Okay before you read this final part I just wanna say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me while I’ve been on my break, I am going to try and post more content but I got my dream job/apprenticeship but once again thank you so much and enjoy! ☺️

The Forgotten Twin’s birthday Final part

You sat in the alleyway and looked up at the dark stormy sky of Gotham, it had just began to rain so you stood io and began your journey home, on the way back you though of what your mother had said about you going back to the league.

Were…were you really thinking of going back to the league, you would have to leave everything behind…Alfred, Jon,…the boys and your father.

You shook your head and noticed that you weren’t at the manor but had in fact walked to the bat burger place, you had been so focused on something else that you hadn’t realised you were hungry.

You went inside and sat down ordering your regular and pulling out your phone noticing a bunch of texts, opening your phone you decided to read Jon’s texts first

“are you okay?”

“Im so sorry I let it slip please don’t be mad at me!”

“Thank you for sending me your location be safe”

And the final one

“I love you ♥️”

It was short and simple but, it still made you smile and blush before you checked the other messages they were mainly things like:

“Are you okay”

“Dads really upset”

“Come home we need to talk”

“Please come home we’re sorry”

“This is ridiculous” you thought to yourself as you took a bite of your food, noticing a bunch of family’s eating together happily, you felt sad but also envy

Why did those children get what you didn’t?

Why did they have people who actually wanted to spend time with them?

Why…

Why weren’t you good enough for them?

I finished my food, placing the money on the table before leaving and squeezing the water out of my jacket, I thought over the things said and sighed annoyed wondering if they actually were sorry or just sorry that they got caught

I headed back to the manor and entered when I hear the boys talking, I quickly shut the door and snuck around the corner to listen to their conversation, it was…about me..!?

“Bruce you need to calm down”

“Calm down my reputation is going to go down the drain so are the boys if they ever find out what we did to Y/n!”

Oh…

They really didn’t care, of course I knew that but finally hearing it made me realise it and how much…it actually hurt a bit..?

I pulled out my phone and saw that Jon sent another text

“You get home okay honey..?”

“Yea I did…found out the truth lol”

“Truth?…”

“Bruce is only trying to apologise so that he and the boys don’t loose their public reputation…I’m thinking of moving back in with my mom”

“But then I won’t be able to see you again…”

“You will! I’ll make sure of it, I’ll even ask my mom right now!”

I exited the chat and pulled up my moms contact before texting her and asking if it was okay for me to bring Jon with me or for him to at least be able to frequently visit, I saw the chat bubbles appear and waited with anticipation to see her reply

“Yes that’s fine, I’ll make sure he’s allowed access to you constantly”

My face light up with a smile once I saw my mothers reply and texted Jon to let him know, he was also excited all that was left to do…was pack up and say goodbye I don’t know what will he harder but…all I know is that I’m getting out of this place and I’m going home and one thing I know for definite is….

I am never coming back.

every year, on the anniversary of his parents deaths, bruce visits their graves. unfortunately, the press caught sight of him visiting them when he was twelve and have followed him to the cemetery to take pictures of him and try to get a comment from him every year since

its a hard day for bruce. he tries to never miss a day of patrol unless absolutely necessary but every year since batman, he seriously considers skipping it for the one annual day he dreads the most

but then the justice league forms

the first year after the justice league is started, he barely speaks to them, doesnt spend any time in the watchtower beyond monitor duty or patching himself up in the medbay when alfred is away

the second year, he reveals his identity to the league. a few months later, the anniversary of his parents deaths come around again. he shuts off his comm. link to the league and switches his monitor duty to the next day. then he goes to the cemetery, as he has every year he could since the death of his parents

the press has never ventured past the gates to the cemetery. there was no need; they could see bruce perfectly fine as he mourned—could hear him if he let himself cry. but today, six figures dressed in black stood in front of the tombstone of his parents' conjoined grave

he falters but keeps walking after a particularly loud snap of a camera rings out from behind him. when bruce reaches the grave, the rest of the league dont look at him, dont talk to him

they dont stare at him as he hunches into himself, as his carefully formed, calm face crumbles into a grimace of agony, as tears start rolling down his face

the only thing they do is move closer to him. clark puts a hand around bruce's shoulder, gripping him tightly. diana holds onto one of bruce's hands. shouts of bruce's name is now ringing out from the press behind them, but bruce is being pushed to the front of the group of seven, his back being covered by a disguised j'onn and green lantern.

they let him mourn. for the first time in over a decade, bruce mourns, cries, in front of someone. cries for his parents and the life he could have had and the pain the life he does have leaves him with

and the next day, they dont mention it. they just let batman walk through the halls for monitor duty, dont stop him, try to talk to him. they give him space

bruce realizes then that he does have a family, more than just alfred. more than leslie thompkins, who spends every mother's day with him. more than jim gordon, who, even before batman, was close to bruce, who swore to catch the man who killed his parents and followed up on it.

Hey what's Jason's relationship with nocturna? It's the first time I've heard of her😣 and nothing on her wikia mentioned anything about Jason. She seems interesting character and I would like to know more about her.

okay I went. A little insane. Here's a retelling of her pre crisis arc, long as hell  

(this part covers Batman #529 / Detective Comics #363 / Batman #530) ok for some context: it’s pre crisis, meaning this Jason was also a circus boy. He has recently lost his parents, and was taken by Bruce, but isn’t dealing with the loss well, finding himself missing his past life. PLUS Bruce isn’t allowing him to be his partner, and that has him sad as well. 

