I, personally, imagine that the loudest ones sound like bears. And the quietest ones aren’t really silent, so much as quieter than the others.

Like, they're typically not too terribly loud, but they do occasionally snort in their sleep.

I am actually wheezing over that. DorfMiser Bot-thers? Hysterical. I get that reference. I actually bought the Miser Brothers Christmas special on Prime. I love those two. A Year Without Santa Claus? Alright, Is the Star Wars Fandom Sexist?

As you probably know Daisy Ridley signed onto do another Star Wars film. I welcomed this..... mostly. If they don't reunited the Dyad I'm very curious as to what would be the point (more on that later.) Well, I saw this quote from a recent interview of hers, "I think my take is things get blown out of proportion and the interactions I've ever had with people have been nothing but wonderful and supportive," Ridley said. "I've only ever been embraced. And I think we're going to make a great film."

Now whether or not Ms. Ridley actually feels this way.......she's intelligent enough to say just this. Undeniably, all of the men who have talked shit about her for the past 7,8 odd years will now have softened to her for simply not holding them accountable. Hey, that's the biz kids. Don't make enemies out of your audience. No man wants to be called a sexist even if he actually is one.

Is there sexism in Star Wars? Yes and no. It has never been a straight answer. Now if you ask a lot of men in the Star Wars fandom if they are sexist..... they'll say no. Why? Princess Leia of course! Padme! Strong women who directed men, issued orders and politically led. They did and do support these women. In fact, if you had asked me if the fandom was sexist prior to The Sequel Trilogy I would've said that the SWF is one of the most progressive fandoms for women and has been since the 70s!

Change, for better or worse, was on the horizon. Hell, even worse, corporate change. It's Rage against the Machine raging FOR the machine. Least we forget how Star Wars started...... as a "fuck you" to corporatized assembly-line movie production.

However, we are not her to discuss whether The Sequel Trilogy was good. Debatable..... with the exception of Reylo. That's just iconic. We are here to discuss how on earth Daisy Ridley ending up bearing the majority of the responsibility for its failures. Maybe even more importantly the "Feminization" of Star Wars.

A sane person could tell that. The same people screaming "Star Wars is Dead" for the last seven years are still saying the eulogy. Still going on whining and complaining about it. There is a general rule when franchise start to go off the track - you ignore it was ever made. Godfather 3? Tokyo Drift? Never happened.

If you don't like what Star Wars has become then the first person on your shit list should be it's creator. George Lucas. George could've signed over Star Wars under the guarantee that whatever outline he produced for The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, Disney HAD to stick to - he didn't. He could've signed on a producer - he didn't. He could've picked someone else except Kathleen Kennedy to replace him - he didn't. Somehow George Lucas has escaped any responsibility in what his life's work has become. Maybe the fandom got it out of their system after the Prequel Road Rage.

News that George Lucas's treatments were thrown out and the extended universe being cancelled didn't exactly calm down the public.

Maybe the next person should JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy for for thinking that there was something wrong with Star Wars. Star Wars already was diverse. It already HAD strong females. Yet, there they went finding problems that didn't exist. Why? Money. Disney has a powerful female/family demographic. Star Wars a strong male demographic. Disney sought to combine the best of all worlds in one franchise and they were the company to do it. Look at what they accomplished with Marvel!

Then the announcement came that there would be a female protagonist. A female Jedi to be exact. I thought this was different and interesting. The men did not. What they saw in there head was THE FORCE IS FEMALE in flashing bright lights. This was it. Confirmation. Star Wars was about to get pussyfied. From the get-go Daisy Ridley's Rey was to be a focus, a target, for the mistrust, uneasiness and rage from the men.

Let's me be clear men are ok girls liking their stuff. As long as girls are not in a position to influence whatever it is they like, or rather "ruin it." Can you blame them? If a bunch of straight dudes came in and started writing Sex and the City I'm telling you- they'd ruin it.

The Force Awakens finally arrives and curiosity was able to lure in even the most salty man. Not to mention the possible joy of seeing Han, Luke and Leia on screen together again. TFA is a perfectly decent film. There were two glaring choices in this film. One, Han is killed. Two, Rey beats Kylo Ren at the end. All things considered we should not have been surprised what the internet had to say. Rey was a Mary Sue. Men who didn't even know what a Mary Sue was were even saying this.

The term “Mary Sue” was first coined in 1973. A young main character, usually a woman, who was portrayed as unreasonably gifted across every discipline: intellect, combat, the arts, etc. This character would often become respected (and maybe even loved) by main characters and would end the story by saving the day in heroic fashion.

