THE PRINCESS WEI YANG - 156 PART 1
CHAPTER 156: Who is the Murderer?
When Li Minde woke up the next day, he felt pain all over his body, but his energy was much better than the previous day. He frowned and asked, "Who ordered you to come in?"
The maids looked at each other, not daring to say a word.
He glanced at the concoction on the table with a confused expression, and then asked softly: "Who was here yesterday?"
The maids were trembling: "No one came yesterday." With the third lady's temper, if she said no one came, it means no one came.
Li Minde looked around, his expression gradually changed from doubtful to a little gloomy. He thought... the wound cracked that day, but he didn't take it to heart. Who knew that yesterday, it became even more severe, and he couldn't even stand straight. Even he himself was stunned and couldn't remember what happened. Then he stood up and touched the wound. It seemed that he still felt a little uncomfortable, but it was definitely not as painful as yesterday.
He sighed and said, "I had a good dream."
The maids looked at each other and knew that the young master was not talking to them, so they lowered their heads and remained silent.
Yesterday, Li Min De was in a half-dead state and was in excruciating pain. It was natural for him to not remember anything, but he felt that something was wrong and that something was missing.
What exactly is it?
Li Minde suddenly turned around and asked one of the maids: "I clearly ordered no one to come in last night. Who let the doctor in?"
The maids was scared to death and hesitated: "Yes...it's Guard Zhao."
Li Minde observed her expression, and thought seriously for a long time. The maid thought that he would expose her lies. After all, there was no way to hide the cold sweat on her forehead and the stuttering when speaking. Then Li Minde smiled.
"Hurry and prepare breakfast. I'm hungry." Li Minde stood up, looking energetic. He knew that that person must have been here. Although she tried her best to hide her concern for him, he knew everything! She is such a person, the more she cares in her heart, the more she pretends not to care on the surface!
The maid quickly retreated as if they had received amnesty.
Li Wei Yang went to Hexiangyuan Courtyard early in the morning to pay her respects and met Sun Yanjun and Li Minkang, the second young master of the Li family. When the two of them came out, Li Minkang greeted Li Wei Yang and left first. Sun Yanjun stared at his back and stood still for a long time. It wasn't until Li Wei Yang, who was watching her, couldn't help but laugh that Sun Yanjun snapped out of her trance.
"Why are you laughing?" Sun Yanjun turned back with a smile and looked at Li Wei Yang.
Li Wei Yang smiled and said: "It's nothing, just keep watching. However, second brother (t/n: although Wei Yang refers to him as brother, Li Minkang is actually her cousin. Its customary for direct cousins to refer to each other as 'brother' or 'sister'.) has already gone far."
Sun Yanjun's reaction was slow for a long time. Her face revealed a bit of confusion, but soon she became somewhat embarrassed. "I'm just-"
"It's just that you can't bear to leave your husband. People say that one day is like three autumns apart. You two can't bear not seeing each other for two hours." Li Wei Yang squinted her long eyes and smiled, revealing a row of white teeth.
Sun Yanjun's face was on fire. She walked up to pinch her and said, "You always bully me with that sharp tongue! Let's go."
Li Wei Yang asked strangely: "Where to go?"
Sun Yanjun smiled and said: "Bai Zhi's needlework is the best, I want to ask her to help me!"
The two of them walked all the way back to the yard where Li Wei Yang lived, and saw Bai Zhi sitting under the corridor awning. There were needles, scissors, flowers, various silk threads, and other objects on the small stool beside her. She held a beautiful bellyband in her hand, with fish embroidered with twined golden threads. It looked extremely delicate. Sun Yanjun couldn't help but sigh softly: "Of the girls in this courtyard, Bai Zhi, your embroidery work is the best."
Bai Zhi was originally very attentive, but then she found her master and Sun Yanjun standing aside, she quickly stopped the needle with a smile and raised her eyes: "Why is the Second Young Madam here?" Then she quickly packed her things and ordered the maid inside to come out and pour tea.
Li Wei Yang smiled and said: "Second sister-in-law said that she want to ask you for a favor."
Bai Zhi asked with a smile: "I wonder what kind of help can I provide to the second young lady?"
Sun Yanjun touched her embroidered bellyband and said, "This little bellyband is really beautiful."
Bai Zhi smiled and said: "The fourth young master is growing up quickly, and I have nothing to do, so I will help prepare him some more clothes."
Li Wei Yang saw that Sun Yanjun's expression was strange and thought for a while before probing: "Bai Zhi, my second sister-in-law is asking you to help her embroider some baby clothes!"
Sun Yanjun was startled and said quickly: "You...how did you know?! I haven't even mentioned it to Minkang yet!"
When Li Wei Yang saw that she had guessed correctly, she couldn't help but laugh and said: "Looking at your expression when you touch the little clothes, it's very clear. Furthermore, there are many embroiderers in the Li family, but you have to come to Bai Zhi. Isn't it because she often makes clothes for fourth brother?"
Sun Yanjun's face immediately turned as red as a tomato: "Wei Yang, please don't make any announcement. I'm not sure yet!"
However, Li Wei Yang didn't seem to mind, and said with a faint smile: "Have you not asked the doctor to take a look?"
Sun Yanjun said in a low voice: "It's just that my cycle hasn't come for two months..."
It was rare that Sun Yanjun showed such a shy look. After thinking about it, Wei Yang replied: "This is not an embarrassing thing. Just go to the doctor and have a look. If it's true, it's a joyous occasion for the Li Family, and Second Brother will be very happy to learn about it!"
Sun Yanjun also laughed and touched the little bellyband again and again, reluctant to leave it.
Seeing her like this, Li Wei Yang suddenly stopped laughing. It was only for a split-second, and she was at a loss for words. Bai Zhi noticed that something was wrong, but didn't dare to say anything. She just didn't know what Miss was thinking. Sun Yanjun thought for a long time before she raised her head. Seeing Li Wei Yang's stunned look, she couldn't help but ask: "What's wrong?"
There was a trace of sadness in Li Wei Yang's eyes, but her face was calm: "Seeing you like this, I feel very happy." But she didn't say the whole reason; only she knew in her heart that she was envious of San Yanjun. Her brightness and innocence are both enviable, as is the happy mood now that she is about to be a mother. Unfortunately, Li Wei Yang may not have such an opportunity in this life. She has no love, no affection, no marriage, so she will have no children. However, looking at Sun Yanjun, she felt happy inexplicably. She was completely happy for her.
"Later, I will ask someone to send for Imperial Physician Wang." Li Wei Yang smiled.
"No, no! Don't! If you do this, you will alarm the old lady and my mother-in-law. You know how she is; she always wants to publicize even trivial things to everyone. I have already told my mother. She said that my aunt used to use an old miracle doctor, who was particularly good at treating women..."
Li Wei Yang couldn't help but be surprised: "Is there such a doctor in Kyoto?"
"Yes." Sun Yanjun replied in a low voice: "He is called a Leukorrhea doctor. He is good at treating women. The young ladies in Kyoto who have irregular menstruation and the ladies who have not been pregnant for a long time all do everything possible to find him."
"Leukorrhea" refers to the area below the belt. Women often suffer from "Leukorrhea" disease, so doctors who specialize in treating women's diseases are called "Leukorrhea doctors" in Dali.
Li Wei Yang pondered for a moment, nodded, and said: "You have a doctor you are familiar with, which is actually the best." Every big family has a doctor they like to use, and most women will not change doctors easily after they get married and have children. It is the same as the old madam who seldom trusts others except Imperial Physician Wang to see her.
Sun Yanjun added: "Don't you always say you are cold in winter? This can also be cured. Ask him to prescribe a few medicines to help you adjust, and the root cause will be eliminated soon."
Li Wei Yang raised her eyebrows: "Is he really so magical?"
Sun Yanjun nodded matter-of-factly and said: "His master was Liu Yuanjian, who was known as the God Hand of the previous dynasty's imperial hospital. He was also a very famous doctor who specialized in treating the ladies in the palace. But later there was an incident when the late Emperor's beloved Concubine Li was about to give birth, but she was having trouble during labor. The midwife and others couldn't help at all. They tried many methods, but nothing could be done. In the end, they had no choice but to call in Doctor Liu——"
When ordinary people give birth, unless it is an emergency, it is impossible to let the doctor enter the delivery room, because most of the doctors are men. Not to mention the concubines in the palace, even the people who take care of them are all eunuchs. Even when they see the imperial doctor, they always keep their distance when inquiring about symptoms, so something like delivering babies - that is unthinkable.
Li Wei Yang frowned: "And then?"
Sun Yanjun said: "The child was delivered, but within three days, Liu Yuanjian fell seriously ill and died. At that time, his disciples either died or dispersed, and some were sent back to their original places to recuperate... This Doctor Jiang is also the same. During the previous dynasty, he never dared to show his face in the capital. It was not until this dynasty that he started practicing medicine again."
"This... is too surprising..." Li Wei Yang murmured to himself.
"Yeah, I shudder when I think about it. How could there be such a coincidence that Doctor Liu abruptly died of a sudden illness." Sun Yanjun shook her head.
