I wrote this a month and a half ago and I just realized I never said anything here! So here you go, 17k of E rated omegaverse Xiyao in hiding (no archive warnings apply) from yours truly. I hope you like it!!

Meng Yao, the raging feral ball of issues that he is, reacts by panicking a lil bit cause FUCK. What do you mean these two now know he’s pregnant? This is exactly what people have always accused him of being —a whore whose achievements are dependent on opening his legs prettily. But also, he’s pregnant??? With Lan Xichen’s pup??? The man that made him feel like he was living in pure marital bliss in the middle of war???

He’s swooning because he knows that he can’t have that child if he wants his plans to go on, but the thought of erasing the only remaining proof of what he had during those days with that perfect, heavenly alpha that treated him as if Meng Yao was the one carved out from the purest jade makes him want to rip his own scent glands off and die choking on his own blood.

Nie Mingjue is frankly very confused about the look on Meng Yao’s face because he thinks he understands the distress that his deputy is feeling but he also knows that there must be a lot he’s missing on. And the souring of Meng Yao’s scent in that moment doesn’t help his confusion and maybe his hurt too, if you want to make this 3zun with a respectfully pining Nie Mingjue which yes, it definitely is like that, please and thank you. Confusion that stops Nie Mingjue from seeing the initial shock and elation that Lan Xichen seems to be feeling at first, after reuniting with the beautiful, strong, and incredibly smart omega that managed to make the best out of the worst moments of his life. And on top of that, it turns out that this precious man that got Lan Xichen’s heart soaring and singing at his every dimpled smile is bearing his child??? He wants to kiss him and scent him so badly and go run to wherever his uncle may be to tell him that he is marrying this man.

And then, he sees A-Yao’s face. And suddenly, he feels like all of the air has been punched out his lungs and he wants to throw up. What if Meng Yao hadn’t actually wanted to share his rut with him? What if it had all been a delusion concocted by his feverish lovesick head? He smells A-Yao’s distress and feels guilty, dirty and has the sudden urge of ripping his robes off, and letting Meng Yao claw at his chest and rip it open, so that he can yank his heart and guts out of Lan Xichen as punishment for his heinous crimes.

A/b/o au in which Nie Mingjue detects a drastic change in MY's scent during the Sunshot Campaign. Such great changes in the scent of an omega are often indicative of their condition: and Meng Yao is revealed to be pregnant.

Not knowing what to do, Nie Mingjue request Lan Xichen's assistance in broaching the subject to Meng Yao. However he fails to tell Lan Xichen exactly who his omegan deputy is.

So, when Lan Xichen realizes it is Meng Yao - the omega that shared his rut with whilst hiding from the Wen- who is pregnant, the only thing he can say is "A-Yao is carrying my child ⁉️"

His breathing slows, and his body relaxes bit by bit. He imagines that he is listening to a lullaby written just for him. And just like a lullaby, the symphony guides him back to sleep. Or: Wei Ying lives in the apartment above Lan Zhan's bakery. Or part 2: Wei Ying learns how to accept Lan Zhan's help.

Daily reminder that when the Cloud Recesses got attacked, and LXC went on the run and JGY saved him and helped him hide, the Wens were in full power. They were the undisputed ruling clan. So much so that they could demand the other sects to send their heirs to them as hostages, and nearly kill the said heirs, fearing no consequences. And no sect had decided to try anything against them yet. They didn't think that ALL THE OTHER SECTS TOGETHER could do anything against the Wens. (And they truly couldn't if it weren't for Meng Yao.)

A little insignificant outcast like Meng Yao was FUCKED if he was caught hiding away THE Zewu-Jun.

