Chapter 4: clandestine meetings and longing stares

Eddie tries to put it out of his mind, not think of it, not dwell on it. If Buck wants to practice, he’ll let Eddie know when he’s ready to. That’s if he still wants to at all. And if he doesn’t, well, Eddie has no problem with that. None whatsoever.

It’s easier — not easy but easier — to not think on it when he and Buck aren’t alone. At work they’re focused on the calls, and even in downtime they’re occupied doing housekeeping jobs around the station, or having team meals, or hanging out on the couches with Hen and Chim, and Ravi, finally back from covering for B-shift.

Eddie only slips once on shift that week, when the lace of his boot comes undone while he’s carrying a stack of rolled hoses across the bay and, instead of taking the bundle from him so he can tie it, Buck drops to a crouch in front of him and does up the lace for him. Eddie does not look down. It wouldn’t matter if he did, anyway, because his burden blocks his view, but he wants it on record that he does not look.

���There you go.” Buck pats Eddie’s calf before he stands, and Eddie does not think about him saying those exact words to his fucking cock some ten days ago. “All done.”

Eddie cannot catch even a glimpse of the lopsided bow on his left boot without it reminding him of Buck on his knees for him — however innocent the reason — for the rest of their shift.

The Dunkirk gifs remind me of how people just completely missed the fucking point of that movie. In fact, missing the point of Nolan's movies happens so much it fucking drives me up the wall.

Dunkirk was not about YAY BRITAIN ARE THE BEST. It's about the horrors of war, especially how young people were thrown into the middle of this believing they were serving their country having no idea what they were getting into. George is probably the best example of this. His fate isn't pointless. It was a reflection of young people not understanding what going into war actually meant. The Shivering Soldier is the consequences.

When Tom is aboard the medical vessel, he soon realises he isn't safe. The Germans bomb it, despite the big red cross on it (this should mean that it is SAFE, the unspoken rule being you don't bomb medical ships/tents, etc). It was a harsh lesson for Tom and other young men that safety is never guaranteed.

I could go on, but I'm honestly tired of the sheer nastiness Chris lobbed at him. I'm not joking when i say I've seen him called a fascist and a chud. Yeah, the guy who is so paranoid he carries both his passports with him is a fascist. I'd say he distrusts all governments.

here's something silly that i haven't seen anyone point out: y'know this section of grian's world tour? the bit where he gives himself a tour of the permit office and puts himself on hold?

so like, how did he do this exactly? it's clearly not just a cam account, since it's recorded from the pov of a player in survival mode, and it'd be pretty bonkers for him to be controlling two minecraft accounts at the exact same time.

as you can see by the icon in the corner, the pov grian stays muted during this whole segment, so the pretty clear conclusion is that grian got a different hermit to put on his skin and record their own pov, and then got them to send him their footage.

but which hermit did he get to be his body double? to solve that mystery, we can use this brief moment from the beginning of the segment where we see the pov grian's inventory.

weirdly, this person has a bunch of netherite tools in their hotbar, but also a full set of diamond tools in their inventory. what's funny is that if you look at the clip immediately following this segment of the tour, after we return to the actual grian's pov, the contents of the hotbar match up.

so clearly what happened is that grian tossed the body double hermit his own tools/the contents of his hotbar to keep up the verisimilitude. which is kind of adorable.

anyhow, back to the body double's inventory. the other notable thing, and the most identifying feature there, is that we can see a set of diamond armor trimmed with lapis! and who wears lapis-trimmed diamond armor, uses diamond tools as opposed to netherite, and also happened to be the very next person in the video to do their base tour?

I've never been explicit about this because I'm a Fandom Old, and back in the day it was simply understood that anything on the Internet was fair game to do with what you wish, but: if you see a story of mine out there and you like it, download it. Fuck if I care. Keep it for yourself, distribute it to friends, print copies for yourself and your friends, mail it to people, I don't give a shit. As long as you're not exchanging money, I couldn't care less. And tbh you should be doing this with all fanfics you love - print them, save them, put them on a flash drive or a hard drive or share them with friends, whatever. Fanfic authors these days are really fucking precious about their fics, but honestly we're probably going to start seeing queer art being disappeared (especially in the US under the next president) so do whatever you can to archive the things you love to read. Even if that means just printing them out and sticking them in a binder for yourself to read as a bedtime story.
