when doing seams instead of having to work in arbitrary numbers of millimeters (too precise)#or numbers of centimeters (not precise enough).#like you got 1'' 5/8'' 1/2'' 3/8'' 1/4'' 1/8''. very directly related to each other. all the precision you need. easy to remember #also easy to standardize for different 'types' of things you're sewing #clothes are 5/8'' or 1/2'' seam. accessories like purses are 1/2'' or 3/8''. quilts are 1/4'' and French seams are 1/8''#and you can remember that and use it when you don't have a pattern to work directly off of #yards and fractional yards are also really nice to work off of when buying fabric. inches turn into fractional yards really really nicely #you can take a 5'4'' measurement for a cloak #which is 64'' just by remembering the multiples of 12 (remember your times tables? i learned those in 3rd grade)#which is 1 and 2/3 yards! very easy to remember and go to the fabric store and buy the right amount of fabric #(though i would round it up to 1 3/4 yards just to be safe)#good Lord 95 percent of this post is in the tags. anyway #my posts #sewing

I don’t think you’re ready to have an adult conversation about politics until you’re able to admit that there are things you love and enjoy that would not and should not exist in a just world. $8 billion dollar budget movies every other month don’t exist in a just world. New 900 GB AAA video games every year don’t exist in a just world. Next day delivery doesn’t exist in a just world. 80 different soda brands don’t exist in a just world.

All of those things come from exploitation on some level, and if you wouldn’t trade those for a world where everyone can eat and have a home no matter who they are or what they do, I don’t know what to tell you.

Edit: I made this comment a few days ago, but since it’s been buried in the 40k notes this post got since then, I’ll repeat it here. I agree that delivery of medications and other vital supplies are essential! The “Next day delivery” I’m talking about is shit like Amazon that relies on incredibly awful national supply chains. If I had known this post was going to get this much attention, I would have been more explicit.

#Like the wealth of billionaires and millionaires in the current day does not grow on trees #it's a product of unsustainable sustained rates of economic growth as much as it is of exploitation #It's not a magical property #in a fair world there would be less wealth overall because of less growth #and therefore more things would be more expensive to people living in what now are wealthy countries #Yes breaking up the monopoly of coca cola and pepsico could mean more soda #but if you pay fairer wages in a system that has slow or no growth #then soda will be much more expensive for the average Joe which means they will consume less of it #and with less demand comes less offer #so no you won't have 80 different types of soda #this ripples across consumer goods #the resources ARE scarce and therefore costs of opportunity are real #you do do tradeoffs #also it irritates me to no end that #no ethical consumption under capitalism #a maxim intended to dissolve paralyzing anxiety #has been turned into an excuse to absolve oneself of personal responsibility in helping along as one can #Yes the personal inconvenience that stems from purchasing local when it's possible won't fix big structural systems #but it sure as hell will make the difference to the local person you buy from #and even just for that it is worth doing #just because your actions won't have a global scale impact it doesn't mean they are irrelevant and meaningless