SO he wants to go back to the circus, since hes lonely and directionless etc.

NOW. ENTER NATALIA KNIGHT! Shes a villain, think.. Catwoman meets Poison Ivy? She’s a thief, but seduces men to do the stealing mostly. 

Her backstory is basically that she was an orphan living in the streets, and met who will then become his adoptive parent Charles Knight when she was 12. When she’s already an adult, Charles gets killed, and she finds out he had big money bags bc he was a criminal. and she said. awn man i like being rich. well. time to do crimes.

she’s rlly into the night and the stars (she was the head of the observatory, which Bruce was funding through his company or w/e)

anyways. she gets away, Jason helps bruce find her (but! bruce wouldnt le him help which rlly hurt jason), and as her and her partner anton are getting away (again) batman catches up to them, but only manages to bring anton to justice, while Nocturna escapes in like. one of those giant balloons idk whats the name

the issue ends with Nocturna/Natalia sending Bruce money for the maintenance of the observatory and with Jason deciding to leave

NOW onto the next part. So in this issue we have Jason escaping home, Bruce going to court against Natalia’s partner Anton, and Natalia just vibing around, and she happens to find Jason running away from home, and they have a conversation in which she tries to convince him to go back home.

but Jason. well.

So Bruce gets back home and Alfred tells him about Jason running away, and bruce, in real bruce fashion, is all like ughg i shouldve listened to him.. well lets go get him. and alfred is like. sir. do i have to remind u u arent his legal guardian yet. u have no right to decide where he stays.

so bruce is like ugh fine. i’ll go patrol then. which he does, and turns out Nocturna was trying to help Anton escape, and well it fails, and she gets captured too. 

and that’s that for Natalia… for now ;)

NOW. this isn’t relevant for Natalia & Jason but again some context. Covers um  covers fuck a bunch of issues. SO. what happens in this time

jason goes back to the circus but is deeply unhappy

he’s still doing detective work. hasnt seen bruce or alfred in a while

alfred visits

case stuff case stuff case stuff it was the clown all along

Jason ends up helping Bruce, since they were both working the same case separately, and they make up

NOW. a lot of shit happens not relevant to nocturna. Jason isnt robin for a while, then he uses Dicks costume, then bruce gets mad at him for that bc its not his costume, so jason uses his own costume, then dick gives him the robin costume, so jason becomes robin. um stuff stuff happens and all it matters is the panel below.

NOW! BACK TO NOCTURNA! 

her comeback arc kinda starts in batman #374, where this lady is like hold on.. bruce wayne isnt jasons legal guardian wtf, is he even fit to have a kid?

so she starts digging around, asking questions 

and shes like yea this is real fishy, give me that kid

so bruce and jason try to behave like uh yes no robin and batman business. let that kid be a kid.

but welp.

and so.. Jason is taken away :( and both of them are heartbroken :( 

but u know what! bruce wayne is one stubborn fucker! and he will fight to have the legal guardianship!

and even if they’re not living together anyomre they’re still the dynamic duo in a way, which like. lol. this lady took this kid away bc she was worried about him but he still ran away.. tch tch tch.

they’re both rlly depressed about the situation

AND THATS WHAT U MISSED ON GLEE!!

NOW. SHES BACK. look at this epic cover

shes now parterning w a dude named nightshade or smth, and he like. rlly wants to hit that, but shes like um pause ⏸️✋my love is the night. the dude, like every other man, is like so im not getting anything from this? fuck u, and leaves. shes like whatevers, ugh how annoying i dont have a partner again & anton is still in prison… &  while shes again chilling she finds out about Bruce trying to legally adopt jason & recognizes jason from the time they talked

& goes to visit him

and theres also this dude, whos not rlly relevant for now, will try to stop bruce from adopting jason which will be relevant later hehe (there's a whole subplot with him and bullock but like it's not rlly relevant to Jason n Natalia) (shrug emoji)

and so. Bruce finds out..

and so the cover becomes a reality, Bruce and Natalia WILL fight in a chuck n cheese parking lot to become Jason’s parent.. and Natalia may try to pull a reverse card on Bruce

and well. Bruce rlly has no chance now does he? and turns out Jason wants this to happen since hes convinced he can unreveal Natalia’s secrets from the inside

and a lil sweet moment between father & son

and then a moment with Amanda, who, in my opinion, did nothing wrong ever

meanwhile Anton comes back, tells Nocturna he killed the dude that was bothering her, and she gets PISSSSEDD OFF shes like u TARNISHED the night by SPILLING BLOOD, u absolute BEAST, Bruce gets there, some weird stuff happens that aged rlly poorly, then Nocturna stabs Anton to save Bruce, turns out she knows hes batman, again shes like marry me to have our son (Jason) and hes like no! and leaves. While Bruce tries to find Anton, Jason is like ive HAD IT i wanna go out, but Natalia stops him

then the next morning Amanda gets her head straight and talks to Jason

but well Jason is hellbent on exposing Natalia from the inside or w/e, and eventually she gets the custody, even if Amanda tries to convince him and the judge Bruce is a better choice (since she noticed Jason clearly favors him and was in pain when he wasnt at the wayne manor)

and everyone is coddling Bruce which im adding bc its cute and i miss this relationship Bruce had with Vicki and Julia 

