one of the things i love about the show is like.

in s1 he's supposed to save this terrible team from relegation, but oops it's a taller order than anticipated and oops maybe he's not quite okay himself

in s2 he slumps back through the door with his tail between his legs and has to admit yeah maybe he fucked some things because yeah maybe his father damaged him a little more than he wanted to say and okay okay, maybe he's actually got a lot of work to do

in s3 he's putting the work in. he's making changes in himself, he's facing his problems and he's doing so well with it that he.....has a complete emotional breakdown. because hey uh *nervous laughter* what do you do once you start letting go of your maladaptive coping mechanisms?? haha no seriously haha how do you be okay now??? and the man he loves has no idea how to help him and can only try to be present with him while he struggles and tries to figure it all out. and ultimately he has to fucking rally and he's gotta pick his whole self up and tell people thank you and tell people fuck you and make the daily choice to move forward with his life.

okay wtf guys im actually gonna cry :). thank y'all so much for all the love you have given me.

im gonna start by apologising because I have not been that active. i went and saw challengers, started watching ted lasso and got into professional cycling, and my exams are just about to finish and im gonna be honest i have been just reading fanfiction based on those. (because my ADHD hyperfixation has hit this point)

also small apology to the people waiting on the bachelor fic, i've rewritten the first chapter twice, but rest assured once i get the first chapter out of the way, the next few will come in quicker

But I am getting back into the hot men of f1, thank god, and initially this celebration was going to be closer to july, but here we are, and so this event will run a while.

Basically to explain it's an f1 x olympics!reader :) because i have a hyperfixation on the olympics

Okay, so I have actually been feeling like my dash is a bit dead especially during the week...which could also just be that I'm a bit busy lately and haven't been able to check it as much but even checking my fellow close mutuals blogs and show tags (a shock that I'm doing that I assure you) there hasn't been too much I have found to keep my queue full. 9 People You Want To Know Better!

Three ships: I'm terrible at picking a favorite anything, or even a top 3, I have like 12 or 13 ships that I'm equally obsessed with... But these are *SOME* of them. <3

Emisue (Dickinson)

Is it a gay thing to have beautiful kisses that look like a Renaissance painting? They're such a beautiful ship, but they impacted me on a personal as well. This was the first time I saw a queer ship that was beautifully written, had loads of chemistry and was executed with care (the fact they had so many queer people and women on the show, specially Ella - who played Sue - made everything even better). They weren't your subtle and digestible queer ship for conservatives and they weren't overly sexualized for straight people with a fetish. They were something else. The way their problems weren't really about being queer/internalized queerphobia and even individual things like Emily's 'coming out scenes' being full of acceptance, support and even celebration were SO FULFILLING. It was amazing to watch from a viewer point of view, but also really formative to me as I came to find and embrace more of myself.

Malina (Shadow and Bone)

Mind you that they aren't even together here, they're just imagining each other, it's just that the chemistry was THAT awesome. First love. Childhood love. Friends to lovers. Linked by destiny. Can just sense one another. They'll always find each other. But they also chose one another and made their own story in a way destiny never could do it for them. The world against them and them against the world. "It was always you". Malina mixed all my favorite tropes and some that I hated with a passion and created a masterpiece.

Royjamie (Ted Lasso)

A lot of their problems stemmed from the fact they were thirst for each other and they would've fixed things sooner if they'd just been grown ups about it and fucked yk. These two were meant to be a big part of each other's arc, but the fact they got even bigger than what it was initially planned because the actors were inseparable and crazy about each other? And the chemistry was that amazing? And how they grew so much as individuals and boyfriends through the seasons? And 3x06 that was basically the cutest and longest date ever with them exploring Amsterdam from morning to late at night, opening up, trying new things, riding a bike together etc? And how Phil and Brett are just one of the cutest, messiest, most insane and chaotic best bros in real life who kind of lost focus and had a consensual workplace relationship just makes everything SO MUCH BETTER.