You don't have to like Rey. You don't have to love her. Rey isn't even the greatest character ever developed, but come on! I wonderer if the people criticizing her even watched the movie. I heard criticism that Rey was too likable! Well, she's the protagonist. She's too pretty! That's a bad thing? She's too nice! She comes off really brash and naive actually. She's the greatest pilot ever! She flew once and not that well. Most of the criticism around Rey was disingenuous and petty as hell.

Many critics have taken the lazy route of she has no character arc or character, but that’s not a very observant take. Her yearning for family and her desperation for her parents to return, while understandable, made her vulnerable to Kylo Ren. Her loneliness made her ultimately vulnerable to anyone who would be nice to her. Now I understand there was no consequences for her faults. However, there can't be both criticism. She either doesn't have a personality, or, she has one, but doesn't suffer consequences for it.

“How could she fly the Millennium Falcon so well?” “How could she beat Kylo Ren when she’d never used a lightsaber before?” “How could she resist Kylo Ren’s interrogation?” The film answered most of these questions. Ironically, no one questioned the 8 year old Anakin Skywalker or the farm boy Luke Skywalker for being amazing or great at anything because of The Force.

She grew up defending herself in melee combat. Her quarterstaff is not a lightsaber, of course, but it was established early on that she has the instincts and the reflexes to hold her own in a fight. While I don't agree with Rey beating Kylo Ren I understand how it was accomplished. Pure, dumb luck. It was luck that Ren was physically and spiritually crippled during their confrontation. Not to mention he had the hots for you. Finn was able to hold him off mostly because Kylo was toying with him, but when he grew bored Finn ended up face first in the snow. No one questioned how Finn the janitor could wield a lightsaber.

Let's talk about Finn, or rather John Boyega. All things considered pretty lucky guy. He got a likable that he played well and got paid well. You wouldn't know it by listening to him. He complained bitterly. He attacked the fans. He attacked Disney. He attacked America. He got off Scott free with fandom. Most remember him with nothing but fondness. Maybe because he is black people feel slightly uncomfortable going after him. But, the women? No problem. Even when fans hate male characters, they talk about what they hate with nuance.

Daisy Ridley did her job and she went home. She carried on beautifully and respectfully with what she was given by the production team. That is all any actor can do. The same would apply to the girl who played Rose Tico. Yet, criticism of what was happening on screen started to bleed onto the actresses in real life.

Mark Hamill shit talked the Sequel Trilogy - fair, enough. But why did you sign on? It he because he needed a job? Hondo wasn't a great leader. I agree. But, countless people ended up losing their lives due to Poe because he refused to listen to the female authority around him. Where was the fandom with their logic bitterness scorecard? The majority of the criticism I heard (Literally several videos on Youtube) was criticism towards Hondo for not telling a newly demoted soldier all of her plans.

Anywho Rey has this new movie coming out...........okay. Not sure who wants to come back for it other than her. After TROS and the fans most co-stars seem good doing other things. OG characters are killed off. There is one person with stunning jet black hair, 6'3, plush naturally red lips, a big dick, freckles and a heroic run that she's in a dyad with that would make this whole movie worth it. Do I faith they'll do the right thing and pay Adam Driver whatever they need to to bring him back? No. Cause there is a little bit of an agenda. For some reason love in the Star Wars universe doesn't do very well, but for the woman it's none existent. The concept that a strong woman doesn't have to die alone seems odd to the very people that want equality for women. For example I saw this comment, "Rey Skywalker is her own character and her continuing story doesn’t have to revolve around Ben Solo. Daisy Ridley’s return shouldn’t be overshadowed by fan expectation over Adam Driver returning."

Yes, it does. This film needs to work. I cannot stress that enough. You know people want to see this film fail. Reylo isn't purely for sentimental reasons (I WOULD SEE MY DYAD REUNITED FOUR TIMES IN THEATRES) Reylo is the biggest marketing advantage Disney Star Wars has..... you knew that when Solo flopped. Do the smart thing, put these people on mute and give us a iconic fight fuck scene.

Rey also wear clothes appropriate with her environment and match the physical needs of what she needs to accomplish like her male peers. Logical and refreshing. I hear the men mostly complain about the lack of hot women in their fantasy.

We could also talk about the sexism Carrie Fisher faced from the not only the studio, but the fandom for the crime of getting older and gaining weight. Her in a metal bikini is already in the spank bank - she contributed enough.

Again, neither Carrie Fisher nor Daisy Ridley in a smart world could ever really own that. Anymore than the Rose Tico actress could. Worse, they could never really tell the Fanboys what they really think of them. I love me some Fanboys, I do, but they aren't a perfect group of people. They just criticism everyone's work like they are. We're suppose to ignore the giant dump they take on anything and everything that comes out. I genuinely think the people beyond The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy sought out to create a great story. To honor what came before. In many respect they did. They aren't George Lucas though.

