i read one of the ninjago books (i think it was called garmadon rulez? iforgot honestly) and it had like harumis whole plan and apparently shes been planning for a year and honestly the book changed how i saw her a bit, she even analyzed the ninjas strengths and weaknesses in the book
also morro's plan is pretty smart if u think abt it
Woaw, I didn't know about this. You must tell me the book's title if you find it or remember it😍. I knew that they are very smart and know how to claim what they (think) they deserve.
(This post will be about me yapping about Harumi)
Harumi's acting is my favorite like how her character never broke in front of them until the 3th mask is amazing. I think It's maybe because her princess responsibelities what she had. Her plan never failed and It's pretty impressive. If I were her I would definitely fail because I would be that excited. Just imagine waiting for your moment for years and now It's finally happening.
I think she's one of the most well-written side characters, because her story and reasons are well made.
If anytime she comes back into the series I would gladly watch it, because I wanna see her true self and not the "perfect princess" or the "revenge thirsty" person she was.
I also wanna know how she ends up with Lloyd. Are they friends? Strangers? Or maybe even lovers? Where did she go? What does she do now that everything is fixed in Crystalized?.
I'm not even sure that it would be a healthy relationship after everything what happened.
Actually I had a very similar relationship with a person like their's in season 7. Thinking about my experiments I don't think their relationship would be healthy, but who knows.
About Morro, I haven't paid enough attention to Morro, because I only watched it once, but his skills amazed me. I'm planning on rewatch the whole season so I'll get to know him better.
Okay I will stop yapping now. Thanks for your informing. This is my first time hearing about Ninjago books.
Love y'all<3

Hello! Can you write a Smoke x reader scenario where Smoke is in love with the reader but he doesn't realize it because he's never been in love before (not even have a crush) but he knows he strongly feels something and asks for advice on his feelings and for that person to be like "dude you're in love." And tries to help Smoke confess his feelings to the reader?
Sorry if this is very long lol 😅
Spit it out!
Prior notes: Hi hi! Not long at all. Let’s see what we could do with this sweet man of ours.
Pairing: Tomas x Gn reader
Warnings ‼️: None you silly goose
Tumblr media
There is a feeling that Tomas gets whenever he looks at you. It feels like a whirlwind is starting up in his stomach. His heart rate skyrockets to the heavens above. His mind gets clouded with thoughts about you. What is this feeling?
Tomas doesn’t know. But he yaps about it like crazy. He talks about it like a patient would to a doctor. Filled with curiosity and even some concern as if he hopes it’s nothing too bad.
“I mean, I don’t get it. There’s no reason that my heart should be beating that fast and tingling. I don’t feel like it’s a heart attack. Do you think they have some sort of power or ability to do that to people?” Tomas asked Kuai Liang.
He didn’t even realize that Kuai Liang stopped drinking his tea. He had this blank expression yet his eyes show that he was lost in thought.
By the gods, he doesn’t know does he?
“But why would they try to do that to me? Or even cause me to get distracted during training? It’s so weird. And when I get images of them in my head I feel-“
“Tomas.”
“Huh?”
Kuai Liang took a deep breath before calmly trying to explain to Tomas what he was feeling.
“You’re in love. It is simply that.”
“…oh. But what does that have to do with that feeling in my heart?” He’s like a clueless puppy.
Kuai Liang couldn’t blame his brother for not understanding his feelings. His father nor his mother had the time to teach him how to deal with his feelings. It was all just training to become a Lin Kuei assassin. Looks like he has to be a good brother and help him out.
“That’s how love works. It makes you feel things. That feeling won’t go away unless you confess your feelings.” He calmly told Tomas.
Immediately Tomas was against the idea. He didn’t even know he was in love before. Now he’s being told to confess his feelings for you? That sounds hard, impossible even!
“I will help, Tomas. There is no reason to be afraid of confessing your love. I confessed mine and now Harumi is my wife. The worst they could say is no.”
Tomas contemplated for a bit. This is all too much. But if Kuai Liang is right, maybe it is for the best to just spit it out. You never made him doubt that he couldn’t trust you or that you would ever hurt his feelings. At least if you’re gonna say no, you will do it gently. You better do it gently.
══💤══╡°˖✧🦊✧˖°╞══💤══
You were a little nervous when your grandmaster said he wanted to see you in his office. You didn’t do anything wrong, trust me.
You knocked on the door of his office where you heard him call you in. You opened the door and were surprised to see Tomas there as well. He looked a bit paler for some reason. It looked like he was hiding something behind his back. Yet Kuai Liang looked as if nothing was strange.
“Ah good, you’re here. I must apologize however as I need to step out for just a minute. I will get back to you soon. I’m sure Tomas can keep you entertained.” And just like that Kuai Liang was out of the room as if he just set it on fire. It was only you and Tomas now.
“Tomas, are you okay? You looked like you just saw a ghost.” You asked with concern as you went up to him.
He was already a nervous mess, confused on what he was supposed to do. It didn’t help that your hand went up to feel his forehead as if you were checking for a fever.