MEANWHILE, at the knight house. mad hatter is a a weird creepy rat bastard n tries to get control of Natalia & get the information of her brain or smth. Batman gets there & we get a Batman vs Controlled nocturna fight and then Robin also arrives and its Batman & Robin vs Nocturna, but B tells Jason to focus on getting Mad Hatter, which he does and then gets Nocturna back to normal whatever, and she again asks Bruce to marry her, which hes again like no thank u! the issue ends with this page which is rlly sweet imo

next up Anton is back but it doesnt matter rlly. a woman is tending to him, n because shes blind hes like. im batman. yeah. and she believes it. 

AND then Jason is formally adopted by Natalia

Jason is still trying to find proof that shes evil, and they share a moment. 

but jason is like. gotta fight crime! and so Natalia is like well i tried. wanna go be robin a bit?

Batman & Robin go after mad hatter, and then Nocturna joins them bc shes epic

and takes jay home bc its a school night smh

Natalia & Jason spend some time together but Jason still doesn’t warm up to Natalia which like. makes sense since shes a villain and all that, but she tries nevertheless

and then everyones most hated bitch comes back (Yes, anton) n he attacks Natalia, and then Jason when he hears the ruckus and goes to help

but gets a chop

but! Bruce was just on his way to visit them so 

fight fight bruce gets shot in the head n gets amnesia and thinks the dude anton shot & killed was him

Anton swaps their costumes n makes Bruce believe that Anton is batman not him? or smth

afterwards Jason blames himself

and him & Natalia team up to find Bruce which includes.. carrying a corpse around

for three days (well. nights) anton just runs around stealing n shit dressed as batman, n bruce is. literally chilling on a rooftop. alfred is losing his mind bc !? jason hasnt contacted him!? about what happened!? but Julia comes home and comforts him

gotham is a lil in chaos with gordon vicki vale n bullock being suspicious, and the girl who was helping anton finds the stuff he stole and realizes hes not batman.

on the fourth night Jason n Natalia find Anton

n they fight him

but Anton gets the upper hand w Nocturna so Jason jumps in to defend her

and then Nocturna defends Jason bc thats his baby

but Anton doesnt get like. killed w that ofc, and hes like fuck u i’ll kill u one day but when the kid isnt here and after batman has fallen, bye (throws jason from building)

and Natalia reagroup n well.. some things are said

bc like even if Nocturna is helping shes a villain.. right? (thinking emoji)

meanwhile Bruce finally got his mind back. not important. who cares. the lady who was helping Anton goes to the police to tell them about Anton/fake batman dun dun dun. but Anton finds out and knocks out the policeman who went w the girl (Tina!) to check for proof n shit.

and guess whos back! amanda!

back to new dynamic duo

so Jason the little rascal (can i say hes a rascal when hes doing the hero thing n trying to expose a criminal?) goes looking for proof that Natalia is Nocturna n stuff, and finds some stolen things

1. singsonging.. hes such a little shit lmaoo, 2. she was worried… pause…

anyways. they have a confrontation 

in which Natalia swears shes reformed, but Jason doesnt buy it, and is like. im gonna get gordon! and Natalia is like.. do what u think is best

but. he can’t do it..

n hes like. well shes not bad anymore.. i wish i could go back to bruce without sending her to prison which… please development..  n natalia DOES want his love..

AND THEN! BRUCE IS BACK! and he teams up with Nocturna to find Anton, but its just their luck Amanda sees them

they do sm stuff not relevant and then Bruce is like go back to ur son now, and Natalia is like.. OUR son :)

well whatever whatever they get Anton, Bruce goes back to being Batman, they clear his reputation, Jason goes back to the manor since Amanda saw Natalia, etc

(he munches he crunches) also im gonna add this that isnt relevant bc its just so funny, buenos dias alfred

anyways stuff hapens, like idk 14 issues without nocturna, the most important bit that happened is that selina is back. which she was gone. yeah. but shes back and around.

ANYWAYS! 15 issues later! shes back! some dudes entered her old observatory n were vandalizing and she was like hold up

meanwhile we have Jason calling amanda bc he well.. misses his mom and as much as he loves bruce and hes his dad its not the same for some reason

jason in every universe: i miss my mom i want my mom :(

at school Jason overheards some kids talking about Natalia in the observatory

Jason goes looking for Natalia n turns out Bullock was also trying to see what was happening in the observatory, so they kinda team up for two whole panels to find her

but Jason is like im not telling u shit.. n goes w Natalia on his own

google always taking pics

n they share a moment ;_____;

n theyre reunited.. now ur gonna have to excuse me bc i didnt download the high quality of the next tec issues n all the download links are sadly broken

but… what about natalia?

then bullock finds them

well bullock lets her go n while retelling the stuff to gordon he has.. a theory

meanwhile Nocturna.. well Nocturna is back at it again, taking charge of a band of thieves.. sigh. 

