Buck & Eddie: The Announcement

Still here! - 6x13 "Mixed Feelings"

I've posted several times about how 6x13 was the finale for me since the rest of the season COULD AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN YEETED TO THE SUN AND OBLITERATED but I digress.

The video above includes two scenes, one from 6x9 "Red Flag" and the other from 6x13 "Mixed Feelings". I've combined them to illustrate how they might be related. When Buck joined the team while they were sitting on the rooftop in 6x9, Eddie asked him, "Would you prefer an announcement?" and Buck replied, "Uh... I would" with the first scene from 6x13 when Bobby said, "Over here guys" because it seems like these were subtexts for the announcement of Buck & Eddie.

I've already completed two posts; one for 6x8 regarding the comment Buck made about "Raining Men" (linked here) and one that includes all six scenes of Buck and Eddie, Buck and Chris and the Buckley-Diaz Family for 6x13 (linked here). Also, I've mentioned before how I've watched 6x13 numerous times and each time I've watched it, I've noticed something new. The last time it was Bobby's comment of "Over here guys" that caught my attention because it reminded me of Eddie's question to Buck in 6x9 about if he wanted an announcement that prompted this post. It appears it may have been included as part of "the announcement" for Buck and Eddie too in addition to the "Raining Men" subtext that was included in 6x8, 6x9, 6x10 and 6x13.

Some may be asking, why is this important?

Well... it's important because IIRC, Buck and Eddie have NEVER entered the scene of a call LATE when they were with the 118. The entire team arrives at scenes together, they always have. The only time Buck and Eddie showed up to a call "late" or "just in time" was in 4x13 "Suspicion" but reminder, Buck wasn't in uniform and the 118 wasn't there since Eddie called it in and the 133 was dispatched 👀. Therefore, that scene was eliminated from this analysis.

Also, Captain Mehta was in 6x13 too (exactly two years later following the shooting - detailed post about Captain Mehta in 6x13 linked here) and I've been wondering why he was there if all they wanted him to do was play poker.

I've never believed that was it because reminder, Captain Shore was the 133's captain in 5x16 "May Day" and if the show wasn't trying to tell the audience something, she would have been at the poker table with Chief Williams (another person the audience hadn't seen since season 2 during the earthquake).

Eddie's and Buck's "late" arrival prompted A LOT of unanswered questions for me and I've listed some of them below.

Why were they late?

Where the heck were they?

Were they together? (Since they entered together, I think they were.)

What were they doing? 👀👀

Why didn't they enter the scene with everyone else?

Did Bobby know where they were?

If so, why didn't he call for them sooner?

Is it possible the way Bobby called them along with the way they entered the gym was the announcement about them becoming a romantic couple?

Based on the way season 6 ended, it seemed like the "RUSHED" and messy bridge collapse wasn't supposed to end the way it did and I've often wondered why Bobby was underneath the rubble instead of SOMEONE ELSE (based on the first set of BTS pics that were released, I have an idea of who it should have been but for some reason, it was all changed. Goodbye FOX network and hello ABC) especially since Bobby was trapped under Metro Dispatch's roof in 5x16. The storyline shouldn't have been for him because the team had already worked to get him out of the rubble in season 5 and it was significant then but not so much at the end of season 6. None of the rest of the season made any narrative sense and it's possible it never will if they continue the mixed up and forced narrative they threw in at the last minute for season 7.

It would have been easier if 9-1-1 would have just told the audience what they wanted them to know instead of expecting people to do mental gymnastics to figure things out but... anyway. Was Buck's and Eddie's entrance in 6x13 part of "the announcement" regarding them becoming a CANON couple? Only the showrunner(s), writers and producers know the answer to that question and HOPEFULLY it will be answered in season 7.

What they don't tell you though is that its actually satellite/teleport Jikook. Jimin does it too its not just JK. If, JK doesn't find Jimin and stand next to him, alot of the times Jimin will bridge that gap..or call him over.

Like for example Bon voyage season 4 was full of satellite Jimin. Its mostly coz JK had just gone through some shit but yeah, loads of satellite Jimin in sn 4. Like that one time they were eating. JK was all the way across the table standing next to Jin.