Just give them the flower. That’s what Kuai Liang said, right? Oh god they’re touching me. Why do I feel so hot? Damn they look fantastic today.
“I-I, Kuai Liang said-uh, I’m s-supposed to…” Not a great start.
In a moment of panic Tomas dug into one of his pockets and threw down a smoke bomb. Just like that he was gone and you were left coughing from the smoke. Well that was strange.
Once your coughing died down you could hear what sounded to be arguing from the other side of the door. You couldn’t make out the words but you figured out it was Kuai Liang and Tomas having a scuffle.
And you would be right. The moment Kuai Liang saw Tomas teleport out of the room with his smoke magic he told him to get right back in the room. Tomas just felt worse now and he was begging his brother for another way to do this. But there is no other way. How else will you find out that he loves you if he doesn’t say it.
“I can’t, Kuai Liang. It’s so hard. They looked too perfect today and I froze up which isn’t really new. I told you they distract me. Their hands felt so nice, is it normal to want to hold their hand? Does love make you want to do those things?” He would have said more until he heard you speak.
“What?!”
Kuai Liang and Tomas didn’t realize you opened the door when he was going on his little tangent. You finally saw the flower in Tomas’ hand which you assumed was for you. That’s just an assumption after what you heard. Kuai Liang quickly turned his brother around to face you so he can properly confess. And also to apologize for almost causing you to have an asthma attack.
“I-I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean to cause any issues. I didn’t even realize I was in love with you until Kuai Liang told me. That sounds dumb I know. How was I supposed to know thinking about you a lot and feeling warm inside meant I liked you?” He said that with a bit of embarrassment.
You didn’t find it dumb however. You actually found it cute. You took his hand into yours with a warm smile on your face.
“Love isn’t the easiest thing, ya know. It takes time. We all learn to love eventually. And I do have the time to teach you how to love in many ways.” There was a look in your eyes that was screaming at Tomas that you liked him back. He didn’t catch that though.
“Teach me? But I just want to be able to love you.” Whoosh
You heard Kuai Liang slap his forehead. This poor man.
“Brother, please, I love you but you’re killing me. That’s what they mean. Say yes already.” Kuai Liang sounded exhausted.
“Sorry, still very new to this. So does this mean now that we are…?” Spell it out for him, please.
“It means we are a couple. We will take it slow don’t worry. Just know that I accept your love.” You said warmly.
Tomas felt like his heart just exploded. He hasn’t been this happy in so long. He feels all warm and tingly inside. Everything he thought was weird and strange before now feels right since you are his partner now. This feels great to him!
He was over the moon. He picked you up in his strong arms and hugged you tight. All with a cute smile on his face. He never wants to let you go now. And neither do you. Cause why wouldn’t you love such a strong, brave, skilled, expressive, and sometimes sassy hunk of a man like him.
What a successful and productive day for Tomas. What an extremely long day for Kuai Liang. You have to thank him though for pushing Tomas to confess to you. Cause you sure as hell couldn’t do it. You probably would have messed it up more than he did. Though you knew that you loved him, you also knew that you weren’t the smoothest person in the universe. You still got your happy ending.
After notes: Those cookies in the corner of my room are calling for me and I told myself I can have a bite if I finished this. Hopefully I have succeeded in my duties in pleasing you. If i haven’t you can force me to drink cranberry juice by itself. I love this man to death he is literally my main. Gotta give me a kiss goodnight later. Adiós!

MK1 is such a bizarre experience bc on one hand some characters have benefited a lot from the "universe reset" (Baraka, Reptile, even arguably Shao who is less than a muahahaha conquer villain but someone who actually seems to care about his realm?). Others kind of raise interesting questions, like Shang Tsung : is he doomed to be bad or can he be good for a change? (In the story he choses to become a snake-oil salesman before joining the imperial family + there is an Union of Light Shang Tsung so him being good is a thing that could happen).
But then, instead of using that full reset NRS just leaves some things the same? Like. It's a reset. In 2023/2023. That was the perfect moment for implementing some (maybe not lots) changes. Perhaps starting making Johnny canonically bi? Just a small ripple towards a bigger change? Instead of getting stuck in same old ways?
YOW EXACTLY
Things i loved about Mk1 change:
Mileena and Kitana sibling relationship
Rain's character design
Tanya and Mileena!!!!
Sindel being badass empress and outworld thriving in peace under her reign
Baraka and Syzoth on the good side!!
Kenshi's yakuza past
Geras and Liu Kang's friendship! Liu Kang actually treating Geras as his equal 🥺 and Geras being so loyal to him 😫😭
Shang Tsung's zitsy behavior
Lin Kuei brothers 🥺
What i hate:
Hanzo being a kid and essentially everything about him being handed to Kuai Liang
Kung Lao being the second best again
Raiden and Kitana romance
Mileena and Tanya having the barest screen time
Controversial opinionated rant down below
I hated that they essentially just switched Liu Kang and Raiden's places. I started MK1 right after MK11 that i was furious to see Raiden chosen as the champion (IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY BOY KUNG LAO LET HIM SHINE ISTG) and then flirting with Kitana with Liu Kang's exact line (I hope we meet again under different circumstances)??? Tf??