There is legitimate criticism towards Disney for how it has handled the Star Wars franchise. Currently it can't exactly be be described as quality over quantity. The writers seem like they are writing for early 00s Disney Channel rather a complex space political fairytale. Characterization has not been wonderful. Again, it's not simple. While Disney has not steered the ship perfectly. I would argue there was an audience sitting in ill will and waiting to be disappointment.

Jooyeon is your best friend. The two of you met when you were both fifthteen, at an arcade. You and him ended up playing a two person shooting game together and discovered that you made a great team. Spending the rest of your time at the arcade together and exchanging numbers before parting. It was pretty much history after that, you and Jooyeon would meet up basically every weekend. Prime hangout spot was the arcade, but you also ventured elsewhere together. Like movies, cafes, markets, food parlors, just wandering the streets. 

Once Jooyeon became a trainee, let alone debuted, your hangouts became less, but you understood how busy he was and supported him all the way through. It’s not like the amount of time spent together determines friendship levels.

Over time you have become acquainted with Jooyeon’s members as well. Mostly seeing them via video screen when you and Jooyeon were on a call. You did see them in person too though, you were no stranger to their dorm and occasionally you would all grab a meal together. 

Presently it was one of the times that you saw the members in person. You were briefly stopping by their dorm to meet up with Jooyeon before the two of you went out.

“Well if it isn’t my rival,” you said in a playful tone upon seeing Jiseok after he opened the door for you. Jiseok only laughed at your words, stepping aside to let you in.

“Why is he your rival?” Seungmin asked, after overhearing what you called Jiseok.

“Oh it’s just a joke. Jooyeon said that Jiseok was his best friend out of Xdinary Heroes members, so I started calling Jiseok my rival,” you explained.

“I told you. Jiseok is my best friend in Xdinary Heroes, but you’re my best friend in life,” Jooyeon stated, emerging from his room. 

“Tomato, tomato. A best friend is still a best friend. Are you ready?” you checked. 

“Then we could just be a group of best friends,” Jooyeon slings one arm around your shoulders and the other around Jiseok’s shoulders, pulling the three of you closer together. “Yeah, I’m ready. Let’s go,” he releases Jiseok, but keeps his hold on you, turning to walk out the door.

“Well looks like your title might change from rival to best friend,” Seungmin jokes. 

“I don’t want to be best friends though I want to be their boyfriend,” Jiseok pined, looking at the door you and Jooyeon just left from.

“How can you be their boyfriend when you hardly talk to them?” Seungmin laughed.

“I-I talk to them. Not frequently, but I talk to them,”Jiseok defended.

“Well if you want to up your title to boyfriend you’ll have to make talking to them a frequent occurrence,” Seungmin noted, before leaving. Jiseok was now alone with his thoughts about how he was supposed to talk with you more. It would be weird if he just randomly started conversations with you right? He thought about asking Jooyeon for your number, but then decided that might also be too weird. What was he supposed to do? Maybe he’ll just hopelessly crush on you forever.

“What if we did hang out with Jiseok?” Jooyeon questioned you as you guys walked around, eating food you bought from a street vendor.

“The three of us?” you asked, turning to look at Jooyeon.

“Yes, the three of us,” he clarified with a small laugh. “I just think that it would be fun. I’m sure you two would get along great. I mean you already talk right?” Jooyeon continued. 

“We don’t really talk frequently, but yeah we’re close enough for me to jokingly call him my rival, so there’s that,” you responded. 

“Exactly, so it would be nice for all of us to hangout together,” Jooyeon claimed.

“You’re really pushing this group of best friends, aren’t you?” you accused him.

“I just think that it would be nice for my two best friends to get to know each other better. Is that so wrong?” Jooyeon said. It wasn’t a lie he didn’t want you and Jiseok to get to know each other better. However it wasn’t because you’re his two best friends. It was because he knew all about Jiseok’s crush on you and he made it his goal to get you two together. He put on his cupid wings and was ready to shoot you with an arrow that had Jiseok’s name on it.

“Fine, let’s all hangout together, the three of us,” you caved. It would be nice to know more about your rival anyway.

“Great! I’ll set it up,” Jooyeon exclaimed happily. You shook your head at how excited he was, not getting how it could be such a big deal.

“You’re going to love me~” Jooyeon sang to Jiseok as he returned to the dorm.

“Why?” Jiseok pondered.

“I convinced y/n that the three of us hanging out together would be fun,” Jooyeon informed, wiggling his eyebrows.

“So what are you saying?” Jiseok asked for clarification. 

