Hullo. I am amongst the living.

This little idea kept nagging at me, so here we are: TFP where Op goes ✨FERAL✨

So y’know that whole shtick about “they had a secret relationship all along?” Well this is sort of like that, basically— yes, Megs and Op have had a secret relationship ever since the Orion arc. Megs kept in contact because he missed Optimus SO MUCH. And the war has been going on for so long. Also they can fix Cybertron together. But MOSTLY Megs missed Optimus.

Things go along, now they’re definitely considering peace time and even drafting a treaty to share with their respective factions.

But a little bump in the road comes in the form of someone that Megs DID NOT expect to see— MegaZarak. And instead of Zarak heavily injures Optimus or tortures him, like a previous idea I’ve had before— I’ve thought of something a little more heart wrenching. Shit goes down right when Prime and Megs are about to establish peace: Zarak beats out Megs from the title as leader of the Decepticons. He retreats, and escapes via ground ridge thanks to Optimus and the crew. Knockout, BreakDown, SW, and DreadWing follow after him, ever the loyal soldiers (and they also dont want to deal with Zarak). But Optimus gets nabbed just before he jumps through the ground bridge, and he’s now a prisoner to Zarak. So to fuck with Megs even more, Zarak uses the Botched Synthetic Energon to make Op go FERAL.

Like he’s a literal beast on a leash, fangs and all— and Megs, when staging a rescue operation, is torn because he doesnt want to hurt Op, but he has no choice because OP IS FERAL AND HE WILL LITERALLY GET HIS FACE RIPPED OFF. Optimus’ optics are the striking green just like when Ratchet messed around with it earlier on in the series. (Don’t do drugs kids)

He’s got Optimus pinned and he’s trying disparately to pierce through the feral veil that’s blinding the Prime. And there’s a small, tiny moment where Optimus calms down, and his optics flash blue. He tries to speak but his words are staticky and jumbled. Megs reaches out a soothing hand over Op’s face, but unfortunately the touching moment is short lived when Optimus’ optics flash green again, and he goes back to fighting like a rabid animal.

Megs has no choice to knock Optimus out and take him to the wreckage of the Harbinger where both bots and cons have established a new base since the one is Jasper got blown to bits. So Megs is looking through the cell door of the brig, watching as a feral Op is chained to a wall, snarling, growling, and trying to rid himself of his bindings. Ratchet establishes that it’ll probably take days, maybe WEEKS to flush the botched synthetic energon from Prime’s frame. Megs, ever the stubborn mech, refuses to give up on his Prime— so he sits, and waits, and assists where he can in order to bring his Prime back to himself.

So yeah, an idea where Optimus is pretty much having to be treated like a wild beast the whole time until they can get the botched synth energon out of him.

Megop 2024 - Day 4 🌟 Role Reversal/Peace

I'm definitely biased towards the subtle anger in his face, that even while just offended at Optimus receiving the Matrix, that he feels he's been cheated out of the opportunity to do more with his life now that he's been given a choice. His much blockier, and imposing build after denouncing the Primes and taking Megatronus' t-cog in contrast to the gentle smoothened out design of Optimus. The way he feels betrayed and never does his anger fade at Optimus' saddened expression. The way Optimus keeps that soft yet grief-stricken expression of "Why?" while staring him down. The way Optimus' axe was about to collide with his head but you can see he purposefully veers it down after cutting down the cannon in half. How he doesn't want to hurt Megatron but disarms him from hurting anyone again because he still tries to make him see that violence isn't the way for them. Or at least, what could have been of them. It's heartwrenching to say the least.

Hear me out: Megatron who's walking around with only half a spark

Listen ok listen! Say he and Orion were bonded before he became Optimus Prime. When two mecha bond, their sparks become one: they merge together in complete unity and become a singular being, if only for a moment. They may know all of their partner's thoughts, their feelings, their memories, and vice versa: they all combine to make a perfectly balanced state. When separated, a bonded pair's sparks will forever pulse at the same frequency, and they'll always carry half of the other with them. That was pre-war Megop

Then, Orion Pax was dragged off to become Optimus Prime. Optimus and Orion are functionally different people: Optimus's spark has an entirely different frequency to Orion's. Their personalities, opinions, habits, everything is completely different. Orion didn't simply transmutate into Optimus Prime: he died so that Optimus could take up root in his body and lead the autobots

When Orion's spark vanishes to become Optimus, it very nearly kills Megatron. Honestly, it should have. Til death do us part has an entirely literal meaning: bonding with someone is to declare that you do not want to live without them, and is in fact taking steps to guarantee that you won't. When a bonded mecha dies, their spark including the half that used to be their mate dies with them. To have your sparkbond shatter is to be deprived of half your spark, and it is certain death.

Or, at least... it's supposed to be certain death. Megatron has no idea why he's left alive when he feels Orion's spark suddenly extinguish, but it's sheer agony unlike anything he'd ever felt before or since, feeling half of his spark rip away and wither. No one ever survives a sparkbond shattering, yet somehow... he does. Unfortunately

It's a big part of why he flies off the handle as badly as he does, being driven crazy by only having half of his soul. He's extremely unstable following the break, stumbling home to Kaon and raving madly at Soundwave, searching for a blade or a blaster or anything he can and rambling incoherently about finding and rejoining his Orion. Soundwave tries desperately to glue the pieces of him back together, but he's been irreparably broken. He somehow fractures even further when first beholding Optimus Prime: he knows for a fact Orion's spark no longer beats inside his body, and that thing is piloting a dead mech's corpse. It becomes his new reason for living: putting Orion to rest by purging the presence that's taken up root inside him 😌

I was bored and looking for fanfics to read, and I stumble across one (mind you, it’s supposed to be a crack fic) where they pose the idea of g1 Starscream secretly being a megop kid

And now I can’t unsee it

I mean, he is red, blue and light grey like a combo of them, and he also at least gives me the impression that he’s a lot younger than them

And also looking at the three of them, I kind of see it

The things that don’t look similar are just jet things, which neither of them are. And yeah, him being a jet would be a detractor from this idea, but who knows, maybe alt modes aren’t genetic in this hypothetical scenario

Also another thing the fic brought up is that Megatron never just kills Starscream despite his constant treachery. I think that’s different by the movie, but whatever

I know it’s stupid and I don’t really believe it, and this would only be specifically in g1 (because god knows it doesn’t work in other continuities), but now it’s in my brain and I need other people to know about it

Okayokayokay, I’m a separate anon but I just had to add onto this as soon as I saw it.

I’m imagining Op does still get horny, especially around Megs. But! His array is closed and he while he COULD have asked Ratchet he didn’t due to his initial Autobot loyalty. So when he starts getting turned on by the big bad ‘Con leader, he doesn’t want to go to Ratchet because that will require an explanation.

So, he says fuck it and tries to pry it off himself in private. Only to have Megatron find him…

And here we get could get a few reactions; on the one hand Meg’s could be all smug and snarky about having unintentionally seduced the Prime, on another he could be pissy because he’s now learned that Autobots are still subjugating mecha in unusual ways, especially since it’s now impeding him from being able to fuck the little Prime.

Whatever the reaction, I’m imagining its builds to where Megatron ends up ripping the array off. Op maybe hesitates at first when he realizes but eventually goes, ‘frag it all’ and gives Megs the go-ahead. And maybe in the end there’s a decent level of aftercare to Optimus’ surprise.
