There is something so intrinsically interesting to me about Eraqus’ relationship with his students. The fact that he raised them, trained them, cared about them, and then he hurt them all the while thinking what he was doing was what’s right.

What’s even more interesting is, how, if he would have lived, the Wayfinders would have taken it. Would they have forgiven him, or refused forgiveness? Would they let him back in, or be hesitant? How would their relationship change?

There’s something very interesting in Eraqus being able to change and the Wayfinders being able to get the closure they want/need and being able to move on to a brighter future for all of them, where Eraqus is more open-minded, and is the adult the others (*cough* Sora, Kairi, Riku, and the Sea Salt Family *cough*) so very much need.

But, there’s also something so interesting in them never being able to get that happy ending. They have to move on, and they will, through blood, sweat, and tears they will. But they have so many questions they can never get the answers to.

What’s also so interesting is Eraqus coming back to a world that’s so different. How would Eraqus react to a new world? To Riku, who reminds him oh so much of Xehanort yet proved every inch of Eraqus’ deep-rooted beliefs wrong? To Sora, who in every way reminds him of himself when he was young? To Roxas and Xion and Namine, three kids who were never meant to exist and who were used the same way Ventus was? To Lea, who goes far beyond lengths of reason to get what he wants and protect who he loves (and who reminds Eraqus so much of himself, dear Kingdom Hearts Eraqus also will go to extreme lengths to protect who he loves, and it led him astray).

GAH I just love this messed up family.

Vexen medicine cat would be really funny. Zexion medicine cat apprentice is the next logical step which I think recreates the early Jaypaw Leafpool dynamic which is even funnier because Jayfeather was the first character I was ever obsessed with

wait I just realized none of these bastards are canonically specialized for healing. the closest would be Vexen (knows how the body works) and Zexion (highest magic stat and only true caster, and cure/cura/curaga are spells)

back to Saïx, even though I think the "Luna Diviner" title is lame as fuck and doesn't represent Saïx very well, when you consider the line in kh2 where he asks Sora if he can hear the euphoria of the hearts gathered in kingdom hearts + the part of that one short story where Saïx asks Axel if he can hear the world's screams and Axel goes "what the hell are you talking about", I think he probably CAN actually hear that shit. which means he's definitely one of those cats constantly being plagued by visions of dead ancestors

that's the medicine cat's job though and generally cats who can hear that stuff from early on end up going into the medicine cat role but look at Saix he is NOT about to be a fucking medicine cat. middle manager assigning missions is basically the same as deputy assigning patrols, he's the deputy I've decided

actually... Vexen doesn't seem like a very spiritual guy... maybe it's like Mothwing and her apprentices, where he only does healing and Zexion handles all the prophecy omen StarClan stuff as well. He would be into that

I think Roxas being an apprentice to Axel sounds about right but idk about Xion... could be a situation where her mentor is Saix and he's being absolutely shitty about it but if the Chain of Memories crew is still alive in this setting I think. maybe. he should not be the one mentoring her.

Xemnas is the leader. he started out as a loner and then joined the clan and either charisma'd his way to being leader or there was a violent coup, which would imply... a number of things

like they'd definitely be put in their place after a coup if there were any other clans around

why is the group so small? why are they exclusively growing the group by recruiting outsiders when warrior cats almost all hate doing that? if we start with an established group where Ansem the Wise is theoretically the leader and Xemnas takes over after they collectively beat Ansem's ass, what happened to the entire rest of the clan? also where are the women

Lauriam/Marluxia and Elrena/Larxene's deal is somewhat similar to Jay's Wing/Jayfeather, Dove's Wing/Dovewing, and Lion's Roar/Lionblaze, but instead of reincarnations they're time travelers. I don't think they get magic powers as a result because they didn't get any more special powers than the other org members in canon

Hi! I'm supposed to be doing schoolwork, so you know what that means: it's time for me to talk about kingdom hearts again!