First ship: I can't remember for sure, but if this wasn't the very first, it was the second, tops.

Villadero/Cordueva (Jane the Virgin)

Jane and Michael are really special to me because I think so often couples are about the flirting, sensuality and physical attraction, and it's not that they don't have that because they definitely do, but I think ships usually lack more. And when they do have more, it's usually a will-they-won't-they, on-and-off, love triangles, fights etc, because apparently writers believe dragging things out to the point it gets unbearable is better than just letting them have a stable and deep relationship? Specially back then, now things are getting better (I still think we're taking baby steps, but at least there's some progress), but Jane and Michael were the VERY FIRST couple I saw having that kind of relationship and it was a life-changing moment in television for me. That's not to say they didn't have some of those problems, they did, but they actually worked on them and evolved as people and a couple. I got to see them from their first meet cute (and it was the BEST meet cute ever), him getting a noise complaint about her 21st birthday party and a drunk Jane confusing him for a stripper, grabbing and shooting his gun, only to find out he was a real cop and then not only he didn't arrest her, but spent the whole night talking to her while she sobers up, getting to genuinely know her until it was morning?! Really, doesn't get more wholesome than that. And I saw them become full committed adults who grew together through the years, them working on their careers, Jane starting her first book, Michael getting his first medal, Michael being a close friend to her parents instead of just being a son-in-law to them, the two getting married, living together, being a family, going back home to each other at the end of a long day, going out to have some fun time... Being more than just two people who are attracted to each other, but two people who loved fully each other in every aspect of the word, who were best friends, confidants, who genuinely enjoyed each other's company, who would crack up out loud together, that had a life inside and inside and out of home. It was a gift. And so much of it was the natural chemistry of the actors that got along so well and loved that pairing, too. No wonder the entire cast rooted for them.

Last song: Fur Elise by Faouzia

There are ONLY THREE singers/groups in the world that I'm truly obsessed with and Faouzia is one of them. Her music is out-of-this world, specially her powerful voice and beautiful melodies (she has my favorite melodies ever). Tomorrow she'll be on the finals of a singing competition and she really deserves to win, specially after working herself like crazy making, recording AND releasing new songs, music videos, commercials, doing full concerts and even learning a bit of freaking Chinese ALL IN JUST *TWO* MONTHS! As I get ready to vote like crazy for her tomorrow, I'm listening to all of her songs for good luck. :p And Fur Elise is one of my favorite songs ever and a true masterpiece.

Last TV show: Interview with the Vampire.

Currently reading: Six of Crows by Lady Bardugo, but I'm gonna start The Vampire Chronicles soon. I have no idea if I will like them, let alone love it as much as the show (it's my favorite show in the universe), but I'm so curious to get to know the characters, be able to fully talk about the universe with other fans and know what can possibly happen in the future seasons that I will do it anyway... I just need to figure out where to begin, because I want to skip the first book (for now) since the show has already covered it. I hope it's possible to start with a book that has all the main characters that appear on the show, but I'm still gathering information to know what's necessary to read and what isn't, the best order to do it etc. :p Anyway, I have attention issues so that will surely be tricky, but I'm just so curious about IWTV that I have to do it, lol. And I also can't drop SoC or I'll forget it and will have to start it from scratch all over again... I've read like 3/4 of the book so I can't let that go to waste either lmao. I'll just give certain days of the week to each book and eventually finish them (hopefully in time for season 3), lol.

