Leo being put into a situation where there is absolutely no fighting, just verbal manipulation and perception games, would be amazing to witness. We see a lot in the series how good he is at subterfuge and how he uses his perception to manipulate to great effect, so it’d be so cool to really see it put to the test even more.
Manipulation is one of the most effective tactical strategies of all time, so just imagine Leo putting this skillset of his to the full test. Imagine the boys slowly get up to busting bigger and more powerful criminals, including those with networks of crime under their belt, and a simple fight isn’t enough to take them down. For criminals like this, Leo’s skills in subterfuge would be deadly.
you ever think about how lloyd lost his childhood due to the tea, his teenage years to being a ninja + (gestures vaguely at harumi-induced trauma) and his early adult years to isolating himself from the world and grieving his friends? because I do
Whaat, who drew this? Cant believe it.. Anyways, did y'all know Texans (along with Californians and Washingtonians, no particular order, usually WA or TX at top tho) are Alaska's top visitors/movers? I get the other two for reasons unstated (WA a more interesting case ), but this one's just gonna be about Texans, because as an interior fella, I met Texans more than any other kind of outsider up here and I can't help but think about it every now and then so here's just my contemplation as to why it is
These are mostly my own thoughts and observations as to why Texans visit Alaska a ton btw (I find this interesting because unlike WA or Cali, Texas is much farther, so it's clearly not because of proximity reasons)
Most Texans I meet are here for the summer and fall, whether it be for the not-as-hot summer weather, getting more opportunities to hunt and fish, whatever
Alaskan culture (less so of Southcentral and southeast Alaska) is sorta known to be independent individual kinda things? Obviously the folks that just wanna be alone go to Alaska. Simple as that! And Texans I suppose appreciate the self sufficiency lifestyle from what I hear
Obviously big state to big state understanding, I think. It's just obvious to both peoples that a drive or a walk will take forever but they don't necessarily mind that
I assume it's also relating to the fact both states are big in military and the big oil stuff, similar folks that do similar jobs that come in for work
All I know is that most folks I ever been friends with were Texan, most folks my parents worked with were Texan (meeting thru blue collar works, if thats to mention), and going into town in the warmer seasons you can't not find any folk without a certain western boot or hat or pants of some kind
Maybe cuz Alaska is quite the red state, as is Texas 🤔 but I feel the need to express Alaska has the most unaffiliated voters in the nation, about 60%! I like to imagine this is why Alaska seems to be so indifferent in episodes, but I wouldn't know the real reason as to why he is
I can't really recall other reasons, I probably shoulda written them down when I was thinking fresh, so i'll maybe update this when i'm thinking right 😌
Karen: LMAO every guy I meet reminds me of my big brothers that's so funny except if Paul is already my brother and you're also a brother that's a bit awkward, huh
Hot bartender: THATS MOVING REALLY FAST AND I LIKE YOU AS A PERSON BUT -
Karen: having my brothers date would be SO WEIRD
Hot bartender: Well on the bright side I literally cannot speak more than five words to him so we aren't dating because he's so cute
(Everyone else: that is somehow the most depressing bright side we never want to hear)
"I am a glass cage of emotion that is ready to crack, and shatter into a million pieces at any point! I don't even know if I'm even gonna make it through the next 24 hours!"
"Hey, Jess? Your mic is open."
"Oh, is it?"
"Was that your inner thoughts you were letting out there?"
"Sometimes I just start talking, and I just hope that somebody's listening. There's no guarantee."
"Now, rarely is anybody, but uh, yeah—"
"Get that guy out of here! How did we even let him in the ballpark today?"
"I don't know. I don't know. You have to ask around. You have friends on the security booth?"
"Gotta do some digging...gotta do some digging..."
"Yeah, do that."
"Find out the answer to that important question."
"Right, just make sure you're back for the postgame. Can you do that?"
"I'll be there..."
"Fair enough."
"I got you covered."
"Good."
glad to see jessica blaylock (who covers the panthers when fish season is over) just upset as I was seeing blue and orange AT A SUNDAY FISH GAME. AGAINST THE MARINERS OF ALL TEAMS.