Y'all remember how Xion was originally treated by the fandom, particularly by shippers? I do. I was in the trenches fighting for my girl's honor while folks who shipped Protag Boy with Best Friend who was ten years older than him slandered her into oblivion. There was literally no Xion content for years. Go to Youtube right now and look up any video that was widely known throughout the fandom (Axel as Dane Cook, which are still classics btw, character Disney themes, trailers for different movies using KH cutscenes, fuckin Invader Zim videos) and I'm willing to bet you money that Xion will not appear in any of them. If she did, it was like "Woah this person really knows their stuff, they've got fuckin' Xion in the vid." But most of the stuff was either people complaining about her being shoehorned in, making her the villain in the AkuRoku stuff, or just the beaten-to-death joke of "Who's Xion?" Maybe we just needed to mature or dive deeper into the story, but by the time KH3 came out, the tune had thankfully changed and she received the hero's Welcome Back she deserved. It's interesting to see the change from completely neglected and ignored character to fandom darling, but if anyone can pull it off, it's her.

I will say though, it is so viscerally satisfying to hear the remix of Vector to the Heavens. It was already a great boss theme. But the KH3 version, with the heavy rock guitar and the war drums, it almost gives off the impression that it isn't just Xion fighting her opponent; it's Xion fighting US. It's her answer to the endless "Who's Xion" jokes: I Will Make You Remember Me. And I Will Cut Your Max HP, Thank You.

Idk. I love her, always did and always will. Character of all time.

i reckon most people first getting into kh are mostly drawn to like sora and riku etc so like perfectly understandable LOL. they are the main ones after all. and when you first get into something it takes a while to work out a coherent literary analysis aka your opinions will be bad or incomplete at first and you won’t appreciate everything else in full. but the good fans are the ones who stay a while and really marinate in it until suddenly a year or so later their brains have been microwaved by some poor shmuck with two seconds of screentime. hashtag i’m obsessed with almost every kh character/character group from the main beloved ones to the one off chibis!!!

I have an idea that is in a similar vein to the theory that Sora was the Lich in KH3, but differs slightly - I think Sora can take on the darkness (or feed on the light possibly? I think its one of two) of others' hearts. This theory mostly hinges on how Sora takes on the pain of Ven, Roxas, and Xion. For some reason I can't find the screenshot, but I am in class so my searching skills aren't fully devoted at the moment. I'll run through cutscenes eventually, but basically I'm thinking of the scene where Sora says he is taking on the burden/pain of those in his heart.

Throughout the series, Sora has had a unique ability to hold others in his heart, it's the basis of the "Sora is the Lich" theory from kh3. This leads me to wonder about the actual mechanics of him taking on not only hearts, but specifically hearts in pain on the verge of death.

Sora isn't the only one in the series with hyperempathy, notably both Baldr and Xehanort both experience the ability that Sora has of feeling other's pain across unbelievable stretches. Both of these fell to darkness due to the extreme feelings they were experiencing- to take on another's pain is to eventually overwhelm yourself and fall. It's possible that Sora has yet to have this occur due to the nature of the hearts within him - namely Ventus and Kairi, the hearts of pure light.

When playing kh3, you do not have to use rage form until the forced moment at Kairi's death. Prior to that moment, it is entirely optional, almost as if Sora is able to hold himself back from falling into it. While his rage over Kairi's death would make sense after everything he had just done to save everyone, it's also notable that the only instance of forced rage form is after Ventus is gone from Sora's heart.

Many have commented on how sora's darkness has grown through the games, and I'm the past I've wondered if the growing darkness also aligning with how close we are to Ventus waking up are connected, and I'm beginning to believe firmly that they are. I think that Sora is able to draw on the dominant power of the hearts around him in order to maintain balance of light and dark within his heart. As Ven grew closer to waking up, his heart of pure light was strengthening and healing- and in tandem sora's darkness grew. He took on the hearts of Roxas and Xion, both of which would hold some darkness, which makes me wonder if their hearts were helping contribute darkness to keep sora's in balance while holding Ventus's.