Currently watching: Still Up, Silo, House of the Dragon, The Purge, The Lazarus Project. I'm pretty early into these shows and don't really know what to think about them yet, though. I do have a soft spot for Antonia Thomas because she played one of my favorite and nicest characters ever (Claire Browne, The Good Doctor), so it's good to see her face. And Silo has Chinaza Uche, who had a supporting role in Dickinson, but he was so charismatic that I wanted to see him have a longer screen time somewhere else. I hear he's been promoted to a bigger role on season 2, so let's hope I make that far and get to see him shine lol. I also have some shows with sapphic and/or non-binary/androgynous/fluid characters people recommended that I'm gonna try. :)

Currently eating: Nothing, but the last thing was steak, rice and potatoes. :p

Currently craving: Also nothing, but the last time I craved anything was a cheeseburger with cheddar. Not even joking when I say it's been over a year since I had one lol. #fml

Ted Lasso Season Finale Thoughts

Because for fuck's sake, Apple, if this is the series finale — I really need to teach y'all about how to do proper marketing. For fuck's sake.

I have *thoughts* for the last episode and I want to put my prediction out there now. Oy is it long...

So we know a lot of this show is a mirror of Sudeikis' life (and we know where he is in the breakup/custody battle based on Ted's emotional state.) taking that premise...WHAT IF...

Let's look at the facts:

Dottie said about Henry missing his dad

When Henry visits he's just so sad and how much he hates having the most frequent flier miles

problems in school (Failing Science, I sympathize Henry)

the bullying (even if that was solved)

Ted's decision to go back to Kansas isn't a permanent move whatsoever — it's to bring Henry home to Richmond.

With how the penultimate episode ended, we assume that Ted's truth bomb is he's leaving. What if, instead, he asks for a brief leave of absence. Leaving but not permanently. Nate is coming back, so the team for their last game is in good hands.

What happens next can go one of three ways:

Mirroring JSuds's life: Ted sues for custody. He gets Henry during the school year; Michelle has him during the summer. And Henry gets to be raised by Ted and Trent and the rest of the himbos. (Probably NOT what will happen, but, bears being included).

Ted arrives in Kansas, and is greeted by Michelle. A Michelle who has done some soul-searching and realizing that Henry needs his dad. After Henry snubs Dr Jake... she does what's right for Henry even if it's hard for her to say goodbye.

Michelle has finally come to her senses about Jake and decides it's time to move to London.

No matter which way they go, the last episode is about bringing Henry home... not Ted returning. Because Ted's home is Richmond. That's where his support system is. This where Henry can thrive. There's no place like Richmond home.

So Long, Farewell — it's not Ted saying goodbye to Richmond; It's Henry saying goodbye to Kansas.

There's the satisfying ending to S3 that's been built up since the pilot. The show has paid off everything it's said it's going to do. But it sets up for a S4 if we get one. How? If Ted's not there when they win... he wasn't there to win the whole fucking thing.

Guess they'll just have to go for back-to-back EPL wins and win the whole fucking thing... again!

AND, because of course I have to throw some Tedependent vibes here...

The episode can still end with a lovely voice over by Trent reading from his book. It pulls back to Trent having a book signing and being swamped by adoring fans. With his partner, Ted, right at his side. 💖 And who knows, Trent might even go back to Kansas with Ted as some moral support.

hello!!! your ask finds me in one of my labs, hunkered down between classes.

it's completely alright to ask! there's always a chance I'll go back to any of my drafts [including anything I've posted to ao3 and unfortunately abandoned over the years], but I'm still working on my longer ted lasso fic [which is now at 123k! very weird to know I wrote that much] and I'm a bit worried that trying to revisit an older draft might knock me out of my groove before I finish it.

that being said! I still do incredibly appreciate all the love you + others have given the draft so far; it's so sweet to see people so passionate about something I'm playing around with [and I think of the one comic that was drawn nearly every day]. there's a scene or two that're further down the plot of the story than I wrote in the draft [ergo, doesn't take place right where the draft stops] but I'd still love to share it as a thank-you. as always, it's very unedited, very rough, but hopefully something to y'all will enjoy. :) have a nice day as well!

It’d been an hour and a half of Sinatra, Sinatra, and even more Sinatra, slowly driving a wedge into whatever Christmas spirit he still had at the ripe-old age of twenty-five. 

