Was dropping off breakfast for one of the pre-classrooms where I work yesterday, and mentioned that if anyone needed seconds, it would be plain toast because I was still waiting for my delivery.

The teacher quietly goes “YEAH TOAST” and I yelled it back. Quite possibly the only person outside my spouse and I that knows this brilliant song.

John presses the lever down on the toaster. There’s a crackle. Then a pop. Then a spark before the wallpaper at the outlet discolors black and there’s a small wisp of smoke. “Are you serious right now?” He moves to inspect the socket. “Well shit.” He goes to get his toolbelt from the pile by the door, muttering to himself as he takes the screws out of the wall plate. By the time he leaves for work there’s a new hole in the drywall where the replacement wiring needs to go. The bread’s still in the toaster.

Fish talk.

Price likes rainbow trout that he cooked himself in garlic and butter in a ration tin over an open fire. Nothin better than trout you caught, gutted and cooked yourself on the river bank. Bonus points for a bottle of something cold and hoppy to go along with it while he eats it on the river bank, still wearing his wellies and waders.

For Nik, it's calamari and grilled sea bass with a glass of white wine, maybe a sauvignon blanc from France, in some swanky hotel on the Adriatic coast. Just sitting there in beige chinos, an open shirt and bare feet, skin still warm from where he was basking in the sun all day, not even checking the bill before he pays for it.

made for a class assignment where i wrote about all the young dudes and the marauders fandom, with tortured poets department lyrics in the background. what is my life

anyways…. i’ll make a coloured version when i have time btwn finals but in the meantime, i kin assigned them all moony toast condiments and taylor swift songs:

james is jam, because the pun was too good to pass up, but also he gives me sweet strawberry vibes. he also gets the prophecy for obvious reasons.

sirius is marmalade, like jam but fancier and more citrusy, less willing to put up with shit. also assigned the black dog.

remus is lemon curd, he gives me lemon boy by cavetown energy. he’s got a kinda harsh exterior with his scars but he’s actually really sweet and loves sweets. assigned tortured poets department for the “you smoked then ate seven bars of chocolate” line.

peter is butter, a staple to round out the group, can be overlooked but definitely deserves more appreciation. butter on toast is the best. assigned peter bc… well… it’s peter.