“I’m saying we're all going to hang out together, so you can finally spend time with y/n instead of just pining over them. Isn’t that great?” Jooyeon told him.

“You’re right, I do love you!” Jiseok spoke excitedly. Excitement bubbling up inside of him at the thought of spending time with you, being able to have real conversations. 

The day has come. The day where you, Jooyeon and Jiseok are all hanging out together. The three of you met up at a mall, thinking it would be nice to just walk around and do some shopping. 

“See this is nice, just hanging out as the three of us,” Jooyeon stated. Once again one of his arms around each of yours and Jiseok’s shoulder. You were starting to get suspicious as to why Jooyeon wanted you to hang out with Jiseok so much.

“Yeah, it’s nice,” Jiseok agreed. The two are now looking over at you waiting for your answer.

“It’s nice,” you agreed too. Jiseok was fun to be around, you understood why Jooyeon called him his best friend in Xdinary Heroes.

Currently you and Jiseok were sitting at a table in the food court while Jooyeon was away getting the food. Again you found it strange how heavily he insisted on being the one to get the food. Maybe he really did just want you and Jiseok to get to know each other better and you had. After spending multiple hours with him, being a group of best friends didn’t sound bad at all. Jooyeon came back with the food, but you were too busy with your conversation with Jiseok to see the teasing look Jooyeon shot at Jiseok. Before going home you and Jiseok exchanged numbers. You saved him as “Rival :)” in your phone. Although he definitely didn’t feel like a rival now. You’re not sure he really ever did though. Thinking about it you can’t actually recall a time he said that Jooyeon was his best friend or a time he ever referred to you as his rival. He usually would just smile a pretty smile or laugh with his happiness inducing laugh whenever you called him the name. 

Time went on and hangouts as a group of three became a regular thing, so did you frequently texting or calling Jiseok. So much so that now Jooyeon would joke about Jiseok being his rival for your spot as best friend. 

“You know I don’t want to be their best friend, so that joke is pointless,” Jiseok argued.

“I know, you want to be their boyfriend, but in order to achieve that you’ll have to confess,” Jooyeon stated.

Unbeknownst to Jiseok, you wanted him to confess too. You didn’t want Jiesok to be your best friend. After spending more time with him and talking, for lord knows how many hours you started to think that the term boyfriend would fit Jiseok better. Yes, you got happy when Jooyeon’s contact name lit up your phone, but your heart didn’t skip a beat like it did with Jiseok’s. Spending time with Jooyeon was always great, but your stomach didn’t swarm with butterflies with your hands brushed or when you sat so close your legs touched. You found that you developed a crush on Jiseok to say the least. 

Today you were doing something you’ve never done before. You were hanging out with Jiseok alone. No Jooyeon, no group of best friends. Just the two of you. 

“Hey,” Jiseok greeted you with a warm smile.

“Hey,” you greeted back, offering a smile too. Both of you then headed inside the cafe you decided to hangout at. Once you received your orders you made your way over to a table, sitting down across from one another. It wasn’t awkward like you thought it might be without Jooyeon there. It was quite enjoyable actually. It was as if the two of you had been hanging out, just the two you, for years. It only made you fall deeper for him as well. 

Proceeding leaving the cafe Jiseok was currently walking you back to your place. Your hands have now accidentally brushed for the fifth time, so you finally just gathered up your courage and grabbed Jiseok’s hand. He looked a little surprised at your action, but held your hand tighter in response. 

“Y/n,” you called you after walking in silence for a while, hands still locked together. 

“Yeah,” you replied, turning your head to face his direction.

“I have something to tell you,” he says, stopping his steps, making you do the same.

“Go ahead,” you told him. Jiseok takes your other hand in his, now holding both of your hands.

“I like you,” he confessed. “I never wanted to be your rival or another best friend. I just wanted to be your boyfriend,” he revealed. A blush creeps its way onto your face, making you look down at your shoes. You took a breath looking back up to Jiseok.

“I want you to be my boyfriend too,” you admitted, swinging your laced hands a bit.

“Really?” he asked, eyes wide, grip on your hand tightening.

“Yes, I like you too, Jiseok. I want you to be my boyfriend,” you tell him.

“Then I am. I’m officially your boyfriend,” Jiseok declares. 

“Perfect. I’ll have to change your contact name now,” you say.

“What is it now?” he asked.

“Rival with a smiley face,” you informed, beginning to walk again.

“You really liked calling me that, didn’t you?” he chuckled

“Yeah, but I like being able to call you boyfriend better,” you said.

I can see how you can be confused, but you are mistaken. What TaeDo have is impossible to fake. They may not meet for 10 years and still maintain the bond. Yes, they sometimes brandish the friendship for entertainment, and Taeyong likes to use being before cameras to annoy Doyoung, but it's just one part of their dynamic.

