minoth stood between you and the man who had dared to raise a hand against you. minoth towered over him, the man now crouched together and terrified by what your boyfriend might do to him.

“you hurt them. so i guess, i gotta kill you now.”

minoth raised his weapon, pointing it towards the man cowering in fear. he was ready to fire, when you weakly tugged on his shirt.

“please… you don't need to do this.” you whispered to your boyfriend, who only huffed in reponse.

“there’s nothing i wouldn’t do to keep you safe. not even riding the world of scum who hurt you…”

I think an underlooked part of what shaped jin’s mindset was how even back in Torna, he was considered “property”. He and Lora spent their whole lives avoiding the authorities of Torna because they believed would straight up execute Lora to get Jin back, and no one ever denies it. and this has seemingly been a fear since Lora was a child. Jin had to hide his face everywhere he went. Maybe Torna wouldn’t have been cruel enough to execute a child, especially since the king seemed decent(?) enough, if not a bit distant. But the fact it was even a fear at all for Lora since she was so young is just awful to think about. 

According to his past self’s journals, Jin and his old driver fought in a war of independence for Torna, perhaps what made him a hero to begin with. and because he’s a war hero for deeds he doesn’t even remember, the kingdom considers him owned by them. Which is on the nose in two different ways ngl. Both in how the Blades are seen and a wider metaphor of soldiers/state. idk it’s just very sad to think about

Okay but like Boothill and Minoth share the same energy in my head and now I can’t help but imagine a silly little AU in my head so like hear me out in the read more…spoilers for Torna The Golden Country and Xenoblade 2 below!

So MC of the AU was another war orphan taken in by Lora, similar to Mikhail. They wind up taking a shine to Minoth and view him as a father figure of sorts (Definitely taking in his love for writing. I imagine it’d be something different though, perhaps something more academic?). OFC given how Torna the Golden Country ends, MC gets turned into a Blade Eater like Mikhail.

Come to main game, where MC is a part of Torna. Despite being a Blade Eater, they have no potential to resonate with Blades. So…they make their own artificial blade using the blueprints stolen from Tora’s family, but with modifications. Namely…they base the blade off of the one person they looked up to most, weapons and all.

Boothill’s lust for vengeance gets directed at Indol in this AU instead of the IPC obviously. I feel like the dynamic between MC and Boothill in this AU could take a lot of different directions, but the one I favor most with this setup is definitely Boothill and MC viewing themselves as a family (be it in the married couple sense, siblings, parent child, etc.). I think it’d also be fun to play Minoth and MC/Boothill off of each other as well. Minoth has moved on (even gaining a new identity as Cole), yet still reveres the past (see his plays). MC/Boothill cling to the past, yet also want to destroy it (see wanting Indol, and technically the world, to burn to the ground).

TLDR: Cowboys neat.

Something I really like about Minoth's scenes in Xenoblade 2 is the way he's the first instance of the party encountering both a Flesh Eater and also someone who was around long enough to know Pyra and Mythra back when they were in the Aegis War.

Nia begins to doubt herself after noticing how Cole/Minoth was well liked by Vandham and his theatre troupe despite being a flesh eater. She was too frightened to reveal herself to the party out of fear of them not reacting well to her real identity, and it cost Vandham his life. It's also an interesting scene for an example of a failed Flesh Eater experiment in parallel to Nia being a perfected form of the experiment. Nia's struggle with her identity and body across the game feels personal to me. I love how much her struggles are shown in smaller scenes.

the first time you saw minoth was in auresco

he regularly showed up in town and he caught your attention

when you eventually approached him, you started to learn more about him

that he was a blade. and not just any blade, but the praetor's blade! 

