okay so how much you wanna bet that Harumi yapped under her breath about Lloyd and how annoyingly good he is while working for Overlord. and he’s just trapped in a crystal, listening to her.
and at one point he was like “oh yeah she totally is down bad. i hope it won’t backfire”

this little detail is making me sick
Harumi revealed her true self and still used Lloyd’s feelings for her to hurt him or to get her way or distract him. but the moment he said:
“stop. save it for someone who cares”
she DID stop using the “you love me”, “your feelings for me”. she genuinely believed Lloyd stopped caring and moved on from her and his crush on her the moment he implied he stopped caring. she used other ways to trick him or hurt him - he’s gullible, weak, not strong enough etc.
but i don’t think she realises the impact she had on him. she herself, her betrayal and her doings. she thinks bringing his father back is the thing he remembers the most. Harumi doesn’t believe he loved her truly, because of how quickly he got over her (supposedly)
that’s why she was surprised when Lloyd said “my feelings for you were real” BECAUSE THEY DO NOT TALK ABOUT IT SINCE S8X08
like how crazy is that 😭
(also she didn’t believe his crush to be genuine because no one actually cared for her after her parents death, so she assumed he’s the same as everyone else, hello?????? 😭)

you know what’s my favorite llorumi parallel?
Lloyd: “i know you don’t want innocent people hurt”
Harumi: “you don’t know anything about me!”
-
Harumi: “join us. join me!”
Lloyd: “if you think I’d ever do that, you don’t know me at all!”
this is just soooo… soooooooo- i can’t even begin to explain how much i love this parallel. they are enemies and know each other so well, that’s just sickening

i still have so many thoughts about everything llorumi went through in crystalized. at first i was like “yes, he wants her on his side, he’s easily fooled again and is ready to forgive her as soon as she changes her mind”
but now i think it’s not the case.
btw this is not edited whatsoever and it’s just my messy thoughts about them, soooo
Lloyd never said anything about forgiveness and the ending is left for us to interpret how we want it. and i want to think that Lloyd knew she was digging a deeper whole for herself in this season and was holding out hope she sees it and takes an action to fix it.
Harumi isn’t becoming nice and good and kind, because she changed sides. she only switched because Overlord yapped for too long. she was shown to be torn between following Lloyd and Overlord whole season. Overlord’s confession was her last straw. as if she just needed a reason to leave. we know she’s attached to Lloyd, but she herself doesn’t know what her feelings mean. her redemption was rushed and tbh trash.
after everything that happened Harumi doesn’t stop lying and manipulating. but the more she spends time with Lloyd, the more she is inspired to change - not change everything about her and become someone she used to pretend to make him like her. no. but someone who’s worth fighting for. she wants Lloyd to know she sees and appreciates what he does to her. Harumi was shown to feel guilt in crystalized here and there, she’s not a complete monster.
she tries to put aside her scheming, manipulations and lies not because Lloyd asked or expected her to, but because he showed her it’s not worthless and it’s not too late for her. he’s not stupid and he won’t just jump in relationship with her or forgive her just because she changed her mind last minute. he knows who she is. and also he sees potential in people, he sees good and hopes for good.
“i’d rather choose to see the good in people than the bad”
“i know you don’t want innocent people hurt”
he knows it’s in her and he will help her if she needs help, but i am pretty sure he won’t trust Harumi until she proves she can be trusted. Lloyd won’t be fooled that easily again. he’s smart. if no one reached out to him and didn’t show him the other way, he would’ve stayed the same little brat, who causes trouble and maybe even worse down the line. and he reaches out the same way.
Lloyd also feels guilt for not finding her and saving her in time, and he feels responsible for what happened to her (yeah, she did a great job convincing him it’s true)
“i know you’re angry with me”
“i understand you hate me, Harumi. and maybe i deserve it”
he went through so many talks with his friends about “it’s not your fault she chose to deal with her pain the way she did”, but Lloyd also feels very deeply and guilt is always there to eat him alive. that alone could’ve been the driving force for him to look out for her.
people often talk about Lloyd being in love with the idea of Harumi, with the version he fell in love at the start of s8. that he wants to change her. i don’t think it’s true. he sees deeper and if we put aside his feelings - what’s left? a girl, who had her parents, who was ripped from her happy life and forced to play the role she never chose. a girl, who misses her parents and is so hurt, that she made terrible decisions. why they ever connected? they talked about other people’s expectations, about playing roles and wanting family. (she wants her birth parents and he wants his dad). her speech about putting innocent in danger while they fight villains -> again “i know you don’t want innocent people hurt”
Harumi also reached out to him and somewhere along the way she realised she wants him around -> she asked him at the end of s8 and the entirety of s9, s15 to join her which contradicts her motivation to destroy him in every way possible. she got attached, she let him get close to her. because he cared and showed her kindness. she was just too deep in her vengeance to stop. she hoped if he joined her, the guilt would disappear. but oh…
“if you think i’d ever do that, you don’t know me at all”
Harumi herself told him he doesn’t know anything about her and he hits with the same sentence. and when she does switch sides, she knows Lloyd will never choose to hurt people, Lloyd will never lie to people.
so what i like to think happened after crystalized
Harumi realised she was wrong. she feels her life has no meaning. she knows she’s a bad person and doesn’t think she deserves the kindness Lloyd showed her. she doesn’t even try to change anything.
Lloyd sees that and doesn’t let her give up on herself. after all he tried to reason with her all these years, how can he leave her now?
she faces her reality and tries to change her life. Lloyd is kind of there, looking out for her and helping if she needs and accepts his help. but he lets her make her own decisions. he lets her make her own choices.
maybe they go separate ways. both somewhat at peace with how everything turned out. but of course she needs to apologise to him and thank him.
he forgives her.
she’s still this sassy, strong and passionate girl, who’s not afraid of challenge. and she tries to open up to this world. and when Lloyd sees this Harumi, he falls in love with her all over again.
thanks for reading my yapping. lol. this is messy but i’ll just put it out here