Attendance numbers werent released but the game previous was about 13k so if you can get about 13k people to unanimously boo you for wearing that jersey TO A BASEBALL GAME. IN MIAMI. well at least we're doing something right down south.
a random thought but i really am very obsessed with how deeply committed bruce is to his love of people and to the extent that it’s a regular divide between him and talia. not that she is without love, no, hardly so, but love will never come before principle for her in the sense that the principle does stem from love, but from a selfless love, not a selfish one. and i use these two descriptors purely as a means of analyzing perspective, so selfless and selfish not necessarily as moral indicators as they are often used today but merely as expressions of whether you’re acting for the sake of others or for yourself. talia is someone repeatedly acting at expense to herself for the sake of others. she gives her child away, she ends her marriage, she doesn’t say a word about it again for years despite having the chance, she takes on a high level espionage mission without speaking a word to her ex-lover, maybe to protect herself, maybe to protect him. whether those were worthwhile decisions to take is certainly debatable, but she acts near strictly from a perspective of caring about others and the world first. bruce is comparatively a very selfish person. every victim an extension of his own trauma, every grief taken to heart, every desperation for companionship so heavily internalized that he ends up pushing people away bc at some point he can’t bear to take them down under with him in his sorrow. it’s funny that he tries to be the rational voice in a room bc up to a point he is, but he also cares too much about his own personal affairs to be that way consistently
and in light of all of that i am thinking about the conversations he and talia must have in that alternate universe where damian is normal and newly revealed to both of them as a concrete concept in their lives, for bruce as the son he never had and for talia as the son she gave away, come back to them by way of fate. why did you never tell me you didn’t actually miscarry. why did you never tell me you had a son and you gave him away. why did you pretend like it was over when it never was. why did you look me repeatedly in the eyes over the years like there wasn’t something more that was there. when you said you couldn’t talk about it before i boarded a plane back home i held my tongue. when you let yourself be beaten within an inch of your life bc your city was falling to pieces i held my tongue. when my father took the contingency plans you made and used them to turn your friends against you i held my tongue. when i worked for a man who would for all intents and purposes use the knowledge of my relationship with you against you i held my tongue
how can bruce, a person so wrapped up in his love for people, not understand the number of sacrifices that talia has had to make for his own sake. her repeated protection of him, of his sanity, of his sanctity, is simultaneously her greatest crime and her greatest benevolence to him. she carried that grief of loss for years and years bc of how important bruce is to her. and bruce loves her, loves damian, too much to even begin to understand what love means outside of the parameters of his own feelings for them. that is his dilemma writ large wrt people he loves. that he can’t see the extent of what they do for him, bc he loves them too much and doesn’t know how to get out of the sheer grief and possessiveness of it
Something I love about Leo is that, canonically, he IS capable of cooking, he’s just completely incapable of using a toaster. He’s banned from the kitchen not out of an inability to make edible food, but because being within six feet of a toaster causes the poor appliance to spontaneously combust.
nothing wrong with crying and i very much approve of the practice i just don't personally partake in it, so you can imagine the expression my mom had on her face when she turned around in the kitchen to the sound of me suddenly, loudly sobbing as i started doing the dishes
Look I hate Nintendo as much as the next guy but the (maybe) oncoming legal action against Palworld kinda has some merit. There's a lot of original designs in the game, but there's also lots that very blatantly use parts of the models that are used in modern Pokemon games, and allegedly there's also some designs that are just fanart taken without permission.
Like from what I've seen the people deep in the discourse trenches are using both the "The designs are NOTHING alike!" and the "It's a parody, it's SUPPOSED to be a rip-off!" arguments interchangeably and it's like- No. No, you can't use both of those at once, they're paradoxical.
Either you believe Palworld is just another mon game, and just like every other mon game, there's some design elements that are inevitably going to repeat, in which case we'll have to wait and see what happens, or you agree that Palworld is plagiarizing and you're okay with it, in which case you can't really complain when a lawsuit hits.
