A collection of cursed XCX characters I did earlier today on Insta!!!! I think my favourite one is either Buff Tatsu or Catboy Doug w/ heart glasses ❤️
matthew whined as you carefully disinfected his wounds, flinching every time you gently tapped the soaked cloth against his cheeks. for someone looking as tough as him, he was complaining quite a bit!
“you brought this upon yourself” you scolded him. “if only you didn't charge off on your own, you wouldn't have gotten attacked! now sit still and stop complaining!”
matthew pouted but remained quiet, only flinching softly whenever you touched his face. only once you were finished treating his wounds was when he spoke up again.
“i uhm… thank you! for treating my wounds even if i acted like an idiot… you didn't have to do that”
you sighed softly, before a smile crept onto your lips. matthew usually wasn't as hesitant as he was now and you could see he clearly felt remorse.
“i like you even when you are acting like an idiot, so don't worry about it. just because i'm upset with you for putting yourself in danger doesn't mean i wouldn't help you out afterwards. just promise me you won't make me worry like this again…!”
The end of Xenoblade 2 chapter 3 will always be one of the best moments in the entire game. It didn’t make me cry or anything like that, but it was still a good cutscene when you consider the buildup leading to Vandham’s death (which, unlike most Xenoblade deaths, sticks).
One of the reasons why I love this cutscene is seeing Akhos watching his Blade Obrona die in anguish. It all fits perfectly with one of Vandham’s speeches to Rex earlier in the chapter about fighting his own “war.” Yes, it doesn’t change the fact that Akhos is working someone who wants to destroy the world or the fact that he abused a little girl’s trust. But seeing him grieve over a friend does strip away any satisfaction that came with defeating him and Malos.
This and Nia’s reaction. Nia knows full well that if she had took a stand sooner, Vandham would’ve lived to see another day. The fact her inaction cost the life of an ally, and nearly cost the lives her friends, it’s one of the reasons Nia would have to eventually step up going forward.
As for Rex, I think actions speak louder than words. But I will say that, despite this games poor voice direction, this moment IMO, is where Al Weaver begins to improve going forward.
There's a reason why Uraya is on the cover of the game, just in front of Elysium. It's where Rex goes through major growth as a character (both in story and in gameplay), learning that he can't avoid war no matter how much he tries to. However, that doesn't mean he has to go along with the war as the world dictates, he can fight his own. It's tragic that it took a great mentor dying for him to realize that.
Mythra awakening is badass as always, serving great catharsis after being taunted by Akhos and Malos during this chapter.
Exploration is top notch in Uraya! More varied skill checks that make sense for the environment, great branching paths, and gorgeous jaw-dropping scenery. Tbh, the game is at its best visually when you're outside of a major city, since there's not as much slow down or pop-in due to loading up buildings and NPCs (though Gormott kind of got the short end whether in Torigoth or not). It helps that the music in all of Uraya's areas are just beautiful and well made.
As a whole, I like Chapter 3 a whole lot. Even if there are minor things I have gripes about, it's remarkably solid for what's still, IMO, a tutorial-type chapter.