If someone with the hyperempathy only takes on the darkness of others' hearts, then they are more susceptible to being overcome by darkness, but if Sora has been slowly taking on both dark and Ventus's light, then it could explain why he has kept from overloading with darkness thus far despite all his trauma. "My friends are my power," what if they really are - what if Sora can literally draw light or darkness from those around him. Sorry if this was rambling or incoherent, I haven't slept.

Mini Fanfic #1208: Rememberance of a Harsh Past and an Old Friend (Kingdom Hearts X FF7)

11:54 a.m. at Disneyland..........

It was a nice and lively day in the wonderful town of Disney. As the sounds of cheers and laughter from all ages continuously echoes throughout the entire areas, the former leader of Avalanche, Barret Wallace, sits alone on a bench near the coffee, looking down at a small photo he's carrying in his hand, of him smiling next to another man wear the same looking gun are as he is.

Barret: ('Sigh')

???: I'm back.

Barret turns to see his friend/co-worker back at Lockhart's Bar, Isa, standing in front of the bench, carrying two cups of freshly made coffee in his hands.

Isa: (Hands Barret his Drink) The line was too long for my liking, but it was more than enough to pick this up for you as well. (Takes Out a Newly Purchased Snicker Bar From his Pants Pocket and Hands It to Barret as Well)

Barret: (Forms a Small Gron on his Face) ('Heh') My man. Thank you. (Takes a Whiff of his Coffee's Scent Before Letting Out a Bit of a Satisfied Sigh) It's always good to have the smell of coffee in any time of the morning. (Takes a Sip of his Black Coffee) ('Mm')

Isa: (Simply Nodded in Agreement) I admit. The aroma their brand presents is fairly appealing enough. I doubt it'll taste any special though.

Barret: (Raises an Eyebrow) What are you, a coffee critic or something?

Isa: When it comes to comparing any coffee to the ones I perfectly crafted in my own time, I'm as harash of a critic as they come. (Sits Himself Down Next to Barret Before Taking a Sip of His Own Coffee) Hm. This isn't half bad.

Barret: (Snickers a Bit) Damn. You caved in to it's taste already? (Forms a Teasing Smirk) That was quick.

Isa: (Rolls his Eyes a Bit) I said it wasn't bad, Wallace, I'm not as fond of it as I am to my own creation......But it'll do for now. (Continues Drinking his Coffee)

Barret: (Burst Out Laughing) Ah man! You're a real riot sometimes, Isa, you know that?

Isa: I'm not the funniest man alive. (Smiles a Little) But I'm happy to see my antics was able to at least make you smile for today, considering how out of it looked earlier.

Barret: Yeah. (Laugher Dies Down a Bit While Rubbing the Back of his Head Back and Forth) It was really that noticeable, huh?

Isa: To me it does. I can't say the others notice it either, but with Lea watching over them, I'm certain it'll stay that way for now.

Barret: ('Sigh') Well, I hope that's the case then. The last thing I need right now is for them worrying about me on our day of fun.

Isa: Agreed. (Looks Down at a Photo Barret's Holding in his Other, More Mechanical Hand) I take it this has something to do with that man next to you in that photo?

Barret: Yeah. That there was an old friend of mine from way back, Dyne. We grew up together back in Corel, working all day n' night in that old coal mine. (Chuckles Lightly at the Memories He Shared with Dyne) I remember the heat in that place were a lot more hotter than the temperature out here, but it never stopped either one of us from getting every little thing done. Even if one of us drop to the ground, exhausted, we would always be by side, help each other back up, amd power our way through until the sunsets. Nothing could stop us! (Glares at the Ground) That is until Shinra brings their ugly, pissed-filled heads into our town, setting everything on fire, and killing everyone on sight, our wives and love ones include.

Isa: (Eyes Slowly Widens to Genuine Shock by What He's Hearing Right Now) Is.....that right?

Barret: (Slowly Nodded While Letting Out a More Heavy Sigh) Yeah.....They're ruthless sons of bitches, still hate 'em to this very day.

Barret takes another Sip of his drink before continuing.