Li Wei Yang's dark eyes contained a layer of gloom: "The emperor's heart is unpredictable. Sometimes you help them do things, and in turn you are killed."
Seeing her deep in thought, Sun Yanjun said, "Let's not mention these things anymore. Once Doctor Jiang arrives in the capital, he won't have much time to spare. I'm going to see this doctor this afternoon. You can come with me and he can also diagnose your sensitivity to the cold."
Li Wei Yang shook her head and said: "Old madam invited someone to perform an opera this afternoon and asked me to accompany her. If you have confirmed the news, you can tell me later."
Sun Yanjun just smiled. Her smile looked as fresh as the peach blossoms in March, full of hope: "Okay, I will definitely tell you first."
Li Wei Yang watched Sun Yanjun leave, and her smile deepened. But at this time, she had not thought that everything would change so drastically later, so much that even she could barely accept it.
In the evening, the old lady invited a troupe to sing an opera. The second lady, Li Changru and others were all sitting in the yard. Jiang Yuelan refused to participate because she was not feeling well, while Li Wei Yang sat quietly, drinking tea and watching the opera, which was a rare leisure.
Just when the play was over and the old madam ordered someone to give the reward, she suddenly saw the housekeeper of the Li family coming in with a pale expression. He also brought a maid behind him. Li Wei Yang recognized it at a glance as Liu'er, whom usually accompanies Sun Yanjun. Before Liu'er reached the old madam, she knelt on the ground with a plop and cried bitterly.
Did something happen? ! Li Wei Yang was the first to notice, and felt a chill rising from the bottom of her heart. She quickly stood up, walked over, and whispered to the old lady: "Old madam, something seems to have happened. Look!"
The old madam followed the direction of her finger and couldn't help but frowned. Her originally good mood was suddenly disturbed. She waved her hand and signaled the troupe to stop: "Liu'er, why are you crying!"
Liu'er only focused on crying but didn't dare to speak.
The old lady frowned even more tightly, and the second lady scolded her, "Are you dumb, girl? You didn't hear what old madam asked you! You didn't learn the rules from your master!?"
Liu'er has been with Sun Yanjun for a long time and has learned to have a dignified temperment. She usually speaks clearly and carefully and has never shown such an expression. There was no trace of smile on Li Wei Yang's face. Somehow, a cold chill came from the bottom of her heart and continued to expand. After a long time, she heard herself ask in a stiff voice: "What happened?"
When Liu Er saw Li Wei Yang's concern, she rushed over and grabbed the hem of her skirt, crying softly: "This matter is of great importance, and I don't dare to talk nonsense."
Li Wei Yang knew something was wrong when she saw her behavior, because if it was an ordinary thing, Liu Er would definitely say it in public, but now, it was clear that she couldn't say it, and she immediately ordered: "Okay, you all get out!"
The maidservants in the yard immediately retreated respectfully, not even daring to raise their heads to look at Liu'er. The second lady was shocked. The third lady was already more dignified than the old madam in the Li family. Old madam frowned and said, "Come to the house and talk!"
After entering the house, Liu'er burst into tears and said, "Old madam, princess, my young lady has been kidnapped!"
What! Li Wei Yang suddenly frowned and said word by word: "What did you say!?"
Liu'er repeated: "My young lady - was kidnapped!"
Old Madam Li suddenly stood up, her face turned livid, and she murmured: "Kidnapped?! What does this mean!"
The second lady also looked very ugly, and kept asking: "You damn girl, are you talking in vain? Has she offended someone? How could someone kidnap her for no reason!"
Li Wei Yang interrupted her question and said quickly: "Where was it taken away and in which direction did it go!"
Tears kept flowing on Liu'er's face: "On... on the path next to Desheng Gate, a group of people suddenly rushed out and robbed the entire carriage. The guards were all dead, and the young lady fought hard. She pushed me out of the car, but she herself could not escape——"
Li Wei Yang suppressed her uneasy feelings and stopped asking any more questions. Instead, she turned to the old lady and said: "Old madam, now is not the time to investigate why, we must go and rescue her first!"
Old Madam Li nodded and ordered Mama Luo on the side: "Go and tell the master about this immediately, and take the Li family's seal and quietly go to Jing Zhaoyin. Tell him to immediately find a way to bring the person back!"
Li Changru pulled the second madam's sleeve: "Mother, the second sister-in-law is beautiful, but something like this happened, could someone -"
Mama Luo left quickly, but the second madam's face was as ugly as ever: "Even if nothing happens, her reputation will be ruined, how good is that! What a disgrace! Alas! Who knows how this girl has offended such an evil person. She has even ruined my family's reputation by doing such a thing!"
When Li Wei Yang heard this, the anger in her heart surged upwards. She suddenly turned around and stared at the second madam coldly.
The second madam was startled, frightened by the fire and coldness in her eyes, and couldn't help but step backup half a step: "You...why are you looking at me like this!"
Li Wei Yang sneered and said: "Second aunt, second sister-in-law is your own daughter-in-law. Although her temperament is more straightforward, her nature is kind and innocent. She is so respectful and filial to you on most days, can't you see it yourself?? Now that something has happened to her, even if you can't help, don't say such sarcastic words around her! Otherwise, people will laugh at the fact that the Li family has no rules!"
The second lady's face suddenly turned livid: "I am your elder, how can you say that!"
Li Wei Yang's expression remained unchanged, with contempt in her eyes: "Elder? You, the elder, must make no mistakes in what you say and do. What you are saying now is something that even a junior like me can't bear to listen to. If you do not believe it, you can ask the old madam."
Second Madam's expression changed immediately. She covered her face with the handkerchief and cried to the old madam: "Look, this girl is getting more and more out of hand! Seeing that you dote on her and relying on the fact that she is the princess, she doesn't recognize me as an elder!"
The old madam disagreed, and looked at the second lady coldly, saying: "Wei Yang is right, look at what you said, after losing the child, you only care about your reputation! Changru, help your mother go back! Don't worry about her. She's confused and talking nonsense here!"
The second lady was taken aback. Li Changru hurriedly came over to help her, but she refused to leave, and the situation suddenly became deadlocked. Li Wei Yang did not pay attention to this short-sighted shrew. She quickly ordered Zhao Yue on the side: "Call everyone to go out and search, and check all the places where people may be hiding!"
Zhao Yue immediately responded and said: "Yes!"
Li Minkang rushed to Hexiang Courtyard, but his entire face was pale. As soon as he entered the door, he looked at Li Wei Yang and said, "Have you found the person?"
Li Wei Yang shook his head. Two hours had passed and there was no news. She was also anxious, but neither Zhao Yue nor Li Minde's secret guards sent any word back. What happened? Who kidnapped Sun Yanjun? That was General Sun's legitimate daughter. Who would dare to do such a thing in broad daylight!
Li Minkang walked quickly outside, and the second lady grabbed him: "Where are you going!"
Li Minkang gritted his teeth: "Going to find Jun'er!"
The second lady grabbed his arm tightly: "Where are you going to look for her when it's so dark? You don't know who those people are. If there are knives and daggers, how can you, a weak scholar, resist? I already have no daughter-in-law. Do you want your mother to lose you too?"
What the second lady said was extremely selfish, and she was clearly not prepared to care about Sun Yanjun's life or death. Li Wei Yang sneered and said: "As a husband, don't you have any responsibility for your missing wife? Don't you know that the second sister-in-law is pregnant? She is now alone outside and her life or death is uncertain. What do you want, second brother? It's up to you! Anyway, your wife is yours, just leave her alone, as long as you don't regret it or feel guilty in the future!"
Li Minkang's square face showed shock, and then a look of pain. He threw away the second lady and walked quickly outside. However, as soon as he reached the yard, he met Yao Changqing and others' rushed arrival. Li Minkang seemed to have finally found a life-saving straw and grabbed him: "Have you found her?"
Yao Changqing's face was solemn. He ordered people to search the whole city overnight, but there was no trace.
Li Minkang's face was extremely ugly, "Could it be that they can fly into the sky and escape? How could they not be found!"
Yao Changqing's expression became cold and stiff, no, he simply felt ashamed. The household registration system in the capital is very strict. Where can these strong man come from? What's more, he sent so many people to search but there was no trace of them. What happened? As Jing Zhaoyin, he must be responsible for the security of the capital. Previously, the Jiang family was killed inexplicably, and now the daughter of the Sun family has been kidnapped. It is simply inexplicable to the extreme! What kind of master could snatch the carriage in which Sun Yanjun was sitting in full view of Li Mansion's guards?
After listening to Yao Changqing's words, the old lady's face became paler and she was almost out of breath. Li Wei Yang saw her clutching her chest and quickly helped her sit down, letting her rest on the back of the chair. The old lady's face was livid, her breath was uneven, her chest was rising and falling violently, and she murmured: "What should we do? What should we do?"
Li Wei Yang held the old lady's hand and comforted her: "Old madam, everything will be fine. My second sister-in-law is a lucky person, so she will be fine." But she didn't know whether she was comforting the old madam or herself. Wei Yang didn't know when she started to regard Sun Yanjun as a good friend. For the first time, she slightly lost her cool.