And yet he did it! He didn't like...drag LXC to a doctor and said "I found this mysterious wounded man with an unknown identity. He's your problem now. Ciao. :)" No! He fully took care of him and hid him away and helped him rebuild the Cloud Recesses! (And listen, the Xiyao agenda of the show when Meng Yao specifically thinks of "Zewu-Jun" when he hears about the fall of the cloud recesses while he himself is bleeding on the ground and goes to save LXC after his banishment is very beautiful, especially for LXC. Imagine seeing this cute guy that you developed a crush on with one look and a total of 5 minutes of interaction before the guy left. And then suddenly in your worst & most desperate situation, the guy suddenly appears like an angel like you've manifested him and saves you and nurses you back to health and takes your hand in rebuilding your sect every step of the way. BUT! Book!Meng Yao didn't even know LXC! There has never been a tender hand touch and LXC gracefully saving him from an awkward and cruel social situation! He just saw a man and saved him out of the kindness of his heart regardless of the risks for himself!)

And LXC wasn't even the only person he saved individually. He saved Qin Su, too. if he's saved these two individually who knows if he had saved more people. Daily reminder that JGY is the kind of person who will go out of his way to help people when he can.

ok listen when trying to work from the novel timeline via the mdzs wiki I roughly estimated about 4-6 weeks for xiyao's time on the run from the wens. and I realize the donghua makes some. uh. decisions. but I was looking for a different scene and found this tiny thing instead

I'm screaming no wonder I had "xiyao cottagecore era" firmly in my mind for when they first met. (Although it helps that the donghua also shows them hiding in what does look like a very cute cottage)

I know xiyao did not literally meet in Yunping (it's likely that meng yao worked somewhere else as a bookkeeper after his mom died, etc.) but let's use Yunping as shorthand for "xiyao in hiding somewhere in yunmeng", anyway.

Point is: oh my god, the xiyao cottagecore period has all of the best tropes. a secret time away from the world, just the two of them, societal differences suspended while in hiding, there was only one bed, wound tending, secret identities, prince thrown among commoners, nicknames, first times, first love, etc.

Look at this whole wartime romance blossoming quietly in a single flashback, a period of time that we only heard about from other people in the previous versions of the story, that we never saw until the donghua, but that apparently changed both of their lives so completely that lxc came out of it with pretty enlightened takes on grey morality and the nickname "a-yao" on his lips. Incredible. unparalleled. blessed content. whenever I think about it I want to bite my fist.

Extra Headcanons

The stronger your cultivation level, the more you are able to do that others may not realize is possible. For Example, if a cultivator’s spiritual power is high enough, they can make their spiritual weapon turn into a tattoo somewhere on their body.

The Sect Leader outfits are like those of the game version, or at least more intricate than how they are perceived in canon.

Cultivators are known to have very long lifespans, long enough to where someone in their 90s would be considered young. The longest a cultivator (who wasn’t immortal) lived was recorded to be 328 years old.

They had developed a crush on each other during their time at the Cloud Recesses but only acted on those feelings in a moment of shared grief after Wei Ying’s death. They dated for a few years but ended up ending things when Huaisang became too distant after his brother’s death. They still ended up staying friends, though, and later became sworn brothers.

Being sworn brothers was not intended to be a secret, but they also never said anything about it (but they also didn’t hide it either, people were just either completely blind to it, or thought they started dating again).

Xiyao (Romantic(?) → Enemies(?))

They had feelings for one another, but unlike Sangcheng, they never fully acted on them, as Lan Huan was a sect leader and Meng Yao was (for a little while) only classified as the “son of a prostitute” by others. The way their relationship was shown to others only became closer when Meng Yao was publicly/formerly accepted into the Jin Clan and became Jin Guangyao.

There was a time when they were in a “situationship” of some sort, but it never got any further than that as Jin Guangyao was quick to put an end to anything since he was set to marry Qin Su (his sister 🤢) in the coming months.

During the following years, Lan Huan never completely lost feeling for the other until the events at Guanyin Temple happened and Jin Guangyao’s masterplan was revealed in front of all of them.

Jin Guangyao has a hard time determining his exact feelings for Lan Huan. He can’t entirely say that he was in love with him, but he can admit that he did have feelings for him, even if it was only a small amount and lasted for not even a year

Jin Guangyao knew of Lan Huan’s feelings for him and used them for his benefit.

Zhancheng (Rivals(?) → Familial/Platonic)

While they were younger in the Cloud Recesses, they felt as if they had to compete against each other for the attention of Wei Ying, so in consequence, they didn’t like each other too much.