Barret: One of their ringleaders, Scarlet, her them corner us and try shooting us down till Dyne swooped in and takes a a few hits before slipping off a nearby ditch. I caught him by the hand and tried my best to get him back up the surface, but one of those troops shot both of our arms straight through, causing him to fall down......

Isa: (Turns to Barret's Now Metal Hand) (So that's how you ended up armless......)

Barret: Life been a personal hell for me after that. The guilty of leaving my hometown been eating me alive, I found Marlene and had to raising on my own at the time, 'least till Tifa and my old crew, the Avalanche, came into the picture and hekp out on ocassions, and I spent a longtime believing that Dyne was dead n' gone, 'till the day I found out he was still alive in the Corel Prison years later.

Isa: He survived that fall?

Barret: Yeah, but.....('Sighs Heavily') Isa, when I tell you that man was completely different from the last I saw him. He looked so broken......defeated even. His mind was already shattered long before then. We fought each other for an hour or two on end until he swooped in and saved me again from those damn troops lurkin' in om us. He told me his hands were too stain to be anywhere near Marlene, his..... own daughter, before giving me his pendent, continue living with the guilt, and NEVER make her cry for as long as the of us both live. And after that, he was gone. 'Had a proper burial for him before I departed with Cloud and the gang.

Isa: (Bows His Head Down a Bit) My condolences to your friend and everyone else whose lives were taken on that day. (Looks Back Up at Barret with a Hint if Sadness in his Eyes) I'm sorry you had to go through all of that.

Barret: (Fling his Habd Up and Down a Little at Isa) Nah. Don't worry about it. Like I said, life wasn't easy for me back then, but I persevered to where I'm at now, alive and in peace with the people I hold dear. Can't be anymore blessed about it than that really. (Opens Up his Snicker Bar and Bites Off the Top of It)

Isa: And yet, another thing has been bothering you just as much, is there?

Barret: ('Clicks Teeth') Damn. You're reading me like an open book today, man! Do you always do this with Lea and them?

Isa: On ocassions. I've been examining their mood and facial expressions so frequently as of late that it gotten a bit more easier to do the same with other people as well. (Takes Another Sip of his Coffee)

Barret: Ever thought about being a therapist or something? You be pretty good at it if you keep this up.

Isa: (Casually Shrugs) Perhaps. But I'd rather not be bombarded with clients' personal problems on a daily.

Barret: (Gives Isa a Reassuring Smile) Nah, I'm sure you can handle a wave of people's problems with both of your eyes closed. I know you ca-

Isa: (Giving his Friend an Unconvincable Soft Glare) Barret. I hope this conversation isn't your way of dodging the previous topic completely, is it?

Barret: Uhhh.......Maybe.....not? (Shrugs While Smiling More Awkwardly)

Isa raises an eyebrow at Barret in silence.

Barret: ('Groans in Defeat') Fine! You want me to admit me? Here it is: I'm scared of telling Marlene about her real daddy one of these days, alright!? Isa: (Simply Nodded in Agreement and Understanding) Understandable. It's never easy to reveal this type of information to those closes to you, but you try to be more calm before the time comes for the both of you to approach the matter.

Barret: Yeah. (Takes a Deep Breath) I still have some years life before she reached pre teen status, right? I got this!.....At least I hope I do.

Isa: (Places his Hand on Barret's Shoulder) Have faith in yourself, Barret. You've faced and conquered through many hardships and tragedies in your life to develop and become the very man and father you are today. (Smiles a Bit) I have no doubt in my mind that you will have what takes to tell her someday,

Barret: (Smiles Back at Isa) Thanks, man. I'm glad and thankful to have you and your folks around in our lives. Y'all are good people.

Isa: Likewise.

Lea: Hey......(Tries Regaining his Breath Before Speaking and Pointing at the Kids) They were the ones asking about him. I just didn't have the heart to lie to them. That being said- (Turns to Barret) Are you doing okay over there, big guy?

Barret: ('Sigh') Yeah, yeah, I'm more than alright now. Y'all don't need to fret over me.

Marlene: Are you sure?