the problem was just.

you were so stressed about how to tell him about your bisexuality, just because you didn't want to ruin any moments.
after being tired of waiting for the "right" moment,
you decided that it had lasted for too long and that you should just tell him.
because lies are not good, fellas.
i should be a philosopher
nvm
you were in your apartment, walking around in the living room, visibly stressed and bothered.
yanjun finished working, and he would be home in a minute.
after thinking another time about how to declare this to him, you heard the sound of a key entering the door's lock. the tingling sound of the keys made you jump, as it brutally dragged you back to reality.
- honey, i'm home! yanjun's joyful voice made its way through your ears, and you suddenly felt less more stressed about your announcement. you smiled at him and felt your heartbeat slowing down.
"it's just yanjun", you thought. "nothing bad can happen."
- yanjun? i have something to tell you. your face was a little bit less joyful than the second before. yanjun started to frown.
- oh really? is it important? because i have something to tell you too actually. his face was closed and you could feel that he became instantly tense. he shoved both of his hands in his jacket's pockets.
- it's important, but if you have anything to say-
- ladies first. what do you have to tell me?
the pressure and tension came back in your body, as you cleared your throat before speaking.
- uh well yanjun, i wanted to tell you this since a while and... i'm bisexual.
as you said those words, you heard yanjun laughing. was the source of his laughter nervousness or sheer amusement? no idea. but he was laughing and you didn't really appreciated it.
- what's so funny yanjun?
he couldn't stop laughing, and he proceeded to grab your arms to hug you, and his laughter gradually stopped.
- well, first of all, i'm sorry. i thought you were about to break up with me and i got scared. and when you said you were bisexual, i couldn't help but laugh because it's the last thing i would blame you for. i mean, girls are so hot, i totally understand.
both of you started laughing again, as the heavy tension was fading.
- but what did you want to tell me? you asked, quite curious.
yanjun took a step back, and looked at you with a sneaky smile while shoving once again his hands in his pockets.
- so, we've been dating for a pretty long time right? and i realised we've never travelled together. remember when you told me you wanted us to go to paris together? well, i got us plane tickets to paris for tonight. so baby, you better hurry up and pack your stuff right away, because we are leaving in two hours!
you let out a little scream because of the news, and jumped into your boyfriend's arms.
- you scared me so much, said yanjun. your timing for your little announcement was a little bit off, in my opinion, he stated in a laugh.

9 Percent “You fangirl/boy over their IP performances”
Ask: (2) you fangirling over one of nine percents performances on idol producer?
A/N: I chose my personal favorite performances of theirs for this
You Zhangjing:
You had been in a loop, watching all of his IP performances over and over. But the “What I Miss” performance really hit you. The whole ambience and the vocals gave you goosebumps and Zhangjing really sold the show.
“Please stop watching that.” Zhangjing asked with a laugh. “Why should I, you sound so good here and Mubo playing the cello in the intro... it’s beautiful.” You said and he smiled at you. “Fine, but you know you could get a live show from me right?”
Lin Yanjun:
You loved his agressive rap in the “Codename Contra” performance. You loved it when he rapped and this rap just hit you right where it hurt. You were at the point where you could do the whole dance and sing along too.
Yanjun just happened to walk in on you jamming out to his part and rapping it, only to walk out of the room again. You burst out laughing, pulling him back into the room. “I hate thattttt.” He whined and you smiled and pinched his cheeks. “You look so hot though.” You said and his face turned into a smirk.
“Do I now?”
Zhu Zhengting:
(Have you noticed when he laughs he does this with his shoulders, really cute)
Lay’s song “Sheep” was legendary and the fact your boyfriend had done a performance to that song only made you happy. It one of your favorite things and getting his chocolate bar abs flashed at you only made you happier.
Zhengting cringed watching himself lift his shirt up for the millionth time. You on the other hand, mimicked the fans’ screams. But on the inside you were proud to see your boyfriend do so well. Zhengting covered your mouth with his hand and you looked at him with wide eyes.
“Please don’t.”
Wang Ziyi:
Ziyi never seized to surprise you. But something he hardly ever did around you was sing, rapping he did a lot. So the “I Will Always Remember” performance was near and dear to your heart.
“Ziyi you have to sing more often.” You said as you watched the performance again. He sighed and a blush graced his cheeks. “Stop it, it doesn’t sound good.” He mumbled only for you to roll your eyes. “You’re too humblr for your own good, Ziyi.”
Cai Xukun:
The Papillon performance just killed you. You knew how hyped he was to rap Jackson’s song and you kne whow much fun he had which made it so much more amazing to watch.
You were at the point where his verse, Ziyi’s verse, Justin’s verse and Bufan’s verse were a piece of cake to rap. It really only flustered him but it was amusing to you. So as you scream rapped his part in his face, Xukun couldn’t help but laugh and join you in the hype.
“You keep me embarrassed but I don’t mind because it’s you.”
Xiao Gui/Linkai:
If there was one thing in the world you loved it was his performance of Artist. The smile on Linkai’s face melted you and his rap was incredibly sweet. It honestly melted your heart and embarrassed the Hell out of him so it was a win win situation.
“Please stop playing that videoooooo.” He whined and you simply laughed, turning it up. Linkai grabbed your laptop and shut it. “No more and I promise I’ll rap it live but please, stop.” He asked with a laugh only for you to agree.
Fan ChengCheng:
The Very Good performance was heartbreaking and hearing ChengCheng’s true feelings in the song really hit you where it hurt. You couldn’t help but shed a tear listening to it, knowing his struggles and everything he had been through.
He had walked in on you crying and watching his performance, only to wrap his arms around you. “I’m so incredibly proud of you ChengCheng.” You whined and hugged him. he had to hold back his own feelings for the moment.
Chen Linong:
Linong’s vocals always shined in your opinion, but the Firewalking performance stood out to you. It was the soft atmosphere of the stage, the clothing and his bright smile and of course his voice made it all perfect.
“FIREWALKING.” You sang while you did some homework and had the video playing in the background. “You should be focussing on your work.”He said as you jammed out. “I have my priorities straight you know.” You said and slammed your school books shut. “Obviously.” He said and started humming the song along with a big smile on his face.
Justing/Minghao:
“Dream” was just so much fun. The song was a good representation of how playful he was and it was what you loved about Justin. Plus, who can not love Xingjie’s magic tricks?
“Ahhh Justin!” You screamed along to the fangirls in the audience. If it was anyone else they would have been flustered, but not Justin. “Wooooooo Justin!” He yelled along with you only for you to roll your eyes.
“What? i can’t be my own fan?”

NPC Reacts: You losing a your promise ring
Request: Open
Cai Xukun
Xukun was worried when he saw your apartment in such an unsightly condition. He would call out your name to make sure it was you who caused it. When he saw you throwing your pillows around the room screaming the words ‘where is it?”’ over and over, his worry left him. “Are you okay babe?”
You jumped in surprise and put on a fake smile, trying to not get caught. You lost your promise ring which Xukun had given you about six months ago. It was unique and you loved it which is why you couldn’t believe you had lost it, you wore it everyday. “Nothing!”
He let out a laugh. “Sure doesn’t sound like nothing.”
You’re smile fell and his worry arose once more. He quickly rushed over to you asking you what was wrong. “Xukun.. Im sorry…The ring. I lost it.”
After hearing those words he let out a sigh or relief. The ring was expensive but seeing your face filled with so much sadness made him far more scared. “That’s it?”
“Thats it? This is my ring! I lost it!”
“Awww, babe. It has to show up at some point right?” He asked pulling you into a hug. Xukun then smiled and pulled up one of his sleeves. “Shall we start looking?”
Chen Linong
Linong felt worry when he saw that you cancelled your date. He was worried that he did something wrong so he paid you a visit to you house. He found you scanning your lawn which made him feel a little bad. You would rather be doing this than be on a date with him? “Y/n?” He called out
You stood abruptly hiding your hand behind you back. You absolutely did not want to explain to him that the reason you cancelled your date was because you had lost the ring he had given you when you started dating. “Nongnong! What are you doing here?”
“I got worried when you cancelled…what are you doing?” He questioned as he took a step closer to you, only for you to take a step back. He raised an eyebrow in shock. He took another step, and you again, took one back. “Y/n, whats wrong with you? What did I do that you don’t even want to be near me?”
“What?” You dropped your hands when you heard his question. That made you feel more guilty than losing you ring. You bit your lip and lifted your hands to show a naked finger. You turned your heard in shame as you uttered the words, “I lost the ring.”
“Huh?” He questioned. He thought he had misheard. You cancelled because you lost the ring he had given you over a year ago?
“The ring. I lost it. And I didn’t want to go on the date without it. I’m sorry I made you worry.” You rushed your words as you were slightly waiting for him to be mad at you for losing it.
“Oh….” He sighed with relief filling his body. He looked at your cute sight and let out a chuckle. “Well, lets find it so we can go on our date. Yeah?”
Fan Chengcheng
Chengcheng was shocked when he saw you crying over the bathroom sink at one in the morning. His mind ran through so many thoughts but he asked if you were okay.