You simply haven't seen enough of the two. Their vlives, their trainee stories, their moments during award ceremonies and on shows. Taeyong was to Doyoung's house in Guri (and we learnt about it years later), TaeDo were noticed shopping by fans multiple times. Doyoung searched for pictures of Tae's tattoo of his deceased dog to gift Tae a custom-made golden pendant based on the drawing, and returned home from his vacation earlier because Tae was lonely in the dorms. It's not fanservice.

As for "practiced how to say hello", it's Doyoung's type of humour. TaeDo dynamic is "I hate him", Tom&Jerry.

Yes, they are very busy. And it's very difficult to meet with adult working friends unless you live on the same street. Both TaeDo were working on their solos before that vlog was shot. Doyoung uses content production to create opportunities to meet. Mok2U is a prime example. Meeting with Ryo is an example.

Real friendships are based on mutual support and understanding, not having parties and going to the movies. Those kind of "fun to hang out with" friends dissapear first when you are in a trouble.

8. Do you prefer the beginning, middle, or end of a story?

This is such a good question. I had to think about it for a bit, because hell do I love a good opener. But I think for me it's the middle - that's where all the development happens, it's where we get the gasps and the heart, and I love leading up to the denouement. I love a good ending too, but if I think back to the moments I remember most in my reading (so I hope its similar with my writing), those special moments are definitely somewhere in the middle of the sandwich where the drama happens!

16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?

I've got a few. My brain can only hold on to one "big" fic at a time. While I do have that one planned in my head, it's nowhere near completion so I'm not ready to share the concept for it. From a point of view of shorts - there's always at least 4-5 brewing. I'd like to keep working through FishTank Week. I want to send Gordon and Virgil back to the yarn shop. I want to write how Gordon is a different GM from John, and at some point I want to write some more Scott to branch out from my usual green and yellow.

20. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

Besides FishTank and Gordon's hydrofoil accident? Yes, of course.

I am a little obsessed with how emotions are shown through breathing, so I will use often lean into what the lungs are doing. Besides an occasional "he breathed" you might see gasping, heaving, an inhale through the teeth, some breath hitching, or obvious dialogue staggering. It's definitely an emotive image for me, and helps a lot with those scenes where I write Gordon meditating underwater or holding his breath to test himself. There's a lot of emotion behind it.

I know I linger on eyes as well, and you've definitely seen either honey or amber once per story. "Chocolate and Hazel" was named as such so I didn't forget Mr. Everett's eye color, fun fact.

And this is more a structuring thing - but when I have an AU that's so different from the main story, I tend to like *makes hand motion* swoop in like it's a movie. Most of Privateers starts somewhere in the scenery and then kind of zooms in to a figure or a moment.

I know barely anything about TLOVM (it's based off a dnd thing right?) but I've seen your posts about it and it looks really cool. Do you know where I can watch it? Also since it's based on something, do I need to have any prior knowledge before watching?

1. Yes, it’s based on a D&D thing—Critical Role, the thing where (if you follow me to see) I reblog gifsets of a bunch of people sitting at a table talking and making faces. Critical Role, live-streamed Thursday evenings, is currently in its 3rd long campaign. The Legend of Vox Machina is based on its first campaign. It was the first big live-streamed long-form story TTRPG, inspiring The Adventure Zone, Dimension 20, and many others.

2. Amazon Prime! And illegal websites I’m sure. But Amazon bought the animated show rights to C1 (Vox Machina)—and recently the animated show rights to C2 (the Mighty Nein) and a movie for ??. Fun fact: this happened after CR did a Kickstarter for 2 episodes of animated Vox Machina and it blew through every goal so hard ($1 mil in the first hour, $4 mil in the first 24 hours, iirc $11.8 mil by the end of the campaign) that they ended up committing to a full season…then Amazon bought them for 2… This all started as 1 guy’s birthday party game….

3. No prior knowledge is required at all! They are, of course, changing some plot lines, leaving out many details, etc. as they adapt from a 3-year D&D campaign of ~4 hours a week, ~45 weeks a year. But it’s very smoothly done imo. And one of the glorious things about the show is that the core cast are all the original D&D players, because they are all professional voice actors—enhancing the tabletop game and HELLA enhancing the animated show, because they’ve been able to keep a LOT of creative control.

1.5. It IS really cool. I’m very glad that these characters, world, etc. are now available in a much more generally enjoyable medium than 4-hour D&D live plays, which objectively only insane people watch. I hella suggest watching it!

Book Review because I'm Bored (1)

Ok, you're still here, let's gooooo!