anyways, they talk, theres something weird happening w the sky that may mean the world is ending or smth, and they make up AND make out

n they have a talk thats basically like. what now? should we be together? well depends if ur still gonna steal. i need funds to get the observatory back in track (HELLO BRUCE IS RICH HE COULD PAY IT..) and hes like oh so ur gonna be a thief again.. and shes like well havent u noticed im only stealing from corrupt rich politicians!? (QUEEN) n theres this gorgeous shot

n then they go their separate ways bc its fucking batman

anyways. Selina was also investigating the group of thieves (that were like black masks old gang but he was sent to prison so Nocturna took over etc) and she sees Nocturna leaving and follows her to the Observatory but.. Jason is there too

Selina wants her GOOOONE she needs to clear her name but Jason is like. over my dead body

n well ……. the girls are fightinggggggggggggggggggggggggg

but Bruce intercepts

n now Batman n Catwoman fight and its like the girls are fightingggggg… 2! but doesnt matter look at them

and then Selina gets struck by lightning

n then theres a earthquake bc god what a damn comic, and the observatory collapses, and Natalia is trapped inside

anyways Selina is in the hospital, Anton is still killing people and knows where she is and is trying to get to her, and this little scene happens with Jason n B

n while Bruce stays with Selina Jason goes to find Natalia which is so funny like. she went to Natalia, his mom, when Bruce told him to go home and well– we al know that story.

n now its a race to get to Natalia before Anton gets to her

n its rlly sad bc like Natalia is ready to die

n 

but both Bruce n Jason are trying to reach her

and here comes Jason!

AND LIKE. the fact she wants to live after all bc of Jason rlly makes me emotional not gonna lie! not gonna lie!

and no offense but a mother’s love………………………………….. no thoughts head empty

first of all i hate anton so fucking much. secondly here comes batdad..

n Jason tries to help Natalia escape and then get back to Bruce who is getting his ass kinda kicked

guess whos coming in that helicopter.. selina freaking kyle.. the legend.. and she helps Bruce with Anton. 

I REALLY DONT GET THIS TBH LIKE. he puts her into the giant balloon so she can get away but like shes hurt buddy shes gonna die up there.. 

and. shes gone.

n Jason is absolutely devastated

n like. Bruce. as always. is like ok champ i see u got it in control, lmk when u wanna go home

LIKE HES SO SAD.. OF COURSE HES SAD THAT WAS HIS MOM....

And thats. pretty much it. Natalia is gone. 

However Jason still grieves her, and when Bruce and Selina are trying to get back together and... hes not a big fan of their relationship.. at all. But bruce tries to pair them up so they can become at least friends, since he loves them both and doesnt want to like. pick between his son and his lover

and they make a fine team, even if Jason grieving Natalia and how Selina doesnt want to take her place is brought up a couple times :(

and it gives it a bittersweet ending to the arc

and well. thats it. thats the Jason and Natalia dynamic.

Natalia reappers later post crisis but well w/o her connection to Jason.. and i really dont wanna talk about the version of her that appears in batwoman comics LOL.  

conclusion: natalia was a bad lady, who at first wanted to use jason to get money from bruce, but then she had a change of heart, and development and became a kind of anti hero? well not antihero just.. she was trying her best man. i wish she hadnt disappeared like she couldve stayed relevant to jasons story without having to be romantically with bruce? bc if u read her comics u can see that she was killed off/voided for batcat to comeback which... typical batcat! anyways. i think she genuinely loved and cared for jason and that jason loved her and cared for her right back :(

I’m not ready to say good bye to this Gamora. Gamora and Loki and Nat go down as my favorite characters, gotta say. I know that Tony does and it’s sad, but his feels more satisfying because his sacrifice directly results in them winning. Loki is murdered. Gamora is murdered. Nat died just for a stepping stone for the avengers. She has no idea whether or not they will actually win in the end.

I’m hopeful they may bring Nat back like in the comics, red room clone style.

We got back vision, Loki (kinda), variant Gamora, a new captain America, why not Nat? Yea we have a prequel, but gosh I love her so much.

He does love you Gamora... but that love... it’s selfish. It’s blind... Thanos seems to be a chaotic vigilante who is narrowminded, tunnel vision on his goal with no regards of the cost. But he is evil. If there is ever an alternate route to an end that doesn’t result in the loss of innocent lives, and you know that but you willingly choose the once that costs innocent lives, that is an evil decision. Maybe Thanos isn’t evil, but he’s not good. Far from it. He’s obsessed with this idyllic Utopia but he rushes to one method of getting there. Yes, people suffer. It sucks... it’s unfair... it’s horrible. But it is never the right of someone else to dictate whether or not said person would be better off dead. Who lives, who dies. If Thanos truly was neutral and not selfish, he would have thrown his own life into the mix of the potential 50/50 snap. Thanos is not good. He’s not misunderstood. He’s a murderer. A genocidal cult leader. I have no tears for him. Only for those who suffered more at his hands.

    “YUH DAVY” said Micky. “Come on now, Peter,” - he grabbed Peter’s hand -” we gotta advance the plot.”

    “But I’m Stephen.”     Micky looked at him with such an expression that expressed a deep amount of hatred for the author. “It doesn’t matter. You guys are the same person anyway.”