“No….I lost it…”
Cheng sat up from his drowsiness, clearly worried about you. “Y/n, what’s wrong honey?”
“Your ring…I lost it…” A tear dropped from your eye. Cheng had bought you a ring about a month ago to celebrate your one year anniversary and you had already lost it. You lifted you hand to show him your empty finger.
“Ayyyy, you had me so worried.” Cheng said as he squinted to your hand. He kicked his legs to get the blankets off and then he walked over to the bathroom with you. He grabbed your hand giving it another look. “The ring was ugly anyways-”
“No it wasn’t!” You snatched you hand out of his grasp and gave him a small glare. “It was perfect and beautiful, I love it. You’re just trying to make me feel better.”
He sighed with a smile on his lips. He lifted his hand and placed it on your head to ruffle your hair. “Ay, fine. Stop crying about it and come to bed. We can look for it in the morning.”
You nodded and he grabbed you hand and led you back to the bed with him, still happy on how you loved your ring. Once you had fallen back to sleep, he would wake up and search for your ring so you would’t be worried about it in the morning.
Justin
Justin would notice your ring missing one day but he didn’t question it,assuming that you had just decided to not wear it. But when he saw it happen when you guys were on a date he did ask about it. “Babe, where is your ring?”
You gulped slightly and hid away your finger as if he hadn’t seen it missing already. “Um..you can’t get mad okay…?”
He nodded waiting for you to say what he was thinking. He had always thought you hated it. He waited for the words to leave you mouth but it didn’t happen.
“I lost it…”
“What?” Justin questioned, sounding a bit harsh which caught some attention from the people around you. You sighed trying to think of a way to explain to him how it had happened.
“I was swimming and I took it off and I am absolutely sure that I had placed it in my bag but I can’t find it…” You told him. He sighed with anger in his tone which made you surprise.
“Are you sure you didn’t do it on purpose? I know you hated it…” Justin said to you with his eyes narrowed on your face trying to read your reactions.
“Are you kidding me? That was my favorite ring! Not because it was expensive, which is what I knew what you were going to say.” You snapped which made Justin shocked. You were never one to get angry over things which made his assumptions absolutely wrong.
“I’m sorry.” He murmured which made you nod. You said it back to him as well. “You really did like it?”
“Of course, you gave it to me.”
A smile appeared on his face as he grabbed your hand and ran his thumb over your empty finger. “I can always get you another one..” He whispered but you didn’t catch it which made him smile even harder
Lin Yanjun
Yanjun walked into your shared apartment with pure shock as he watched you throw the couch pillow across the room. He placed his keys on the shelf and shrugged off his coat as he asked what was wrong.
“Oh, babe…You’re home…” You sighed trying to catch your breath as the pillow was rather heavy. Curse Yanjun for having expensive taste. Especially for jewelry which isn’t a problem except for now. You had lost your ring he gave you years ago. It wasn’t the first time it happened but this is the first time that you hadn’t been able to find it within a day of losing it.
“You don’t sound to excited about that,” Yanjun laughed as he raised an eyebrow trying to take a gander at what was happening in his apartment. He had no clue but he could tell it was something important to you. “Did you loose something or…?”
“Uh…I didn’t want to tell you but I lost my ring…” You murmured in shame as you felt horrible. You loved your ring which is why your looking in every nook and cranny for it but your search was getting you no where.
“The very expensive promise ring? Put-a-huge-dent-in-my-pocket ring?” He asked with a smile but when he saw the color drain off of your face, he could tell that you didn’t think it was as funny. “Hey, I was joking. It’s not that big of a deal, I mean its like three years old anyways…”
“That doesn’t make it okay. I lost the first ring you ever gave me! I loved that ring almost as much as I love you…”You pout as you heard your boyfriend let out a chuckle making you roll your eyes.
“Well let’s find your little ring!
Zhu Zhengting
Your ring was so beautiful to you which is why you couldn’t believe that you had lost it. You searched any and everywhere possible to find it. Yet, you had no luck. You also had no choice but to confess to your boyfriend about the lost ring. This worried you more because he seemed more in love with it than your were, which is saying a lot. You bit your lip as you waited for you long-term boyfriend to open the door.
The door revealed a smiling Ting which almost made all you worries fade in an instant but it soon broke your heart when you realized you had to break it to him about the ring. He let you in and placed a kiss on your cheek as you talked past him. “Zhengting…I have to confess something…”
“Are you cheating on me?” His smile fell and confusion grew largely on your face as you hadn’t meant for it too sound like that.
“No, no. Um….,” You mumbled as you diverted you eyes in order to find the courage to tell him. “Actually, I lost…I lost my ring…”
“Your ring? You lost it?” He asked as his eyes immediately went to your hand trying to see you naked finger. He sighed as he mind was trying to react to the news. “What happened? This was a very expensive ring..”
“I know… I have looked everywhere for it… I don’t know where it could be..” You told him as you lifted your hand to caress his face. “Babe, I’m so sorry.”
“Ah, it’s fine. Things like this happen all the time.” He told you not wanting to make a big deal about this because he knew that it wouldn’t help anything. He put a small smile on his lips as he pulled you into the kiss, it was just a ring after all. “Some things are found when you don’t search for them, so let’s forget it for now and enjoy our time together, yeah?”
Wang Ziyi
You woke up frantically and began tearing Ziyi’s room apart which made him also wake up in a frantic state. He drowsily asked you what was wrong with worry filling his voice as his mind went straight to the endless possibilities that could be happening.
“My ring!” You yelled as you were throwing the laundry out of the basket in search for your ring. You always took it off before you went to bed because you didn’t want to ruin it but when you woke up it wasn’t placed on your necklace chain like it usually is.
Your answer made Ziyi sit up and try to understand what you were talking about. He caught on when he saw you scanning the ground closely. “You had it on lst night…”
“I know! I can’t find it…Im gonna cry…” You whined as you fell to the ground in a sad state. You loved your ring and it made you feel so incomplete without having it with you. Ziyi let out a small breath before walking over to you. He rubbed your back to help soothe you down from your emotions right now.
“Babe, I can get you a new-”
“I don’t want a new one.” You cut him off. You turned and looked at him from you spot on the ground. “I want my ring. My precious ring which is supposed to be placed on my necklace and it isn’t…”
“We can find it but lets eat first. It will help our brains start up and make a better search for us.” he laughed which made you smile. You were pretty hungry since you skipped dinner last night to go help your friend with moving in.
“Ah! What if-”
“Let’s eat first!” Ziyi cut you off with another laugh not wanting you to overthink anything or get your hopes up.
Xiao Gui
Xiao Gui was sitting in the studio as he worked. He was pleasantly surprised when he saw that you were calling him. He answered with a smile and a simple hello. “Hey, Gui. Do you think you could drop by after your session?”
“Yeah, no problem babe.” He said . You both said your goodbyes quickly. As time went on he was so curious as to what was the reason behind your call, why did you want him to come over? His mind was all over the place which made him end work a bit earlier than usual. He packed his things into a back of an taxi and went over to your place.
He entered your place with a simple call of your name but he realized he didn’t need to do that since you were already sitting on the couch waiting for him which made him a bit nervous. “Hey babe, what’s up?’
You twiddled with your fingers as you avoided eye contact with Xiao Gui until you built up the nerves to finally say it. “I’m so sorry Gui, I lost the ring you gave me.”
“The ring?” He asked as he thought back on the expensive ring he bought you a couple of months ago. “You lost it?”
You nodded shamefully feeling awful about it. You watched his face as he looked sad, just as you expected. You waited for him to say something, anything really. “Was it because it was too small?”
Xiao Gui had always been worried that the ring was more of his taste than yours but that wasn’t the case at all. You loved your ring and its chic allure. “No, no. I love my ring. It was just an accident. I have no idea where it is and I have looked everywhere for it but I just can’t find it anywhere. I’m sorry.”
Xiao Gui nodded feeling a bit relieved that it wasn’t the ring that made you want to get rid of it. “What me to help you look?”
“Yes! Would you?” You gushed feeling happy that you could get some help looking for such a small ring that could be hiding anywhere.
“Sure thing babe.” He smiled as he was glad that you genuinely love the ring he got you.
You Zhangjing
“Ay…” He let out waving off the statement you had just told him. “This is just a scam for me to get you a new one isn’t it?”
“What?” You asked as you looked through you laundry. “How could you possibly think that? I love my ring, you buffoon!”
“Hey! You’re the one who lost it! I mean yeah it was small but it was expensive you know!” He said as he searched the bed for the small band. Your ring was a band filled with yours and Zhangjing’s favorite jewels, which is what made it so special to you. You were growing axious not liking the outcome of your search.
“Oh, baby I can always get you another-”
“Don’t finish that sentence Jing. You can’t disrespect my ring like that.” You cut him off which made him huff slightly.
“I mean, it was ugly-” You threw a pillow at him to stop him from insulting your ring even further. “Hey! What was that for?!?!”
“Don’t call my ring ugly, that’s a representation of your undying love for me.” You told him with a matter-or-fact tone.