the closer you got to him, the more he revealed to you. that he was a flesheater. and how much he feared and despised amalthus

he found someone he could trust in you. someone he could open up to about his fears and problems

the two of you were spending a lot of time together and despite never saying it out loud, it was clear you two had feelings for each other

there would be months where you didn't see minoth at all, as he was away, traveling through alrest or visiting indol

but you knew he would always return to you

when torna was eventually destroyed, you feared you would never see him again

you were worried that he hadn't survived his battle against malos

but a few months later, the two reunited again, in a refugee camp on spessia

the two of you were relieved to meet again and to learn that the other one was unharmed

now that you were finally together again, minoth vowed to never leave you again

you ended up running away together to uraya, where you settled down in fonsa myma

you lived a happy life there, the two of you starting to work at the theater there, until you passed away many years later…

just realized I've never posted my Xenoblade Chronicles 3 ocs here, so why not change that! today I introduce to you: Vanaea the Bygone Warrior, and Bluebelle the Wistful Guard

I don't have many drawings of them, with that one being just from tonight, so bear with me for the lack of pictures.

so to start off with, here's some basic descriptions:

Vanaea - A reckless attacker, she constantly thirsts for a good battle. she often throws herself into conflict without a second thought, leading her partner (romantic) Bluebelle to go chasing after her and desperately try to draw the massive aggro away from her. she loves to live on the edge, and lives a somewhat careless life, living only for the adrenaline rush. when not putting her life on the line, she enjoys adventure as a whole. ever since escaping the flame clock through genocidal means, she has been wandering the world with Bluebelle, exploring every nook and cranny that Aionios has to offer. she is usually rather stoic in her display, though she can get excited very easily, especially in the face of a threat. she's always looks for a new experience, so that her life never gets dull as it reaches its bitter end. she escaped death once, and will continue to, all while hoping that her life never gets lost in vain. if she doesn't make it to her homecoming, then she at least wants to go out swinging. an unarmed death is a pathetic one, and she will fight like hell to see her life to its end.

Bluebelle - an apathetic Kevesi off-seer, this Machina lives only for the sake of seeing the next day. they don't fear death itself, with it being so prevalent in their life, but they instead fear the concept of the unknown after. what lies in that inky darkness when you close your eyes for good. so with a brittle heart, they fight on, keeping their girlfriend by their side. apart from living for the sake of avoiding the terrible unknown, they also live to protect. Vanaea has become their tether to the world, their reason to live amongst all this agony. however, their girlfriend's recklessness constantly worries them and gets on their nerves, so they often end up bickering over their exchange in danger. they're often quite tired, doing the bare minimum every day, all while playing deeply melancholic tunes on their standard Keves style flute.

Wahoo! It's (almost) Minoade May! If you know me, you know that I go crazy over prompt fills - they help my poor little writing-blocked brain focus and create. The Guidelines

Both platonic and romantic dynamics are accepted and encouraged!

You can reference or include Addam's wife, or you can ignore her! Up to you :)

Please avoid significant age gaps / grooming for the comfort of all participants.

Adult content (sexual/violent/traumatic) is fine, but do tag/warn appropriately.

Background ships/dynamics are great - just make sure minoade are the focus.

Some Notes

"Meta Gimmicks" refers to anything about gameplay (originally it was "Gameplay Gimmicks") that brushes up against the fourth wall; ex. characters' flexible knowledge of their damage/stats, skill/weapon names, calls back or forward in ~ludonarrative~ elements.

"Monster AU" includes the subgenre of "Minoth with extra features" such as horns or equine legs; in other words, the "monster" component need not exist in a wholly alternate universe evocative of halloween horror, but instead can build onto the inherent horror elements of Minoth's status as a Blade and Flesh Eater. Too, mermaid/centaur/vampire can give you some inspiration, here.

For "Fusion AU" the intent is for entries to feature a proper fandom fusion - say, Star Trek in specific, rather than space odyssey at large. A Zelda fusion would perhaps contain some elements of Fantasy, but should be adequately differentiated. Including characters from either fandom in the fusion is fair game - whatever helps you paint the setting.

I didn't include a space for death/bereavement, but that can of course fit within several of the other prompts related to such abstract endpoints of life. Please, feel free to embellish and improvise just about as much as you wish.

Sharing Work

I will not be creating a separate Tumblr for this event; however, I post sparingly enough on my main Tumblr, here @dukeofdumbass, that I intend to simply reblog entries here. On Twitter, I will be sharing the event announcement on my variously-pruned main Twitter @dukeofdumbass and retweeting entries on my former bot (I cleared my crontab before it was cool ;) @floraminoade.