I was drawn in by the cover, the queen's face with the thorns around it, and bought it immediately. An origin story for the Queen of Hearts? Sold! Also, I do that quite a lot, I read the last paragraph and that made me wanna buy it right on the spot.

The story grabbed me and never let me go till the end, the scenes that were introducing the characters were top-notch. I didn't expect the action to be this good, to be honest. When I read that it includes a love story I kinda rolled my eyes a bit because love stories in many books are meh but if they are written properly then yes hit me up. And this one was good.

I was rooting for Catherine and Jest to escape and live their life and I can't count the times that I screamed at Catherine's cowardness and not taking her life into her hands despite her place in society. Someone will say that it wouldn't be easy but she needed to try and fight more! I hate it when people in books and in real life go down like that! Also, her mother can shut the Hell up. QUIET YOU OLD HAG! She was the typical oppressive mother that you want to scream at till your vocal cords bleed and put her in her place and show her that you are not a kid anymore but a person with feelings, needs and dreams.

I could talk about her mother for hours but I need to continue!

The Mad Hatter stole the show for me, his scenes were wild and entertaining and I actually used the scene where Kath asks him to become her business partner for a university project. That's how much I liked it. He was an antihero a bit in my eyes but still meant well and he did nothing wrong! NOTHING! Those pumpkin seeds were planted there by accident! He did nothing wrong! Also as I was reading his parts I could only see him as Undertaker from Black Butler XD I don't know why but it fit somehow XD

ANYWAY!

The secondary characters were fun and interesting too, especially Cheshire but he gets a pass because he is my favourite in general. Cheshire is there for the gossip and helps only when it suits him and this is very clear in the final act of the book.

The Kingdom of Hearts was full of people that wanted to have fun and not take themselves seriously and the King is a prime example of that. He wasn't bad or evil but really out of place. And when you have to deal with a threat, you need to be serious. And so needed the people of the kingdom.

Sir Peter was a scary enemy, the scenes with him and his wife sent chills down my spine because I could feel that these two were up to no good. And I knew his wife was the Jabberwock. I just knew it and it was confirmed when he built a giant pumpkin cage. Like, who are you putting in there Peter? //__-

Also, I didn't really understand how time works in Chess and in the Kingdom of Hearts so I need to read these parts again. But it had a nice touch, I was very anxious at some parts that time would run out. I don't know XD

At some point, Jest suggested a solution to their problem, telling Cath if they do a chess move the war will stop and they could live together in Chess. Yes, they were supposed to do a chess move and that part fried my brain because I don't know chess. I only know the pawns' names. And that's enough.

Now let's talk about the Sisters!

First of all, I loved how the author used the concept of the number 3, Fate and Fates from Greek mythology and the concept we have for Fate and I will share it with you: No matter what you do you will never escape it or change it, you will just stall it for a bit till she finds you again and I loved that! And I'm pretty sure you have heard about the number 3 and its meaning in folklore and myths.

Oh my Ghoul, I couldn't put the book down from chapter 42 till the end. It had gone dark and I loved every second of it, it was a horror movie on its own! When Jest, Catherine and Hatter entered their domain and the Sisters started asking for the heroes to hand them over something till the end in the courthouse I wasn't breathing from the anticipation. I felt trapped in that place too.

The journey and the desperation of Cath to change her fate and her transformation from a girl in love with dreams to a heartless creature was so macabrely beautiful and I didn't expect Jest to die to be honest, I thought he would survive but the pictures the Sisters had drawn were not there just for decoration. But his death should have been more dramatic. Give us the ANGST, HURT/COMFORT Marissa! But I feel like his decapitation was symbolic given the fact that's the Red Queen's choice for the whole series.

The change in Catherine's character it's amazing, she basically says to everyone who was controlling her life that making her the Queen will be the biggest mistake they ever made. And how far she was willing to go to find Peter and bring him to justice. I wanted her to be more cruel and don't hold back the things she wanted to say to everyone after the final battle but she didn't! I was like "Girl! They screwed you over! Scream at them, don't hold back! Make them cry! YOU DON'T HAVE A HEART ANYMORE!". But what ended up happening, in my opinion, was ok.

I visualize everything when I read and this made the experience so much better. I really loved the book and I hope Marissa Meyer writes more fairytale-inspired origin stories because she is so good. And the villain of the story for all of us XD

They looked at the newspaper that clued them into where they were and more specifically what time.

1994 New York City

Over 30 years in the past from what time period the world they got stranded in was. It was all confusing, not the potential time travel or parallel world thing, all that was actually fairly standard for Trainer. The problem was if this was time travel or a parallel universe. Thankfully Trainer knew that this was a world that had Transformers because of some old pictures, footage, and news articles that went over strange creatures and the pictures and footage showing what was definitely a Transformer even if it was blurry or unfocused. Optimus and Ratchet told Trainer how too spot signs of Transformers as when they first enter a new planet with intelligent life their is brief period where some may be a bit clumsy about staying hidden at first. Rotomdex was able too closely inspect and make out the Transformer that was caught on the pictures.