I understand that some plot elements are too good to change but character romances? Don't replace one side of the pairing, then try to serve it to the audience again! Reboot should give us more variety of character designs, stories, dynamics, and relationships. Give us the genderbent, queer, poc characters BC YOU'RE NOT EVEN SACRIFICING ANYTHING when we literally have infinite alternative timelines you can recall classics from. For example, we have our human Raiden and old man titan Raiden. We can do variety. I wanna see female Fujin, i wanna see Scorpion Harumi and fighter Suchin, i want actual deserved queer representation in Kung Jin, and i. wanna. see. canon Johnshi!
My hypothesis is that NRS is gonna bring in mk children through dimensional travel so that they don't need to age up our current characters. I'm saying this to push my point further that we don't need to repeat romance plotlines (dont come at me. I have bais just as you have bais for ur fav old pairings)
Listen, i loved Sonya and Johnny in previous games, her and Cassie were a huge part of Johnny's character arc, but since Johnny is already maturing by the end of mk1, i don't see a point in Cageblade anymore (very controversial but it's my blog so i will yap as much as i want) We are not erasing anything by possibly making Johnny queer. Johnny and Sonya can be married in different timeline and Cassie is still their child. If anything, we are enriching the character, expanding the universe. Really, I don't wanna buy the exact same game story in different graphics. I don't want to see Suchin die again just to serve Kenshi and Takeda's dynamic.
And don't even get me started again on heteronormality of the game. We have 6 realms that have diverse variety of biological and sociological configurations AND YOU'RE TELLING ME THEY ARE ALL HETEROSEXUAL?? NRS is a fucking pussy for not having enough queer representation. They think they can give us vague "blink, you will miss it" moments and move on. There are so many high selling good games with good lgbtq characters. Literal 2023's the game of the year, BG3 is so fucking gay that it's off to space and you're telling me that NRS is just going 🥺👉👈 but our fans 🥺👉👈
Anyways, NRS can eat shit and Johnshi for the president 🤘

Yapping about post-resurrection Garmadon's quote-unquote "redemption"
!! LONG RANT AHEAD !! much of this is his redemption arc in the Garmadon comics vs in crystalized
I actually love the version of post resurrection Garmadon that exists in my head but simply because. I read the Garmadon comics before I watched crystalized and THAT is the post resurrection "redeemed" Garmadon I think of when I think of him and I think they had him really good there. But generally I think they totally fumbled him.
Crystalized just. Misses the mark. They kind of loosely have the fundamentals of his character but they don't employ them the right way I think?
Garmadon WANTS to do good. But part of the problem is he doesn't understand that he wants that at first. At the end of the Garmadon comics he has a better grasp on that, but an important part of that is he wants forgiveness. Particularly from Lloyd! And he does not think he deserves that! He also believes that he's not capable of being more than what he is, which at least from his perspective is a destroyer and a conqueror.
They had part of this in crystalized where Garmadon wants time to himself to understand himself better (i.e. "before I can help others, I must first help myself" or whatever he says along those lines in Christofern) and I think the use of Christofern itself as a way to show his complicated feelings towards Lloyd and the internal desire for forgivness is good! But then. After that. He doesn't show it. There's a difference between him being abrasive and brash to try and hide that this is something he secretly desires or cares about- which is what happens in the Garmadon comics, especially the scene with Min where she knows he isn't ACTUALLY as angry about the red crows as he's trying to seem- and just. Being abrasive and brash because he truly feels that way. Which is more what we get in crystalized and I don't? Get why they did that??
And MORE frustrating is Lloyd is kind of painted as unreasonable for not being willing to see past that! He has no reason to! If they wanted Garmadon to be a redeemable character, which they CLEARLY do, and I honestly think it's not impossible for him to be. they absolutely needed to acknowledge that it was ultimately Lloyd's decision to forgive him or not and they just. Don't. They genuinely don't. They push this idea that Garmadon is good now or is at least trying to be and therefore Lloyd SHOULD forgive him. And that's not right! Garmadon in the comics hardly forgives himself. Literally the turning point of those comics is that the enemy he's been fighting is his own internal baggage and turmoil and it should not be the EXPECTATION for anyone else to forgive him.
Lloyd is a generally forgiving person even WHEN he's deeply betrayed. Hello. Harumi. Now granted, his father is someone much much more personal to him and it was clear he was trying to disconnect post-resurrection and sensei Garm in his mind, but I don't think it would have been out of character for him to at least partially forgive Garmadon in a natural way instead of slightly implying it in literally the last scene of the last episode if that was what they wanted to happen.
And don't get me STARTED on how the fandom treats Garmadon like some kind of saint because "it wasn't his fault." NO! His actions are his OWN! And in the comics he understands that at LEAST to some extent by the end of it! Yes, there were outside influences and factors but that does NOT excuse everything he ever did nor does it make anyone obligated to forgive him
TL;DR I don't think Garmadon is an unredeemable character but god crystalized fucked up the solid setup the Garmadon comics had for it
This another crowley rant brought to you by the obviously rushed production of the second half of crystalized and how angry it makes me. That is all good day

Talk to me about your interpretation of s8/9 and maybe even s10 Lord Garmadon. Like, do you think he ever slept or ate or anything. Do you think he listened to music while driving to the prison? If so... what songs? Yap to me.