The other lads shrugged and took poor Peter Halsten Dorkelson who was too confuzzled and befuddled and bamboozled to be crying.

Okay so let’s start with Bruce. A senior in high school, he’s 17 and already started minor batman training, but has agreed with alfred that he should finish out his education in Gotham before travelling the world to find better instructors. He’s popular but doesn’t necessarily enjoy hanging out with people. Has severe insomnia and often has nightmares. Doesn’t really care about school, but does well simply due to already trying to learn as much as possible. Generally wants to do good but feels trapped and constrained. Look at this sad baby trying to act like an adult

Joker or I guess Jack Napier since that's what we’ll be going with as his real name in this. Lol this boy’s got problems even before he;s the Joker. Does end up actually falling for Bruce though, and whoop that ends up badly. He gets real obsessive ya’ll. He’s a conflicted traumatized mess tho, so it’s not really his fault. Everything else that goes wrong is his fault. Basically as close to the bad boy stereotype in romance movies as I can get without throwing up. I secretly love cliches and no one can stop me from being self indulgent . anyway he is a senior too and he’s 18 because he would 100% be petty enough to hold that over Bruce and i want to write that so bad

Alfred is there and just i feel so bad for him. Bruce is basically his adopted son, but worries Bruce doesn’t really get that. He’s so old and doing his best. Doesn’t really want Bruce to go down the path he’s going down and because of this he tries really hard to get bruce into like anything that might get him to change which his why he’s so accepting with Jack at the beginning despite him being a literal piece of garbage 90% of the time. However he realizes how bound and determined Bruce is to change Gotham. He’s just ya know worried….and sassy.

Our main friend group includes -

Julie Madison - she’s 18 -  ambitious girl who wants to be an lawyer, very obviously likes bruce, she’s sweet and used to want to be an actor but had that dream crushed by her parents, very rule driven, hates Jack like a lot for multiple reasons, ends up dating Harvey dent

Ethan Bennett - he’s 17 - supportive friend, Bruce wayne's bff, Bruce is constantly debating telling him about how he’s leaving gotham after high school, wants to be a cop because he’s seen the importance of knowing when to be lenient (his older brother's drug addiction) and wants to help, occasionally asks Bruce to go to parties with him, is just nice? Actually has a stamp collection, played basketball with Bruce in middle school but quit when Bruce did, kind of understands why Bruce is becoming close with Jack but is kind of creeped out by him, is the one who introduced julie and Harvey

--Bruce has a lot of conflict with the fact that both of his friends want to help gotham and plan to go into actual careers to do that, but he feels as though the way gotham and the system is it wouldn’t help.

Vicki Vale - she;s 16 - wants things to be better but basically blackmails people to do it, shes not intentionally bad just doesn’t get how harmful her actions are. Eventually realises she can spread the truth in better ways

Kate Kane - Local lesbian that just wants to party before she goes into the military to please her dad. Honestly just tells bruce her goal is to fuck as many people as she can before she goes. He replies that it sounds like she’s preparing for her death and she says yeah basically - she’s 17

Harleen Quinzel - lol she’s just a side character. She’s a freshman and a cheerleader in advanced classes. Has no actual interest in Jack because he’s not actually the Joker? Like she will after he’s the joker and they meet in the future, but during the story she’s just trying to keep everything together - she’s 15

Jonathan crane - he’s 17 -  hey look it’s one of the versions where Scarecrow is a separate personality - shares an apartment with Jervis tetch and his family because he ran away from home the year prior

Jervis Tetch - look at this bab -  he’s 16 - he deserves the world.At this point his obsession with Alice in Wonderland has already started, but like it’s not too bad. He is a bit of a brat and used to getting what he wants. Thats kind of why hi’s parents agreed to let Jonathan Crane stay and not try to take him back home. UNLIKE CERTAIN GARBAGE COMICS HE’S NOT A PEDOPHILE no words describe the hatred I feel for whoever started that god awful fucking trend

Selina Kyle -  She’s 17- she’s an acquaintance of Jack’s, almost shoved him off a bridge once tho, already beginning her theif days, but she’s mostly just a pickpocket…..I had an idea of a running joke of her having like 10 sugar daddies, but i;m debating on whether or not it's true. She does immediately flirt with Bruce, though it’s originally just to tick off Jack she does steal a kiss or two from Bruce

Commissioner Gordon - still only a lieutenant when the story starts-  local officer does his best while every other cop disappoints him exceedingly and constantly - Tries to make sure Bruce is okay since he was the officer that responded first when Bruce’s parents were murdered - adores his 6 year old daughter Barbara probably others??? idk its 4 am

Summary: During a Movie Night at Stark Tower, you and Bucky grow close to one another unexpectedly.

It was an infamous Movie Night with the Avengers, at Stark Tower. You were all beat after a long mission, and thought that a night in was well needed.

“Girls turn tonight boys.” Nat said, matter-of-factually. Tony growled. “Oh come on. Last time you guys picked and it was awful. I wanted to rip my eyes out.” 

You cleared your throat. “Uh, hate to break it to you Tony...but Sam picked the last movie and it was Saw II.” Sam chuckled. “Oh yea. That was just wrong on so many levels.” Steve chuckled on the side of Sam.