During the three months that Wei Ying was gone and they went on all of those search missions together for him, they began to get closer. 

When Lan Zhan was out of his (forced) seclusion, he asked Jiang Cheng for help in order to raise a child (Lan Huan bugged him about asking the Sect Leader since they were both single parents and similar in age). He was reluctant about it at first because of the falling out they had during the Burial Siege, but they started to get closer after a few months.

Jiang Cheng knew immediately that “Lan Yuan” was actually Wen Yuan, but he didn’t say anything about it. 

During the times when both Lan Huan and Lan Zhan would be away on official business, Jiang Cheng would be the one to take care of Lan Yuan if the boy couldn’t go with the Twin Jades. While the boy was at Lotus Pier, he was taught to swim and had small playdates with Jin Ling (as well as following Jiang Cheng like a little duckling all around YunmengJiang).

It's my birthday today so i decided to be super self-indulgent and to design and name all Xiyao babies for the Jiaoren AU UvU

You might recognize name from other chinese novel bc i suck at naming.

Anyways i blame the insomnia earlier this week for the absurd number of babies and all that follow :

-1st baby is Jingyi of course, very proud, like chicken the most, his tail is white and blue but his skin has a yellowish glow. You know Jingyi he is pretty much like in canon.

-2nd Baby will be Rusong, who is very long (longer than Jingyi) and has A-Yao's hair floof. He is a lot like his uncle Wangji, (come on king give us nothing!!) probably a bit on the autistic spectrum. He likes to bite and chew on people and float on the pond.

-3rd baby is Haojun (name is Meng Shi 's chinese voice actor) She is very much like her grandmother and her tail color has pink/purple hue like Meng Shi's (but you see more the yellow and the blue). She likes her fathers the most and when A-Yao tried to make her float like a baby otter she cried when he disappeared and LXC had to swim and get her back

-4th baby is Haikuan (name of LXC's actor in CQL), he is a lot like LXC but with A-Yao's colors (yellow for the tails and brown hair) He seems always happy enthusiastic / kind and encouraging. He can be a bit exhausting sometimes because he gives everything his 100% Picture Drunk LXC. He also has the longest tail of all the guppies.

-5th baby is Zanjin (Name of JGY's actor in CQL) he is a lot like his father (A-Yao) but with black Lan hair, he likes shiny things and tiny animals, peace and quiet. He keeps gifting the people he loves with pearls and shells.

-6th baby is Lingwen (name from TGCF, Ling Wen, i hope the contraction is okay) - She is a quiet child, looks a lot like her Lan grandma. Her tail is blue and greenish. She looks super composed but she is the one that can hisses and bites you without a warning.

-7th and 8th are twins Yueyan and Qiyan (Qiyan is from a girl's love chinese novel) their tail are yellow and blue. Yueyan is very much like Lan Xichen and Qiyan a lot like JGY, very close they speak a language only they understand sometimes.

And last ones are 9th and 10th, twins Fengxi and Fuyao. The first human pregnancy JGY got and he was like "finally a human baby !! and he got somehow a dragon baby first. It wasn't a fun time in the labor room. Then he got Fuyao and Fuyao looked very much human and while JGY tried to get his dragon baby undercontrol LXC tended to Fuyao and Fuyao opened his mouth and showed VERY NIT HUMAN FANG (like picture the dragon in how i met your dragon, toothless and then suddenly POOF SHARP TEETH AND CHOMP)

LXC : ...Hm...I'm afraid this one is not completely human like you wanted A-Yao.

JGY : *looks at Fuyao as Fengxi decided he was going to live inside his father's collar robe* they're human enough. No more children.

(they will have more children maybe in 20 years or so but for now it's enough)

Fengxi does not like human, he only tolerates family and hides in his fathers' robe and sleeve all the time. He attacks people who harm his siblings. He likes to steal things that belongs to his family and hoard them all like it's treasure. He probably shifted into his human form the lastest among the guppies, probably near adulthood.

PS : they all have dimples and LXC is the happiest about it.

I also decided for the epilogues children of all the others ship and let me tell you...insomnia was strong.