Teri’s parents lived all the way in the suburbs of Oklahoma City, a far cry away from his and George’s apartment in Tulsa. Usually, the traffic would make him wish for a day where faster-than-light travel was the norm, but at two in the morning on Christmas Day, I-44 had been all but deserted.

Even with the lights strung ‘round each house, little reindeer pulling plastic sleighs that gleamed back under his headlights, Robert had to turn his brights on to see the house numbers. His car slowed to a crawl, creeping through the picture of perfect suburbia. 

Each house was perfect in its own right; a blanket of snow on each lawn, a wreath on each door, a brand new car or two in each driveway. He’d bet his life savings that all (save one or two) of the houses had perfect families, too. A husband and his wife, their two kids, an overexcited dog or a temperamental cat. 

It used to nauseate him, seeing places like this, knowing this would be his life. That he’d be the father waking up on Christmas to a wife wrapped around him, that he’d have to -, do things with her that he didn’t want to think about doing. 

He shuddered, chilled despite his heater working overtime and then some. Usually, his car was on the colder side ‘cause Robert ran hot, but George was more delicate than he was. He hadn’t grown up in Oklahoma, wasn’t used to how cold the winters got. If George had it his way, they’d live in a damn blast furnace from the second the temperature began to drop. 

He parked, an inch from the curb of the nicest house he’d ever seen, staring at a mailbox that someone’d painted “The Cambells” on in curly, vintage font. 

With a pre-emptive cringe, he honked his horn, quick as he could. It was what he’d told George he’d do when he got here, letting him know he was good to run out. 

Robert stared at the door, waiting to see the familiar head of curls he’d grown fond of. He didn’t know what to expect, not after getting a frantic phone call at half-past midnight, begging for him to pick him up. 

There was a joke somewhere in there, that George got lucky that Robert’s a night owl, but before he could hoot down the phone, he’d realized George was serious. It wasn’t some midnight worry, not a kid asking his mom to pick him up ‘cause he can’t sleep without a certain blanket. 

George knew how far the drive was, how miserable it’d be to drive in the middle of the night. He knew how bad it’d be for him and Teri if he disappeared without goodbye.

And yet, he called.

Robert didn’t think there’d ever be a time in his life where he wouldn’t answer.

colinjamie have definitely watched the owl house at some point. maybe this is fresh in my head since the final episode just came out a few days ago, but i definitely see colinjamie watching the owl house together. two options:

maybe colin was chilling with his niece (i want colin to have a niece or a nephew so bad, he gives uncle vibes and also i want jamie to interact with the kid at some point too) and she was watching it and he got invested. and then jamie got invested via colin. OR. henry was visiting the stadium on spring break and mentioned the owl house to jamie, who was curious, watched and episode, and then got invested. flash forward to colinjamie fwb era and colin dropping by one day and finding jamie losing his shit over the episode hollow mind. jamie needs to lose his shit with someone and colin is the poor soul who came over for a hook up but ended up having to watch two seasons of a disney cartoon.

that being said, i also think that jamie, if he ever watched avatar the last airbender as a kid, only ever watched until mid season 2. life got more complicated and he was more concerned with playing well than "lazy" things like cartoons. he never got to zuko standing up to his dad. he'll get there someday, it's gonna be great

just the different flavors of it all. if we have it in modern times, as in, the time ted lasso is set in the show, we can do so much. ahem love the show and the ship as i do, i've never ever felt the need to write a Ted Lasso fic, because these people just don't feel like the characters i could write. and because, Teddisms? and British English? nope, wasn't going to touch that, not with my non-native unnatural mix of y'all's Englishes and natural laziness standing in my way. basically, i suspect this was written mostly out of envy (i wish i could say this is the first time) - so many fics, and none of them mine! i had to plant my flag at this summit! anyway, i know it's pretty much superficial and toothless but it's one of my babies now and i'm going to love it as long as i am breathing. also, it's been a while and damn if it didn't feel great to write something.

