I know y'all who follow me are Splatoon fans since that's the only thing I've publicly written for thus far but I'm gonna gush on main here for just a sec because what the fuck do you MEAN Nintendo shadow-dropped a trailer for a Xenoblade Chronicles X remake for Switch???????

Xenoblade Chronicles X is the first and only Xenoblade game I've played, and while I know full well the rest of the series is very good, I've never really been interested since X is the one I started with, and unfortunately that game ends leaving you with more questions than answers. So not only that but the fact that they're teasing NEW CONTENT / ELABORATION ON THE NINE FUCKING YEAR LONG CLIFFHANGER WE'VE BEEN SITTING ON is a little hype for me to say the least.

Humanity's Endling was at least partially influenced by the vibes present in Xenoblade Chronicles X, because humanity as a species is very much on the brink of extinction during that game, and there's certainly no small amount of angst regarding that fact. So this is the part where I tell you that if you like my writing, you'll probably like X's writing, and basically you should buy this game when it comes out because I need to make sure they keep going with the X continuity please for the love of god

There needs to be more remakes of games with failed promise. Games which try and may succeed on some levels, but are held back in some regard due to let downs in other areas.

I want a version of Zero time dilemma with animation that isn't abruptly jank, so it's great moments of payoffs and emotional scenes can hit harder than they already do.

I want a fully realised version of xenoblade chronicles x, a game with so much ambition, but tied to it's own series and such a segmented story paired with a world that didn't fit it.

Hell, I want a fully realised version of balan wonderworld, where it's base ideas, narrative and themes can properly flourish!

The only game I can think of which has had even this kind of thing happen to it would be the legend of Zelda skyward sword, with it's hd port onto the switch. Even though I have only played that particular version, the differences in it and the Wii version make for a much better overall experience, letting it's linearity and surprisingly tightly designed map shine, as a sharp contrast to the open endedness of botw and totk.