OOOOOO OGZIE YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE BEST QUESTIONS,,, prepare for a total YAP fest
i think during s9 he was extremely paranoid, like to the point that he wasn't sleeping at all, which only worsened his paranoia. it got so bad to the point that the sons of garmadon, the very people who were obsessed with him, were actively avoiding him because he would sometimes maul whoever was closest to him, just because of the pure stress and anxiety. near the end of his reign, after the mystaké incident, i think he became quite paranoid that everyone around him was secretly working for the resistance, waiting to betray him. garmadon refused to leave his throne unless he absolutely had to, watching the city at all hours.
i think he rarely ate, if ever. probably only if harumi could convince him with a speech about how food would increase his strength. even then, the sons of garmadon didn't exactly have the best food on hand, so the little that harumi convinced him to eat did nothing for him nutritionally. after harumis death, garmadon wouldn't eat at all.
he also didn't shower, or brush his teeth or brush his hair. his hair was so badly matted that he just took his katana and cut it off, which was the beginning of the awful haircuts he gives himself. his chest wound smelled putrid, too, as it was extremely infected since garmadon wouldn't let anyone even look at it for too long.
he was basically constantly in pain and extremely over stimulated and on the verge of a panic attack during his time as emperor, especially after losing harumi.
he hated it whenever the sons of garmadon were particularly noisy, in fact, he hated most noise in general, and demanded complete silence most of the time.
garmadon's entire body was constantly trembling from the pure exhaustion from the lack of sleep, the stress, and the constant power he was exerting to keep the colossus alive.
he would also have frequent, severe panic attacks during this time in particular, which caused the accidental destruction of many buildings, as the colossus went haywire when garmadon wasn't focused on controlling it. he wouldn't quite realize what his panic attacks were until he had one in front of vinny, who explained it to him.
in short; he was not a happy guy. surprising no one, i personally believe that he thrived most during the time he was alone after s10, and then when he was with vinny. he started taking care of himself better, and slowly regained his appetite.
i think while driving to the prison, due to his unfamiliarity with cars, he would've accidentally turned the radio on, probably with his tail, and i think that 'eyes without a face' by billy idol and 'psycho killer' by talking heads would've played, though i think garms usual music taste would be metal, specifically thrash metal.

Forgive me for like yapping at you for a while this is gonna be a long one, and I totally get if you don't respond to this at all and just delete it from your inbox it's just something that has been bothering me sooo much
And before I start I want to clarify this is not hate! I'm just intending to like. Discuss yk?
So in your video analysis of female characters in ninjago I was quite excited to get to the bit about Harumi because she's a really interesting character and absolutely one of my favorites. But when I did it was like you missed every major aspect of her character and motivations and it was especially disappointing because like. The video was worded to accomodate new/non-fans who don't know about these characters! And it's disheartening when a character is completely misunderstood especially in a video where the point is to explain these characters and how they are often misunderstood or poorly represented by the writers
I think you were really hung up on the idea that Harumi had any good motivations for what she was doing which is just. Not true. Harumi never wanted to help people who had similar situations to her. The whole point of her character is that she's held onto her anger and hatred to the point it's all that drives her, which is what makes her death so impactful- It's the moment she sees the error of her ways and the fact that she's only perpetrated the same cycle that hurt her.
You brought up the fact that it didn't make sense for her feeding the poor to be an act. But it does if you think about the rest of the context of the scene. I know it's easy to miss things when you're trying to get all the information together for a video like that so I totally don't blame you for this one, but Lloyd brings up the fact that her room seemed ransacked and her window was blown open. The intent there on Harumi's part was to get him to follow her so he'd see her doing something "good" that'd throw him off her trail. This is something she does OFTEN. Like when the ninja are discussing who the quiet one could be or when Lloyd is shocked by her ability to throw the machete.
Harumi, in the oni trilogy at least is consistent with her motives. They screwed her up real bad in crystalized, but in the Oni trilogy the point of her character was that her worldview was fucked up and she didn't care who she hurt until she realized that she was being no better than the people who hurt her.
I think since there is such a drastic tonal shift when we get to the Oni trilogy, you were probably unintentionally looking at it through the same lense as the rest of the series where the themes and such are very surface-level and spelled out easily so again I don't like hate you for not understanding her motives or hell even falling for the manipulation tactics she employed that the viewer was supposed to look a little more into but I needed to like ramble about it SORRY this ended up much longer than I intended ^^; don't feel pressured to respond or anything
OoOOOooo! I usually answer my asks in order, but this one is real tempting right now, so I absolutely will respond. And before we get into everything, I want to extend you the same exact courtesy you did me. I'm just here to discuss. Absolutely zero hard feelings or hate.