You and Ted were in touch just as much, if not more than you had been in London, but of course, it wasn’t the same. After a few weeks, you were more than ready to be back in his arms. The two of you were making all sorts of plans for the future and though it was still quite early in the relationship, you gave him the okay to talk to Michelle and Henry about you. Thankfully, both were happy that he was happy and on every call with Ted he asked you a question from Henry:

"What's her favorite sports team?"

"What's her favorite color?"

"What's her favorite Lego set?"

Ted also told you about Henry demanding to come visit the two of you soon. And that gave you an idea. 

Despite all three of you overlapping in your time at Wichita State, you and Michelle had never met. So when you were finished sorting out your affairs in the US, you couldn’t think of any other way to start a conversation with her then, “Hey, I’m sorry this is weird, definitely let me know if I’m overstepping…” 

Michelle, to your relief, was kind and receptive to the idea of you flying with Henry to Richmond to surprise Ted. It shouldn’t have shocked you that Ted would have an ex that was so kind, and it was abundantly clear that they’d both do anything to make Henry happy.  

The three of you met at the airport early to get to know each other in person before getting on a long-haul flight and Henry was much like his father: bright and talkative and eager to get to know you. You and Michelle spent some time talking about Wichita State, and though the two of you weren’t actively avoiding talking about Ted it was nice to genuinely connect with each other. You texted Ted when you boarded, you and Henry sharing a giggle at him having no idea he was with you. 

After watching a few movies, sleeping off and on, and playing a few Switch games, both you and Henry were more than ready to land, but the closer you got the more excited both of you were. Every step closer to Ted had you bouncing with anticipation so by the time the two of you made it through customs and baggage claim you were practically sprinting to where you knew Ted would be waiting to pick you up.

“Wait,” Henry said suddenly, yanking you to a stop accidentally because his hand had been tucked into your pocket to keep from losing you. “I should hide behind you!” 

You weighed the chances that Ted might say something inappropriate—your texts while you’d been in America were rather detailed about the things you two missed—but you figured Henry could jump out quick enough it wouldn’t be a problem. Henry started carefully walking in your footsteps so as not to be spotted. And then Ted was there, grinning in dark jeans and a hoodie.  

“You sure are a sight for sore eyes, Y/N,” Ted exclaimed when you were close enough, his arms outstretched for you and you laughed as you stepped aside so Henry could fling himself at his father. “Hen-Henry?! What are you doing here?” Ted lifted his son up, even though he was nearly too big for it, his eyes screwed shut with emotion. 

“Y/N brought me!” 

You quickly snapped a few photos and sent them to Michelle and when you put your phone away Ted was looking at you like you were made of solid gold. “She did, did she? Well, ain’t that something.”

Henry was there for two weeks and though the three of you spent time together you wanted to make sure father and son got some dedicated solo time. You were out shopping for your new flat, leaving them to their Lego-building, Star Wars-playing adventures when you stumbled across Beard and Jane. 

The two of them were sitting on a bench, enough space between them that you could have slid in the middle—which you would never, ever do. But you couldn’t deny your hackles were immediately raised. You hoped for everyone’s sake that this wasn’t a reconciliation but you also didn’t want to eavesdrop…well technically you really did want to eavesdrop but you knew you shouldn’t. Just as you turned away, you heard Jane get louder, her yelling indistinct, and when you looked again she was marching off and Beard was still slouched, his gaze fixed straight ahead. 

“Fancy a pint?” You put on your best British accent to try to get a chuckle out of him and it worked just a little, the corner of his mouth twitching. 

“Why not.” 

You didn’t make him talk about it, the two of you just mostly just chatting about your move, and AFC Richmond, and Henry. 

“It’s really done, you know,” Beard said, apropos of nothing, and you nodded. “I think she gets it. I hope she does. But at least I do. You and Ted…the two of you really help. Makes me think there’s always something good out there, where I might least expect it.” 