“You’re the one who lost it so that shows how much you really care about my undying love, huh?” He joked as he searched the jewelry boxes. Another pillow hit him in the back of his head and he turned to see you pouting. He let out a sigh. “I was joking, gosh! We’ll find the ring and then melt down into your hand so you can’t loose it again!”
“I’m not going to loose it again!” You defended as you went back to searching.

perfect timing → lin yanjun ( nine percent ) → summary: lin yanjun is your best friend who puts you through absolute hell, and you wouldn’t have it any other way. → warnings: swearing, mentions of sex, cheating, slight slut shaming (?) → genre: angst to fluff, friends to lovers → word count: 4,036
You couldn’t remember a time when you didn’t love Lin Yanjun.
If you could, it would have been before third grade, when you met him. He had a terrible bowl-cut, but even as a chubby-cheeked grade schooler he had the charming, dimpled smile that you knew and loved. He shared his snack with you when one of the mean girls stole yours, and ever since then, you were inseparable.
Growing up, some part of you always knew you had feelings for Yanjun no matter how hard you tried to deny it. It was all too tropey for you - the idea of falling for your best friend who most definitely, absolutely did not feel the same way.
Yet, no matter how hard you tried, there was no denying the way your heart fluttered when he gave you that familiar dimpled smile.
Yanjun had always been cooler than you. He was handsome, confident, and funny (although that one was debatable at times). He was always the sun, so bright and warm and lighting up the room. You were just another star, far away and dwarfed by his light. The ‘person that Yanjun hangs out with’.
Sometimes you wished you could hate him, but he was too good. Yanjun was never anything less than an incredible friend - he was there to wipe the tears, to put on the bandaids and to make you laugh until your stomach hurt. Still, he was just that; a friend.
It was hard not to be bitter. When he told you he had a crush on the girl who sat two seats ahead and one to the left of him in fifth grade, you felt that sinking feeling for the first time. Then as you went on to middle school, you would smile and shake your head reassuringly at every girl that asked you if you were his girlfriend. You’d say, “Yanjun? But he’s so lame!”, as if you didn’t look at him like he put the stars in the sky.
But that was okay - that was fine. Every time Yanjun got that rosy-cheeked grin when he liked a girl, you decided it was worth it. You could do it, for him.
It got worse as you got older.
Nothing had ever made you feel so nauseous as the time in high school when you were at a party and you watched Yanjun and some pretty thing go into the closet, sent off by a series of hoots and hollers from the other party goers. When they came back out, with tousled hair and swollen lips and sneaked off upstairs, you were sure you were going to get sick in front of all these people. You had walked home by yourself, trembling both from the cold and the bone-crushing realization that you just weren’t enough.
You wondered if you could ever be enough for someone like Lin Yanjun.
When he’d treat you to lunch, when you’d stay up all night on the phone talking about things that wouldn’t make sense in the morning, when he smiled and told you that someday, the guy that gets you will be the luckiest man in the world and you swore you were gonna blacken one of those beautiful eyes. When he’d be so unapologetically nice. That was when you wondered.
You’d tried dating other boys, and while they were handsome and nice, they just weren’t Yanjun. You hated yourself for it - and still, you couldn’t bear to hate him.
So many times had you thought about causing some big fight and cutting ties with him just so he’d stop ripping open the healing scars every other day. This was the only advice people ever offered to you anymore - just stay away from him. You couldn’t.
One time in High School, you had tried. You started some argument about something you can’t even remember now, and that spiraled downward and downward until you told him to stay away from you and hung up the phone and blocked his number. For a moment, you felt some sick semblance of freedom. You had never imagined it would hurt so much.
Half an hour after, there was a knock at your door. There he was, sweat on his brow and tears in his puffy eyes. He’d ran the whole way to your house, grabbed your hand and begged you to just let this one go. That he ‘couldn’t live without his best friend.’
Nothing could have hurt more than hearing the shake in his voice as he said your name. So you said it was okay, yeah, you could let this one go. You let yourself fall into his arms, press your face into his shoulder and breathe in the scent of his cologne. Hated yourself for wanting to stay just like that forever. You decided that if there was anything worse than the agony of having to see Yanjun not love you while you loved him, it was not seeing Yanjun at all.
Still, it got worse.
It all started with Penny Yao.
You thought her name was quite fitting, given she was as cheap as a penny. You tried not to be judgemental because you knew you were blinded by jealousy every time you looked at her. Even though her skirts looked uncomfortably short and her shirts painfully tight, she had a beautiful face and Yanjun fell for it, hard.
She was just that kind of girl - the kind that young boys chase after because they’re beautiful and seem unobtainable. The kind that all the girls pretend to love because they’re terrified of her. Yeah, Penny was just that kind of girl.
At first, when Yanjun had told you with a shy grin that he liked her and they were talking, your first thought had been, ‘okay, well maybe she’s nice.’ So you tried to force yourself to find something about Penny that you liked. Sure she was pretty, and while you were trying to be all girl-powery like ‘girls can wear whatever they want!’ you couldn’t help but grimace every time you caught a glimpse of her ass cheeks.
It didn’t matter to you how she dressed though, it was why she dressed the way she did. To rope in boys and throw them away when she was done. You sat behind her in chemistry, and you had heard her talking to one of her duplicates about a boy you barely knew on the football team. The story was, he’d shown up at her house with flowers in hand to pick her up for a date she’d forgotten about. Little did he know as he waited outside in his best shoes that one of his best friends was sneaking out of her bedroom window with his clothes in his hand.
You really thought you were going to be sick.
It wouldn’t have mattered to you. If it was any other situation, you probably would have gotten a chuckle out of the horribleness of the situation. It wasn’t anybody you knew, right? Well, it was someone you knew. It was the one person you really, really didn’t want it to be. You would do anything to protect him from Penny’s kind of mess.
So you had tried.
One day as you were eating lunch at one of your favorite places, you swallowed your nerves and told him about what you had heard. You didn’t know what you were expecting, but Yanjun’s reaction was the worst one possible. Blinded by admiration, he had lashed out at you with a temper he usually reserved for Mario Kart losses and never for his best friend. Voice low and angry, he had told you that you were stereotyping her and that ‘you didn’t know her like he did’. He said he already had gone on two dates with her - he hadn’t told you because ‘he knew what you would think’, and that she was nothing like people thought.
Then he put a twenty on the table and stormed out of the restaurant, leaving you with awkward stares from the people around and your heart in your lap.
He had called you that night to apologize, and you forgave him - of course you did. This time, however, the anger lingered. It couldn’t be eased by his dimpled smiles and shining eyes. Some bitter part of you couldn’t help but think; ‘don’t come crying to me when she does exactly what I said she would.’
They went on a few more dates. Yanjun didn’t talk about her much. You barely even saw him, really. All his time was spent with Penny. He was infatuated. That was the saddest part - he really, truly thought that the bad girl would be good just for him. He loved her.
All you could do was wait.
You had never felt so helpless. As she sat in front of you in chemistry, reading his texts aloud and giggling with her friends at how whipped he sounded. She didn’t even know you were behind her - she didn’t even know who you were. When you heard her friends gossiping about ‘Penny’s new plaything’ in the library. When the boy with the flowers that day at Penny’s house had told Yanjun to watch out and he had shaken his head and told him he didn’t know what he was talking about.
You had always known Yanjun was rather blind to the things happening around him, but you never knew it was to this extent.
Then, it happened.
As if turning back the clock on that god awful night at that party, you had gone to a New Year’s party with some other friends. Yanjun and Penny had gone together, and so you spent the night giggling in a corner with Zhangjing, the cute, elfish boy from Home Ec.
You had heard the situation before you really knew what was going on - the loud shout that was easily identifiable even over the party noise and the fact that he was upstairs and you were down. You and Zhangjing exchanged a glance, moving toward the stairway to see what all the fuss was about. You knew it was Yanjun yelling upstairs, and he definitely sounded angry. Your heart was beating in your chest as you tried to push past the small crowd of drunk people gathered at the bottom of the stairs. You made it close enough to see the top of Yanjun’s head and clearly hear the words he was saying.
“What the fuck?” He had yelled. The sheer volume of his voice commanded an awkward silence from the room. Like in movies where the music screeches to a stop and everybody gets quiet. It wasn’t quite like that - the trashy hits were still playing loudly and a nervous chattered settled over the room, but all you could hear was Yanjun and the heartbreak in his voice.
“The fuck are you doing, Penny?” He yelled, not as loud as the first time. Your stomach sank, shifting so you could try and see more than Yanjun’s face, which was red right to the tips of his ears. You finally pushed to the forefront of the small crowd and took a deep breath as you assessed the situation. Penny stood in the doorway to one of the bedrooms; her black hair was messy and her face was flushed with embarrassment. The back of her dress was unzipped and she was holding the top of it over her chest with one arm.
Yanjun’s attention moved from her to the man standing behind her - the fly of his jeans was undone and he was shirtless. He gently pushed Penny back into the room with one arm. This seemed to piss Yanjun off even more, and he let out one last “what the fuck, man?” before he lunged forward as if to grab the boy by his invisible collar.