First off, I think that is a great, and perfectly valid interpretation. Have fun with it. It's certainly a little more cohesive than what I got out of the season. I do, however, think you underestimate how much thought went into my video. As a bit of behind the scenes, Harumi was absolutely the piece of the script I was most paranoid about missing something for, because I don't have the same love for the character as most of the fandom, so I was thinking about her characterization a lot. Unfortunately, I have in fact considered all the pieces you have presented here. I just don't think those pieces actually fit together so neatly as presented in the show.
Specifically, I think it's very clear that we are supposed to have some amount of agreement with/sympathy for Harumi. Her backstory in flashback is supposed to be very heart wrenching. We see her child self go numb at the end, not angry, it's not trying to show us the start to a hardening progression, it's showing us harumi, currently angry at what happened to the little girl she used to be. If she were supposed to be a pure evil villain like Aspheera who's just evil because she is, whose justifications don't really line up, they would not have tried so hard to make us cry about her past. The backstory is structured so that it seems to give her a proper motive. She outright states her motive in her villain reveal monologue. If the point was to highlight how far from those original motivations she has strayed, it should have, I don't know, been highlighted in narrative? Have people bring it up? Have people try and appeal to her supposed motivation, have it not work, and then realize how far she's gone?
Harumi going to feed the poor was a move to throw Lloyd off the scent? What kind of 4d chess is she playing? She's got to assume lloyd will come look for her after happening to see a trashed room in a very narrow timeframe, follow her, and then talk with her while feeding children, all so that he... trusts her? After he already very clearly trusts her? All the other examples you bring up are harumi misdirecting attention after they start to catch on to her with minimal logistical effort. This is not that. Feeding the poor would be an insane preventative measure to take with a ton of extra complicated steps, that ultimately doesn't even gain her any new advantages. At that point, it's just bad writing. And if this was supposed to be an example of how she's betraying the motives she claims to be fighting for, again, it should have been highlighted in the narrative. As we have it, it's only brought up as an example of how manipulable the ninja are, not how far she's strayed from her purpose.
Now, is what your trying to say here what they intended to portray? Very likely. That's what the best written version of this character looks like. It's the only way her arc in the oni trilogy makes sense. Which, I do praise once I get to my season 9 bit. I talk about the cycle of hurt, and how good her death is, on multiple levels, and I end with an overall positive outlook on the character as flawed but ultimately impactful until we get to crystalized. But again, that is not what actually got portrayed to us in season 8. Do not give the writers credit for dots that you were able to shuffle around into making sense. I think I make it pretty clear that I understand Harumi isn't supposed to have a reasonable motive in the review. My confusion is at the narrative dissonance this reveal has when we get to it, because of the hints that tell the audience to relate to Harumi as a villain. The backstory, the attempt at a logical motive, and the girl boss feminism twist all point us in the direction of there being something she's actually fighting for. I think they did a bad job at portraying the ideas they wanted to get across, and my goal in the review is to highlight where those dissonances are, because the writing on her character to portray these ideas wasn't done correctly.
That, on top of the basic factual timeline errors in her backstory and logistics around her plan just push my perspective over the edge for me. I wasn't blind to the points your making here, I was intentionally de-emphasizing them to bring attention to the poor writing that tried to show us those elements. My thesis is that harumi was underthought, and I stand by that thesis. I have yet to come across an argument that has convinced me otherwise, though I don't discount that there may yet be one out there.
But even if you do read my analysis as a shallow first time viewer's perspective on things(which again, I assure you it isn't), if the point the writers were trying to get across doesn't translate to a first time viewer, isn't that a problem?
If it makes you feel any better though, one of the top comments under the video is a thread of people trying to explain their interpretations of how harumi's character makes sense, so there is discussion being had about this stuff.

i’m on a roll of posting bc this is personally my account to yap about legos
i personally love ninjago because the characters are so diverse in their own: part 1 aka lloyd
lloyds trauma not just being uwu sad and they’re actually a real trust issue that makes him get angry at the slightest bit of betrayal/abandonment
he genuinely has a past of opening up to people that appeal to him in a way he’s lacking: a seemingly good person or a perceived companion like a wolf or dog (akita)
what are dogs known for? BEING LOYAL!! MANS BEST FRIEND!!
lloyd craves the fulfillment of having someone that he can count on to accept him unconditionally
he seems so afraid to accept his oni form and that could possibly be a fear of his friends not accepting his evil side that resides deep down within him
while it seems as if being the green ninja makes him super pure, i believe it means he is deep down just as angry as garmadon yet just as accepting as wu
he’s flawed and that’s the point. he’s selfless almost to a fault. there are times he would’ve been safer being selfish
harumi was a betrayal because she was someone who seemed to accept every side of him, even looking past the gi and being endlessly loyal
…and then she betrays him
akita was supposed to be an unconditionally loyal companion in lloyd’s eyes, as an animal
…so he gets angry when that expectation is shattered
lloyd hates his father for the majority of s16, but does he really? at the end of the day, he wants garmadons approval and gets jealous over a plant.