Nat walked over to you, currently wrapped up in a blanket. “Y/N, what do you feel like watching. Wanda is not being helpful at the moment.” You turned your look to Wanda, who was sitting in Vision’s lap, giggling away. You rolled your eyes and thought for a moment. “Uh, how about...The Notebook?” You heard a few snickers from the guys and a groan from Tony. 

“I thought you weren’t into Romance movies.” You heard a voice behind you and turned around. Bucky was standing in the doorway of the living room in grey sweats and a black, tight, muscle shirt. His biceps were screaming to be released from the tight shirt. Your cheeks started to feel warm. “Well, I, uh...just feel like seeing it. Got a problem?” He walked over to you and snickered. “Not at all. Mind moving over, Doll?” 

You blinked a few times before realizing he was speaking to you. “Oh, yea. Sure.” You shifted in the love seat, giving Bucky barely enough room to fit his amazing butt. You groaned. “Buck, I’m squished.” He chuckled. “Well, we can take care of that very simply.” Before you started to get up, Bucky lifted you and placed you in his lap. A few oohs and ahhs flowed throughout the room. “Shut up.” You mumbled to everyone, feeling the embarrassment settle. 

Bucky adjusted the blanket so it wrapped both of you in a cocoon. You were pressed up against his chest, which was insanely warm. “You comfy now, doll?” You hummed and nuzzled into his neck, appreciating how close you were to him.

You had developed a mad crush on the man since he helped you in the gym. You weren’t sure the feeling was mutual, so you tried your best to not show your feelings. Apparently they were obvious...

About an hour into the movie, most of the boys had fallen asleep. Thor left early due to family matters, Nat and Bruce were nuzzled up and asleep, Wanda and Vision left for “business”, Tony was snoring in his chair, and Sam and Steve were out cold on the couch. That left you and Bucky wide awake, watching the rest of the movie. During the rain scene, when Noah and Allie get back together, you started to tear up.

You felt Bucky’s stare and looked at him. “What? I get emotional at these things.” Bucky put his hands up in defense. “Hey, I’m not judging. But why is it sad?” You chuckled and punched him playfully in the arm. “Because, doofus, it’s true love. Allie and Noah are meant to be and they always seem to find one another.” 

Bucky snickered and wrapped his arms around you. “So, like you and me?” You shook your head in disbelief. “Wait, what?!” He chuckled and turned your cheek to face him eye-to-eye. “What would you do if I kissed you?” He asked, flicking his eyes to your lips and back to your eyes. You smiled and bit your lip. “I’d enjoy that very much.” He smiled and licked his lips. “Well, I guess the feeling is mutual.” 

And with that, he leaned into your face, pressing his plump lips to yours. The kiss was long and tender. You wrapped your fingers in his hair and tugged on the ends. He moaned softly and rested his hands on your hips, pulling you even closer. His tongue swiped against your bottom lip as the kiss deepened.

“Hey! No sex on my love seat!” You and Bucky pulled apart and looked over to the voice in the dark. It was Tony, who was half-asleep and pointing his finger at you. “Sorry, Tony.” You giggled. He groaned and resumed snoring.

You looked back at Bucky, who was smiling about what he just experience. He cupped your cheek and whispered, “I love you, y/n.” You leaned into his touch. “I love you too, Buck.” With one last kiss, you resumed watching the show, nuzzled into the man of your dreams.

“You ready to lose old man?” Sam nudged Steve’s shoulder as they walked down the hall away from the lounge.

“I still have a week Sam” Steve scoffed. He was so close, he knew something was going on. Bucky had told him about the bathroom incident, told him about his drunken dream. Bucky had even told Steve, with no pushing from Steve might I add, that he was going to tell her how he felt soon. Steve was supportive of his friend, he didn’t push him to tell her, he didn’t suggest anything, he knew the rules and he was going to win fair and square, but his time was running out. 

“Yea but nothing has happened for the last two weeks” Sam leaned against the door frame to his room as Steve stopped in the hall. “Face it, you’ve lost.” Sam raised his hands before retreating into his bedroom before Steve could reply. Not yet.

Y/N tossed in her bed, 11:45pm it read on her phone and she was wide awake. Sleep wasn’t going to be a happening thing tonight. There were several things keeping Y/N up tonight, one of them was the fact that in fifteen minutes it was her birthday and tomorrow night the entire team will be having a get together in the compound to celebrate. She didn’t want a party, she never asked for a party, no one had asked her for the party, but it was happening and Y/N was dreading being the centre of attention for the entire night. 

Another thing that plagued her mind this late at night was Bucky. After the events of the previous week she knew he mustn’t know what had happened in his drunken state. Everything was normal, or as normal as things normally were, actually, maybe they were less normal. Bucky seemed to walk out of the room less often when she came in, he even sat next to her at breakfast the other day. They didn’t speak, nothing more than a small good morning nod, but he sat next to her and even that was odd behaviour. She didn’t miss the raised eyebrows from Clint or Sam nudging Steve. She tried to ignore it though. 

He didn’t remember kissing her, he didn’t remember her taking him to his room, he said that himself, not to her but he still said it. Maybe he’s just had a change of heart or got a telling off that he has to be nicer. 