Which helped in narrowing down what world this was, now how too tell if this was a alternate universe or timeline, because Bumblebee was hear for quite awhile before signaling the other Autobots that the map too the All Spark was found.

Well it's not like Trainer and Rotomdex were gonna get answers sitting there. Trainer would take a quick ride on Koraidon through the city for a bit and see if Rotomdex could catch an Autobots signal frequency and put out a another request for communication on Autobots frequency as Rotomdex had been trying for the past couple of hours but was met with silence. If they got nothing by the end of the night than Trainer and the others would head back too their world, regroup, and try and travel through a Ultra Wormhole again.

Is there something on your mind? Since you asked, yes a lot. It seems I have developed a crush on one of my work colleagues. I must make it clear that this crush is based on me idealising him because I really don't know him and as my friend rightly pointed out, if I got to know him, the crush would probably dissipate. There are already red flags but I can't help I like his face and while there is a chance the crush could be cured, there is also the danger that it grows.

What turned from a silly little crush, in which I thought he thought nothing of me, has now developed into something real and scary. I went to a party for one of my colleagues and another one of my colleagues suggested that me and said crush would be good together. I pointed out the obvious that he is taken and my colleague suggested that is was a rocky taken. Then throughout the night I could see what could be deemed as hints that said crush likes me back. The party was defo a turning point and has me questioning everything. Trying not to lose my head and I think writing it out is helping to try and rationalise it all.

Ironically, I had a meeting with my manager today in which she pointed out that this job is a stepping stone for my career and to not lose sight of that. I can't imagine she knows about my crush but she was so on the nose when she mentioned her daughter's career journey and how it was interrupted by guys. When was the last time you went to the dentist? middle school, i think (i turn 23 in a few months). my family no longer has dental insurance and i can't afford out-of-pocket, but i know it's bad i haven't gone in so long.

Are you happy with your upbringing? Yeah, for the most part. The only thing I’d change is the amount of time I had to spend in childcare, as I never enjoyed it and always felt like I never got a break from school (as my holiday childcare was at school). But as an adult I can see that my parents had to work.

Who was your first best friend? A girl named Lucy. Who was your first love? A boy named Joshua.

Did you ever attend any school dances? Yeah, a few of them.

Did you play any sports growing up? Yeah, I had no choice lol. I went to private schools that were really focused on sports - we did rounders, tennis, athletics, cross-country, hockey, netball and volleyball, as well as non-team sports like trampolining and dance.

Did you have a special blanket when you were younger? I did indeed - I have no idea where it is now though. I think it might be at my parents’ house but I couldn’t be certain.

What movie reminds you of your childhood? The Lion King, Pocahontas, The Land Before Time.

Were you a picky eater as a child? No, I was pretty adventurous. The only foods I remember hating were mushrooms and spinach, as well as anything too spicy.

What’s your favorite memory with a family member? Skiing holidays in Canada with both my parents. I remember getting tonsillitis there once and my parents took it in turns to ski and look after me - I was allowed lots of strawberry ice-cream and my dad bought me a massive, solid chocolate dinosaur to take home lol.

Did you ever have to share a bedroom? No. I mean, I might have done as a newborn but that’s it.

Are there any smells that remind you of the past? Boiled white rice.

Did you play outside or inside as a child? A mixture of both. I never really liked getting dirty but I did have a slide and a paddling pool in the garden as well as a swing-ball set. My dad was quite active and took me bike riding or to play football too. But I liked imaginary games inside too, and also just reading or playing with my toys.

What was your first favorite song? Wannabe by the Spice Girls is the first song that I remember liking properly, but I’m sure I liked other kids stuff before then too.

Who is your favorite musical artist? I go through phases, but that the moment, probably Dolly Parton.

Do you have any pets? We do indeed.

If so, how many and what kind? A beagle and three black cats.

If so, do you like it? It’s infinitely better than being employed, but of course it has it’s downsides too. But overall, I wouldn’t swap it for anything.

Do you have any long-term goals? Not really, I tend to just live life as it happens.

Where would you like to be in your career five years from now? I don’t really plan my future, I just live each day as it comes. You never know what’s around the corner so planning too much just seems a bit silly to me.

Do you think you’ll ever move from the city you’re in? One day, sure.

How do you hope your life will look in 10 years? As long as I’m happy, I’m not really that fussed about anything else.

Where can I watch the Horrible Histories movie?