christofern😞
lloyd takes leader roles, yet at his core he’s still just as confused as to what do as the other ninja
he’s still growing up now because he never got to do it before
the jump from immature petty kid to prophetic savior was quick to us but almost immediate for lloyd
security has never been a constant for him
people only want him for what he symbolizes: control, immense power, strength
not him
the end thanks! i’ll donate 5 bucks for lloyd’s therapy 💥

Graveyard Shift AU
I desperately need to talk ab my ninjago ghost au, and I'm making all of you listen to my yap session (seriously i have a Pinterest board and a playlist I've gone insane)
OKAY so first of all this is technically a modern au that takes place in vaguely america bc that's where i live and the culture is most familiar to me but Lloyd is asian (vietnamese mother, japanese father) and technically the continent is still called Ninjago. Anyways Lloyd lives with his mother Misako in Ninjago City (like in the movie). To his knowledge, his father walked out on them when he was 4-5, and his mom had a HUGE fight with his uncle shortly after, which has led to Wu being extremely estranged from him. Lloyd knows next to nothing ab his dad or uncle bc Misako hates talking ab both of them. Lloyd is routinely left home alone for weeks at a time bc Misako is an archeologist who frequently leaves the country to go on digs or whatever archeologists do. She's like borderline neglectful but not a bad person okay. Anyways backstory aside I guess the inciting incident is Lloyd getting relocated by CPS. His mom has been out of the country for 2 months now, way longer than she should be, and hasn't so much as left him on read for like two weeks, which is a problem since he ran out of money for food, so he's been eating like ramen for two weeks straight.
Anyways a neighbor gets concerned and calls CPS on his ass, and they're like "yeah no this is fucked" so after they can't get ahold of Misako, they relocate him with his uncle in Jamanakai Village, which is probably the Worst Possible Place
Anyways Lloyd fuckin HATES Wu just on principle and also abandonment issues. Plus going from a parent who barely knows what ur favorite color is to an estranged uncle up your ass ab grades and leaving the room for an hour a day is a hell of a transition. Anyways their relationship is rocky at best until Lloyd gets shot which I'll get to
Basically Lloyd attends school for a few weeks where he immediately befriends Harumi (his stalker and a cultist) and Akita (a shapeshifting fae who Really Wants Him Dead). For now, Akita isn't a problem, and Harumi isn't... much of a problem
After a while of Lloyd getting into fights (he has a history of getting bullied bc shocker his freaky ghost powers give him demon eyes ((he doesn't know he has these powers yet)) and his grades slipping Wu makes him get a job as like a discipline thing. Instead of working in his uncle's tea shop where'd he probably get more than minimum wage bc nepotism, he spites Wu by choosing to work at a goddamn graveyard (get it? Graveyard Shift?) run by Mystake. At first Wu hates this bc it's a graveyard and also he knows shit ab Lloyd that Lloyd doesn't (COUGH ghost powers COUGH) but he eventually relents (IDIOT)
So Lloyd works at a graveyard for a few weeks, during which he meets a random stray cat he names Jade (the cat is Harumi. I promise I will explain the whole Harumi thing in another post but this is strictly storyline shit rn) and one night while he's walking home from work, he gets followed and shot by some hooded figure. One near death experience later he's waking up in a hospital after like a week with even freakier eyeballs and the ability to see ghosts. Basically, his powers were stunted by a deepstone ring his mother gave him, but a near death experience rendered it basically useless since it brought out too much power for the ring to really do anything about.
So Lloyd basically kicks off a vigilante arc when almost immediately the town starts getting attacked by ghosts determined to cause chaos everywhere Danny-Phantom-style. He denies being a vigilante bc he thinks it's cringey but his other option is calling himself a ghostbuster.
Anyways it's later revealed that someone called The Quiet One is the one summoning and putting ghosts on steroids to like. Make Lloyd use his powers a whole bunch bc she really wants him to go with her back to her cult. At the same time, a shapeshifting girl in a wolf mask starts trying to murder both of them and she absolutely refuses to explain why. So an episodic type structure ensues with villain-of-the-week ghosts popping up for Lloyd to test his powers on while QO stands around in the background trying to either a) convince him to go with her to her cult bc she just has so many answers or b) flat out kidnap him with increasingly ridiculous schemes that never work, either bc of Red the Murderous Wolf with a Very Big Knife, or general Looney-Tunes shenanigans, while Red is still trying to murder them both with equal levels of Looney-Tunes shenanigans. Also, Lloyd gets a boyfriend. This is a Problem. At the same time, Lloyd is trying to figure out Ghost Lore by himself while simultaneously hiding his vigilante/ghostbuster shit from his friends and boyfriend, one (technically two) of which already know ab said ghostbuster bullshit. Also, his mom is still missing.
