Yasmin's career goals post-graduation were put to a halt when the war broke out in October 2023. Mahmoud is raising funds to evacuate their family—5 siblings and I have 5 nephews and nieces—from Gaza. His father and mother both suffer from chronic diseases that cannot be properly treated in Gaza anymore. They were all forced to leave their home in Nuseirat and were displaced to Rafah when Nuseirat was invaded and bombed by the Israeli military. They've made the difficult decision of trying to evacuate to Egypt to rebuild and save their lives.