In short: in the UK at least it’s on BBC IPlayer (occasionally) and Amazon Prime and can be bought or rented in loads of places. If you can’t watch it on IPlayer or Prime it’s probably a better deal to buy a DVD on eBay instead of a digital copy. It’s also available through some less official channels if you can’t access any of those options. Below the cut is a ramble about the different options and also explaining the less official channels a bit more. I also mention different languages and accessibility.

After Heartstopper came out last year there was a wave of people who wanted to watch the Horrible Histories movie and didn’t know how. Maybe there’s still some people out there who want to watch it and maybe when the next season of HS comes out there will be another wave. So I’ve made a list of places you can find it. I’m from the UK so some of these ways I can access it might not be available to people in other countries.

Note: If none of these options work for you, send me a message, I've got a Google Drive with the movie on it but I don't wanna put the link to that just out in the open.

BBC IPlayer: It’s sometimes on BBC IPlayer. It isn’t currently (as of March 5th 2023) but I will update this post whenever that changes. I’m not sure how BBC IPlayer works outside of the country, I think I’ve had trouble with it when I’ve traveled abroad before, probably because of the TV license stuff. If you’re outside of the UK, maybe try accessing BBC IPlayer with a VPN if you have one, I’m not sure if it would work because I think they force you to make an account with your postcode. When you get the "do you have a TV licence?" popup just say yes, you don’t have to prove it and they can’t check (I think you can only get in trouble for not having one if you’re living in this country and you fail to pay for it).

This only has the English version but it has subtitles and an audio description option which I think is only available on IPlayer. Potentially the subtitles have options other than English but I can’t remember, I’ll change this when I can check it the next time it goes on IPlayer. Interesting thing about the IPlayer version is that the credits are sped up to fit the film into an 1 hour 30 minutes time slot, this means that the line “two sides to every tale” from Time Flies doesn’t match up with Atti and Orla’s faces in the credits like it’s supposed to.

Amazon Prime: It’s also available on Amazon Prime. It got taken off for a couple months in 2021 but it’s been back on there for ages now. I know that it isn’t just on UK Prime but I’m not sure which countries have it and which countries don’t. If you can’t find it on Prime in your country, try a VPN.

Prime has it in English and also dubbed into French, Spanish, Italian and German, with subtitles for each of these languages.

(A note on VPNs since I’ve suggested them twice now: I’m sure a lot of them you can get a free trial so even if you don’t have a VPN it might still be an option.)

Other Streaming Services: It’s available to rent and buy on YouTube/Google Play Movies, Apple TV, Rakuten, Sky Store and probably some other ones I’m forgetting. Typically the renting price is £2.50, except for on Apple TV and Sky Store where it’s £3.50. You can usually buy it for £6, I’ve seen it for £7 and £8 before.

Unfortunately, I’m less certain about languages and accessibility with these options. I do know for certain though that the YouTube version does not have subtitles, so if you need them avoid that version.

DVD: This one might also be a UK-centric recommendation, but there are so many copies of the movie selling on eBay, and usually for less than it can be purchased for digitally. On eBay the movie sells for around £2-4, compared to £6 on streaming services. On top of that it comes with bonus features that you can’t get with the digital versions. I would really suggest getting it second hand, there's probably a good few copies in charity shops for around £1 as well, but you can still get it new in places like HMV and on Amazon for around the same prices as digital purchase if you want.

I can’t play my DVD right now to check, I’ll change this part when I can, but I think this version does have subtitles. The back of my copy seems to suggest that it’s only in English (both audio and subtitles). I also think there was a separate DVD that was released in Australia, I presume it’s the same as the UK DVD with a different cover but I can’t be sure.

(Another note, because apparently I’m full of them today, I’ve been meaning to find a way to post the bonus features somewhere so people who don’t have the DVD can watch them, I’ll probably get round to it eventually.)

Other Free-er Options: If none of those options are available to you because you’re outside of the UK or can’t afford them, I also know some other places where the movie is available. For all of these places: please be careful using them!!

First of all, it’s definitely on soap2day, I’m not sure about any other specific websites like that though (but it’s probably worth a look). Soap2day has subtitles. If you search up “糟糕历史大电影：臭屁的罗马人”, there are quite a few websites with the movie in full, in English with Chinese subtitles that can be turned off, though most of them probably don’t have English subtitles.

If you’re looking for it in another language then I’ve seen it on websites in French, German and Spanish before but they tend to refer to the movie by its English name so I’m not sure exactly how to find it in those languages. It’s available in quite a few places in Russian, often with Russian subtitles, if you search “Ужасные истории: древние римляне”. This is kind of a weird thing considering that I don’t think the movie was ever officially dubbed into Russian.