Eventually everything goes to shit and the horror genre of this really kicks in when Dareth (Lloyd's social worker) reveals that Misako never so much as checked into her hotel room, which is weird since Lloyd had gotten texts from her for like over a month where she told him all kinds of stuff ab work. He comes to the conclusion that she up and abandoned him, and in an attempt to run away from this conclusion, decides to impulsively explore the tomb in the middle of the graveyard, which the ghost gang (uh. the ninja and morro. The ninja are all ghosts in this au) thinks has tons of Ghost Lore inside. It's during this that he finds a scroll about a Realm Crystal and its location/how to use it. Jade, who followed him into the tomb, tries to use Mystake's appearance to manipulate him into handing it over, and it's revealed that she's been stalking him and impersonating like half the people in his life. (I promise I'll explain her deal in another post) anyways the psychological horror kicks in and the whole thing dominoes into Wu getting kidnapped when Harumi gives up on the friendship ruse (not that she isn't actually Lloyd's friend. She loves him and Akita, she's just really fuckin desperate and in the middle of a breakdown), and Lloyd getting portalled away. He calls Akita for help, Akita figures out he's Conduit (uh. that's his code name) and her identity is also revealed when she tries to murder him (she's also having big emotions ab this)
So now Lloyd is attempting to get to the Realm Crystal/save his parents and uncle from a cult while both Harumi and Akita are chasing him and trying to kidnap/murder him. which is what was already happening but now it's three-way angst fests and mental breakdowns. Also Lloyd gets saddled with Dareth, who is strapped and has no other competent qualities aside from his ability to make dumplings. Blah blah blah they eventually have a big three-way fight at like idk a temple, Lloyd is kidnapped, Harumi has a crisis and decides "fuck wait i love these guys and i hate this cult. also i don't want the world to end" and does a 180 and switches sides. Akita is deciding that she isn't okay with killing her friends while she teams up with Dareth to un-kidnap Lloyd. Redemptions and forgiveness underway, Lloyd gets possessed by the Preeminent, body horror ensues, boss fight ensues, bam down. In case you haven't noticed I plot aus like they're fanfics and I've been thinking about this one for a hot fuckin second
Thanks for attending the yap session y'all you can leave now

*deep sigh*
Okay, I'm ready.
What order to watch Lego Ninjago media in?
—CRONOLOGICALLY
Khm.. Sorry, the little gremlin living inside my head and eating up my brain said that...
I will give you my toughts and to summarise them:
Imo this is totally up to what you enjoy and have the patience to endure. I watched from start to finish - almost, i will get to that - and just finished Dragon's Rising. But you don't have to do that of course. I will describe each "etap" of seasons, so you can choose and decide what is best for your viewing experience.
The older seasons AKA pre-movie:
This is from S1 to S7, before they got rebooted. These seasons lay down the basics, in lore and about the characters. You get info on elemental powers, FSM, the multive- i mean the different verses. They vary in quality, but i can say my fav ninjago episodes and seasons come from this era. But if you dont want to look at the crusty ass animation and just wanna get to the later seasons (for some reason, idk i can't look into your head), then watch:
S1 - Rise of the Snakes
S2 - Legacy of the Green Ninja
S3 - Rebooted
S5 - Possession
BONUS : S6 - Skybound
Although a lot of people shit on Hands of Time, personally i love it, but the story got cut in half and basicly never gets reference, you can cut that from the watchlist. (also guys. lets be real, the Chen season is way too overrated and was not half as good as yall make it out to be)
Or just watch a lore video and skip the juicy stuff
Post-movie , visual reboot, Lloyd begins puberty and finally gets a haircut:
From S8 to S13. Okay . the post-movie has a lot of misses. The simplified a lot of the characters, changed up stuff, overall very eh meh. I recomment you watch
S8 - Sons of Garmadon
S9 - Hunted
S11 - Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu (the first part is eh but it has some fun lore stuff later)
S12 - Prime Empire
S13 - Master of the Mountain
I will warn you that this is where they did the "10 minute episodes" for a while, and that wasn't a very nice viewing experience. Also the Oni season could have been really good, they just had some writing issues, so imo its overall skippable.
The "miniseries" or "why do you keep abandoning your cool storylines":
so we got to The Island and Skybound, the are interconnected and really good seasons, Nya focused and have cool sets and figures. Go watch them.
Then theres ...ugh...Crystalized.. the one season i half watched-half skipped. Why must they drag my girl Harumi's corpse up from the grave and cut in half a nicely written thing that could have given us a possible Morro comeback? Doc, why. so, Imo its skippable and doesent really get brought up later either. It does some fun stuff with Lloyd, but the way they took his dad's characterisation is icky. To me.
NEW GEN! Dragons, references, and being confusing about key lore again:
I am of course yapping about Dragon's Rising. We have two seasons so far, and the writng, the cast and the designs are peak. I would recommend watching it fully, very enjoyable.
OVERALL SUMMARY:
If you are picky about your content and want to limit what you wathc, the abobe is my recommendation. But really, you only get the good thing if you watch it from start to finish. (but really, just skip Crystalised-)
If you do wanna eat it whole, you should watch the first two seasons to get lore and characters down, then watch the movie - that actually has little to do with the plot, but it will only such you in further. Also a lot of people write early seasons ninjago with the movie crossovers. Then watch the rest of the seasons, and then the movie again, pre-S8. Then finish the og series and watch the movie again.