19 years ago

“You ever think we’d be here, Beardo?” 

Ted was tying his tie in a full-length mirror, Beard sitting on the bed behind him and lacing up his dress shoes. 

“Oh, I knew the moment I met you that you were going to be somebody’s husband. But I don’t think after everything I put you through I’d be the guy standing there next to you.” 

Ted turned, his tie now straightened, and sat down next to Beard. “You didn’t put me through a thing, my friend. I wouldn’t be half of what I am without you.” 

Ted threw his arm around his best friend’s shoulders and Beard slipped one around the man’s waist, the two of them taking a moment to appreciate the other’s presence. A knock at the door from the wedding planner announced their 10-minute warning and both of them stood, buttoning their jackets. 

“Oh, before I forget,” Beard reached into the chest pocket of his blazer and retrieved a crisp $100 bill. “Your winnings.” 

Ted chuckled, immediately remembering the bet that they’d made back in college. “This whole thing was a little skeevy, wasn’t it?” 

“Oh yeah,” Beard nodded, “we were idiots. But a deal’s a deal. And I didn’t get you a wedding gift so…” They both laughed and Ted accepted the bill, sliding it into his own pocket. 

PRESENT

The flat you’d gotten for yourself lasted barely 6 months before you asked Ted to move in, thrilled by the idea of having him close all the time. And 6 months after that, the two of you were planning a trip back to Kansas together to surprise Henry this time, arranging to pop up to see him performing as the lead in his school play. 

Beard had offered to take you both to the airport and he sent a text to let you know he was outside. 

“Come on, love,” you called out to Ted, pulling your suitcase to the front door. “Time to get a move on!” 

“Right behind you!” 

Ted was putting the last few items in his bag: an extra hat, a few more pairs of socks, and a blue velvet ring box he tucked deep in an inner pocket. He knew the ring would be burning a hole through him, he’d never been the best at secrets—but it was absolutely going to be worth it. 

You hopped out of the car at the airport, too excited to surprise Henry to not hurry ahead, tossing a quick, “thank you,” at Beard over your shoulder. Ted moved a little slower, slipping a $100 bill out of his pocket and palming it to Beard in a handshake. The stoic man’s eyebrows raised in surprise, not immediately understanding why Ted was giving him $100 for just a ride to the airport. 

“I should have known a Chessmaster like you would play the long game,” Ted explained, and Beard grinned, shaking his head. 

“After all these years, eh? Happy for you friend.” 

After surprising Henry at his play, the two of you hung out for a few days before Ted convinced you to go visit your alma mater. You rolled your eyes a little, but the idea was sweet and nostalgic. The two of you strolled campus hand-in-hand, the students dotting the place studying for finals and paying you no mind. You smirked at Ted as you came upon the theater building. 

“Did you know I used to doodle your name in my notebook during theater?”

“You did,” Ted exclaimed. “I had no idea. I was too busy constantly volunteering as people’s scene partner so I could try to get your attention.” 

You chuckled and bumped against Ted’s shoulder, but to your surprise, Ted reached for the door. “Ted! We can’t go in!” 

“Why not?”

Before you could continue to protest Ted was already slipping inside and you followed, giggling. Thankfully the room was empty and you laughed when you watched Ted go straight to his usual spot, center stage. You climbed the stairs to take your own spot, in the back row. 

“Do you have something to perform for me,” you called out, “a monologue?” 

“As a matter of fact, I do,” Ted responded seriously, and you leaned forward in your seat, curious. “Y/N, when I thought about asking you to marry me, I thought I should say something about making up for lost time or the red string of fate. I thought about telling you this was years in the making. But the truth is, I think 20 years ago we were the right people meeting at the wrong time…and now we’re the right people meeting at the right one. And if you’re amenable I think we could spend the rest of our lives together and all of our time could be the right time… Honestly, I should have practiced this more, we both know I never was much good at this.” 