you know what would be angsty??? if lloyd and harumi started dating almost immediately after crystalized. he says he forgives her, he’ll help her and stuff. buuut…
harumi wants to be finally with him, on one side (the join us, join me line tho???? aaaargh), but he avoids talking about serious stuff. about their past, their wrongs and just wants to ignore everything. on the other hand harumi urges him to talk, to fight and don’t hold back from anything. because this feels too perfect and she doesn’t think she can fit into this fairytale and can’t be someone lloyd thinks she is.
and it’s lloyd’s coping mechanism, because a) she’s one of us now, and if i pretend we’re all good, i’ll forget the pain and won’t be hurt anymore! and b) he and his dad are doing the hard thing with talking and learning to trust each other again, so he just wants to escape somewhere, where it’s all good.
eventually they break up. she needs to sort out her life. despite him saying he forgave her and that he trusts her - he didn’t and he’s not. so when she brings up anything bad she’s done or said before to hurt him, she can clearly see him totally not over it.
so it’s both angst for harumi, who’s convinced she can’t be what lloyd wanted her to be, that he loves the idea of her, that he can’t trust her, he can’t forgive her, that she’s not enough.
and for lloyd, who wants them to be close, but his wounds are still so fresh that he can’t bear the idea of going through this pain again.
maybe after being apart for some time they meet again and give their relationship another try.

is it just me or is he genuinely sorry for trying to escape???
this is one of my favourite underrated llorumi moments “sorry, Rumi” KFJSOGIAOIFE?????? r u kidding me? what r u sorry for, baby????
are you saying sorry that you “failed” and “didn’t search long enough” or that you’re leaving her or everything together????

i talked briefly about this before but i LOVE imagining Harumi getting into art again. this girl used to draw a lot as a kid, in her diary as a princess (that one picture of her and Garmadon eating ice cream😭) and pre-merge she spends all her time in prison drawing.
she sits in her cell, ignoring everyone and just draws everything she sees. guards, prisoners -> her recurring nightmares about Overlord -> final battle with him -> Lloyd in Oni form -> just Lloyd -> more Lloyd -> Lloyd with little hearts around his cute dorky face -> that’s when she realises she’s down bad. she rips out those pages, too embarrassed to admit it to herself.

if Lloyd and Harumi start dating, Garmadon is the one parent, who approves of her (even tells her SHE can do better) and Misako doesn’t.
Lloyd: i wish my mother could see you the way i do :(
Harumi: one parent out of two. a win is a win

i imagine Harumi becoming people’s favorite singer in a small town after the merge. no one knows her past, she pours everything into singing. she sings lullabies and ballads, lives quiet life. she draws a lot, sometimes she wants an adventure, but mostly she’s glad no one is there to point at her past mistakes.
until Lloyd comes into the village she lives in. she was in a bar, having fun with the band on the scene, singing and dancing. until she accidentally locked eyes with Lloyd. in the doors, looking at her (kinda like Snow and Lucy, you know? :D)
they’re both very eager to talk AND scared to talk