I've talked about this moment before but I didn't have the clip for it at the time. See the thing with JK is, he will try to be subtle when he wants to sit next to Jimin. And sometimes he gives up when he can't make it. Like the moment on this post. But Jimin, Jimin has no chill. If he wants to be next to JK he will make it happen. Here he is yeeting Jin off "his" chair.

OK BUT. AU IDEA.

Since at this point it probably COULD be canon-What if the Jerma Dollhouse was a previous Showfall special and Gl!Jerma was a PREVIOUS HERO LIKE RANBOO?? And later since the fans must have voted to keep him around he becomes the puzzler and he’s been trying to secretly get contestants out of Showfall if he can by fake ‘killing’ them on his show- (I know this bit is VERY not canon but it’s an AU for a reason and just a fun concept-) and THAT’S WHY HE LEFT RANBOO A WAY OUT BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN IN THAT POSITION TOO A LONG TIME AGO. Perhaps-maybe the reason he isn’t completely controlled is HIS DEVICE IS BROKEN (possibly earpiece-a reference to the BTS videos that mentioned Jerma’s earpiece was broken-), potentially since that segment in Jerma Dollhouse where one of the demon things yeets him out a window?

My favorite thing about lucid dreaming is how absolutely stupid a realization can be...

I dreamt that some new Atsushi pics had shown up right here on Tumblr, pics from right before his death. How did I know? Because he had a tattoo and we all know that he got that tattoo right before his death (sure, brain)

It was a cute tat tho, he had the 5 Abracadabra BT plushies tattooed on his shoulder, all next to each other in a row, their... hands? Touching... which, thinking about it now, would never fit unless 1 or 2 were on his shoulder blade cause they weren't tiny... maybe some were back there, I don't think I saw all 5 clearly I just knew he had all 5. Anyway, they weren't colored and I was thinking about how sad it was that we never got a tour with him with the tattoo, and wondering if he would have gotten them colored... but then I spotted like a bit less than half the outline of another plush on his other arm, on the inner side, sticking out just from the back of his arm together with an empty text balloon. I was like "no, we all know he only got his shoulder tattooed, this must be a dream" and then I became lucid...

Yeah, sure brain, WE ALL KNOW HE ONLY GOT HIS SHOULDER TATTOOED. ONLY THE SECOND TATTOO IS SUSPICIOUS, SUUURE *facepalm* (or... 6th?... are 5 plushies together 1 tattoo or 5 separately?)

Anyway then I woke up and started to write this post... or did I?

You see, my other favorite thing about lucid dreaming is the high chance of fake awakenings -_-

So I was writing this post, and then I noticed my door was open... my door should not be open, no one leaves my door open. But my door being open is a common thing in my dreams. I do a reality check... yep, still asleep. I try to wake up before I forget the Atsushi dream... but I always struggle to wake up from fake awakenings... so I yeeted myself down 2 flights of stairs until I finally woke up once I reached the bottom, did a quick reality check, alright, awake this time. Speedrun write this shit down before I forget aaand post.

My brain: "an open door? We're dreaming!"

Also my brain: "Atsushi has a tattoo? Or 5 even since it's all 5 plushies, in a way that probably wouldn't even fit realistically? Nah that's fine. Oh there is another one on his other arm? Nooooo that is not right!"

Some random lucid and false awakening bullshit below:

You know the false awakenings can be good... if you manage to fall back asleep in them you often easily fall back into the dream you had before. If you don't but still realize you are asleep, it's easy to have a new lucid dream (yet I struggle to change environment and spawn/remove people so for me these are often lame unless I decide to just leave the house and find a new area... yet that can take so long that I wake up from boredom... unless I fly, flying keeps me asleep, I usually do that if I notice I am about to wake up but don't want to yet.)

You can also get back into a dream if you wake up for real but fall back asleep without ever opening your eyes. Works for me at least, but sadly this option isnt often there for me as I usually need to piss when I wake up... like now, but I had to write this post first to not forget so NOW I can go piss.