Your eyes widened as he leaned off with his fist raised, and before you could stop yourself, you yelled out “Yanjun!”
He swung and missed the boy, looking down at you over the stairs with wide eyes. You saw the other boy wrinkle his nose in anger and before you could even react, his fist collided with Yanjun’s face.
You were immediately racing up the stairs, shaking off Zhangjing’s hand that closed around your arm to pull you back. Yanjun stumbled backward and his back hit the wall, hand cradling his nose. A series of shouts sounded off behind you, various screeches of your name, Yanjun’s and the boy. You knew you weren’t thinking clearly, not when you wedged yourself between Yanjun and the boy and shoved the boy back with two hands on his bare chest, nearly knocking him into Penny as he stumbled backward, obviously drunk.
You knew it was stupid - Yanjun called your name and grabbed your arm, yanking you back behind him as the boy came forward like he’d hit you instead of Yanjun. It was okay - it was fine. You could take it if he hit you, but you couldn’t see Yanjun get hit again.
Now there were more people in the hallway, shoving the boy back into the room and shouting at him. Everybody seemed to ignore you and Yanjun and finally, you cast a glance up at his face.
His brows were furrowed in anger, jaw clenched. To anyone else, he would’ve looked enraged. You saw a little further - saw the tears welling up in his eyes, the trembling of his lips below his bloodied nose.
“Come on,” you said softly. “Let’s go home.”
So home you went - Zhangjing drove you both back to your house, and you both mumbled your thank yous and walked quietly up the walkway and into the house. Music from other New Years parties was sounding off in every direction, but neither of you was in the mood anymore.
You cleaned up his nose while he sat still with his eyes closed. It hurt. You knew they were closed to keep the tears at bay. As if you didn’t know him like the back of your hand.
When you finished, you sat beside him on the couch. “Yanjun,” you started.
“Don’t,” he said weakly. “Don’t say ‘I told you so’, Y/N.”
“I won’t,” you promised, frowning. “You know I won’t.”
He sighed, his arm covering his face as he sank into the couch. “But you did tell me so. God, everyone told me so. I’m an idiot.”
You smiled, glad his eyes were covered. He really was, sometimes.
“You’re not an idiot,” you chastised him. “Love.. makes people blind.”
He moved his arm, peering at you with puffy eyes. There it was again - that teary, heartbroken look that had shown up on your doorstep that night you fought. It broke your heart all over again.
He sniffled, and you fought back tears of your own as his face crumpled up and tears rolled from his eyes and down over his temples. “Oh, Yanjun,” you murmured. He sat up and buried himself in your arms, shoulders shaking with sobs as you carded your fingers through his hair. “It’s alright,” you soothed even though you knew it was anything but. “Don’t cry.”
He was holding you tight, face buried in your neck where warm tears were falling on your shoulder. With the hand not running through his hair, you rubbed up and down his back, feeling the jump every time he took another breath that came out as a horrible sob.
You were glad he couldn’t see you staring at the ceiling, fighting back tears of your own. You weren’t sure how many more times you could do this for him, even though you would have been there for him for another lifetime or two.
Eventually, his crying slowed and he pulled back, allowing you to wipe the tears from his face with your thumbs the very same way you had when the girl who sat two seats ahead and one to the left in fifth grade broke his heart.
“Y/N,” he said, a hiccup in his voice. “I’m sorry.”
You frowned, pushing his hair back from his forehead. “For what?”
You swallowed hard when you saw how intently he was looking at you. “You told me, right? I’m so stupid..” He seemed like he was talking to himself, and you were about to console him when he continued. “You’re always there for me when I’m dumb, and you never complain. Always. Why do you do that? Why do you put up with me?”
You swallowed hard and bit down on your tongue. The timing was very, very bad, but it was right there on at the back of your mouth and you had never struggled so much to bite back the words you were dying to say to him.
“Y/N? What is it?”
“Because I love you,” you blurted out.
Fuck, you thought, and nothing else. Your mind went blank as you tried to time travel thirty seconds back when you hadn’t just told your best friend that you love him and seen the expression on his face change from one of confusion, because there was something in your tone that was very different this time, to wide-eyed realization.
“You… do?”
You stared back at him, unable to look away from his brown eyes demanding an answer.
“Yeah,” you said weakly. “I love you. I’m sorry.”
He stared at you a second longer with eyes still puffy and red from crying and you were both painfully silent. You thought your heart should have been beating fast - but it was slow, almost lethargic. Waiting.
“God, I am so stupid,” he finally breathed.
Before you could think of a response, he wrapped his arms around you and pulled you as close to him as you could be. Your arms folded awkwardly between both of your chests and you stared at his neck, confused as to what he was thinking.
He pulled away after a moment and his hands lingered on your shoulders, his eyes, now devoid of traces of unhappiness, scanning your face like he could read your mind.
“That makes so much sense,” he said, as if to himself. “I mean I never really thought you would ever - but deep down I always knew that you were special, I thought it was just platonic but hearing you say that - God, you have really bad timing, you know that, Y/N?”
Your face broke out in a smile and you felt a million times less nervous than you had previously. “I know,” you admitted. “I’m sorry.”
He smiled, too. Your favorite dimpled smile at your new favorite moment.
“How long?” He asked. The tone of his voice suggested he was afraid of your answer, and his face fell when you responded; “forever, I guess.”
“Y/N,” he chided sadly. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
You sighed, looking down at your lap. It was weird how your world had shifted so quickly in just one night.
“I was scared,” you said, voice small. “I knew you didn’t like me back.”
“I did,” he said abruptly. “Maybe,” he looked frustrated as he tried to figure out just what he was feeling. “Maybe not in the same way that you did. I don’t know how to explain it. I’d compare everyone to you, and deep down I knew that no one ever measured up. You’re my favorite person. My best friend.”
He paused, staring off into nowhere before a small smile crept onto his face. “Maybe the best things can be right in front of you and you can still miss them.”
You smiled, feeling your chest grow warm at his words. “Maybe, for someone as slow as you.”
He shot you a look and you both laughed, bodies relaxing back into the couch as the weight of the past hour or so settled over you. It wasn’t a heavy weight - more like a warm blanket settling over you. Everything was new, and yet the feeling felt all too familiar.
You cast your gaze back up to the clock on the wall and gasped when you saw the time. It was seven minutes to midnight, and you were sure as hell not going to miss the fireworks.
“Yanjun! We have to get to the roof!” You called, quickly standing up from the couch and getting your warm coat and a blanket. He looked up at the clock, confused before he also gasped, standing up and putting on his warm clothes alongside you.
The two of you ran upstairs, ghosts of the little kids so many New Year’s ago who wouldn’t have believed it if they could see you as you were now. You weren’t sure the girl you were yesterday would believe to see where you were now.
You flung open the upstairs window and Yanjun crawled out first, cursing as he slid around on the icy roof. You pushed the blankets out after him and he quickly spread one out to block the slippery surface. He smiled at you as he reached inside to help you into your place beside him.
You sat next to him, feeling the cold nip at your skin even after you sat shoulder to shoulder wrapped up in a blanket. Clouds of your breath formed in front of your faces, looking down at the dark street below. The sound of music could still be heard from somewhere close but far away, and you took a moment to come back to earth and realize just how new this new year would be.
Yanjun was still the Yanjun you had always known, sitting so close beside you with his knees pulled to his chest and his teeth chattering quietly. Something was different now - like there was a pulse in the air between the two of you that hadn’t been there before. It only got stronger when he turned his head to look down at you.
“Y/N,” he started. His voice was quiet - laced thick with something you’d never heard before. You watched carefully as he swallowed. “I really want to kiss you right now, but the timing is all wrong and that would be really asshole-ish of me.”
Your eyes widened in surprise, and you wished you could have stopped yourself from looking from his eyes to his lips. He swallowed again, and you reveled in the tinge of nervousness in his eyes when you looked back up.
You weren’t really concerned with timing anymore.
You reached up, taking hold of his jaw and sitting up just enough so you could kiss him. You felt his eyelashes brush your cheek, the furrow of his eyebrows and his hands settling at the base of your spine like he needed something to anchor himself too.
You pulled away after a moment, not because you wanted too, but because you were eager to see the look in his eyes when you did. It made your whole body fill with tiny, tickling sparks when you saw the warmth in his eyes, crinkling slightly when he breathed a laugh against your lips.
“Yeah, I really am stupid.”
Then his hand was in your hair, pulling you back so he could kiss you like it was the single most important thing in the world. Sure, you could say the timing was wrong all you want, and you could hate how tropey your life was until its bitter end, but there was just no denying the feeling in your chest when he pulled away to the sound of a hundred fireworks going off all around town and ringing in the new year.
You both turned to watch the little sparks of color shoot up into the sky and explode. Your timing wasn’t bad at all, really. The New Year had brought many new things - it brought Yanjun’s hand in yours, that sparkle in his eye, this feeling in the air and the single thing you had wished on countless times on every star for years on end.
Finally, even if it was just a little bit, just a little spark before the firework ignites and blooms; the boy you loved finally loved you back.