Oh yeah, there's shorts! I recommend that you either watch them as they follow the series, or do a recap of them every few seasons, OR! watch them after you finish the main series to get recapped on old stuff, then plunge into Dragon's Rising.
DR could be enjoyed without previous ninjago knowledge, bit in my opinion , its best consumed with prior and intimate knowledge of the characters!
To close this unstoppable wordshitting ive been up to: Ninjago has lots and lots of content and if you get bored watching something, feel free to skip the hell away. I know the fandom loves deep lore theories, but even we dont understand half the shit we yap about.
Remember, the first rule of Fight Club Ninjago is #1 - Have fun and be yourself :)
ALSO READ FANFICTON ITS RLY GOOD -

What are your ocs relations with the main cast? I'm curious 👀
It took me some time to choose most important characters and actually align it with canon, so here's:
AMADEUS' (he/they) RELATIONSHIPS CHART:
Tumblr media
Some clarifications on lore lmao: • Amadeus used to work in Jade Palace for some time as gardener, he got a chance to know Harumi quite well (not well enough for her to know Ama is elemental master, Lloyd's sibling ect). It even sparked a little bit between them, but they never got throught with it. • Ronin works for Ama as tradesman and brings them all kinds of plants (for a fair price)
LAZ'S (they/he/any) RELATIONSHIPS CHART:
Tumblr media
Some clarifications on lore: • Lazarus ventured out lots of times into the sea, where they met first Dr Julien, then Echo and then Jay in the lighthouse • Has quite a crush on Nya after meeting her in sea form
LOUIS' (he/him) RELATIONSHIPS CHART:
Tumblr media
Some clarifications on lore: • Not a big fan of ninjas overal • Works at Borg's Industries as designer, so he meets quite a lot with Borg and Pixal themselves • Met Harumi at ANS (Anonymous Ninja's Survivors) meetings and established "trauma friendship" as he calls it • Close friends with Skylor, since he stops literally everynight during the patrol at her noodle place for a break and chitchat
If you have any questions about details or anythng I'm happy to answear them!
Art requests and asks are open!

the recent ask that u got about btu got me in a yapping mood 😩 i really love btu and i think about that series at least twice a day lol
i've always thought that shuji was such a coward with the way he acted around y/n when they first got together and i honestly applaud y/n's patience for dealing with shuji's shitty treatment 😭 idk how y/n was able to put up with all of that and it really seemed like she wanted to try and make the marriage work or at least just get along with shuji but he's just not cooperating and straight up being an asshole towards her 😪 i also have a few questions and if u don't feel like answering any or all of them then it's totally fine!! but here are my questions:
1. is shuji y/n's first time? bc if he is, then i wonder how it went like did it happen on their honeymoon? actually, did they even have a honeymoon or shuji didn't even bother to give her that 😭
2. did any of the other bonten members and rival gangs find y/n really attractive? and were there any rival gangs who were also asking y/n's hand for marriage?
3. if ichika and shuji were together for quite a while, why didn't shuji marry her already or even made their relationship public? was it bc shuji's been long aware that kisaki will set him up for an arranged marriage?
4. my last question and also my roman empire!!! i've always thought about an alternative scenario wherein y/n and chifuyu's relationship actually went well bc chifuyu's feelings for y/n always seemed genuine 😌 like what if they're living together in hiding and y/n's feelings for shuji are completely gone, and when shuji finds out about all of that i wonder how he will react 🤭
again i apologize for having a lot of questions, im just into btu like that 😭 thank u for giving us btu and i am looking forward to reading ur future works, i hope that u'll have a great day 💙
nonnie im so sorry for the late reply, i was marinating the reply and didnt want to give a half-assed response so im firing up my yapgine for you !! i lovee how you love this series sm and im so grateful to always receive asks for it <3
honestly, youre so valid. y/n really did want to work things out with shuji even after her memory loss because that was her default intentions even before she encountered the accident </3 but shuji wasn't cooperative because to him, y/n didn't really matter :(
oooo i loveeee questions !!! i'll do my best to answer them !!!
1. due to her strict upbringing, y/n is in fact a virgin and yes, shuji was her first time. its alluded in the first chapter that they didnt have a honeymoon because shuji went on a holiday with bitchika instead and left her stranded
2. y/n's beauty is more understated and shes not as showy as the other girls hanging around toman (because of her upbringing). the one person who did find her quite charming is our second man chifuyu ofc
3. actually 🤓☝️ it was ichika who wasnt ready for marriage with him. it's hinted in chap 4 or 5 that shuji did want to marry her, but because of the trauma she endured from her parents (i didnt state it but they're actually dead so she and her sister were raised by grandma harumi) and her perception of how dangerous shuji was as the reaper, she was reluctant to consider commitment with him
4. OHHH i love this scenario !! i think if y/n's feelings for shuji were gone, she would 110% be with chifuyu! he's respectful and sweet (plus kinda hot too if we're being honest hfhfh) and she would have no problem falling in love with him after working through her trauma ..... as to how shuji would react, it would honestly be the most soul crushing thing to him and he would try his damndest to break them up using shusei as ammo to repair their marriage back