11:48pm. The other thing that plagued Y/N’s mind was the fact that this stupid pillow isn’t comfortable and why is the duvet all twisted up!

With a huff she got out of bed and threw a sweatshirt over her pyjamas. Maybe a walk and some TV will help, she thought. She walked through the dining room and slowly pulled open the sliding door that led into the lounge, she heard the TV going, thankful she wasn’t the only one up, until she saw Bucky sprawled out on the two-seater at the other side of the room watching the TV...and no one else. 

11:54pm.

“Hey” he turned his head as soon as she spoke and sat up straighter against the back of the seat, his legs swinging round.

“Uh hey”

“Is it okay if I join you?” She walked over to the larger couch, he nodded and she took a seat at the end, not wanting to get too close to him, scared that it might scare him off.

11:56pm.

“Its your birthday tomorrow isn’t it?” He turned towards her again as she nodded, a small yup with a popping p. “Excited?” he asked.

“Not really,” she let out a small chuckle and looked at him, he raised an eyebrow urging her to continue. “Would much prefer to just have a movie night than a big party. It’s fine though.” She shrugged her shoulders before turning back to the TV. Bucky nodded slowly and hummed before turning his attention back as well.

11:58pm. 

Bucky rose from his said and walked out of the lounge without a word. It was nice while it lasted Y/N thought to herself. The conversation they had shared had been the longest they’d shared in a while now. It was nice, talking to him, it seemed like he was genuinely interested in what she had to say. Y/N leaned back further into the cushion, baby steps.

Bucky strode into the kitchen like his life depended on it, he had an idea. Bucky prided himself in being a good friend, he was constantly making sure that everyone was happy and got what they wanted. It’s why he writes two different kinds of yogurt on the shopping list so Bruce and Steve each have what they like, it’s why he takes his time every morning getting ready for his morning run because he knows Sam likes to sleep in a little each morning. It’s also why he’s sneaking into the fridge and rearranging the cupcakes that Natasha and Bruce had spent half the day baking for the party tomorrow so it didn’t look like one was missing. 

He’d been trying for the past week, he really had, he was trying to show Y/N that he was open to being her friend. Baby steps he had told Steve, get to know her first he said, then he can see if she might ever feel the same way. Steve had almost smacked Bucky at that but grudgingly let it slide. 

He pulled out the small candle from the draw and stuck it into the frosting of the cupcake, lighting it with one of the matches he’d found in the draw. Before walking back into the lounge Bucky checked his phone, midnight, perfect timing. He walked in and sat on the couch next to Y/N she eyed him as he uncovered the candle and handed her the cupcake. 

“Happy birthday” he simply said, she stared at him with her mouth agape not saying a word. Bucky started to panic, maybe this was too much too fast, maybe this isn’t what she wanted. “I just uh- I thought maybe you could have two birthdays” he brushed the hair back from his face, he could see the small smile on her own and it made me relax, “one for you and one for them.”

“Thank you,” she was beaming now, looking at the cupcake in her hands, Bucky couldn’t help his own smile as he watched her close her eyes and blow out the candle. Everything she did he just found so adorable. “Here” Y/N broke the cupcake in half and handed Bucky a piece, he hesitated slightly but they looked so good how could he resist. He took the cupcake, giving her a thanking smile. 

“Did you make a wish?” he mumbled licking the remaining frosting from his fingers. 

“Course” she smiled sweetly at him before darting her eyes back to her lap and up the television.

“What did you wish for?” Bucky didn’t know what had come over him, he wasn’t normally a talker, he never really asked the questions. Normally he was the one having to answer them with small sentences but this wasn’t Bucky’s normal. This was a now or never moment, it was his opportunity to get to know the girl he had been pining over for so long now. His entire body was itching just to know what was going on in her head.

“If I tell you it won’t come true.” The smile stayed on her face but she never diverted from the television. Bucky leaned his head against the back of the couch and bit his lip while he watched her. 

“I won’t tell,” he lowered his voice, “and you get another wish tomorrow night anyway.”

“It’s stupid” he wanted to know so bad what she wished for, maybe he could make it happen and even if he couldn’t he just wanted to know. 

“I won’t laugh.”

“Fine,” she looked down at her hands as they pulled and scrunched up her jersey, “I wished the guy I like liked me back” her head turned to face him, Y/N’s smile was gone, there was only sadness in her eyes, desperation. “See, stupid.” She turned back to the television and turned the volume up, she didn’t like that he could get the truth out of her so easily. She should have said something like world peace, but no, she couldn’t lie to him. Bastard. 

Bucky stayed quiet, he didn’t laugh, he didn’t say anything either. His now or never was over and it was written in cold hard stone and thrown at him, never.

“Do you think it’s over?” Clint looked at Sam, the two stood in the doorway of the lounge.

“Can’t know for sure but I’d say no” Sam answered, he took his phone out of his pocket and took a photo of the sight before them. Bucky and Y/N leaned against each other on the couch, a blanket each and their heads over one another. The TV was still on but now it was playing the morning news since Clint had changed the channel. 