Yet another ask! (I'm on fire!) Nine percents reaction to their significant other getting a non-ideal grade and feeling down
NINE PERCENT REACTION: S/O FEELING DOWN BECAUSE OF A BAD GRADE
ZhangJing:
He’d feel really bad whenever you were down. He knew you were smart, smarter than any of the guys at least. He would reassure you and try to tell you a funny story about the guys, or just cuddle with you on the couch till you felt better. He’d make sure to help you study for your next test and overall be real soft with you.
“It’s okay, you’ll make it up with the next one. I’ll help you study next time!”
Yanjun:
He’d probably first try to tell you one of his amazing jokes trying to cheer you up. If that didn’t work, he’d take it a little more seriously, and reassure you that you were smart and one grade didn’t matter. He’d make sure to try to boost your self-esteem, even if it were at his own expense.
“People like us are already attractive, we don’t need to be smart too. That would be unfair to everyone else,”
Zhengting:
This is when ZhengTing’s motherly instincts would come into play. He’d assure you that you tried your best and that was all that mattered and you’d make it up next time. He’d cuddle you and distract you with a movie until you forgot about it. He’d hate seeing you sad, so anything you wanted he’d get for you in times like these.
“You’ll do better right? If you want ice cream, I’ll go get it for you.”
Ziyi:
He’d feel awful that you felt bad. He’d do his best to cheer you up. He’d probably perform a little rap for you to get you to smile. He’d cuddle with you, if you were the type that needed it when you felt down. If you needed reassurance he would tell you anything and everything you wanted to hear. He’s a really caring guy and he’d do whatever you needed.
“You’re smart Y/N. Do you need some cuddling? Or should I go get you some cake? I’ll do whatever it is.”
Xukun:
Xukun just kinda seems like the overachieving type, but he’s probably gotten some bad grades before. He’d be understanding of how upsetting this could be for you, he’d even go so far as to do some aegyo is he thought it would make you feel better. He’d probably decide that laughter is the best remedy for your sadness, and would watch some funny movie with you.
“You know what you need? Something to make you laugh,”
XiaoGui:
He’d be one of the members to take it a little more seriously when you were upset. His first instinct wouldn’t be humour, but more so some reassuring words. He’d do his best to assure you everything was fine, and one bad grade could easily be made up for when you were as smart as you are. Later on, when you felt a little bit better than he would start to crack some jokes.
“You’re the smartest person I know! You’ll make it up in no time!”
ChengCheng:
He’d be one of the members to go directly to humour to try and cheer you up. He’d try to hide the fact he was a little lost faced with this, since he’s never really been a relationship before. Once you cheered up a little bit he would tell you some reassuring words and make sure to get you anything you wanted as long as you wanted it. Afterwards, he’d expect some sort of reassurance that he’s doing the right thing.
“I made you smile! You feel better right? Right? I’m a good boyfriend Y/N?”
Linong:
He’d be one of the members to take it a little more seriously. He’s a really empathetic person so he’d hate seeing anyone sad, especially you! He’d make sure to reassure you first, he’d give you a big hug and cuddle you if that’s what worked. Once you felt a little better, he’d offer to get you whatever you needed, he just really wanted to see you smile again.
“You’re feeling a little better? Do you want me to go get some chocolate or we can watch a Disney movie?”
Justin:
He’d be a little lost. He had a minimal to no relationship experience before this, and he had gotten bad grades before but he didn’t ever really get upset because of it. He’d try to say some reassuring words, but they’d come out awkward and forced. He’d give up and crack some jokes. When it would work, you’d both agree he should just stick to comedy because being sentimental wasn’t his greatest strength.
“Next time I’ll just start cracking jokes at the very beginning, save us both some pain and suffering,”
Thanks for requesting! I hope you like it! Keep requesting!

nine percent reacts! love at first sight
requested by @xiaojuxiyou : Will you please write a love at first sight reaction/scenario for Nine Percent? admin: jade genre: fluff author’s note: i’m sorry if these are repetitive,, warnings: none!
z h a n g j i n g
He sat around the company building. Not much on his agenda so he was enjoying his free time. When you passed by his eyes were drawn to you and he couldn’t take them off of you. “My name is zhangjing,” he smiled up at you as you smiled back. He started up a conversation and didn’t want to stop talking to you. It may have been bold for him to think but it felt right to say he fell in love with you at first sight.
y a n j u n
He was waiting for one of the members to get ready. Yanjun lost his patience so he stood outside and waited. It was a fairly nice day, the sun was out and the weather was on the warmer side. He watched as you walked by and his jaw dropped a little. He couldn’t seem to bring his attention anywhere else, he soon followed and asked for your name. He didn’t wait too long before sending a text. “It’s it to brave of me to say i already think i fell in love with you at first sight”
z h e n g t i n g
He sat around the restaurant. He nervously wiped his palms on his pants as he waited for you. He never went on a blind date before and his nerves were worse than they’ve ever been before. When you walked through the door he thought you were gorgeous. He introduced himself quickly and smiled as he heard you talk. “If I’m being honest y/n, I think I’m falling in love with you, I know people think it’s a myth. But now here with you, i realized it’s true”
z i y i
He smiled as he sat around in the park. It was a boring day and not much was happening back at the dorms so he went for a walk. He sat on the bench and drew little cartoons. He sensed the figure that was sitting next to him and he picked his head up. He looked at you in awe. “Hi,” he smiled as he started up a conversation. He kept telling you jokes and you couldn’t help but giggle. You were absolutely perfect to ziyi and when you have him your number he was beyond excited to call you later.
x u k u n
He thanked the costumer and gave them their coffee as they left. He hummed and started to clean the cappuccino machine. He turned around and looked at you. “Hi, how can I help you?” He smiled softly as you smiled back and ordered your drink. He made it extra carefully, occasionally looking back at you. He looked at you as he handed you the coffee. You smiled as you took the cup, you saw writing on the side and smiled. “I’d like to get to know you better, just so I know this phenomenon of falling in love at first sight is true. -Xukun. Call me XXX-XXXX”
x i a o g u i
He sighed as he walked through the store, looking for a gift for Xukun to celebrate his tour. He picked something up as his hand brushed against yours. “I’m sorr…” he started but looked at you in awe. “Woah,” he covered his mouth and blushed as you looked at him. “It’s okay,” you smiled shyly as he looked at you a little longer than most people would. “Can I have your number?” He asked, not wanting to admit his feelings right away.
c h e n g c h e n g
He ate his ice cream in peace by himself. He left the dorm because it was too nosy with zhangjing and yanjun bickering. He ate and finished then walked back over to get some more. When he saw you he blinked in awe of how breathtaking you were. “May I have your number?” He covered his mouth and giggled sheepishly then looked at you. “Sorry, you’re just amazing, and I’d like to get to know you,”
l i n o n g
Linong was always a shy boy, afraid to admit his feelings but when he passed by you at the mall he was in awe and shocked that his first thought was. “I need to get their number,, he took a deep breath then walked over to you. “Hi, my name is linong,” he gave you his little eye smile and you smiled back and he asked for your number when you gave it to him he grinned. “Thank you, as soon as I saw you my heart fluttered and I was hoping that you would give me your number,” he blushed.
j u s t i n
He was still young and a bit dumb when it comes to love. But when he saw you pass by him on the street it was like his heart pulled him to you. He walked over to you and asked for your number, he was shocked to see himself doing this because he wasn’t like this. He usually just saw someone attractive and brush it off like it was nothing. When he told the boys at dinner he could only express us as love at first sight.

Yanjun, Chengcheng, Xukun, Linong reaction to their mentor s/o doing a collaboration stage with another guy
@fantasticcoldflower asked: Hello sweetie ! Can i request a reaction of Yanjun, ChengCheng, Kunkun and Nongnong when their Mentor!s/o is doing the collaboration stage with a lot of skinship and eye-contact with another guy ? Thanks ♡
Lin Yanjun: Junnie would be petty with the other dude who was dancing with you. After you finished and got off the stage, Yanjun would be there to greet and hug you. He would subtly try to shed you away from the dude, while not letting you know that he is jealous. “You did so well babe!” “Um.. Junnie why are you squishing my face into your chest? I can’t breath” “Shhhh”
Fan Chengcheng: Chengcheng here will be very jealous that someone other than him is touching you. He’s still a baby, so he does get a bit protective when it comes to you and doesn’t really know what’s love. All he knows is that he must protect you and give you everything you desire because that’s what you deserve. To him, that’s love.
Cai Xukun: Kunkun would try to ignore his jealous feelings and instead, focus on the song and dancing. He would cheer you on nonetheless and give you his full support. Be sure to reassure him that you love him once every while because everytime you tell him those three words, his smile won’t ever leave.
Chen Linong: I don’t really see nongnong being a very jealous person, but he does get those feelings once in a while. He would try to calm down by spraying mist and tell himself that you love him too much to leave him.