Wangxian is definitely competing to have as many babies as Xiyao but for now they just say they're competing against ChengQingSang so they can say they're winning (JC's competitive strike is calmed down by his spouses)

Kidnapping whump anon, this is for you. Out of curiosity, could you tell me why you prompted me this? I’ve never written xiyao, mostly because I don’t care for this ship tbh, so I’d love to know what made you think of me for this. Anyway, here you go!

The awful, horrible truth is this: Meng Yao thinks Lan Xichen might be more broken hearted about their forced union than her. It is a consequence of their lives and all the torment Lan Xichen was never forced to endure. He is kind to her when they live together, insists she takes the pitiful attempts of a bed as he sleeps on the ground, injured. He asks to be shown how to launder and to cook and while most of his attempts only make Meng Yao’s job more difficult, it’s endearing that he asks.

His kind smiles, his worries for her position in life – unmarried, without any family to care for her – are that of a sheltered boy. She thought he’d turn out like all the other sheltered boys that are ushered into brothels by their peers, sweet and shy until they learn that the right amount of coin gains them all the might they want, the closest they come to the taste of the Emperor’s power. But he remains sweet even when they are discovered by the Wen soldiers, defends her honor when the Wen jeer, when their eyes darken and they get the look of men who learned to use their power.

Lan Xichen is kind, defending a honor Meng Yao has lost a while ago.

Lan Xichen, she considers, might have been. But the Wen robbed him of that chance and Meng Yao regrets that. It makes it easier to sink her knife in the neck of the captain when they are done.

The Wen would’ve done worse once they got bored. Like this, Meng Yao and Lan Xichen could keep this a secret—

“I’ll marry you,” Lan Xichen says in the dead of night. He has his ribbon wrapped around his wrist and keeps wrapping and unwrapping it, likely to keep his hands from shaking. Shuoyue is wrapped in bandages at Meng Yao’s back. She cannot wield it longer than a second, but he cannot wield it at all after being raped at its sword point. His own weapon used against him like that – it must feel like betrayal.

“You don’t have to,” says Meng Yao, surprising herself. She should be demanding he marry her, play up the robbed virginity, ensure that she will be safe and sound after the war and—ah. Is this her own guilt?

“How can you say that?” Lan Xichen very nearly cries. “After what I did—I have to do right by you.”

“He will,” Lan Xichen insists. “If he knows—”

“And do you want to tell him what was done to us? Lan Xichen, it is best if we stay quiet. Besides…”

Menh Yao looks like her mother, she knows she does. Everyone commented on it, even Jin Guangshan, who cast her aside as a hysteric for claiming to be blood.

“What do I know about being anyone’s wife? And my father, he will insist on reparations. Jin Guangshan will rob the Cloud Recesses in the middle of a war he refuses to engage in.”

He’d care about Meng Yao then. How strange to thing she wanted his acceptance now, the security that would come with the station. Surely, surely, no one would attempt to take from a sect leader’s daughter as they would from a whore’s.

But Jin Guangshan is just like every other man, all he does is take.

“Would it be so bad to marry me?” Lan Xichen finally asks. “We wouldn’t even have to—you could live separated from me. You wouldn’t need to share a home with me.”

Lan Xichen is kind and sweet and so very dear. He doesn’t love her, doesn’t think beyond the brutality that rests between them and the amends he thinks he owes. There are implications he isn’t considering, acknowledgments to be made and Meng Yao—

She tried to protest, didn’t she? She could do worse than Lan Xichen, who will look at her with guilt for the rest of their lives.

“Alright,” she agrees. “If we make it to the Cloud Recesses, I’ll marry you.”

Lan Xichen smiles, soft and small, and Meng Yao resigns herself to becoming his sweet and kind wife.

This probably only hits one of the beats you expected anon but look, I just think that a fem!Meng Yao would outwardly handle this so much better than Lan Xichen, even when repressing a lot. She’s grown up with the concept of rape being pretty much a given standard expectation, so this wasn’t the worst her imagination could do. Lan Xichen, meanwhile, at best, never thought of himself in this situation beyond some vague fear/context of becoming his father.