You were in the back row already tearing up, a hand pressed to your trembling lips before you spoke, “You’re wonderful at this.” You made your way down to the stage and Ted got down on one knee, slipping the velvet box from his pocket.  

“Y/N, I love you. So much. And I’m beyond lucky to have met you and fallen for you twice.” You laughed as tears streamed down your face. “Will you marry me?”

“Ted, of course. Of course I will.”

I am more of a re-reader than a re-watcher, especially of late. But here's some shows I do rewatch or have rewatched, particularly when I'm bored or want something comforting.

Taskmaster: I've seen nearly every season at least twice. Absolutely my go-to for a laugh and a pick me up.

Galavant: silly, fun, short and sweet - also a go-to when I need to laugh.

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power: another short and sweet show that I've seen several times now, so I can jump in where ever I want and feel at home.

Avatar the Last Airbender: also short and sweet (are you sensing a theme), and another one I have seen enough to have favourite episodes or arcs I can skip to if I'd like.

The Good Place: I have watched this several times with different people so I have lots of good associations (plus I like the show!). Another one where I have favourite episodes I sometimes get in the mood to rewatch.

Ted Lasso: another show with good memories of watching it with others, I also just love sports media and people being friends.

My School President: I've actually only rewatched once, but I feel like I rewatch it all the time through gif sets. Just so lovely and fun in tone.

Bad Buddy: my first rewatch was a rollicking good time. This second rewatch... not so much (this show is bittersweet from the word go), but I still love my boys and this series makes me laugh. I also feel like I rewatch it all the time through gifsets and meta.

Im truly so speechless I don't even know where to begin. Number Four Was Always You was the most thoughtful and well-organized and clearly so well-loved (as the writer for their piece) fic. I haven't been so blown away by a fic in a very long time. Your character descriptions were so quintessentially accurate and truthful to the characters and their actors' portrayal of them! So many times while reading, I found myself smiling or nodding along and thinking, "yep, that definitely would've happened." I hope you know how well you wrote their voices and captured the spirit of the show, as well as it's storytelling. Please believe my complete sincerity when I say that THIS is my canon season four. Period. If you ever chose to dive back into this world, I'll be there every step of the way. (Honestly, I could read how the rest of their lives played out from your perspective!!) Bravo, my friend! And THANK YOU for putting this out in the world for us.

Oh wait!!!! I HAVE TO FANGIRL OVER CHAPTER TEN. The whole story was amazing and had me literally smiling to myself constantly, and chapter 10 was the perrrrrfect ending omg. But my absolute favorite scene was Ted's confession!!!!! I giggled out loud and just smiled for a solid 15 seconds before I could keep reading. You clever thing, you!!! You'd set us up so well with Ted's multiple plans for himself throughout the fic and following through storytelling-wise with each one. So when I tell you how UNPREPARED I was for his sudden confession, but how PERFECT AND WILDLY ROMANTIC IT WAS omggggg I'm still giddy about it the next day. Gahhhhh just perfect. You've got a new fan for life! I'll ready anything you write for this lovely ted lasso fandom of ours!

IM LITERALLY SOBBING THANK YOU SO MUCH season 4 was about ted and trent falling in love we all know it <3 i'm truly so flattered tha tmy characterisation and character arcs were so satisfying to read, i can't say thank you enough it was so fun to write and the fact that it resonated so much;;;; pls, y'all are too nice to me. i really loved writing that fic, i'm glad that the epilogue was good too omggg, they're SO romantic in their own little weird way!!! the romance just WORKS for them bc they're with each other, it's less about the setting and the setup and more about how obsessed they are <3 i hope you also enjoy the rambling headcanon post i wrote about the propsal scene that i just posted (that's how all my plot documents look before i make them make sense by writing the fic hahaha) and i have a few other ted lasso fics in the works!! they're coming!!!!

Jamie one-upping Beard and Roy

I am going to criticize Ted Lasso writing a little bit here... doesn't mean I don't still love it, but I need to get this out.