Sam’s phone pinged causing Bucky to stir as he came out of his slumber. The two men ducked out of the room before being caught. They ran into the kitchen to join Steve.

“What do you think Cap’n?” Sam smirked over his coffee.

“You still have seven days to wait Sammy boy” he didn’t even look up from his paper. 

Bucky rubbed his eyes and groaned, he hated falling asleep on the couch. It always made his neck hurt and more often than not he woke up with something drawn on his face. This time he didn’t wake up with a knot in his neck though, he looked down at his makeshift pillow on his shoulder and saw Y/N still sound asleep against him. 

“Dammit” he mumbled as he carefully lifted himself off of the couch. Y/N snuggled herself closer into the couch, pulling her knees up closer. Bucky pulled pulled her blanket further and then stepped back. He took a deep breath, a sigh came out before he moved towards the kitchen to find Steve reading a newspaper and Clint and Sam laughing over the counter at something on his phone.

“Mornin’” he mumbled moving towards the coffee mug. Steve looked up and slowly slid his phone back into his pocket, he offered Bucky a smile.

“Ready for our run” Steve chugged the last of his coffee and stood from his seat. Bucky chugged his own drink and nodded. 

“I gotta get changed” he spoke more to himself than anyone else. To tell the truth Bucky didn’t want to go for a run even though he knew it was what he needed. All he wanted to do was sit on his couch in his own room and wallow in his sadness because right now his heart was breaking. She liked someone and it wasn’t him, of course it wasn’t. Who the hell would like him let alone her!? He wasn’t about to tell anyone about his night though, he wasn’t going to tell anyone what she said about her birthday and he had made a promise not to tell anyone her wish. Their night together was going to stay his secret.

“Buck! You ready?” Steve knocked loudly on his bedroom door as Bucky pulled the shirt over his head and moved to yank open the door. 

“Be patient fucking hell” he grumbled and walked past Steve who rolled his eyes and followed. Bucky wasn’t a morning person.

“You ready to lose old man?” Sam nudged Steve’s shoulder as they walked down the hall away from the lounge.

“I still have a week Sam” Steve scoffed. He was so close, he knew something was going on. Bucky had told him about the bathroom incident, told him about his drunken dream. Bucky had even told Steve, with no pushing from Steve might I add, that he was going to tell her how he felt soon. Steve was supportive of his friend, he didn’t push him to tell her, he didn’t suggest anything, he knew the rules and he was going to win fair and square, but his time was running out.

“Yea but nothing has happened for the last two weeks” Sam leaned against the door frame to his room as Steve stopped in the hall. “Face it, you’ve lost.” Sam raised his hands before retreating into his bedroom before Steve could reply. Not yet.

Y/N tossed in her bed, 11:45pm it read on her phone and she was wide awake. Sleep wasn’t going to be a happening thing tonight. There were several things keeping Y/N up tonight, one of them was the fact that in fifteen minutes it was her birthday and tomorrow night the entire team will be having a get together in the compound to celebrate. She didn’t want a party, she never asked for a party, no one had asked her for the party, but it was happening and Y/N was dreading being the centre of attention for the entire night.

Another thing that plagued her mind this late at night was Bucky. After the events of the previous week she knew he mustn’t know what had happened in his drunken state. Everything was normal, or as normal as things normally were, actually, maybe they were less normal. Bucky seemed to walk out of the room less often when she came in, he even sat next to her at breakfast the other day. They didn’t speak, nothing more than a small good morning nod, but he sat next to her and even that was odd behaviour. She didn’t miss the raised eyebrows from Clint or Sam nudging Steve. She tried to ignore it though.

He didn’t remember kissing her, he didn’t remember her taking him to his room, he said that himself, not to her but he still said it. Maybe he’s just had a change of heart or got a telling off that he has to be nicer.

11:48pm. The other thing that plagued Y/N’s mind was the fact that this stupid pillow isn’t comfortable and why is the duvet all twisted up!

With a huff she got out of bed and threw a sweatshirt over her pyjamas. Maybe a walk and some TV will help, she thought. She walked through the dining room and slowly pulled open the sliding door that led into the lounge, she heard the TV going, thankful she wasn’t the only one up, until she saw Bucky sprawled out on the two-seater at the other side of the room watching the TV…and no one else.

11:54pm.

“Hey” he turned his head as soon as she spoke and sat up straighter against the back of the seat, his legs swinging round.

“Uh hey”

“Is it okay if I join you?” She walked over to the larger couch, he nodded and she took a seat at the end, not wanting to get too close to him, scared that it might scare him off.

11:56pm.

“Its your birthday tomorrow isn’t it?” He turned towards her again as she nodded, a small yup with a popping p. “Excited?” he asked.

“Not really,” she let out a small chuckle and looked at him, he raised an eyebrow urging her to continue. “Would much prefer to just have a movie night than a big party. It’s fine though.” She shrugged her shoulders before turning back to the TV. Bucky nodded slowly and hummed before turning his attention back as well.

11:58pm.

Bucky rose from his said and walked out of the lounge without a word. It was nice while it lasted Y/N thought to herself. The conversation they had shared had been the longest they’d shared in a while now. It was nice, talking to him, it seemed like he was genuinely interested in what she had to say. Y/N leaned back further into the cushion, baby steps.