p5 of llorumi hcs!!!
1. their first kiss was initiated by Lloyd - she has tried to kiss him in the past so many times, that now she just let him take the lead when he was ready and she wasn’t pressuring him.
2. it was more “omg this is amazing i could kiss you right now!” kind of a kiss. with Lloyd holding her by her face.
3. Harumi sides with Garmadon about his Oni side. she tries to show him that it’s not going to change him. if he accepts it and learns to control it, he’ll be fine. Lloyd doesn’t like that, but his anger gets the best of him a few times where he almost transforms, so he listens to his dad and gf.
4. Harumi is the first person he feels comfortable around in his Oni form - he almost killed her once, using his Oni powers (episode 14??) and she has seen him transformed before. and she is not afraid of him and always challenges him.
5. they later find his Oni form very benefiting and useful🫢🫢🫢

p4 of llorumi hc
1. i said previously it took time for Lloyd to believe that Harumi actually loves him. but it’s the same for her. she can’t shake off the feeling he’s holding on the image she presented when she was faking. she felt pressure and didn’t want to live up to anyone’s expectations.
2. but they are trying to be healthy, so they talk about it when the topic becomes accurate. it’s a rough way. a lot of hurting and a lot of old scars they try to tend together.
3. Lloyd tries to convince Harumi that it doesn’t matter what others say. this is their choice and their relationship. Harumi doesn’t like that. ninja are his family and she doesn’t want to be in bad terms with them. because she knows what happens anytime someone confronts Lloyd about Harumi - he defends her, gets in a fight with his family because of her.
4. it takes even more time for ninja to accept their relationship.
5. too much angst so here is some fluff. a big fluff scene - Harumi jokes that their dates are very weird in comparison to any traditional date. so Lloyd reflects on that - they don’t make plans like “we’ll go eat somewhere nice, i’ll puck you up at 8”, they just go with “hey, wanna hang out?”. he gets Kai and Jay’s advices and some ideas. Lloyd texts her:
Lloyd - are you free tomorrow night?
Harumi - yes
Lloyd - do you wanna go out on a date with me?
Harumi - wow, how formal
Lloyd - so..???
Harumi - yes, i would like to ;₽
Lloyd - great, i’ll pick you up at 8
Harumi - wait what
Yes, she is confused, she suspects what he wants to do, so she asks if she should dress properly and not just her leather costume or some casual clothes. she puts on a dress, he blushes harder than usual, because oh my god THIS IS actually my girlfriend. he’s in a costume too (Kai’s idea). He gives her flowers like a gentleman he is. They try out some fancy place guys recommended aaaand… Harumi asks why Kai and Jay are spying on them. They try the “normal” date thing, but quickly get bored, but it’s a nice change of things. He reaches for the goodbye-kiss after dropping her off at her place, but she says she doesn’t kiss on the first dates. He knows she’s joking so he still pulls her for the kiss and asks if this ruined his chances at second date. very very cutesy and cheesy of them.
6. Harumi asks ninja for help. they teach her some combat moves and stuff, secretly from Lloyd, because Lloyd is stronger than her, he never fights her with all his strength and she wants to level up her skills. only times she won were because she could distract him. all she knows is thanks to some guards, Hutchins and bikers. she is no match for the actual ninjas, so she learns a thing or two. as usual she and Lloyd fight on the rooftop and she wins (not that she never did before, but only because she knows he’d never actually hurt her or use all his strength to fight her) - Lloyd recognises the style she used and he’s so so happy she’s getting along with his friends. he cheers for her victory and she says she can’t enjoy it is he’s not sad and devastated (she’s joking ofc)
what’s yours hcs?????

p3 of llorumi hc lol. am i making this a series???
honestly i should just write post crystalized llorumi fic, i have so many ideas
1. Harumi totally teases Lloyd about his fans. convo goes something like this “ur fans r gonna go berserk when they find out their favorite green ninja, the noble hero, is dating a criminal”. Lloyd snaps back with “look who’s talking. how’s it gonna affect YOUR reputation? you’ve gone soft. for me. your enemy”. ofc they are bickering in a good way.
2. Harumi visits orphan kids and buys them clothes, food and toys with money she inherited from the royal family.
3. Lloyd visited her in prison and helped her after her release. vey awkward and messy relationship at first, but then…
4. … right before they start dating, she tries to hide her sneaking to the orphanage from Lloyd (cuz it’s something for her only, also they r not in a great place atp), but he gets suspicious and thinks she might be onto something again - he knows it’s wrong but he spies on her and boom! he feels very guilty for doubting her (can u blame him really). also he falls in love with her all over again the same way he did back then - when she fed the poor. what a nice full circle moment.
5. Harumi says i love you first.
6. Lloyd didn’t only because he didn’t want to force his feelings on her - especially when he was so used to her repeating that she never loved him. it does take a while for him to believe she does have feelings for him.
7. she confesses absolutely 100% on accident. she could’ve been sleepy, drunk, too excited, angry with him or whatever. she just blurts it out because it’s so obvious and true.