9 Percent “You spend a lot of time with another member”
Ask: hello ~ Could I request a reaction for nine percent members when the get jealous because you spend too much time with another member?thanks❤P.S: I really like your blog, I always read it when I get home and I never dared to write to you but you need to know that you have a little friend here. You make my day better 💕
You Zhangjing:
Lin Yanjun was one of Zhangjing’s best friends, but Zhangjing was insecure about things. Especially when he saw you hanging out Yanjun more and more. Yanjun was tall, handsome, funny in his own special way and Zhangjing was jealous.
Pulling you to the side, you could tell something was bothering him. “I like that you and Yanjun get along. But don’t fall for him. Please.” He said and you paused for a moment, not expecting that. “I didn’t realise I was spending so much time with him.” You said and grabbed his hand. “Don’t worry. You’re the only one for me.”
Lin yanjun:
Yanjun never liked admitting his insecurities, he had a hard time doing it with his members and you. So when you were spending an awful lot of time with Zhengting he didn’t want to mention it too much. But you could tell by the way he was treating you when Zhengting was around the both of you, he was upset.
“You have been moody all day. What is wrong?” You asked him frustrated, when you two were alone. “You and Zehngting are always together. I’m your boyfriend you know.” He snapped and left the room. He would need time to think before resolving this.
Zhu Zhengting:
He felt crazy being jealous of a 16 year old. Zhengting new full and well that you spent time with Justin because you cared for him like a little brother. It wasn’t the way you treated Justin that made him jealous, it was the time you spent with him.
“I baby Justin too, but I still make time to see you and spend time with you.” Zhengting said as Justin left the room. You hadn’t realised you were coddling the kid so much. “I’m sorry baby, I’ll coddle you instead.”
Wang Ziyi:
Ziyi liked to consider himself very calm and relaxed when it came to you. He wasn’t insecure and he trusted you. But seeing you spend your time with Xukun made him hurt a little. Especially hearing your laugh from the other side of the room as he teased you. He wasn’t worried about Xukun making a move on you or vice versa, but he just didn’t understand why you were spending your time with Xukun while you could hang out with him.
“Ziyi, join us.” You beckoned for your boyfriend to sit with you and Xukun. Wrapping your arms around him as he sat, Ziyi realised he had nothing to worry about and that he enjoyed the fact that you two were friends.
Cai Xukun:
He was being ridiculous, he realised that himself. There was nothing weird about your friendship with Ziyi and he knew that. But the protective boyfriend in him was saying otherwise and he just wanted your attention. Even Ziyi noticed Xukun acting odd because of that.
“You should go spend some time with your boyfriend. We’ll hang out later.” Ziyi said and watched you walk over to Xukun. You ran your figners through your boyfriend’s hair as he pouted. “I’m sorry.” You mumbled and he smiled. “It’s okay.”
Xiao Gui/Wang Linkai:
Linkai got jealous, easily. You should have figured he wouldn’t enjoy you hanging out with Chengcheng all the time. But you didn’t put two and two together after you went out to eat with Chengcheng for the 3rd time that week. When you got back to the dorm, Linkai was visibly pissed and Chengcheng slipped past so you two could hash it out.
“Again, really?” He said and you looked at him. “I know it doesn’t mean anything, I just want you to spend time with me.” Linkai said and grabbed your hand gently. “I’m sorry baby. I’ll pay attention to you more and go out with you more and take care of you more.” You said and he wrapped his arms around your waist. “That was all I wanted.”
Fan Chengcheng:
Linkai was such a good friend to you, naturally you wanted to spend time with him. Chengcheng didn’t have problem with it at first. But before he even noticed himself, he was watching you two with a sour face and clearly irritated. You had just kicked Linkai’s ass and the male was sulking as you did your winners dance.
“Stop looking so sour.” Zhengting said and Chengcheng huffed. “I’m not looking sour.” Chengcheng mumbled and Zhengting laughed. “Yeah sure.” Zhengting said and joined you and Linkai on the couch.
Chen Linong:
The smile on his face when he realised how well you got along with his other members was uncanny. But that smile slowly faded when he took note of how much time you were spending with Zhangjing. Linong was so positive when it came to you, he hated feeling so shitty about it.
Zhangjing was teaching you how to hit high notes, something Linong hadn’t fully mastered yet. But he couldn’t help but feel jealousy every time you two laughed. Linong sat next to you and tucked his face into your neck as you sang. You were having fun and he could push his jealous feelings aside for you, easily. “You sound pretty good.”
Justin/Minghao:
(I’ll add a different photo when I get home the gifs wouldn’t load in the train)
Minghao didn’t get jealous. Or so he thought, no one expected confident little Minghao to get jealous over his members and you. But Linong was handling you with extreme care and treating you the way a best friend did.
Minghao thought for a brief moment that you saw Linong as more than a friend but he realised he was wrong when you came over to him. “You don’t mind me hanging out with Linong do you?” You asked and the boy shook his head. “No I don’t mind. Just remember you love me.”

Nine Percent: Their crush liking another member
[A/N] No gifs belong to me! Request are open :)
Cai Xukun
You had been closest to Xukun out of all the boys which is why you decided to tell him about your crush on Zhangjing. Xukun was surprised but he wanted to give you some help. He would start having you spend more one-on-one time with Zhangjin. His crush would begin to fade as he saw how happy you are with Zhangjing and that is what he always wanted, you to be happy.
“Hey, just try your best. You and Jing-ge look cute together.”
Chen Linong
Everybody knew about Nongnong’s obvious crush on you and they were always trying to help him out. Until one day you had pretty much you admitted your crush on Yanjun in front of all the dudes. Of course, the news took Nong by surprise but he placed a smile on his face when he heard the news. Linong always had a feeling that you didn’t share the same feelings as him so he tried to put it past him. He didn’t want to become annoying to you. He would encourage you to go after Yanjun.
“Ah, You and Yanjun-ge? I hope it works out well!”
Fan Chengcheng
You like Justin? When Chengcheng heard that he almost spit out the drink in his mouth. How was that possible? Justin was his wingman helping Cheng not be a whole blushing mess in front of you. Now he sees that it backfired on him, he didn’t know how to react. Cheng knew it wasn’t your fault that you fell for his best friend but it broke his heart. Chencheng started to avoid you whenever you would come over because he would want to try and get over his crush as soon as possible.
“oh...yeah Justin’s great...”
Justin
Justin was jealous when he found out you had a crush on Linong. Justin had always thought you had a little flirty-borderline-dating relationship. He spent hours texting and teasing you but when you confessed that you had feelings towards Nongnong, he felt nothing but envy. Justing and Nong were practically opposites which caused him to question you. Why did you like him? What did Nong have that he didn’t? He would still decide to be close to you but he would keep his feelings to himself, trying to get over the crush and jealousy he felt towards you and Nongnong.
“S-so what do you like so much about Nongnong-ge?”
Lin Yanjun
When Yanjun found out that you had a crush on Xukun, he felt jealous. It gave him more of a reason to try and woo you. He would notice you staring at Xukun and it would make him jealous but he wouldn’t do anything dirty like telling you lies about Xukun. He would get you to like him with his own ability. Yanjun wasn’t someone to give up but he wasn’t going to make you uncomfortable either. He made it his goal to make you fall for him, no matter how long it took.
“You like Xukun? Okay. Wanna go get some coffee with me?”
Zhu Zhengting
Zhengting was living in his own fantasy thinking that you had a crush on him he was waiting for the right moment to confess but when you told him you had a crush on Xiao Gui he was taken back. When Zhengting caught you being a stuttering mess in front of Xiao Gui, he knew that he couldn’t make you look at him the way you look at him. Even though it hurt him to do so, he decided to give up on you, He wanted to support you the way that a friend should
“Gui? I saw you being so shy in front of him...I can help with that!”
Wang Ziyi
Ziyi had his crush very hidden, nobody knew about it. He would be texting you about love one day, trying to find some other points of view for a rap he was writing which lead into the way you told him you like Zhengting. Ziyi read the text over and over again, he could tell that you couldn’t properly convey your true feelings through the text because you had a lot more to say. Ziyi smiled at the screen. Of course, he liked you but seeing you happy made him happy too, he wanted to ignore his feeling and help you.
“Love is all about effort, just put in your best and it can work out.”
Xiao Gui
You and Xiao Gui were practically best friends. He spent most of time off with you because he just loved to be around you no matter what it was. His feelings were so pure, he held his tongue from confessing to you on numerous occasions. When you told him that you had a huge crush on Chengcheng, he was totally numb. Xiao Gui never expected to hear that, he wouldn’t know how to react so he kept quiet about it around you but back at the dorm he would be an emotional mess, he would snap over the smallest things.
“Yeah, yeah maybe we could get Chengcheng to hang out with us sometimes..”
You Zhangjing
When you told Zhangjing that you liked Ziyi. He would in a bit of a shock but he would deal with it maturely. He would let out a little giggle and then ask you about how your whole crush started. After telling him how it all began, he would let out a sigh which confused you at first. Zhangjing would be honest with you and tell you that he had feelings for you as well but he would end his statement by cheering you on. He had the thought that if his heart wasn’t broken by the news that you like Ziyi then he could get over his crush.
“Seeing how much you like Ziyi reminds me of why I like you but don’t worry, I’m giving you my support! Go get him!”