First, Roy has already used the term prima donna in S1E4 about Jamie and he pronounced it correctly and differently than in S3E3 so that's an actual continuity error.

And y'all know I love Roy the best and I still have issues with Jamie that I don't think they're going to address because he's grown and everyone forgives him, however, something rubbed me the wrong way with Jamie one-upping Beard and Roy beyond my overly protective nature of Roy & my deep respect for Beard's intelligence.

I think it's the difference between the tight writing of S1 and what I would call some of the easy gags I've seen in S3. 

I get that the point is about Jamie’s growth and maturity, however, I would have preferred if his "smart" moments were intrinsic to Jamie rather than taking away from Beard and Roy's areas of intelligence.

Beard is good at linguistics/wordsmithing. Jamie is not. Roy always seems to get cultural references - Jamie, not as much. So I get what they were doing. However, if Jamie had pointed out something in his own area of knowledge, and it had enlightened Roy and Beard than it would show his value without Roy & Beard making mistakes that are beneath them in those areas. To me that's a bit lazy/punching down instead of lifting up and learning from others.

Jason & Brett talk about "intentionality" all the time and I think this one didn't work for me on that level.

This is just a weirdly obsessional observation, I realize, but there have been a couple of jokes in S3 that have fit this "slightly lazy" level.

good morning, kaz! i'm so sorry i missed this last night, i was busy singing my lungs out very poorly at karaoke, ahaha.

that cocktail sounds fantastic, i will take two, pls & thank you. whiskey (and scotch whisky particularly) is my preferred liquor most of the time, though gin does edge ahead a little bit in the summer when i enjoy a nice fizz with fresh fruit. that cocktail sounds perfectly up my alley! <3

ted lasso. i was very late to this one, but just binged all three seasons and really enjoyed it. on apple.

BEEF. it's sooooooo goood and bizarre and wonderful in the worst (best) ways. on netflix.

trial & error. was an nbc comedy over too soon. on peacock, i think.

the river. likewise cancelled early, but it's horror on the amazon and i loved it a lot. idk where to find this one, but i'm sure it's streaming someplace as all things are these days.

not dead yet. which finished its first season recently is an easy watch & pretty funny. the MC is very relatable in an, "i am a mess" sort of way alsjdf;adfs. i think this is nbc, but i watched it on hulu.

movies:

everything everywhere all at once. i can't wait to watch this again. it was my first time in a non-socially distanced movie theatre post-quarantine and it was such a joy to hold my spouse's hand while i laughed my ass off and cried and yelled. love this fucking thing (as does everyone else, as they should).

you won't be alone. this is horror. body horror. it's pretty messy in parts but so so sooooooo soooooooooooooo good. it's also primarily in macedonian with subtitles and i'm not sure how hard it would be to track down.

the impostors. with stanley tucci and oliver platt is a comedy from my youth that i still think is one of the best of all time.

a goofy movie. idk, y'all, i just showed this to my spouse because it was referenced in an episode of atlanta (another great fucking tv show) and it's still just so funny and heartwarming and the music they made for powerline is so good.

spiderman: across the spider-verse. haven't even seen this yet but my god i want to so badly and i just know it's gonna be killer because the first one blew my mind.

anime (i'm probably not gonna come up with much here you haven't already seen or know about tbh but let's see):

blue period. especially as an artist, i think you might enjoy this one. i binged it in like a day and a half and thoroughly enjoyed it all very much. on netflix.

maid-sama! i actually enjoyed watching this anime so much that i then went back and read the whole manga because i needed to know how it ended. it was cute and expected and exactly the sort of low-stakes shojo i needed at the time.

ghost hunt!.i fucking love this little horror anime and am so disappointed it didn't get to go longer. there is a manga and also a light novel that are very worthwhile if you ever have the time.

i think three is all you're gonna get outta me for this category, but i hope something there sparks your fancy! thanks so much! <3
